Now comes the part where I finish my steddie big bang (rewriting the last couple ending scenes) by listening to myself ramble for an hour on a voice memo just so I could figure out the flow and organization of the end scenes.
(*sigh*) here we go...

Hey! Are you ok with people tagging you in fanart they do/making fanart of your rewrite? Your Crookedstar rewrite has me in SHAMBLES and I need to make fanart for it like. Right now
I'm more than ok with it! I try to collect it as I get it over here on this post, which is also linked on my pinned. You should also check out the TVTropes page that @halogenwarrior maintains, I look at it myself time to time because she updates it pretty frequently and I like learning about tropes that way lmao
You can also feel free to ping me as you please on whatever thing you're making that I inspired! That thing on my pinned post asking people to not ping me on OTHER people's posts refers to people going to the personal works of others and making comparisons, asking me questions about my au in other people's replies, etc. Stuff that wasn't considerate to the OP.
All of BB's concepts are free to use and change as you'd like! Credit's not necessary, but I do like seeing what people are up to.
I only ask that you do not steal drawn art to pass off as your own, as I have collaborators you need to be respectful of, and would also personally like to consider doing commissions or adopts at some point. I don't want any mishaps about people thinking those would be free to use.
ALSO BONUS APPLEKIN MARKING SYMBOLISM:
I stopped writing the draft where I did because I had written a lot and had wanted to share at that point, but with the new update on BB!Oakheart being BB!Crookedstar's adopted brother I've already accounted for the apple-leaf-shaped markings that are on his eyes.
("Applekin" cats come with these very subtle eye markings that aren't particularly noticed in-universe, as an artsy visual sign of them all being part of a family. They're going to show up on everyone from BB!Appledusk all the way down to BB!Frostpaw.
You can see them okish on this chibi I did of Silverstream, but unfortunately last time I drew Oakheart he was dadly weaning sunglasses so they're not visible. Here is a picture of the crabapple leaf it's supposed to look like)
They begin to develop the moment that Crookedstar betrays Mapleshade. Slowly, subtly, over the course of moons. So slowly that no one seems to notice it except Crookedstar.
At first, he thinks he's just crazy. Worrying too much, seeing things that aren't there. But his brother's previously creamy eyerims start to sharpen. At the back corner, a streak lines the lashes back. The smooth edges of the color spike, as if needle-sharp trout teeth are carefully being planted, one prickle, one week at a time.
No one else seems to notice it but him. But he gets the message. Mapleshade "gave" him this family-- and she wants him to know she's going to take it away, too.
So please, feel free to do with that as you will~

Gosh, do I love discovery writing. The freedom. The sense of play. The way you have to hold the material lightly and follow where it leads, never being afraid to scrap things that don't work or to rewrite to emphasize things that do. You have the fun of discovering the story you're writing rather than the frustration of being unable to capture the ideas in your head. This way might wind up taking ages, but it makes the writing process such a joy.

Any of you ever find a new thing you're interested in and you want to know and see more of it, only to find out that thing has been dead or gone for a while and the person/people behind it did something awful or got in some bad controversy?
Cause I have and it's with this:
Tumblr media
So I was rewatching some old/classic web animations (mostly Eddsworld, SMB Z, and archived newgrounds animations) and I saw this in one of the playlist that has a bunch of those animations. I only watched it because it was next in the queue but after a couple of minutes I was kinda hooked on it and kept on watching, after a while I decided to watch it till the end, and well...I was really interested.
Sure it was REALLY dated with how it looks and feels, plus the characters and the concept or setting are really standard and could use some improvements, but I thought to myself while searching for more stuff about this series: "Eh, it's part of the charm with these old web animations. Also this was just the pilot episode so surely there's more to come, surely it'll get better from here, surely this'll be a good or at least fine series that'll have some charm and laughs with absolutely nothing bad happening to-" yeah that didn't happen and I wished it did instead of what actually happened.
Yeah so going over every unfortunate thing that happened would take like forever (I think based on what other people have said) so I'll just give you a short summary of what happened: The creator (animated james) canceled the series after two short seasons, he was exposed to have some questionable actions and/or interest which of course led to controversy, and he disappeared from the internet (wherever he is I hope he's doing well). Yup it's another "a classic content creator's downfall" situation...
Okay but you might be thinking to yourself: "What about the series itself and it's two short seasons? Is it any good, is it another case of separating the art from the artist, did it at least leave a bittersweet taste behind?" well....no. Yeah I'm very sorry to any C Students fans out there, I understand if you like this series and think it's really great or an underappreciated gem from the past, I get that and I respect it, but C Students is just really meh to me.
"Well what is C Students?" you might ask, well according to the wiki: C Students is animated web series centered upon a group of teenagers and their life and misadventures in Hartlane High School. Yup, that's all it is from the wiki, and it's actually fitting because that's is ALL this series is about, it's literally just another "teen high school - slice of life & comedy" series kinda like the ones you would find on Nickelodeon or Disney Channel back in the 2000s, except this time it's animated...which isn't really giving it much, like aside from the expressions, some of the movements, and a few things here and there you can have this series in live action instead and it would not be any different.
The characters don't improve or change even slightly from their basic one-note roles/stereotypes in the pilot, similarly the misadventures and situations they go on or find themselves in aren't that interesting or different compared to those from any other series in the genre, and the humor is...the same as those from any other series of this kind, not to say that it's all bad but it's definitely got a lot more misses than it does hits as the later episodes go on, hell even the mature jokes have all aged in varying conditions (both generally and based on the controversy). Speaking of which, that's kind of the overall problem I have with C Students: It clearly looks and feels like a comedic slice of life high school series, but it also tries to be serious and act like it has something important to tell, and it's obvious that it doesn't mix together or handled well. Like for example there's the music video "Creative Types" which is great to watch and listen on it's own, but when put alongside the actual episodes it feels out of place and doesn't feel like it's from the same series at all, which it is even if it's not canon to the main series' timeline. So TLDR: It peaked at the pilot and it slowly and sadly went downhill
However the thing that upsets me more than anything else about this series is...It could be good! It could've been better! I wish it could've been better! I wish it could've entertained us with something different or interesting to it's concept or genre in the same way as The Looney Tunes Show does to suburban sitcom, I wish it could've mixed/handled/balanced the more serious and mature stuff better like Smiling Friends, I wish it could've had some nice charm and laughs to it at least.
Which is why I'm planning on making my own take/version of C Students! Yes I know it's another one to add to my pile of "stuff I've planned out but never actually making", but that's the thing with me unfortunately: I'm good at planning or making ideas and not so much on actually making them come to life, I'm just one person and the idea of making a long running thing on your own without any help whatsoever is terrifying, I'm the one with the blueprints and I need other people to actually construct the thing. But anyways yeah, that was my personal thoughts on C Students (If you don't like or disagree with it then feel free to do so as it is MY opinion and you shouldn't feel obliged to agree with it) I'm PROBABLY gonna make my own take on this series sometime soon, hopefully we'll see how that turns out
EDIT: So I found out that the seasons I watched was a fan-continuation of the series not by the OG creator, but all my points still stand as it would've been more or less the same as canon (according to the creator and people in the comments)

This had all been your coworkers idea. If you’re going to be away for a convention all week in some nothing town in the midwest, why not cut loose on your last night?
Your company had insisted on paying for everything, and the bar downstairs was no exception. You were sure they intended for you to use it to chat up potential clients you’d met at your company’s booth. Smile flirtatiously, look pretty, and drive some business while the liquor flowed. You know, saleswoman stuff.
Sitting by yourself in your little party dress, ordering drink after drink on the company card, all while gossiping with just your sales partner, it drove a spike of guilt into your gut. What if your bosses found out? Would they make you pay it back?
Two hours in and your friend had left you to find the restroom. You sat alone, swirled the ice at the bottom of your glass and listened to industry chatter. You seriously considered just closing your tab and heading back up to your shared room to forget all about this. Your heels were starting to pinch your toes anyway.
That was your plan until a warm, unfamiliar, hand slid across the satin back of your dress.
“Think I remember this pretty face,” the tall, blonde, man said sliding in to stand next to you. “Been looking for you all night.”
It took you more than a few moments to place him. His voice was very familiar, but you’d met so many people even just today. A suited man with a southern accent hardly jogged your memory. It didn’t help he wasn’t wearing his lanyard anymore.
“Don’t remember me, sweetheart?” he asked, seeing the confusion on your face. Not a moment later you were catching his hand in a handshake. “Philip Graves?”
“Shadow Company?” you guessed, heartbeat picking up and eyes widening at the hope that maybe you were right.
“Right on the money, darlin’,” he said with a finger gun and beaming smile that crinkled the scar on his cheek. “So smart. Knew you’d remember me,” he said turning to call the bartender over.
Remember him? No. You certainly didn’t. The convention was full of his type: slick salesmen and middle-managers that were more eager to get drunk on their boss’ dime than network. Not that you were any better, considering, but that was besides the point. While you loved a man in a suit, there had just been too many to remember anything more than the important ones, people interested in contracting with you and your company.
In truth, that’s why you remembered the stupid name of his company. The money he casually talked about spending had your partner practically salivating at your booth and you burning the logo from his business card in your mind. If he was legit, the commission alone would set you up for the rest of the year.
A fresh drink slid your way and suddenly a pair of glittering baby-blue’s were on you.
“Promised to buy you a drink, remember?” he said, taking a sip of the brown liquid at the bottom of his own glass. You nodded, switching full for empty. Why not let him rack up his own expenses account? From his suit to his drink, he clearly had the money to spend. “Rather talk business like this,” he said smiling, leaning against the bar and down into your space. “More fun.”
Tumblr media
One drink became two, then three. All while swapping stories Phil, that quickly became less about business and more about pleasure. You were laughing and smiling more than you had in months. You felt amazing, happy even.
Then . . . you weren’t sure. Where had your coworker had gone off to? Had she even come back? Did she say something about going to bed? You couldn’t remember. All you cared about was the smell of Phil’s cologne, woody and musky, mixing with the bitter snap of the whiskey as he leaned down into your space.
You were pretty sure the decision to leave was his. Couldn’t get too sloppy, especially surrounded by industry folk. Word traveled fast and the last thing you wanted was to gain a reputation or lose sales. You would literally rather die, so you let Phil walk you back to your room. He was a perfect gentleman: pulling out your stool and holding out a hand to help you down, even slowing down to match your pace as you found your bearings again in your heels. The both of you said your polite goodnight’s as you walked out of the bar with your hand on his arm.
It was all going smoothly until you wobbled in the elevator. You lost balance, the heel of your shoe buckling out from under you. You didn’t plan on it. Didn’t plan on landing against his chest, or having him steady you with his strong, warm arms, let alone letting slip an audible moan. You apologized immediately in a semi-coherent ramble, but he didn’t let you go.
“You’re sharing your room, right?” he asked cooly, the elevator ticking ever upward toward your floor, his arm still around your waist.
“Yeah,” you admitted quietly into his tie. Fuck, you thought squishing your heated cheek against the cool cotton of his button down. You really didn’t want this to end. Nothing appealed to you less than your lumpy, cold, queen mattress and the room full of musty clothing waiting for you.
Without another word, Phil reached over and pressed a floor above yours. The click of the button was deafening in the little space. His hand caressed your hip, sliding up the silky fabric, stopping to grip your ribs below your breasts. It was nothing lewd, even in public. The thrill of discovery though, as the elevator shuddered to a stop, doors opening to nothing, then slowly closing, had you trembling in his hands.
Maybe it was just the alcohol, but you couldn’t find a damn to give about business relationships or appearances anymore. His other hand tipped your chin up to look at him, your breath caught in your chest.
“Wouldn’t want to disturb your friend, right?” he said petting his thumb below your lip as he bent down. Your hand gripped into the front of his shirt. “Got my own room,” he breathed over your face, words seductive and whiskey warm. “‘s too big f’ just me, you know. Been lonesome all this week. Mind keeping me company?”
You shook your head. No sir, you thought right before he kissed you, wouldn’t mind at all.

Bugtober 2024- Day 15: AU
~And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit /… / hath his name Apollyon.~
I had several ideas for today, but ultimately I decided to draw Apollyon as its namesake, as well as my favourite character in BoI!
