So, I'm making a professional portfolio so I might remove some of my writing from this blog in favour of it being in the portfolio ...
But, mentally, I'm in a fog right now so it may take some time. I'm just ready to be done with retail but the thought of having to apply to places with writing samples is making me anxious all over again.
That being said, I am enjoying the website process and am strongly considering one for my Sattic, Kate content.

i like artist laios but i think he has commissions open but primarily works in retail because he undercharges and people rarely commission him.
his sketches is pretty good, but his lines/colors are mediocre and it turns people off. he’s atrocious at humanoid anatomy as well, so he struggles getting the usual furry clients as feral artwork isn’t as in demand as humanoid ones.
his art is pretty good, especially to a non-artist, but if he submitted his portfolio to a studio he would get rejected(he doesn’t even bother to make a portfolio)
he has nightmares where his parents are telling him to get a real job

Remember my Keepers of the Quaich post, last week?
Mordorians laughed and barked for ever about it and Marple told her crowd I was writing ridiculous science fiction scenarios - her constitutional right to be (tragically) wrong, of course.
Funny how all these people never pay attention to pictures not featuring the potential new calendar girl.
Such as this one, where two of the people are top level sales executives at Moët Hennessy USA :
Tumblr media
The blonde woman (red arrow) is ...
Tumblr media
Recently appointed as Sales Manager for Resorts, Leisure and Bars.
Tumblr media
The smiling gentleman with the orange pocket square is Matthew Jobe...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Senior Director Prestige Experiential Retail. I read the guy's job description and rest my case:
'partnering with the brand team and Maison (that's the Paris HQ) on strategies for our whisky portfolio'.
In layman terms, this is one of the people whose jobs are to actively keep an eye on up-and-coming whisky brands, for potential acquisition.
I would like to be very clear, because I read snarls from Mordor. These things do not happen instantly. This is a mid to long term careful expansion strategy. No one is going to add a brand without a sales history and clear market benchmark to a conglomerate portfolio. No matter who pulls the networking strings.
But sure, snarl, idiots. Snarl. The boy is going to laugh all the way to the bank, at the end of the day.
And yes, keep being interested in a nine-second video snippet dropped in the inbox of a troll.

A restaurant partially owned by California Governor Gavin Newsom is recruiting for a $16-per-hour role, despite a new state law guaranteeing a minimum wage of $20 per hour for fast-food workers. The restaurant appears not to meet the threshold for the new minimum wage, a law that Newsom himself signed to much fanfare in September.
The Context
On April 1, the new law guaranteeing a minimum wage of $20 per hour for fast-food workers employed in large chains took effect across California, up from the previous minimum of $16.
The law was passed by Democrats in the state legislature last year but has come under fire from some Republicans who claim it will cost jobs. A wage of $20 per hour for a full-time worker results in an annual salary of $41,600.
The new law applies to those restaurants that are part of a chain of 60 or more venues nationwide and which offer limited or no table service.
What We Know
PlumpJack Café in Olympic Valley, California, is seeking a part-time busser to "assist the food server in the restaurant to ensure guest satisfaction during all aspects of the dining experience."
The advert, placed on job posting website ZipRecruiter, says that the employee will be paid $16 per hour and their duties will include clearing dishes from tables, the preparation of caffeinated drinks and decorating tables prior to customer arrival.
The café is owned by the PlumpJack Group, a company founded by Newsom which specializes in wine and high-end dining. Its website says that PlumpJack Group operates four bars or restaurants, placing it well below the threshold for the $20 per hour minimum wage to take effect.
Newsom placed his ownership interests in the PlumpJack Group into a blind trust in 2018, and has had no day-to-day involvement in the running of the company since assuming office in January 2019.
Newsweek has contacted Newsom and the PlumpJack Group for comment outside of normal working hours.
The official PlumpJack Group website states: "In 1992, Gavin Newsom opened his first business, PlumpJack Wines, combining his passion for wine and his driving entrepreneurial spirit.
"Over the next decade, the PlumpJack Group began to grow under his leadership to include many of the restaurants, wineries, and retail establishments in the current portfolio."
Views
Republican State Assembly member Joe Patterson shared screenshots of the PlumpJack Café, PlumpJack Group website referring to Newsom as its founder and the rental cost of two properties in the area on X, formerly Twitter.
He added: "I wonder why @CAgovernor @GavinNewson's food businesses don't pay $20/hour? Live job posting at $16/hr in Olympic Valley. It's very, very expensive to live there... but he doesn't do as he tells others and doesn't pay a living wage."
Tumblr media
The increased minimum wage for fast-food workers more generally has been criticized by some Republicans who warn it will reduce the number of jobs.
Speaking to DailyMail.com, Rep. Doug LaMalfa from California said: "As if prices in California aren't high enough. Fast food prices are already rising, and employees are being replaced by self-checkout kiosks and soon robot cooks.
"Nearly everyone will be worse off: higher prices, fewer jobs, fewer eating options as places close, and fewer small businesses. Ultimately this new $20 minimum wage will affect nearly every job, with similar results."
In an earnings call at the end of October, McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski said that "there is going to be a wage impact for our California franchisees," which he added would have to be partially "worked through with higher pricing."
In February, Newsom denied a report by Bloomberg News that he pushed for a separate exception to the new minimum wage law that benefits a campaign donor. The law exempts restaurants that have on-site bakeries and sell bread as a standalone menu item.
As a result, Greg Flynn, a billionaire and Newsom donor, could save hundreds of thousands of dollars at his Panera Bread outlets in California, according to Bloomberg.
A spokesman denied any connection, saying: "This story is absurd."
In January, a baseline minimum wage of $16 came into effect across California.

Hi everyone, please take the time to reblog this for me please. I don't like putting my personal business out in the world like that, but I'm in a horrible position right now. We've reached the point where we have NO money, normally we can make it by but this month has really tested our limits. I can't do this much longer. My job hasn't given me any assignments for the new school year yet, my car is down again, bills are swarming, and I'm truly at my limit. Our family was devastated by the loss of one our elders on top of all of this.
This year, these last 2 years, have been awful in so many way but i'm very much at my breaking point. I can't do this for much longer and if something doesn't change I'm going to spiral. The only thing preventing me from simply walking into the woods is my sense of community to the people in my life.
My goal is to fill my commission slots so I can survive. Before I see any comments about it, yes I've applied to jobs. I've even applied for retail which will actually push my health over the edge but I'd have money. If you can afford to please consider commissioning me.

It’s the first day of my last semester. I have only two classes, a portfolio class where I’m planning to rig my centaur, Kavan, and a film class that I think might be learning photo bashing?
Despite the fact that my schedule is insanely light and negligible I woke up this morning spiked with anxiety.
I need to polish my reel which sucks because I hate video editing and I’m not very good at it, and I need use that to apply for jobs, and once I get a job I have to figure out how to be in a new field after over a decade in retail sales.
I oscillate wildly between feeling like I’m a smart competent person and I’ll figure it out to feeling like I’ll always be a step behind in my new industry and worrying that I’ll have to go back to selling mattresses and doing rigging and digital art on the side.

ohhhhhh my god guys I gotta give you an update but i need to explain my entire job history for the past year first cause its a little confusing uh.
so feb-may I did this internship at this real estate digital marketing firm and I was just making social media graphics there. just instagram stories and shit. and it was boring as hell but I needed to find a job cause I was graduating, and I was hoping they would hire me but they didnt have the space for a new full time employee at the time so... that was a bust.
in june and july I was applying to jobs foreverrrrr and getting nowhere so I said fuck it i need SOMETHING to hold me over, so I started working in the print department at staples as you are all well aware. at least it would be relevant enough to put on my resume cause I do want to make print graphics right? so its something.
then like 6 weeks ago my manager from the internship reached out to me and said she wanted to take me back part time after all. so for the past month and a half I've been working 2 part time jobs, one at staples and one at this marketing office doing the exact same fuckass ig stories as before. i wont lie its been exhausting and unsustainable so I was still applying for other full time design jobs cause I had no idea how long I could keep this up.
about 3 weeks ago I got an interview for one of those jobs I applied for and they explained that they were actually looking for a senior designer which obviously im not qualified for, but they liked my portfolio enough that they wanted to consider CREATING a junior designer role for me which was CRAZYYY to hear... it's a hawaiian bbq restaurant chain and I'm definitely wayyy more interested in designing for food and beverage stuff than real estate, plus a few other aspects about the job sounded really appealing to me and the interview went great so I was really hoping to get that job. but then I didn't hear back and Im so desensitized to getting ghosted after interviews i stopped getting my hopes up a long time ago.
a week and a half ago management at my real estate job told me that they were finally ready to bring me on full time, and since it didnt seem like I had any other prospects I wasnt really in a position to turn it down, so I immediately accepted and put in my 2 weeks at staples. this saturday will hopefully be the last day i ever have to work retail forever. I didnt make any announcement here when I found out because its honestly been making me depressed thinking about doing nothing but making fuckass instagram stories for ugly real estate companies 40 hours a week and people congratulating me on it would just make me more depressed. I wasn't supposed to start full time there until the monday after thanksgiving so ive still been doing my double part time grind.
but then......
whats that....???
THE HAWAIIAN BBQ RESTAURANT ENTERS WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!!!!
after weeks of no response the hr guy finally gave me a call just now to tell me I GOT THE JOB?!??! i genuinely honestly did not think they were gonna give me an offer and was just gonna move on with my life 😭 so now im gonna have to walk into my office tomorrow morning and say SIKE!!! and theyre all gonna be so mad at meeeee but this is genuinely such a better position for me I didnt think this was gonna happen for another year at least....
tldr I thought i was gonna be stuck with a job i dont like but I ended up getting the job I want!!!!!!!!
