the brush glides gently through your hair. you look at yourself in the mirror of the beautiful dressing table your husband made built for you.

enjoying the silence, the peace.

when you finish combing your hair, you spray a little perfume on the sides of your neck and let out a sigh, ready to go to bed when you felt a knock on your bedroom door.

your brow furrows and you notice in the reflection how the door opens, revealing thomas entering the room while staggering on his own feet. the man walks until he is in front of you and kneels, resting his head on your lap.

"drunk again?" you question, and more than a question it is a harsh statement that you disguise.

shelby settles between your legs and nods, slowly. "im sorry."

you want to scold him, yell at him for behaving that way and ignore your advice. you only want the best for him, but it seems like he has a hard time realizing that.

"what did i told you about getting home wasted?" you remind him.

"i know... im sorry, princess."

you sigh. your hands go to his head and you begin to gently caress his hair, strands twining with your long fingers.

thomas buries his head further into your lap, moaning in satisfaction when you scratch his scalp.

he melts in your hands, in your touch.

a goofy smile adorns his face and warms your heart. you weren't used to seeing him so... calm, so devoted to you.

"i don't want you to drink so much." you begin, trying not to lecture him. your voice comes out soft, in a whisper so as not to break the peaceful atmosphere. "i worry about you."

"i try, i really do. i want to be the best husband for you."

you smile, your hand now caressing the back of his neck. "and you are. you're good."

thomas gives a nasal chuckle, hugging you around the waist as he lets himself be carried away by your pampering. "just for you... good boy for my princess."

you feel the affection in his voice, in his words; you feel him so vulnerable that you just want to fill him with your love until you fall apart.

"my good boy." you flatter.

thomas can't figure out if it's all the whiskey he ingested taking effect or your sweet caresses, but suddenly he feels sleepy.

the man rubs his cheek on your thigh and places a small kiss there.

you notice his tiredness, his slower and clumsier movements. "let's go to bed, baby." you help him stand up and shelby steals a kiss from you when he is almost at your height, bending his head a little to brush his lips with yours. he lets himself be guided to bed and doesn't bother to change into night clothes.

thomas sinks into the mattress and looks for your figure to rest his body on top of you. his arms wrap loosely around you while his head goes to your chest.

sweet hands caress him again and lull him to sleep. he doesn't remember feeling this safe and loved in his life.

"good night." you murmur, placing a kiss on the top of his head. thomas smiles, relaxing even more against you.

"night, mommy." he utters, his large hand resting on your barely swollen abdomen.

today is the actual worst day of my life. i had to say goodbye to my baby boy after 13 years. he’s been through so much that he never deserved and has always been so brave and strong but this time it was just time to let him rest. he’s been with me for nearly half of my life and my entire adult life and i really don’t know what im going to do without him. if you have any babies please give them a hug for me ❤️

A/N: I’ve been binging too much TwoSet, so this took me four days to make. Why? Because violins, baby!😂 And YES, I just saw the title of their latest video, and NO I don’t have guts to watch it😭

Leonardo:

The peaceful quietness of your bedroom was disturbed, when you heard light tapping against  your window, making you look up from whatever you were doing. A soft smile spread across your face, already knowing who you would find outside your window.

With a happy skip in your step, you made your way to your window, opening it and letting the cold night air of New York City enter your room. And there you found him, hanging upside down from the fire escape over yours, smiling at you with that sweet boyish smile and pretty blue eyes.

“Leo”, you smiled, feeling giddy at the sight of your turtle boyfriend hanging outside your window. “What are you doing here?”, you asked, climbing out on the fire escape. “You haven’t told me you would come by”.

“I just thought I’ll come by to say hey before patrol”, he smiled, watching as you came closer to him. Even upside down, you made his heart skip a beat. “Can’t a guy just check in on his girlfriend?”

“Of course you can”, you smiled, standing right before him.

The two of you smiled at each other for a moment, before your hand came to rest on his cheek, your thumb stroking his jaw.

“Will you come over after patrol?”, you asked. “My parents won’t be home before tomorrow”.

“When you ask so nicely”, Leo chuckled. “Of course I will. Anything for my girl”.

You bite your lip, feeling butterflies fly through your stomach. Something that tended to happen when Leo decided to play up his charm. And so, you softly pressed your lips to his in a soft sweet kiss. When you pulled from the kiss, you found Leo smiling from ear to ear, looking at you with pure love in his eyes.

“I love you, Leo”, you smiled, pressing a kiss to his forehead. “See you after patrol”.

“I love you too, (Y/N)”, Leo hummed, savoring the feeling of your lips against his forehead. “See you later”.

Raphael:

You were talking down the street, returning home after a long night out. Even without your headphones, you probably wouldn’t have noticed the familiar figure coming down from above, hanging upside down in the streetlamp you were about to pass. So when you suddenly felt a tap on your shoulder, you turned with your fists up, ready to fight like your boyfriend had taught you. But when you then found your boyfriend, hanging upside down before you with a smirk plastered across his face, you let out a sigh of relief.

“God damn Raph, don’t do that”, you sighed. “You almost scared the shit out of me”.

“I was going for your pants, but I guess that was one way to do it”, Raph chuckled, his eyes lingering on your for a moment. “On your way home?”

“One were to think that you were the genius turtle with those detective skills”, you laughed, making Raph pull a playful grimes.

“Ha ha, very funny”, he said, reaching one hand out for you, perking his lips. “Now, come here. Gimme a kiss”.

“What if I don’t want to”, you asked, not putting any effort into hiding your smile, as you took a step backwards, getting just out of his reach. Raph gasped in an overly dramatic manner, making you giggle at his antics.

“It’s not nice to lie, (Y/N)”, Raph said, faking an angry expression. “Now, give me a kiss before I get mad”, he continued, pecking his lips once more.

You couldn’t help but giggle, giving in with a bright smile. Holding Raph’s head in your hands, you pressed your lips to his in a small peck that made him hum playfully when you pulled back.

“You look pleased”, you smiled, still holding his head in your hands.

“I am”, Raph smiled. “But I would be more pleased if you gave me another kiss”.

You let out a happy laugh, throwing your head back. Your, oh so charming teaseful boyfriend, always managed to sneak in comments like that.

“Okay, you whining baby”, you smiled, before pressing your lips to his again, feeling him pull you closer with his free hand. This kiss was longer and deeper than the first, yet still short and sweet, making both you and Raph feel tingles in your stomachs.

Raph pulled from the kiss with a very satisfied look on his face, giving you that smug smile once again. “See, that wasn’t so bad”.

“Dork”, you smiled, nudging him slightly on his shoulder.

“All me dork all you want, babe. But even I know you like it”, Raph smirked, before getting ready to climb back up the lamp pole. “And when I get back from patrol, you’ll get more”.

Donatello:

“Donnie?”, you called out, looking around Donnie’s garage lab. But with him being nowhere to see, you did a turn on the spot, taking in your surroundings once more. Where could he be? You had texted him several times, but he still hasn't answered you. And that was an hour ago! “Babe?”

“Up here!”

You looked up to the rafters of the garage, finding your turtle boyfriend on the beams above, fiddling with wirings and all sorts of strange things, that you still had no idea what their names were.

“What are you doing up there?”, you asked, crossing your arms as you smiled up at your boyfriend.

“What does it look like I’m doing?”, Donnie smiled. “I’m fixing the lights. And the electric wires… and the heat… pretty much everything”.

“Okay, but why?”

“Well…”, Donnie sighed, sitting back up on the beam, looking up as he thought. “First Leo came and asked me to fix the lights, because it wasn’t strong enough to let him read. Then Mikey came and told me he had problems with his outlets. And then Raph started yelling up about the heating in his room. And since the wires and all access points are up here, I just decided to get them all done”.

“I guess that makes sense”, you said, taking a seat in Donnie’s chair, watching as he continued to work. “Do you need any help up there?”

“No, no, I got it”, Donnie said, not taking his eyes from what he was working with.

“Okaaayyy….”, you said, not feeling fully sure about his answer. “But please be careful, babe”.

“I’m always careful, (Y/N)”, Donnie said with a smile and his eyes closed, making you uneasy straight away. “I know what I’m doing, so there’s no need to worRY!-”

And just like you had feared it would happen, Donnie fell off the beam and tumbled towards the ground beneath. But before you could even let out a sound, and before Donnie could reach the ground, he found himself tangled up the wires he had just been fiddling with, leaving him hanging upside down just before you, with a sheepish smile. "Whoops".

You stood from the chair, crossing your arms with a smug smile, as you walked towards your tangled up boyfriend. “Seems like you do”.

“This wasn’t part of the plan”, Donnie said, looking up as his lower half tangled up.

“It wasn’t?”, you asked in a teasing manner. “Well, at least I know where I can find you now”. And then, before Donnie could ask what you meant, you took his face in your hands, before pressing a kiss to his lips, making him hum in pleasant surprise. “Now, let’s get you out of all that”.

Michelangelo:

With a sigh you laid back on the bed, turning your head to watch your boyfriend on the floor, as he tinkered around with his latest action figures. That was what happened when he got his hands on a new collectible. That was just how it was. You knew better than to get in the way of Mikey’s hobbies, but damn, sometimes you would get bored just watching him, when you had hoped that day would have been all about a couple time.

“Mikey”, you said with another sigh, trying to catch the attention of your turtle boyfriend.

“Yes, babe?”, Mikey asked, still not taking his eyes off the figure in his hand as he moved its arms around.

“When will you come and cuddle?”

“Just a moment babe, I just got to look through the rest first”.

You let out another loud exacerbated sigh, spreading your arms out on Mikey’s bed like seastar. Mikey still had several boxes on all new figures to go through, and you were getting impatient. ADHD can’t spread to other people by touch, but by this point you fully believed that you had gotten it from Mikey. Ever since you had gotten together with the orange clad turtle, you had started taking on many of his mannerisms. Such as his tendency to sigh in annoyance when getting impatient. And funnily enough, Mikey never seemed to notice when you did so. Just like right now. No reaction. Not what you wanted. So you had to do something about it. And you knew just how.

You scooted yourself around the bed, until you laid with your head resting down the side of the bed, allowing you to look at Mikey with your head upside down. You pucked your lips, making loud and obscene kissing noises. But… still nothing.

Right! That’s it! And with that you grabbed a hold of Mikey’s head, pulling him towards you as he made a surprised sound. You pressed his lips to yours, kissing him while you were still laying upside down on his bed.

“What was that for?”, Mikey asked with a smile.

“Because I’m getting impatient!”, you whined, trying to hide your smile. “And you’re just sitting there looking like a snack! What do you expect me to do?”

“You know what?”, Mikey said, laying his figure down on the floor before coming to a stand, smiling at you. “You’re right. Cuddle time!”

You did not have time to move before Mikey decided to jump on to the bed, throwing himself on you, letting you scream out in laughter, when he started attacking your face with kisses. You regretted NOTHING.

Rafayel ☆ Decorating Nursery

Rafayel has an artistic vision for his baby's nursery, and you are letting him have full control (since he also does not want you to exert yourself in your delicate condition despite your protests that you are fine)

Boy or girl, the nursery is getting painted in pink. Very soft, soothing colors all around from paint choice to decorations.

One wall will be a focal point, and he will paint a mural of Lemuria, a reminder of this baby's heritage. Lemuria still lives on in this baby.

He will decorate the nursery with mementos of you and him.

All of the plushies he won for you will be displayed proudly on shelves.

"They can watch over the baby as he or she sleeps," he explains while meticulously organizing them.

He's pretty open to any type of people so to him, preference isn't something that he keen on too much, also since he's taking care of everyone most of the time or being the older brother figure, you can expect him to be the perfect, caring boyfriend~ - Though I think he would have special feelings more towards people that are mature with a somewhat older siblings vibe that is capable of taking care of others just like him. He might not appear like it, but he would really appreciate it if he's the one receiving instead of the other way around once in a while, it's the most effective way towards his heart! - It doesn't have to be a s/o that's mature or has an older sibling vibe all the time, they can also just be someone really sweet and supportive. Actively helping him out in the kitchen or tagging along with him in school, that is enough to tell him how affectionate they are towards him, and he too, would be affectionate back towards them. - Perhaps it could also be a s/o that likes hearing jokes or easy-going like him too. Darry had felt it coming on.

It had started off as just a cough, a tickle in his throat that had him pausing to take a breath in the kitchen as he prepared for the day.

Sodapop's face immediately filled with concern when he heard the sound of his older brother coughing. "You feeling alright, Dar?"

"I'm okay, little buddy. Just a cough, that's it." Darry replied with a smile as he cleared his throat. He ignored Dally suspicious look, and ruffled Ponyboy's hair as he walked behind him, a genuine grin forming on his face as his youngest brother yelped and playfully hit his hand away.

Darry didn't have time to focus on himself.

Johnny was finally out of the hospital. Albeit, he was using a wheelchair, but he was out, and had moved into the Curtis house after his parents had all but abandoned him.

Dally's arm had finally recovered, and he had all but moved back into the Curtis house as well.

Things were peaceful, and Darry did not want to ruin the good times his family had finally fallen into.

Of course, that wishful thinking didn't keep his cough from worsening.

A few days later, after his cough had first begun, Darry woke up feeling as though he was dying. It was a fever, because of course it was, and it took him extra time to catch his breath as he stood up from the bed.

Ponyboy, Johnny, and Sodapop had all gotten the concerned looks on their faces when he entered the kitchen, obviously noticing his dark circles, and the slight stumble of his steps.

"Darry, you shouldn't be going to work if you're not feeling great." Ponyboy said, and oh, how Darry loved his baby more than anything. His brothers were wonderful, and sweet, and the best part of his life, but they were more perceptive than anyone he had ever met.

He wrapped an arm around Ponyboy, squeezing him into his side. "I promise, I'm okay, baby. I'm just not sleeping too good."

Ponyboy leaned into him before sighing and stepping back, deciding that he was appeased by his brother's words.

Darry lasted all of two hours at work before it all hit him.

He lifted a bundle of roofing onto his shoulders, felt a wave of dizziness rush over him, and his vision went black.

Darry woke up to the sound of voices.

"Bilbo knelt on one knee filled with sorrow. 'Farewell, King under the Mountain!' he said." Ponyboy's voice came from his bedside, and Darry kept his eyes closed a little bit longer, contentedly listening to his baby brother read to him. “'This is a bitter adventure, if it must end so; and not a mountain of gold can amend it. Yet I am glad that I have shared in your perils—that has been more than any Baggins deserves.'"

Tears welled in Darry's closed eyes as he listened.

Pop's favorite book series in the entire world had been "Lord of the Rings", and it had been a tradition that he'd read a chapter to the boys before going to bed each night.

Ma had eventually joined their tradition, and they had been making their way through "The Hobbit" when the accident had happened. None of the boys could muster up the ability to pick up the book and finish, but after the events of The Rumble, Darry, Sodapop, and Ponyboy had made an effort to get through a chapter each night together.

Darry couldn't keep his eyes closed any longer, and he opened them to see Ponyboy crouched in the chair beside his bed, the book propped open in his lap. Sodapop was sitting at the end of the bed, his eyes on Ponyboy as their youngest brother read.

"How much trouble am I in?" Darry rasped out, his voice rough from the amount of coughing he had been doing.

Immediately, Ponyboy stopped reading, and both his eyes and Sodapop's snapped to Darry.

"I told you not to go to work." Ponyboy said accusingly.

Darry mustered up a weak grin, and Sodapop reached out, smacking his leg. "Not funny, idiot." There was a glimmer of fear in his eyes. "The doctor said you have pneumonia. It should clear up in a few weeks, and you can leave the hospital in a few days. Your boss told us he's giving you the time off to get better."

Darry let out a sigh, sinking back into the bed, and looking around. "Where are the rest of the boys?"

Ponyboy marked his spot in the book with his finger. "Two-Bit and Steve are with Ace and Penny at the park. Johnny and Dal are down getting lunch for us."

"Dal's pissed to high heaven." Sodapop added helpfully, making Darry wince. They sat in silence for a few minutes, until Ponyboy spoke up.

"Why didn't you say anything?"

Oh, Darry hated the quiet hurt in his baby's voice.

The three brothers had made a pact, after The Rumble, that they wouldn't hide things from each other. It was what had caused so many issues before, and they didn't want that happening again.

Darry reached out, taking Ponyboy's hand that wasn't holding the book, and squeezing gently. "I'm sorry, Pony. Honestly, I didn't think it was anything. If I had felt worse, I would have told you, or I at least would have told Dally, I promise."

Ponyboy's hurt expression faded, and he nodded. Sodapop relaxed back at the end of the bed.

"Hurry up and get better, Dar. I hate this place." the middle brother said, and Darry grinned even wider at him, poking him with his foot, and laughing at the yelp.

He then moved, careful of the needle in his arm, and made a baby brother-shaped spot beside him on the hospital bed. Immediately, like the little leech he was, Ponyboy moved into the space, curling up in Darry's space, and reopening the book.

Darry wrapped an arm around Ponyboy's shoulders, and closed his eyes. He felt Sodapop's hand wrap around his ankle, and he relaxed as Ponyboy began to read.

“No!” said Thorin. “There is more in you of good than you know, child of the kindly West. Some courage and some wisdom, blended in measure. If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. But sad or merry, I must leave it now. Farewell!”

That was how it started, being his girlfriend yet barely seeing him caused you to grow tired of his constant late night trips to who knows where. You weren’t an idiot, you knew what he was doing, and when you first approached him, he was hesitant to let you in. He told you this was a dangerous world, that there were people who would shoot you with no hesitation, that he didn’t want you involved because you were too good for that kind of shit. You of course assured him it was okay, that you wanted in, to just give you a chance because you missed having him there with you and if this is what it took then so be it.

So he agreed, now a year later it’s summer and you both decided to drive down to the Florida Keys in a condo he bought recently. Turns out you’re a great help at his deals, all those little skirts you wear and the way you wrap your lips around your straw as you sip your cherry coke with lime made the men incredibly weak in the knees.

“You cut this shit with the baking powder right Rafe? You know that makes it weigh more which means we can charge more and half these idiots will be too high to notice” he shook his head as he bent down to the white lines he had placed on the counter next to the stove, snorting them clean and letting out a loud sigh.

“Of course I did baby, not an amateur. Here” he pulled his car keys from his pocket, getting the special key he used for coke and scooping some of the white powder up to hold to your nose.

You snorted the powder from the key, scrunching your nose and sniffling, then wiped any evidence from your nostril. You extended your hand to his, interlacing your fingers and heading to the car for a deal he’d managed to set up in Miami. He opened the middle console and pulled out his gun, sticking it in the waistband of his pants as he always did in case something went awry. You pulled down the vanity mirror and reapplied your signature red lipstick, admiring the delicate gold hoops you had on that Rafe bought you as a gift. When you were satisfied, you pushed it back and put your seatbelt on.

The deal was obviously a huge success, the guy wasn’t able to take his eyes off of you long enough to notice his coke was clearly cut with baking soda, blindly paying Rafe double the price because of his fascination with you. Once he left, You and Rafe walked to the beach and watched as the waves crashed against the shore. The soft moonlight illuminating them beautifully, bringing you a sense of peace that you hadn’t quite realized you needed.

“I think we should move to Miami one day” you spoke softly, resting your head on his shoulder as his expensive cologne filled your nose.

“Yeah? Why’s that baby?” his eyes remained on the waves in front of him, one arm wrapped around your shoulder hugging you close.

“People never die in Miami. That’s what they all say, you believe me, don’t you baby?” a forced smile on your face as you realized you two aren’t bulletproof, you could easily die on one of these runs. Sure you’d been lucky before, but luck always runs out one way or another.

“Of course, maybe one day we will. We’ll move here and leave this shit behind us, just dance the night away. A world made just for us where we live forever and watch the keys” he knew what you were thinking, the same thing often crossed his mind. He was able to drown it out with you, your moans, the feeling of your body against his, the high he got from snorting the white powder that made it feel like winter.

“Promise me. Promise me we’ll move here and live forever one day” you moved your head to look at him, a serious look on your face.

“I promise.” his hands moving to cup your face and pull you into a kiss. A promise that could seal your fates forever never felt so good. Little did you both know…

I've finished the episode and I am literally crying. No, this is not an exaggeration, I am actually crying and I don't think I've literally straight up cried for an episode like this since 'Since your parting' and I'm crying much more than I cried back then. It was beautiful, thank you David Productions, it was perfect. It is now my favorite story in the remake now (it was already my favorite in the manga anyways).

I've already analyzed the story entirely here but I want to talk more about my favorite bits and addition in the remake (and other stuff)..

Nozomi's diary entry at the start was done so beautifully. The vibe which comes across is so soft and innocent, perfectly showing of Nozomi's pure heart. The soft coloring, the music, how they showed the writing, her voice acting (and the snow globe 😭) It honestly felt like I was watching another anime..

Speaking of the music, it seems like they made new BGM for this episode and let's just say, it's perfect..

..and the animation quality is just superb..

Oh my gosh, the way Nozomi becomes sad when he's unable to hold her hand... poor Nozomi :'(

Ataru commenting on how the scarf has his initial on it. As an artist, I can say it make people really happy when someone else points out the details in their work so I'm sure it made Nozomi really happy too..

Also, I love the colors for everything Nozomi made. I think it's a combo of the of original anime and manga's versions, which is very cute.

I love the addition of people not being able to see Nozomi, making Ataru seem like a loon. It makes him look stupid (while also wearing winter accessories during summer) but he doesn't care..

The whole date is so damn cute by the way, I think I was already tearing up by this point..

The whole moment where Nozomi was in the dark, I was literally screaming for Ataru to come out and be with her cuz I couldn't stand seeing her like that.. the poor girl..

Nozomi's soft smile as she rests in peace.. and now I'm crying again...

One detail I love which isn't remake original is how proud Sakura and Cherry are of Ataru after the date, like they didn't have much faith in him about him not breaking her heart at first but now they are very much proud of him..

And I've actually been reading through your asks too! I loved your take on Aemond's love + duty! I'll admit that's something that has already bothered me too, whether he'd be willing to love or not and if the person he loves maybe would never be "important enough". But the point you make is a good one, that it's natural that we care about our own goals, and that doesn't mean love is less important. I would like to think that's what Ewan means when he talks about Aemond as well, that yes duty is important to him, but he wouldn't necessarily place duty so above someone he cares for, not to the point of making them any less important to him, right? They would coexist, as they should.

I honestly have this vision of Aemond confiding his goals to his beloved and seeking support, and as you said, loving her even more when that support is given; it's very endearing to think of tbh, and I agree that it feels unfair to say he'd abandon the person who loves him.

As you said too, we just don't see it because Aemond literally has no one that gives this to him :'). But from what we've seen of him, that's what I interpret.

Hi, Lyra, I have insomnia. And feel free to ramble in my Asks, I welcome chaotic thinking.

The "not important enough" argument is such a.... Not complex, but I guess multi-tiered concern for a lot of people. On one hand, someone can absolutely make their partner feel insignificant (ie. All time spent at work, little time spent together, shallow communication, poor listening skills). On the other hand, insecurities can lead people to believe that nothing is ever enough. However, one issue is through actions and the other is an internal struggle.

I don't think I've ever felt like I wasn't important to any of my partners. If anything, I felt burdened by how much they prioritized me because I didn't want them to. If I'm focused on my career, no amount of emotional appeal will ever convince me to pivot my goals and refocus. It made it even more troublesome when I try to be very communicative and empathetic with my partners because nothing ever seemed like it was enough to make them feel secure. At some point, the blame can't all fall on me for having other priorities. Like, you can't have all of me lol You get the parts that need and crave human interaction, but my mind will not sacrifice ambition which helps only me and no one else. To be there at the start and feel at peace with me until I achieve my goals is something I've yet to find with anyone (please I hope to God this isn't an insane ask).

In terms of Aemond, he might prioritize security in a relationship. The boy doesn't need anything else stressing him out, and the last thing he'd want is for an insecure partner to keep vying for his attention (I mean hello Vhagar is right outside and she needs attention, too). And security encompasses comfort, reassurance, confidence, and a mind at ease. Just let him sleep at night beside someone who isn't constantly asking him why he did something or why didn't he do this or that. Let him rest his head in silence and he'll talk on his own.

As for your thoughts, I know the Aemond girlies are naturally more biased and want him to feel loved, but I also find it interesting because loving him won't change his stance on the throne, his morals, or his ethics. Hell, loving him might cause him to be more determined with a powerful partner at his side. And HONESTLY, I love that. Team "I can make him worse" is always a fun one. His self-interest for power puts him above Team Green and Team Black.

Dealing with teenage boys hyped up on sugar and deciding to yell at a TV over a show that she didn’t care to know the name of was draining.

Max rubbed her temples when Mike once again jumped up from his spot on the couch, hand pointing at the screen in an accusatory matter. Silently she glared at him as it took him no longer than five seconds to watch the conflict be solved. Sitting back down he went back to zoning in on the action-packed bit.

Shifting her gaze she looked at the floor, where poor little El just sat in tranquility and a smile on her face, wrapped in a blanket.

Huffing to herself, Max just couldn’t comprehend how an overall sweet, caring human being could find peace in a wack-ass person that barely showers three times a week.

Dragging a hand down her face, she glanced at the clock resting on a side table. It was only 7:00 pm and she had signed up for a night full of binging.

Technically nothing was holding her back from leaving, but she had nothing else better to do. 

Billy was home tonight and she didn’t want to hear him bitching about the number of times she had brought her girlfriend over.

Who wasn’t even here. When Max found out you couldn’t make it she threw a little fit. Stating she won’t be able to stay sane if you didn’t go with her.

This was the third time they’d had this conversation. Seemingly they have to continue to break apart with every little repeating event.

Just as Max was about to tell them to just shut up with the commentary, footsteps came down the basement stare.

“Max, somebody on the phone wants you,” Nancy informed. Not giving her time to ask questions Nance went back up the way she came.

Furrowing her brows, she pushed off the chair and stepped over the bodies littering the floor. Nobody paid her any mind, still too tranced by the TV in front of them.

Confusion crowded her mind with the thought of who wanted to talk to her. Opening the door, Max shuffled across the kitchen tiles, moving to the phone.

With slight hesitation she picked up the object, placing it to her ear.

“Hello?” She greeted.

“Hey.” Max’s heart jumped to her throat.

“Y/n? What are you doing?”

“Calling you duh.” Max’s face grinned at your playful tone.

“I mean why are you calling me?” 

“Missed your voice, shit kinda went sideways today,” you mumbled.

“Did something bad happen?” 

“Our flight was canceled cause the pilot wasn’t available and they weren’t able to get another one.”

“Oh, sorry to hear that.”

“It’s all good though,” you assured. “Just kinda ticked off that we had to drive like 3 hours just to be told to turn back around. But it’s fine. I called your house but Billy answered and said some shit like, ‘Skrew you and your dog, Max is at the Wheelers’ I don’t know why he dragged my dog into it but he told me where you were so it’s alright, I guess.” Max chuckled, twirling the phone cord around her finger.

“So you’re back home then?” She asked.

“Mhm,” you affirmed, “Was just calling to see if you wanted to come over or something tonight. It’s been a long day, I just want to see you.”

Max bit her lip to conceal her smile at your statement. She could never understand how you made her feel like such a giddy schoolgirl.

“But if you’re doing something with the party I get it-”

“No!” she cut you off quickly. She cleared her throat, shocked by her own little outburst. “I mean we aren’t really doing anything. They’re just watching some lame show. If you want I could ask Karen if you could come over.”

“Eh,” you sounded, “I was kinda hoping if it could be just you and me, but if you want to hang with them I get it.”

Max just knew she looked like the Cheshire cat with the way the smile on her face was splitting her cheeks.

“No, no it’s fine. We can just hang out. The others are too into their TV to miss me too much anyway,” she stated.

“Cool, I’ll pick you up in ten.”

“Cool,” she repeated.

“See you soon, Max.” Her heart fluttered at the sound of you using her name, but she quickly shook the fealing away.

Seriously she was getting way too into the school girl in love act.

However, she didn’t pay it another thought as she darted out of the room and down the stairs. Grabbing her stuff, she explained to the others you were coming to pick her up.

“But it’s just getting to the best part!”

“Shut up, Dustin. You’ve said that like seven times already.”
