I finally opened the fancy Greek cheese I found discounted (because nobody bought it, it seems… a lot of imported stuff meets this fate here, especially if it's packaged outside of Saudi Arabia, so the text is all in a foreign language aside from a small sticker in Arabic, often on the back! ^^;;), the smell of the olive oil and herbs was so rich and pleasant! I ate it with some flat bread (white bread, it came with a restaurant meal, they always give me bread I never end up eating with the meals, fff) and a boiled egg.

It was delicious!

I also bought a bunch of fruits on the way back from a life-saving case, asked the driver to drop me off next to the fruit and vegetable store a few blocks away, so I could walk my way back. ^^

When we were done with the life-saving case, by the way, I also ate a little shawarma sandwich from a place I never tried before and it's so charming! It's called Shawarma Jaleelah (Jaleelah's Shawarma, Jaleelah being a woman's name meaning "venerable" or "honourable") and the shawarma was wrapped in what resembled a newspaper! I thought they were just being thrifty and retro, but when I looked closer, it was actually covered in old ads from the fifties, along with a little introduction to Jaleelah.

Jaleelah was a woman who set a waqf (a sort of public service charity) as a place of rest for travellers on the way to Makkah, passing through Riyadh and also to give them with food and supplies for their journey. The waqf then was called Khan. So, she became Khan Jaleelah. Word spread about it and the pronunciation shifted to Khnshalillah. The district towards the south of modern day Riyadh became known as Khnshalillah after this woman. ^^

I carefully kept the wrapper so I could take a picture to show my dad, I was especially amazed by a Tesla radio (no relation to Musk, aha!) being advertised as a new 1955 model... it's older than my dad!

My dad enjoyed the ads, they were very nostalgic to him. ^^ He remembered the glass cola bottles and the Gillette razors.

Availability: Released November 24, 2020 on Amazon (based on the Pureeeni Facebook page, which was set up earlier that same day). It is no longer available.

About: The packaging for the Hey Kitty is a pretty shameless ripoff of the packaging of the officially licensed 2020 Hello Kitty Tamagotchi.

Above is a direct comparison between the two (h/t to @bootlegpals for the Hey Kitty box; they have a whole post on this knockoff here). The packaging is almost the same, except for the replaced header/logo section, generic Kitty wearing a green bow, and green bow replacing the red bow in the upper right hand corner.

The case of the Hey Kitty is also clearly ripped from the Hello Kitty tama. The generic green-bow kitty replaces Hello Kitty at the top, the scale and positioning of the pixel art images are off compared to the real version. Some pixel art images have been replaced. For example, a Space Invader sprite replaces a bumblebee. The product image and the video from their Amazon (posted below) both show that the gameplay is just the Bunny ROM. According to an Amazon review from Saudi Arabia, the screen is super low-quality and forms bubbles.

FINAL REPORT / DESIGN THINKING I

OVERVIEW

DISCRIPTION :

No matter where we live, in a small neighbourhood or in a metropolis we are all faced daily with renewed infrastructure (buildings under renovation or abandoned ones). The fact is that however good aesthetic temporary solutions have been found for the purpose of mimicry and adaptation to urban planning such as rigid surrounding structures, with images demonstrating how the site would look in its finished form or removable textile coverings of sites under construction.

But they still remain as isolated and dysfunctional islands that do not hold attention for more than a few minutes. This problem could find its modern and functional solution,(including the human factor in the final result) by looking for the relationship between the surrounding environment and art/design in a modern aspect. After an investigation it became clear that many good proposals were made to renew the urban environment by linked with the classical art /or contemporary design and street art.

OBJECTIVES :

There is a group of people who struggle to solve a design problem of how to transform ‘unusable’ urban fields (construction sites, old facades, abandoned houses) into thematically and locally appropriate art spaces ( for graffiti, murals, photography, crafts...) ie. in temporary outdoor art scenes, as part of their Design Thinking module. ‘HAPPY SPACES’ is the project they are working on. Each of them should find such a place in their own city/neighbourhood in different parts of the world: UK, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Sweden, and try to give an idea of turning it into an inspiring scene of contemporary urban art.

OUR INTENTION :

-Application of contemporary artistic ideas for transformation on urban construction sites, old facades or abandoned buildings. 

-Telling different (yet the same) impactful urban stories in different parts of the world. -This, in our view, would lead to: *uniqueness,

*aesthetic impact,

*diversity and avoidance of uniformity;

*creation of unique platforms for the performance of a number of artists (ie mutual connection and promotion of the human factor);

*and there would be relatively easy implementation applicability.
