Considering the fact that benefactor graffiti of lizards exists, do you think that lizards are some kind of ‘primal fauna’ like moon mentions or that they had some other purpose for the benefactors? They seem very out of place to me compared to other really old organisms like the cabinet beasts

No. Pretty sure purposed organisms had been evolving into unwanted beasts for a while, even as the benefactors were around. Especially as things got abandoned to the surface
