Oi. so

Reverse Httyd where Toothless bites/rips off Hiccup's leg at the start of the movie. Hiccup then falls into the cove and is trapped there, or maybe he already was in the cove from the struggle during the dragon attack, but... he can't get out. And he is like actively dying from the blood loss, the pain, possible infection, exposure.

He hasn't got long. No one finds him, it's so deeply in the woods.

It's Toothless who has to decide to nurse Hiccup back to health/bring him back to his people, but it's Hiccup so he'll somehow still put up a fight against his deadly dragon enemy. Toothless is gonna have to earn this scrawny and injured human's trust.

Did you all know I come up with au ideas in every fandom I've jumped into? I don't always post them but I create ideas. Well now you do! The hyper fixation for one of them is coming back and I thought I share some of these ideas.

First fandom is the How to Train Your Dragon! I will admit pretty much all of these are Astrid centered. I saw so many focus on Hiccup back in my fanfiction.net days, a certain au being very popular that, tbh I didn't care for, for reasons. And that isn't a had thing, I love Hiccup, I just kinda wanted to explore another character.

Hybrid Astrid AU:

I think I posted about this one a little bit, but I don't remember. This used to be my favorite au, and I only ever found two fics of it, both still incomplete to my knowledge.

In my version of this au, Astrid is the by-product of her mother being cursed by a god to fall in love with her enemy for one night. That enemy being a night fury. Astrid's mom left the village after that, refusing to tell anyone what happened. She secretly gave birth to Astrid and then left her for her father to raise.

Astrid has really only known other dragons her whole life. Her older brother refuses to let her get close during raids and has her stay by his side. Being by his side is how she gets tangled in the bola with him the night they are shot out of the sky.

This incident also led Astrid to meet her first human, Hiccup. As the two teens get closer, Astrid is learning about her mother's people. Before Astrid was very distrusting of humans, and even a part of her hated her human half. Her mind slowly changes the longer Hiccup refuses to leave her and her brother alone. Hiccup, trying to get Toothless back in the air and teaching Astrid to read and write, also scored him some huge bonus points. This eventually leads into Astrid confronting her mommy issues when Hilda Hofferson returns to Berk and finds the girl she gave birth to now fifteen years older.

Blind Astrid AU:

This one I've made a few different versions of, but essentially, it goes down the path that Astrid's blindness is permanent. Sometimes, I play with it happening earlier, and sometimes I add other stuff to it like magic.

A current version I've been playing with is that it happens earlier than rtte, and I've been adding magical elements. So basically, how did this version goes down is that Astrid still loses her sight from lightning getting to close, but instead, being on land, she was with Stormfly trying to race back to Berk and get out of a storm. The near hit throws both Astrid and Stormfly into the water where a nearby dragon who lives with Valka finds them. Astrid wakes up in Valka's sanctuary with her sight missing and her magic ramped up to a level she had trouble controlling.

In this version I added magic because fuck it why not. Humans can unlock magic via bonding with dragons. It's usually at a gradual pace, so the human's body can adjust, and they can learn to control it. Severe injuries such as Hiccup's missing leg and Astrid's now blindness can send this magic into overdrive as a way to heal the body and / or compensate for the injury. I also like playing into that everyone's magic has a different feel to it.

Astrid's feels like a hearth. Warm, secure, like home. But if she loses her temper that warm feeling can definitely burn.

Hiccup's feels like electricity. Leaving like tingles if you brush up against his magic, though at full force can feel like a direct hit of lightning during a storm. Ask Snotlout he knows.

Anyway, Astrid becomes a student to Valka as she relearns how to ride and wield her magic. During a mission Astrid finds herself on the Edge and back amongst her fellow riders.

Role Reversal Plus a Baby AU:

This one I know I posted about before, but here it is again. This is basically a role reversal of Hiccup and Astrid where he's the celebrated son of the chief, and she's the social outcast who comes from a disgraced family due to the Flightmare incident. But the plot twist there is an arranged marriage between Hiccstrid. Another plot twist Astrid got banished after the incident in the arena. Third plot twist the story starts during race to the edge, and it turns out Astrid had Zephyr during her banishment.

Selkie AU:

This one is more for amusement than anything else because can you imagine someone trying to take selkie Astrid's coat? She would whoop their ass into next Tuesday. I think a running theme in here would be Hiccup keeps giving Astrid her coat back. He sees someone try to take it while she's out in human form and though Astrid doesn't need it he helps her get it back.

Astrid is touched by this, and over time, she falls in love with Hiccup. She feels like she can trust him with her coat, which is a huge thing in selkie culture. So she proposes marriage and offers him her coat. Only Hiccup doesn't know selkie culture beyond what he has observed from Astrid and what she's explicitly told him. The major thing he does know is you never take a selkie's pelt, it's basically trapping them. So he gives it back.

Astrid is flabbergasted, her selkie friends Ruffnut and Tuffnut, are laughing their asses off, and poor Hiccup has no idea what he just did. Astrid is a determined selkie though and refuses to give up. Ruff and Tuff are ready to cause chaos in the background.

Eyyyy, last fic for Hiccanna Month 2023!!! This is @lovestrucklyuniverse’s submission for the Week 4, Day 3 prompt: Role Reversal AU! We’re finally almost ready to get started sharing this year’s submissions, haha!

But this fic...wow. What an absolute banger of a fanfiction grand finale for HiccannaMonth23 :O I’m honestly floored by how well done this is. Anna and Hiccup have always lended themselves pretty well to a role reversal--Anna definitely has the brashness, impulsivity, aggressiveness, and stubbornness of a viking, while Hiccup is a mild-mannered, intelligent diplomatic type who could easily be a prince. It would have been easy to do something relatively straightforward here--"Anna is a misfit in her village and befriends a dragon, Hiccup is a prince who feels inadequate and unappreciated because his father feels more regal and royal"--and that would be totally valid!!!

But Autie really took the time to think about how their life experiences, personalities, beliefs, and value systems would be different if Anna was raised in a viking village and Hiccup was raised in a castle. She put so much work and care into making their personalities fit with the environments they grew up in, and it shows! This was such a delight to read all the way through, and the way their stories’ lore was woven into one another’s backstory was so well done. Also, the “inciting incident” of sorts that got both Hiccup and Anna headed off on the journey where they met each other is honestly genius. The way these two stories were blended and rearranged to make something new and fun was really cleverly done and super refreshing to read.

And the full story’s not done yet--needless to say, I’m excited for even more!

Httyd andreil au but Andrew is stoic and Neil is valka. That's all I got, I saw an edit of stoic seeing valka again and I went "oh that's andreil" and then I immediately came here to tell you. I unno Kevin can be hiccup I guess

ohhhhhh my god this has done unimaginable damage to me.

neil escaping from nathan (renowned dragon hunter and warmonger) building a life on berk and slowly falling in love with the chief's (wymack) adopted son and heir andrew. neil always being a little bit different when it comes to dragons and advocating towards nonviolent solutions. andrew being intriguied and obsessed and the slowbuild of trust and love between them...

andreil getting married after wymack steps down and gives andrew the chiefdom...a few years later an orphaned kevin shows up on berk because his late mother said it was run by good men...andreil adopting a baby kevin who loves all things dragon and reminds andrew so much of the neil he first met and fell in love with...

nathan finding neil after Years of happiness and torturing him / preparing to kill him while using dragons to attack and destroy berk, a dragon deciding to save a half dead neil, but is unable to kill nathan. neil escapes but he's convinced it's his fault that berk has been ravaged and vows to not come back until nathan is dead...

berk being mostly fine post attack except everyone now believes neil died to dragons and andrew reverses back to his cold unfeeling apathetic self who's filled with a furious rage every moment of his life. the andrew he was with neil is practically unrecognizable, but he's not a bad chief because he truly does care and want whats best for the village...httyd 1 and 2 happening...

neil reuniting with andrew and just begging him to say something to hit him or scream or get angry because neil left when he promised to stay and how could andrew have anything but true hatred for him. andrew seeing neil with countless new scars and the his first words to him are still "you're as beautiful as the day i lost you..."

I have been roleplaying for about 8-9 years and am very detailed in my responses! I try to match replies so if it's short then it's short or if it's long then it's long. Despite living in New York for years now, he never shook off that Midwestern talk.

Logan Howlett, by far the oldest of the whole table at the moment, gave a small snort as he let out the smoke of his cigar. "A rock? No. Runnin' for our lives is more like it. Not every day for pleasantries or domesticity." He stated firmly, before setting down a red reverse card onto the short pile. "Your turn, bub. . ." He leaned back in his seat with a huff.

i wanna get another longish fic or oneshot done and dusted! i know i yapped a lot ab fake grandson au when i was writing it but while it got tiring towards the end it was also REALLY SATISFYING so i want to replicate that this year 😌😌 if i’m ambitious, maybe even two!?

i am going to take this chance to talk about THREE okay so first of all. i did a poll last week and “iruma goes back to the human world” won. so thats one. im gonna do the au where iruma gets sent back with his memory wiped because he got outed (and the other two in the love trio follow). technically this ,, isn’t exactly new, but i don’t like how i wrote it so far so i think i’m gonna scrap the whole thing and start again lol.

next! miss laurence !! again i already wrote a littol bit but its not even that much so it totally counts as a new project !! i just wanna play with her and harcourt you know how it is. and i think the research will be very very fun. i may have to crack open some classics even heehee

finally! original fiction! ive done a bunch of planning and figuring out the worldbuilding blabla but i havent actually started it and anyway it’s about this guy who’s like., 30, and he ends up fusing himself with his pet goat in an awful accident. his old maid now has to try to get this reversed before he DIES of ORGAN DAMAGE. cue running around everywhere with a ten year old and a goat chimera.

mmm lets do another wip. i looove the httyd au it’s so funny. dragon kirio is ‘tormenting’ iruma who is just some poor sod living in a village. here’s the start (mind there’s a dead rabbit):

It’s a wonderful day, and Iruma is holding the regurgitated remains of a dead rabbit in his hands.

It was on his doorstep in the morning, the body headless and steam curling off the somewhat mangled flesh. The rabbit was a big one too — even with the damage, it’ll make for at least a week’s worth of stew, and he’ll be able to share it besides. 

He knows where the rabbit came from, of course. Or who, rather. He just doesn’t know where the thing went off to.

Iruma looks to his left, towards the houses a little ways off and closer to the heart of the village, and then to his right, where the Old Wood lies. The vague hope of spotting gleaming eyes or a flash of scale is dashed very quickly; it was a fruitless idea, anyhow, since any dragon worth its salt knows how to make a quick escape.

Azz in particular is of the opinion that it isn’t worth any salt at all, and sometimes Iruma would agree, but — he hefts the bedraggled looking rabbit in his arms. The dragon does make a compelling case for itself.

“Thank you!” he calls out in the general direction of the woods. There’s no visible response except for a sparrow startling away from the sudden noise. Iruma shrugs, secures his grip on the body, and plods round to the back of his house to prep it.

thinking about how integral Toothless' tail would become to reach out to Hiccup so they can build their friendship.

If Hiccup isn't letting Toothless near him at first, Toothless has got to communicate with the boy somehow.

The tail is used to sliiiide supplies over there. To bridge distance. To show vulnerability. Cuz if Hiccup chops that tail off, (which is a trick he could still be knowing from Gobber) Toothless is as immobilized as Hiccup. And Toothless must expect revenge.

So to use his tail to shove things, to protect, to cradle Hiccup... that's Toothless' reverse hand thing. And he'll lose that symbolically later.
