𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐑: 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐞 SUMMARY: First (official) Date! Ice to Meet You Masterlist Previous | Next
Word Count: 2.6k Warnings: Swearing, A brief mention on Mila's thoughts about food, there's a dirty joke in there somewhere
Nico’s hand rests casually on her thigh as he drives them off to wherever, his thumb absentmindedly stroking her skin. The warmth of his touch isn’t unwelcome; it’s comforting, actually. Mila places her hand over his, playing with his fingers while they make idle conversation over the hum of a Top 40 hit on the radio. They talk about anything and everything, steering clear of skating and hockey.
They rate the songs playing on a scale of 1 to 10, argue over the merits of some pop star’s latest single, and dive into obscure trivia about stoplights—Mila going on a tangent about their history and evolution.
They crack up when a driver rudely cuts Nico off, quickly spinning an elaborate, and not very flattering, backstory for the offending driver (spoiler: it doesn’t end well for him). According to them, he’s running late for a first date that’s doomed to end in disaster, probably because he’s terrible at reading directions and missed the date entirely! Unfortunately, that date was with his soulmate. Poor him.
She learns a lot of things about Nico at this time. He’s chatty, is the first. Despite what he thinks—and how calm he always seems to be—he has a lot of thoughts going on in his head. And a lot more to say about them. Maybe it’s because he spends so much of his life listening that he doesn’t always get a chance to share.
He’s also a secret hater. Don’t let his cute face fool you. For someone who seemed so laidback, he sure had no problem letting loose on things he dislikes—definitely didn’t hold back one bit while sharing his thoughts on the driver who cut him off. His mini-rant was especially passionate; road safety was apparently a topic he knew a lot of specifics about. She finds it endearing.
She learns that he runs hot. His hand on her thigh feels like a personal heater, soothing her skin against the cool blast of the air conditioning filling the car.
When the car finally pulls to a stop, Nico hops out and comes around to her side, taking her hand to lead her down the street. It’s a lively scene, the streets of New Jersey filled with the sounds of bustling cafes, bars, and karaoke joints. Neon signs light up the night, casting a glow over the sidewalks.
Mila’s brows shoot up when they stop in front of one particular building. The neon sign is unfamiliar, but the sounds emanating from inside—faux gunfire, the beeping of arcade machines—are unmistakable.
“Nico, you did not,” she says, eyes wide with disbelief.
He grins, looking far too proud of himself. “I told you I’d take you here!” His excitement is contagious, his smile matching the one that spreads across her face.
As they step inside, Mila’s a little overwhelmed by the flashing lights and dissonance of sound. But thankfully, there’s no overwhelming crowd tonight. Her excitement bubbles up, and she takes a moment to appreciate the sights: retro game booths, ticket dispensers, and the faint smell of buttered popcorn.
Nico leads her over to a concession stand, where they’re greeted by the sight of hotdogs, burgers, sodas, and oversized pretzels. Mila spots pizza on the menu and almost considers ordering a slice before a nagging thought creeps in—her diet. She’s been letting herself indulge too much—especially in the latter half of the season— letting herself go out to bars and eat all kinds of foods she normally wouldn’t touch. Maybe that’s why her win at Worlds wasn’t as clean as she’d wanted.
But she shakes the thought from her head. It’s the off-season. She’s earned this. She won. She can let herself deserve this. Besides, the thought of sharing a couple greasy slices of pizza with Nico wasn’t all that bad.

They found a secluded little corner in the arcade, just far enough from the noise to talk comfortably. As they ate, Nico entertained her with stories from his childhood—how he and his siblings would compete in arcades, determined to win the most tickets and score the best prize at the checkout counter. Mila listened in fascination, amused by the idea of earning rewards for arcade games.
“Give me a couple of trips here and I’ll win you a big one,” Nico said, his voice full of playful confidence.
“Oh yeah?” She raised an eyebrow, smirking. “You think you can get me the big bear?”
“I’ll get you the biggest one they’ve got,” he laughed. “It can replace your bed.”
“Oh, my hero!” Mila responded with a dramatic flourish, raising a hand to her forehead like a damsel in distress. “Marry me right now,” she teased, eyes sparkling with amusement.
Nico nearly choked on his soda, caught off guard, which only made Mila laugh harder.
Two burgers, two large sodas, three pizza slices, and a cotton candy later, they’re ready to hit the games. Tokens jingling in their pockets, Nico led her to what he called an ‘easy’ game.
It turned out to be a two-player shooting game where they had to fend off waves of zombies. There’s a vague plotline and backstory, but she’s barely able to pay attention—too focused on Nico guiding her through the controls, his hands gently positioning hers on the gun. How could she possibly focus on anything else?
When the game starts, she’s focused—her competitive streak coming out. Maybe it was an athlete thing. It doesn’t take long for her to realize, though, that she wasn’t great at this. Scratch that, she was absolute shit. She’s lost count of how many tokens Nico used just to revive her. He, on the other hand, seemed like a pro, racking up points effortlessly while she struggled to keep up.
When the game finally ended, Nico did a little celebration, pumping his fist in the air as the final scores were revealed.
He grinned at her, clearly proud of his performance. “Easy, right?”
“Sooo easy,” Mila teased, rolling her eyes. “In fact, it was so easy that I lost by only...” She glanced at the screen and let out a laugh. “8,000 points!”
They both burst out laughing, Nico pulling her into a light hug, his arm resting around her waist. “You did great.”
“Flatterer,” she shot back with a smile.
“Is it working?” He smirked, his voice low.
Mila stepped out of his grasp, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “That’s a secret,” she tossed over her shoulder as she scanned the room for their next challenge. She wasn’t planning on losing again.
૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა ♡ ૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა
“Are you sure about this?” Nico asks, amusement dancing in his eyes. “You want to challenge a hockey player to a game of Air Hockey?”
“It’s not real hockey, hun.” Mila crosses her arms, her lips curling into a smug smile. “Don’t get too confident. I could be an Air Hockey prodigy for all you know.”
“Yeah, sure,” he teases, his grin widening. “Let’s see about that.”
Turns out, Mila might actually be a prodigy at Air Hockey. They’ve played for nearly four minutes now, dangerously close to the five minute time limit, and Nico’s only gotten one goal in. Mila has two goals. They attack and defend vigorously, as though this were an actual Air Hockey tournament. The buzzer hits. Mila wins.
As it turns out, Mila might actually be an Air Hockey prodigy. They’re nearly four minutes in, dangerously close to the five-minute game limit, and Nico’s only managed to score once. Meanwhile, Mila has racked up two goals, and she’s on fire, darting around the table with laser focus. They attack and defend vigorously, as though this were a real championship match. The game reaches its buzzer, signaling the end—and Mila wins.
She jumps up in victory, her excitement overflowing as she practically bounces over to Nico, her grin bright enough to light up the entire arcade.
“Okay, okay,” he laughs, holding up his hands in surrender. “I’ll admit it—you’re definitely a prodigy at this.”
Mila looks up at him, narrowing her eyes playfully. “You didn’t let me win, did you?”
Nico raises an eyebrow, his expression soft but teasing. “Oh, Schatz,” he drawls, the German rolling off his tongue, “If I wanted to let you win, I wouldn’t have scored at all.” His eyes sparkle with something Mila can’t quite place, making the moment feel electric.
Mila arches an eyebrow, matching his teasing tone. “Are you sure? I mean, you barely scored,” she fires back, her grin widening.
Nico chuckles, the sound deep and warm. He steps closer, closing the gap between them, his gaze locked on hers. “You’re just full of surprises tonight, aren’t you?”
She shrugs, trying to keep the playful edge in her voice, though she can’t quite ignore the way her heart skips. “I like to keep people on their toes. It’s part of the charm.”
“Yeah?” His eyes flicker down to her lips for a brief second before meeting her gaze again, his voice softening. “It’s definitely working.”
For a moment, they just stand there, the noise of the arcade fading into the background as the air between them grows heavier. Mila can feel the slight heat coming off of him, the closeness of his body and the teasing look in his eyes making the space around them feel smaller, more intimate.
She clears her throat, regaining her composure and breaking the tension with a smirk. “Are we here to play or flirt?”
Nico’s wide grin returns, his hand brushing her arm. “Can’t it be both?”
Mila lets out a laugh, rolling her eyes. “You wish.”
૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა ♡ ૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა
They go through each of the arcade games, and to Mila’s dismay, Nico beats her at every single one—from racing games to mini bowling. He shows absolutely no remorse, crushing her by a mile. But she doesn’t mind, not when it means she gets to hear his teasing voice and feel his arms pulling her into warm embraces, comforting words slipping easily from his lips. Oh yeah, his lips—definitely something Mila finds herself glancing at more than once throughout the night. She’s certain he notices. After all, there was that spark earlier, right after Air Hockey. It hasn’t faded.
Their last stop of the night is Dance Dance Revolution. Mila rolls her shoulders, feeling confident. This, she’s sure, is where she’ll finally win. She didn’t spend years at dance lessons to not win it right?
“You’re going to eat shit with this one,” she teases, flashing him a cocky grin. “I used to dance. I actually trained for this.”
“I’m pretty sure I said something similar during Air Hockey,” Nico laughs, shaking his head. “And look how that turned out for me.”
“Oh, hush. Let’s dance.”
The music kicks in, starting slow but quickly picking up tempo as the arrows start flooding the screen. Mila, with her dancer’s reflexes, moves swiftly, her feet tapping in perfect rhythm. She glances over at Nico, who is… struggling, to say the least. Their eyes meet for a moment and she catches a playful glint in his eyes.
Before she can react, Nico reaches over, grabs her by the waist, and lifts her clean off the dance pad.
“Nico!” she shrieks, laughing as he spins her around, disrupting both of their games. “You cheater!”
“It’s more fun this way,” he says, grinning up at her as he swings her playfully. “Now we both lose!”
She laughs uncontrollably as he bounces her in his arms, effortlessly manhandling her. The dance game is long forgotten. Now, she’s just enjoying the moment. And when the song finally ends, Nico holds her just a second longer. Their eyes meet again, and under the neon lights, with the flashing game screens in the background, Mila can’t help but think how beautiful he is. He was beautiful at the bar. He was beautiful at the cafe, at the park. And he’s beautiful now, underneath the neon lights in this chaotic, colorful arcade.
Gently, he sets her down, and they both turn to the screen to see the results.
Nico glances at her, his lips pulling into a smirk. “I win.”
૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა ♡ ૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა
The ride back to Mila’s apartment is filled with laughter as they recount their adventures at the arcade. No event is left untouched, from Nico’s blunder at Air Hockey to Mila’s countless brutal losses.
The ride back to Mila’s apartment is filled with laughter as they recount their night at the arcade. No detail goes untouched—from Nico’s fumble during Air Hockey to Mila’s endless string of losses across almost every game.
“We should’ve gone to the photobooth!” Mila exclaims as Nico pulls up in front of her building. “We have to do this again!”
“I don’t know…” Nico teases, his hand resting on her thigh, his thumb tracing light circles. “Think you can handle losing that many times again?”
She scoffs dramatically. “Excuse me, I was a very gracious winner!”
He laughs, shaking his head. “And that’s why I had to comfort you after every loss?”
“You did that because you wanted to,” she smirks, her voice dripping with playful challenge.
He chuckles, the warmth in his gaze making her heart skip a beat. The conversation trails off for a moment, leaving only the soft sound of the radio filling the car. Then, Nico asks, his tone playful but curious, “So, how do you usually end your first dates?”
Mila can’t help but laugh, her mind immediately running wild with possibilities—none of which she can say out loud.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” she teases, her voice flirtatious.
He scrunches his nose in mock disgust. “You know what? Never mind. I don’t think I want to know anymore.”
“I didn’t even say anything!” She laughs harder, the amusement bubbling up from her chest.
“Your brain is loud,” he says, grinning as he steps out of the car to open her door. “I can hear your thoughts from over here.”
As they walk toward the entrance of her building, Nico’s teasing fades, replaced by something softer. “Don’t get me wrong,” he says, his voice quieter now, “I want to. I just… I want to do it right.”
That catches her off guard, her heart fluttering at the sincerity in his words. It wasn’t a grand romantic gesture, but something about it felt more genuine. Like he saw her as more than just a fleeting moment. Like he saw her as a girl he actually wanted to know—not just for tonight but beyond it.
When they reach the large double doors of her building, she turns to face him, the soft glow from the streetlights casting a warm hue over them. Without thinking, she reaches up on tiptoe, her hand gently cupping his cheek as she presses a soft kiss to his skin.
“Thank you for tonight,” she murmurs, her voice just above a whisper. She’s aware her face is flushed, but she doesn’t mind. She’s too caught up in the sweetness of the moment.
Nico’s eyes soften as he gazes down at her, something unspoken passing between them. “Goodnight, Mila,” he says, his voice equally tender.
“Goodnight,” she replies, her smile lingering as she turns to go inside, already thinking about the next time she’ll see him.
૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა ♡ ૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა
Mila’s getting ready for bed, still basking in the warmth and joy of the night, when her phone rings. Without thinking, she grabs it, pressing the answer button before even checking the caller ID. A part of her hopes it’s Nico, or maybe one of her friends, eager to keep the night’s energy alive. But it’s neither.
“Milana.”
The voice that comes through is cold, sharp—her mother. The familiar chill of disapproval immediately creeps in. Every syllable is clipped, dripping with the same harshness Mila has come to expect. It’s a very special tone that’s reserved for her—her mother’s greatest disappointment.
“What is this I’m hearing about you taking a leave of absence?”
Fuck.

I have never seen a home w/so many different styles as this 1997 mansion in Olympia Fields, Illinois. 7bds, 12.5ba, $3.499M. Clearly, they couldn't settle on one house design. The once-decaying property was brought back to life by the late Rudolph Isley of the The Isley Brothers, and his wife, Elaine. Check it out.
They've tried to mix rustic lodge with very contemporary and provincial styles- looks like maybe the couple's tastes clashed and this is the architectural compromise that resulted.
It begins with a modern rustic look great room with contemporary decor. I do like the idea of a red & white color scheme. Look, even the black keys on the piano are red. (I guess money can buy anything.)
Modern office with a Baroque style desk.
This is different. The modern kitchen has a HUGE fancy French dining set for 20. Look at the size of the chandelier. The coffered ceiling is rustic. These compromises are way too much.
Log cabin style sunroom.
These rooms are too plain for such fancy furniture. It doesn't look right. Put up some wainscoting, a fireplace, something.
The primary bedroom is disappointing. Rustic fireplace, red carpet and gray furniture.
The en-suite has a modern stone / log cabin feature wall. It has such conflicting styles with starkly plain walls and floors.
This Pirates of the Caribbean pool room is amazing, though.
Look at the little shack, waterfall, and treehouse.
Love this so much. Look at the lighting, too. I would buy it for this, alone.
And, then we go to a huge brick man cave with a fireplace and kitchen area.
Then, we go to an octagonal log cabin room. They have the same Bose stereo I have, on the fireplace (haven't used it in ages b/c it plays CDs).
This is the huge bedroom of a Bulls fan with an en-suite behind an open wall.
And, here's a bedroom with a giraffe theme, but the only indication of that is some wallpaper.
And, another family room.
The home gym walled in glass.
This home disturbs me. A room that looks like a basement- no windows. One fancy bed and carpet, plus a modern side table and armoire in sterile & stark white room.
And, then it switches to retro diner in the 2nd kitchen. I do love these appliances, though. At least put up some Coca Cola signs, neon, or some retro decor.
The home theater needs some dark wallpaper and a black ceiling w/at least a popcorn machine. This home is too minimalist. I hope that a new buyer will spruce up the decor.
The carpeted garage.
Basketball court.
The lot is 3.7 acres and includes a private pond.

The Song Stuck In My Head
Late, but I'm determined to keep going with Futuristic Four Week. Prompt 2 was Role Swap, so please take this offering of time traveler!Hiro, actor!Wilbur, superhero!Penny, and scientist!Violet. I just want to get this posted so this is rushed and wildly unedited; I might clean it up before posting to ao3.
Summary: Something is wrong with the timeline. Gen/friendship, drama, mention of injuries but nothing super graphic.
Hiro’s hands shook, but he gulped in a deep breath and forced them steady. He couldn’t afford to spill any fuel.
He only had enough for one jump left as it was. If he ran out mid-travel…
Well, one way or another, he wasn’t redoing this.
He finished loading in the fuel, triple-checked that he had everything packed, quadruple-checked he had the right coordinates punched in, and drew in another deep breath.
A photo beamed at him from the dashboard: an old-fashioned polaroid, faded and crumpled now, the faces of the four kids in it starting to blur. The energy from repeated jumps was corroding the film. Sometimes it felt like it was doing the same to Hiro’s memory.
He pushed activate.
~
Flash!
Wilbur grinned into the light bursting across his face. He waved, paused for another storm of flashes, and kept weaving through the crowd. Flash—flash—flash; it seemed to take forever for him to reach the sanctuary of a bathroom.
Thankfully, it was empty. Wilbur exhaled hard and leaned on the sink. Looking up, he saw his reflection staring back at him. He was still grinning widely.
He shook his head like a dog shaking off water, grin dissolving somewhere along the way.
“Come on, Wilbur, keep it together,” he told himself.
He didn’t know why he felt so off tonight; premieres were easy. No acting to do except act like a cool, handsome TV star, and that Wilbur Robinson didn’t have to fake. Smile and wave and make sure to be seen by all the cameras, and don’t say anything rude to anyone. Easy peasy.
He was just…tired of events right now. He’d just come off a flurry of interviews to promote the new season, and now had bunch of premiers to attend (movies from the same studio they wanted to drum up publicity for), and after that they were jumping right back into filming for next season—Wilbur couldn’t remember the last time he’d been home.
One of his family members was always with him during shoots, of course, and he called the rest regularly, but it wasn’t the same. And just hanging out at the mall or park or chargeball court with friends seemed like a dream anymore.
For a moment, it really did seem like a dream. The mirror in front of him shimmered, and instead of pretentious tile, he saw funkily patterned carpet and neon lighting. A retro-style arcade, a Japanese boy with a robot hoodie leaning against a pinball machine, the redheaded girl playing scolding him not to make it tilt, mouth moving silently across the glass while the boy laughed just as silently, and the black-haired girl walking up to them with bags of gummy frogs and popcorn turned and looked back at—
Wilbur was standing in a glitzy bathroom staring at his own reflection. He felt dizzy for a moment, and then he had a headache, but by the time he rubbed at his temples, it had already gone.
“What the—”
He tapped the mirror. A second later he looked frantically around, but luckily the bathroom was still empty.
“Okay, I think that’s enough soda for one night. There’s no way I actually…”
Actually saw…he’d seen something right? He couldn’t remember what he’d thought was so strange about the mirror now.
Shrugging, Wilbur splashed some water on his face, checked his hair was perfect (it was, of course), and went back to rejoin the paparazzi party.
~
Penny climbed in her window and closed it as quietly as she could. It was harder than usual; her shoulder throbbed angrily. Peeling off her supersuit, she saw a nasty purple-black splotch across her upper arm.
She groaned—quietly; her mom did not need to know Penny was sneaking out to fight supervillains—and dug around for the first aid kit she kept under her bed. Crouching down and stretching out her arm didn’t play nicely with her tired body, and she teetered. A wave of vertigo swept her.
She fell, and while she fell her hands rubbed antiseptic into a cut on a girl’s arm, serious scarlet-and-black supersuit tied about her waist to reveal a cheery bubblegum pink tank top and a circus of bruises across her skin.
“Ow,” yelped one of the boys beside her, the one in the purple armor, as the one with hair like a black cockatoo’s crest tried to pull the armor off without jostling the other’s sprained wrist.
“This is exactly why you need our help,” complained the crested boy. “If you let us fight with you, you wouldn’t come home all banged up.”
“You don’t have any powers.” The armored boy shook his head. “It isn’t safe.”
“Neither do you!”
“I have genius intelligence and high-tech armor.”
“So why can’t you make us armor?” Penny asked.
“Do you really want to go through this every day?” the girl said, gesturing at her scraped up arm, as sarcastic as she was kind. “You two should—”
And then Penny slammed onto her bedroom floor, breathless and stinging with rugburn.
She just lay there, her shoulder aching and her eyes watering, but a moment later she realized her mom might have heard the thump and come to check on her. She grabbed the first aid kit and jumped under the covers with it.
When fifteen minutes had passed with no sign of her mom, Penny decided she was safe, and climbed out of bed again.
It took a bit of willpower; her bed was soft and she just wanted to go to sleep. She wasted no time changing fully out of her costume and into pajamas. Something flicked inside her head as she opened the first aid kit, pressed against the inside of her skull as she scrubbed dirt from her skinned palms and raw knuckles.
Crime-fighting would be so much easier in a team, she thought—and then was struck by how familiar the question was, like she’d asked it a dozen times before. Whatever it was pressed harder against Penny’s thoughts.
She almost had enough energy let to be curious about it. But the feeling came with a sense of vertigo, and she’d already fallen enough tonight. She shook her head, and was surprised to find her eyes wet; they shouldn’t still be stinging from her fall. She wiped them and pulled out ointment for her aching shoulder. A thought tried very hard to get into her head as she rubbed the ointment into her arm, but it wouldn’t come clear, and she was too tired to chase it. Maybe it wasn’t a thought at all, only exhaustion.
Shoving the first aid kit back under the bed, Penny climbed back under the covers. This time, she didn’t fight her weariness.
~
Violet rubbed her eyes, then looked at her worksheet again. The numbers refused to come clear. She glared at them.
“Oh, sure,” she mocked her past self. “I’ll just do a quick little investigation into the weird readings, even though Mr. Harrington told me it was just the sensors glitching. How long could it take? It’s not like being a teenager in college is hard enough.”
She sank back in her seat and sighed in frustration.
The thing was, the sensors were getting weird readings. And these weren’t the local weather station’s thermometer and windsock. These were state of the art pieces of equipment from a college science department—and a pretty good college, too; Violet’s scholarship afforded her that. Atmospheric pressure, gravitational shifts, a dozen other things that shouldn’t all be interconnected but were, somehow, in some pattern Violet could not figure out: they all said something was strange about the world.
Violet was pretty sure they said something was wrong.
But she couldn’t prove it, and if she didn’t do her actual homework, she was going to flunk right out of her scholarship. Shoving her hair angrily back from her face, she turned to grab her calculus notebook.
The cover shifted as she reached for it. It shook again, and again, harder each time, and then it flew open. The pages flipped past at high speed and the papers she had shoved inside it went flying. Violet shrieked and grabbed for them, but the whole room was suddenly filled with papers and empty chip bags and clothes and everything else light enough to be swept up by the wind buffeting the walls. Violet leapt for the window only to slam into cold glass; it was already closed. She whirled and stared at the room, clinging to the windowsill.
There was a flash of light—a deafening silence that left her ears ringing. And then everything was still. Lying on the floor in the middle of the room, where the chaos had been worst, was a small, metal object.
Violet walked over cautiously, waiting any moment for the laws of physics to go haywire again. They didn’t. She crouched down and peered at the object. It looked a little like a cellphone, and a lot like a prop from an old sci-fi TV show, assuming that prop had spent the last few decades being dropped and tossed in basements and dug out by kids who repaired it with duct tape and aluminum foil so they could use it to play space invaders. The cracked screen was blank and dark.
“You better not be giving off radiation,” Violet muttered, and picked it up.
The screen flickered to life.
“…ome in…nny? Wilbur? Anyo…Guys, if you’re there, please come in.”
Violet yelped and almost dropped the whatever-it-was (a communicator, apparently).
“Hello?” The crackly, compressed voice came again. “Is someone there? Hold on—”
The static covering the screen jerked, wavered into a different pattern of static, jerked again, and cleared enough for Violet to see a boy her own age looking out. He had either ash or a bruise smudged over his cheek, and around him Violet saw glimpses of tangled wires and control panels askew in their settings in…what? A machine? A lab? Wavering, distorted images moved nauseatingly on a glass panel behind the boy’s head.
He looked up from whatever buttons he was worrying over and at the screen with a rather desperate expression. His entire face lit up.
“Violet?” He laughed in disbelief, then whooped, pumping his fist in the air and directly into the glass overhead; it must be a dome, because the entire thing bonged ominously. He flinched away, looking fearfully at it, but nothing happened. He shook his hand. “Ow… Violet, are you okay?”
“Who are you, and how do you know my name?”
He stared, and then his frantic look came back.
“No, no, you have to know me. It wasn’t supposed to be this long—you should still remember—”
“Remember what? Who are you?”
The boy looked at her, and for a moment she thought he might cry. She was left breathless at how much it hurt. Something inside her sat up and whispered inaudibly along as the boy said:
“Hiro. I’m Hiro Hamada. I’m your friend.”
“I’ve never met you before.”
“But you should have; don’t you get it?” Violet just stared at him. He shoved his hands into his hair. “We’re best friends—us and Wilbur and Penny. But something happened, and now everything’s wrong.”
He stopped to draw in a breath. This was Violet’s chance to tell him whatever he was mixed up sounded dangerous, and if he kept stalking her, she was going to call the police. And then turn off the communicator. But he looked so upset, and the communicator had appeared in her room in the middle of indoor storm. And something was wrong. She knew it was.
Hiro was the first person who’d believed her.
She sat on her bed and tightened her grip on the communicator.
“What do you mean, ‘wrong’?” she asked.
“I don’t know exactly.” Hiro gestured in frustration. “I think the timeline got changed. I just keep getting weird readings on everything, but I don’t know what they mean! I think maybe time travel’s not actually my field, so I don’t really know what I’m doing. Except I don’t know how I know that, and—”
“What’s the tensile strength of steel?” Violet blurted.
“Uh—” Hiro blinked at her. “It’s, it’s not a constant. It depends on the grade of the steel and thickness of your material. You want to consider yield strength and elongation percentage, too, so depending on what you’re building…”
He trailed off, then drew in an uneven breath. He looked at Violet with wide eyes. She looked back with a hammering heart.
“Let’s not go off in a spiral,” she said, snarky tone rather shaky.
“How did you know to do that?” Hiro asked.
Violet shook her head.
“I don’t know.”
They stared at each other for a moment, and then she watched determination spark in Hiro’s eyes.
“Something’s wrong with the timeline, and now I have to put it right. We have to put it right.”
“Who’s we?” Violet asked, even though part of her felt she already knew, lost names on the tip of her tongue…
“You and me, Wilbur, and Penny. I—” Hiro suddenly looked sheepish. “I don’t really know who they are, or you. But the anomalies all center around the four of us, so either we did something in the original timeline, or someone else was messing with time travel and we’re involved. Does that makes sense?”
“None of this makes sense.” Violet’s head was spinning. “How do you even fix a broken timeline?”
“I think we can if we put things back the way they were. There are rules about time travel—key events? I’m kinda guessing here. I was hoping you’d know.”
“I don’t know.” Violet hesitated. “Maybe one of the others does.”
“You see what I’m dealing with?” Hiro cried. “I know things, but I don’t know how I know. I definitely think one of you knows more about time travel than I do. I was trying to fix things, but I messed up. The last jump stranded me…whenever this is, and now I don’t have enough fuel to get out. I barely managed to get the comm out.” He looked around at the swirling colors. “I think I’m between whenevers, actually.”
Violet realized the wavering scenes weren’t on the glass, but behind it. A shiver of horror went down her back.
“Is there anything you can do?”
Hiro looked back at her, and the fear in his face softened away again. He grinned at her.
“I have a plan. But I need your help—Wilbur and Penny, too, if we can find them.”
Violet hesitated again. This was insane. And if it wasn’t insane it was wildly dangerous, not just to her but potentially to the entire world—the entire time-space continuum. But she liked Hiro’s grin. She felt like she could take on the world with that grin at her side. Maybe the four of them had, in the old timeline.
“I’m going to be grounded for a decade if we destroy the universe, you know,” she said. “What do you need me to do?”

● You simp (*σ´ェ`)σ❤️
● Buddy with those two kids running around, you'd think he goes to bed early to rest up, but ohohohohohohoe.
● He needs to stay up all fuckin night to make sure they don't wet their beds 😭
● Of course he obviously does not have bags under his eyes in the manga nor anime, he still gets adequate sleep- it's just all over the place, and he may be just about 15 minutes late for his first period class every now and then
● So he *tried* to use horror movies to keep himself up, but he ended up scaring Mana, who wandered into the living room at one in the morning, with that technique. So now, he's sitting in the pitch dark living room of his apartment while his mom runs an early morning/late night shift, brainlessly eating popcorn as he does his homework (to catch up on his first hour, which he may miss some things in due to possibly falling asleep from now and then in that class) with fucking Sanrio shows playing on the TV in front of him. Bright ass pastels on a retro awful looking ass TV screen filter with the volume at like 12
● Yall think he's the sane one of TR, h a h
● When he actually manages to get some sleep, he gives zero fucks less about how he is, how gar off the bed he is, how much he needs to pee, the temperature, 3am munchies, that assignment sitting on the corner of his desk, NAH. All of it goes straight to hell when he hits the lights, slips off his shirt, and dives straight under the covers.
● On most days he'll just flop onto the bed and roll over to the other side like once, only once in the middle of the night
● Please he's so tired, stop the bullshit and raise awareness of Mommitsuya Appreciation Week (ToT)
● Dead tired, you can see the pure effort and exhaustion in his tired silver lashes as he just snoozes away
● Snores, but honestly it's tolerable
● Just let the boy sleep (TvT)
● MANA QUIT THROWING THE TEDDY BEAR MITSUYA MADE FOR YOU AT YOUR DAMN SISTER
● ..Luna put the toilet plunger away- GODFUCKING DAMNIT THIS IS A HATE CRIME-
● Just avoid remembering Mitsuya's existence at 3am for yours and his best
𝓗𝓪𝓻𝓾𝓴𝓲 (𝓟𝓪𝓱-𝓒𝓱𝓲𝓷) 𝓗𝓪𝔂𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓭𝓪
● Bear-Man
● He just lifts himself up to sit in the corner of his bed, collapses under the giant heavy ass comforters, and snores like a meme
● He feels like he's on fire while he's asleep, so he'll stick out a foot from under the blankets
● 𝓟𝓪𝓱-𝓒𝓱𝓲𝓷 𝓪𝓼 𝓣𝓸𝓴𝔂𝓸 𝓡𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓷𝓰𝓮𝓻'𝓼 𝓶𝓸𝓼𝓽 𝓾𝓷𝓭𝓮𝓻𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓭 𝓹𝓼𝔂𝓬𝓱𝓸𝓹𝓪𝓽𝓱?
● (I said that forgetting about the beginning of the anime lmao)
● Sleep talks but no one can hear it and it wouldn't make sense anyways
● He's really not afraid of anything grabbing him cause he's like "Well then let's see the bastard drag me away"
● I feel liiiike he's got a weighted blanket, 3 pillows, and a sleeping mask lmao
● He really seems like the guy to have an intense facial care routine before bed and bitch about not getting beauty sleep.
● Who's gonna break it to him-
● From 9 to 11. He sleeps. 14 hours.
● AND IF HIS WHITE NOISE MACHINE AINT PLAYIN RAIN HE AINT GOIN TO BED HES GONNA CREATE ANARCHY (oh please)
● He's always burning up in his sleep, but refuses to do anything about it.
● He sweats gallons, but is so dry- it doesn't make any sense- 😟
● He's pretty hard to wake up, but if the lights change at all in the room he's sleeping? Immediately up and Karen pterodactyl screaming
● Window is always cracked about 2 centimeters. It's broken.
● You can just like feel his body vibrate each time he snores lmao
● Very great cuddly buddy tho :> (Just raise your feet up so they aren't scratched by them toe nails-)
𝓡𝔂𝓸𝓱𝓮𝓲 (𝓟𝓮𝓱-𝓨𝓪𝓷) 𝓗𝓪𝔂𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓲
● I truly don't know what it is with this stick bug lookin crooked neck motherfucker and attracting bugs in his sleep
● AND HE TWISTS HIMSELF LIKE A BRICK HEADED PRETZEL TOO
● OK so get this, he's barely on the corner of the pillow with a foot off the bed, another propped up onto the wall, a hand by his side and the other off the bed
● And there's fucking flies buzzing around his face as ants just raid the crumb filled sheets
● a c k
● Maybe it's the whistle breathing sounds from his nose???
● I don't know
● Everyone in his house wants to suplex twirl, slam, then smother a pillow into Peh-Yan's face while he's asleep, it's disgusting
● He's so freezing cold oml
● Always has his window open. It's snowing. It's raining. It's sleeting. It's a tornado. It's a wildfire summer. WINDOW. 👏 OPEN. 👏
● Very cuddly tho, so that's,,, idk
● 1/10 recommend but not 0 at least
● You know he goes to bed at 11 and wakes up at 6. He's just. Weird.
● He eats a box of taco bell before bed routinely
● Raids the kitchen for milk in his sleep

So for rest stop in the stars, do sun and moon get to have frequent movie nights? Or does the company not approve of that?
O MY GOSH! Never thought of that but this is ADORABLE! 100% canon now.
You bet they have movie nights. I mean come on drive in movies are like the most 50s thing ever! They set up a big inflatable screen out back behind the diner. I'm sure Grease is a classic they'll show (which tbh - actually not that great of a movie??)
Maybe old school cartoons - like the jetsons, anything retro futurism style. It's still technically a family oriented budget motel. But maybe they have some creature from the black lagoon's thrown in there as well during the fall to mix up the space stuff
Moon has a popcorn machine they keep in the storage room of the front office and hands little treats out to the kids with Sun !!!!
O wow this is such a big brain idea... I might just have to add movie night to the little drabbles collection. Sun and Moon being able to get all snugly while watching the big movie is kind of breaking me

The city offers a vibrant backdrop for any party style, and with the right planning, your birthday party can be a memorable experience for everyone.
Here are some exciting theme party ideas for your birthday in Ahmedabad, ensuring that your celebration stands out. And if you want to take your event to the next level, working with a professional Birthday Party Planner in Ahmedabad can help turn your vision into reality.
Bollywood Glam Night
In a city as culturally rich as Ahmedabad, why not go all out with a glamorous Bollywood-themed party? This theme allows guests to dress up as their favorite Bollywood stars and immerse themselves in the glittering world of Indian cinema. The vibrant costumes, upbeat music, and dramatic dance performances create an energetic atmosphere that’s sure to entertain your guests.
A Birthday Party Planner in Ahmedabad can help you design the perfect Bollywood backdrop, complete with red carpets, movie posters, and even a dance floor for the ultimate Bollywood dance-off. With the right event planner, you can also arrange for live dance performances, karaoke sessions featuring classic Bollywood hits, and photo booths to capture those star-studded moments.
Carnival Extravaganza
Bring the joy and excitement of a carnival to your birthday party with this colorful and fun theme. Think of games, circus performers, popcorn stands, and cotton candy machines that can keep guests entertained for hours. A carnival-themed party is perfect for both kids and adults, offering a variety of activities that cater to all age groups.
To make your party a success, consider working with an Event Planner and Organizer in Ahmedabad. They can help set up the carnival booths, organize entertainers such as magicians or jugglers, and ensure the decorations reflect the playful nature of a carnival. With their help, your birthday party can be a thrilling and unforgettable event that captures the magic of a day at the fair.
Vintage Retro Party
For a more sophisticated and nostalgic celebration, a vintage retro theme is an excellent choice. Whether it’s the roaring 1920s, the disco-fueled 1970s, or the colorful 1980s, a retro-themed party allows you and your guests to relive the fashion, music, and atmosphere of a different era. From flapper dresses and jazz music to bell-bottom pants and disco balls, a retro theme adds a unique charm to your birthday celebration.
Planning a retro-themed party can be a bit challenging in terms of decor and entertainment, but with the right Event Organizer Management in Gujarat, you’ll have all the assistance you need. Professional event organizers will source vintage decorations, select era-appropriate music, and create a stylish ambiance that transports your guests back in time.
Masquerade Ball
If you’re looking for something a bit more mysterious and elegant, a masquerade ball is a timeless theme that works well for adult birthday parties. Guests can arrive in formal attire, with decorative masks adding an air of intrigue to the evening. The décor should be luxurious and sophisticated, with soft lighting, chandeliers, and rich fabrics creating a regal atmosphere.
An experienced Event Organizer and Planner in Ahmedabad can help bring this sophisticated theme to life by coordinating every detail, from sourcing exquisite masks for guests to designing a menu that matches the opulent surroundings. With live classical music or a string quartet playing in the background, your masquerade ball will leave a lasting impression on all who attend.
Beach Party
Who says you need to be near the ocean to have a beach-themed party? Even in the heart of Ahmedabad, you can bring the laid-back, sunny vibes of a beach party to your birthday celebration. Sand, surfboards, beach balls, and a tiki bar serving refreshing drinks can all be part of your event. A beach theme is great for outdoor venues or even poolside parties, where guests can relax, play games, and enjoy a summer atmosphere, no matter the season.
To ensure the beach vibes are on point, hire an expert in Event Organizer Management in Gujarat. They’ll handle everything from the décor to arranging for themed entertainment like limbo contests, beach volleyball, or a live DJ playing tropical tunes. With the right team, your beach party will transport your guests to a seaside paradise without ever leaving the city.
No matter what your birthday party theme, the key to a successful event is meticulous planning and creativity. Whether you’re envisioning a glitzy Bollywood night or a fun-filled carnival, working with the right event planner can make all the difference in ensuring your party is everything you dreamed of. Unconventional Birthday Decoration Ideas That Will Surprise Your Guests
Planning a birthday celebration can be an exciting yet challenging task, especially when it comes to birthday decorations. Everyone wants their party to stand out and leave a lasting impression on their guests. If you're tired of the usual balloons and streamers, here are some unconventional birthday decor ideas that will surprise your guests and make your celebration truly memorable.
Choose a theme for your birthday party decoration from Take Rent Pe, an online provider of rental decoration settings, to make it even more memorable and spectacular. Choose from the more than 100+ décor set options available, and let the experts handle all aspects of the event planning.
1. Theme-Based Decorations
Choosing a unique theme for your birthday party decorations can instantly elevate the atmosphere. Think beyond the common themes and opt for something extraordinary. How about a vintage carnival, an enchanted forest, or a masquerade ball? Decorate your venue with elements that reflect your chosen theme. For a carnival theme, you could have vibrant banners, popcorn machines, and game booths. An enchanted forest could feature fairy lights, faux trees, and mystical creatures. A masquerade ball might include elegant masks, chandeliers, and draped fabrics.
2. DIY Craft Stations
Incorporating DIY craft stations into your birthday celebration decoration can be both entertaining and decorative. Set up a station where guests can create their own party hats, masks, or even paint mini canvases. Not only does this add a personal touch to your birthday decor, but it also provides a fun activity for your guests. You can display their creations around the venue, adding to the overall décor and giving guests a sense of accomplishment.
3. Photo Booths with a Twist
Photo booths are a staple at many parties, but you can make yours stand out with a unique twist. Instead of the typical props, offer a variety of costumes related to your theme. For example, if you’re having a retro 80s party, provide guests with neon wigs, oversized sunglasses, and vintage band t-shirts. Create an elaborate backdrop that matches your theme, and consider using a Polaroid camera so guests can take home instant photo mementos. This not only enhances your birthday party decorations but also provides lasting memories for everyone.
4. Interactive and Edible Decorations
Why not make your birthday decoration interactive and edible? Create a candy buffet with jars filled with colorful sweets, allowing guests to fill their own bags. Another idea is to have a cupcake decorating station where guests can customize their desserts with various toppings. This adds a playful element to your birthday celebration decoration and ensures that your guests are both entertained and well-fed.
5. Unique Lighting
Lighting can dramatically transform any space, making it a crucial element of decoration. Instead of the usual fairy lights, consider using lanterns, string lights in different shapes, or even neon signs that spell out personalized messages. For an outdoor party, hang string lights from trees or place luminaries along pathways. Inside, use colored LED lights to create an ambiance that complements your theme. Unique lighting can make your party decorations more visually appealing and set the mood for the celebration.
6. Creative Centerpieces
Think outside the box when it comes to table centerpieces. Instead of traditional floral arrangements, consider using terrariums, floating candles in glass bowls, or even themed objects like mini disco balls for a dance party. For a more personalized touch, you can create photo collages of the birthday person’s memorable moments and place them in decorative frames. Creative centerpieces can be a focal point of your birthday celebration decoration and spark conversations among your guests.
7. Personalized Touches
Adding personalized touches to your birthday decorations can make the event feel more intimate and special. Custom banners with the birthday person's name, photo garlands, and personalized party favors can all contribute to a unique atmosphere. Consider creating a memory wall where guests can write messages and share their favorite memories with the celebrant. These thoughtful additions will make your birthday party decorations stand out and create a warm, welcoming environment.
Incorporating these unconventional ideas into your birthday celebration will ensure that your decorations are anything but ordinary. By focusing on unique themes, interactive elements, and personalized touches, you can create an unforgettable experience for your guests. Remember, the key to standout birthday decorations is creativity and attention to detail. Happy decorating!

Wedding Themes – From Minimalistic To Opulent
Planning your dream wedding can be a thrilling ride. An important part is choosing the perfect wedding theme. Whether you’re a fan of the low-key and simplistic or you’re all about that larger-than-life grandeur, there’s a wedding theme perfect for you. So, lean in closer because the experts at The Park Savoy Estate are diving headfirst into the world of wedding themes!
Minimalism Magic
For this simplistic wedding theme, think clean lines, muted palettes, and understated elegance. The Minimalism Magic theme doesn’t scream for attention but gracefully commands it. To make this theme shine, opt for a monochromatic color scheme, sleek decor, and focus on quality over quantity. It’s all about celebrating love in its purest form. Minimalist in no way means lessening the joy of your big day. You just want to focus on what matters to you most.
Time Travel Romance
Step back into an era of timelessness. Whether it’s the roaring ’20s, the dreamy ’50s, or the funky ’70s, pick an era that resonates with you. Bring out those retro dance numbers, timeless attires, and decor that reflects a bygone era. And don’t forget, sepia-toned wedding photos would be a stellar touch! There are so many elements that can bring this theme together from florals, invitations, and your menu choices.
Enchanted Forest Feels
Imagine tying the knot amidst a canopy of trees, fairy lights, and the soft chirping of crickets. The Enchanted Forest theme is all about embracing nature, with a sprinkle of fairytale magic. Think flower crowns, rustic decor, and woodland creatures dotting your invitations. For this theme to work, you need to know the weather projected for your big day and how to keep the theme when you need to make last minute changes if Mother Nature decides not to cooperate.
Starry-Eyed Splendor
Why stick to Earth when you can have the entire galaxy? Think dark, inky palettes highlighted with shimmering silvers and golds. Phosphorescent lights, constellation maps, and even a space-themed photo booth could send your wedding into another galaxy! There are so many options with this theme that can take you through the pre-wedding festivities all the way through the honeymoon!
Carnival Capers
Popcorn machines, carousel music, and fun can transport your guests to a world of childlike wonderment. From game stalls to cotton candy counters, this theme promises laughs, fun, and memories that last a lifetime. Elements of this theme will work equally well with an indoor or outdoor affair. You could even hire a professional entertainment team to play out the various scenarios.
Luxe Life
Now, if you’re thinking of going BIG, then this one’s for you. Dive into a world of lavishness with an Over-The-Top theme. Crystal chandeliers, grand ballrooms, cascading flower arrangements, and an attention to detail that screams luxury. #Stunning Decorating Ideas for A Party
Creating a social media-friendly party is all about the details. Here are some styling ideas that will have your guests snapping photos all night long.
Set the stage with captivating backdrop draping ideas. Opt for draping lush fabrics like chiffon or sequined curtains. Add fairy lights for a magical touch. A flower wall or balloon arch can also serve as an enchanting backdrop.
Elevate your table settings with nude napkins. They provide a soft and neutral base for your table decor, allowing colorful accents to pop.
Use spandex cocktail table covers. These sleek and stretchy table covers create a modern look. They fit snugly over cocktail tables, and you can choose a color that complements your party theme.
Crystal centerpieces add a touch of glamor. Opt for tall crystal candelabras or crystal vases filled with fresh flowers. The way they catch the light will mesmerize your guests.
Choose party table linens that match your theme. Vibrant colors or elegant patterns can set the tone for the entire event. Make sure they coordinate with your napkins for a polished look.
Don't underestimate the power of balloons. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Giant helium-filled balloons with tassels or confetti inside can make a big statement.
