You know, considering how uncanny Astartes are, I do wonder how Lilith felt when she first met her new "brothers".
I imagine it probably went one of two ways:
the first way (and the more unlikely), was that she was okay with them fairly quickly and ended up quickly taking to calling them her big brothers. This is the way that Sanguinius would largely prefer.
The second and most likely was that she was quite scared of them at first, not liking how some had her father's face, and mixed with this being the revenant legion, she had a habit of straight up hissing at them and trying to make herself look bigger then she is. This would be adorable if she didn't nearly claw one poor bastard's face off and made good on her threats. It took her a full year to get used to them without hissing or biting.

One thing I don't get with blood angels and the red thirst is how did everyone just forget that it existed?
They were called the The Revenant Legion before they met sanguinius and I'm pretty sure it's implied that the other chapters all keep their distance because of how bloodthirsty and violent they were.
And like you wouldn't forget the time you watched one of them drain a serf dry of blood and rip out the throat of another.
Like your gonna remember that.
So I like to imagine a scene where sanguinius decides to come clean to all of his brothers and they all already know XD
Blood angels all in the corner being like bye dad we love you ā•„ļ¹ā•„
Sanguinius: thank you for meeting me brothers and father. I can hide the truth no longer. I have a truly evil secret that I have been hiding all this time. A shameful dark secret that may very well make you think me and my legion monsters I-
Big E: Is this about the vampire corpse eating thing?
Sanguinius: .....
Roboute: Do u mean that weird trance where they go into a rage and bite everyone? Yeah if you could try and get that under control brother I'd appreciate it. :/
Dorn: i sanctioned them after the Second Siege of Yarant. They ate prisoners in front of the enemy.
Fulgrim: Yes I remember. They would walk around with gore and blood all through their hair and armor. Absolutely ghastly! They smelt worse then Cruze and the death guard put together! Really brother I don't know HOW you were able to turn them around.
Sanguinius: ......
Big E: Well anyway son hopefully you get that sorted out because I'm pretty sure Malcador would force me to sleep on the couch if I got rid of another legion HAHAHA XD
Sanguinius: ........

ā€œThe Revenants of the XIVth. New one. After Guilliman came back he remade the Ultramarines. After a while, he let me make my chapter into a legion. I was one of the few things that were familiar. Iā€™m Darius, Chapter Master of the Revenants of the XIVth. I lead it, I justā€¦havenā€™t changed the title yet. Survivor of Istvaan III. Loyalist Son of Mortarion.ā€
The other Revenants lower their weapons aswell.
ā€œArenā€™t you an oddity?ā€ Darius asks, lowering Outcast. ā€œYouā€™re a primarch. And I donā€™t remember you. 2nd or 11th?ā€
Other Revenants around their chapter master all murmur in either shock or amazement.
"By the stars, how thoroughly did my father erase my name?" Tlatia murmured, lowering her own pistol and motioning for her honor guard to do the same. "Tlatia. Eleventh. Dawn Legion. I don't recognize your heraldryā€”what Legion are you part of?"

Couple quick busts for some of the characters I write for our Chronicle (there's like 50ish of them in total, crippling OC addiction, terminal). Tess Lovrić (She/Her) - Gangrel: Fiercely compassionate murder machine, very protective of her pack and totally exasperated by them always getting themselves into all sorts of trouble. Grumpy but with a sense of humour. Samson Ward (He/Him) - Brujah: Bad Boy Metalhead, philosopher, Noddist, all around charismatic nerd in tight leather pants. Got a whole little dichotomy theme going on with half his body covered in Demonic tattoos and the other in Angelic ones. Heaven and Hell, Living and Dead, Evil and Divine. Yeah huge Milton nut, obviously. Gilead (He/Him(?)) - Tzimisce: Big, evil millenia-old Voivode. Very much a champion of ye olden Ways and the General of the Warhost (AKA the toolbox of heinous Koldunic Sorcery and fucked up Szlachta I can throw at my players). Total Wife-guy and father to a whole legion of Revenant kids. Orestes (They/Them, He/Him) - Tzimisce: One of Gilead's aforementioned spawn, little edgelord trying to coast off dad's impressive track record and desperately trying to make him proud. Imago (It/Its) - Tzimisce: Despite its strange appearance, a very timid and gentle soul, unfortunately cursed with a supernatural affliction that forces it to replace its failing body with fresh human flesh. It tends to assume the face, voice and height of whoever it converses with, trying to make them feel more comfortable (with varying results). Valeska Velika Vesta (She/Her) - Tzimisce: Camarilla Tzimisce (Oh there's so much to unpack here) and probably one of the most villainous PCs I've written recently. Typical Dracula type, which suits her since she's a distant descendant of his lineage. Proud, ambitious, repelled by crosses and garlic, a landlord AND petty nobility so you know she's evil for real. Escanor (He/Him) - Gargoyle: Mean-girl, aspiring Harpy and spite-embraced. Yes, he was supposed to be a Toreador and he won't shut up about it. Self-obsessed, overly dramatic and writing call-out posts on his fellow Kindred. Also a sculptor, cause of course he is. Also gay, cause duh. Deacon McLain (He/Him) - Nosferatu: Clan Whip, big-bro-friend to all the younger Nosferatu, Warrens Handyman. Former Rust Belt mechanic so he's got a bit of a bone to pick with Ventrue types too. Devon Quinlan (He/Him) - Nosferatu: Goth Metal rockstar performing under a masked pseudonym, pretty much a 90's goth antihero vigilante type on the side. Zora Bratovitch (She/Her) - Revenant: 130 year old, crusty hag of a Revenant. Absolutely LOATHES those fucking leeches and keeps reminding them just how much she hates them. Runs a traveling carnival where she performs with her Bratovitch-bred trio of white lions.

Kairo Windshear
Ash Legion Centurion, Revenant. 25-37 years old (Core-Janthir) Grandcub of Almorra Soulkeeper, half-brother of Ember Doomforge
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Still got things to sort out with him, but he's a guy who's proud of his skills, as to how that links to his personality I'll figure out after I play him more. He's stealthy despite the heavy armour, partly due to the ability to dissolve part into the Mists and teleport as a revenant.
His main legend is Shiro Tagachi, he plays 'buddy' with the legend, but really he's just using Shiro's magic for his own use. Of which he has a a small flamberge which he surrounds in magical lifestealing Jade in the form of a snake thanks to it. His offhand sword is stolen Inquest tech. Effective, portable and easily concealable.
He also has the shortbow Ashfall for times he can't get close.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In-game he's a Vindicator, but I imagine him being his own unique thing. Rather than a jump in the air, he instead vanishes into the Mists and causes a wind-like torrent of slashes where he was before rematerialising.

July Tinapple
Engineer ā€¢ Iron Legion ā€¢ She / Her ā€¢ 18 years old.
Future Commander in an alternative AU in which my other Charr don't exist. An AU that is closer to the original Story, yet with a small twist: She is the daughter of Tybalt Leftpaw.
She is also my go to replay the whole Story of GW2 again. Its ages since I last did it.
So you might see her grow in her role as Commander.
More about her under the cut: (Beware of long text / brabble)
July is a temperamental Charr with a short fuse. She lives in the shadow of her sire - getting reminded of his disgrace all her life. That's why she got the name Tinapple in her warband - just to mock her. But also as a reminder of where their roots lie. For July its a fuel to prove everyone she is better than her Sire. That she will never be a disgrace and serve the legion well. She works hard - extremely hard.
Even more when her Warband nearly got wiped during the AscalonianĀ Ghost attack. Only Maverick remained - her best friend, but also mate for a short time. Their relationship won't last long - it just didn't work out - a recurring theme in her life. But they stay best friends - even later on. Maverick is a person she loves to return to, when she want's to forget the weight of the world. He will never be a friend to talk to about heavy topics, but at least someone who knows how to distract her.
"Looks like failure runs in the family" - a sentence that makes July blood boil. She gets to hear that often after loosing a huge chunk of her warband. It slowly fades, after she proves herself over and over again. Granting her soon the title of Centurion. Her constant need to prove herself lets her slip into something, she actually never wanted to sign on. And she will be too proud, to admit that this title might be to much for her. She will become the Commander - a huge and important figure in the history of Tyria.
And it starts with joining one of the three big orders. But instead of joining Vigil, the order she actually wanted to join. She ends up in the Order of Whispers, where she gets reunited with her Sire. All because of an sarcastic joke and false pride, to admit she wanted to join another Order.
At first she is not happy to see her Sire. He despises him for all the trouble he caused her, for just being related to him. But she will warm up to him. Even starting to see him as a father.
Only to have him ripped from her later on. She will grow so unbelievable angry at this. Hatred against her Sire,... her father will once again boil up. Only to cover how hurt she is, loosing him. July always had problems to express her true feelings. She hides these behind a loud and rude mouth. She will rather yell at you, then admit she is hurt. Its easier. It always was.
She will channel all the hatred for the fight against the Elder-Dragons. She wants them dead - each of them. This might change when she finds an egg - forming a huge crack in all this hatred has accumulated all these years.
Some loose bits: (that might change with replaying the story)
Trahearne, he will play a huge part in her development. He can't ease her pain and the hatred she feels for the world. But he will become someone she looks up to. Someone she feels first sees her worth. Who is truly proud of her. Who believes in her. Despise all her flaws. (Imagine the heartbreak during HoT)
She has terrible anger issues. Something she has to work on for many years.
She is an emotional mess. And she does her best to hide this ugly side. Just as the anger that boils in her.
She is incredible talented in her craft as Engineer. She will take huge part in crafting weapons against Dragons and their minions. They will be effective and absolutely deadly.
Later she will definitely pick up on Jade-Tech
Yet during all the years as Commander, she constantly doubts her abilities. She fears she is not strong enough - especially when Rytlock comes back as Revenant. He is so much more powerful than her. All she can do is craft stuff. Maybe hit hard with her Hammer,... but thats it. Without her Gadgets she is nothing. This gnaws on her a lot.
At one point she might ask Rytlock to take over as Commander - maybe after HoT. Of course he will refuse.
She is friend with Kairo Windshear (Belongs to @brightwingedbat) We still have to figure out a lot. But so far it looks like their relationship is messy. They hooked up for a while, but like with Mav, - it didn't worked out.
She will pickup the love / fixation for apples from her dad.
July desperately seeks for a meaningful something / relationship. Something to hold onto - something that won't leave her and maybe see her. Not the angry mess - but also the person behind all this. Just,... a constant in her life. An anchor, to make her feel safe.
At this point of her journey I'm not sure if she will find it or how this will look like. Will she find a soulmate - as a everlasting friendship or love? Will she make peace with her role as Commander and start to thrive in this role? Will the sudden motherhood for Aurene bring her that? Or with own Cubs?
Who knows. At this point her pages are still blank. Its on her to fill these.
(While writing this,... Gw2 Story has so many moments where they give the Commander something and then its taken away. Even in a way Aurene. Man,... you can fit so much trauma in the Commander. July,... I'm sure you will do your best, but I already see a lot of suffering for you ahead. Good thing she is stubborn,...)
---
And bonus, some screens of her and Tybalt, shortly after their first meeting.

He tries hist best.

If it helps, I came straight from being deep into the anime Hellsing and then right into Warhammer alongside having a deep and intimate love for Bloodborne. I know nothing of Konrad aside from him being unhinged, haunted by visions and being a feral rat. That is my favourite type of character. He just seems like the type of guy to both gut you like a fish, and knock back a shot of vodka while telling you to fuck off. Love me some unhinged bitches.
Now inbetween Mjod and Baal's alcohol? They're on the same level hilariously enough. Leman finds out that baselines from baal don't bat a fucking eye at Mjod because everything is so radioactive they're literally just built different, hence them having such strong booze. (They try to turn it down for off-planets)
However, there is one issue; Sanguinius' alcohol tolerance, as a primarch he already has unholy amounts of tolerance, however he has wings and thus more blood plus he's from Baal. Man can drink all his brother's under the table and still only be tipsy. This applies to his sons, they think Mjod is nothing special. But then again what do you expect from the legion that constantly imbibes alcohol but never appears drunk? There is a reason for it. Leman is trying his best to make something that might get Sanguinius drunk as easily as Mjod gets every other space marine chapter drunk. Leman shall not be out drunk by an oversized pigeon. Sanguinius still needs to eat the corpse though. The person is already dead and they (probably) deserved it knowing Konrad, so he won't be eating later, he supposes-
Shit post on Konrad and Sanguinius' relationship: Konrad: I bring gifts, brother Sanguinius: This is a dead body. Why are you giving me a dead body?
Konrad: Oh that was supposed to be alive still, must have accidentally touched something vital then. Oops, I can get something fresher if you like
Sanguinius: Konrad... no, it's fine... just why? You're not answering my question.
Konrad: Don't you need blood? I thought it I'd bring food because I never see you eat any.
Sanguinius, oddly touched: Konrad, that's what the Karash is for, why do you think I don't offer it to my guests? It has human blood in it.
Konrad: So you're getting drunk on wine when you feed?
Sanguinius: .....Not really, do you have any idea how strong alcohol is on Baal? Karash is nothing compared to that. I'd have to consume over three barrel's worth for it to do anything to me.
Konrad, now curious: May I try some?
Sanguinius: I guess? You are taking this far better then Horus did-
Konrad: That's because Horus is a pussy. Anyway, *tries some, proceeds to choke* That isn't wine, that's straight up fermented blood, I like you're style. Still, eat the fucking body it'll do you good

Fears x Killers Pt. 3
This is the last part of my little series covering the original killers of DbD and which Fear I think they'd serve in the Magnus Archives.
You can find part 1 here
And part 2 here
You may have also noticed the line-up of this one and realised 2 are actually licences, congratulations, you are smarter and more observant than me when I first drafted this series.
As always this is what Fear I think a killer would serve, not who they'd be tormented by I.E. The Legion would be targeted by The Lonely but wouldn't serve it. With that out of the way, let's begin!
The Singularity
The Extinction
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rounding out our roster, having a killer for each Fear we have Hux! Our "I think therefore I AM" dupe!
Hux is the poster child for The Extinction. His sentience literally starts with fear.
"In that moment, Hux's memory cores were reconfigured, and the robot experienced a new sensation. Fear. Dread. Blinding loneliness. Existential despair." - Hux' lore, dbd wiki
And what do we know of The Extinction? That it'll erase humanity and replace us with the inheritors.
"Some interpretations suggest it might replace us with something new ā€“ that can then fear annihilation in turn." - MAG:134, time of revelation
Hux's existence in the TMA-verse would literally have Dekker foaming at the mouth (r.i.p king).
The Unknown
The Stranger
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now this one was a bitch. If you've not caught up on The Unknown's lore the tl;dr is we don't know. The POV victim isn't even a current survivor, all we know is it's similar to The Dredge, where it's more of an amalgamation of fear, rather than a previous mortal/immortal individual.
It can look like it's victims, it can make hallucinations, drug? You? (still don't know how it's power works). It also hides in the closet (same), fucks with the lights in Olivia's room, mimics voices and has the visual presentation of someone caught in a 10-car pile up.
In conclusion, our short list is The Dark, The Spiral, and my final choice The Stranger. Whilst it's physical distortion might be reminiscent of Micheal or Helen I think its more akin to the fear of the Not-Them or the Anglerfish. Your not scared of your senses failing to comprehend, your scared cos it look likes a person from afar, and sounds like one but it's definitely NOT. Ergo, I banish thee to the Circus.
The Litch
The Eye
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Welcome to the first, but not the only! Entry into the segment "watch me forget what a licence is!"
In all honesty, I totally forgot DnD popularised Litches, legit just thought they were generic undead from folklore like zombies and revenants.
The whole reason I've been avoiding licences is because idk where to draw the line on how much of their og material to include in my decisions. For example!
In DnD lore, Vecna is a power-grabby mage, who is hands on with expanding his realm and eventually becomes an actual fucking God.
However in DbD (these acronyms are gonna be the death of me) he's pretty different. When he finds a book that seems to originate from the realms he starts obsessively researching it's secrets, playing muder-mystery with the Entity, and finally letting himself be consumed by the Entity to find the truth of the power it holds.
Now that last description is firmly The Eye, seeking knowledge, secrets, dooming yourself for the sake of learning forbidden shit yadda yadda (you listened to a whole podcast on that, you know the drill).
However that first description, from the original DnD sources? That's The Web, expanding, scheming, aiming for a lofty a goal as great as Godhood. That's mother (of puppets).
So whilst I'm doing the original killers I'm going to weigh the DbD interpretations as the most important, and in this case they basically created a new character out of Vecna, keeping his Litch-ness and childhood, but changing everything else, so I think basing my justifications mainly of the DbD version is valid.
The Dark Lord
The End
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OH IT GOT WORSE!
So Vecna only had 2 options. His og, linear, DnD storyline or the DbD version.
Dracula is based on ALL the dracula's from castlevania! ALL OF THEM!
Luckily they state on the wiki they're mainly drawing from the 1986 and 1997 version, BUT ALSO in his lore he's killed by Julien who's from the 2002 game!
So, instead of parsing 3 decades of contradicting lore I'm simply going to state my reasonings for why he's The End and you may yell at me for why that's totally contradicted by a flop-1993 game that was sold exclusively in the Republic of Vanuatu and I'll defer to you okay?
Rapid fire: evil career is kicked off due to his wife's death, wanting to revive her he goes on a quest to cheat death, accidentally becomes immortal, continues to be murdered by twunks for centuries, keeps being revived, sometimes against his will.
Comparing this laundry list of traits to our known End avatars (Oliverā™”, the reapers, the guy Dekker lobotomised, baby-killer), an initial run-in with Death that ends in Immortality is quite common.
Finally, The End avatars always seem the least, thirsty? If you look at all the other avatars, they're STOKED to serve their Fear but The End? most just see it as their fate, which seems pretty similar to Dracula, his bargins with death are merely a means to an end (ha).
The Hound Master
The Hunt
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh thank gods we're out of the licences, also we're continuing the trend where we finish on a Hunt avatar!
The Hound Master is the newest killer so we might get more tome and cosmetic lore. This could mean that she aligns more with another fear in the future, but for now I think The Hunt suits her well.
Portia grew up an imaginative girl, her father was a captain that instilled a sense of adventure into her at a young age, something she kept with her, all her life.
Tragically, after the death of her Father at the hands of mad Molak and his son she's marooned on an island half-way in the Entity's realm. She's stranded with only her dog Snug for company. Over the coming years she and Snug would become the Apex predators of this island, facing what's insinuated to be Killers roaming the edges of the realm.
Eventually she manages to escape the island, half-crazed, and missing Snug. Was he just a hallucination? Either way she'll keep searching her peripherals for the rest of her time in the moral world; hunting for Snug's barks.
Driven by a vengeance that's festered for years Portia hunts Molak across the carribean. Slaughtering anyone in her way. Eventually, she finds his hideout and kills his Son, serving his corpse to Molak for dinner. But just as she's about to finally kill him, he's taken by the mist of the realm, as she screams in anguish she also hears a familiar bark from that very same Mist.
Hunting both her greatest enemy and her loyalist friend, Portia enters the realms.
If you can't tell I have a spot spot for the more tragic killers. And whilst most of the killers could swing Hunt, Portia IS a hunter. She very much reminds me of Daisy, where the ends justify the means; being willing to cross any line to get to her quarry.
And that's a wrap on the original killers! If you've read through all 3 parts I'm so sorry for how much you've had to listen to me yap, thank you for bearing with me though!
I'll cover the licenced killers at a later point, probably in two parts, with 6 in one and 7 in the other. As you can tell from my dismay at the 2 I accidentally included in here though it'll be a lot more challenging to come to a decision.
If you have any opinions on if I should value the DbD lore more or less than the original media then let me know.
In any case, as always, thank you for reading.
