What a complicated part of life is this rite of passage. Suddenly, I was forced to face everything kept under the rug for generations in my family. Finally, I was able to speak, and to transform the guilt, shame, and pain of others I love, into something new. Enlightenment.

One woman I cannot forget who I looked up to during my childhood and teen years was Gwen Stefani, front woman of one of my favorite bands @nodoubt . @gwenstefani was a dominant presence on stage, she always stood for more progressive values, and always wore cool clothes. As a kid, I used to put those stick on earrings in the middle of my forehead to make it look like Gwen’s bindis she wore. I loved her pink hair in 2000 and wanted all the houndstooth during the Rock Steady era. Currently some of my friends from the No Doubt Fan Forum (I joined in 2002 and was a member until it was recently taken down about two weeks ago.) they are trying to get No Doubt back together for a Tragic Kingdom 25th Anniversary tour of which I always post about how I want to sing Just A Girl with Gwen on stage! Anyway, because of my involvement as a fan, I’ve made life long friends two of them being @daniel625ies and @memo90061 Really hoping TK25 happens!
