i saw this and this is SO perfect for shikako: "ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem" (with the sword, she seeks peace under liberty) - maybe something with the shikabane-hime in the gardens-verse?
Okay anon, I did learn a few things about this phrase, specifically: The phrase is often loosely translated into English as "By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty." The literal translation, however, is "she seeks with the sword peaceful repose under liberty." The "she" in question refers to the word manus from the full phrase manus haec inimica tyrannis ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem, which means "this hand, an enemy to tyrants, seeks with the sword peaceful repose under liberty."
Which, you know, is VERY in flavor of my usual “let’s murder Danzo, that’ll take care of at least 95% of the world’s issues” as seen within the Shikako Nara’s Guide To Delinquency and Military Insurrection series which is basically where I put all of my messing around in the Gardens-verse.
But I find myself interested in the, hm… steps of translation for the phrase… like, the original specifically saying “this hand, an enemy to tyrants” which is then removed from the final phrase. However, the final phrase does still keep the sword and also specifically says peace ONLY under liberty.
So my interpretation of this is: once “this hand, [she who is] an enemy to tyrants,” goes away, all that remains is the sword, ie violence, and the prioritization of liberty over peace. Which actually makes me wonder if… hm… I wouldn’t necessarily say a “dark turn AU” but a… pessimistic version of the “let’s murder Danzo, that’ll take care of at least 95% of the world’s issues.” What happens to Konoha as an institution after Danzo is dead and all of his machinations are brought to light?
ESPECIALLY considering how much he claimed to be merely following the Nidaime’s vision. Imagine the repercussions! The implication that Konoha has been so twisted and rotten from its founding. And I’m not saying it’s a return to the Warring Clans Era, because it’s not as if the clans would necessarily rekindle any issues with each other, but how much of the village infrastructure is suspect? How many people did Danzo influence either with the ROOT seal or with Shisui’s eye?
How many clans then think, we are not free under Konoha?
For example, the twins vows when becoming genin prioritize clan, then allies, then teammates, then the village. (I know they had different vows, but I think that’s roughly the order of priority for both of them?) But I can’t imagine—given Hatake Sakumo’s treatment by Konoha when he saved his teammates and “started the war” (although I do have Danzo-related headcanons for that, of course)—that vow would prevent a court martial or disciplinary action.
So if being a good soldier of Konoha contradicts being a good member of the clan, then the existence of Konoha itself is a contradiction to a clan’s existence—I am, of course, exaggerating for the sake of the premise, and I guess what I’m saying is that the premise is:
Shikako killing Danzo does solve a lot of problems, but then unleashes a whole lot of other problems which, unfortunately, a single murder will not solve. Might be multiple murders. Or maybe a war. Whoops.
Because! The fact that the phrase wasn’t shortened to just “Peace [Only] Under Liberty,” the fact that the “by the sword” part was kept is interesting. But a sword without a hand behind it, a sword without an enemy to target, is just an unsheathed weapon that could harm allies or yourself.
So that is the premise, but I don’t know what the plot would be, per se…
OR maybe this is a universe in which someone that ISN’T multiverse-traveling Shikabane-hime clocks Danzo’s rancid vibes and kills him but without a plan to deal with the fall out or a way to deescalate the situation. Like… if it were Shisui and/or Itachi who killed Danzo but in a kind of panicked way. The Uchiha clan is already SO SUSPICIOUS to the rest of the village (at least, that’s the impression they’ve been given) so they can’t come out with a laundry list of Danzo’s crimes and everything will be fine.
Okay, this isn’t the prompt necessarily, but the idea of two freaked out teenage Uchiha just panic whispering to each other over the corpse of Danzo who they just killed while Shikako watches from the shadows, bemused, because… well… they beat her to the punch, but also they have no idea what they’re doing. It’s very funny.

A sneak peek of my contribution for the HashiMada Week 2024 Day 4 prompt “Jutsu”
It’s set during the Founders Era, newly-established Konoha
(Wordcount: Approx. <200)
@hashimada-week
***
In a flash, Madara reached forward to grab Hashirama by the collar, pulling him close.
Unnatural silence descended on the room.
“You forget,” Madara whispered. Barbed wires wrapped in velvet. “I hold as much power as you. I am slated to become Nidaime after you.” His eyes gleamed red, Sharingan flashing like the darting of ominous koi in a pond, before returning to their usual black depths. “Or would you like me to hasten my ascent to the position, Shodai-sama?”
Palpable tension hung in the air, a state of high alert that ramped up higher still the longer the silence grew.
Even so, Madara did not break his gaze from Hashirama.
Something rustled, faint as a morning breeze, but to the two men it might as well have been the deafening roar of a bijū. Both were intimately familiar with the sound of weapons drawn, silent though the movement. Of unseen sentinels ready to activate multiple jutsu at a moment’s notice to protect the Hokage.
Hashirama too did not break his gaze from Madara. Instead, he waved his hands seemingly at nothing.
“Leave us.”

Why so cranky?
"....."
Because of idiotic dumb anons?
Because genetics screwed me over and I got this trait from the Nidaime?
Because one of my team mate is a world renowned pervert and the other is a homicidal maniac?
Because the council is made up of shit heads?
Because my breakfast sucked?
Because I sent a team of gennin on a mission which was supposed to be a C rank and two died?
Because I just sent two ANBU teams after Akatsuki after three never returned?
Because on days I feel like my orders have killed more people than I have ever saved?
"Because Shizune hid my sake again!"

hi.
I loved ur work on the Nidaime Haruno(ao3), and was really curious to know what happened next. Are you abandoning it or…?
(Sorry! I don’t want to sound rude. I just loved the tension and suspense of chapter 6, and was really curious to know whether Sakura and Naruto were going to find that Danzo was kidnapping kids like Kotaro; Danzo was one of Tobirama’s students, so it would be really interesting to see what would happen next.)
If you don’t want to continue the story, please can l try and write what would happen next??? Please? It sounds like an awesome story with an epic idea that just won’t leave my mind.
thanks
┐( ̄~ ̄)┌
Honestly, I’m happy to hear it. I had a story planned out, but I’ve sort of forgotten what it was. That’s not to mean I won’t return to it, because typically rereading a story i started is enough to get me going again, so… I don’t know? Since you asked, I might try to get back to it this summer, when I have more time. I’m glad you were liking the story!

【Draft】 Rurouni Yahiko Chapter 60: The Curtain Falls
We now discuss the aftermath of another assassination attempt by the infamous Brigands Guild.
The Seiryu Clan are now gathering to protect their masters, the hatamoto-class samurai family of the Minakatas, like it's the Tokugawa Era all over again.
As the final daimyo of Shimabara, Tadachika Matsudaira of the Matsudaira Clan pledged his allegiance to Emperor Meiji.
As a show of good will towards the tenets of "Sonno Joi" of the new administration, Matsudaira allowed the new Meiji Government to hunt the Hidden Christians down and eventually crush the new Shimabara Rebellion of Nidaime Amakusa Shiro Tokisada (Shiro Tokisada Amakusa the Second).
Soon afterwards, the Shimabara Domain was abolished in 1871 and it became part of Nagasaki.
To avenge the death of his master (the blind swordsman Hyoue Nishida) at the hands of Hyoue's nephew Shogo Amakusa (at the time known as Shiro Amakusa the Second), Kinta Minakata agreed to infiltrate the ranks of the Kakure Kirishitan (Hidden Christian) cult to destroy it from within on behalf of the Meiji Government.
With his skill with the sword, the former Mimawarigumi Battousai learned to become Amakusa's Kagemusha (literally "Shadow Warrior" but figuratively "Body Double") and master Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu as they continued their insurrection, treason, assassinations, and terrorism of Japan.
Only for Minakata to double-cross the Christians and defeat their cult leader Shiro Amakusa (real name Shogo Muto) in mortal combat. He became their literal Judas Iscariot.
Nevertheless, successfully deploying Kinta's Nisshoku (Solar Eclipse) against a formidable supersonic technique like Shogo's Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki (Heavens Gliding Dragon Flash)wasn't possible to do with just the Aoitsuki O Tsuki Nari (Blue Moon Slash).
The Blue Moon Slash—actually a Double Full Moon Slash done at the fraction of a fraction of a second—might be able to match the Hirameki in speed, but not in power.
Especially since the Amakakeru's left-footed torque gave it enough centrifugal force to create a vacuum or vortex of empty air, thus doubling the impact of the second strike.
Instead of creating a second Full Moon Slash, Kinta used his great skill and timing to reverse the direction of his circular slash from an upwards slash to a downwards one, moving the flipped blade on the same trajectory as before but backwards.
Reversing his momentum gave his sword the torque it needed to match the strength or even surpass the speed of the Hirameki's second slash, thus enabling him to do the Solar Eclipse counter on Shogo's ultimate technique.
Like a reverse-direction Blue Moon Slash that slashed at the same empty space he'd already slashed through previously before the air could fill it up again, resulting in a frictionless strike that perfectly transferred its total energy without any wind resistance.
That was the Tsubame Gaeshi (Swallow Return). This was the ultimate hidden skill taught to Kinta by Amakusa's Uncle Hyoue.
The same one that the black sheep of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu discovered when he hesitated to deliver the killing blow to his own master, Seijuro Hiko XII.
A reverse-momentum riposte after missing with initial the battoujutsu or iaijutsu slash that sliced faster than the Blue Moon Slash and struck as hard as the second Hirameki slash.

Chapter 60: The Curtain Falls
***
Back at the front yard of the Minakata moneychanger office…
It was finally over.
"Ugh, NOOOOO! DAMMIT!" cried out Lucas Grant into the darkness, a velvet cloth of his own blood draping over his consciousness like a curtain over a theater stage, the light from his eyes fading.
He had him. Well, he almost had him. But he had him. He was so close. But he tripped at the finish line and underestimated him.
Or maybe Luke gave Kinta too much respect because his estranged brother truly was a saint among sinners when compared to the rest of his… their scumbag family.
Faster than even a Blue Moon Slash, he got sliced open from hip to shoulder. What just happened? What hit him exactly as he strode on the verge of victory?
"What was that technique?" Luke demanded to know, his body shaking like a leaf, his blood pooling below him.
"The Tsubame Gaeshi," answered Kinta while brushing away his matted hair in between belabored breaths, his face as pale as a ghost's.
While the bloody Lucas steamed with rage, high-blood pressure, and disbelief, Kinta exuded cold sweats, alabaster skin, and a dropping blood pressure.
In spite of himself, Luke laughed, blood spurting all over him in a shower. "Well done, Samurai."
The Prodigal Son then heard the self-proclaimed Fuuma Ninja Kai Hidaka scream something about getting over there.
Luke's head snapped into attention and stared to his side, only to see Kai engaged in battle with a tall blonde woman wielding a naginata.
His vision blurring, Luke had a brief dream of himself practicing the art of kenjutsu with his elder brother Kinta and that same European(?) girl he just saw like they were old childhood friends.
As if his delirium had taken over.
Only for the fantasy to shatter with the reality of him living in squalor as one of the forgotten burakumin (untouchables) of Japan, after the Minakata Family forsook him and his mother.
Only to see a vision of the Minakata’s disowned daughter working in the Red Light District of Yoshiwara to make ends meet for them, which roused him from his dead faint.
As he understood it, they quietly sent her away to preserve the dignity of the Minakata name, whatever that meant.
Tetsuo Akahori revealed the truth about him and the traitorous Minakatas who disowned his mother for having an affair with a foreign dignitary during the heightening tensions and growing anti-foreigner sentiment of Japan at the dawn of the Bakumatsu.
The single mother and her son became collateral damage against the hostility between the kowtowed shogunate, the restless samurai, and the gaijin who forced to open Japan's borders by force, revealing how backwards and primitive the country had become thanks to its isolationism.
No, wait. This was far from over.
***
Many years ago, before Niitsu Kakunoshin became the disciple of Hiko Seijuro XII…
A young, non-blind Hyoue Nishida faced a dilemma.
The deeply religious man needed to kill his beloved (if strict and no-nonsense) Master Hiko to learn the succession technique of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu and become the newest inheritor of the swordsmanship school. However, doing so was at odds with his beliefs.
What was he supposed to do? He really needed to complete his training to protect the Hidden Christians from exposure and persecution from the Shogunate.
He'd heard of the horror stories of how the government tortured anyone they caught practicing this forbidden "foreign" religion, such as nearly drowning them by dunking them upside-down into a well or putting long carpentry nails into their fingertips until they recanted their faith.
Some Christians even had their fingernails plucked right out of their bed. Or they were outright crucified like their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Fearing how Western nations used Christianity to colonize other countries, the Tokugawa Government had a zero-tolerance policy against any citizen converting to Christianity.
This was the reason why the Hidden Christians remained hidden in plain sight, with their churches located inside caves and their statues of Jesus or Mother Mary as well as the cross put under lock and key in secret compartments.
The pacifistic swordsman Nishida wished to have the power to protect these persecuted faithful without spilling any bloodshed. He wanted to practice the Sword of Life the same way he followed the gospel or the Word of Life.
He wished to use Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu as his Sword of Life to wield for the sake of others and to protect people. His people. The Hidden Christians of Shimabara.
He wanted to do so through the same sword that defeated entire armies and saved whole villages during the Sengoku Era.
Those wielding the Sword of Life were absolutely not allowed to kill or to lose. To lose would not only spell their doom but also the doom of the ones they were trying to protect.
If his only options were to kill his master to succeed him or get killed himself, then he'd find a third option to save them both, so that everyone could end up happy. So he wouldn’t break one of the Ten Commandments.
After praying over and over again to God for guidance, the Christian peacemaker found his answer.
'God is great. Praise be to God,' Nishida had taught at the time. 'I leave my fate in your hands, oh Lord Jesus. I trust in You. Thy will be done.'
***
Back at the front yard of the Minakata moneychanger office…
Kai Hidaka couldn't believe his eyes. The damage sponge and unstoppable juggernaut known as Lucas Grant had finally fallen against the hands of the so-called Kagemusha in a single exchange.
At the same time, he heard the righteous indignation from the voice of the blonde bombshell known as Satsuki Sakaguchi (also known as May Brooks) for good measure, with her charging forward with her trusty naginata (polearm blade) in tow.
"Keep your mitts away from Kyoko-chan and Mr. Sakaguchi!" screamed Satsuki at him.
Hidaka, her opponent, also currently looked like a dagger pincushion thanks to the efforts of Zan of the Sanada Demons.
Man, today just wasn't their day, was it? By "them", he meant the Brigands Guild.
Cursing under his breath, Kai charged, ignoring the agony of his body that served as a knife holder to Zan's daggers.
As for May's part, she saw red as soon as she got a look at the state of Kyoko Sakaguchi and her father Satoru. She didn't even have time to register that Kinta Minakata himself faced his own death match just a few yards away.
Like a purebred mare with blinders on, she focused solely on the ninja with the destroyed gas mask. A traitorous Japanese or East Asian man on the side of gaijin assassins.
He'd touch not one hair on either of them. Her Grandpa Sakaguchi's family. No, her family.
Something weird then happened. Kai found himself in the same predicament as before with Zan. Satsuki could reach and slash at him with Old or Young Moon Slashes at will with an insane reach.
Like she had an infinite supply of throwing knives that she used to suppress Hidaka from getting anywhere near Satoru and Kyoko Sakaguchi. Except it was a blade on a stick so she recycled her throwing knives by stabbing the same blade every time.
After struggling against a strange centipede version of the lion dance mascot with reinforced steel carapaces, razor-sharp limbs, and experienced Chinese kung-fu experts serving as its puppeteers earlier, she could finally let off some steam against one of the brigands.
She intended to defeat Kai like she did the gigantic human centipede mascot: By controlling the distance and taking him apart piece-by-piece, like her taking down those martial artist hooligans one-by-one. Thusly, that was what happened.
The already exhausted Fuuma Clan Ninja couldn't even touch the Caucasian martial artist, her naginata's slashing and stabbing range as far as that of a thrown projectile. Or, ironically, one of Hidaka's rope hooks and darts.
She unloaded on him like a Gatling gun onto an advancing army. Or even a Maxim gun. Every time Kai tried to get near her, it felt like he just dove face-first into a cactus patch. Or a shower of flesh-rending broken glass.
***
Many years ago, before Niitsu Kakunoshin became the disciple of Hiko Seijuro XII…
Hyoue Nishida found a way to master Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu and learn the Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki without murdering his beloved master over it, and it rooted from him hearing about tales of the inimitable Kojiro Sasaki battling against Musashi Miyamoto.
Hyoue had never seen Kojiro's signature technique before, but he heard stories about how the riposte moved so quick it allowed Sasaki to cut apart a sparrow or swallow (hence its name) in mid-flight.
He had been secretly practicing the Swallow Return over and over ever behind his master's back since he first heard about its legend leading up to his confrontation with his master.
He tried to figure out its mechanics from merely hearing about how it worked. To reverse-engineer a move he'd only heard about from rumors, legends, and folktales.
Hyoue threw caution to the wind and let his fate in the hands of his Christian God, the Almighty Yahweh. If he died in his attempt to spare his master's life, then so be it.
That was the kind of man Hyoue Nishida was.
And so the day of him learning the succession technique arrived. He was able to do the Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki but intentionally missed with his first strike.
His master blocked then did the Kuzu Ryu Sen (Nine-Headed Dragon Flash) to force him to do the even stronger second follow-up strike. A surefire killing blow with any normal katana (as opposed to the sakabatou).
However, Hyoue refused to do the second strike that would've finished Seijuro Hiko XII off.
Instead, he did an imperfect version of the Swallow Return, resulting in him getting blown back by Master Hiko's Kuzu Ryu Sen.
A miracle then happened during the fateful duel between master and student.
Hyoue ended up slipping off the cliff he and his master fought on, dropping into the waterfall below after getting lacerated all over by his master's multi-hit move.
However, he avoided death from his refusal to do the succession technique properly because the Tsubame Gaeshi managed to shatter Seijuro's sword in turn, so his cuts ultimately ended up shallow and non-fatal.
Later on, after recovering from his wounds, he'd thank God for helping him learn not one but two new skills—the Hirameki and the Tsubame Gaeshi—while keeping his master from dying by his hands in order to learn them.
***
Back at the front yard of the Minakata moneychanger office…
Kai Hidaka had enough of Satsuki Sakaguchi's "Death by a Thousand Cuts" nonsense and pulled one of the daggers on (or in) his person to throw it at the wobbly and spent Kinta to complete their assassination mission.
Predictably, this made Satsuki charge and attack up close, deflecting the dagger before it could even reach Kinta's back. With her moving right into Kai's range so that he didn't need to close the distance between them.
"That's right. GET OVER HERE!" screamed the Fuuma shinobi.
At such a close range, her long-ranged polearm was rendered moot while Kai Hidaka could move freely with his sword daggers and entangle her with his rope darts.
"Satsuki-neechan, watch out!" cried out Kyoko as she covered her face by reflex yet peeked out of her open fingers to see what happened next.
'Ha. Women are so emotional and predictable,' thought Kai as he withstood May’s flesh-cutting slashes and dodged the stabbing attempt that would've run him through.
May Brooks smirked. For the last few weeks, she'd been sparring with Yahiko Myojin to learn how to dodge and defend herself from close-range, knowing that was her previous weak point.
'What the hell…!?' thought Hidaka as Brooks shortened her grip on her polearm and held it closer to the blade, like a regular sword.
This allowed her to parry his quicker, shorter swords with her blade or even use the freed up space on her pole to deflect his attacks from there, with her gripping it like a sword with an extra-long handle.
"MIKAZUKI O TSUKU NARI (CRESCENT MOON SLASH)!"
She could throw Crescent and Quarter Moon Slashes at that midrange as well. Whether it was from the Waxing or Waning Stance.
And, when Kai attempted to escape from her close-quarter rampage to regroup, she merely gripped her naginata normally by its base to slash at him from mid-range to long-range. He couldn't escape from her at all.
The bloody Kai dodged those slashes regardless and moved in even closer, intending to grapple with the tall woman, grab her from behind, and then slit her throat.
The adopted Sakaguchi daughter merely stepped back and responded with a, "HANGETSU O TSUKU NARI (HALF MOON SLASH)!" that, lucky for Kai, hit him by the blunt pole end instead of the sharp bladed end.
Kai dropped to his side like a bag of hammers. Fortunately, he avoided having the knives in his person stab him any worse than before.
***
After Hyoue Nishida spared himself and his master Hiko Seijuro XII from needing to kill each other to master Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu...
Nishida would later become one of the founding fathers of Musou Madden Ryu, the swordsmanship school Kinta would eventually master.
The Seiryu Clan helped him develop his own swordsmanship skills divorced from Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu, which in turn allowed him to protect the Hidden Christians from harm and discovery against the Tokugawa Shogunate.
He became the bane of many an officer of the law, samurai, or local authorities in Shimabara, hiding under the masked identity of Kirisaki of the Hidden Christians. Their divine protector from persecution and death.
Notably, Kirisaki the Christian freed jailed and tortured Christians or helped them find refuge among other Hidden Christians while never taking the life of their enemies.
The ruling shogunate also tolerated Kirisaki’s presence because on top of rescuing rogue Christians, he also helped catch criminals for them.
As though exchanging the lives of the criminals for the Christians he saved.
Kirisaki became an asset to the government it defied, so they turned a blind eye on its treasonous activities of hiding and rescuing essentially fugitives of the law in exchange for his vigilantism.
Like Morihei Ueshiba with the development of Aikido, the Christian swordsman considered Musou Madden Ryu as a synthesis of his martial studies, philosophy, and religious beliefs.
It combined everything Nishida learned from Sengoku Era Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu and old-school battoujutsu with Hasegawa Eishin Ryu, an iaijutsu koryu from the 16th Century founded by Chikaranosuke Eishin Hasegawa.
By the way, the Sakaguchis previously studied under Hasegawa Eishin Ryu prior to the development of Musou Madden Ryu.
From under this school did Hyoue, the Sakaguchis, and several others derive their take on modern iaijutsu or iaido before and after the Bakumatsu commenced in earnest.
Some students followed Hyoue's pacifistic "Sword of Life" lessons. Nishida and Ueshiba shared the same goal of creating a martial art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attackers from harm.
Others insisted in continuing to go the path of the "Sword of Death" or old-school kenjutsu and iaijutsu because in reality, kenjutsu was the art of killing and katanas were weapons used for murder.
They merely used "Sword of Life" as a safe way to practice and temper their deadly skills. Like doing no-contact sparring and kata drills before engaging in "the real deal".
However, as Japan went to civil war and heads of state rolled in Shimabara, the old officers that tolerated Kirisaki and his protection of Hidden Christians died out.
The "Sonno Joi" movement also led to renewed hatred of everything foreign, including Christians who followed the religion of foreigners. They got hunted down like stray dogs in times of famine soon after.
Years after Hyoue rescued his young nephew and niece from being purged for being Hidden Christians, he'd later get blinded by a teenaged Shogo Amakusa because he wanted revenge against the new government.
Hyoue would later train how to use the "Sword of Life" while blind, using his other sharpened senses to deal with people safely in battle, with him only using violence as a last resort.
All this time, even during the middle of the Bakumatsu, Nishida never took a life. He wasn't a pure pacifist. He was willing to draw swords and do battle when push came to shove. However, like Kenshin as a rurouni, he followed a non-killing vow.
And his nephew Shogo bitterly blamed this vow for the deaths of their people.
In the end, the Swallow Return was also the last technique Nishida used before dying in the hands of his nephew, the self-proclaimed Second Coming of Shiro Amakusa, Shogo Muto.
That was the blind swordsman's last-ditch effort to keep his nephew Shogo from going the dark path of cult leader and domestic terrorist.
Hyoue remained defiant to the end, unwilling to compromise on his Christian beliefs and unwillingness to take a life even at the cost of his own.
***
Like a newborn fawn, Lucas stood and wobbled on shaky legs, his clicky knees knocking together like the Shinsengumi knocking on your door, thinking you were harboring an Ishin Shishi fugitive.
By sheer force of will, he trudged forward.
Despite everything, the wheezing Kinta also sacrificed himself to land that last attack when by the tail end of their protracted battle, no Full Moon Slash or Double Full Moon Slash could land on Lucas.
Doing a Full Moon Slash iaijutsu from the start subjected the swordsman’s body to muscle-tearing or even bone-crushing centrifugal forces, especially one involving a reverse-momentum riposte like the Swallow Return!
It was hard to imagine the damage he was doing to his body, but surely it was enough to push him over his own limits!
Kinta's gasping mouth went agape as his little bastard brother marched towards him. Like an unkillable zombie. Like the Ochimusha the Minakatas were allegedly descended from.
What did it take for Luke to go down? How was he still standing?!
What did he go through all those years after he and his mother were banished from the Minakata Family that pushed him beyond his human limits?
Kinta himself sheathed his sword and hobbled in anticipation of his bastard brother's final attack, his scratchy throat withholding a bloody cough.
The Prodigal Son of the Minakatas had every right to wipe out their sinful clan.
However, it remained Kinta's duty as the grandson, nephew, and son of the family to protect his uncles and grandmother.
Lucas then leaped towards his unlucky brother as soon as his body gave in and he coughed, blood spraying from his mouth.
At the side of the entrance, both Yahiko Myojin and Sho Kojima—who accompanied Tatsuya Minakata back to the office to rescue Kinta —ran as fast as they could towards the Prodigal Son as soon as they spotted him attacking a coughing and defenseless Kinta.
Alas, they were too far away to make it.
Ditto with May Brooks, who'd just made short work of the injured Kai Hidaka.
She ran blindly at Lucas Grant, unaware of his connection with Kinta Minakata, but stopped short from running him through in spite of herself.
After years of living in Japan as the only other "gaijin", it was the first time she'd seen someone who was Caucasian like her, which sent a shock to her system for about a second.
A second was all the time Luke needed to finish off the huge wall that kept him from enacting revenge at the evil Minakata Family.
A flying kunai not unlike those wielded by Zan of the Sanada Demons flew in between Grant's eyes.
"Who…!?" a frothing Lucas demanded as used his sword's handle to deflect the weapon, his one second of opportunity to assassinate Kinta now gone.
Did that damn persistent Zan revive and get in his way again? No, it was the dagger of the other ninja bodyguard who was also from the Sanada Ninja Clan. Their young master, Kaita.
Luke swiped at Kinta regardless, blindly hitting the invisible ninja instead as his crossed short blades broke under the weight of the heavy bastard sword.
The Prodigal Son then turned and blocked a sudden naginata slash with his blade, leaving him open to a number of other incoming attacks. Turning the full-rotation Full Moon Slash into a Half Moon Slash.
"Get the hell away from Kinta-sama…!" screamed Satsuki Sakaguchi, who remembered who she was now.
Or rather, who she became: A devoted student of Musou Madden Ryu and the adopted granddaughter of the Sakaguchis, who in turn loyally served under the Minakata Family since the olden times of the Shogunate.
It was Luke’s turn to wonder where he was and why he was fighting a blue-eyed blonde Caucasian warrior woman in full martial artist garb wielding a Japanese glaive, his brain unable to process what he saw.
'Wait a minute. This girl…!' he thought. He couldn’t possibly be mistaken.
Unless he met another tall, white (creamy pink, more like) golden-haired woman in Japan, he had seen this girl before. The chances of meeting two foreign blonde girls who spoke fluent Japanese in Japan were next to nil!
Lucas then noticed the incoming attacks of his other hindrances.
The charging Yahiko's temple then got clipped by a hook punch from the struggling Luke, but as he fell to the ground, he pushed forward and did the Kamiya Kasshin Ryu Tsuka no Gedan—Hiza Hijiki knee strike that made the Prodigal Son buckle.
Finally, Sho unsheathed his sword and let its handle fly into Luke's gut, knocking the wind out of him and making him drop his sword in wincing pain, which embedded itself to the ground.
This was another form of the Lunar Eclipse: A half-drawn blade with the handle aimed at the opponent's gut before either could fully draw their blades.
Like a rampaging gorilla, Luke punched, kicked, elbowed, and threw the people nearest him, his eyes solely focused on his half-brother Kinta, who had already recovered from his coughing fit.
Yahiko shook his head in disbelief. What did it take to put this man down? He seemed as strong as Sanosuke, if not stronger…!
Soon, a dogpile occurred. Multiple coppers were called into the Yokohama Chinatown to seize the assassin. They became messy entanglemen of limbs, sai, wooden swords, and rope.
The police finally arrived along with Chizuru Raikouji and Abelia La Cerca.
The dead-tired Yahiko surveyed the carnage. Blood spilled everywhere. Several people were injured. Multiple bodyguards were killed inside and outside the moneychanger building.
Regardless, the Brigands Guild's invasion in Chinatown had ended, at long last.
'It's finally over,' thought the exhausted Kinta as Abelia tended to him and his wounds.
***
The Yokohama Police had quite the busy night, with them arresting criminals working with foreign invader assassins left and right, most of which were Chinese nationals from the local Chinatown criminal syndicate.
However, only Lucas Grant ended up getting arrested. Somehow, someway, while they were all distracted by Luke's last-ditch attempt at taking out his half-brother Kinta, Kai Hidaka disappeared.
The aching Yahiko suspected that The Faceless had something to do with it. He probably fetched his fellow Brigands Guild member in the middle of the chaos.
He almost had him too during their duel, but the strange masked brigand had more tricks up his sleeve like the experienced mercenary that he was. Like he changed personalities and styles depending on the mask he wore.
‘Now who does that remind me of?’ the teenaged samurai thought with a smirk.
However, their boss had now been caught by the authorities. Will they still continue with their mission of taking out the wealthy and influential Minakata Family?
Meanwhile, little Abelia attended to the gasping and wheezing Kinta after applying first-aid on Satoru Sakaguchi and his daughter Kyoko along with the other medics on the scene looking for other survivors.
Bandages and salves were also handed off to Yahiko Myojin and Satsuki Sakaguchi.
The two sparring mates grinned at one another and crossed their weapons together. Their lengthy training sessions at the Sakaguchi Dojo had paid dividends tonight.
"Good work, Joshua-kun!"
"You too, Satsuki!"
Chizuru herself pinched one of Yahiko's ears like an irate mother and chewed him out for not being careful and needlessly involving himself with other people's business to the point of risking his life.
Like she didn't know better by now.
Yahiko rolled his eyes and allowed the lady to scold him as he withheld a wistful smile that sneaked into the corners of his mouth. Again, though she’d hate to hear him say it, Chizuru reminded him so much of Kaoru Kamiya back at the Kamiya Dojo.
Yahiko had actually reunited with Gan and Minoe earlier, in the middle of him, Kojima, and Kinta's uncle returning to the moneychanger office.
The pair of Munenori Minoe and the Great Gan took down the Chinese mercenaries wearing the lion dance costume in typical violent fashion.
Indeed, Minoe ended up helping out with the mission despite viewing Kinta Minakata as the traitor to Shogo Amakusa’s rebellion, but he was unwilling to join Yahiko any further.
The Tokyo Samurai Descendant thanked the wandering terrorist with the eye patch and wig regardless.
Yahiko had no idea how Kinta Minakata betrayed Munenri, Amakusa, and the Hidden Christians, but he thought better than to pry right now.
The Battousai Group was the furthest thing from his mind at the moment. He’d have to deal with them eventually, of course.
After all, there were foreign invaders afoot. Someone hired them to finish off the so-called Seiryu Clan.
He also had a gut feeling that Amakusa’s faction and the current turn of events were all interconnected somehow.
It seemed too convenient for a Fake Battousai Group to harangue the Sakaguchis, only for the real one to finish them off.
Perhaps Keisuke used the name of one of the Sakaguchis’ enemies for himself. Or perhaps the Battousai Group was the enemy of the Minakatas, which in turn made them the enemies of the Sakaguchis by proxy.
***
Kinta took a long drag of his asthma cigarettes—not made of tobacco, but instead from the leaves of Datura stramonium (thorn apple) that were widely sold in the 1800s and into the early 1900s—given to him by Abelia La Cerca to relieve his respiratory emergency.
The cigarettes provided a means of delivering an inhaled treatment that would be later known by 20th Century medicine as an antimuscarinic alkaloid.
Other than almost suffocating to a dead faint due to exhaustion, he was none the worse for wear. He barely had any cuts deeper than a laceration on him. Most of the blood on his clothes were from Lucas.
Nevertheless, he was the one who almost died instead of his stamina monster of a brother. That (literal) bastard pushed him to his (present) limits.
His whole body trembled and ached from muscle strain. He felt like going into a deep sleep, afraid it’d turn into a coma he wouldn’t wake up from.
Kinta's adrenalin probably still kept him up and standing like his brother did before he was apprehended.
"Are you okay, Kinta-sama?" said Officer Satoru Sakaguchi, who himself got injured by one of the brigands of the Brigands Guild. "It’s time for you to head home and rest."
'He still calls me, Kinta-sama, eh?' Wistfully, Kinta looked up at the endless blackness of the sky and its infinite stars then marveled:
"It's been 17, almost 18 years since the Meiji Era started. There's no reason for you to be trapped into a master-servant relationship with our family."
After a brief pause, Lieutenant Satoru answered, "Don't be silly. Just because of the administration's edicts, we're going to throw away hundreds of years of gratitude? Don't be a stranger, Kinta-sama."
"It's a stupid old tradition," insisted Kinta. "Your family shouldn’t be shackled to mine. Samurai no longer exist. The hatamoto class died out along with the Shogunate."
"Come on, don't make me say it, Sir Kinta." Satoru grinned. "The bonds between our families run deeper than mere traditions and classes. We Sakaguchis are loyal to you because we choose to! We’re bound by fate at this point."
***
Yahiko poked around and eavesdropped on the Yokohama Police chatting with the "Sword of Life" swordsman and drunkard earlier. His name was Sho Kojima, wasn't it?
Sho seemed to have finally sobered up after using his mix of the Drunken Fist and Musou Madden Ryu swordsmanship at The Faceless.
Myojin overheard something about them apprehending three of five known Brigands Guild members.
One had been jailed already—someone who almost killed a squad of Yokohama Policemen had they not been saved in time by that other foreigner girl the size of a ten year old who knew all about western medicine and drugs.
They also put in chains a swarthy hairy giant of a muscular man who wielded a huge ax like it weighed as much as an ordinary sword. They arrested him back in one of the Minakata Family’s many mansions.
And now they actually caught the mastermind of the mercenaries with a direct link to the Minakatas, Lucas Grant. Right on time too, before he could murder one member of their family.
However, it was at the risk and cost of the lives of many of Yokohama’s Finest and their hired private bodyguards, one of whom Lucas impersonated in order to get close to the family.
Had the Minakata Family drama not have national security consequences when push came to shove, Yahiko would rather not interfere with it.
Also, the Akahoris were also somehow intertwined with Minakata busines. Nepotism ran deep in the Meiji Oligarchy, after all, as evidenced by the likes of Jusanro Tani.
Could it be that the Akahoris were also in league with the Minakatas? Could it be that the shared the same enemy, which was Amakusa’s faction?
If so, then why did it seem like Minoe had nothing to do with these Brigands Guild of mercenaries? He was willing to take them down, even for Kinta’s sake.
Yahiko scratched his chin. Maybe he needed to send a carrier pigeon to the Kyoto Oniwabanshu so that he could glean more info on this Seiryu Clan and Minakata Zaibatsu.
Myojin decided then and there to keep digging deeper. What was the reason behind Amakusa's use of Kenshin's name Battousai? Why did he and Minoe’s other self, Kaede, know how to use Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu?
How was Kinta related to the Battousai Group? Did it go beyond him once being called the Mimawarigumi Battousai? Was he another Battousai wannabe too, by that logic?
Just like how Minoe, without the wig and eyepatch, or his other self, Kaede, if she were another gender, was the spirit and image of Kenshin himself?
Oh wait. That last technique Kinta did. The Swallow Return. That was legendary iaijutsu or battoujutsu invented by the famous Kojiro Sasaki himself! Musashi Miyamoto’s chief rival!
Could such a legendary technique from a historical figure like Kojiro counter Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu’s Heavens Gliding Dragon Flash? Yahiko could only wonder in amazement.
However, to Yahiko, being Kenshin-like wasn’t about techniques and strength. It was more than just being named "Battousai" as well.
It was about moving forward despite all the suffering and crippling depression he faced. It was about being honorable in the face of an imperfect new government filled with corruption.
It was about the strength of defending life after being burdened by the unwashable guilt of taking so many lives.
It was about viewing the true nature of samurai as to improve, become stronger, and become knowledgeable than you were before. Being a samurai meant self-improvement in every sense of the word.
Rather than the other face of samurai being armed thugs serving the Shogunate who were born with privilege. And when that privilege was taken away from them, the samurai became no better than bandit and criminals.
Most importantly, what was the deal with this so-called Seiryu Clan he kept hearing about?
***
"Ah! I almost forgot ‘bout you! Hold still, Señor Samurai!" said the foreign-looking little girl with rust-brown hair who appeared out of nowhere and began bandaging Yahiko’s wounds.
Yahiko took one look at the kid and then called out to the nearby police, "Hey, there’s a lost child here. Might be a foreign kid from the Yokohama Foreign Settlement or something!”
This earned him a bonk on the head from the violent kid. She was a brat, truly.
"OW! Hey! What was that for?"
"What do you mean 'What was that for?' You called me a lost child!" the girl pointed out.
Then, to Yahiko’s utter befuddlement, the taciturn Kinta turned towards him and told him, "She's with us."
This in turn earned the already injured Kinta a bonk on his head, followed by an apology. "AH! I’m sorry, Señor Kinta! But that doesn’t clear things up with him at all!"
Rubbing the bump on his head as he watched the doting child scold the poker-faced Minakata, Myojin remembered where he first met the girl. Well, saw her.
It was at the Sakaguchi Dojo. She was with Kinta and that drunken swordsman dude who helped him take on The Faceless, Kojima.
According to the Yokohama Police, she was some kid that had connections with the Brigands Guild that was after the Minakatas. She helped saved them from one of the members, a poison-based assassin.
She was also a lot older than she looked apparently, like she was more of a little person than a child, but Yahiko wasn’t so sure about that claim. Big if true.
The adorable young/old person then turned towards Yahiko and asked, "What's your name again?"
"Huh? Me? Uh, it’s Yahiko. Myojin Yahiko."
"Charmed. My name is Abelia La Cerca. Como estas? I mean, how do you do?"
"Uh, I’m doing fine. Thanks."
'La Cerca?' thought Yahiko. The police told him that was one of The Faceless' many aliases. So she was related to one of the Brigands, huh? Could they trust her? What if she was the Brigands’ mole?
"But you're just a li'l kid," he almost muttered to himself rather than to Abelia.
"Right back at you, kiddo. You're barely a teenager," said the childlike girl midget before him. Girl midget? Gidget?
"Well, you're barely pubescent!" he said. "…Right?"
"It doesn't matter anyway," she said as she attended to Yahiko's wounds with ointment and bandages.
"Heard from the police you have connections with the Minakata's present enemies, the Brigands Guild. Like you're related to some of them or something."
This made Abelia pause. "What of it, Señor Samurai? Are you accusing me of something? Even though you're more of a rando yourself, snooping into other peoples' business?"
"HEY! I'm a friend of the friend of the samurai family serving under the Minakatas, I'll have you know!" blurted out Yahiko in defense of himself.
He felt a pang of regret from leaving out the part where he decided to intervene into the Minakata Familiy's affairs because of their Kinta's to Shogo Amakusa's Battousai Group.
That info was on a need-to-know basis, but at the same time, he was ironically becoming a hypocritical interloper on someone else's business himself.
"…Heard from Señor Kojima that you're some vagabond who volunteered to become Señor Kinta's bodyguard. And you didn't do half bad against, uh, The Faceless," Abelia said, changing the subject.
Yahiko rubbed the back of his head, flattered.
"Jeez, I was lucky to get some shots in against The Faceless and his fencing style! That Drunken Fist Samurai is your friend too? Well, he ultimately bailed me out in the end. Oh, and Kinta’s personal ninja helped too."
***
As the police secured the perimeter, tagged the bodies, arrested the perps, and gathered evidence, Yahiko finally left that moneychanger office in Chinatown. He'd finally told them his eyewitness account of what happened, so he was free to go.
Go home, perhaps? Nope, he was far away from Tokyo now. Well, maybe a train ride away, at least.
However, he was already in too deep. As the inheritor of Kenshin's sakabatou and the kanji of "Evil" behind Sanosuke's back, he had a job to do.
There were people using the Hitokiri Battousai's name in vain, creating a so-called Battousai Group meant to sow discord in the Meiji Era.
He had to take these insurgents down.
Furthermore, a former Mimawarigumi member and his Hatamoto-Class Samurai Family were in peril against literal foreign invaders at that.
This man, Kinta, might be his biggest lead yet in taking down the Battousaigumi before they could reform and wreak havoc in peacetime Japan, undoing all the hard work the Kenshingumi did in defending the country against Makoto Shishio's Ten Swords.
Yahiko's eavesdropping also helped him hear whispers about a certain Seiryu Clan and their… Black Book. A book full of names and secrets that could unravel the very fabric of the Meiji Government.
A literal government conspiracy was afoot in the middle of Yahiko investigating a bunch of terrorists sullying the good name of Kenshin Kamiya (nee Himura).
'I'll cross that bridge when I get there,' he thought while rubbing his temples with his fingers. 'What's important is that I've found another potential member of the Battousai Group while keeping an eye on another.'
Yahiko took a deep breath, remembering his misadventures with the eye-patched Munenori Minoe. Or rather, the volatile Kaede Morinaga.
The Battousai of Speed had finally met up with the traitor to their cause, the Mimawarigumi Battousai, also known as the Battousai of Skill.
The ninja turned towards Yahiko, who almost flinched and turned away, but willed himself to stare at him eye-to-eye.
"I had no idea Takae was your father," Yahiko said honestly. "I'm sorry for your loss. He was an honorable fighter who saved my life in the end."
"What is your name, Yojimbo?" asked Kaita.
"Myojin Yahiko," said Yahiko Myojin. "The son of Tokyo Samurai."
"Fine. Myojin Yahiko," Kaita Takae pointed his kunai at the teenaged swordsman. "Until I kill you, make sure no one else kills you."
From there, the son of Masahiro Takae who inherited all of his tricks disappeared in the blink of an eye, his silhouette fading from the light and merging back into the shadows.
***
To Be Continued...
Yes. I combined elements of the Shimabara Arc and the Black Knights arc together for this fanfic's continuity. In light of that, you can consider this fanfic an "Elseworlds" type of story that happens directly after "Yahiko's Sakabatou".
It hinges on the alternative universe premise of "Had the Kenshingumi never met their filler villains (because Kenshin was too busy dealing with Enishi), what would've happened to them?"
It follows portions of the 1996 anime and the manga's Iinchu Arc but skips the filler episode seasons altogether. I do think that characters like Shogo Amakusa were wasted potential, especially since he was supposed to be more skilled than Kenshin and has his own signature move.
Shogo's Uncle Hyoue also fascinated me, particularly his motivation for learning Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu as a Hidden Christian.
Danke, Abdiel

3 SSSS.Gridman Shows were held, each accompanied by script readings with suit action.
The original SSSS.Gridman Show had a single script reading, SSSS.Gridman Grand Review Meeting, a meta discussion of the show from the cast in character. Akane has Alexis, who has become a home assistant because Inada Tetsu was attending remotely, create a Kaiju, but it winds up being the mascot Wooser. Gridman escorts him away, but Anti rampages, debuting his own suit, and Gridman fights him using Gridman Calibur. The script includes hints that Hass may like Utsumi.
SSSS.Gridman Show 02 a couple of months later had two script readings. The first "Last Order: Neon Genesis" has the Neon Genesis Junior High Students, Rikka Mama and Anti hanging out at an Izakaya, when a clerk (played by Hirose Yuya) annoyed by their demands, declares he is going to be the new God to supplant Akane, summoning Nanashi B. The NGJHS trick Anti into fighting, and he wields Gridman Calibur to win.
The second script was "Finally, Please", has the kids at karaoke, Namiko continues hinting Hass likes Utsumi, but Yuta seems like a different person. Gridman and Akane both return as a backup of Alexis possess Namiko, and fights and overwhelms Gridman, assisted by Nanashi B. Rikka manages to make Yuta come to his senses, igniting Gridman's power, who becomes Denkou Chojin Gridman to defeat the villains. Hass teases Utsumi while Akane encourages Rikka to pursue her feelings for Yuta, then songs youthful beautiful with her before leaving.
SSSS.Gridman Show 03: Revenge didn't happen for a couple of years, and by the time it did Dynazenon was airing. The first script reading was "Let's Revenge". As the Hyper Agents travel by passroute back to Hyper World with the captive Alexis, they suddenly come across Namiko and Hass, who have come to this space via haunted house. The girls argue, causing enough Minus Energy for Alexis to break free and forcibly wield Gridman Calibur. The Girls Access Flash so Gridman can fight, and Calibur resists being used for the Alexis Calibur End enabling Gridman to defeat him, though Alexis continues to plot.
The second script reading was "How to Use Power". At Aya, Yuta and Utsumi are surprised to meet Rikka Papa (played by Inada Tetsu). Anti and the Kaiju Girl arrive with a warning, as does Akane, followed by Gridman, who reveals Alexis escaped. Rikka Papa denies being Alexis, with backing from Mama, but is exposed. Yuta Access Flashes, and Akane has Anti help. Alexis tries to control Anti, but he resists, becoming Gridknight, and they perform a Double Calibur End. Alexis is sealed again, and Akane says her goodbyes to Rikka and thanks Anti. Anti and the Kaiju Girl talk, and decide to give eachother names, becoming Knight and Nidaime.
As a prequel to both SSSS.Gridman and the 2016 Diaclone relaunch, 3 Diaclone Vs Gridman sets were released, introducing Battles Gridman and the Grid Tector. A 4 part prose peace was produced to tell the story of these forms, as well as the origins of Primal Fighter Gridman.
Symphogear XD collaboration Yume wo Utau Eiyu saw Gridman, Gridknight and the Neon Genesis Junior High Students join forces with Hibiki and Tsubasa to counter a threat to their world.
The ULTRAMAN x Gridman collaboration saw Gridman assist ULTRAMAN in a special chapter of ULTRAMAN Suit ANOTHER UNIVERSE, also told in photo form, and a special Symphogear repeat where Hibiki's Gridman and Maria's Ultraman combined attacks.
Cancelled Projects
An Akane focused manga, after being stalled in development for some time, was eventually cancelled.
An SSSS.Gridman stage play, an original story featuring the Neon Genesis Junior High Students was close to opening before being indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gridman Universe: Complete Breakdown
At time of writing, the Gridman Universe Show is about to happen, and if nothing major is announced, we may be putting a cap on the Gridman Universe for now. This isn't going to be fully comprehensive, but I do want to share info on the things that are harder to find.
Denkou Chojin Gridman, aka Gridman the Hyper Agent, was a 1993 Tokusatsu series by Tsuburaya based on toy concepts by Takara. A Hyper Agent joins with a group of youths for help to defeat an other dimensional criminal, and they are responsible for both his form and his Assist Weapons.
Followed the next year by a photo sorry, Demon King's Counterattack, which introduced Gridman Sigma to help fight a new threat, and introduced a couple more form variations.
In 2015, Trigger gave us the short boys invent great hero, part retelling of the show and part reimagining of Demon King's Counterattack. But more important, is what it lead to.

Change of Address
Written for @ohayohimawari. | Prompt: I saw this at the flea market and it made me think of you.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“I saw this at the flea market and it made me think of you,” Kakashi announces, setting a wooden board on the table in front of his companion with such a flourish, Tenzō would think it had been blessed by a sage.
Tenzō has received a surprising amount of wooden gifts before, considering his kekkei genkai, but none from Kakashi. So, with a small smile, he says, “You know that’s like me giving you a battery, right?”
“Hm?” Kakashi says, gaze turning back to the board. “Oh, no, that’s not why.”
Tenzō inspects the board again. It looks to him like a cutting board, though not one marked by regular use. While he can’t immediately note any hints of why Kakashi was drawn to this object, he supposes it’s nice to be thought of, in any case. “Thank you,” he says, reaching a hand out towards the other’s wrist. He resists the urge to tug him down. “Is this a hint that you want me to cook more?”
Kakashi blinks at him. “Am I that indirect?” he asks with a brow quirked.
“Not usually, no,” Tenzō admits, looking him over, both out of curiosity and fondness. “But you’re also not one for spontaneous gifts either.”
Kakashi returns his stare with a laugh that puffs against his mask. “You don’t like surprises, Tenzō,” Kakashi replies, perplexed.
The way Kakashi says this, like it is an accepted law of the universe, makes Tenzō bite down on a grin. It reminds him that their particular relationship, as it is now, is new to Kakashi too. There are still things they both need to learn about each other. “This kind of surprise is okay,” Tenzō informs him.
“So, the rules vary depending on the type of surprise.” Finally tiring of leaning over Tenzō, Kakashi sits beside him at the kitchen table.
Some things between them remain familiar. “Think of them more like suggestions,” Tenzō replies, playing along. “I suggest we avoid mission-related surprises, but surprise gestures at home are more welcome.”
It isn’t until he sees the glint in Kakashi’s eyes that he notices his error. “You called the Hokage’s quarters ‘home.’” Kakashi says, a scandalized hand rising to his chest. “Who was it that insisted you didn’t live here last week?”
“Because it would be inappropriate for me to live with you and remain in ANBU,” Tenzō reminds him.
“According to what rule?” Kakashi asks, edging his chair a little closer.
Tenzō uses his heel to halt the chair’s advance, though this brings the two of them dangerously close to playing footsie. “I’m sure Nidaime-sama wrote it down somewhere.”
Kakashi uses their new proximity to tap his fingers against Tenzō’s thigh. “Explain to me again where this rule begins and ends?”
Tenzō slides Kakashi’s hand down to his knee. “I’m trying to maintain some sense of professional boundaries, Hokage-sama.”
“And how is that going?”
“Poorly.”
Kakashi has the audacity to laugh at him, and Tenzō groans and drops his head onto his partner’s shoulder. “You don’t make this easy for me.”
“Sorry, sorry.”
“No, you’re not,” Tenzō says, without a hint of ire. He turns his head, finding it helpful to stare at Kakashi’s neck rather than his eyes. “I do like being here. And our shared kitchenware. I’m just trying to find some middle ground.”
Kakashi hums, a pleasant vibration against Tenzo’s cheek. “I suppose it would be a bad time to show you the other side of the cutting board, then.”
Curiosity gets the better of him. Tenzō lifts his head to pick up the wooden board and flip it over. He sighs.
A House is Not A Home Without A Cat, it reads, with decorative paw prints.
“Very funny,” Tenzō deadpans, but his head is back on Kakashi’s shoulder, and his face is warm.

The tide recedes from the bay as the ocean greedily draws in its body, arranging its mass into an approaching natural disaster. Tobirama's towering frigid obelisk of chakra shattered the personal dam withholding its waters and unleashed it upon all recipients in the room. It's tyrannical presence flooded this small space all the while his body remained stoic.
It was good news to be received for Chitose, of that he won't deny. He was grateful for her and her accomplishments. A shame he wasn't in a celebratory mood after having been so abruptly bothered by this—
Eyes narrowed in response to "much of the world has change... it might be good to see some of it". Tobirama mulled over the request, thinking carefully on how he might respond and if his will was in good-nature to decide.
Kakashi stood before the two, hand gripping tighter on the width of his neck before it slowly descended on the side; palm flushed to the skin that was starting to break out in a sweat. He needed not sensor abilities to feel the stark shift of pressure in the room and found himself remiss that he might have offended the nidaime with the informality.
Usually unflinching, his shoulders rounded forward ( in spite of his status, he found himself in the inferior position within this discussion ) presenting himself non-threateningly towards the azure dragon looking to swallow him whole.
"I will take the mantle of guiding Lady Ryuketsu, Lord Seventh."
The Senju did not bow his head nor did he present any sort of honor and/or humility to the task. Even in his verbal respects, the Hatake did not find himself in the trappings of veneration with the elder. So, in effort to mitigate the stone wall building between himself and the others, he tilted his head forward in appreciation for them taking their task amicably.
"Aah- well, thank you for your time, you two," he nodded his head forward again," please see me in my office tomorrow for the specifics."
"Chi- Ryuketsu-san, Lord Senju." Addressing them again, once more, feeling static crawl up his spine on his slip-up. Never mind putting on anymore airs, he slipped out the door, leaving the two to their work.
"Congratulations," Tobirama said, once they were alone, eyes locked onto her face, directly into her pupils; the militaristic habit did not die once the intrusion saw itself out," I'm happy for you."
And he was, in a way. The flood waters did not temper, the storm clouds rolling in close behind. "I'll finish my book keeping here then return to the field for some samples within the hour."
Chitose softly gasps, heartbeat fluttering as Tobirama addresses her intimately by name for the first time. He has her undivided attention, practically hanging onto his every word, but before the Senju can finish his sentence, they sense another shinobi’s presence approaching the laboratory entrance. A familiar sensation of pins and needles prickles the young woman’s skin. It is a chakra signature that could only belong to one person: Hatake Kakashi.
It would appear their conversation will have to wait, much to their agitation. Chitose calmly clasps her hands before her, turning around to greet the Rokudaime with a formal bow. There’s a smile on her painted lips, one that doesn’t quite reach the eyes.
❝ Good morning, Lord Sixth. To what do we owe the pleasure? ❞
The Rokudaime enters the room casually. One hand rests in his pocket while the other reaches to rub at his nape anxiously. He was never one for such formalities, even when he received quad captain in ANBU.
❝ Lord Second, Chitose, that’s not really—necessary.❞ He tries to interject. But judging by their sharp gazes, something told Kakashi he should make an exception this time. He’s certainly not going to order a man like Senju Tobirama to drop honorifics. Clearing his throat, he gets to the point of his visit.
❝ I’m here to offer both of you propositions. Chitose, your participation in securing alliances with the smaller, independent nations was a crucial play during the Fourth Shinobi War, and your elder brother is back in power at Ryugu-jo due to your efforts. I want to extend my gratitude by bestowing you with dual citizenship. I also would like you and Lord Second to represent the Hidden Leaf as foreign diplomats. What do you think?❞
The Dragon’s amber gaze widens, taken aback by the offer. ❝ Kakash—Rokudaime, this is a tremendous honor, but are you sure? ❞
❝Of course, I’m sure. I believe you’re best suited for the position.❞ Kakashi nods, masked lips widening into a smile.
❝Then, I accept the position. Thank you.❞
He then turns to Tobirama. ❝ I hoped this could be a collaborative effort between you, Lord Second. Your extensive knowledge and prior position in politics could be beneficial to us. Besides, much of the world has changed since you’ve been alive. It might be good to see some of it. Are you up to the task?❞

Senju clan genealogy tree of the main branch
I finally managed to finish the Senju family tree as well as adding a bit of information to each character.
The family tree is called senjumaki! au
Here is the legend if you are interested look below the cut. This post is longer than some of my fanfics. There are also memes at the end.
Senjumaki Family
Butsuma Senju: Leader of the Senju clan during the era of the warring clans. Husband of Seiren Higuchi and father of Hashirama, Tobirama, Itama and Kawarama Senju. Died in a confrontation with the Uchiha clan.
Seiren Higuchi: Leader of the Senju clan through her marriage to Butsuma Senju. Wife of Butsuma Senju mother of Hashirama, Tobirama, Itama and Kawarama Senju. Died during an attack on the Senju compound by the Hagoromo clan that occurred shortly after Kawarama's birth.
Belonging to the Higurachi clan, a clan known for the fact that its members tended to be born with a strong connection to either the Yin or Yang element, or both. In addition, as they grew older, the clan members's faces would develop markings, usually red in colour, although the markings could also appear on other parts of the body. (Only her son Tobirama demonstrated these markings, as Itama and Kawarama died young. Although perhaps some of her grandchildren may develop the markings). Nowadays the Higuchi clan is considered extinct.
This connection with the Yin or Yang elements would be inherited by her children as can be seen in the great Yang connection that Hashirama had to the point of having an automatic healing. Or her son Tobirama who thanks to the Yin element was able to create oceans in the desert.
Hashirama Senju: Leader of the Senju clan at the end of the era of the warring clans and during the beginning of the era of the hidden villages. He married Mito Uzumaki and fathered Sukuna Senju, Himiko Senju, Makoto Senju, Masato Senju and Tomoe Uzumaki. Died due to his own regeneration which caused him to suffer from severe cancer.
Achieved peace with the Uchiha clan. Co-founded Konoha and became Shodaime Hokage. He was the only man born with the wood element.
Tobirama Senju: Younger brother of Hashirama Senju helped his brother lead the Senju clan and fight against the Uchiha clan. He created jutsu such as the shadow clones, the Hiraishin or the Edo Tensei (the latter was created with the help of Mito Uzumaki).
After the founding of Konoha he was in charge of creating the structure of the village and when his brother began to weaken he took the position of Nidaime Hokage. He never married but is known to have had a lover.
He died from wounds inflicted by the Gold and Silver brothers during their fight but not before killing them. His body was recovered thanks to a summoning seal he had on it.
Itama Senju: Brother of Hashirama, Tobirama and Kawarama Senju. Died at the age of 10-11 killed by the Uchiha clan.
Kawarama Senju: Brother of Hashirama, Tobirama and Itama Senju. Died at the age of 7 killed by the Hagoromo clan.
Senju-Uzumaki Alliance
Shortly before his death Butsuma Senju managed to convince Ashina Uzumaki to marry his granddaughter Mito Uzumaki to his eldest son Hashirama Senju.
The marriage took place before the founding of Konoha and it is known that on their way to the Senju compound the Uzumaki entourage was attacked on several occasions by different clans.
The Uzumaki entourage arrived at the Senju compound with a total of 274 heads from members of different clans. 26 heads of the Uchiha clan, 11 heads of the Izuno clan, 5 heads of the Shimura clan and 234 heads of Hagoromo clan members. As well as 19 heads of cats belonging to the Izumo clan.
So far even after the founding of Konoha and the First Shinobi World War, none of the heads have been returned to their clan of origin and many of those heads have been turned into masks.
As well as 56 children who were members of those clans, the Uchiha, Izumo and Shimura children were returned after the wedding when the clans paid a ransom, but the Hagoromo clan children stayed with the Uzumaki and Senju clan, as their clan became extinct after that massacre. (A couple of Uchiha children were killed by a drunken Senju, that Senju was quickly killed).
After the wedding about 50 Uzumaki stayed with Mito as their leader. Thanks to the alliance the Senju clan received the help of the Uzumaki Fūinjutsu, plus the Uzumaki who stayed with Mito pledged to protect the Senju clan compound. The Senju clan's compound was never invaded again.
After the founding of Konoha some Uzumaki returned to Uzushio and some came from Uzushio to Konoha. This group of Uzumaki was called the Uzumaki clan of Konoha and they chose Mito as their clan leader. These Uzumaki married and had children and grandchildren and the clan continues to grow.
Each of the children of the marriage between Hashirama and Mito could be described as the perfect and terrifying combination of Senju and Uzumaki.
Mito Uzumaki: Granddaughter of Ashina Uzumaki, wife of Hashirama Senju and mother of Sukuna Senju, Himiko Senju, Makoto Senju, Masato Senju and Tomoe Uzumaki. Mito is considered a co-founder of Konoha with her husband and Madara.
Mito is about 10 years older than Hashirama. As a wedding gift to the Senju clan, Mito gave the extinction of the Hagoromo clan.
Mito helped Tobirama create the Edo Tensei. She is currently retired from her position as leader of the Uzumaki clan of Konoha and her daughter Tomoe is now the leader. During Madara and Hashirama's battle in the Valley of the End she became the first ever Jinchūriki by imprisoning the Kyuubi within herself.
However, Mito continues her work as a priestess at the temple that the Uzumaki created in Konoha and in the past has put Kakuzu on the run.
Sukuna Senju: Son of Hashirama Senju and Mito Uzumaki. Husband of Yoriko Hōki and father of Tsunade and Nawaki Senju.
Sukuna was born shortly before the founding of Konoha and many Uchiha thank Madara for this alliance as if Sukuna had become leader of the Senju clan with the Senju and Uchiha clans at odds it is possible that the Uchiha clan would have become extinct.
While the Uzumaki clan was already known in the past, due to their isolationist tendencies they were usually forgotten by the mainland clans, however thanks to the massacre of the Hagoromo clan and the founding of Konoha the Uzumaki clan became much more recognised and showed what they were capable of when they were not busy studying and creating Fūinjutsu.
However, the one who showed why the Uzumaki clan should be feared and spread fear throughout the Elemental Nations during the First Shinobi World War was Sukuna Senju. Thanks to him, anyone with red hair and a Konoha headband became the immediate root of fear for anyone who saw them.
Sukuna killed the Jinchūriki of the Rokubi, the second Raikage after the murder of his uncle Tobirama and tore off the limbs of the Jinchūriki of the Yonbi. In addition to killing hundreds of shinobi during the war he was responsible for the first and last alliance between the Nidaime Mizukage and the Nidaime Tsuchikage made in their lifetime during the First Shinobi World War, yet Sukuna managed to defeat and humiliate both Kages only losing an arm in the process (although he later regenerated the arm with the help of his brother Masato Senju). He is currently working as the leader of the Senju clan, likes to train his sons and enjoys causing trouble for Hiruzen.
Himiko Senju: Daughter of Hashirama Senju and Mito Uzumaki. Wife of Takayuki Sakai, Chiaki Senju and Eiji Senju, and mother of Masahiko Senju, Tomiko Senju, Nakano Senju and Yasu Senju.
Himiko Senju is a woman who believes in polygamy and has married two men and a woman and had four children with them. One thing that should be made clear is that she is the one in charge of the relationship.
Together with her brother Sukuna, Himiko decimated the shinobi armies of the other nations. One of her greatest achievements was during an attack on Kirigakure, while her brother killed the Jinchūriki of the Rokubi, Himiko confronted the Jinchūriki of the Sanbi and using her Fūinjutsu skills broke the seal of the Sanbi and released it in the middle of the village causing destruction and chaos, in addition to that she killed four of the mist swordsmen and almost destroyed Samehada but the sword escaped by going underwater. Himiko also killed the first Mizukage in this attack.
Tomoe Uzumaki: Daughter of Hashirama Senju and Mito Uzumaki. Wife of Hokusai Uzumaki and mother of Honoka Uzumaki and Takato Uzumaki.
While most of her family prefers to use a sword as a weapon with her brother Makoto being the exception, Tomoe prefers to use a pair of Sai along with her Adamantine chains.
During the war Tomoe was assigned to a group of teams whose job was to make lightning attacks on all nations that were against Konoha however after the death of her uncle Tobirama, Tomoe became the bane of Kaminari no Kuni as after her brother Sukuna killed the Nidaime Raikage the village had a period of brief chaos during which the Jinchūriki of the Nibi and Hachibi defected from Kumogakure.
To their misfortune they encountered Tomoe who using her Adamantine chains, her Fūinjutsu and the puppet knowledge her brother Masato stole from Sunagakure turned the two Jinchūriki into puppets which she used to destroy Kaminari no Kuni for months Tomoe caused destruction across the country until the Jinchūriki of the Hachibi almost died from the stress of using so much beast chakra and blew him up destroying several major ports of Kaminari no Kuni. After that she planted a bomb on the Jinchūriki of the Nibi and sent him to the palace of the Daimyō of Kaminari no Kuni, the Jinchūriki was killed before he reached the palace but he killed hundreds of shinobi and Kumogakure lost the Nibi.
After the war she became the leader of the Uzumaki clan in Konoha.
With this only Sunagakure (which had not used its Jinchūriki) and Takigakure (which was allied with Konoha) retained their bijuu. Of course Konoha had the Kyuubi but that was only known to a few people in Konoha.
Makoto Senju: Son of Hashirama Senju and Mito Uzumaki, and twin brother of Masato Senju. He is engaged to Mochizuke Takeda.
Makoto became a founding member of the 12 shinobi guardians and during the war remained at the Daimyō's side most of the time.
One of the rare occasions that he broke away from the Daimyō's side was when Tsuchi No Kuni sent a diplomatic entourage but it turned out to be a trap as they planned to use the Gobi Jinchūriki to free the Bijuu to assassinate the Daimyō of Hi no Kuni. However Makoto managed to stop the Jinchūriki and decided to seal the Jinchūriki in a sake bottle which he managed to get to the Daimyō of Tsuchi No Kuni. When the Daimyō of Tsuchi No Kuni opened the bottle the Gobi Jinchūriki came out with his seal altered so that the Gobi was the one in control.
The Gobi took control of the Jinchūriki's body and transformed into its full form destroying the palace and killing the Daimyō of Tsuchi no Kuni and most of his family. After several days of running loose in the country a seal Makoto had placed on the Jinchūriki was activated. This seal caused the death of the Jinchūriki, the Gobi and all the chakra they had to be used as a super bomb that destroyed everything for miles around.
After the war he left his post and decided to return to Konoha however the Daimyō engaged him to one of his daughters and appointed her as the Daimyō's representative in Konoha.
Masato Senju: Son of Hashirama Senju and Mito Uzumaki, and twin brother of Makoto Senju.
Masato can be considered the quietest of Hashirama and Mito's sons. Before joining the Anbu, he decimated the Sunagakure Puppeteer team, cut off Chiyo's arm, murdered the husbands of Ebizō and Chiyo as well as assassinated the Shodaime Kazekage Reto starting the tradition of all Kazekage being killed.
When he joined the Anbu he undertook many shadow missions to ensure Konoha won the war, one of his missions was to help his brother Makoto send a bottle of sake with the Gobi Jinchūriki inside to the Daimyō of Tsuchi no Kuni.
After the war he was appointed Anbu commander, and although he is a bit annoyed by the desk job he actually enjoys being able to spend more time with his nephews and nieces. He doesn't seem to be interested in having a relationship with anyone.
Senjumaki Husbands/Wives
Yoriko Hōki: Member of the Hōki clan, wife of Sukuna Senju and mother of Tsunade and Nawaki Senju.
The Hōki clan is a clan specialising in information gathering and medical ninjutsu. (In the Naruto story the Hōki clan moved from Konoha to Sunagakure but here due to the marriage between Sukuna and Yoriko the clan never left. The clan appears in the Gaara Hiden novel).
Yoriko is a kunoichi who specializes in intelligence gathering and along with her clan provided information to Konoha to win the war.
Takayuki Sakai: Husband of Himiko Senju and father of Masahiko Senju with Himiko.
Takayuki is not a shinobi but a merchant. He works mostly in the sake trade and was involved in the assassination of the Daimyō of Tsuchi no Kuni.
Chiaki Senju: Eiji Senju's twin sister and Himiko Senju's wife.
Chiaki is a kunoichi who specializes in ninjutsu and is a master of Raiton. She is currently the sensei of a team of Genin.
Eiji Senju: Chiaki Senju's twin brother and Himiko Senju's second husband.
Eiji belongs to the Senju clan guard which means he rarely leaves the village and spends most of his time patrolling the Senju compound or with his children.
Hokusai Uzumaki: Husband of Tomoe Uzumaki and father of Honoka and Takato Uzumaki.
He is a civilian craftsman, not a ninja.
Hokusai belongs to a different branch of the Uzumaki clan which has a strong Yin chakra, the branch Hokusai belongs to specializes in creating masks (which are made from human or animal skulls).
Using his Yin chakra Hokusai can create entities made of chakra that he can attach to masks and once these masks are finished the entities can be summoned when you put on the mask however it is not recommended to wear the masks unless you are an Uzumaki as these masks consume a lot of chakra quickly.
Mochizuke Takeda: Daughter of the Daimyō of Hi no Kuni through the second concubine. After her mother's death in childbirth she was adopted by the Daimyō's official wife as her mother was her cousin. She is engaged to Makoto Senju.
Mochizuke was trained by the samurai who protect her father so she is a master swordswoman and was chosen to represent her father in Konoha. She is not sure if she likes being engaged to Makoto.
Hashimito's Grandchildren
I'm still not sure exactly when this is set, but it takes place after the First Shinobi World War and I'm not clear on the ages of the grandchildren.
But they would be something like this: Tsunade>Masahiko>Honoka>Tomiko>Nakano>Nawaki>Takato>Yasu.
Tsunade Senju: Daughter of Sukuna Senju and Yoriko Hōki, and sister of Nawaki Senju.
Tsunade was born before the First Shinobi World War and knew her grandfather Hashirama.
Because the ages are still unclear it is not known if she is already a Jōnin. She is not yet a Sannin as the Second Shinobi World War has not yet happened.
Someday she will be the leader of the Senju clan.
Nawaki Senju: Son of Sukuna Senju and Yoriko Hōki, and brother of Tsunade Senju.
Nawaki was born during the First World War Shinobi and never knew his grandfather Hashirama.
Possibly a gennin.
He likes to tease his cousin Takato.
Masahiko Senju: Son of Himiko Senju and Takayuki Sakai.
He is one year younger than Tsunade, he was born before the First shinobi World War and knew his grandfather Hashirama.
As with Tsunade, because their ages are still unclear, it is not known if he is already a Jōnin.
He has a strong affiliation with Yang chakra.
Tomiko Senju: Daughter of Himiko Senju and Eiji Senju.
She was born before the First Shinobi World War but never met her grandfather Hashirama.
As with Tsunade due to unclear ages it is not yet known if she is already a Jōnin.
She seems to be thinking of becoming one of the 12 guardians of the Daimyō.
Nakano Senju: Daughter of Himiko Senju and Eiji Senju.
She was born at the beginning of the First Shinobi World War and is older than Nawaki.
As with Tsunade due to unclear ages it is not yet known if she is already chunnin.
Yasu Senju: Son of Himiko Senju and Eiji Senju. He is the youngest of Hashirama and Mito's grandchildren by now.
He was born after the First Shinobi World War. He is still a baby.
Honoka Uzumaki: Daughter of Tomoe Uzumaki and Hokusai Uzumaki.
She was born before the First Shinobi World War and as with Tsunade because the ages are still unclear it is not known if she is already a Jōnin.
It is possible that she works in Konoha's research and development department. Honoka has a great interest in experimentation and the creation of new jutsu or Fūinjutsu. She has a special interest in Edo Tensei.
She will one day be the leader of the Uzumaki clan of Konoha.
Takato Uzumaki: Son of Tomoe Uzumaki and Hokusai Uzumaki.
He was born during the First Shinobi World War and is the second youngest grandson of Hashirama and Mito.
He is about to become a gennin.
Takato is a Fūinjutsu obsessive and would prefer to devote himself solely to Fūinjutsu and not be a shinobi.
For Takato(and all his cousins) the most terrifying and powerful person in existence is his grandmother Mito.

~
The first time it happens, Iruka is coming back from his lunch break, freshly washed bento box under his arm, to find a shinobi trading card on his desk. It’s one of the ones with the Second Hokage on it, Nidaime’s disapproving frown glaring up at him. Iruka flips it over to check for any identifying marks and instead finds a note scribbled across the back:
Are dogs really color blind? Mine won’t tell me
Iruka blinks at the absurdity, but tucks the card into his desk. It probably belongs to a student, and he knows enough about the game to know the Hokage cards are rare.
His class comes back from recess, and Iruka promptly forgets all about it.
~
Two days later he’s returning from a toilet break on his shift at the Mission Desk and there’s an empty cigarette pack sitting atop his files. He snatches it up and prepares to sternly lecture everyone present about how to use a trash can, but notices someone’s written on the inside of the top flap:
Yellow is a loud color, but brown eyes are beautiful and soft
And.
It’s the same handwriting, he’s sure of it. But it’s still just... nonsense. Regardless, he flushes lightly because he has brown eyes and whoever left this note thinks—
Confused now instead of angry, he tucks the empty cigarette pack into his pocket, and resolves to think about it later.
~
The next morning when he’s leaving for work, there’s a broken toy kunai on his doormat, the old wooden kind that was popular when Iruka was young, instead of the plastic ones the kids these days favor. Written along the chipped handle, below the broken off ‘blade’, Iruka reads:
No one wants to play tag once you can flash step
He sighs. This is just... ridiculous. This is clearly no longer a coincidence. The handwriting is the same. The junk is the same. The messages are all bafflingly, similarly incomprehensible.
He tucks the kunai toy away and groans. He doesn’t have time to wonder about this now; he will deal with this later, after school.
~
After school finds him not dealing with anything, but rather being accosted by a rambunctious Naruto who demands Iruka treat him to ramen before he leaves on his “super-cool, super-secret ninja mission.”
Iruka remembers assigning the mission; it’s escort duty for a lower-class textiles merchant. He wonders if Naruto is just being Naruto, or if his jōnin-sensei is talking up the mission so he stops complaining. Either way, Iruka acquiesces and takes Naruto for ramen, whereupon he’s treated to a colorful, loud retelling of every mission his team has taken recently, how much more quickly Naruto is progressing than Sasuke, how amazing Sakura is, and how annoying and weird his sensei is.
Iruka chuckles along, and reminds Naruto to be kind to Kakashi-sensei, even if he is weird.
(Predictably, Naruto squawks angrily and declares that it’s Kakashi who should be more kind to him!)
Iruka goes home and doesn’t find any more notes for two more weeks, and figures his trash gremlin has moved on.
~
Naruto returns from his mission and demands ramen again. Relieved that he’s home and unhurt, Iruka gladly treats him and listens to him recount his gallant and brave efforts to fight off three dozen armed bandits, save Sakura from certain peril, and show up Sasuke at every turn. Iruka amusedly recalls that Kakashi, in his predictably terrible penmanship, had described the mission as “uneventful”. He keeps his mouth shut and lets Naruto go on and on.
He’s full and tired as he’s fumbling for his keys and nearly misses the bit of trash that’s jammed in the space between the doorknob and the frame. He mumbles angrily about the state of the world, about inconsiderate litterers. Iruka pulls it out and realizes it’s a folded up paper ramen lid, the kind used on instant ramen. It’s shrimp and spice flavored, and written on the backside of it he reads:
Instant Ramen is much too salty, but I can see the appeal for those with an uncured palette
He resists banging his head against the door, and tucks the note into his pocket. He’d been so hoping that his trash stalker had left him behind, but now it seems they’re criticizing his eating habits.
~
It’s too much to hope that his new trash note leaving friend would stop.
The interval between notes is seemingly random, and the messages are consistently just... weird nonsense.
A smooth, flat stone with a smudged ink note saying My father taught me to skip rocks
A hot sauce packet from a popular barbecue restaurant that reads Do you like spicy foods? I don’t
A bit of crumpled, unused bandage wrap with How did you get the scar on your face?
This confirms for him that the notes are specifically targeted at him, not just anyone who comes along. He keeps them and collects them all, even though he knows he should just toss them. It’s all junk; but he can’t seem to find the heart to do so. Someone is thinking of him, specifically, and putting these little notes in his way for him to find. It feels wrong to throw them away.
And anyway, the notes are odd but ultimately harmless. He finds them in the strangest places. On his desk at school is common, tucked into his favorite mug in the teacher’s lounge, stuck to his usual chair at the mission room, tucked between paperwork files. He even gets one written on the paper wrapping of his disposable chopsticks at Ichiraku’s on his usual Friday ramen stop.
Maybe I’m going insane, he thinks as he folds up a stained receipt from a curry restaurant—it’s dated three years prior and simply reads Good friends are worth everything. He’s tried asking everyone if they saw who was there, who could have left the trash behind, but no one ever sees anything. He doesn’t mention the notes, because he’s not sure he wants to tell anyone he’s got some kind of… secret-trash-admirer.
He starts keeping them in a box that he keeps in his closet, and every time he pulls it down, he pokes through the items, trying to find a pattern, a clue, anything that might help him determine who his tenacious new friend is.
But there’s nothing.
Just, a box full of trash and junk and the seemingly disconnected thoughts of a stark raving lunatic.
He adds his three newest treasures (an empty can of tomato juice from a vending machine that reads I don’t know how you can stand children, a broken comb with Maybe I should cut my hair, and an empty bottle of the polish most Shinobi use to clean their weaponry that simply says Sunrises are better than sunsets) to the box, replaces the lid and shoves it away in the back of the closet.
For now, the mystery continues.
~
In the end, it’s Naruto, his not-quite-a-son-not-quite-a-brother, who helps him crack the case.
The box of treasure is sitting on his kitchen table, because he has a handful of new items to add, and Naruto comes banging on his door, demanding dinner and a sympathetic ear about Kakashi-sensei’s latest “dumbass training method.” Iruka sighs, but corrals him into the kitchen and sets him to cleaning and peeling vegetables for their dinner at the table, which Naruto sets to with some grumbling.
Iruka is busy poking at the pot of boil-in-a-bag curry on the stove (his most recent note was written on the wrapper of an empty pack of fast-acting antacids and read Curry is the worst, kickstarting a craving) so he isn’t paying attention until Naruto calls out to him;
“Oi, Iruka-sensei, what’s all this stuff?”
“Oh,” Iruka turns and his cheeks go pink, “It’s… nothing. Just some old junk.”
“It looks like garbage,” Naruto opines loudly, poking around the box, picking up a ramen lid and examining it closely, “I like this flavor! But it’s got something written on it, Iruka-sensei!”
“Really, it’s nothing Naruto!” Iruka crosses the kitchen and makes a grab for both the box and the note Naruto is holding but Naruto is quicker and steps back.
“‘Ramen isn’t a full food group’,” Naruto reads, squinting, “That’s stupid! Ramen is great—hey, y’know, this looks like Kakashi-sensei’s writing.”
Iruka blinks, eyes wide, before he laughs, “I’ve seen Kakashi’s writing. I collect mission reports, remember? His is much, much worse.”
“That’s not his real writing,” Naruto tells him distractedly, still rifling through the box. “He always writes his mission reports with his left hand. He says it helps keep the Mission Desk workers on their toes, but I think he just likes watching you guys twitch. Hey, I used to have one of these!” Naruto plucks out the shinobi trading card with Nidaime on it, flipping it over, “Aw, they wrote on this! It’s worthless now!”
Iruka isn’t listening, reeling from what Naruto just revealed.
Kakashi’s handwriting.
Everything starts clicking nearly into place. Dogs. Hatred for spicy food. Bits of bandage and weapons oil, clearly used by a shinobi. Notes left stealthily, no one ever seeing a thing.
And come to think of it, he never gets notes when Naruto—when Naruto’s team is out of the village…
“Hey, are you okay Iruka-sensei?” Naruto asks suddenly. “You look kinda pale.”
“I’m… fine, Naruto,” Iruka tells him faintly. “But you’ll have to take your dinner to-go tonight.”
“Aww, why?” Naruto whines.
“Because I have to plan a murder,” Iruka tells him, and pats his head.
Naruto, wisely, gets his curry to go.
~
The next morning, he’s calmed enough to move from considering homicide to just grievous bodily injury.
He should probably talk to Hatake first though, to find out why. The day goes by slowly, Iruka’s thoughts distracted by the idea of talking to Hatake Kakashi. He yells at five pre-genin, and confiscates two stolen shuriken and a half finished pack of gum. He has the afternoon free from the Mission Desk, and sets out once the final bell rings to find Naruto’s jōnin-sensei.
He doesn’t have much luck, until he runs into Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke, who tell him they last saw Kakashi skulking near the river. He thanks them both and resolutely ignores Naruto loudly whispering to Sasuke about trashy notes and how Iruka-sensei’s gonna rip Kakashi-sensei a new—
He crosses a bridge and looks up and down the channel until he sees Hatake lounging against a tree near the bank. For once he doesn’t have his nose buried in one of those lurid little books of his, but there is something else in his hands.
“Kakashi-san!” Iruka calls loudly, striding up to him. He watches Kakashi jump, startled, and fumble what he’s holding; Iruka nearly chuckles because Kakashi was so engrossed that he didn’t even notice Iruka nearby—
And then he realizes that the thing in his hands is just another piece of trash, an empty candy box, and there’s ink on his fingertips, and he loses his cool because this fuck was getting ready to leave him another note.
“Iruka-sensei,” Kakashi covers smoothly, straightening up and shoving his hands behind his back, giving his best eye smile. “What a nice surprise. How can I help you?”
“You!” Iruka planned to be calm, he really did, but Kakashi is still trying to hide this shit from him and he loses his temper, “What do you think you’re doing?!”
“Me?” Kakashi asks innocently, widening his eye as if Iruka’s not a teacher and can’t sense bullshit from a mile away, “What did I do?”
“You—!” Iruka repeats with a shout, hands on his hips in prime shouting position, “You have been stalking me for months! Leaving weird trash all over my desk! And my doorstep! And in my mug! What the actual fuck??”
“Um…” Kakashi stammers, shrinking back, but Iruka’s in fine form now, and cuts him off, still shouting—
“I’ve been going crazy for months thinking I’m being hunted by some kind of-of—freakish raccoon, or something! And—”
“Maa sensei,” Kakashi holds up his hands, trying to no avail to placate him—
“—You don’t even care! Why?! Why have you been sending me notes written on trash!?”
“Well,” Kakashi hesitates, shrugging and scrubbing the back of his neck, “I… couldn’t find any paper?”
Iruka groans, going bright red, vein popping in his temple, “You absolute idiot! That’s all you can say for yourself!? And what’s this about handing in shitty mission reports on purpose?!”
“Hey now,” Kakashi says, waving his hands in a calming motion, “one thing at a time here—”
Iruka forces himself to take a deep breath, to try and calm down, exhaling loudly and finally crossing his arms over his chest. “Fine,” he spits between gritted teeth. “One thing at a time. Why have you been sending me notes written on garbage?”
“Um,” Kakashi answers, and the sliver of his visible face starts going red, “I—I can stop. I’m sorry.”
“No! No-No-No,” Iruka barks, “I want to know why!”
“Why? Well—”
“Why me? Did I offend you? Is this some weird, jōnin-style revenge for demanding you turn in legible reports?”
“No, no, nothing like that,” Kakashi says, starting to sweat.
“Then why?” Iruka asks, totally exasperated. “What is it that’s compelled you to write ‘Do you think a dog could make chūnin?’ on a restaurant napkin and leave it in my shoe at the bathhouse!?”
Kakashi picks his head up and asks, “You… remember them?”
“I—” Iruka feels his own face heat up, just a little. “They’re very memorable,” he mutters. “But that’s not the point.”
“All of them?”
“Kaka—yes, I… I remember them all, but why?”
Kakashi looks almost eager as he steps forward and says, “I didn’t even think you cared.”
“Someone was leaving me notes about their life,” Iruka says, feeling like he’s lost the thread of this conversation, yet also compelled to continue this line of thought. “Someone else cared enough about these little moments enough to tell me. Of course I remembered; of course I care.”
Kakashi just looks at him like he’s never heard something so ridiculous, and Iruka watches the blush creep over the line of his mask until he finally speaks.
“I… I like you,” Kakashi stutters, so red now he could glow in the dark.
What.
“Huh?”
“I… I really… like you,” Kakashi repeats.
“You like… me?” Iruka says slowly, still reeling from this revelation.
“Yes?”
“Is that a question or an answer?”
“...Yes?”
Iruka finds his anger again. He grits his teeth and growls, “You mean to tell me. That you’ve been hiding trash in my shoes… because you like me?”
Kakashi’s much more hesitant to answer this time, but he hazards another quiet, “Yes?”
“You, you…!” Iruka shouts wordlessly and Kakashi flinches backwards. “You’ve been sending me love notes on trash this entire time instead of just talking to me?!”
“Well, you see—I—I just, whenever I would see something and think, ‘What would Iruka think,’ I just… I wanted to let you know I was thinking of you.”
“But you never signed them!” Iruka throws up his hands. “How was I supposed to know it was you when you never even talked to me? And why did you write them on literal garbage?”
“I really didn’t have any paper,” Kakashi shrugs, “at least, not at first. And I… I didn’t think you’d care very much?”
Iruka just stares at him, narrowing his eyes and trying to tell if Kakashi’s pulling his—but, no, there’s no way he’d make this up for a laugh, that he’d keep this prank up for so long. He finally sighs, despairing, pinching the bridge of his nose to try and fight off a headache. He asks, grumbling, “Why didn’t you just ask me out like a normal person?”
“I didn’t think you’d say yes,” Kakashi mutters, shoving his hands in his pockets, scuffing his foot on the ground like… like a child.
“So your solution was to slowly drive me insane by leaving cryptic notes on instant ramen lids?” Iruka groans. “Who does that?!”
“I’m sorry, sensei,” Kakashi says in a low voice, dropping his head slightly, “I didn’t mean to… inconvenience you. I will stop.”
“You—” Iruka sputters, suddenly faced with the prospect of never finding another trash note, “You—I—give me your pen!”
“What?” Kakashi blinks.
“Your pen,” Iruka repeats impatiently, holding out his hand. “The one you had been using before to write on that candy box you’re so cleverly hiding in your weapons pouch.”
Kakashi slowly hands over his pen while Iruka rifles through his own pockets… And there! Just what he was looking for.
He pops a piece of gum into his mouth and scribbles on the wrapper, shoving both it and the pen back into Kakashi’s hands, before turning and striding away, face flushed with a unique blend of nervousness and embarrassment.
~
Kakashi stares after him, wide eyed, for a long moment, before dropping his eyes and reading Iruka’s neat writing, scrawled onto the gum wrapper:
Being a teacher has made me hate chewing gum
But there's more, on the other side:
Come over at 7 for dinner, I’ll order in; NOT curry

Suna literature
These are all a personal headcanon. Let me know if you like them or what you think of them!
These are also not the full extent of all Sunagakure’s literature. Monzaemon Chikamatsu himself has written more than a 130 plays in his lifetime. Plus there’s all that oral tradition where certain myths and folklore stories are passed down from one person to another, each with their own little twist on the story. These story tellings, performances, and plays have been ubiquitous in Suna’s literature for most of its founding years and what I have in mind for the titles written below are just the ‘required readings’ for all little Suna academy kids! So we start with where oral tradition became written word:
Songs of the Skyworld
In Kaze no Kuni lore, the world came to be when the Earth Mother and the Sky Father split into two with the ever present Horizon in the middle. The Sky Father rules over the Skyworld of which human beings are not allowed to enter. Those from the Skyworld are not always pure of heart— but they do see everything (including what has happened, what is happening, and what will happen) beneath their lands and would, sometimes, whisper their songs into the dreams of certain chosen people. They even tell these people certain myths and creation stories. These people, in turn, share the visions through songs. These distinctly soft but full soprano notes and their lyrics make up the Songs of the Skyworld.
Follow me into the desert
There is no Underworld in Kaze no Kuni (except if you worship the God of Death, Yashin, who has his own Kingdom). Only the Great Desert awaits those who were born in these lands— it doesn’t matter where you die, you always return to the desert. Back to the Earth Mother who nourishes. “Follow me into the desert” is less of a compilation of stories and more a series of rules and guidance on how to live ‘a good life’. There’s no real consequence for those who do not follow these rules— though some say that good children will find an oasis in the Great Desert and those who do not will only have parched throats. But this is not written in the text.
Horizon
The Horizon is a collection of stories on prominent shinobi who were born in Kaze no Kuni (with a growing bias for those in Sunagakure). This was written in the wake of the Third Shinobi War in order to boost morale among shinobi who were fighting. And the promise was that the book will expand to cover the courageous exploits of shinobi in the Third War as well.
Book of Kings
This is a large and often updated tome with, so far, five volumes— each volume corresponding to a Kazekage.
The first volume, In the hidden sands, chronicles the Shodaime Kazekage’s unification of Kaze no Kuni and his creation of Sunagakure— as written by Monzaemon Chikamatsu himself. As such, majority of the book was written as a play and meant to be performed with puppets, a narrator, and a medley of instruments. The second volume, In the hall of the king, picks up from Reto’s death and the Nidaime’s ascent into power. This was also written by Chikamatsu but it lacks the oomph of the first volume and is the most rarely performed volume of the Book. The third, In the shadow of the Rising Sun (yes, the capitalization is distinct), was written after Monzaemon was permitted to retire by the Third Kazekage. The new propaganda di— writer of the book continued the style of the previous volumes but started long before the last volume ended. It is a full chronicle on the life of the Third Kazekage even before his reign started— and thus becomes very colorful in showing his personality. The fourth, In the darkest night, is the only one so far that deviates from Chikamatsu’s influence as a playwright. It is more of a series of essays— almost reflective of the Fourth Kazekage’s more reserved and contemplative personality (at least compared to his brothers). The framing is surprisingly kind to Rasa despite him having very little interest in directing this (possibly because it is a propaganda book). It opens with a very short poem about the stars that guided the travelers through the darkest night being made of gold dust.
Monzaemon Chikamatsu
His name is almost synonymous to the arts in Sunagakure. He had been a shinobi-turned-entertainer for the Daimyo’s court when Reto stopped his caravan and kidnapped the man. Accounts differ on what happened next. Some say that Chikamatsu’s actions were purely for self preservation. What else would you do when you’re abducted by the strongest shinobi in Kaze no Kuni?! Some say that he was absolutely smitten. Either way, he swore allegiance to Reto almost immediately and began documenting his best feats into plays that he would perform for the Shodaime’s amusement.
Beyond political plays, Chikamatsu was largely known for writing spicy tragedies. His earlier works included “Murder Suicide” where an obsessive man who could not marry his beloved due to societal norms decides to poison his lover and then himself— they can live out the rest of eternity in the Great Desert. He also wrote “Dangerous Games” which was a very popular play set in the Daimyo’s court with their politics and intrigue. “Blackened Spires” follows the story of a lone kunoichi’s quest for meaning and finds it in (no surprise) the service of her village.
However, his works took a downhill turn on the death of Reto. Most people consider “Double Suicide” as his master work— performed as part of the Shodaime Kazekage’s eulogy. The plot follows very closely to his earlier “Murder Suicide” but with a softer and more somber tone. The man was also shown to have a wife in this version (he was single in Murder Suicide). The two heroes chose love over their duty, drank the poison together, and the wife was left to pick up the pieces of what happened. It was a popular opinion then that this was Chikamatsu’s way of writing a ‘happy’ ending for him and the late Kazekage— yet knowing that he was really the dutiful wife left to pick up the pieces.
Bitter Wine
We move from the height of puppet plays (and though they remain popular, no one can truly rival the master himself) and enter into a world where the technology from the East reaches Sunagakure. Back when Sasori’s generation were kids, there would often be a radio in a nearby restaurant. When a popular radio drama was playing, the restaurant can be sure to have a lot of people come in and order tea— mostly to listen to it. Bitter Wine was a radio drama about two shinobi spies from different villages who became lovers. Sasori thinks it’s stupid. Especially since you can’t SEE anything. There’s no REAL performance— everything is recorded! Karura and Yashamaru are big fans though!
As told in the Black Lands
This is not one of Sunagakure’s required readings. It’s actually a banned book in the village. Another series of essays— sometimes there are poems in it— that are, largely, criticisms of the shinobi system as a whole and Sunagakure in particular. The village hasn’t been able to identify the author which is because there are multiple authors. The book is always copied by hand and with each copy another essay is added.
#Sunagakure#Sunagakure headcanons#Because Amaya gets obsessive on random world building again#NECESSARY world building btw#cuz I need thigns for my babies to perform in my fanfic#Also yes the random influences include the Bible#random songs and Chikamatsu's actual works (including Love Suicides)#Feel free to reblog btw#Reblog as is#reblog with your opinions#just don't bash characters but beyond that I'd love to hear what everyone thinks!

Tobirama's standards and expectations were exceedingly high. Much higher than the Nanadaime can cope with. A stoic look carrying deft commands, orders, and verbal lashings, the office felt as if it was surrendered entirely to the previous Nidaime with Naruto no better an intern to his own position.
Naruto stuttered through his appointment, struggling to deliver the harrowing news to the Sannin, practically melting under the judging glance of ruby eyes. The Senju had half the mind to cut him short and interrupt him, but hand-holding the sitting kage through delegation won't teach him to know better.
"Who else?" Tobirama spoke, responding to the snake's taunt," there's no one left willing to bother with you nor you antics, it seems."
The former Nidaime did try passing the word around, seeking to volunteer someone deemed capable, but all he received in return were feigned glances and quiet mutters. Even top specialists that were not deterred by Orochimaru's name alone touted their busy schedule and passed recommendations to students who were quick to reject said offer within hours.
Seems that if a job needs to be done right, he'd have to do it himself.
"Follow me."
Saving Naruto's nerves ( Tobirama's senses were being assaulted by the sour of his anxiety and flame whips of his worry ), he walked himself ahead of the room, leaving whatever task he was parsing through on the table for later sorting.
"The only spare cadavers left are the ones in the old medical ward near the basement," he said, allowing the Sannin to match his pace," it's well ventilated and sealed from wandering eyes as well, so you can progress at a pace appropriate for you."
Before the Hokage could answer Orochimaru's perfunctory question, a familiar deep voice interrupted them. Annoyance seemed to be Tobirama's default, at least… whenever the Sannin was concerned. Naruto winced, opening his mouth to no doubt offer up an explanation. However, Orochimaru just continued to smile that pleasant, unnerving smile he often wore and turned to offer Tobirama a shallow bow, "Ah, I trust that you are well, Nidaime-sama? Please forgive my lack of manners, I've seem to have misplaced them…" the 'along with your's' was left unsaid. Naruto must have picked up on something within his tone, for he began to wave his hands and started stumbling over the reason for Orochimaru's summons.
The Sannin quietly regarded the Senju for a couple of moments (assessing, really) and turned to give the Hokage his attention. It was long winded and was quickly becoming apparent that it weighed heavily on the young Hokage's mind. Stress lines and exhaustion marred his face, coupled with a tight voice from worry, and really it was no wonder as to why? Missing shinobi and a sudden onset of poisoning. An unknown alkaloid… 'Fascinating…'
"That is very concerning indeed." A quiet mutter, hand resting under his chin while his index finger tapped his right cheek. 'They are most certainly connected. If not, then a peculiar set of coincidences.' Orochimaru's gaze focused back on the Hokage, a quiet sort of determination with no little curiosity flashed through his eyes. "You have a lab and the cadavers set up, yet?" He very gracefully ignored Naruto's grimace.
"Yes, we will be appointing you a-" the Nanadaime cleared his throat, forcing the grim look off his face (and failing, Orochimaru noted) then continued "You will be appointed a partner-" Naruto was cut off, tensing and watching the snake summoner before him.
The Sannin just chuckled softly, shaking his head. "What you mean to say is: Chaperone. Someone to oversee my work." He knew it was coming. Always being under a watchful eye, why would this be any different? "Very well. Who shall be my partner? I'm quite certain there are not many-" he licked his lower lip before he smirked lopsidedly "volunteers."
((This post pissed me off. Not for the normal reasons. My Circus... I, like the foolish being that I am, left my phone screen unlocked (enticing enough on it's own to a toddler) but then have music playing as well? Why, let me tell you! My toddler waltzed right up to my phone, grabbed it, and messed up the whole reply e.e... I was not thrilled as it took me some time to get it fleshed out. Ah well.))

Madara meeting his Uzumaki granddaughter during the War - Part IV (FINAL)
So, we’ve reached the final part... I hope you like this one as much as I liked to work on it, and beware of Madara’s Katon 😜
Title: ...
Genre: Fanfiction
Pairing: Madara Uchiha x Uzumaki!reader (family; no romantic)
Rating: teen | up
Word count: 2138
Chapter (s): 4/4
Warnings: canon divergences and some existential crisis, vapor blinding everyone, savage Tobirama waking reader up and Sasuke in the background like what is he even doing in this story lmao
Symbols: ✔ | ➕ | ▶▶
Read the previous parts here: Part I, Part II, Part III
Those were the first words that came from Madara’s mouth directly to you. You saw his smile widening. What was going on?
- Well done – he continued, his tone unchanged – This technique of yours is really impressive.
You held your breath, your hands shaking, unable to maintain the seal’s position. A muffled laugh was heard.
- You must be confused, child. I do not blame you. As you said, I am a man out of his time. So it is not a surprise that you cannot understand what you have in front of you. And this is why you believed such technique would work on me.
You stepped back, but it was the farthest you could go from him. Something in his chakra started to change, to grow, forcing you to gravitate toward him. Slowly, you felt your own chakra vanishing, escaping your control, and the signs of your jutsu – the chains and the golden seal around his head – started to disappear. The stakes’ size diminished, and they turned back to what they were before, simple hair pins. Without your chakra running through them, they fell to the floor.
When everything was gone, Madara stared at you, and you saw that his eyes were changed: instead of the red pattern of the Sharingan, there were lilac waves that you’ve only knew from pictures and which existence you doubt once: the Rinnegan.
- Now that we finished with this child’s play, we can talk properly – Madara said – Let me explain. This dojutsu you are seeing is known as the Rinnegan. It can absorb all ninjutsu, including sealing techniques. As you see, the problem is not with the technique itself. It is just that it wouldn’t work on me. So do not take it personally.
You were still quiet, still not believing it. The work of your entire life, your father’s heirloom, was contained and dismissed as nothing. How?
When you looked at your grandfather again, you noticed a new expression on his face, something between acknowledgment and nostalgia. He uncrossed his arms and started walking toward you. Yet you couldn’t move. You were so frustrated, so ashamed… It was when a sudden anger took over your senses, something that you thought to be from your Uchiha side, and you ran toward Madara. To attack him or to die, it didn’t matter.
In your way, you grabbed two of your pins and used your chakra to turn them into stakes again. With a scream, you jumped in front of him and started striking him with the stakes, combining them with every taijutsu move you were capable of remember. However, none of them could’ve hit him: he wasn’t even defending himself; he was just deflecting them with no difficulty. At some point, he grabbed one of the stakes and broke it as a dead branch; then he held your wrist and made you drop the second stake.
- This chakra of yours, child… – he said, looking into your eyes – Soaked in all this pride and anger… It is not an Uzumaki thing. It is from the Uchiha, though you have no dojutsu. Still, it’s so blatant you couldn’t expect to hide it from me.
- What...? – you mumbled.
Madara smiled with what you’d call softness in any other person.
- So, my son had his own child, and as I can see, he raised her well. Combining a sealing technique with dojutsu’s counteraction… It is so like him.
- But.. how do you…?
- Why the surprise? – he laughed – Of course I would recognize something created by my son. Even more the reminiscence of his chakra on his offspring... my granddaughter.
You weren’t sure of how to feel about this, being acknowledged by Madara as part of his family. But he didn’t give you time to think.
- Yes. I figured it out once I put my eyes on you – he explained.
Still holding you by the wrist, he made you approach.
- As it used to happen with your father, there’s something in you that reminds me of Izuna, my little brother. Maybe it is the way you are looking at me now, or anything else – then the nostalgic trait came back to his face – A child who has Uchiha and Uzumaki blood running in her veins. If only I have found you before… I would not waste my time with Nagato and Obito. I would have left my Rinnegan with you, and you would have prepared everything for my return.
With his free hand, Madara touched your chin and made you look directly into his eyes. You didn’t even consider closing yours; you have no time to react.
- Still, it is not too late. Listen. I am now offering you an opportunity, child. I am creating something that will save the people of this world from all their misery, and you can join me in this. Join your family, and help me to help your friends. Think of what is best for them. A wise person would do so.
You started to drown in his words and his eyes. There, you saw something. You saw everything. His childhood; his father; his brother, Izuna, who was really like your father. You saw Hashirama as a child, and he and Madara playing together. You saw your grandfather’s life, the battles he fought, his passion and his dreams. You also saw his loss, his rage and his fear. You felt his suffering as your own. You mourned and cried with him. There were so much that you didn’t know, that your father didn’t tell you, that Kakashi and the others could never imagine, never understand. And Madara survived all of this, and managed to come back. All of this must have served for something. Maybe this was indeed a chance to save people from suffering the same as him. Maybe he was right, maybe…
A sudden scream cut the air and came to you as if you were coming out of a nightmare. It was the Yondaime’s voice.
- Y/n-san! Do not listen to him!
Then the Nidaime’s voice joined his.
- Y/n-san, do not be a fool!
And finally, the Shodai’s.
- This is not what your father would want, y/n-san!
Somehow, their advice interfered in the jutsu and gave you the strength you needed to look into Madara’s eyes and stand your ground.
- Do not take it personally, grandpa, but I think you should really go back to the other side – you smirked – I’m not joining you, not now, not in a million years. Besides, I don’t like being called a child!
You tried to release your wrist and step back to join the Hokages and think of a new plan, but you soon found out you couldn’t move. You started to choke, and your feet no longer felt the ground under them. With his right hand, Madara was now grabbing your throat.
- If you do not like to be called a child, you should not behave like one – his tone changed to something impossible to describe but as monstrous – I gave you a chance, but you wasted it. Since this is the choice you’ve made, be ready to pay price for it.
Shaking your feet and trying to take his hands off you was useless. You could wait for Minato or Tobirama to use their seals and take you away, but you didn’t have much time. What were you going to do? You needed to think, and quick…
So you didn’t exactly think of it. It just happened. You realized that if you could put all your weight in Madara’s grip, you’d gain a second of distraction from him. So you did it, and when he seemed to wonder what you were trying to do, you pressed your right foot on his chest to get some support; then you wrapped his right arm with your left leg and turned around yourself to release your throat from his hand and hit him with your right ankle. The pain was unbearable and your lungs burned without air, but it worked. Madara released you and defended himself from your strike with his arm.
You fell on the floor and stood there, lying on your back and coughing. The last thing you saw was the hand seal he made to perform a Katon technique. You covered your eyes and felt the air burn as it entered your nostrils; you thought your skin was about to melt. You were about to die…
The sound of a flow invaded the space around you. When you were able to open your eyes, you saw a water wall in front of you, stopping the fire’s spread: Tobirama was beside you, using his Suiton. A second later and your vision was all blurry, for the collision between the two opposite Releases created a dense, yellowish vapor. You tried to stand up, but someone took you in their arms and you were moved.
When you looked around, you saw it was Minato.
- Yondaime…! – you tried to speak, but the hot air entered your throat and you coughed again.
- Please, do not speak now, y/n-san – you heard him saying – Let’s find a place out of this vapor wall.
He used his Hiraishin again and the change in the air was so sudden that you startled. You were now on a higher place; you blinked a few times until the burning sensation disappeared from your eyes, and you could see clearly again: the night seemed darker than you remembered, or it was just the vapor’s effect. The air you were breathing now was freezing.
Minato put you down once you reached that place, but stood by your side, holding your shoulders. You were shaking. You raised your eyes to him, and started crying even before you noticed.
- Yondaime… I failed – it was the only thing you were capable to say.
But it wasn’t deception nor desperation what you saw in his face. His first response to your words was to smile.
- Take some rest, y/n-san – he asked – You did an impressive job, but it might have drained your energy.
Sakura, the girl from Kakashi’s team, approached you and stretched her hands to examine your throat.
- It’s not too serious. I can quickly heal it.
- Thank you, Sakura-san – you replied as she used her medical ninjutsu in you.
Right behind her, Naruto Uzumaki had his eyes wide open to you.
- That final strike you used against Madara was incredible, y/n-san! – he stated – I bet even he was impressed.
Kakashi was there too, and so was Sasuke.
- It seems that Madara had more information that we first imagined – Kakashi deliberated, looking down at the valley from where you just escaped – This can be a problem as big as his power as a shinobi.
For a moment, no one seemed to have a response for this. You looked down, feeling your hope vanishing. Sakura finished her work, and your pain was gone. You noticed that she had a serious look, but even her was finding hard to maintain any positivity. Everyone’s chakra was growing colder, drowning in frustration, and yours was no exception.
It was when you sensed a change in Minato’s chakra, close to you. He held your shoulders more firmly and looked at each of you. You thought that, more than ever, he was looking like the Hokage he must have been in the past.
First, he looked at you and Sakura.
- Giving up right now would be disrespectful to the long way we’ve traveled to get where we are.
Then to his son and Sasuke.
- The Shodai, the Nidaime, the Sandaime, the other Kages and every shinobi that came to fight are doing their best right now. We cannot stay behind.
Finally, he turned to Kakashi.
- I’m sure the Nidaime is forming a new plan at this moment, and the Shodai is using all his strength to stand between Madara and us. They are counting on us.
Minato just said the his last word, and someone teleported to your side. It was Tobirama’s clone. As he soon informed, he came to state the new strategy he created with his brother and to say that they were going to need all the help you could offer. All of you nodded in agreement, and then the clone explained the plan.
You sensed your chakra calming down at his words. The Yondaime was right. Not everything you did was a failure. It was information and the secret of the Rinnegan that put Madara one step ahead. Besides, you knew it was not going to be easy. But the war was far from its end.
And as long as you not gave up on it, there would be hope for you.

you never said goodbye (2/2) // tobirama senju x reader
Summary: in which Tobirama never makes it from his last mission.
Part One
///
You wake up at dawn, and find Tobirama’s eyes on you again, vigilant.
This time, you don’t even question him. You press your body against him and you lean forward to kiss him on the lips. He does not stiffen this time, and instead, he pushes against you until you are lying flat on your back. You meet his intense red eyes, and you feel yourself shiver from anticipation.
He places himself in between your legs, and he leans forward, catching your lips passionately.
This is your favorite Tobirama.
You take his hands and place them over your breasts, and he gives them a firm squeeze.
You are desperate to feel him, to have him before he gives it his all to his village, before he goes on this mission. You two are never keen on goodbyes, having the faith that you will make it back home. This is how you tell him goodbye, because you hated the finality of that word. If it was up to him, he would have said goodbye firmly, and that was that. You told him before that you never want to hear it.
He slides in and out of you, making sure to grind against your walls slowly. Your whimpers become moans, and you hear his quiet grunts–he was always so silent when making love. You glimpse his face, and you find him pleased as you moan in pleasure, driving into you relentlessly until you are writhing beneath him and you let go of everything.
You pant as you come down from your high, then Tobirama throws his sleeping clothes at you.
“Let’s eat,” he orders, as if he is already on the field.
You throw him a smile as you quickly get dressed, and then follow him out of your shared bedroom.
You finish early to prepare him his food rations and a light lunch, then you head to the bathroom to prepare his bath. Usually, the servants in the house would help out, but Tobirama is picky and loves his privacy. He does not want anyone wandering into your spaces.
You wait for him to freshen up by lying on the bed and reading a book. A few moments later, he pads into the bedroom to dress.
You set down your book to watch him dress. “I polished your armor and repaired the kinks that were bothering you.”
Tobirama pauses, his hands stopping to reach for the armor in midair. “Thank you,” he utters gravely.
He places his hand on the surface of his armor.
Back then, he wouldn’t have let you touch a thing of his. Now, it’s become a routine of yours whenever he is about to go on a mission. You reckon it’s probably because he feels bad that he had inevitably forced you out of service.
“I’ll help you put it on,” you say, getting out of your bed, still in his clothes.
He watches you, and then averts his eyes when you get closer. “Alright,” he quietly says.
After getting him all geared up, the two of you walk the streets of the village, heading to the gates where he and his team planned to rendezvous. You grab his hand, but he flinches and pulls away.
You scoff. “Tobi, it’s early as hell. No one’s going to see you get mushy with your wife.”
Tobirama sighs and he takes your hand, but he presses closer to you so that it is hidden from view. You roll your eyes, but instead of saying anything else, you decide to bask in the proximity.
His team arrives right on time, and Tobirama has put a chaste distance between you. You chat with his team for a bit, asking Uchiha Kagami about his new wife, teasing Sarutobi Hiruzen and Shimura Danzo, trading gossip with Koharu. Then, when it is time to say goodbye, you watch them walk away.
You and Tobirama did not need to trade words. His eyes linger on your face, then he nods his goodbye. You watch him go with pride swelling in your chest. You understand him and his stoic ways, but that is who he is.
///
As the Nidaime Hokage’s wife, you try your best to help out your husband. In his absences due to long missions, you are the one who facilitates meetings, organizes what needs to get approval, write notes and dates on what Tobirama needs to attend to when he returns, and even arrange piles of contracts and drafts of treaties. You would do it in a way he would do it himself, because you knew that he would be on your case if it isn’t to his liking.
He usually prefers doing everything on his own, but you had vowed to make him a great Hokage, and with every great Hokage there is a wife who is like their backbone in the job. He grudgingly lets you do so, since there is nothing else you can busy yourself with, and although he would not admit it, your support has made a difference and he is coming home earlier and short of total exhaustion.
You meet with the clan heads’ wives, either in your own home or in their households. This is how you siphon information from each clan to get to your husband without prying. You learn of who is born and who is about to get married, who is about to have a new child, or who is about to go into the Academy. You make mental notes about their slips about their husbands, and lend your advice should they ask it of you.
You also attend a few events where you are invited. Normally, you and Tobirama should be the ones attending, but he is never one to go to a social event unless it is directly connected to his work, so you’re the one who handles this part of his job.
You visit a few establishments that are being built, and you meet with the workers and the shinobis. They make a few requests that you will run through with Tobirama later, and wish them luck on their work.
In the evenings, you go to Hashirama and Mito’s household, either to eat dinner or to gossip with Mito. You meet with Tobirama’s toddler grand-niece, Tsunade, who runs around the compound like she rules the world.
You and Mito drink tea and eat the prepared snacks, exchanging quips about your husbands.
“He told me not to mourn him,” you relay what Tobirama said a few nights ago. “He’s so silly sometimes.”
“He just doesn’t want you to be sad,” Mito chuckles.
“I know,” you say. “But like, can’t he say it in another way? It’s like he’s commanding his troops or something. I’m his wife–not a subordinate. That’s why I stopped running missions.”
Mito laughs and she tells you about Hashirama’s gambling and how Tsunade is picking up on his bad habits. You look at her untouched snack and you realize how hungry you are. You ask for her food, even though you normally would not eat other people’s plates. You have been hungry a lot for the past several weeks.
The next day, you are in his office and you stare at the empty desk where the Hokage should be the one occupying. Tobirama’s desk is quickly piling up with documents, and some of it is delegated to the floor.
When you come home, the smell of cooking meat in the streets makes you nauseous, and when you pause to stare longingly at Tobirama’s face on the mountain, you throw up in the nearest trash can, much to your chagrin. You are exhausted like you have been running for miles, but you push through it. You couldn’t keep anything down and whatever food comes your way makes you want to throw up, so you opt for a bland porridge.
///
You snap awake from your sleep, feeling something in your own body break in half. You are not sure what it is, but it does not let you go back to sleep. You end up pacing around in the house like a ghost, and you had started shaking from the feeling.
Something is wrong. You are absolutely sure and the feeling frightens you.
You did not want to wake up a servant so you make yourself tea to calm yourself down, but you give up as you almost scalded yourself from inattentiveness.
You hate being like this.
The nervous energy in your body makes you throw up, and when dawn arrives, you are wary. You try to keep down the food that the servants had given you to munch on, but there is only so much you can tolerate.
A few hours later, Sarutobi Hiruzen arrives, alone and rugged, like he hasn’t slept for days and has just come home.
One look on his face, and you knew what he would say before he even gave voice to it.
You fall to your knees, and Hiruzen comes forward to catch you.
“Where is his body?” You whisper hoarsely.
Hiruzen presses his lips together, his eyes dark. “My lady, I don’t think you should see his body at the moment.”
“Please. He’s my husband,” you croak out. Tears prickle your eyes, and your vision becomes blurred.
You try not to break down crying
“H-how did he die?”
Hiruzen looks stricken. “He…sacrificed himself, made himself a decoy. He fought well.”
“That…self-sacrificing bastard,” you murmur. You knew something like this would happen, that he will put his life on the line for the village and its people, and it is something you love him for, but it still hurts.
“I am sorry, my lady.”
“You’re his successor, yes?” You’ve had these talks for a while, that should this even happen, he is planning to make Hiruzen the Sandaime.
Hiruzen clears his throat, not expecting this question. “Yes.”
Do not mourn me.
“What of the rest of his team?”
“We are alive, thanks to him. We were surrounded by enemy shinobi from Kumo.”
You try to smile but it comes out as a grimace. Such is a life for a shinobi. To die in the battlefield is an honor.
“My lady,” Hiruzen starts, hesitantly.
“Yes?”
“He told me to tell you that he is both thankful and sorry.”
You smile ruefully, despite the grief overtaking your heart.
Do not mourn me, Tobirama had said, but when you were flitting between consciousness and the land of your dreams, he had whispered the most important words that he couldn’t say to you.
You had already known.
END.

The Hokage of Konoha
A Hokage is the one who is in charge of the management of Konoha, the Village Hidden by the Leaves . He has the same functions as a mayor of any municipality in our reality. He is usually chosen because he is the most powerful Shinobi in the village, but also for other important criteria, namely his ideology and fame. To date, only seven ninjas have succeeded at the Hokage post in Konoha village. These are six Shinobis and a kunoichi (female ninja) without forgetting another ninja who was able to obtain the status of Candidate for the post of Hokage: Danzô Shimura. In the event that the Hokage in place dies or is unable to run the village, it is up to the Konoha council and the council of the Daimyô of Fire 🔥 (who governs the Land of Fire) to select a replacement at most. fast. Once the new Candidate for the Position of Hokage has been chosen, it remains for him to be validated by the Jônin of the village. If accepted, he can then access the residence dedicated to the Hokage. Subsequently, a sculpture of his face is made on the Hokage Monument next to those already present on the cliff overlooking the village.
Premier Hokage: Hashirama Senju
Known by the nickname "God of the Shinobi", Hashirama Senju was the first Hokage (Shodai Hokage) of Konoha. He is the big brother of Tobirama Senju who became the Second Hokage (Nidaime Hokage) and also the grandfather of Tsunade (Fifth Hokage - Godaime Hokage). Note that he is also the grandfather of the young genin Nawaki who died the day after his 12th birthday during his first mission due to an explosion. 💥 Leader of the Senju Clan of the forest, He was also one of the founders of the Village in collaboration with Madara of the Uchiha Clan after the two formed an alliance between the two families. However, these two characters have always been great rivals as it is said in the legend "Senju vs. Uchiha". Also during his reign as Hokage, a greatest hits of Hashirama was beating Kyûbi the Demon Fox at Nine Tail 's and Madara Uchiha during their legendary duel in the Valley End. However, it turns out that Madara survived her defeat and was able to take on some of the genetic attributes of the First Hokage, specifically the Mokuton, during this fight. You should know that Hashirama Senju was the first ninja recognized for having been able to master the art of Mokuton (woodworking techniques) thanks to his filiation with his ancestor Asura Ôtsutsuki. After his death, several ninjas tried to acquire this genetic gift, like Danzô Shimura, former head of the Konoha High Council and former leader of Racine, the unofficial branch of Anbu.. He used the experiences of Orochimaru in particular by implanting the DNA of Hashirama Senju in his arms. 💪🏼 There was also Tobi who pretended to be Madara Uchiha and who had Prime Hokage cells in his possession. Note also the case of Yamato, a member of the Anbu special unit in charge of protecting the Kage. When he was a child, he was the result of Orochimaru's experiences with 60 other children and he is the only one who survived the DNA injections of the First Hokage. Yamato therefore found himself now endowed with the skills of the Shodai Hokage. However Hashirama remains the only ninja who had the ability to best handle Mokuton techniques. He is also seen as one of the most powerful ninjas in the Shinobi world. He died during the First Great Shinobi War under unknown circumstances.
Second Hokage: Tobirama Senju
After the death of Hashirama Senju, it was Tobirama Senju, his little brother, who was chosen as the new Hokage (Nidaime Hokage - Second Hokage). he is therefore the great-uncle of Tsunade and Nawaki. It is also important to note that he was the sensei of Hiruzen Sarutobi, the latter having succeeded him under the title of Hokage. Tobirama Senju was the greatest user of the Suiton techniques which appealed to the watery nature of the chakra. It is a question of manipulating the water which is carried on the battlefield or of creating it by modifying its chakra in water 💦 even if this technique is more difficult than the first one. Tobirama is also at the origin of the technique of Multi Cloning and that of Invocation - Reincarnation of Souls (Kuchiyose - Edo Tensei) . The latter was subsequently improved by Orochimaru and Kabuto Yakushi to the point that it would have become the most powerful Ninjutsu technique in the ninja world according to Kabuto. During their tenure, Tobirama Senju and A, the Second Raikage of Kumo, suffered an attempted coup orchestrated by the Silver and Gold Brothers. Note that Tobirama also lost his life during the same First Great Shinobi War, just like his brother.
Third Hokage: Hiruzen Sarutobi
Also nicknamed "God of the Shinobi" when he was young and then "Professor", 👨🏼🏫 Hiruzen Sarutobi was chosen by Tobirama Senju before his death to succeed him as Third Hokage (Sandaime Hokage). He is the son of Sarutobi Sasuke, a legendary Konoha ninja who was part of the Ten Heroes of Sanada and who was in the service of Daimyô Yukimura during the Sengoku era. His wife's name was Biwako Sarutobi and he had two children, one of whom was Asuma Sarutobi, Konoha jônin and member of the Twelve Guardian Ninja group in charge of protecting the Fire Daimyô. He is also the grandfather of Konohamaru Sarutobi, who was nicknamed " Honorable Grandson" by this lineage . Moreover, he has repeatedly challenged 🤼 and tried to defeat his grandfather in order to become the new Hokage, to be recognized for what he is but more like the grandson of the Hokage. Hiruzen Sarutobi was one of the senpai of the two First Hokage along with Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado, the latter also becoming his advisers. Subsequently, he became the Sensei of the three legendary Sannins: Orochimaru, Jiraya and Tsunade . Hiruzen Sarutobi had to resume his duties as Hokage on the day Naruto Uzumaki was born after the Fourth Hokage died prematurely due to Kyûbi's attack on Konoha. It should be noted that the Sandaime Hokage was the only ninja to have mastered all the techniques of Konoha.
Fourth Hokage: Minato Namikaze
After Hiruzen Sarutobi, it was Minato Namikaze who was chosen to be the Fourth Hokage (Yondaime Hokage) and his nickname was the ⚡ Yellow Lightning of Konoha. He was married to Kushina Uzumaki, a kunoichi from Konoha, and they are both parents to Naruto Uzumaki. Minato Namikaze was a student of the legendary Sannin Jiraya, aka the Frog Hermit . He was subsequently the Sensai of Kakashi Hatake (Seventh Hokage), Rin Nohara the Kunoichi physician and Obito Uchiha. Minato is the one who created the Whirling Orb or Rasengan technique. Even if the latter was not complete, he transmitted it to his master Jiraiya. He had also learned various seal techniques (Fûinjutsu) from Clan Uzumaki thanks to the help of his wife. Subsequently, he sacrificed himself during the Kyûbi attack on Konoha using the technique of Imprisonment of the Dead. Thanks to the latter, he was able to seal half of Kuruma's power in his body as well as the other half in that of Naruto, his son. Minato is today considered a legend. Indeed, he is both one of the most talented shinobi and one of the fastest to date. The ninjas who came from enemy villages had even been ordered to flee when they passed him.
Fifth Hokage: Tsunade
Tsunade became the Fifth Hokage (Godaime Hokage) of Konoha taking the place of Hiruzen Sarutobi after the latter's death. Little daughter of Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage, and the only descendant of the Senju Clan, she is one of the Three Legendary Ninjas considered to be the greatest shinobi of their time, namely the Sannin. Before being Hokage, she was already seen as the most powerful kunoichi and the best ninja doctor 👩🏼⚕️ in the Naruto universe. Indeed, Tsunade has a perfect mastery of Medical Ninjutsu , which allows him to heal and heal any type of injury. She also has an enormous amount of chakra and her Taijutsu techniques (unarmed combat and weapon handling) are phenomenal. Note that Tsunade had abandoned the life of a shinobi for many years following the successive deaths of people for whom she had a lot of affection. It was later that she was persuaded to return to Konoha to become the Fifth Hokage. Besides, his abilities were then very useful and valuable for the village of Konoha.
Sixième Hokage: Kakashi Hatake
After Tsunade left her post following the Fourth Great Shinobi War, it was Kakashi Hatake who replaced her as the Sixth Hokage (Rokudaime Hokage). Having lost his mother at a young age, Kakashi was raised by his father, Sakumo Hatake aka White Croc 🦷 of Konoha , who was a high-ranking and renowned shinobi in Konoha. It would even seem that the latter would be even more powerful than the 3 legendary sannins. When he was younger, Kakashi was part of the Minato Namikaze (Fourth Hokage) Team along with medic ninja Rin Nohara and Obito Uchiwa. He then inherited the latter's Sharingan which was dying and which Rin Nohara grafted to him in place of his eye 👁️ lost during the Third Great Ninja War. He is also renowned worldwide for his use of this Sharingan, which has earned him the nickname Ninja Copier . Indeed, throughout his career, he learned a thousand techniques related to his Sharingan. His skills brought him a lot of praise from his comrades, but also influence in Konoha to such an extent that the council wanted to name him Hokage. However, this position never interested Kakashi but he accepted it in the end. Kakashi Hatake was also the mentor of Team 7 (or Team Kakashi) composed of 3 newly promoted genins: the dunce of the class Naruto Uzumaki, the intelligent Sakura Uchiha and the talented ninja Sasuke Uchiha.
Seventh Hokage: Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto Uzumaki is the only son of Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, and Kushina Uzumaki who was the second Jinchûriki of Kyûbi . Since he was little, Naruto always dreamed of becoming a Hokage one day but also of winning the trust and recognition of the inhabitants of Konoha who always rejected him. Indeed, at his birth, his father sealed Kyûbi in his body, which made him the jinchûriki of the Demon-fox 🦊 with Nine Tails while the latter was attacking the village. This event has therefore earned him the mistrust and rejection of the villagers over the years. After joining Team 7, Naruto worked hard to make his dreams come true and, a few years later, he managed to become a hero in the eyes of ninjas not only in Konoha, but also around the world. He even ends up being considered one of the most powerful shinobi of all time by being one of the main players in the Fourth Great Shinobi War. His actions and achievements then allowed him to be chosen as the Seventh Hokage (Nanadaime Hokage) . He married 👩❤️👨 Hinata Hyûga, the eldest daughter of Hiashi Hyûga, chief of the eponymous clan. Naruto is the father of two children, namely the elder Boruto Uzumaki and the second Himawari Uzumaki. DDuring his reign, Konoha grew into a prosperous village with great modern infrastructure thanks to many technological advances.
Who will become the 8th Hokage:
Once Naruto became Seventh Hokage, he therefore achieved his ultimate goal in life and is now a hero 🦸🏼♂️ for the people of Konoha. In addition, as we have seen, he succeeded in developing the village as well as possible. At the beginning of the new franchise Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, all the fans wondered about the continuation of the adventures of Naruto. Many had even theorized his death in the idea of making room for the new generation of Shinobis such as Boruto uzumaki, the son of Naruto, Udon Ise, Moegi Kazamatsuri or Konohamaru Sarutobi. In this lineage, many have also wondered who would become the Eighth Hokage after Naruto. There is a theory supported by several fans which says that it will be K onohamaru Sarutobi who would succeed Naruto as the Eighth Hokage. This hypothesis is based on several points including in particular Konohamaru's filiation with the Sandaime Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, who is his grandfather. Another point is that Konohamaru has always wanted to become a Hokage since he was a child, like Naruto who is otherwise his idol. Indeed, Konohamaru had in the past tried several times to defeat his uncle while he was still Hokage in order to take his place. During an attack, he had even declared to his grandfather: "You are dead, old crouton, the title of Hokage is mine!". According to Hiruzen, in one day, his grandson would have tried to attack him - more than twenty times, to say how much he wanted to become Hokage when he was still just a child. Even after becoming a Jonin instructor, his desire to become a Hokage was still there. Others have also noted the similarities between young Konohamaru and his idol, Naruto. They both had this dream of becoming a Hokage since they were little kids and they also both have affiliations with a former Hokage. But, in addition, Konohamaru is a young ninja without much stature and who needs to improve himself to claim the status of Hokage. Recall briefly that Naruto was the dunce of his team during his training in Kakashi Hatake's team. It is also important to note that Naruto transmitted several of his techniques to Konohamaru which he himself received from Kakashi Hatake, the Sixth Hokage.. He also taught him the Rasengan and, although it was not made clear, some believe that Naruto imparted to him the Will of Fire that was present in all the Hokage who have succeeded one another. Besides, Konohamaru never stopped calling Naruto "Nii-San", which means big brother.
Who is the best Hokage:
We were able to see previously a maximum of details concerning the seven most powerful ninjas who succeeded to date to the title of Hokage in Konoha. Many have wondered who was the best or who was the most powerful among them. In response to this question, the opinions of fans can differ enormously. First of all, we must recognize that each of these Hokage is of extraordinary power. We can especially mention Tsunade, the Fifth Hokage and ninja doctor, 🩺 whose healing abilities are incredible in addition to his mastery of the four forms of chakra (Raiton, Katon, Suiton and Doton) for combat and his great physical strength. We can also cite H ashirama Senju, the First Hokage, who would be the most prestigious Shinobi in the Naruto universe. First of all, he is the initiator of the creation of the village of Konoha, wanting to put an end to the tensions between the clans. He has an above average life force, large amounts of chakra as well as very great physical strength. He is able to perform different techniques with very few hand signs ✌🏼 and master the five elements of the chakra. It's hard to make a list of all of your abilities (healing jutsu, barriers, jumps, regeneration, etc.). But his fame comes mainly from his mastery of Mokuton. However, a large majority agree that Naruto Uzumaki would be the most powerful Hokage, even surpassing Hashirama Senju . Naruto would be superior to the latter and would be the greatest Shinobi the ninja world has ever known to date as it has titanic chakra reserves. This phenomenal amount of chakra comes to him first of all from the fact that he is the Jinchûriki of Kyûbi, but also of the eight other Bijû 🐲 during the Fourth Great Shinobi War. Naruto can thus excel in each of his skills. We can add to this his heritage from the Uzumaki clan which gives him incredible endurance and faster regeneration, even instantaneous thanks to the Kyûbi chakra. Its techniques such as multi-cloning are so advanced that it is capable of producing a thousand clones simultaneously. He has a perfect mastery of Rasengan to the point of having created a variant, the Rasenshuriken. Naruto is also able to leave his Hermit mode active at all times as if it were natural to him or to use the Hermit Rikûdo mode , which gives him the possibility of tapping into the Bijû chakra. Note also that he perfectly masters his Bijû mode to such an extent that he can become the very incarnation of his Demon. 😈 Finally, by becoming Hokage, Naruto became wiser and thoughtful, always ready to question himself and only seeking the prosperity of Konoha since he considers each inhabitant as a member of his family.
Become a Hokage too:
Becoming a Hokage takes on great responsibilities, but also brings its share of prestige to the point that many ninjas wanted to become Hokage from a young age, like Naruto or Konohamaru. However, to earn this title, you have to be an exceptional Shinobi or become one through hard work 👷🏼♂️ and effort. If you too are ready to work hard, you can claim the status of Hokage and bring to the village of Konoha all your know-how to defend it and make it prosper.
