Thinking further about this... it's Astrid who discovers Hiccup after weeks of the Chief going nuts, and all that frantic searching and tracking... only for Hiccup to be completely at peace lol, living in friendship with the dragon who took his leg, enjoying some slow flights over the sea Idk, and frankly feeling more taken care of than during his entire childhood. He's got a flock of terrible terrors too, who he's trained to provide him with stuff and who he plays with. They keep him excellent company.

Astrid will be going like "you have Stockholm syndrome, you idiot", but Hiccup will of course just show her. And he'll ask her not to take him back just yet, and not to tell of his whereabouts to his father.

And she'll trust him.

Concept that the Durselys run so far from the owls that first year, they go all the way to the US. Then they think, what if he just wasn't our problem anymore? So they abandon Harry in the crime capital of the world because it'll surely never get back to them.

Little eleven year old Harry walking around the seedy streets of Gotham, both wondering if his relatives will come back and knowing that they won't. And then he turns a corner and meets a very tall man (older teenager, but he's eleven so).

Harry stares at Jason. There's a weird sort of energy (magic) surrounding the man. Weird and very familiar to Harry in a way he can't describe.

He opens his mouth and the words come out before he even knows that he's going to say, "You're supposed to be dead."

Jason raises an eyebrow at the kid. "I was. It didn't agree with me." He looks around. "It's gettin' late and you're a bit far from the tourist-friendly parts of the city. Lose your parents, kid?"

"Yes. They're dead." He stares at Jason. "It agreed with them."

I was paying attention to Eiche's tattoos/markings and a thought came to my mind: eyes painted on the back oh their helmets/armor in a similar fashion to how animals have "fake eyes" to deter attacks from bigger predators (I mean, realistically it would probably be counterintuitive since maybe they would make them easier targets (?), but it was an interesting thought)

Huh, never thought about that! I imagine if anything she uses it to draw fire from the others since she looks more dangerous (personalized armor? must be a commando) and catches attention in general and gets people to focus on her more. Really she carved them so she feels closer to whatever entity the feels is watching over her, like extra protection, but she very quickly learned that it does make her a bigger target and she might as well utilize it. I figure now that whenever they need attention drawn it's usually her and Cricket (cricket being a heavy unit and eiche being more distracting) to further confuse the enemy.

it does creep some of the others out though, especially newbies.
