——————————————————————————
The sweltering blaze of the summer Texas sun made my thighs stick to the leather seat of my 97' Buick as I exited the car.
I looked up at the pale yellow house, peeled siding, and a crooked white picket fence hugging the perimeter. It was familiar. It was home. Memories, good and bad, rested in the floorboards.
I stood in the driveway, the strap of my tank loosely hung off my shoulder, backpack slung over one arm, and the other weighed down by a suitcase.
"Hey- kiddo! You're late."
A man shouted from the front porch, waving his hand excitedly.
"I know. I'm sorry. Traffic was bad moving' through Houston." I gave the old man an apologetic smile as he met me halfway, pulling me in for a familiar embrace of musk and pine.
"Jus' glad you made it safe, is all. Dinners on the table. Hope yer hungry- I think I made too much." Joel gave me a smile, the wrinkles on his face looked deeper than I remembered.
He escorts me into the house, taking my bags from me and relieving me of the extra weight.
The house looks the same, but at the same time different. Smaller maybe? The furniture was in the same positions, the walls the same color, although slightly faded from the years.
"Can you go get yer sister? Tell her supper s' ready." The man asks as he turns to the staircase off the entry, bags in hand to put them in my old bedroom.
I tense, my body physically rejecting the idea of my sister- well, step sister.
I was hoping to make it here before she did, give me a few hours of peace before she'd ultimately ruin it.
When Ellie came into this family, it didn't take long for me to become jealous. She quickly clicked with Joel, bonding with him over things that he took an interest in; building shelves, working on cars, hell, even playing guitar.
It's not like I thought my dad loved Ellie more or anything. I knew I'd always be his little girl that got perfect grades and stayed out of trouble, but seeing how his face lit up when Ellie was by his side, grease smeared on her cheek made me heart seare.
I start to head up the stairs, following Joel's lead when I remembered she hasn't slept up there since she was a kid.
During Ellie's angsty teen years, she had begged Joel for days to let her move her bedroom in the basement, claiming "a growing girl needs her own space."
Joel always shot her down, but Ellie wouldn't let up. One night when I couldn't sleep, I got out of bed to get something to drink only to be met with Ellie's 16 year old string bean self pushing her mattress over the railing, and ever since then, the basement has been her territory.
I turn, slowly waking towards the door off of the kitchen that led to said basement, not a hint of enthusiasm in my step.
I creaked open the heavy door, and the wooden steps creaked beneath my feet with each step. Sounds of electronic gunshots and disgruntled curses grew louder as I reached the bottom.
I extend my neck around the corner of the cement room, clothes and empty cans scattered on the floor, music and movie posters filling every inch of the wall surface.
"Els...Ellie." I repeat her name, but she doesn't acknowledge it, her focus never straying from the first person shooter game on the tv. The LED lights that outlined the room turned the space into a purple hue.
My patience wearing thin, I yell her name one last time.
"What?!" Ellie huffed, tearing off the headset that covered her ears and looked at me.
"Dinner is ready." I said plainly, rolling my eyes before going back up the stairs.
"What? I don't even get a hello?"
Ellie yells from her still seated position, a cockiness tingled on her lips.
I scoff, rolling my eyes even harder even if she couldn't witness it. I picture that familiar smug smirk on her face that she had whenever she was trying to piss me off, and it was working.
Ellie loved toying with you like this since you were 16, and she was 17, poking and prodding at you as she sat back, and watched you get worked up. Ellie would never admit it to you, but she loved how no matter how little she tried to rile you up; you'd always bite.
"How's yer classes going? Likin' your teachers alright?" Joel asked between bites of his burger, his eyes glancing at me and over to Ellie, more specifically towards Ellie.
"Good... yeah, everything's good." I nod towards him, giving him a sincere smile to assure him.
Joel winked, smiling back like he knew he could count on me when it came to that sort of thing.
Ellie didn't respond, too busy shoving food in her face which made Joel kick her under the table, jolting her attention away from her plate.
"Ow! What the hell?" Ellie yelled, throwing her hands up.
"Yer classes, Ellie. How are you doin'?" The man asked, a seriousness overtaking his tone.
Ellie groaned, throwing her head back over the top of the wooden dining chair.
"They're fine. Stop worryin'." Ellie gave him a glare before diverting her attention back to her food.
I watch her from across the table, my legs crossed as I quietly ate which was the complete opposite of her.
Ellie's elbows rested on the oak table, her body slightly hunched as she devoured every last bite like she was a starved animal.
I stood at the sink, washing a cup when I felt a hand grab my hip from behind.
"Sorry- here's another one." Ellie talked into my neck, her fingers digging into my hip slightly. Her chest brushed against my back, and her lips too close to my neck. It felt suffocating.
I hadn't realized her presence had me washing the same cup for the entire interaction.
"Hey, Ellie-"
Joel's voice boomed, interrupted into the kitchen, causing Ellie to push herself away quickly.
Joel stood in the archway, his forearm coming up to lean against it.
"I haven't been down in the basement for a long time- please sleep upstairs. I don't need ya gettin' bit by a widow or somthin'."
Ellie groaned, her eyes lolling back into her skull, but she didn't argue.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dinner was long over. Joel retreated into his bed room for the night, placing a kiss on the top of my head before doing so.
I was sitting on the couch; the tv show I was watching was the only source of light that illuminated the main floor.
It was quiet and peaceful, Ellie had gone back down to her dungeon shortly after dinner, playing video games by the sounds of it.
My quiet was disturbed as the heavy basement door swung open, revealing a homely looking Ellie. Her sweatpants hung low on her hips, checkered green and blue boxers peaking above the waistband, and black wifebeater that snugged her torso.
"Isn't past your bed time, young lady?" Ellie teased as she opened the fridge, pulling out a beer before lazily making her way to the living room.
"Who cut your hair, Hellen Keller?" I snapped right back, a smirk on my lips as she took a seat on the opposite end of the couch.
"Oh- ha. Ha. You're funny."
Ellie pulled a lighter out of the pocket of her pants, using the top to pop open the cap of the brown bottle.
Her chuckle was low and raspy as she brought the rim of the bottle to her lips, her head dipping back as she swallowed the liquid.
Ellie had changed a lot since the last time I saw her, almost two years ago. Her hair is shorter, choppier, and a darker shade of brown, almost black.
Ellie is also taller and more muscular like she really grew into herself. Her face has hardened, her cheeks and jaw more apparent than before.
I sneak peeks at her, looking her over and familiarize myself with my step sisters new look. My eyes travel down to the dark green-blue ink that covered her forearm, a moth with fern leaves. It was pretty, almost too delicate looking compared to her, but it suited her.
My eyes scale down further to her hands, long fingers and a prominent veins that curved along. I have to give it to her, she always had beautiful hands.
"Take a picture it will last longer."
Ellie's voice jolted me out of my trance, my head quickly turning back to the tv.
I try to think of something- anything to cover my tracks.
"Don't get cocky- I was looking at your tattoo. It's nice... who did it?"
Ellie lifted her arm, turning it over to observe it.
"My ex. She bought a tattoo gun online and needed someone to practice on." Ellie said nonchalantly, shrugging before looking back up at the tv.
"Well- she did good. Why is she your ex now? You should've kept her around and gotten tatted up." I ask with genuine interest.
Ellie shrugged, taking another sip of her beer.
"Dunno- We kinda just fell out? Plus she caught me with another chick and freaked out." Ellie stated, not a hint of guilt after just admitting she's a cheater.
Somehow it didn't surprise me after all the girls she'd bring home after school. I'd see the same girl come over a few times within the week, only for the girl to be replaced by a different girl, and the cycle continued like that until she left for college.
"You think your big sis is a bad person now?" Ellie asked, a grin on her lips and she took another sip.
"It doesn't make me think of you any differently." I lied. It did make me think of her differently; I started to imagine what her sex life was like.
What's so great about her? That had these girls constantly following her home like a lost puppy. Surely, it's not her sunshine personality.
My mind flicks back to her hands, my eyes still glued to the tv. Her long and rough, calloused fingers must be the magic touch.
Ellie hummed at my response unconvincingly. The light from the tv illuminated the freckles on her cheeks and nose.
"The fuck are we watching anyways? Some cheesy reality show? Wait- is this the gay one?"
Ellie's voice piqued in interest, her back shimming further back into the cushion to her comfortable.
"Um- yeah, why?"
I ask, side eyeing her, not really understanding what the big deal was.
********
The big deal was; Ellie never knew if you were into girls; or not. She tried to figure it out for years, carefully observing the people you brought home for school. You didn't make it easy, and truthfully you were kinda a loner, only having a few close friends that you'd invite over.
Although there was that one time; you came home from school with a different girl that Ellie had never seen before, and when Ellie tried introducing herself, you quickly took the mystery girl's hand in yours and ran upstairs, locking the two of you in your bedroom.
Ellie fought herself over it for a long time, trying to picture you with a girl. She wondered if you had kissed another girl, held another girl's hand, and it drove Ellie fucking insane.
Ellie had a dark secret that she wouldn't dare say out loud and definitely would never let you know about it.
Ellie started thinking about you a lot after you turned 16, and they were almost never innocent thoughts. When you turned 16 it was like Aphrodite came down to earth and blessed you herself.
Ellie wasn't proud that she had these thoughts, I mean, you were her little sis after all, but it didn't stop her from picturing you whenever she fucked random college girls in the fraternity bathrooms.
********
Ellie shushed my question, motioning for me to turn it up and I do.
Four episodes in, both of us were dead silent as we watched the horror that is reality tv dating shows. We shared glances at each other whenever one of the cast members said something outrageous, but other than that, we just watched and enjoyed the presence of one another.
It was getting late, my eyes grew heavy and harder to keep open.
"Alright- it's gettin' late, and I have to shower still. Pick this up tomorrow?" I pause the tv and stand up with a yawn.
Ellie pleaded for one episode, holding her hands in a prayer. I stand my ground, promising her we can binge it tomorrow and that seemed to work.
We go up the stairs, Ellie following close behind as we mumble goodnights to each other before we go into our designated bedrooms.
I rummage through my suitcase, pulling out a over sized t-shirt and underwear.
I turn on the light in the bathroom, closing the door, but not all the way. It was a bad habit that I never grew out of, leaving the bathroom door open a few inches whenever I took a shower or bath. I did it because growing up, I was terrified of the bathroom, scared I'd get locked in and somehow the lights go out, and the grudge lady would be hiding in the shower.
I slip off my jeans and my tank, dropping them to the floor and turn on the water. I wait, holding my hand under the stream until the temperature was up to my standards.
I get in, letting the hot water soothe my aching muscles from sitting in a car all day. I felt the tenseness of my shoulders relax and my heart rate slowing down to a more relaxed pace.
***********
Ellie laid in bed, her arm folding under her head as the springs in the mattress poked her back. She scrolled through various apps, checking social media, playing games and repeating.
The sound of the water running in the room down the hall could be heard faintly in Ellie's old bedroom. The walls were still painted a dark shade of blue, with doodles of planets and rockets hand painted by Ellie herself.
Joel couldn't bring himself to paint over them.
The joint (or a few joints) Ellie smoked after dinner; was starting to kick in and made her crave some sort of barbaric concoction.
Pickles with peanut butter, maybe?
Ellie sighed, lifting her myself from the bed lazily, scratching the back of her neck before she turned the nob.
Ellie entered the long stretch of the hall, passing your bedroom the illuminated with a soft pink hue. Coming up on the bathroom, she paused.
At first, she wanted to tease you, to scold you for still keeping the bathroom open when you showered. You weren't a little kid anymore, and you needed to grow up in Ellie's mind.
On the other hand, Ellie was intrigued. She found herself peeking through the gap, the steamed glass door of the shower made it hard to make out details, but it was enough.
She felt wrong about it. One part of her was pulling her body away, telling her to stop looking, but the other part of her (the more fucked up part) couldn't look away.
Her eyes trailed up the profile of your body; pausing momentarily at points of interest.
Ellie didn't know it at the time, but she was biting down on her lip hard as she looked at the curve of your ass, plump and full, and the way your tits sat so high and perky.
Her hand coming down to cup her cunt, rolling her wrist against her clit. A moan escapes her lips as she continued to watch.
The sound of the water shutting off made Ellie snap back to her senses. She quickly backed away from the door and as quickly and quietly, as she could, made her way back to her bedroom and shut the door.
She fell into the mattress, taking a deep and shaky breath as she realizes what she's done. A wave of guilt washed over her- no, more like a tsunami. You were her step sisters, and even worse you've know eachother since Ellie was 14 and you were 13. You practically grew up together, but how would've Ellie known you'd grow into that.
Ellie couldn't deny she thought you were beautiful. Not just the fake, superficial type of beauty, but naturally, you were breathtaking to her, and your body matched.
As Ellie conflicted with herself, she continued to picture you. She imagined what you looked like underneath her, what you sounded like when she was splitting you open.
The guilt was replaced by lust and hormones, but mostly; lust.
Her hand crept down to the hemp of her boxers, slipping inside. Her other hand grabbed the bottom of her tank and brought it up to hold between her teeth- leaving her breasts exposed.
Ellie's fingers glided along her folds, coating them in her slick. She teased her entrance, rubbing gentle circles around her clit.
"Fuuuck- look what you do t' me, y/n" Ellie stifled a moan, dropping the fabric from her teeth as her middle finger sunk into her pussy, pumping in and out, slowly.
She moaned your name; over and over, adding another finger and quickening the pace.
The scene was honestly pathetic. Ellie's sweats and boxers tugged down to her knees, not bothering to take them off completely. Her breasts were the only thing holding the tank up, her hardened nipples- red and swollen as she harshly tugged at them.
"Fuu- your s-so wet, baby. You like when I fuck you like this? Huh?" Ellie babbled and stuttered, gritting through her teeth as she reached closer to her peak.
She pictured this is what you felt like as she sunk her fingers inside, curling against the spongy walls, hitting the spot that made you squirm with each pump.
She wanted to hear you beg, wanted to hear you say her name over and over until it didn't sound like a word anymore.
"Fuu-fuckin' bitch- d-dirty fuckin' whore-" Ellie curses, jaw slacked and her eyebrows furrowed upwards. Her rhythm became jagged as her hips bucked upwards, fucking herself through her orgasm.
Ellie panted, sprawled across the bed as bolts of electricity continued to send shock waves through her body.
Her inner thighs glistened, her breasts malled and violated.
It was official, Ellie had hit a new level of fucked up, but that's okay as long as you never find out.
It's not like you had your ear pressed against the wall as soon as you heard strange noises coming from your step sisters bedroom.
“We’re all clear on the plan?”
The Crows nod in reply to Kaz and hurry off to prepare for the task ahead, leaving you stood alone with your brother.
“What about me?” You ask
“What about you?” he replies as he gathers up the floor plans, blueprints and various other papers spread on the table.
“What do you want me to do?”
“Relax. Read a book. Whatever you want to do while you’ve got this place to yourself” he walks away.
“Place to myself…” you stand up and follow him “No, Kaz, I’m coming with you!”
“Absolutely not. You're staying here and that’s an order”
“An order?” You laugh "Who do you think you are? The General?”
He stops suddenly, turning to look at you.
“I’m serious Y/N. This job is too dangerous, especially with your condition.”
“My condition? What about you?” You gesture to his cane “If you can do it then so can I”
“You're weak”
“No weaker than you”
“Y/N!
“Kaz!”
You reach a stalemate as the two of you stare at each other, each waiting for the other to back down. He’s stubborn. But so are you.
“I think she should come” Jesper breaks the silence.
“Stay out of this Jesper” Kaz warns, still not taking his eyes off you.
“Oh come on Kaz!” Jesper continues “You know she’s the best actor here…we could really use her help distracting the guards.”
“I could even use my condition. Guards can’t resist helping a poor sick girl. Please Kaz, let me prove I’m not useless” you flash your puppy eyes at him until eventually he lets out a sigh of defeat.
“Fine! But if your condition gets worse you head straight to the meet up point. Okay?”
“Yes sir” you salute and he rolls his eyes before heading off to his office. You look over to Jesper, a big grin on your face as you thank him.
— — — —
 The job had started off smooth.
The guards completely fell for your ‘poor sick girl’ act and were fully distracted trying to help you. They didn’t notice Jesper sneak past the door or Inej scale the side of the building, effortlessly pulling herself up onto the roof. They did however notice the loud crash as something came smashing through one of the upstairs windows. The three of you jumped as you turn to see what had caused the damage.
Your heart sank as your eyes fell upon a familiar cane laying on the pavement in a pool of broken glass, blood covering the metal crows head.
“KAZ!” You yell as you make a run toward the building entrance but you're stopped by the on of the guards holding you back while the other sprints past you to investigate.
“I cant let you in there”
“Let go of me!” You fight to try and free yourself “I have to find my brother!”
“You're brother?” The guard asks, holding you even tighter and you curse yourself as you realise what you’ve said “Was this the plan? You distract the guards while he robs the place?”
“Please let me go”
“The only place you're going is jail where you belong”
You fight again but you can feel your strength leaving you at a rapid rate. You swing your legs wildly and manage to kick the guard in just the right place. He yells and throws you down to the floor, your head hitting the pavement with a loud thud. You groan as you roll onto your back, clutching your throbbing head in your hands. Your vision is blurry but you can just about make out the guard looming toward you, gun in hand pointed at you.
“Assaulting a guard is a crime punishable by death”
You allow the pain to take over and let your eyes flicker shut as you wait for it all to end.
The last thing you hear is a gunshot followed by Jesper calling your name.
— — — —
When your eyes open again you're surprised to find yourself back home in your own bed, bright light pouring in through the window. You squint your eyes from the brightness as you look around the room and realise Jesper is asleep in the chair next to you, his head resting on the edge of your bed. You reach out and gently poke him awake. He yawns as he sits up. It takes him a moment to register that you are also awake.
“Y/N! Are you okay? How are you feeling?”
“Like I’ve done a full body workout. Ugh, why does everything ache?!”
“How much do you remember?” Jesper asks
“Fighting with a guard. Falling to the floor. He was going to shoot me…”
“He wasn’t quick enough” Jesper winks as he blows the tip of his gun, spins it around his finger and shoves it in his pocket. You smile at him, but then your eye is drawn to something behind him. A cane resting against the wall. Your memories come flooding back and yo sit up suddenly panicked.
“Where Kaz?! Is he okay?!”
“Y/N, you need to calm down. You're still weak”
“Where is he?!”
“He’s…” Jesper starts but is cut off.
“Here” Kaz appears at the door “I’m here”
You jump out of bed quicker than your legs can carry you and stumble into his arms. He grabs you in his gloved hands and Jesper rushes to you, helping Kaz hold you up and lead you back to bed. Once he’s sure your safe he lets go of you, taking a small step back. Jesper sits next to you, arm around your shoulder as you cant stop the tears flooding down your face.
“I thought you were dead” you cry
“I thought YOU were dead” Kaz replies “when I saw Jesper carrying your lifeless body, it took me back to Jor…” he trails off, unable to finish. He takes a steadying breath “I’m glad you're okay”
“Me too.” You say wiping your face “and I'm sorry. I guess you were right, I was too weak to go on that mission. I’m useless.”
Kaz looks at you for a moment before looking to Jesper, silently asking him to leave. Jesper gives your shoulder a quick squeeze before getting up and leaving the room. Kaz fills the empty space next to you on the bed, taking a deep breath before placing his hand on yours.
“You are not useless Y/N. You are brilliant.” He says and you look at him “I was watching you distract those guards and I was so proud. You live with your condition every single day and you never let it hold you back. On my darkest days I look at you and you inspire me to keep going, because if you can do it then so can I.”
You give him a small, genuine smile which he returns as he squeezes your hand affectionately.
“Now you go back to sleep, get your strength back up and I’ll check on you later” he releases your hand and moves to the door.
“Thank you Kaz” you say as you get yourself comfy.
“Don't ever think you are useless Y/N” he says when he stops at the door and turns back to you “that’s an order”
You let out a small laugh as you salute him and he rolls his eyes. But you see the smile creep onto his face before he leaves and you drift back into a peaceful sleep.
Way Down We Go
Arvin Russell x fem!reader
warnings: well, just about everything from the movie is mentioned, death/murder/suicide, (non-descriptive) sex, pregnancy mention,
a/n: im begging you to read this in a southern accent - i did change it up JUST a little i hope thats okay (y/n was just w/ arvin when he did some of the stuff he did)
prompt: anonymous: “uhm, oneshot for being arvin russell’s girlfriend and him coming back for you after he kills the sergeant? and maybe you two run away and get married and name your first kid after lenora?”
Tumblr media
Soon enough, you and Arvin needed to split from your boyfriend’s hometown, Knockemstiff. He’d just shot down the sheriff and you weren’t sure if any authorities were going to believe your story. You two had to run.
“I’m so sorry, y/n. ‘Shoulda never got you involved in any ‘a this.” Arvin was beating himself up as the two of you dragged your feet on the side of the road, hoping you’d find a less murderous ride along the way.
“Don’t you dare apologize, Arvin. They all had it comin’ and you know I wasn’t gonna let you go off alone.” You halted your step in the grass and grabbed your boyfriend by the bicep, forcing him to stop, as well. He hesitated to turn around and look you in the eye, but when he slowly did, you could see tears brimming in his eyes. You’d be a liar if you said you didn’t want to do the same, but someone needed to have a level head right now, and after everything Arvin just had to do, you were prepared to take that responsibility. “Baby, we’re gonna be fine, I just know it.”
“I don’t believe that for a second.” He mumbled as the tears began to flow. Your hands found themselves gliding up his dirty arms and shirt, finally reaching his clenched jaw and helping him to relax. “You’re so good to me an’ I just made our lives so much harder.”
“So we start somewhere new, okay? We’ll take a ride with someone on the interstate, make it to Georgia or Florida. I’ve been hearin’ some good things ‘bout Florida, they’ve got it all.” Arvin nearly cracked a smile at your optimism, he never knew how you’d be able to find light such a dark situation.
“I was thinkin’ about doing what my daddy did all them years ago.” He mumbled to you, as if he were unsure about going down that path.
“You gon’ keep on going or leave me hangin’ over here? You never talk about your father, tell me something new.” You pushed on, finally getting a smile out of him as the two of you continued your trek away from trouble.
“Well, he met a girl, fell in love, settled down far from home...” Arvin told you, trying to remember wha his mother’s face looked like.
“You’ve done two ‘a those things so far, go on.” You laced your fingers through his and gently swung your arms back and forth with each step.
“They started a family.” He said, looking up at the cloudy sky. Almost as if he could see the two looking back down at him. “A family could be nice. Maybe a dog, too. Jack really was man’s best friend.”
“I could see us doin’ that. We just gotta find the right place and we’re as good as gold.” You nudged Arvin with your elbow and he forgot all about the heinous scenes he’d left in the hours before, all that was on his mind now was what your future may look like. And to him, it looked amazing. Maybe you two could put the past few weeks behind you and just be happy again. No more pain, no more fear, just love for one another.
“We’re gonna be okay, huh?” Arvin asked, knowing already that you’d agree. A good deal of time went by before any cars passed by, but sooner or later a Volkswagen slowed down beside you and let you hop in. You knew hippies were a little weird, but they loved peace more than anything on this planet. Your odds were pretty good, so you climbed right inside and took a seat in the back, making conversation with the driver while Arvin got some much-needed shut eye.
“So, where are you two lovebirds heading?” The long-haired man asked, thankfully snapping you out of a daze consisting of dropped bodies and images you may never get out of your head.
“Oh, nowhere in particular. Just south.” You nodded along with your answer and the hippie chuckled, liking the answer you gave him.
“Looking to get a little lost? I like it.” You were distracted by his long hair flying around with the window cracked open just a bit.
“Yeah, I guess we are. We were thinking Florida would be a nice place to go, ever been?” You sparked a bit of conversation.
“Definitely! ‘The Sunshine State,’ doesn’t that have a nice ring to it? You guys’ll love it, I’m tellin’ ya.” The man’s enthusiasm was no joke, you needed the upbeat attitude he gave you, though. For a while longer, you talked about travel and this mystery man’s eventful life, it gave you hope that this new life you were about to start wouldn’t be as scary as you were thinking.
—————
Arvin woke up from yet another nightmare, it seemed like it would never end. It’d been four damn years since you two had left Knockemstiff and ended up in a little town by the name of “Palatka.” It was home and it was just the way you liked it.
“Hey, hey? I’m right here, Arvin. We’re safe.” You raised your hand and placed it on his bare, sweating chest as it rasised and fell from his panting. His eyes finally adjusted to the darkness and he saw the concern on your face while he just stared back at you. “You alright there, hun?”
“Yeah...” Arvin sighed, wishing that he’d stop seeing the faces of the people he’d shot down all those years before, they always seemed to haunt him in his sleep. He leaned back against the wooden headboard he’d crafted himself and reached his hand out for yours. “Sorry, darlin’, I didn’t mean to wake you.” Your husband’s thumb trailed over the back of your right hand.
“It’s alright, I was just about to go check on Lenora anyways.” You gave him a kiss on the forehead and threw the covers off of yourself, swinging your legs off the side of the bed so you could get your slippers on. You shuffled out of your bedroom and across the squeaky floorboards, reaching the door of your daughter’s bedroom. Slowly cracking the door open, you tiptoed inside and found Lenora, still sound asleep in her bed.
She was a good namesake to her daddy’s late sister, you know she would’ve loved to meet her niece. What a shame it was, but at least you honored her memory the way you did. It was Arvin’s idea, after all. God, she looked so much more like Arvin every single day. You couldn’t help but smile as she let out a little moan while stretching in her sleep. And you couldn’t believe you created that, you were a mother with the man you loved most.
You made a stop in the kitchen real quick so that you could get your husband a glass of water, then went back on to your room. Arvin was now sitting there with his bedside lamp on, swiveling his head towards you as you came back inside and closed the door. “Water?”
“Please.” He reached out and grabbed the glass. “Thank you, y/n.” Arvin said into the glass before taking a sip and setting in down on the bare wood of the nightstand.
“Ahem.” You cleared your throat and cocked an eyebrow, leaving Avrin puzzled. “Coaster.”
“Right, sorry.” He lifted his glass up and put it on the coaster directly next to it. “There we go.” He told himself. You crawled back into bed and scooted closer to your husband, leaning your head on his shoulder and draping your arm across his body. He gently rubbed his rough, working hands over your upper arm and gave you a sweet kiss on the forehead. “How was Lenora?”
“She’s still asleep, thankfully.” You answered with a hopeful little smirk. Your daughter obviously wasn’t a sleeping angel every night.
“That sure is news.” He traced his finger back up your arm and to your chin, guiding it to move up so that you could face him. He placed his lips to yours and drew back ever-so-slightly. “You wanna fuck while we have a chance?”
“Yes, sir.” You whispered and he had spent no extra time jumping on top of you and getting right to work. Before becoming a parent, he never stopped to think about how he’d absolutely have to find the right time to do what he wanted, because the rest of that time was dedicated to caring for his kid in one way, shape or form. In the end, he didn’t mind a bit. Being a father and a husband were two things he’d loved more than life itself and he hoped that his parents would be proud of the man he’d become. But right now he just wanted to spend some time with his loving wife, and that’s that.
cancer- my chemical romance (covered by 21pilots)
relationship: tsukishima kei x reader
synopsis: she had cancer but he was oblivious to the signs. his last words?
warning: angst, illness, death, swearing, cheating
i don’t know the symptoms for cancer and this is my first fic so pls forgive me for any mistakes
Tumblr media
“you have cancer.”
it’s been a week. a week shes known she was sick. sitting on her desk, her face buried into her arms, looking off to the side.
“how do i tell him?”
“tell me what?” y/n visibly flinches at the sudden voice of her boyfriend, kei.
“oh nothing!” she says w a fake smile. how is she supposed to tell him. what was she supposed to tell him. that her hair was falling out? that she was potentially dying? he just shakes off her unusual behavior and sits across from her.
“so are you gonna come by practice later?” he asks her.
“ah i can’t I have uhhh” she trails off, “grocery shopping to do for my mom!” truth is she had a doctors appointment, but he didn’t have to know. she didn’t want to be a burden. since when did she do grocery shopping the tall blonde thought.
this suspicious behavior has become a daily thing, he noticed that she would run off right as the last school bell rings. until one day he saw her get in a car with another guy. so that’s why huh?
hey kei wanna go mall later?
sent at 1:47
said boy stares at the text from his girlfriend. he knew she was cheating so why not have some fun right?
sure
y/n arrives at the mall and she sees girls swarming her boyfriend. she pouts, but doesn’t get jealous as she trusts he won’t do such thing. she waits till the girls leave to approach him. tsukishima has a smirk evident on his face.
“where do you wanna go?”
“can we go to the costumes and cosmetics first?” she says with a smile. the morning of she witnesses the hair already falling out faster than she expected. he shrugs and mentally grins to himself as he sees her smile dropping at his blunt response.
“why do you need wigs? need new hair to look pretty?” his words stung her but she hid her expression.
“why don’t you just tell him?” y/n’s brother said standing at the door way.
“i just want to enjoy the rest of my time with him w/out.”
“but-” he was cut off by his sister walking past him and shutting the door.
“want to walk me home?” she asked. he replied with a shrug, heading towards her house. they got to her driveway when he saw the same car. the same car she got in with another guy.
“oh no he’s still here...” she says with fear when she saw that her brother’s car still in the driveway. fear that he might expose her secret. tsukishima looks at her with disgust, but she was to worried to notice. “you can just drop me here i can get to the door fine! bye kei! love you” she says running to her front door.
it’s been a week, more hair has fallen out, she had gotten permission to wear hats and her hoods from the faculties as they knew about her condition. but her boyfriend has surprisingly not noticed but someone did. his best friend, yamaguchi tadashi.
“are you okay y/n-chan?” the freckled boy asked with a worried visage.
“I’m going to tell you something, but you can’t tell anyone. not even kei” she trusted the boy as if he was her brother. “I have cancer.”
two months ago, she was diagnosed with cancer. but in the last two weeks, tsukishima became more distant. she became worried and went to his practice after school.
“is kei here?” everyone stared at her as if she has grown a third head. hinata then walks up and says something that made her heart drop.
“oh he just left with his girlfriend, who are you?” of course they didn’t know about her. she never went to his practices, she was too busy with her appointments.
“ah okay. sorry for the interruption!” she bows and takes her leave to look for her boyfriend. but stops when she sees the blonde making out and groping a girl from class 1-5. watching as they touch eachother as if they can’t be disrupted by anything. her eyes filling with tears and anger. she walks up to her boyfriend and punch him square on the jaw.
“ow! WHAT THE FUCK” he shifts his attention to his girlfriend that is shaking her hand to rid the pain. the commotion caused the team to come out of the gym. “WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOURE DOING YOU SLUT?” he yells at her. she was taken aback. slut? “YEAH DONT THINK I HAVENT SEEN YOU SNEAK AROUND WITH THAT BOY TOY OF YOURS?!”
his insults being cutoff with a slap. the sound resonates through the wind. “FUCK YOU TSUKISHIMA KEI!” with that she runs off to the direction of her house. yamaguchi then steps up.
“ARE YOU FUCKING DUMB?!? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?” punching the blond once again and grabbing his collar to bring his face close.
“IM DUMB?! SHES THE WHORE WHO FUCKING CHEATED!”
“SHES NOT CHEATING! GET IT THROUGH YOUR DAMN SKULL! SHE HAS CANCER, BUT YOURE TO DAMN BLIND TO SEE THE SIGNS! SHE COULDNT GO TO OUR PRACTICES BECAUSE HER APPOINTMENTS. DID YOU EVEN NOTICE HER HAIR FALLING OUT? SHE STARTED WEARING HATS AND WIGS BECAUSE YOU CALLED HER UGLY FOR BUYING WIGS! BUT NO. YOU DIDNT NOTICE BECAUSE YOU WERE THE ONE WHO WAS BUSY FUCKING OTHER GIRLS TO NOTICE.”
by this point, the rest of the boys are pulling them apart.
“w-what?” the blond was appalled. she had cancer? the wigs, the hats, coughs and hacks. it made sense now. “b-bu-but who was that guy she rides with?”
“her fucking brother who came back from the states to see her!” yamaguchi shakes the boys off him and starts walking away.
tsukishima starts sprinting to the direction of her house. why didn’t she tell him? how would he have known if she didn’t tell him?
he comes to a stop, when he sees an ambulance drive off from her house. the tall boy knocks on the door to see her mom open the door. “where’s y/n?” her mother starts crying. and he knew.
“let’s go to the hospital” he looks to see y/n’s brother heading down stairs with a coat. the blond nods and gets in the car with the h/c hair male.
“she didn’t want to tell you yanno? she wanted to enjoy the time she had left with you.” the car ride was silent. when they got to the hospital, the two men quickly jumps out and heads to the front desk. as they entered they saw her fragile figure barely holding on. her lips are chapped. her color is fading fast.
it’s been hours when they’ve arrived, she still hasn’t woken up. tsukishima looks at the time and realizes visiting hours are almost over.
“I’ll be back, okay?” leaning over to give her forehead a peck and exits out the door.
but he never went back, he couldn’t stand the view of seeing her so delicate, so pale, so tired. it’s been weeks since he has last seen her. but he remembered that all she wanted was to spend time with him.
putting on his shoes he gets up and heads to the hospital. he arrives at the front desk and requests to visit y/n. he was met with the most dreaded words he never knew he would ever be met with.
“im sorry sir, but it says that she didn’t make it” the lady at the front said.
the day of the rosary came, he didn’t want to face the fact that she was actually gone. tsukishima enters her house and passes the strawberry shortcake he has brought to her mother. in the middle of the rosary he walks up to y/n’s room.
her room was decorated with anime posters and many plants. there was a cork board on the wall, photos of all their dates and her friends. on her desk was a framed selfie of their trip to tokyo. tsukishima resting his chin on her shoulder pouting while she holds up a peace sign with a big smile on her face. next to the picture we’re two dinosaurs. one is a brachiosaurus and the other is a triceratops. she would always say that the two toys were them and always kept the two together.
he picks up the framed picture and takes out the picture. he wanted to remember her. as he was taking out the photo a note slips out. he glances down at the note and read aloud,
“hi kei bae!! if you’re reading this you wanted to keep the photo right? anyways im writing this just in case anything happens to me. oh yeah i have cancer! ta da!! yeah yeah it’s not a good thing but hey, I wanted to spend all my time with you. so pls grab the picture with this and the box under my bed. there should be more photos for you. well i guess this is it. sayonara kei. ♡
-love y/n
he grabs the box under her bed to see all the photos she has take throughout their relationship. what broke him the most was a dinosaur post-it note on the bottom. it read “i love you my dino boy<3”
he never got to say goodbye, he was scared for the closure. he wanted her warmth, her soft lips against his, her angelic laughs, his shoulder to lean on. she was always there for him. his last words to her was not “i love you” or “see you later” he just wanted to hold her in his arms one last time. holding the pictures in his arms, crying his eyes out.
“sayonara y/n♡”
...I’m sorry ^^;
X
Something wasn't right.
"It doesn't make sense," Cassian said; all of us gathered around the map laid out on the large table in the library. "I've rotated my most trusted legion across every single Illyrian camp since the summit, including the ones we know haven't sided with Kallon—just in case, and nothing."
Azriel shook his head, as equally astonished as Cassian was at the lack of intel they had been working tirelessly to achieve in the last couple of weeks.
"My spies haven't found anything either, on any front." He said, hazel eyes growing hard as they scanned over the maps and reports spread out before us.
Two months had officially passed since our summit meeting and our tenure of peace was now plagued by stress. In the months that passed, Cassian and Azriel worked together to keep a watchful eye on the traitors in our court—the latter keeping his network of spies focused on Keir and his Darkbringer army, while the former kept a strict watch on the rebellious Illyrian camp lords. As our second and third in command, Mor and Amren not only attended to their duties in Velaris, but also visited the Hewn City on mine and Rhys's behalf—a show of force and distraction while Azriel's spies lurked in the shadows. In the last few weeks, Rhys and I corresponded with the other High Lords and Eris, updating them on whatever intel we managed to gather, and them offering us any information they might have regarding the Autumn Court and promising to keep alert on their end.
But as of late, there was nothing. No movement whatsoever from Keir, Kallon, or Beron.
We initially received a report a couple of weeks following the summit that our steward had called for a stall in his plans, and because of that we assumed the trio were biding their time in order to regroup and organize new plans to strike before my due date—now a short twenty-odd weeks away, but it was taking them too long.
No, something definitely wasn't right, and we all knew it.
"Is it possible they're folding back on the coup?" Elain asked, amid the tense silence that had befallen us.
Nesta placed a hand on the back of her chair, standing just to her side with Cassian on the other. "Keir wouldn't just give up on killing Feyre, the High Lord, or their child," she said, as blunt as ever.
I grimaced and Mor threw her a disapproving stare, but Amren loosed a long-held breath through her nose.
"The girl is right. They aren't pulling back on their plans now, but they are plotting something." she said, turning her silver gaze to Rhys and me.
I sighed, an idle hand running along the line of my belly—a considerable size now that I was nearing the end of the second stage of pregnancy. The baby inside was mercifully calm in light of the topics we discussed, which I was thankful for since my other symptoms weren't; a dull headache creeping in at my temples since I awoke this morning, and my lower back muscles sore with my new weight.
I drummed my fingers on the tabletop, readjusting myself in the chair I sat in for the hundredth time since the start of our meeting. "Could Keir be plotting something on his own?" I asked as Rhys offered me a hand up, wanting to help mitigate some of the ache in my back and hips temporarily.
"It's possible," he answered as I took his hand, standing with a heavy sigh.
I kneaded a sore spot on my back as I turned to look at Cassian and Azriel—who were watching me with equal concern and glancing at my swollen stomach. "Your reports say that Kallon hasn't corresponded much lately with Keir?" I asked, addressing Azriel.
The shadowsinger cast a wary glance at my mate, something they had all begun doing recently anytime they had bad news to share—as if they were afraid the information would harm me or the baby. The only ones who didn't tip-toe around me were Amren and Nesta, and I was grateful for it. As increasingly uncomfortable as I was becoming the more my belly grew, my mood swings now tended to lean more and more towards irritation. The last thing I needed was everyone trying to handle me as if I were made of porcelain.
I sighed in frustration. "You don't need to coddle me, Az. None of you do. Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean I can't handle reading reports or operating during the threat of a coup." I snapped, harsher than I meant to.
I felt Rhys rest a hand on the small of my back; knowing he gave the spymaster a curt nod of approval, and Azriel, Mother bless him, dipped his head in apology. "You're right. Most of the messengers sent between them with letters or verbal messages have come from Kallon but have gone ignored in the last few weeks."
"From what I've seen, the stupid sot has been feeling slighted by that bastard and he's called off sending those imploring letters to the camp lords who haven't yet sided with him." Cassian added, "He's waiting for Keir."
"Because he knows he needs them," Mor scoffed.
"The steward is definitely concocting something," Amren said coolly and motioned to my sisters.
"Tell them what you saw, girl," she said to Elain.
We all turned to her, Nesta going rigid at her side—nails digging into the wood of Elain's chair.
"You saw something?" I asked her.
She frowned as she nodded, scanning the other faces in the room. "I had a vision the other night, of Vassa. She's our ally so I didn't think much of it at first, but last night the vision came to me again and it was...different," she explained, her eyes beginning to go vacant as she recalled the details.
"What happened in the vision?" Azriel asked, trying to gently coax her back in the conversation.
Her eyes were still distant as she turned her attention to him, as if he grounded her during these moments. "I saw just her face at first, she looked distraught as she gave some kind of warning. I couldn't make out the exact words," she said, shame quivering her voice as she looked at her lap.
"That's okay, Elain." Azriel said, stepping closer to her side and to my surprise, Nesta didn't flinch. "What else?" he asked again.
Elain sighed shakily. "Then, last night...I saw her face again, giving the same warning, and then...a weeping firebird sweeping over land before setting fire to it."
My eyes went wide, turning to look at Rhys as we both recalled the connection her new vision had with the previous one from months ago. A great-winged animal sweeping over a grassy knoll. Only now we knew that animal was a firebird, one that Elain also warned us of during the war. We all must've had the same realization, because within seconds we exchanged worried glances. Silent conversations passing mind-to-mind between my mate and his brothers, as well as Mor and Amren.
"I'm sorry," Elain whispered, staring at her lap again. "For not saying anything sooner, I just assumed her warning was about the coup. I didn't get any other details until I saw it in my dreams."
"You didn't do anything wrong Elain," I said reassuringly. "We're all working with the information we have."
Rhys nodded. "Cassian and Azriel will go to the Mortal Lands and check in with Vassa, Jurian and Lucien. I'll send a letter ahead of them, and we can hope we get there before Keir does."
"You think Keir will move against the Mortal Lands?" Nesta asked, silent horror hidden behind those blue-grey eyes.
"He knows of the ties Lucien has with them. If he can take them down and sever whatever bond Lucien has with the Queen before they can ally with us against him, that's an advantage for him with the Autumn Court," Cassian explained.
"We need to monitor them as well," I added quickly. "In case Beron decides to work on Keir's behalf to sweeten the pot in whatever deal they've struck."
"I'll send my spies," Azriel said, nodding at me in acknowledgement.
"You'll both leave tomorrow," Rhys ordered them. His violet eyes were hardened, wings flaring slightly as they began detailing out new plans.
Go with them. I urged through the bond.
The hand that held my waist only tightened slightly. I can't leave you behind, Feyre, not with something like this brewing
I'll be safe with Mor and Amren here in Velaris.
I'm going to take you and your sisters to the Cabin until we get word back from Cassian and Azriel. Mor and Amren can guard Velaris
Or you can leave me and my sisters at the Cabin and meet up with Azriel and Cassian.
He gave me a weary look, but I squeezed his hand. The three of us will be safe there. No one outside our family knows of its location, and no one can winnow inside. We'll be taken care of until you three return, and you can keep me updated.
I saw the contemplation swirl in his violet eyes, knew that behind his adamant shields he saw the sense in my words but was still reluctant. His hand came to rest on my stomach carefully, earning a delightful kick from our son—who seemed to have awoken during our silent exchange.
I can't leave you. And even through the bond I could hear the strain in his voice.
I sighed, but before I could argue further, Cassian cleared his throat. "We'd be better suited if we had the High Lord at our side, since the High Lady is incapacitated at the moment."
Azriel nodded in agreement, "If there is a threat to the Mortal Lands, we'll need a more competent diplomat present to warn and ready them for the strike."
Rhys's gaze hardened again as he met his brothers urging stares. They knew as well as I did that my mate was on edge, his nerves only growing more unsettled in recent weeks, making him more protective of me and our child. He hardly left my side at all these past few months, so the opportunity to go out and perform his duties as High Lord would help alleviate the tension growing through our bond once again.
I squeezed his hand reassuringly, those hardened violet eyes growing softer as they met with mine. We'll be waiting here, safe, until you come back. Go warn our friends in the Mortal Lands, and then we can finally take care of Keir.
His eyes landed on my stomach once again before he loosed a breath through his nostrils and nodded in acknowledgement at his brothers.
XXX
"Do you think she's alright?" Elain asked.
Her quiet inquiry interrupted my stormy thoughts as I stared out the window of the sitting room. Only a couple of hours had passed since the Illyrian brothers carried us up to the safety of the cabin; Cassian holding Nesta, Azriel taking a flushed Elain, and Rhys hauling me and my swollen belly. I had made a sly comment about the burden of my new weight to Rhys in the hopes to ease his apprehensiveness and was glad when he smugly reassured me of his otherworldly strength with his trademark feline grin, before depositing me on the steps leading to the Cabin. My heart tugged at the memory of the two of us having escaped here only weeks before, but we all knew this was the safest place for me and my sisters at the moment. Mor and Amren remained in Velaris, as we had all agreed on, and moved to monitor the city from the House of Wind as an extra precautionary step.
I turned away from the window, having stared at the mountains surrounding us since Rhys kissed me and my belly goodbye. "Vassa is fierce, and well-guarded thanks to Lucien and Jurian," I reassured her.
"She's still got that curse," Nesta scoffed from her place on the loveseat across from where Elain sat.
Elain frowned and I glared at my eldest sister. "Yes, but thanks to the bargain father made for her temporary release, we've been able to extend it and she hasn't been forced into her firebird form in over a decade," I explained.
"But my visions haven't been wrong yet. What if she is forced into it?" Elain pressed.
I sighed and crossed over to where she sat, using the arm of the chair to help lower myself onto the plush seat—noting how cautiously Nesta eyed my movements. "We still don't know what your vision meant. Perhaps Vassa shifts into her firebird form in order to aid us in the coup?"
"She was weeping as she set the fire," Nesta interjected.
I sighed and pressed a hand against my temple, messaging it lightly in an attempt to relieve the stress beginning to build up. Elain leaned over to rest her hand over mine gently, "Let's talk about something else. You were right, Vassa is strong and we won't know anything until Rhysand, and the others return."
I nodded in agreement with a faint smile, moving my hand to rest on my stomach. "How have you been feeling? You've been so busy serving as High Lady that Nesta and I haven't seen you much lately," she asked.
Nesta interrupted before I had a chance to reassure her. "You need to allow yourself more time to rest. You're nearing the end stages of your pregnancy, and the strain of all of this isn't good for your youngling. Let that High Lord and assistant of yours take care of matters from now on," she scolded.
Elain and I balked at her, equally shocked that she was being so stern with me again. I had noticed fairly early in my pregnancy that Nesta was growing increasingly vigilant of me—concerning herself more with the welfare of the child I carried, and after what Cassian revealed to me weeks ago, I now understood why. Despite her brute facade, she cared about me and worried about the fate of my child; perhaps as any older sister would.
I swallowed the irrational tears and sob that built up in my throat, a reaction I now involuntarily had every so often, and sat up a little straighter. "It's not that simple," I reasoned. "I'm still High Lady and given the concerning reports and lack of intel we've obtained in the last couple weeks, I've had to work together with Rhys to reach out to the other courts and meet with the rest of the inner circle."
"They're all thinking the same thing, except maybe Amren. They want you to rest more and let them handle this situation," Nesta went on. "They're just too scared to hurt your feelings or upset you, or whatever idiotic reason it is, not to tell you."
"Oh, but you aren't afraid to do any of that, are you?" I asked a bit bitterly—beginning to second guess my earlier sentiments.
"I'm not, because I see the toll this pregnancy is having on you and unlike the others, I'm not afraid to bring it up and say what needs to be said." She argued, hands placed on her lap with striking elegance—even though her words were anything but.
I hardened my stare at her, our identical blue-grey eyes cold with contempt; hers out of unyielding concern, and mine out of...reluctant understanding. It was no secret that my pregnancy was difficult, increasingly so since the early stages. There were periods of time when I felt fine, energetic and able to accomplish multiple tasks in a day, but there were still days where the lingering nausea and fatigue left me in bed for hours at a time. That, accompanied by the new onslaught of pelvic pains, back aches, and my rush of hormones caused me to be frequently disgruntled. Rhys, being the overbearing mother-hen he always tended to be whenever I felt the least bit poorly, did his best to console me. The others did as well, to the point where I believed they were coddling me. It wasn't until now that I realized they only wanted me to remain at ease; knowing the risk of any stress on me or the baby could be dangerous. Madja had warned us of what complications could arise from that burden, and I knew now that they were all just trying to prevent it.
My gaze cracked as tears sprang back into my eyes and turned away as they burned. I took a few steadying breaths, Elain's hand coming to my shoulder to help soothe me as she slid closer to me on our shared seat. "I didn't try insisting I go with them to the Mortal Lands or anything. I'm letting them handle the situation, but as High Lady I need to oversee the operations."
"Yes, but you're burdening yourself with worry." Elain offered softly. "You've been taking on work that you could leave to your mate or the others."
"Like that meeting with Tamlin." Nesta reminded me and I frowned, remembering the toll that trip had taken on me at the time.
"Or insisting you attend all the meetings on the reports Cassian and Azriel have gathered. Rhys can attend to those and fill you in later," Elain added.
"The point is that you need to delegate more. You were off to a good start after the summit meeting, coming here with your mate and spending time with the others, but you've overloaded yourself far too much over the last couple of weeks." Nesta concluded.
I sighed, leaning back to rest against the plush seat and ran my hands over my protruding stomach, feeling my son beginning to stir from the occasional nap he took in the warmth and protection my womb offered. Every point they brought up was right; while we all had allowed ourselves a moment of peace following the summit, I had taken the anxiety of the recent reports Cassian and Azriel gathered and threw myself back into working to find a solution. Rhys had as well, but I knew there were times he wished I would retire to our room or at least sit when my aches and pains reared its ugly head.
"I know you two are right, it's just...difficult, at times. I am High Lady; my duty is to my court—alongside Rhys." I explained.
"But he isn't pregnant. You are, and your first duty is to the child you carry," Nesta insisted.
"The child who will be the heir to the Night Court," Elain said.
I nodded in understanding, but before I could agree with them, there was a frantic pounding at the door, followed by Mor's panicked voice behind it.
"Feyre, it's us. Let us in," she said.
Nesta was the first to stand and rather than take the hand I stuck out to help me up, she strode over to the cabin door, checked to make sure it was really Mor the voice belonged to and opened it. Elain helped me to my feet as Mor and Amren strode into the room with equal grim expressions. I noted both of their clothes were dirty, some scrapes and fresh cuts healing on their own that decorated their face and arms—my heart squeezed.
"What's wrong, what happened?" I asked, my voice sounding strangled.
Mor's brown eyes were broken as they met mine and she swallowed, "Vassa showed up on the front steps of the house, beaten and bruised, and crying...as she warned us to leave."
My heart nearly stopped, and I felt Elain go rigid beside me; her hand coming to cover her mouth in horror. "We tried to ask her what was wrong, and what happened back in the Mortal Lands to have brought her here now, but-" Mor began but stopped, her throat bobbing.
"She kept warning us to leave before anyone got hurt, before you got hurt, and her face went blank. She turned and transitioned to her firebird form, leaping to the skies...and began setting Velaris aflame," Amren finished bitterly.
I couldn't hold steady on my feet and I stumbled back into Elain's arms as my head began to spin—speechless. Velaris was on fire. Velaris, my home, was under attack again.
"Did you...is she...what…?" I couldn't even manage my thoughts as Elain held me upright.
Mor stepped forward and took hold of my arms, steadying me. "She disappeared after a few minutes, but not before setting many of the buildings along the Sidra on fire."
The Rainbow. Vassa had set the Rainbow of Velaris aflame.
"We sent word to Rhysand and the others but haven't heard anything back yet. I also sent word to Varian, perhaps Tarquin can help put out the flames," Amren said.
"W-What?" I asked breathlessly, my chest heaving. "The fires haven't been put out yet?!"
"It's spread quickly, we're doing our best, but without Cassian and Azriel to gather the Illyrian force…" Mor explained and our eyes met in mutual understanding.
I was the one they could turn to—rely on.
"Take me back," I ordered, still reeling. "I'll put out the flames myself. We can't wait for Tarquin or anyone else."
"Feyre, you can't use-" Nesta began but I snapped at her with a feral growl I hardly believed came from my own throat.
"This is my court. My home. I am High Lady and I demand you take me back now." I said, addressing them all.
Mor and Amren exchanged hesitant glances before the former spoke up. "I'd have to winnow you there Feyre, and you know the effect it has on you. You could faint and have to recuperate, there isn't enough time for that. Even if you could use your powers," she tried to reason.
"So we wait here and do nothing?!" I exclaimed, turning away from her hold on me and striding to the window.
I could see nothing from here, but as I closed my eyes the memories of the last attack flashed behind my lids. The screams of agony and despair as my people were attacked—ripped to shreds by the army of the Attor from Hybern. Nausea roiled in my gut as I reached down the bond.
Rhys. Where are you?
I was met with silence, and I could only guess what horrors my mate and his brothers were facing in the Mortal realm—for him to block me out. If Vassa had been here, who knew what threat had been made and who had orchestrated it all. My heart pounded as my power awakened inside of me, boiling in my veins and I tried not to tap into them as I felt the slight twinge of pain in my abdomen—until thoughts of Velaris kept invading my thoughts. The screams echoing in my head, trying to imagine those beautiful buildings now on fire. Thoughts of Ressina and our studio, of the children she was teaching, those innocents.
Everyone in Velaris was innocent, and they were on fire. I had to do something.
Dosomething.Dosomething.Dosomething
I couldn't hear whatever conversation was happening between my sisters, Mor, and Amren as I lingered by the window. All I could do was turn back to them, briefly meeting Mor's gaze before those brown eyes widened in realization. She opened her mouth to protest, but she was too late. In the blink of an eye, I became darkness—tapping into my power that had gone untouched for months, I winnowed onto the front courtyard of the estate that sat along the Sidra's edge. I stumbled forward on my hands and knees as my head spun, my ears roaring with the blood rushing to my head and it took every effort within me not to faint—to seize the darkness that threatened to overcome me and push it back.
My heart pounded, the pain thundering throughout my entire body, resounding excruciatingly in my head as I forced myself to stay conscious and I was finally able to raise my eyes to the nightmare before me. I saw the orange and red of the flames reflected in the river first, barely able to hear the screaming as I saw each and every building lining the Sidra ablaze. From my position in the courtyard, I could see the figures of citizens scrambling to put out the flames; could see the number of buildings extending backwards that were already lit. I sobbed as another painful twinge ripped through my abdomen, causing me to turn my head and vomit in the grass.
Sobbing again, I closed my eyes and felt my power simmering rather than boiling. Just enough to breathe it into my core as I raised a single hand in the air and slammed it back onto the ground with a lethal smack. Once again, as it had so many years ago, the Sidra rose in response and I summoned just enough strength to lean back onto my knees—raising both of my hands in the air above my head as I became the river. Shaking, I slowly stood, keeping my arms raised as a wall of water rose with me; expanding deep and wide before I walked forward.
Suddenly, it felt as if my abdomen was being ripped to shreds and I screamed, doubling over and sending that wall of water forward and over those buildings. I didn't have time to pray to the Mother, the Cauldron, anything in hopes that it had been enough to snuff out the flames before I was seized again with the pain that tore through my core. I gasped in breaths as I gripped my stomach with one hand and fell onto my knees—catching myself with the other.
No, no, no. Please…
I felt a trickle of liquid that quickly began to spread at the apex of my thighs and sobbed as I reached a hand under the band of my pants and touched my thigh. I screamed again as the agony ripped through my abdomen again and fell onto my side. I felt the darkness beginning to ebb around my vision, the pain going with it as I raised that shaky hand to my face. The last thing I saw before my world went entirely dark was bright red blood coating my fingers.
Thing Don’t always go to Plan
Hello Guys!!! So i know it’s been a minute but I’m back. I have 2 fics finished and am working on 2 more. These are all requested so one of the reason’s it’s taking me a minute is because I really want to try and do it Justice. So I hope It’s good!!
Requested: Yes
I was thinking something about the reader being Bobby's sister and part of the band. She died with them and gets pissed off about Bobby not giving credit. Reggie comforts her in that scene and she helps them haunt him. She also comforts him when he finds out about his house. (It would be gold if she says something about "if I was alive I would never allow my niece to be like that") At the end, when they're getting shocked and almost disappearing, Reggie gets really worried about her because she's having it harder than them. When they get stronger after that last scene, Reggie just kisses her and everyone is shocked.
OK. So I changed it a bit. Hope that's OK and I hope this is good! I've been working on it for what feels like forever! Just with 2 jobs and everything else going on its been hard.
There are some Time Skips. You have been warned!!
Tumblr media
*Hollywood 1995*
*after rehearsals*
Luke was talking about how the place will be packed tonight. You walk up to the stage while Alex is being modest
"you know, Reggie's right. Embrace your awesomeness for once!" You say as they all look at you and smile. Alex finally agrees that he was awesome!
"Hey y/n, were gonna go get street dogs, wanna come?" Reggie asks you. You can't say no to Reggie. You may have had a bit of a crush on him for the past 3 years, no big deal.
"Yeah I'll go! Bobby you coming?" You ask your twin brother. You see him not paying attention and staring at the gorgeous bartender, rose.
"Bobby! Leave her alone!" He ignores me as they all walk up to her. Bobby says something about being a vegetarian. you laugh.
 "He had a hamburger for lunch, Rose. Don't let my brother fool you." You say as Bobby gives you a glare. You and the boys leave Bobby to go get street dogs.
 *time skip 25 years later*
 *After Julie meets the band and y/n*
“Where is Luke? He should be back..” you didn’t even get to finish your sentence when Luke popped
“Hey guys…..Julie!!” Luke says surprised. Julie looks at him and smiles.
“Grab your guitar. We're working on that song for the dance.” as they were about to rehearse You got an idea.
"Hey Luke. Why don't you, when done rehearsing, show Julie some sunset curve songs!! Im sure she would like that!" You said and Julie got excited
"oh. Show me now!" She said and Luke started playing the opening riff to one of their songs and Julie didn't look impressed.
"So you want to sample?" Julie said. We all looked at her confused.
"What do you mean sample? These are original sunset curve songs." Luke said. Getting anxious.
 "No. Its a original Trevor Wilson song. Here. I can show you." She says, pulling up the site. You almost pass out.
"That's Bobby. Guys. It's bobby." You said. Getting mad. You read through a list of the songs and just continued to get mad. You were fuming. How could he! How dare he!! Luke was telling Julie that these were his songs.
"Crooked teeth?" Julie asked.
 "Luke wrote that about Reggie." Alex said
"hey. I thought it was about you! I don't like that song any more." Reggie says pouting. You go over to him and rub his back.
"His actual name is Bobby. And he was my brother. Im so pissed!!! Where does he live Julie." You ask. She shows you guys and next thing you know, you and the boys are in Bobby's place. You look around and Luke sees a platinum album with his song title.
"My name is Luke? MY NAME IS LUKE!" he says. Fuming.
"We need to do something guys. He can't continue to get away with this!!" You say as you see Bobby walking up the stairs. You follow. You guys start to prank him. As you go to turn on the shower, the mirror steams up.
 “Hello, Brother?” you write on the bathroom mirror. He gets scared and runs back into the bedroom trying to open the door. Where he sees a piece of paper hanging there. "How could you steal those songs! You had no right!" It read. He got even more freaked out and tried to open the door. But it wasn't budging.
"Let me out!" Bobby screamed. So Alex let the door go and we all laughed.
"Honey. I'm going to see my therapist." He says to his daughter.
"I have a niece?" You say. Walking into the living room to see Flynn sitting with a boy and a girl. I look at her. "Wait. Carrie is my niece? She's so mean! If I was alive, I would never let her act like that!" You say to no one In particular. You shake your head and notice Julie out back with the guys who are mooning Bobby.
"Guys. Cut it out. He can't see you. And I don't want to see your butts. Pretty sure Julie doesn't either!" You say to them. "Guys. We have music now. You guys and me! The best way to get back at Trevor is to make this band happen. Please. Don't do anything stupid." Julie says. "We won't. We promise we will be there at 9." They say.
"I'm gonna stay with Julie. But remember, 9pm. Seriously guys. This is important!"
 *time skip to when they arrive at the dance*
 "Julie. We're here! Let's rock…" Reggie says. Before he has a chance to say anymore he's looking around. They realized they were too late.
"Julie. We are so sorry!" Luke says.
 "Yeah. We just… lost track of time!" Alex says
"and the twins." Reggie says. You give him this look. And shake your head.
"You guys knew how important this was for her. And yet you blow it off by going to some club where there are twins and what for? All so you can try and get revenge on bobby? How did that work out for you?" You say to them. Sure you were mad but you were more disappointed.
"Give Julie time. This was so embarrassing for her. You know that right? The only thing worse than getting stood up, is having your heart broken." You say. They look at you as you look at Reggie
"you promised. All of you. And you, Reggie, promised that you wouldn't get distracted by other women! What about me? Do I mean nothing to you? Was i just conveniently there?" You say to Reggie. Tears streaming down your face.
"Ya know. Just forget it. You guys have a lot of apologizing to do to Julie if you want her back. You really hurt her!" You say, poofing away.
*time skip to the Orpheum after the performance*
 You go to find Julie backstage and congratulate her when you see her. Your heart shatters.
 "Are they...gone?" You say to her. Sure your relationship with Reggie has been rocky but you didn't even have enough time to fix it. And now they were gone. And you were alone. You didn't have your boys anymore.
"I think so. I think…..they crossed over." She says. But you're just confused.
"Then why didn't I go with them? I came with them, I should have left with them. Right?" You said. Julie just shrugged. When we got back to her place. We went to the garage.
"Its weird. To think they're gone. And I'm still here! I never got to tell Reggie how I felt. I'll never see any of them again. I'm alone." You say to Julie. She looks at you. You look like you needed a hug.
" you still have me. I love the guys to. But I hope they found peace. Now I'm gonna help you. We will get through this. You are not alone. Im here!" She says to you. All of a sudden you both hear a groan.
 "We love you guys t0o." You hear Luke say. You both gasp and turn on the lights. There they lay. Your boys. In pain on the floor. They get shocked again.
 "Please guys. Just go. Join Caleb so you aren't in pain anymore. Please! Save yourselves. For me." Julie says crying. I nod.
"I'll go with you guys! We can all 4 go! Please." You say. Reggie just stands up and shakes his head.
"No. We can't go back there." Reggie says. Alex nods.
"No music is worth making, if it isn't with you Julie." Luke says crying. Julie runs up to him and hugs him. You all look shocked. Then a white light starts glowing from both of them.
"How can I feel you?" Julie says to Luke as they both just hold each other.
 "I don't know. But I don't feel so weak anymore." Luke says. Julie pulls the rest of us in for the hug. White light surrounds us. Then we look down and the marks on the guys arms disappear. "What do you think this means?" Julie says. "I don’t know. But can we try that hug thing one more time?" Alex says. You step out of it and just let them hug it out. You smile watching them. You had your boys. And now Julie. You were happy. As you were lost in thought. Reggie came up to you and pulled you out of your thoughts by kissing you. You're surprised and he pulls back. Thinking he did something wrong. You pull him back in for another kiss. This time you both respond. After what felt like forever, you pull away with a blush.
"What was that for?" Reggie asked. "I could ask the same thing. You kissed me first, remember." You say to him. He just smiles.
"I thought i lost you. And thinking that almost made me lose my mind. I don't know what I would do without you or the guys! You're my family. You're all I have! I..I love you Reggie. I have been since before we met." You say to him. He blushes and pulls you in for another kiss.
"I love you too. And don't you ever doubt that. Ok?" Reggie says, keeping you close. "Ok." You say. Whatever the future holds, we will go through it. Together.
Sorry for asking so much but if u dont mind i like to think that blossom sees boomer like his little bro so lile one day boomer having panic attack and blossom helping him. God i love my bby boy suffering
Oh don’t apologize! I love it! Ask as much as you want love. Fun fact, I used to have panic disorder from the age of 6- 17 so I know all about panic attacks. That wasn’t a very fun fact but uhhh, hope you enjoy!
Everything in this fic is from my own experience and I also took psychology as well.
So I’m going to write this with my version of my own attacks so what you see boomer having is equivalent to mine. From my own experience just so that no one comes for me, I can’t speak for about ten minutes and its had to move so im either sitting or under neath something like a desk. Once I can talk, I stutter and can barely form full sentences. Its important to know that panic attack and anxiety attacks are much different as the first doesn’t have triggers but the second does. Also the first thought you have when you going into a panic attack is thinking you are about to die, scary but its true.
Now that is out of the way, I hope you enjoy this fic and sorry that it took so long to do!
Pairing: Blossom and Boomer (non shipping)
Fandom: Powerpuff Girls
——
She never really knew how or why she heard it. Super hearing gave you many things but hearing the worlds smallest sob escape trembling lips was never something she usually picked up on.
It buzzed in her ear and the hairs on the back of her neck stood up with a slight chill. Soon her feet were taking her upstairs and it was the first time she had ignored the hall pass rule.
Being a hero meant she had to be ready for anything. Monster attacks, demons rising from the pits of hell and even gangs shooting up stores, it was all part of the deal, yet there were some problems that not even super powers could handle.
She opened the door to the roof slowly before stepping out and feeling the crisp and cool air of the morning. It would have been peaceful if someone wasn’t crying. Her foot steps were that of a ghost as she walked towards the other end and she dropped to her knees before placing a hand on a trembling shoulder.
“Boomer?” she asked quietly.
The blond boy looked up, his eyes had been blown wide and were rubbed red to the point that they might scar. His lips trembled as he said nothing stared at her with an empty look.
She felt frightened in that moment, not for her well being but his. She watched as his lips parted but nothing came out. He tried to speak but his voice was like a desert. Dry and bare.
His eyes searched for an answer, something to cling and grab onto so he could swim.
“Boomer, are you okay?” She asked knowing the answer already. Again, no words but blue eyes that begged for help.
His breathing picked up, hyperventilation coming into play and he brought his hands to his ears and slammed his foot down as if to drown out the silence. Blossom searched for any sign of what could have hurt him, she had to think. There was nothing, no monster or attack and he didn’t seem physically hurt, so what could-
Oh. Oh. OH.
She should have known what was happening the minute it she saw him. Her advanced psychology classes came into handy just now.
“Boomer.” She said softly and he opened his eyes. “I think you are having a panic attack.” His eyebrows furrowed and she bit her lip. “Okay maybe you are aware of that but I’m going to help you through this, okay?”
Boomer said nothing and she didn’t expect him too. She made a mental note that he was going non verbal during these and maybe that's why he couldn’t call for help.
Blossom dug through her bag for her notes and found it in record time. “Okay lets see, panic attacks.” She began to read. “The first thing that happens during an attack is the thought of death. Oh.” She frown. “There is a constant state of panic that last five to ten minutes but the after math of the fear could last hours. In order to stop a panic attack, the person experiencing it must wait it out or an extreme reaction can help quicken the process, other than that, there's nothing to do.” She scoffed. “Gee that was helpful.”
All she needed was a distraction, she could do that. She could tell a joke? No, she wasn’t good at those and only got a humorous reaction from her clumsiness. Instead of trying to figure it out, her phone was her next best guess.
“Don’t worry Boomer, I got you.” She smiled. She went to a few different sources and found one. “Ice in the mouth. It should trick your brain into thinking about it instead.” Blossom looked around. “Where can I get ice?”
She suddenly felt a finger poke at her cheek. She looked at Boomer who was point at his mouth then to her. Oh!
“My ice breath!” She cheered and held out her hand and carefully blowed until a small cube formed in her hand. “I’m not sure Boomer that might be a little gross-”
The cube was taken and before she could protest, it was in his mouth.
“Okay then, how's that working?” She questioned with a soft expression.
He looked from the left then to the right as he shifted the ice in his mouth. Slowly he opened his mouth, his voice breaking as he spoke.
“I-” He tried to say as tears formed in his eyes again.
Blossom put her hand on his and ushered him not to speak.
“Its okay, you don't have to say anything. You got through it, I’m sorry I was only here at the end but you did it, Boomer.” She said proudly.
He wiped his tears with his sleeve that was already soaked from earlier and leaned to grab her shoulder and pull her into a hug. She felt the tension from his shoulders fall instantly and his heart rate slower to a more desired rate as he hugged her tighter and held her for a moment. She didn’t dare budge but gave him a squeeze and ruffled his hair as he pulled away.
“Your face is awfully red, maybe you should go home.” She said as she helped him stand.
He nodded and grabbed his bag. “T-thank you.” He croaked. “No one has ever been with me before.” He said sadly.
She frowned. “Does Brick know?”
Boomer shifted on the balls of his feet. “No.”
“Do...do you have these often?” She was almost afraid to ask.
“Once a month maybe. Most of the time I’m at home, haven’t have a public one in a while.”
“Was there anything that could have caused it?”
He bit his lip and shrugged. “No. You read those books, they are random but Brick and Butch fighting constantly and the stress of school doesn’t help. But it's okay.” He offered her a smile. “That ice trick worked really well. Without you, I probably would have been there until school got out. I’m just really happy it was you and not anyone else.” He said honestly.
“I think you should tell your brothers. You can barely speak in that state and I would hate for something to happen when you couldn’t call out for anyone.”
He tightened his hold on his backpack and gulped. “I don’t want to. Its embarrassing. I’d rather keep it to myself, I can handle it.”
She knew there was no way he would budge. She exhaled and pulled his phone  from his pocket.
“hey what are-”
“Im installing a safety button. My sisters and I have a button that we can push that automatic lets us know when we are in danger and can’t speak. It's mostly for missions and things like that but this is just as important.” She handed him his phone back. “So when ever this happens and you feel like you need some help or someone to just sit there with you, I’m one click away.”
He stared at the button and placed his thumb over it. A beeping noise came from Blossoms phone and she pulled it out to silence it. “See like that.”
A wave of emotions came over Boomer as he began to tear up for the hundredth time. “Blossom, I don’t think you know how much this means to me.”
Blossom brought him in for another hug. “You won’t be alone any longer, I promise.”
She felt him nod against her shoulder and wiped the tear steaming down his cheek with her thumb. “Lets go get you check out to the office and sent home, you should rest.”
“Yeah. I’m a little dizzy.”
She wrapped her arm around his and the began to walk towards the office just as the bell rang.
“Damn it, I miss third period.” Boomer sighed.
“Its fine. Buttercup will give you the homework and I’ll get anything else you need.”
“You really don’t have to Bloss.”
“As a hero and more importantly, a friend, I will.” Blossom said.
“Boomer.” They heard a voice behind and she knew instantly it was Brick.
They stopped walking just as Brick came in front of them. “The hell are you doing?” Brick asked as he looked at their conjoined arms.
Boomer was about to say something but Blossom squeezed his arm.
“Hes not feeling well and I’m sending him home.” Blossom stated.
“You were fine this morning.” Brick narrowed his eyes. “Buttercup said you ditched class.”
“He didn’t ditch. Some of us have emotions and right now Boomer is not feeling too well, he can explain on his own time but as his now older sister, I am making him go home and rest.”
“What she said.” Boomer said just as he yawned.
Brick rolled his eyes and shrugged. “Fine, go home.”
Boomer gave him a small smile.
“Go on ahead, I’ll meet you in the office.” Blossom said as Boomer walked ahead.
“Is he really sick?” Brick asked and she could sense that he was really worried.
“I wouldn’t say that but its also not my place. Just go easy on him, he's having a hard time right now and I think having his brother help him through it would be good for both of you.” She reassured him.
“Alright, whatever. I’ll make sure Boomer is fine.”
Blossom smiled and kissed him quickly on the cheek. “You're so sweet.” She gushed dramatically.
Bricks face flushed slightly as he took her hand and tried to hide his smirk. “Yeah. Yeah. Let’s not be late to chemistry.”
“Would love too but I have to go use my puff powers to get my new little brother home.”
“Little brother?” Brick shook his head. “What are you adopting him next?”
“I just might.” She smiled. “I’ll see ya in class.” She winked as she headed towards the office.
She found Boomer sitting in one of the chairs. “If you could stop canoodling with my brother, I would like to leave, I got a massive headache and my face is a disaster from crying.”
“We weren’t canoodling.” She said under her breath as she went up to the office lady.
Boomer sat and watched as she talked. He felt better by a landslide since she came to help him and hearing her refer to him as a little brother made him a little more happy then he cared to admit. Watching Blossom talk and win over the woman made him smile as he hugged his arms together.
“Yeah, big sis would be nice.” He said to himself but he didn't miss the way her lips turned up into a small smile.
I hope you enjoyed! I actually really liked this prompt and sometimes its good to read things that can help you in daily life.
anything for yuta please! he is so hot in the latest comeback i cRI
im having a break currently and BOY im so happy to write for you!!! +++ i’d like to take this opportunity to ask you all to stay safe and healthy!
Tumblr media
yall know what’s gonna happen. yes you’ve guessed it right i’m doing a strangers to lovers au
so let’s assume you look like your twin bc well…. you’re twins
BUT your twin is the popular twin, and you’re mediocre. AND you two go to separate schools
you’re going to an all-girls’ science school because your life is already hectic you don’t wanna make it anymore hectic with men
your sister goes to a nearby art school. so you know what that means; f r a t  b o y s.
also you’ve been knew that your sister is a bit of a player herself
like you’ve had boys coming to your house, crying, begging for your sister to take him back
nonetheless, though, you still love each other and depend on each other a lot
like, whenever you feel like getting a boyfriend, she’d help you out (even though your relationship ends up in flames about 3 months later because the boys you dated are all fratboys that couldn’t appreciate you enough). and in return you’d help her a lot with getting ready for dates or with her studies
so one day
you were in your school, watching a bunch of girls do a practice match of volleyball with another school because you were bored
then you got a text from your sister saying that she needed help and that it was a level-10 threat
i mean,,,, LEVEL 10? that has to be serious
so you dashed tf out of your school
by a few minutes, you’d arrived to your school
your first instinct was to go to her classroom
so you did
and then you saw a bunch of men hogging around your sister’s desk
so you were like?? wtf is going on
“what are you guys doi-”
before you could even finish your sentence, one of them yelled, “there she is!”
and another yelled, “get her!”
you were freaked??? first of all, you actually put in efforts in how you look today, you’re not about to let some crazy men ruin it for you
so you ran for your life
as you were running you wonder what your sister had done for these men to decide to kill her
thanks to your teacher for forcing you to join tons of cross-country runs, you managed to get away from them
you ran into a room and in the midst of panic you knocked onto something, and it all fell apart
you cupped your mouth
from what you can see, you probably knocked over some arts student’s sculpture
there wasn’t anyone, though, so you started looking around to hide before any art student walks in
as you were running towards what looked like a storage room, someone stepped out
he had blonde hair, and was just crazily handsome
but that wasn’t the point
he saw you, and then looked over behind you
“what the- hey! did you do that?” he asked
you weren’t sure if he was angry, or if that’s just his normal face, but eitherway he was really handsome
you looked behind you to the broken sculpture again,  and shrugged hesitantly
“may…..be…..?” your voice squeaked at the end
he gave you a look, before walking past you, “if you haven’t noticed i had been working on this for a very long time, asshole.”
his intonation wasn’t angry, but it still left a sting when he said that
you felt guilty
“i’m sor-”
“oh shut it, yuna, save that sorry for my friends that you’ve fucked.” he scoffed as he started cleaning up your mess
you were confused for a second, before everything clicked
he must’ve mistook you for your sister
you laughed awkwardly
“um, i’m y/n, not yuna” you said
he stopped sweeping, and then shot you a confused glance
“since when did you have a whole identity change?” he asked sarcastically again
you’re usually annoyed when people gave you an attitude, but you weren’t this time. maybe because you deserved it……?
“oh no, yuna is yuna. i’m her twin!” you smiled.
he stopped again, and looked at you
he clicked his tongue, and then stared at you from your head to your toe
“well…. you do have a better fashion sense than your sister.” he said
you didn’t know why, but you felt supeeeeeer happy when he said that
“i didn’t know yuna had a twin?”
“oh i go to the all-girls’ school a few miles away from here.” you told him
by now, he was done cleaning up the mess and was working on another sculpture
you wonder why he wasn’t SO mad at the fact that you literally broke a what seemed like months of hardwork
you walked over to the blonde, but he didn’t give you any reaction
“why aren’t you throwing a tantrum that i broke your masterpiece?” you asked
he gave you a glance before going back to his new sculpture
he shrugged, “i felt like it was ugly anyways.” he casually said
you nodded, and then just watched him work on his clay in silence
“so why are you here?” he asked, breaking the silence
you chuckled, “some boys are chasing my sister. i guess this is what she meant when she was having a level-10 threat.”
the guy chuckled too
“aren’t you gonna help your sister?” he asked
you shook your head, “she can handle this on her own. i’m sure her new jock boyfriend will help her out.”
“oh yea, i’m sure johnny will. everyone’s scared of him” he agrees
“you’re not so bad, y/n. i’m yuta.” he held out his hand - that had so many clay on it
it seems like he knew exactly what he was doing as he gave you a smirk to see if you were gonna shake hands or not
you took this as a friendship test - or something - so you took his hand
he made a playful look of disgust, “ew, can’t believe you took my hand like that.” he laughed
you’re pretty sure that was the first time that you saw him properly smile, and he had a really pretty smile too.
“your smile is so pretty….. i wish mine was like yours. when i smile i look like a goat.” you said as you simultaneously rested your face onto your clay-ed hand
“oh GOD!” you yelled, and made yuta laugh
“dumbass!” he claimed happily, before wiping a finger onto your nose
“HEY!” you yelled, and wiped some onto his face
yuta didn’t flinch, instead he was simply laughing
after a moment of laughter, he sighed softly, and then looked at you
“just between the two of us, you’re the better twin, y/n” he confessed, and  you giggled
he smiled again, and went on with his work
“how do i get these off my face by the way?”
he chuckled again, “you can’t” he joked
but your dumbass, who has never had experience with arts, believed him
so you were panicking
“what the- um… shouldn’t we get these off our faces?” you asked, nudging him
he shook his head, “i like it on mine. it’s a concept of van gogh’s.”
your heart was really gonna sink in your stomach, he didn’t have as much clay on his face as you did!
“that’s nice, but we should get it off our faces”
you said, nudging him even more
then, he burst out laughing again.
“you’re so funny” he told you
“you can’t be this clueless. of course the clay can be removed. just wash it with water later, idiot” he said, and shook his head
“oh” you said, a little bit embarrassed
then, you got a call
you fished your phone out just to see your sister calling
you signaled yuta to be quiet and he nodded
yuta didn’t have to hear your sister’s voice to know that she was furious at you
“wow! thank god, right? hope you don’t break his heart too.” you said sarcastically
yuta laughed at your snarky attitude
“yes i’m at your school, but a bunch of boys started chasing me thinking i was you.” you explained
“you know what? don’t come home if you’re gonna stay angry!”
you ended the call and turned back to yuta
“well, she’s mad.” you told him, and he nodded
“i love her and all, but she’s the most annoying, irritating, picky, selfish person ever when she’s mad.” you scoffed
“you can always sleep in the streets tonight” he joked
you gave him a look, and he looked away, still thinking it was a decent joke
“just lock her out,” he suggested
“i can’t, she has a spare key.”
“that’s tragic”
you nodded in agreement
“you can come over to my house if you’re comfortable enough” he winked when you looked at him
“but i bet you won’t do it, you look like you don’t have the balls to stay a night with a boy” he shrugged casually as he kept his eyes onto his sculpture
“bet.” you said, and he genuinely looked shocked
“what the hell, are- are you serious?” he stammered, which you found funny
“i mean, sure, why not?”
“aren’t you worried that i might be a serial killer?” he asked
you shrugged as you leaned onto the table in front of him
“so you’re my own version of joe goldberg? sign me up” you joked
he laughed, “you’re brave”
you let out a peace sign as a respond
“we should order in some pizzas tonight then, my treat!” he happily exclaimed
you had been staring at his face for so long - since you first met him
and you can’t help but call him handsome in your mind each time too
you weren’t really that much of a believer in love at first sight but come on, now. yuta has the looks, the talents, the personality, the respect, the humour. and to top all of that he’s got a bit of an attitude. he was screaming boyfriend material into your ears at this point
when he realised you weren’t giving out a response to a pizza night, he froze
“are you on a- um- are you on a diet? do you wanna eat something with low calories instead or-”
taken aback you immediately refuse, “oh my god, no, no! pizza is fine for tonight.” you told him
he let out a sigh of relief
“my ex used to freak out whenever i pick something to eat and it’s not up to her standards, sorry.” he explained
you rolled your eyes at the thought, “that’s plain annoying.”
he nodded in agreement, “it’s a different story if she had something to eat in mind, but no. she lets me decide and then throws a tantrum when i suggest something simple, or some shit like that.” he grunted
you chuckled seeing him annoyed
“hey, what time is it, by the way?” he asked
you opened your phone, and showed it to him, it read 7:48 PM.
“you wanna get going? talking about food is making me hungry.” he explained
you nodded, “me too.”
he started cleaning up his desk, and you helped him out
afterwards, the two of you went to wash the clay out of your hands and faces, yuta not forgetting to splash some water onto you while you were at it
the campus was dark and half-empty by then, some students were giving you looks for splashing water at each other, and you had to admit it was a bit embarrassing
“my house is kinda close to the campus, do you wanna walk or do you wanna take the bus?” he asked
you took a while to think, “since we’re gonna get fat tonight, let’s do some exercise beforehand.” you suggested, and he was fine with it
so you two started walking together
it all felt ethereal to you
the weather was great, it was windy in the right ways, the sky still had a hint of purple and pink to it
you had asked yuta a question that had probably excite yuta, because he was talking with full enthusiasts, and you were enjoying yourself seeing him so passionate about something
then, he absentmindedly swung an arm around your shoulder
and you’re just there like ‘OwO’
but you didn’t want to ruin the moment since he was still talking so passionately
so you acted like you didn’t notice it and carried on with the conversation
plus, you were lowkey (or highkey) enjoying his warmth. he’s a very warm person >:(
then, you two reached his apartment, which looked really nice
when you entered his apartment, it was a bit messy, but it was still pretty
you came to a conclusion yuta was a man of STYLE!!!!
“sorry if my place doesn’t live up to your expectations” he said, but you immediately disagree
“this is a really nice place!” you assured
he kinda gave off a playful look before sitting next to you on the sofa, “so if i were to bring you here on a date, would you like it?” he asked
you were taken aback by the question, but that doesn’t mean a smile wasn’t going to form onto your face
you immediately looked away, still having a hard time removing the grin off of your face
“i don’t know, you haven’t asked me on a date to your house yet.” you told him
he laughed, before poking his head onto your shoulder to see your reaction, “so you want me to ask you out on a lazy date?” he asked
you pushed him away, completely embarrassed, “bro like, shut the fuck up” you said playfully, which made yuta burst out laughing
“your reactions to everything are just so cute.” he told you before softly letting a sigh out
“thanks, we’ve been knew that i’m cute.” you joked
yuta made a disgusted face jokingly too, which made you laugh out of embarrassment
both of you took a really long time to finish off your meals becuase both of you were busy criticizing the shitty netflix series that you were watching
by the time both of you were tired, it was already 4 in the morning
neither you nor yuta could believe that both of you had been talking for that long
but it was undeniable that both of you were enjoying each other’s companies so much
at this point you were ready to propose to this man
but OBVIOUSLY you didn’t wtf
also, by now, you were both cuddled up by the sofa while tall girl was playing on the tv
“do you wanna watch another movie after this?” he asked, you nodded absentmindedly even though you were falling asleep
“how are we gonna get to school tomorrow?” you mumbled groggily
yuta was silent for a while and then he said, “let’s just skip tomorrow!” he suggested
you were falling asleep, yes, but the thought of skipping school excites you
you didn’t always skip school, but you wouldn’t turn down an opportunity either
“that’d be great,” you told him, before laying your head back onto his shoulder
“you know what, y/n?” he asked, you hummed as a response
“let’s go out on a date tomorrow.” he whispered, and then lied his head onto yours
im sorry i really dont know how to do these intro things on top
warnings: none
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You knew it was the right thing to do. You couldn't remember much about the things that transpired on that day, but you knew you owed that man something in return. As you try to remember his features, his actions, his name- all you could remember was his eyes filled with desperation. You could get lost in a forest filled with beautiful trees but none of the trunks could compared to his brown colored eyes. His hooded eyes were full of emotions on that day, at that moment. You didn't know him, but in that split second that you saw his eyes you felt as if you knew him for the longest time. They say the eyes were the window to your soul, and in that moment you felt as if your soul and his were one.
You woke up to nothing. You knew this day will ultimately change you life. You were still confined in the hospital after the events that happened, and it was a miracle that you're still alive and breathing. Recovering from the injuries wasn't an easy process, but you managed to heal well. The only things you had on your body aside from your hospital gown were your hospital bracelet and 2 casts, one on your right and one on your left.
As you were playing with the plastic flower propped in your bedside table, you're mind was lost in thought of the man- his whereabouts, his current status, how he was coping, and the like. A soft knock interrupted your train of thought followed by the voice of a female nurse, nurse Jane as what you can recall, greeting you with a beaming smile.
"Good morning (Name)!" "Good morning nurse Jane." Your response held no emotion. Everything you can see- the color of her scrubs, the wheelchair she was bringing, the walls in your hospital room, the plastic flower- you took in for the last time, since today would be the last time you’d be able to see.
Nurse Jane, on the other hand, did not let your emotionless reply go unnoticed. "I know you wanted to do this, but are you really okay with it? If you wish not to proceed, I can always tell the hospital staff to discharge you instead." She suggested.
You chuckled, "Sure I won't be able to see from this day on, but I can manage. Besides, that man saved me, this is the least I can do to save him."
Nurse Jane nodded, "Okay. I will escort you to the surgery room now, I hope all will go well. We are all here for you in your recovery process." She then proceeded to help you get on the wheelchair.
The trip to the surgery room felt long though it only took 5 minutes. In that short amount of time, nurse Jane tried to engage some small talk with you, but you only tuned her out since you tried to take in everything for the last time. There were kids in the hallway, some smiling and some giving you questioning looks, but you didn't mind since this was the last time you'd see the beauty in all you could see. If you were being honest, you wanted to back out the moment you were in front of the surgery room. But then you remembered your reason as to why you chose to do this. You knew this was the right thing to do.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The man woke up to hushed voices in his hospital room. He knew he was okay, but one thing seemed very off to him.
"Guys?"  The hushed voices halted. "Can you please turn the lights on? I can't see you right now." The man requested.
"Um, hyung, you see..." Taehyun started off calmly,
The man could hear the uncertainty and worry in Taehyun's voice. I am perfectly fine right? He thought. But he couldn't help but think something was wrong, and he was starting to get anxious by the second, "What? What is it?"
Another unrecognizable voice started to speak, "You see-"
"-that's the doctor in-charge hyung-" Kai, who was right beside him all along, saw his question look and decided to answer his question in mind.
"-you managed to get out the accident unharmed, but unfortunately, you bumped your head pretty hard on the pole as you pulled that person you tried to save and you damaged some nerves connecting to your eyes. You're practically blind right now, and the only way to fix it is through surgery. Which is what we were discussing before you woke up."
"What?" he asked dumbfoundedly, "I can't possibly be blind right? I just bumped into the pole and blacked out, there's no way I could've possibly damage anything. What about our showcases? How can I practice when I can't see? Why can't I see?! What's happening?! This can't be a joke right? Haha nice joke guys you really can't be turning off the lights right now I could hear the cars outside-"
"That's the thing Yeonjun-hyung! You can only hear them, but you can't see them. You're literally in front of your window right now." Soobin said with a mixture of annoyance and sadness.
Yeonjun was devasted to find out that he was blind. Not only can't he see his fans anymore, but he can't live and not see the world he has yet to see. One year in to his career, and now this?
As Yeonjun thought of all the things that may happen from the on, he started to recall why he became like this in the first place. At the time he went in to save her, he perfectly mapped out how he could get out without any injury. He thought of pulling her back towards him to prevent anything else from happening, but what didn't cross his mind was how strong colliding bodies could cause a great imbalance to his stance. And that's how he bumped hard on the street light pole behind him, curse that street pole. He barely got her alive, but at least she was still alive as paramedics went in to get him and her.
"Hyung," Beomgyu spoke softly, "This isn't the end you know. The doctor said so himself, you have an option, and that's surgery. We just found out earlier that you had a donor. The donor requested we need not know him, or her, but we're grateful for his or her sacrifice. The fans will understand hyung, you'll need to rest after surgery though, but I know MOA will be supportive in your recovery process. So, what do you think? Will you go for it?"
Yeonjun, although blind, felt all eyes were on him now. He knew their eyes were filled with hope and desperation. He had to make a choice at that moment. He didn't want to deprive the donor of his or her sense of sight, being able to see was one of the greatest gifts given to human kind. But he also didn't want to disappoint or burden anyone, especially his groupmates and his fellow fans.
"Okay. I'll do it."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few months and many lifestyle adjustments later, you were back on track. Post-operation felt like hell, since you had to ask everyone for help in many things. It was a good thing your sister and friends were there for you every step of the way. After being discharged from the hospital, you immediately started braille lessons. If there's one thing you wanted to enhance significantly post-surgery, it was your sense of touch. That was one way you could identify someone or something, but you had to start from somewhere. You were yet to find out the name of the man, but you decided not to know who he was since there was no point- you wouldn't be able to see him.
And here you were, walking alongside your guide dog Neko in the park near your home. It was already afternoon and you just finished braille lessons a few minutes ago so you decided it was high time you'd go to the park, because why not? You passed by a cafe when you heard someone say, "No way. Bin, that was the girl I tried to-" and deciding not to eavesdrop even more, you continued on your walk towards the park. You ordered Neko to escort you to a bench near the fountain, it was the same bench you sat on that fateful day.
Flashback "For the last time Mom, I won't send in money unless I know the real reason behind it. Who knows, you might use it for drugs, again."
You had enough of your mom calling and begging. Although she promised to get well, you knew better that she wasn't getting any help.
Deciding that it was time you’d go home and take a rest, you stood up almost too stiffly and started walking back home. It was already late at night and you didn't pay that much attention to anything else. It all became muscle memory to you every time you walk back to your apartment, but you were still unaware with everything that was happening around you. You were so deep in thought that you didn't notice you were walking towards traffic. The last thing you heard was a long, loud honk, a voice calling out to you, and before you blacked out, you saw those deep, dark brown eyes.
End of flashback
Dark brown eyes. That was the only thing that stood out in your memory. You had the same shade of brown as what that man had, maybe that's why you were so captivated by them. But before you knew it, you blacked out. You were thinking hard and long about what happened on that day, and how that man saved you, but before you even had the chance to think deeper and deeper, you felt Neko wagging his tail beside you.
"What is it boy? What do you see?" You asked your dog, knowing damn well that he couldn't talk back to answer you. On heightened senses, you felt no sunlight casting on you, immediately thinking that someone was right in front of you. Assuming the worst that could happen, you immediately held on to Neko and, with a brave voice, started talking defensively.
"Look, I don't have much to give to you right now. I'm just trying to have a peaceful day, please don't take anything- even my dog- away from me. I only have a few dollars in me and no card and I just want to have a peaceful day please reconsider before you steal anything from me-"
"Woah woah woah. I'm not gonna do anything to you don't worry." That voice. It sounded familiar, "You look like someone I know and I just wanted to ask a few things, if you don't mind." very familiar. But you couldn't pinpoint who it was.
All doubt was gone and you trusted this man, whoever-he-is, so you complied to his request. "Sure, ask away."
"Um, this may sound very weird but, you look like the girl that I tried to save from a car crash a few months ago. I just wanted to make sure if it was you, though, the girl I saved months ago wasn't- here I say it- blind. But you really look like her though!-" The man said, rushing his last sentence in order to make it clear to you that he only had good intentions in his quest to find out if you were the girl he tried to rescue.
You'd be lying if you said you weren't shocked at all. Was this really the man that saved you? His voice did sound like that person who called out to you on the day of your crash. And to add to your thoughts, he wasn't ever supposed to see you again. You didn't want the man to know you were the one who donated your eyes for him. As your thoughts started to battle against each other, you asked him out of nowhere-
"Why did you save me that day?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeonjun was sitting on a cafe with his groupmates near the park where you lived. It was their day off, and they decided what better way to spend their day off than to go and relax at a cafe sipping Americano's. They were casually talking about everything that happened to them on the past few months, trying to catch up on anything that needed to be discussed. He was deep into the conversation between him and his groupmates when something caught his eye.
It was almost 4 in the afternoon when he saw you walk past them. The girl he saved a few months ago. Remembering that day, everything was still crystal clear in his mind.
Flashback Yeonjun was walking back to his dorm after a long tiring day, it was almost 10:30PM and he just finished polishing the dance break in which he had a hard time perfecting.
You walked past him in the opposite direction with a look of deep-thought. He didn't mind it though, but he wanted to know what your thoughts were behind those brown eyes. He couldn't believe someone had the same colored eyes as him, almost exactly the same. He knew himself too well, and when he saw your eyes, he felt as if the heavens just copy pasted his eyes to your face. It did have a difference, your eyes just had a glimmer that no one had, not even him. Maybe it was at that moment when he saw the emotions behind your eyes that you had that glimmer. That was technically the only difference you and him had, your eyes glimmer when you are feeling lots of emotions, his doesn't. And he believed in the same thing you ponder on, "the eyes are the windows ones soul."
As you walked past him, he saw every emotion behind it. It was filled mostly with anger mixed with sadness and confusion. He wanted to know more, but he wouldn't want to seem as if he was stalking you. He continued walking, and you continued walking as well. But he just had to look back at you, just to see if you were okay. You continued walking stiffly, but it was him who saw you walking towards traffic with a speeding car almost reaching you. He didn't hesitate to call you out, "Hey!", while running towards you.
"Shit." He said to himself. He couldn't stand the fact that in just a few seconds, a persons life will perish if he didn't do anything. He caught up to you on time, pulling you back towards him. He was happy that he got to you on time, but he didn't think it over properly either. He pulled you hard- almost too hard- towards him, and you ended up crashing hard on his chest resulting to him falling back and receiving a hard blow to his head by the pole behind him. You, on the other hand, also fell hard on the ground and fracturing your arm in the process. Your left leg, however, wasn't so lucky. Even if the man got there on time, the car already zoomed past you and in the middle of the heroic pull the man did, your left leg was still halfway through it and the car hit it.  It took a few seconds for you to realize that when the man pulled you, you also hit your head hard on a street sign pole, curse that damn pole. You tried so hard to see who the man was, but the only thing (and the last thing) you saw, were his brown eyes.
End of flashback
What confused him was the fact that you were blind. He remembered clearly that you weren’t blind. He had a look of panic and immediately cut off whoever was talking, "No way. Bin, that was the girl I tried to save a few months ago! Or so I think she is her. Look." Yeonjun finished off while pointing towards you. The boys' gazes followed to who he was pointing at and sure enough, you were blind and walking alongside Neko.
"Are you sure though?" Soobin responded, "I mean it could be someone who really looks like her, you couldn't be too sure about it. Not unless you ask."
"Wouldn't it be weird if I just went up to her and asked her straight up? What if it isn't her? Or am I just assuming things-" Yeonjun started to argue but was immediately cut-off by Taehyun who said something that weighed him down,
"Wait. Hyung, I know this sounds crazy but, remember when the doctor said that you had a donor? And that she or he wishes to not inform us who she or he is? I know this sounds really weird and out of the blue but, hypothetically speaking-"
"Again with the deep words?" Beomgyu interjects,
"-shutup seaweed brain-"
"Guys, can we let Taehyun speak?" Soobin sighs, scolding the two boys bickering.
"-hypothetically speaking, what if she really IS the girl you saved a few months back? And when she found out you were blind, she got so guilty and burdened and decided to donate her eyes for you?"
The boys fell silent over this thought. The scenario was highly possible, since Yeonjun insisted that you really resembled the girl he tried to save a few months back. They wouldn't want to think of it that way, because then they'd feel burdened at the thought as well. They were doubtful, he was doubtful, but there was only one way to find out.
"Hyung," all eyes went to look at Kai, who spoke up for the first time after the long silence, "we wouldn't be so sure though. The situation IS likely, but you just have to ask her. We'll wait here, don't worry."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That was all it took for Yeonjun to be there in front of you. After you asked that question to him, 1/2 of his and his groupmates' suspicion was true, you were the girl he saved a few months back. What he wasn't so sure was you donating your eyes for him, he was yet to find out the truth.
And before you knew it, you were seated in front of 5 guys at the cafe you walked passed by. They go by the name of Tomorrow x Together, a boy group in which you swore you heard somewhere. They all had introduced themselves individually. Kai and Yeonjun sat comfortably at your left and right respectively, Taehyun, Beomgyu, and Soobin in front of you. Neko was seated to your left, inand it felt as if Kai was playing with him.
After all of you had your introductions down, Yeonjun then explained to you and to the boys why he saved you. As you listened intently, you heard some snickering across the table. Of course you'd understand why some of the boys would find this funny and amusing, it really did sound cliche. But you didn't mind it though, you felt attached to him, he believed in what you believe in. While Yeonjun was narrating his story, there were occasional hums of responses from you and the other members- indicating that you were listening to every word he had to say. The deeper he got to his story, the more you became attached to him. You didn't want to say it, but deep down you believe in soulmates. And maybe in this universe you are living in, your eyes were the only way for you to find your soulmate.
A long silence followed shortly after Yeonjun finished his side of the story. After what seemed like forever, Soobin cleared his throat and then proceeded to say, "Wow. Um- okay- so-, so what now?"
You heard someone slap his forehead, as if he was embarrassed that their leader was being awkward and shy despite not having anything to be awkward and shy about. You all laughed though, clearly humored by the reaction. But Taehyun had to ask you something, once again silencing everyone on the table and direction all their attention towards you.
"Noona?"
"Yes?" You responded calmly.
"If you don't mind me asking, why are you blind? Basing off of Yeonjun-hyungs story, you still had eyes to see. What happened?" Oh no. Oh no. You were definitely caught off-guard. You didn't want them to know, but they also needed an answer.
"Yeah noona," Kai then butted in, "you see earlier Tae had this theory that you were-"
"Ya. Kai. Enough. Let's not assume things." Beomgyu tried to silence the youngster, but you reassured him that you wanted to hear the so-called "theory" as well. You knew where the thought was leading to, but you just had to brace for it.
Yeonjun was now silent, possibly waiting for what you had to say after Kai explained what Taehyun “theorized” earlier that afternoon.
"As what I was saying, Tae had this theory that maybe you were the one who donated your eyes to Yeonjun-hyung. Since earlier he was so sure that your were the girl he saved a few months, maybe- just maybe - you got so guilty that he got blind while saving you. So you had to save him as well, by offering your eyes up for surgery."
Everyone seemed on edge after Kai recalled the thought. You sighed and faced towards Yeonjun.
"I know what you saw that day." You said timidly. And Yeonjun immediately knew what you meant, the glimmer in your eyes. But he couldn't piece up what you're trying to say.
You continued on, "Try to think of a moment in which you were at your happiest, or saddest, or angriest. And then look at a mirror."
You heard one of the boys get something from their bags, possibly a pocket mirror. The others still didn't quite catch on to what was happening, but a few seconds of silence later, you heard Yeonjun gasp. "No way. No way-"
"What you guys theorized was true. I did feel guilty. I was told you hit your head pretty hard, causing you to lose your vision. I felt burdened. Had I just focused on where I was going rather than thinking deeply of all the thoughts that went through my head that night, both of us would've had our eyes. Not one or the other. And yes, I did feel the same. We had the same colored eyes, but I knew mine would glimmer when I'm filled with emotions inside. And with the way you reacted, I guess they still do, even if they're attached to another persons body." You finished off your mini-speech with a big, heavy sigh. You felt the weight on your chest being lifted off, one in which didn't know you were holding on for so long.
It was only until then that the boys noticed the glimmer in Yeonjun's eyes- a glimmer in which they haven't ever seen before. So soulmates are real. Soobin thought to himself.
"I- We- Thank you so much (Name)." that was all that Yeonjun said.
You knew every emotion behind those words, you knew he was thanking you for a lot of things. Life in the spotlight would've been very different if Yeonjun was blind. He wouldn't have been able to dance with the guys like how he used to. He wouldn't have been able to see his fans who supported his group unlimitedly. And you were happy since you knew what you did was right all along. Even more so since you knew your soulmate was the one to take very good care of it.
Since then, you always hung out with them- tagging Neko with you always. Yeonjun held you closer every time you were together, both physically and emotionally. He'd always help you out on things, like fetching some water, or walking with you and Neko, or even being there for you when you needed someone to lean on- especially if it were problems regarding your mother. It eventually led to something more than just friends, and the boys weren't even surprised. They were jealous since, as Kai puts it, "We want soulmates too!"
You were happy, to say the least. Your courage didn't go unnoticed. You took a big risk. And in the end, it was all worth it.
Forever (A. Matthews)
Tumblr media
“So will you go with me?”
“Yes! Yes, yes of course!” Auston lifts me up off my feet and spins me around in his arms. I didn’t know if he’d say yes, because Auston’s not really the wedding type of guy, but he said yes!
We’ve been dating for almost a year, and I’ve just been asked to be the flower girl for my cousin’s aunt’s wedding. I was mostly excited to get to dress up, but now I’m excited to go with Auston and dance and smile and laugh. “Okay, um, okay!”
He throws his head back and laughs at me, but then leans down and kisses me gently. “You’re adorable, Y/N.”
•••
A couple days later, Auston and I go suit shopping. We walked around the Eaton centre in downtown Toronto the entire day, looking around at dress shops, getting lunch, and wasting time in stores we have no reason to be in. For being in a hockey-crazed city, Auston actually didn’t get recognized too many times and we were able to hang out in peace.
“It’s kind of funny,” I say as we enter another store, “You try to stay anonymous when we’re out, but if I didn’t freak out and come up to meet you that day, we wouldn't be suit shopping right now.”
Auston puts his arm around my shoulder and nods at the lady who smiles at us as we enter the shop. “I didn’t care because I had no reason not to. I was always out with the guys, I was a bit younger, and I liked the attention,” he explains as we look at suits. “I don't even mind when I’m out with the guys. It's nice, knowing the city cares. But when I’m with you, you're the most beautiful girl in the room, and I don't care about being in anybody else's company.”
I nod, kind of at a loss for words. “I love you, Aus.”
“I love you, too.”
•••
The day of the wedding comes almost out of nowhere. I wake up early and Auston drives to my apartment to pick me up so we can get ready together.
“Excited?” he asks after I’ve climbed into the passenger side door of his car and he kissed me good morning.
“Nervous. Everyones going to be looking at me, Aus. What if I trip? Or cough?”
Auston laughs at me and I frown at him. “There's nothing to be nervous about, Y/N. Nobody will care even if you do trip or cough, they'll be too busy focusing on how beautiful you are.”
I smile. “What time are we leaving at?”
“To get there at 5:30 we should leave around four.”
I nod and smile. We pull up to Austons apartment and I open the back door to take out my dress, bag, heels, and makeup. Once we get in, Auston lets me use his bedroom and bathroom while he gets ready in the living room and the main bathroom. “What a gentleman,” I chirp, to which he just kisses me and leaves the room.
After I’ve finished putting on my makeup I slide into my dress and zip it up. It’s gold, with a straight neckline and off the shoulder straps. It hangs all the way to the floor so you can only see my black heels as I take a step. I’ve straightened my usually curly hair and pinned half of it up. I put in gold dangle earrings and I’m wearing a silver bracelet Auston got me for my birthday this year. I pick up my black bag and slip it over my shoulder.
When I come out of Auston’s room, he's sitting on the couch in his suit. It's midnight black with a black tie to match and a white shirt. He looks up from his phone when he hears me and runs his hand through his hair. He licks his lips and he stands and comes toward me.
“Y/N, you look… wow.”
I smile wide at him as he wraps his arms around me. “Don't kiss me. You're gonna mess up my lipstick.”
“Don’t care,” he mutters, leaning towards me and kissing me anyways. I kiss him back, then push him away jokingly. “Okay, we have to go mister.”
He groans in response, but grabs his keys and phone and takes my hand as we walk out the door.
•••
We get to the venue and sit in the car for a moment.
“Ready?” Auston urges, obviously tired of sitting in the car.
“Do you think it'll be us one day?” the question is out of my mouth before I can stop it, before I can regret it. I do regret it, though, as soon as i see the look on Austons face.
“Im sorry, I don't know why-”
“I think about it all the time,” he doesn't look at me as he answers, instead staring straight ahead. “I think about it all the time, about asking you to marry me. It'd be a big wedding, the whole team would come. And Y/B/F/N would be your maid of honour, and Willy would be glued at her hip all night, and Willy and Mitch would both be my best man because otherwise they’d argue for years about it. And my sisters would be you bridesmaids, too. And afterwards we would go on a honeymoon to someplace quiet, turn off our phones, and just be with each other. And later we'd start a family. Our little girl would be the smart one, she’d do the horses thing like you.” I giggle, and Auston glances at me with a soft smile, then looks away and continues. “I’d teach our little boy how to skate, and he’d wear 34 like me. Oh, and his middle name has to be Wiliam, cause I lost a bet with Willy.”
“Auston!”
“So, um, yeah. I do think it will be us one day. I think about it all the time, babe.”
I nod and refuse to look at him because I know if I do I’ll start crying and mess up the makeup. “Lets go,” I whisper, and Auston nods.
•••
We get through the ceremony flawlessly, and make our way to the reception hall. The tablecloths are a pink, but so light they’re almost white. There is a huge dance floor in the middle of the room, with the tables on either side of the floor. There is a bar at the far end of the hall, and a DJ booth at the other end. We find our place cards and sit at our table, making polite conversation with the others at our table. Auston grabs my hand under the table and squeezes it slightly, forcing me to look at him. He leans close to me and whispers, so only I can hear him. “I didn't mean to scare you, with what I said in the car.”
I lean close to him to respond. “You didn't scare me. I just didn't know you thought about that kind of stuff. I didn't know you were that serious about me. We’re so young, Aus.”
“I know we are. But I love you, Y/N, more than I’ve ever loved anyone else.”
Our conversation is cut short when the DJ announces the bride and groom. We stand up and clap and watch their first dance as a married couple. Auston pulls me so my back is against his chest and sways slightly along to the music.
After the meal is done, we take to the dance floor. Auston lets little kids dance on his feet, looking over at me every few minutes to smile or wink. The first slow song comes on, and I start to move away from the floor, but Auston grabs my hand and turns me toward him. “Dance with me?” he asks, as if we've just met.
I nod and as he puts his arms around my waist, I wrap mine around his neck. We dance to Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran and Auston pulls me closer, so I have to rest my head against his shoulder. “I think about it, too,” I whisper, half hoping he doesn’t hear me. But the catch of his breath tells me he did. He doesn't respond, just holds me tighter and continues to sway. With the warmth I’m wrapped in, his heartbeat against my chest, his arms tight around me, I know hes my safety. He’s my person, he’s the one. I don’t have to think about it for a second longer. He’s the one I want to spend the rest of my life with, through sickness and health, for better and worse. Forever.
summary ! The youngest of the Maximoff siblings had lived through heartbreak twice now. First her parent’s death and then her older sibling’s abandonment. She did not know what she had done wrong, only that she searched for them for 3 years before HYDRA recruited her. She joined them when she learnt Pietro and Wanda had came here after leaving her. Now 6 years after their departure, she was in the process of becoming HYDRA’s best asset ever.
________________________________________________________________
At dawn, when the sun starts to rise in the sky, the various shades of orange, yellow and pink illuminating the sky, that’s when Pietro used to feel the most peaceful. Of course, that was before they went and discovered the rampage that fueled his baby sister on the run. Before he saw what years of abandonment had done to her.
A few months ago, Pietro would have loved getting up before everyone else and go on his morning run, running faster than the forever circulating cars of New York City, when the city was awakening. He’d sometimes even go as far as the Liberty Statue, so he could admire the lady in the morning light, without the sea of tourists.
But now everything had changed, and he felt that when he woke up and had to force himself out of bed. When he didn’t have the motivation to go around the city, when looking at the rising sun didn’t feel as tranquil as it did before.
He could only think about her, Amalya.
Wondering where she was at this second, what she could be doing, how she was feeling. The overwhelming feeling of helplessness enveloped him once again. Pietro felt useless.
What was he going to become if he couldn’t even look after his own little sister?
He didn’t feel deserving of the Avengers. He felt like all they had done since they rescued him and Wanda from HYDRA was helping them, and all he could do was joke around and make mistakes on missions.
He was startled when he heard the knock on his door. To his surprise his body got up and went to open the door, but it felt as if he was far away from it. Like he was watching his body move from the outside.
Outside the door stood a very concerned Wanda, immediately she entered the room taking Pietro into her arms.
“Piet’ why are you crying ?” her voice was soft and worried, as usual these days.
But Pietro pushed her away to feel his wet cheeks, he hadn’t even realized he was crying until his sister told him so.
He dried his tear-stained cheeks and smiled sadly at the witch. Then, proceeded to shrug, not knowing how to express his feelings out loud, not really wanting to share either.
“You know we’ve told you a thousand times that it is not your fault ! Why do you keep doing this to yourself Pietro it isn’t healthy for you to think all this” Wanda felt she had to check up on everyone’s state daily, at least it prevented her from letting her thoughts wander.
“I can’t help feeling this way you know!” The tears building up in his eyes made him hate himself even more, he wished he could just find his sister in two shakes of a lamb’s tail.
“Well it isn’t easy for any of us right now, but could you try at least? For her?”
“Don’t you think I know that it isn’t easy for you for me or for anyone in this fucking tower ? I know it okay? But none of you abandoned her like I did, so please please Wanda leave me the fuck alone and don’t tell me how to feel.”
The hurt in her brother’s voice wasn’t like any she had ever heard, she wasn’t used to seeing him so torn and hurt, she couldn’t even be mad at him feeling what he felt, she was left speechless.
“Stop getting into my head please Wanda” He had always been annoyed when she searched for something in his head and had somehow found a way to block her out, which he did right away.
He didn’t want her to find out yet, he knew she wasn’t ready.
Not that he was either.
∆ While the Avengers were slowly starting to awaken in the Tower, it was already mid-afternoon in far-east Europe.
On her 10th day of running, Mal woke up startled by a loud knocking on the door. Whoever was behind it did not seem friendly enough for her to open it. A man was bellowing in Russian on the other side, his energy felt angry and annoyed.
Even though the sixteen-year-old girl had nothing to be afraid of, considering the amount of chaos she could bring up in just about three seconds, she didn’t feel safe.
After all, she had broken into a small cottage on the outskirts of a city through the backdoor. She just needed to sleep for a while, rest and eat so she could go on. The adrenaline from the first few days following the escape was slowly starting to dissipate and the heaviness of her fatigued body slowed her down.
Her muscles were tired of all the running, the calves of her feet had started to harden, not used to so much exercise in so uncomfortable shoes. The young girl had had to change clothes often in order to hide her identity from the people on the streets, especially the agents that she could recognize easily and were dispatched in small groups all over the country.
Her disappearance from the facility had caused a real panic over at HYDRA headquarters. A real man-hunt had been put in place, so they could retrieve the girl as soon as possible. In fact, the government had even been informed -not to the extend as knowing that she was a mutant- of her escape.
Upon hearing the very disturbing and worrying news, the authorities had put word on the street of this girl who was wanted by the government. Her image could be seen everywhere, on all medias allowed in Russia they were displaying nearly 24/7 a picture of her face.
As she had no money, she couldn’t buy herself any food, any clothes, anything to allow her to survive.
All she could do was steal or mend, which was rendered difficult for the most part considering every corner she turned, the police was there looking for her.
She doubted most of them knew what she was wanted for. She knew the evil organization wouldn’t ever compromise their mission, their goal. They were a secret.
She was a secret.
But she had escaped, and they had been forced to reveal her identity to the world. Now she most definitely knew that she couldn’t ever return or be found. They would hurt her, for disobeying, for hurting their men, for exposing herself to the world.
As she was slipping out the backdoor once again, the front one flew open and she ran. Cursing herself for waking up so late. Now she was sure the man was going to report forced entry and the authorities could find any kind of stuff belonging to her. From hair to her socks, they would be able to retrace her steps.
Great, now she had to change plans entirely.
The city she had just entered was situated on the Russian border, she was so close but so far. Because a mistake like the one she had just made could cost her everything.
At least, if the man had seen her run he wouldn’t be able to give the same description of her as the one the photo showed. After the four first days, she had been lucky enough to find a DIY-hair dye lotion in a supermarket trash.
She was ashamed of having to search through the garbage to get what she needed, but at the end of the day she didn’t have a lot of options. So now she had somewhat icy blonde bleached hair which made her blend in more in the big crowds of Russian girls. The dye wasn’t all that great though, it had hurt her scalp and even though she had followed the instructions she knew the color wasn’t going to last very long.
The only option she felt like she had was to cross the border before the sun set, today. Because finding shelter for the night would be way harder than it had been, the borders being heavily controlled at all times.
Mal knew she was probably only two kilometers away from Ukraine, which was less than a 30 minutes’ walk. It seemed so easy, too easy. That is why she felt more comfortable waiting for the night to come and the sun to come down, it felt safer. Like the night would hide her away.
After a little time of walking by herself and looking over her shoulder from time to time she entered the space of a small coffeeshop not too far away from the border. She had found some change laying around in the house she had stayed in the previous morning and decided best to wait silently in an unknown shop.
Even with a full plan in head Mal never even thought that she would eventually have to leave the coffee shop. She had stayed there all day, reading magazines and ordering the cheapest thing on the menu with the little money she had found in the house’s cabinets in the morning.
It was now 8pm and she was outside, kicking herself for not thinking that guards would be covering the entire area for the night, being this close to the border had left her with too much hope it had clouded her judgment. She now had to find a way to reach it without bringing any suspicion upon herself.
At least she had managed to go through the whole day unnoticed.
She was glad for the combat boots on her feet, the cold wind harshly wiping her face wouldn’t have been so kind with her extremities. She kept walking, grateful for the busy city she had chosen as a last stop before freedom.
She wondered what that felt like, to truly be free. Not like that feeling she had in the train but truly being able to enjoy a moment, without having someone monitoring you or having to constantly look over your shoulder.
The experiment she had gone through with Hydra’s surgeons and scientists had sadly blurred some of her childhood memories. The face of her parents wasn’t clear enough for her to draw a perfect family picture, but surprisingly enough she could remember the exact conversation her brother and sister had had before abandoning her. Memories like these only fueled her rage to get back at them, her entire life had been about being good enough for them, and she now knew she had sacrificed so many things just to realize they had never cared.
Knowing she couldn’t stay in one place for more than a few minutes without a guard looking at her suspiciously, she decided to keep moving and chose the most direct way to the border, hoping her plan would work.
And so, she walked, her mind still trying to make out the color of her mother’s eyes, and her dad’s voice.
∆ The chaos that was taking place in the Tower was like no other. It didn’t resemble anything that any of them had encountered before. Nothing like one of Tony’s after parties or like a fight between Sam and Pietro. The tower was bustling, the Avengers hurriedly trying to get all of their stuff together so they could be flying as fast as possible.
Thanks to one of Fury’s sources, they had been informed about some of the young girl’s whereabouts. The conclusion made had been that she would try to cross the border tonight or during the following day. So, here they were, changing into gear and getting the jet ready.
“Is everyone ready?” Steve’s voice boomed out throughout the main room, making everyone still their actions and look at him, “We have to leave, now, or else we’ll be coming back empty-handed once more”.
People around him had concentrated faces, even if there wasn’t going to be a fight, nobody was taking this mission lightly. It was important for them to be concentrated, for once no one dared to try and lighten the oppressive and tensed atmosphere, all too preoccupied to try and make a joke.
The lack of response from his teammates would have troubled Steve if he, himself had not been worried about his best friend and the twins. He had tried to get them to stay at the Tower and not go on the mission, unfortunately, all his good intentions were not taken into account when the conservation exploded into an argument.
Of course, the twins had to come. If anyone was going to save their baby sister, it had to be them. Not only did they feel responsible for what had happened to her, but they couldn’t even bear the thought of staying one more day stuck in the Tower with nothing to do and no new information.
Steve had, in the end, stopped trying to persuade them, knowing the discussion would not lead anywhere near a sound decision. He knew they would do anything to get her back and know what happened, but what he feared most was Pietro’s need for revenge. He could see it in his eyes, and feel it in his attitude, Hydra’s touch on his sister was not something that he was willing to just let go. He was afraid that getting her back would never be enough for him.
Another thing on Steve’s mind was Bucky.
The winter soldier had been even more serious than usual. He was always either working out and destroying punching bags or in the lab uselessly trying to be of some help to locate the girl. Steve knew her situation bothered and angered his friend, but he was scared of the consequences participating in such a mission could have on him.
Bucky was a grown man, but another encounter with Hydra was never something he could truly be prepared for. The memories and experience he had with them were still there, and always would be. Steve wondered why his best friend, even with everything he had been through at Hydra’s hands, was still so committed in finding the girl.
Steve was now sitting on the quinjet, still drowning in worry when Natasha sat next to him, snapping him out of his trance like state.
“If you frown any more, even your super-soldier serum won’t be able to prevent the wrinkles you’ll have.” She lightly tapped his shoulders in way that wanted to be comforting.
Steve chuckled, the first time since the news had been delivered.
“I’m worried about them”
“Everyone is” She looked around at every single one of their teammates, “We can’t take another failing in this mission, we’ve worked too much, it’s taken a toll on everybody”
“I know, we’ll find her.”
The rest of the flight was spent in silence. The thick and tensed atmosphere felt almost suffocating but no one dared to talk.
∆ As Mal approached the border, she knew her plan was working when the guards around her were too preoccupied with the crowd forming on the square not too far. No one was looking at her, the distraction she had conceived working like a charm giving her the perfect opportunity to escape and slip through Hydra’s grip. Coming up to the last one of the guards who had stayed behind to keep watch, she extended her hand to give him her fake identity card.
He looked at it intently and asked her why she was going out of the country. She answered and when he looked back down, his eyes widened, and she knew her cover was blown. Panicked, she punched him violently in the throat, the man dropping unconscious on the floor.
Adrenaline pumping through her veins, she ran as fast as she could and when she stopped running, any notion of time she could have had before was lost. Trying to regain her breath she looked around her.
Kneeling in a clearing covered in snow, the only thing surrounding her were trees. Both a blessing and curse she thought, she could hide in the forest, but her footprints were the only ones here, she knew she had made a mistake by choosing to go off the roads. Because her prints would be easily recognizable and the clouds not presenting any sign of snow did nothing to reassure her.
Her head was spinning with the amount of blood rushing to her head because of the running, preventing her from thinking straight and establishing a plan. The exhaustion from the past few days was starting to show its face and she knew that if she didn’t keep moving, she would pass out in the middle of this beautiful clearing.
But before she could even try and define the first step of her plan, she heard the shouts of men behind her.
Head spinning around, she turned and could feel the earth trembling with each soldier’s footstep. Tears of frustration now spilling on her cheeks, she knew she didn’t have time to run, especially now that she had been discovered.
Concentrating, she mustered up all the energy she had left and prepared herself for the battle running towards her. Electricity buzzing through her system, just itching and begging to be let out, she breathed in.
But before she even had the time to exhale, the sound of an engine sounded all around her. The clearing before illuminated by the moon’s soft light was now pitch dark, the aircraft blocking out any of that light.
Mal didn’t panic, she didn’t faint like she thought she would.
She got angry.
Fury flooded her veins and raged through her being like a hurricane upon being surrounded. She was ready to fight, once again, she wouldn’t stop because she was so angry and tired of people trying to take her freedom away from her. She had enough.
She wasn’t going to go down without a fight. They would know just what she was truly made of.
They would understand just how much power she had, because no one would take her liberty again.
And when she the jet finally landed, Mal exhaled, her eyes turning the deepest shade of amethyst.
here’s some tea about my life and my friend who should definitely be an ex friend but isn’t because i’m a pussy — this also includes a sprinkle of tea and drama with my ex boyfriend — also tw: very brief mentions of self harm
the first year of our friendship was relatively positive, we only had one fight but the rest was okay and i actually had feelings for her if i’m being completely honest. but things started going downhill during the second year, when i started picking up on her toxic traits, and i found that i was more irritated and unhappy than at peace when i was with her. but the third and fourth year is where it got worse, like hands down i had my heart torn out, ripped apart, stepped on, and then set afire in a trash can.
i was in a relationship with this guy, a relationship which lasted for almost a year and a half, despite the fact that he was toxic and abusive, which was something that began around the sixth month mark, but i was too afraid to walk away, both because i was naive and terrified of what he would do. anyways, while we were together, my friend and him would flirt (even when i was right there) but they especially got flirty and handsy when they were alone together, which was an often occurrence. they stayed in a hotel together and had even kissed, but that was something i didn’t find out about until after him and i broke up. keep in mind i put complete trust into my friend despite the mess of our friendship beforehand. i didn’t quite trust my boyfriend, but once again, i was terrified of leaving or standing up for myself and such.
both my friendship with the girl and my relationship with the boy were super toxic during my junior year of high school. the friend and i got into a huge argument and actually called quits on our friendship, which then made things worse and she began spreading rumors (her favorite one being that i was cheating on my bf with my male friend). and that caused my relationship with the guy to become even more toxic and he amped up the abuse.
but that following summer, i broke up with him, and that same day he trashed my bedroom and screamed at me and almost hit me if it weren’t for my sister being in the room next to mine. but after the breakup, the girl and i were friends again, please don’t ask me why i don’t even know, i have a problem with going back to people who aren’t good for me, i can always be talked into it with a half assed apology.
but a few weeks later, i found out that her and my ex were hooking up behind my back. and the both of them were spreading even more rumors about me. this was my senior year now, by the way. after i found out, i ended the friendship once again, but that escalated things once again, and it all got to the point where i was too scared to even get out of bed and go to school or turn on my phone, and i was having panic attacks and i spiraled back into self harm and went off my meds, i was failing classes and nearly all of my friendships at this point where going downhill because i couldn’t keep up with them or they didn’t want to deal with me with everything going on.
it all went on for the first few months of my senior year, until my ex screwed over the girl and they started fighting and finally left me alone.
oh but wait- i was friends with the girl again. and a few months later, i was hanging out with one of our mutual friends, a boy, and i wasn’t completely sober while we were hanging out, and he took advantage of that. a few weeks after that night i tried opening up about it to the girl because i wanted to warn her about him because she liked him, and she didn’t believe me and still chose to be his friend and such, and ended up dropping me for him because she thought i was a “selfish liar who wanted him to myself”
let’s just say i don’t know how i’m not in therapy yet
good lord there’s a lot to unpack
first off, please remember to take care of yourself first and foremost! im very sorry that you had such an awful high school experience and such toxic friends and relationships!
thats so unfair :(. i think something to take away from this is to definitely start putting yourself first in a lot of situations! whether that be through therapy, medication, meditation, whatever works for you.
please message me if you ever need anything.
Rebirth
((Continuation of this story!))
Tik tok. Tik tok.
Silence. Sunshine in her room. Morning again?
Heavy footsteps. Knock knock. A sigh. Creaking door. Stomp stomp. Clink clank. A bearded face. Friend? Foe? Friend. Yes, a friend.
“Sorry, hope i didn’t wake ya.” A deep voice. Friendly voice. Clink Clank.
When did he visit her room the last time? Must have been a while. But still, everytime he came here, he was reminded that this girl loved the color red, or maybe even obsessed by it. But in any case, that was not the problem right now.
Wickid made a few steps towards the partition partition, which separated him from the small cats bed, where he put down his sword and shield, before sitting down. Finally, some good earned rest. “So…”, he said, followed by a deep sigh. “Azura told me about’cha. You… didn’t ate much the last days, did ya? Looks a bit untouched, if ya ask me. Like the rolanberry juice…”
Another deep sigh.
Tumblr media
He waited a bit, but the room remained silent. Well, Azura had told him that she was worried sick about her, but this… if someone had told him that this once so cheerful little girl would end up in such a dreadful state, he wouldn’t have believed them. Ever. But… now, here he. Trying to do at least something for her… so he broke the silence once again.
“So… ‘m not good at this, why do i… godanmit! Ya know what? Listen, Isabelle. Well, i hope you are listening. Just, eh… yeah, i brought a story for you. You like stories, right? Zura told me many times, and ya have a lotta books here, right? So, eh… yeah, a story. Hmmm… where to start…?”
For a moment, the room became silent again. Tik tok. Tik tok. Then, the story began.
“There was… eh… no, that’s not how stories begin, right? It was something like… ah, yeah. Once upon a time, there was a man, a young man, living with his friends in a… in a village within the Shrouds. Far away from home, as the… no, an empire had taken over his homelands. The adults took care of him and the other kids, as many of them had left their family behind, or even worse, had seen them die. But they rarely cried, as they cared for each other as if they were brothers. Time flew, and as they grew older, they started adventuring the nearby forest, armed with swords, spears, bows… you know, all kinds of weapons. Some were talented enough to learn use magic, and one was even interested in studying the art of the thaumaturges, in Ul’dah. Just like you did. And, well… they fought against the monsters, protected the village, went hunting with the villagers… you know, the usual. Helping each other, and those who had raised them.”
Tik tok.
His voice. A calming voice. A deep voice. A caring voice. Just listening was… nice.
The forest. She had been there. Did she meet any of them? Talked to them?
A peaceful life. Why wasn’t hers as peaceful? Why did life hurt so much?
Tik tok.
“A few years after the group was renowned in the region. Helped anyone in need and gave a part of their hard earned money to the adults, that had raised them. And even though they weren’t registered as adventurers… they still kinda counted as those. But one day… yeah, one day, they had a fateful battle against a giant morbol. And, eh… hm...  Do you know them? Those... tentacle plants with a giant mouth and the worst breath ever? They are… urgh. You know, even if you don’t get hit by their breath, your clothes will smell horrible for days, i can tell you, and if you get hit… well, one of your dresses might just… dissolve, i guess. But… eh… you’ll get knocked out yourself pretty hard, even if you do hold your breath. Many people also might just die a few minutes later.”
“Bloody bastards!”, Wickid mumbled into his beard, before he continued. “Well, w- eh, they fought against a giant morbol, and… one of them got hit by its terrible breath. And… even though they managed to kill it, with a fire crystal, their friend… didn’t made it.”
Tik tok. Tik tok.
“Oh. Oh no!” A little gasp went through the room. The poor man. His friends. They… they didn’t deserve this! They must have worked very hard! Like her! And now… now what? Life wasn’t fair!
Now, the cat sat near the partition, too. Hidden in her fluffy blanket. Eager to hear more.
Tik tok. Tik tok.
“So… we- eh, they burried him. Alone. Somewhere in the swamp. Gave him a proper goodbye. And… well, stopped being adventurer. It… it was time to live a… a less dangerous life. So they left, taking some of their old friends with them, to start a new life somewhere else. Ventured to Thanalan. Made a camp there. Took in more refugees. Protected them, as good as they could.”
Tik tok.
Sniff.
Tik tok.
Did… did she hear a sniff there? From him? “Wiiickid? Is… is everything alriiight?” Her voice was thin, but you could hear her worries. He… normally he wasn’t like this, was he? “Did you knooow the man?”
“...hmm. Yeah. Yeah, know him. Know him very well.”
“Oh… i’m sorry… i didn’t…” A sigh. Silence.
Tik tok.
Sniff.
“I hooope he is okay right know.”
“Oh, he is, in general. Can tell you that.”
“Oh, yay! I’m glad to heeear that! And… and his friiiends? Are they okay as weeell?”
Tik tok. Tik tok.
Sniff.
“Wiiickid…?”
“...rried.”
“Eh… whaaat did you-” “Burried. I said they are burried.”
Tik tok.
“...oh. I… that… sorry”, Isabelle mumbled, trying to curl herself up again in the blanket. “So… he…?”
“Is the only one left.”
“That’s… that’s teeerrible! I wanna… Can i… But i can’t…”
A deep sigh could heared from the pile of pillows and the blanket the cat had burried herself in.
“But you saaaid he is allright, didn’t you?”
“...yeah. Yeah, he is. He found some good friends, who helped him after all that has happened.”
“Oh? Some friends… like you?”
“Hm? Can’t tell if we are friends. Kinda hard to befriend yourself, right?”
Tik tok. Tik tok.
Befriend… yourself? What? So that story… he had talked about himself? The grand protector? Azuras husband? The one who looks after her while she learns to control her magic even better? And… and he had to live through such awful things? And he was still here? And he was so strong, and she so weak. And… and…
Tears in her eyes. On her blanket. Everywhere. And a sudden urge. An urge to hug someone.
Thump. Footsteps. Tap tap tap.
There she was. The red cat. Cheeks wet from tears. Her hair was a mess, again. In her undies she always slept in, still one of the pillows in her hand, she stood there, before she fell onto her knees and clang to Wickid, while she cryed heavily.
“Wiiiiiickid!”, she cried. “I didnnoooow! Im so sooooorry!”
“It’s okay. Nothing you wanna talk about everyday, eh?”
“Budit wasso so awfulor you! Anyou still knewhat todo anare here aneverything sfine for you, while i… while i… i've kiiilled her! Iaaana! I’ve kiiilled her!”
Tik tok. Soft strokes over the cats head. Tik tok.
“Isabelle. It was not you fault.” “But… but i-” “No! Isabelle. We… She…” Wickid let of a deep sigh. Where to start? Why he? Why not Azura? Was he really the right person to talk with Isabelle about all that…?
“So, Iana… when i was carrying her, i already felt that something was... odd. As it turned out, the aether her body should have had was just… gone. Completely. And… you said something ‘bout a voidsend, right? So… it seems like that creature had taken all of Ianas aether while living in her body.”
“And when i kiiilled that monster, i killed her too!”
“No, Isa! She wouldn’t have been able to talk to you again in that case. No, more like… if you hadn’t killed that voidsend, Iana would had to watch it walk as her through the world an’ do horrible things. The moment the voidsend had taken over, Ianas fate was sealed, and you… you didn’t kill her. You saved her. Saved her from a miserable fate.”
Tik tok. Tik tok.
“But… if i hadn’t come to Kugane, or hadn’t left home, i-” “Isabelle!”
The girl immediately stopped talking. She didn’t expect Wickid to say her name in such a harsh voice.
“Isabelle”, he repeated. “You wanna tell me all of your journey, all the days here in the free company, the time you’ve spent with Azura, Niyu, Tatara, and all the others… you wanna tell me that all of that might have been wrong?”
“I.... I…”, she stammered, not sure what to say.
“You know… everyone makes mistakes. Like… maybe your way of leavin’ your home wasn’t the best way. But ya already know that much, don’tcha? But do you really think all of this is ya fault, and yours alone? Do you really think Iana hasn’t done any mistakes? Are you really that naive?”
Tik tok. Tik tok.
No. Nooo, she wasn’t! But also… she knew. She knew, he was right. So right. And it hurt. So very much. So so so so much! Why, Iana? Why? Why did you let a voidsend help you…?
“I’m… i’m not!”, Isabelle mumbled.
Tik tok. Sniff sniff. Tik tok.
“You know… griefing is okay. Takes some time to heal, i know, and it won’t get better quickly. But… but don’t do what i did. Like taking the blame all for yourself, and refuse to accept the reality. Took me years, you know? Years… Don’t repeat my mistakes.”
“But… but what am i supposed to dooo now?”
“I’m afraid that’s something you have to figure out yourself. But… i you don’t find an answer yourself… Maybe you can think of what your sister would have wanted you to do.”
“What… what Iaaana had wanted me to do…?”
Tik tok.
Iana… she had been proud of her, right? Of the brave little sister, who had seen the world, who had learned to use magic, who had achieved so much. And not of the whiny one, who blamed herself for everything and wanted to hide from everyone. So… now that Iana wasn’t anymore… she had to be the big sister now, right? She had to be responsible, right? And as the responsible one… what had to be done…?
Tik tok.
“...Wickid, were iiis Iana now? Eh, i mean, her booody…”
“Hm…. Golan took care of it, i think. No, don’t look at me like that, he didn’t dispose her, she is safe. Cause we all thought you might want to say goodbye properly.”
“So… she still needs a fuuuneral… and our parents…?”
“Know nothing, as far as i know.”
Isabelle nodded slowly. So… those things had to be taken care of. By her. And nobody else.
Iana deserved a proper funeral! She… she had to do one! The best! Here, in Kugane! Or… more like Shirogane. And after that… she shuddered, as she thought of her telling her parents about all of his. But… but she had to do it. No running away. She had to be brave! A brave woman! For… for Iana!
Tik tok. Tik tok. Tik tok.
“...thank you, Wickid!”, Isabelle said, after clinging to the highlander for some more time. But he didn’t respond. Instead, she could hear a slight snorring from him, as his chest rose and fell slowly. Only now, as she stopped clinging to him, she realised his outfit - his armor, he only wore for battles, together with his blade and shield, which he had placed beside him. Which meant… he must have headed to her first when he came home this morning. He must have been so tired after staying awake all night, and still… he had taken his time to talk to her, instead of going to bed!
A faint smile appeared on Isabelles face - the first smile for days - when she realized, what he had done for her. She placed the pillow she had taken from her bed under his head, and brought him one of her red blankets, which she put gently over the sleeping man. He had earned his rest, and Isa wanted to be sure he could enjoy it.
She slipped into one of her simple dresses as quiet as she could. Azura had told her about Wickid’s sleeping habits, so he shouldn’t wake up that easily, but still… no risks allowed! Quietly she sneaked past him, took a sip from the still delicious rolanberry juice, and left her room. It was morning. It was time for breakfast, and after that… new responsibilities were waiting for her!
Just For One Night | 2-4
Tumblr media
✨Foreword: Baekhyun has always been carefully platonic in his interactions with his best friend’s little sister. He resolved to keep her at arm’s length despite his attraction towards her. But one night, one kiss changes everything.
✨Genre: romance, fluff!
✨A/N:  Hiii, since a few anons told me that they can’t access my google doc so here you go :) I didn’t edit this like what I did to the first chapter so uh you know what im gonna say I keep repeating myself haha! BTW, the FINAL part is out too!
Tumblr media
Last night felt too good to be true; like a dream I wished I would never wake up from. But I did. I woke up the next morning feeling in dismay knowing that I had to face reality. Our time together was over and everything between us would return to where it used to be. Baekhyun would see me as nothing but his best friend’s sister.   Tears burned in my eyes because more than I’d realized, I’d been waiting for someone like him. Sadly, he wasn’t mine. I stared down at his strong arms winding around my waist, enjoying the feeling of having him close for one last time. Last night, he’d woken me up for another round of sex. When we’re done, he’d kissed me goodnight and hold me to sleep. He hadn’t let go ever since, not even once. The feeling was kind of beautiful, and I wished we could stay like this longer. I made a stealth move to twist my body around in his arms and tilted my chin up to look at him. His eyes were closed, his chest rose and fell with every breath that he took. I’d never seen anything quite so peaceful before. Watching him sleep, being in his arms, my heart squeezed with a longing so deep I can’t help the tears from falling. He was someone I wished I could wake up to every morning. I lifted my hand up to cradle his face and pressed a kiss to the corner of his lips. Baekhyun made a low humming sound in the back of his throat as his arms tightened around me. I froze against him, my heart rate picking up. But a few seconds later, his hold around me loosened. Relief moved through me and I let go of the breath I was holding. I debated if I should wake him up before leaving. Part of me wanted to stay, but a bigger part of me didn’t want to have to deal with the awkwardness. So I figured it would be better if I leave. We could pretend last night hadn’t happened, move on with our lives and keep our relationship as platonic as it was before. Maybe that was what Baekhyun wanted as well. After all, he’d only proposed one night. I peeled his arms away from my waist, shifting to the side of the bed then sat up and swung my legs off the mattress. I looked over my shoulder to check on him before rising to my feet. My muscle was aching all over. I glanced slipped on my clothes before quietly made my way out of his bedroom and his apartment. I checked my phone in the cab, and was hit by a reminder that today is Kyungsoo’s wedding.
Baekhyun will be there too.
Oh Crap.
When I stepped foot into the sitting area of my shared home, I found my best friend lazing on the couch with a cup of Greek yogurt in her hand, her attention fixed on the TV in front of her. She hadn’t noticed my arrival. “Babe,” I called. Since she didn’t answer, I moved closer so I was standing in front of her, blocking her view. She glanced up, her eyes rest on my face for a fleeting moment before drifting down and back up again. Her brows raised curiously at me, “Where were you last night?” “...” My best friend knew me so well she could tell from my silence that something was bothering me. “Come sit.” She scoot over and pat on the empty space next to her. I flopped back against the couch, turning slightly to look at her. She cast me a worried look, “Tell me what happened.”   “Baekhyun and I...we,” “Baekhyun and you what?” She probed. “We might’ve…slept together.” “Oh God.” She gasped, disbelief written all over her face. “How?” She gripped my arms, shaking me. “How did it happen?" “We were talking on the couch…and then somehow, we were all over each other. I tried to stop it but––“ “But what? What happened next?” She urged,  looking so engrossed. “––He told me it’s only for a night so I said yes, then we went at it.” I blushed. “Like animals” “I’m not surprised.” Her lips twitched as if suppressing a laughter. “Those hickeys say it all.” My cheek felt so hot it could cook. I had noticed those bite marks in the cab on my way home. I just didn’t care to cover it because there’s no need to. Soyeon and I were as comfortable around each other as two married couple should be. We were like sisters and I trusted her with my secrets, just as she trusted me with hers. “Do you think Baekhyun would be mad that I left without telling him?” I asked. “You did what?” Her lips parted in shock. Her reaction didn’t make me feel good at all. “I just...I wasn’t sure If I should wake him up.” “You should have!” she raised her voice, shocking me. “He's not just a guy you pick up at the bar to hook up with for God sake, what were you thinking?” My guilt tripled in an instant. I hadn't meant to treat Baekhyun like a one-night stand. He meant so much more than that. “I don’t want any awkwardness between us. What if he wakes up and regret sleeping with me?” She shook her head. “I doubt that. This is Baekhyun we are talking about. He cares about you too much to hurt you.” “How could you be so sure?” My best friend looked at me like I was stupid. “How could you be so blind? Anyone with a pair of eyes could easily tell that Baekhyun loves you. Have you seen the way he looks at you?” “He looks at me the same way since I was little.” Soyeon gave me a long stare, then she sighed as if giving up. “Whether you believe me or not, Baekhyun is going to be so disappointed when he wakes up and finds that you’re gone.” I slumped back against the couch, groaning in frustration. “What do I do?” “Call him,” she says. “Apologize.”
Tumblr media
I decided to take a shower first before calling Baekhyun as I needed time to think of what to say. All I knew was, I should apologize. And then what? Do I tell him how I feel about him? What if he didn't feel the same way? Worst, What if I scared him away? OR What if Soyeon was right? That Baekhyun indeed harbored some feelings for me? I sat in the bathtub, hugging my knees to my chest while my mind drifted to last night. And the words Baekhyun had said to me ran through my head. Any man would be lucky to have you... That probably meant nothing....he must have said that to all the girls he had dated before... I think about you for every damn second of the day. Did he mean that in a romantic way or was it purely sexual? Maybe its the latter...or maybe not....God, I'm so confused For the next one hour, I sat there thinking about all those maybes and what ifs. I was getting drowsy. Without me knowing, my eyes fluttered close and I drifted off to sleep. I hadn't realized my head was sinking underwater. Sleep left my brain spontaneously, and my eyes shot up in shock when I felt a pair of hands gripping my arms, pulling me out into the air. "What the hell are you doing?" a male's voice boomed across the small space of the bathroom. I saw Baekhyun through my blurry vision as I rubbed away the water that got into my eyes. He was squatting next to the bathtub, looking all horrified and worried. He reached for a clean towel on the cabinet below the sink, "What were you trying to do??" he fumed, dabbing the towel over my face. I was too dumbstruck to even form a word. Not to mention I wasn't wearing anything......I was naked........naked......wait? naked! Awareness crashed into me and my hands moved up instinctively to cover my chest, "Why are you here?" I snapped. His face twisted into a frown, "Were you trying to kill yourself?" "Kill myself?" I mimic the frown on his face, but mine was of confusion, "What are you talking about?" "Answer me!" "You answer me! What are you doing here?" Baekhyun answered with a loud grunt and then he bent forward and dipped his arms into the water to spoon me out of the bathtub. "Baekhyun!" I squealed, folding my arm over my chest as if it would help to cover my nakedness. Why did I even bother? he had seen me naked anyway. He carried me all the way out into my walk-in closet and placed me down on the marble countertop, water dripping down from my drenched hair and skin. "Explain." he demanded as he leaned forward to rest his palms on the space next to my hips. My forehead creased, still not understanding what he was fussing all about, "What do you want me to explain?" "Why were you drowning yourself in the bathtub?" I shot him an incredulous stare. Did he really think I was trying to kill myself? "I did not, Baekhyun. I fell asleep." "You fell asleep?" he asked as if he couldn't believe what I said. "Yes, I fell asleep," I confirmed. "It happens sometimes when I'm tired."   "Oh........" he muttered, embarrassment was evident in his expression, "Okay......" "Guys, what's wrong, why is it so loud in-." At the sound of Soyeon's voice, I brought my head around. Our eyes met and she was standing frozen in the doorway of my walk-in closet, "Oh dear," she turned around, "I'm so sorry....I didn't mean to disturb.....you guys can...you know....continue do your thing....whatever it is........" she babbled. "It's not what you think it is," I corrected her immediately. "Have fun!" she shouted teasingly before fleeing the scene. "Great, now she's going to think that we-" I trailed off as I turned around and caught him grinning at me, making my heart rate sped up. His gaze made its way down my bare skin and in a nanosecond, the air around us was charged with tension. I cleared my throat and he brought his gaze back to my face with a low hum. "What brings you here?" I asked softly. “We need to talk.” "About what?" I asked, feigning ignorant. “You might want to wear your clothes first…I'm loving the view, but its pretty distracting, baby." He suggested with a grin. Heat pervaded my cheek. "Can you wait outside?" I asked, trying to buy myself some time to think. He nodded, and in a heartbeat, his lips were on mine for a quick kiss. "Don't take too long," he said against my lips. And then he walked away, leaving me hopelessly confused by the kiss.
When I stepped out into my bedroom, Baekhyun was on my bed. I caught a glimpse of my journal lying on a pillow next to him. He was staring at it, and as his hand started to move to reach for it, my legs acted on instinct. I strode forward, stopping before him and snatched it away. Baekhyun's head snapped up at my sudden presence. It was a relief he hadn't gotten a chance to open it. This diary held too many secrets I'd been keeping to myself all these years. It was an outlet for my feelings for him since I was little. "What is that?" he asked. “My journal.” I slipped the diary under my pillow and lowered myself on the bed. I turned to him and asked, “What do you want to talk about?" The air changes again. "You weren't there when I woke up this morning," he muttered with a tone laced with disappointment. "You were still sleeping. I didn't want to disturb.” which was true. I wasn't lying. "And you think it's okay to leave without a word?" he said with a slightly raised voice this time. "I'm sorry. I was..." I paused for a bit of a second and then I admitted, "I was confused." A muscle in his jaw tightened, "So you're confused, and that gives you the right to treat me like a hookup you use for a night and get rid of the next day? Do I mean so little to you?” I flinched at the tone of his voice. Growing up, Baekhyun had barely gotten upset at me. But If he did, means I had really done a huge mistake. And this time, I knew I did.   "I didn't mean to. I'm sorry." “Am I just a rebound?” He asks sharply.
“No. Of course not,” I deny.
For a moment I was uncertain how he was going to respond to that. But slowly, the tension in his face eased and I saw understanding in his eyes, "Next time you’re confused, we talk. You don't have to run away." Next time? Will there ever be a next time? There was a deep silence before my soft voice filled the room, "I guess I left because I was scared.” "What is there to be scared of?" "I was afraid that you'd wake up and realized that being with me last night was a mistake." tears pricking my eyes as I spoke. "I don't want you to regret anything because last night meant something to me." He held my gaze with his gentle one and his hand reached out to cradle the side of my face, "Last night meant something to me too." he confessed, "Being with you wasn't a mistake. It will never be." My heart throbbed at his confession, I almost felt like crying.
"I never regret any second of it.” he continued, "I'd do anything I can to make you mine again.” And with that, tears rolled down my cheek. Happy tears. Baekhyun scooted closer, tugged me into his arms and I rested my head on his chest. My heart throbbing harder in my chest.  "Are you still confused?" he asked as his hand brushed at the back of my head. "I'm not sure if last night changes anything." Baekhyun answered with a chuckle, "Of course it does, sweetheart." I leaned back and stared up at him with a question in my eyes, "What changes?" "This." he said before his lips crashed down into mine. A startled gasp slipped from my lips. My hands moved up to hold onto his arms as our lips moved against each other in a long ardent kiss. When he pulled back, he whispered, "Now I get to kiss you whenever I want to." A blush spread across my cheek, "So," I said, chewing on my bottom lip, "Does it mean we are a couple now?" The side of his lips curled up, "Do you want to be my girlfriend?" If he could read my mind, he'd hear me screaming a loud yes. But feeling playful, I shrugged instead. "I'll think about it." A warning flashed in his eyes. Two seconds later I was pushed back against the pillows with him hovering over me. "Think faster."
Tumblr media
We spent the remaining of the afternoon in my bed. My back leaning against his front and his arms hugging me from behind. We were sometimes talking and sometimes just quietly enjoying each other’s company. Unlike the relationships I had before, being with Baekhyun felt real to me. He gave me butterflies, he made my heart flutters, he gave me tingles and many other beautiful feelings no man could ever give me. Most of all, he showed me love even before he said it to me. It might be a wishful thinking but I'd like to believe that perhaps Baekhyun felt the same for me too. “Should we tell your brother now?” Baekhyun asked. I looked up and cast him a troubled look, “Now?” “What's wrong?” “Hypothetically speaking,” I said. “If my brother disapproved of our relationship, what would you do?” I wondered anxiously while waiting for his answer. “Hypothetically speaking,” he imitated, “If your brother disapproved of our relationship, would you run away with me?” That was surprising. Knowing how much he treasured his friendship with my brother, I’d assumed he was gonna say let’s end this…“Where are you taking me to?” “Anywhere you want,” he answered. “Just you and me.” Loving the idea, I showed him my expectant smile, “Let's go to your grandmama’s home.” His brows rose up and he gave a quiet chuckle, “I’m starting to think you are obsessed with my grandmama’s home.” “I am,” I admitted simply. “Would you take me there, please?” “Anything for you, sweetheart.” he lowered his head so that his nose brushed along mine. Baekhyun’s grandmother lived in a vacation home at a beach called The Dolphin Island. I’d never gotten a chance to visit as I was on my internship when Baekhyun and the rest planned a trip there last summer. I'd heard from my brother of how beautiful the place is. He told me that the sky would turn pink during sunset and that dolphins would appear swimming across the ocean too. I could only imagine how surreal it felt to witness such a breathtaking view…. Feeling elated at the thoughts, my face beamed with blissfulness. “I can’t wait to be there!” “You make it sounds like we are really running away.” “Aren't you the one who suggested the idea?” “It was a hypothetical question, my dear.” My brows drew together, “So you weren’t serious about it?” Sensing my disappointment, Baekhyun let out a sigh, “I wasn’t kidding when I said we’ll run away if your brother doesn’t approve of our relationship. But first, I’d like to try my best to convince him to let me date you. ” he explained. “I will fight for us no matter what." The die-hard romantic in me was melting into mush. I turned myself around so that I was straddling him, and then I kissed him. Earnestly. “I will fight for us too." I whispered as I pulled back. His lips quirked in amusement, “Really? What are you gonna tell your brother then?" I pondered for a brief period of time before answering honestly, “I'll tell him that I had a huge crush on you since I was ten and that I'd rather die than not be with you." Two brows rose at me in question and surprise, "You've been crushing on me for so long and I didn't know about it?" “Because back then, I was only Chanyeol’s little sister in your eyes,” I muttered. Regret veiled his expression. "I'm sorry." I assured him with a smile as I shook my head lightly, “I don’t want you to feel sorry. I’m telling you this because I want you to know that.......it has always been you.”   That made him smile. While keeping his loving gaze on me, he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. My cheek felt warm and my heart palpitated. I knew if I didn’t break the silence, we’d end up kissing again and I had a feeling it might even lead to something else. As appealing as it sounded, I wasn't going to do it in my shared apartment especially not when the room wasn't soundproofed. If Soyeon heard us, I swore she'd never let me live a day without her teasing. "You know," I broke our gaze and leaned over to slid my hand under a pillow next to him. His eyes followed my hand as I pulled a diary hidden under it. "I've been writing about you ever since the day I met you," "You were only seven when I first met you." Stunned that he remembered, my face lit up, "And you were fourteen." I said as I handed the diary to him. "These are all about me?" he asked while taking the book in his hand. "You might want to skip the first few entries. I wrote them when I was five. It's mostly about Disney princesses and my Barbie dolls." Chuckling, he flipped to the very the first entry. "I want to read everything." July 20, 2000. Dear Diary, Today, everyone is not happy. Mommy and Daddy are very angry at Chanyeol because he bring baby mouse back home from school. Mommy say we cannot keep baby mouse at home because it is dirty. But baby mouse is very cute and my brother say baby mouse is hurt so he want to take care of it. Mommy and Daddy want to throw away baby mouse. Chanyeol is very sad because baby mouse is gone, and I am sad too because I don’t like to see my brother being sad. November 3, 2001. Dear Diary, Today is a good day because I made a new friend! He's my brother's best friend and his name is Baekhyun. He is very kind just like my brother and he makes me laugh a lot. I hope to see him again soon. August 14, 2002. Dear Diary, Today, Baekhyun teaches me how to ride the bicycle. I am still not good at it yet. I kept falling and cried because it's so hard. But Baekhyun told me it’s okay because he used to fall many times too. He said I shouldn't give up and If I keep trying, I will be able to ride the bicycle soon. May 1, 2003. Dear Diary, Today, As I got home from school, Baekhyun and Chanyeol were hanging out in my room. They were talking about a boy in their class. I don’t think they like him very much but I'm not sure. They repeated the word asshole a few times. I didn’t know the meaning of those words and they wouldn't tell me because they said I am too young to understand. I was so curious that I went to Mommy's room to ask her. Mommy got so angry at me. She told me that is a bad word and warned me to never say it again. Then, she went to my room to reprimand Baekhyun and Chanyeol. I felt guilty because it was my fault they got into trouble. When Mommy left the room, I thought they were going to be upset but they laughed at me instead. I am really confused. And I still don't know what asshole means. For the next half an hour, I sat next to Baekhyun as he read each page and laughed at the most of them. It was until he turned to the entry I wrote when I was seventeen that he stopped and turned to me with a frown. June 24, 2012 Dear Diary, I think I might have my first sexual awakening today. I nibbled my bottom lips with a bashful smile. It was a relief I didn't include the details of my "sexual awakening" in my diary. It would be more embarrassing if I did. "Did I.....?" he guessed
"Yes, you did, my friend." His brows puckered, "I don't know how to feel about it. It sounds a bit.....pedophile like." I giggled at his discomfort, "Come on. It's not like you were attracted to my boobless and buttless teenager body. Plus, you were still dating Jaesi at the time." I was referring to his ex-girlfriend whom he dated for seven years. The two had an on and off relationship before they finally decided to end it a month ago. "Good point. But, what did I do to spark your....uh....sexual awakening?" he queried. "Promise me you won't make fun of me if I tell you?" "I promise." ".....You didn't do anything actually," I said. "I'm not sure if you remember, but I did walk in on you shirtless." His lips curled into a slow and smug grin, "I've always thought you were innocent." "I was seventeen.....you know.....hormone and all." "Didn't know you're such a pervert." he mocked. Embarrassed, I snatched the diary away from his grasp, "Shouldn't have let you read it." "Hey, I was just joking." he coaxed as he nudged my arm with his elbow. "Let me read the rest of it, please." his face was now nuzzling in the crook of my neck, making me titter at the ticklish sensation. "Fine fine...But....Only if you tell me when did you start seeing me differently." I bargained. I've always been curious and now was the best chance to ask him about it. "What do you mean differently?" "When did you start seeing me as a woman?" I clarified my question. He threw me an are-you-serious look, like it was such a wrong thing to ask. "I'm not telling you that. It's a guy thing that will probably creep you out." "I won't. I promise.” I pleaded in a sweet way that managed to waver his resolve. He let out a defeated sigh, "Okay.." "This is fun!” I chirped. He shook his head at my excitement before he started speaking, "You were nineteen. It was during one of the weekend gatherings at Kyungsoo's villa." "Oh my god, I remember!" I interjected, "No wonder you were being such an overbearing ass that night." He clucked his tongue in annoyance, "Do you want to listen or what?" "Sorry." I gave him an apologetic smile, "Go on." "You brought a date with you. I couldn't remember the asshole's name. I think it was something Sook.." "Seok-jin." I supplied while trying my best to suppress my grin. He was clearly jealous.   "Whatever," he rolled his eyes, "You know I wasn't in the best mood that night. I needed some fresh air so I went outside to the park nearby. And then, I found you and the asshole kissing under the tree and-" As the memory of that night returned vividly to my mind, my eyes widened, "Oh my god! So it was you who threw rocks at us while we were kissing." I deduced with a loud voice as if I just solved one of Sherlock Holmes mystery. Baekhyun treated me with another stern look for interrupting his speech. "Last warning." "Sorry." "I was suddenly feeling so jealous and turned on at the same time," he confessed somewhat gruffly as his eyes lingered on my mouth. "My mind started to imagine how your lips would feel against mine, how you'd taste like when I......." his voice trailed away as our eyes locked in another heated stare. My breathing became heavy as the air around us thickened. His lips were moving closer to mine and half a second before we closed the distance between us, Baekhyun's phone rang, interrupting our moment. He made a low scowling sound under his breath. I sighed inwardly as he pulled back and shoved his hand into his jeans pocket, I peered over to look at the caller id and my forehead creased as I saw Aera's name written on the screen. Aera was Kyungsoo's twenty-year-old cousin who had a crush on Baekhyun. "Why is she calling you?" As if he something struck him in the head, he cursed again. I became more curious, "What is it?" "I've promised Kyungsoo that I'll be Aera's date for his wedding tonight."
Tumblr media
I was smiling on the outside, pretending that I wasn't at the very least affected by the news that my boyfriend was going on a date with another girl. But on the inside, I was livid with jealousy. I knew there was nothing to worry about since Baekhyun had zero feelings for Aera. He was just doing a favor to his best friend. Still, it was a little difficult to accept the notion that I had to share my boyfriend with someone else. Especially since we had just made our relationship official less than an hour ago. Baekhyun had repeatedly asked me if I’d liked him to bail out. But, how could I possibly say Yes when I knew the girl had been looking forward to this day. Plus, Aera was a nice girl and I actually liked her. I’d be an evil witch if I ever ruined her dream date with Baekhyun. “Are you sure you are okay?” "Yes I'm okay," I told him for the umpteenth time, "I know you are just doing a favour to Kyungsoo. I completely understand." "You really sure?" he tried again. Forcing a wider smile, I spoke through my gritted teeth, "Yes Baekhyun, I am 100% sure.“ "See that fake smile?" he pointed at my lips, "You are so jealous." “I told you I'm not." I denied. "Yes you are." he insisted. My smile faltered and my forehead creased, "Why can't you just drop it?" I groaned. "Fine," he rolled his eyes, "It's actually good that you are not jealous because you know....a date involves holding hands and-" "No." I shot him a death glare, “No holding hands.” He gave me a smug smile, "Are you finally admitting that you are jealous?" Too tired to argue, I reluctantly admitted, "I am jealous..." my voice sounded almost muted. "I know that." "No holding hands!" I reminded. “I won't. But what if she holds mine first?” he said with a smirk I wasn't sure what for. "Do I push her away?" Part of me was tempted to say yes but I knew how much it hurts to be pushed away by a guy you like. “Don't push her away.” I said as I scooted closer to him, “You can link arms with her like this,” I slid my hand around his arms as a demonstration, “or this,” I reached down to hold his hand with a loose flimsy grip, “Just, not like this.” I clasped his hand tightly with interlaced fingers, “This is how you hold my hand.” A low chuckle left his lips, “Are you always this possessive, sweetheart?” “Would you let another guy hold my hand like this?” I quipped. Baekhyun’s grip tightened around my fingers in reflex, “No other man touches you but me.” he said hoarsely. "Understand?" "Are you always this bossy, Mr. Byun?" "Do you understand?" he repeated, warning in his tone. "Okay okay...." Men are such a caveman sometimes. "But you are not allowed to touch another girl as well. No hug, No kiss, just holding hands. Deal?" "There's no woman I'd rather touch than you." Liking his answer, a pleased grin formed on my lips. “We're good then." I said, "Oh...And....please don't flirt or tease her like you always do to me." I added, "You know your mouth can be quite uh....powerful." Baekhyun was flirty by nature and we all knew just how good he was with words. Those who didn't know him well might mistake that he was genuinely interested. False hope sucks big time.   “My mouth? Powerful?" he asked. "Like how?" I shrugged, too embarrassed to explain, “I don't know.” “You mean like the time I made you come so hard with my mouth?” he muttered casually. God, how could someone be so blunt? "You really need a filter for your dirty words.” I said, shaking my head. An evil smirk spread across his lips. He leaned down so that his mouth was sitting next to my ear. “From what I recall," his voice lowered to a whisper, "your wet pussy enjoyed my dirty words just fine.” “Oh my god! You filthy bastard!” I pushed him away, feeling a flush of heat spreading across my cheek. At my flustered reaction, he burst into deep laughter, “You are such a prude.” he joked. I stared at him with an unamused expression. And as his laughter fell away, he stared back at me silently. "What?" Slowly, a feral grin formed across his face, hinting me that I was about to be attacked by his filthy words again. Oh no….no more.... "I....I have to get ready for the wedding." I muttered before crawling to the front edge of the bed to get away from him. But I could only go so far when Baekhyun hooked his fingers around my ankles from behind. I looked over my shoulder with a frown, "What are you doing?" Without a word, he pulled my legs back, causing a surprised squeal to escape through my mouth. My bent knees were being straightened at the tug of his hands that I dropped on all four. Next, his body fell on my back, pressing me down against the soft mattress with his weight. “Get off me! You are so heavy.” I let out a feebled cry as I struggled to move under him. And all he did was laugh, gloating over my helpless state. I moved my free hands behind and attacked his waist with soft tickles. It's his weak spot, I knew. When his body wriggled above mine, I took the opportunity to shift under him, but, he was so quick to pull me back into a tight hug. “Got you!” his arms and legs circled around me as he pressed my back against his chest. Having no strength to move any longer, I relaxed into his hold, "I can't believe you are twenty-nine." I panted. Baekhyun dropped his head on my shoulder, "I can't believe you're mine." It took me seconds to register his words and then the rhyme behind it. And as I did, I fell into uncontrollable laughters. As he laughed along with me, he planted soft kisses along the bare skin of my shoulder up to the side of my neck. The rumbling sound of his voice did happy things to my heart. His lips made its way up to my ear and when his teeth pulled at my earlobe, I hissed at the sudden sharp pain. “Does it hurt?” he asked, sounding a little sorry. “A little." I murmured, "But I like it." Baekhyun chuckled, the rumbling sound of his voice did happy things to my heart. "You're funny." he nibbled my ear again, gentler this time. Time melted away quickly when we were together. When I glanced up at the clock, I realized we'd been laying here for nearly four hours. "Baekhyun," I called out softly and he hummed in response. "You need to leave now else you'll be late for the wedding. We're supposed to arrive earlier remember?" “I know,” he breathed gently into my ear, “Let’s stay like this just a little longer."
Baekhyun had finally left my apartment to get himself ready for the wedding and well….his date. And I was left alone in my room as I changed into the dress Jisoo had specially designed for the bridesmaids. The dress was strapless with a sweetheart neckline, and the upper half of the bodice was embellished with a few sparks of glitter, not too shiny, but just enough to make it glow. There’s a thin sash fitting around the waist, and then, the tulle fabric fell like a waterfall from the waist down to the floor. Oh and the color. Sky blue. Just like the color of Cinderella’s dress. I stood before the dressing table and stared down at the display box where I stored my pieces of jewelry. I was looking for a necklace to match my dress but my eyes caught a glimpse of something and I picked it out. It was the Dior pearl earrings Baekhyun had gifted to me for my birthday. Smiling, I looked up at the mirror and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. While I was struggling trying to fit the sharp end of the stud into my pierced earlobe, someone knocked on my door. “Yeah?“ I responded. “It’s me. May I come in?” a male's voice met with my ears. “Sure. Come in.” Through the reflection in the mirror, I watched as the door eased open slowly. Soon, my brother entered the room and I turned around. He was wearing a single-breasted jacket in black and a grey silk tie knotted around the collar of his white dress shirt. His face beamed up as he saw me in my blue dress, “Look at you,” he admired, “You look stunning.” Have I mentioned that I loved my brother? “Thank you.” I gave him a self-deprecated smile. "You don't look so bad yourself." He walked over to my side and gave me a hug. As he pulled back, he looked down at the earring in my hand. "Need help with that?" I nodded, passing him the tiny piece of jewelry that looked a lot tinier in his big hand. I couldn’t help but grin at the delicate way he handled the earrings. When he was done with one ear, he proceeded with the other. He did it so effortlessly that it amazed me. “How could you be so good at this?” I wondered.   “I practiced a lot,” he grinned, “on the girl next door.” He was talking about Soyeon, and I wondered where she was. “Have you seen her?” I asked. He shook his head. “She’s still in her room. She wouldn’t let me come in.” “I think she’s probably freaking out right now,” I said as I giggled, “She seems to have a phobia of dresses.” “How the hell do you wear this stupid dress?” See.... My brother and I turned around to find the owner of the voice. And there she was, standing near the doorway, holding the blue sash she couldn’t figure out how to tie. My eyes sparkled at the sight of her in her bridesmaid’s dress. It was almost as similar to mine, but hers was designed with a Sabrina neckline, making her collarbone looks more prominent. I’ve always thought Soyeon looked naturally beautiful without makeup. Even wearing just her usual t-shirt and jeans—the casual girl-next-door style she preferred—she looked gorgeous. But this….this is just perfect. She’s perfect. And as I moved my gaze to Chanyeol who was standing next to me, I was struck speechless by the way he looked at Soyeon. His eyes were gleaming with so much affection as though she was the most precious thing in the world. I swore no man could possibly be more in love than my brother. “You must be the luckiest guy on earth,” I said in a soft whisper. “Don’t ever lose her.” “I know…” he smiled. And while keeping his loving gaze locked on his confused girlfriend, he whispered back to me, “I’m going to marry her someday.” My my…he had got to be the most romantic man in the universe. “You better do.” I murmured, “Because I’m not letting you marry anyone else besides her.” And I meant what I said. Growing up as siblings, Chanyeol and I had always been protective of each other. I’ve seen a few women come and go in his life. Some betrayed him and some just wanted him for what he had. At the end, he was left broken-hearted. As a sister, all I ever wanted was the best for my brother. And I knew he wanted the same for me too. I loved him so much that it broke me to see him hurt. Someone like him deserved much better than a woman who could never see him beyond his good-looks and his wealth. There's more to him than that. This man had the biggest heart that was made to love and he deserved to be loved as much too. With Soyeon, I knew I wouldn't have to worry. She loved my brother truly. She made him happy. In fact, I’ve never seen my brother happier than he is now. They had to stay together. Forever. “What are you guys whispering about?” Soyeon voice brought our attention back to her, “Can someone help me with my dress?”
I arrived at the venue two hours before the ceremony started. Soyeon and Chanyeol had to use the washroom and I was asked to go ahead without them. The moment I entered the hall, my eyes wandered over the vast space that could possibly hold a capacity of five hundred seated guests. Standing at the entrance, I spotted the other bridesmaids and groomsmen crowding around the front seats. They were in the middle of a conversation, incognizant of my arrival. I walked right down the aisle, underneath me was a red velvet’s carpet that led from the entrance towards the altar. Suho, the eldest one of the group and also the best man, was the first to notice me as I approached. At the sound of his voice calling my name, the other shifted their attention to me and I greeted each one of them with a friendly hug. These people were my closest friends, meaning, each one of them knew about my recent break-up with my ex and they were very very concerned. It was honestly a little tiring for me to convince them that I was alright. But, still, I was grateful to be surrounded by kind people like them who cared about me. A couple of minutes later, Chanyeol and Soyeon arrived at the hall and we were left with Baekhyun and Aera. While waiting for them, the guys started discussing a work-related topic, while the girls raved about the lovely wedding decorations. I, on the other hand, was more interested in the music ensemble that was currently having a soundcheck. The string quartet was playing the instrumental version of Elton John’s Can You Feel The Love Tonight. I made my way up the altar and took a seat on the vacant grand piano bench. While I sat and listened attentively to the music, I noticed something was missing. The melody. The strings were only playing the accompaniment without the melody. I wondered if Kyungsoo had hired a pianist or if the grand piano was here just for display. While I was immersed in my own thoughts, I felt a gentle brush of a hand across my cheek and a familiar low voice saying ‘You look beautiful’ to me. My heart skipped a beat and I looked up. Standing there was my boyfriend, Baekhyun, in his black suit. He was staring down at me with those warm eyes that had never failed to mesmerize me. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach. Will I ever stop feeling this way? That feeling of giddiness and excitement whenever he was around. God...I hoped not. “Thank you.” I smiled up at him. “You look fine too.” More than fine actually, you look perfect…. "Scoot over," he instructed, and I shifted to the side to make some room for him to sit. We were sitting side by side on the bench with our arms and our thighs touching against each other. Such simple contact caused my heart raced. All of a sudden, his fingers gripped my chin, turning my head so I was facing him. He made quick glances from left to right, looking almost suspicious. I was wondering what he was going to do until he leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine for a quick kiss. Gasping, I leaned back, “What if someone sees us?” I said in a loud whisper while shifting my gaze to the group of people down the stage. I felt a surge of relief when I saw that they were still occupied with a conversation among themselves. And I’d also noted the absence of his date, “Where is Aera?” I asked, looking back at him. “She's in the toilet,” he answered. “Why are you sitting here all alone?" My bottom lips jutted forward in a pout, "Because I'm sad that my boyfriend left me alone for another girl." "Sweetheart," his face hardened, suddenly turning serious, "You just have to say the word and I'll ditch my date for you." Shaking my head, I reached up to brush my knuckles across his cheek, "I was just kidding, my love." In a matter of seconds, the tension on his face dissipated, "Say that again?" he said, as though he couldn't believe what he just heard. "Say what? I was just kidding?" "No. The last two words." "My love?" His face lightened up and he hummed in satisfaction, "I like it." I chuckled, "I can see that." "Say it again." "My love." He looked so happy that it amazed me. Did he realize how endearing he is? I'd say the word over and over again just so I could see that smile on his face. "You fascinate me, Baekhyun." I told him sincerely as I ran my thumb across his cheek in a soft caress. He lifted his hand and placed it over mine, "You do the same to me too."
A/N: This was so frustrating because I’d work on it and and then it would just disappear! Multiple times! I guess this is what happens when you write directly onto tumblr and don’t use a backup of any kind . . . oh well, onward and upward. Hope you like the story!
Eliza was outside waiting for Kara and Alex the moment they arrived. As soon as they stepped out of the car, she spread her arms wide, giving them each a hug. “Girls! I’ve missed you so much!”
“We’ve missed you, too,” Alex said.
“Where’s Y/N?” Kara asked, peering past Eliza. You were usually the first to greet them.
“She was supposed to come out and help you with your bags, but I suppose she couldn’t peel herself away from her book.”
“New novel?” Kara asked.
“Textbook.”
Alex and Kara exchanged a look before Kara finally said, “That’s okay. I’ll take the bags. We can catch up with Y/N inside.”
By the time Alex and Eliza had reached the front door, Kara had already grabbed both bags, taken them upstairs to the bedroom, and made back down to the living room. Super Speed. Or, as Alex liked to call it, Super Show-Off.
You sat on the couch. Four open textbooks, and what seemed to be a million sheets of paper lay on the coffee table in front of you. Your nose was buried in a page, your hands covered in pen ink, and notes scribbled in every empty space.
“Hey. What’s up?” Kara asked.
You jumped, not having noticed your sister until right then. You spun around to snap at whoever was hovering over you, but you realized who it was just in time. “Kara!” You leaped off the couch, tackling your big sister in a hug. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t notice you.”
“That’s obvious,” Alex said as she strode through the room to join you two. “Hey kid.”
“Alex!” You tackled her even more excitedly than you had Kara, jumping into her arms and wrapping your legs around her waist. You clung to her so tightly, it was like you were a kid on the monkey bars.
When Alex had finally managed to pull you off, she held you at arms length to study you. “You have grown so much.”
“I’m the same height,” You said. “It’s been three months.”
“I mean you look more mature.”
Kara couldn’t hold in her laugh. After all, she had just watched you and Alex fight over whether or not she was going to hold you.
As Alex continued to look you over, her smile faltered. Even your ear to ear grin couldn’t hide the dark circles under your eyes. They were huge. “Is everything okay?”
“Yeah. It’s fine. Why?” You asked.
“You look exhausted.”
“I’ve been studying,” You shrugged.
“As you should be,” Eliza cut in. “I can’t have anything but the best grades from my med student.” Again, Kara and Alex exchanged a look. “I’ll let you three catch up while I make dinner.”
After an argument with your sisters, you finally agreed to set aside your studies. But only after Alex gave you her “you-had-better-listen-or-you’ll-regret-it” look. Your sisters helped you put everything away, but you micromanaged everything. You had to make sure all your notes were in their rightful place.
“How do you know where anything goes?” Kara asked. “This is a mess.”
“It’s an organized mess. And if it’s not put away just right, I’ll lose everything and have to start over completely.”
“You’re insane,” Alex said.
“I’m a med student,” You said. “It comes with the territory.”
-----------------------------------------------------
You wanted to study some more after dinner, but your sisters forced you to watch a movie with them instead. And when you tried to sneak some notes into sister night, another look from Alex told you there was no way you would be able to study that night.
When you returned to the couch, you squeezed in between your sisters. Alex immediately put your arm around you while Kara grabbed your hand. You felt warmer and more at peace than you had in months, though the thought of your schooling still weighed heavily at the back of your mind.
A few minutes in, you lay your head on Alex’s shoulder, and a few minutes after that, you were asleep.
Kara grabbed a blanket from the arm of the couch and threw it over you, carefully tucking the end behind your shoulder. “This school must really be getting to her. She never falls asleep during a movie.”
“It’s not even ten,” Alex said. “Y/N is pushing herself way too hard. She needs to slow down.”
----------------------------------------------------------
You woke up around one. Your sisters were asleep beside you. They had even wrapped a blanket around you, which was totally in character, but still extremely sweet.
Since they were both out, you took the opportunity to grab your textbooks once again.
You were still studying when they awoke.
“Y/N,” Kara said. “What time is it?”
“Almost seven,” You said absentmindedly.
“How long have you been studying?” Alex asked.
“Since one.”
Alex ripped the book from your hands. She didn’t think it was possible, but the bags under your eyes had grown even bigger. “You’re done.”
“Hey! I need that!”
“You don’t,” Kara said firmly. “You are done studying for the rest of the day.”
“It’s only seven.”
“And you’ve been at this for six hours,” Kara said. “You’ve had enough.”
That’s how it went over the next few days. Every time you would try to study, your sisters intervened. Kara tried to force you to take a nap, but once she left the room, you pulled out your notes. Needless to say, she was not pleased when she came to check on you.
“Give me the notes. This is not okay.”
It didn’t take long before your sisters refused to leave your side. If somebody had to do something, they made sure the other was free. They even agreed to keep watch overnight.
On the first night after they agreed to stay up and make sure you slept, you could not get to sleep, no matter what they tried. “I just need to study.” You insisted. “I’m going to fall behind.”
“Why are you so intent on this?” Alex asked as she sat on your bedside. Kara moved to your bed as well, crossing her legs after plopping down in the middle.
“It’s just, you two have done so much. You help people. You save lives. I’m not as cool as that. I don’t have superpowers or special combat training. I’m just awkward old me.”
“Hey,” Alex said. “You don’t need any of that. You are perfect just how you are.”
“I don’t want to fail you guys. Or mom.”
“You could never fail us,” Kara said. “Or mom.”
“I already have. She always compares me to you two. I just want to be able to do something important. And she’s right to push me to study - it just doesn’t come naturally. I have to spend extra time on it.”
“Are you kidding?” Kara said. “You could literally not pay any attention at school and still get straight A’s. You’re a freaking genius.”
“If you keep doing this, you will run yourself ragged, and then when it counts, you’ll be too tired. You won’t be able to function. We have to help you out of your chair half the time. You’re always exhausted. You’re always falling asleep. I’ve even heard you recite diseases in your sleep. Take a break. You’re being obsessive. It isn’t healthy, Y/N.”
“But I have to be the best.”
“You are the best,” Kara said. “Don’t kill yourself trying to be better than the best.”
“I guess you’re right.”
--------------------------------------------------------
The next morning, Alex made it downstairs while you and Kara were still asleep. You were so tired, Alex didn’t think you’d be out of bed all day. They finally seemed to have gotten through to you.
“Good morning, Alex,” Eliza said. “Where’s your sister? She’s usually up studying when I come down.”
“We need to talk, Mom,” Alex said.
Eliza set her coffee down to look at Alex. “What’s going on?”
“Y/N is so tired. She is running herself dry with med school and it’s only her second year. I was partying my second year of med school.”
“And you never finished,” Eliza said. “Y/N needs to be more accomplished than that.”
“More accomplished?” Alex started before taking a deep breath. This was about you, not her. “The point is, she is trying so hard to please you, it’s killing her.”
“She’s fine.”
“You’re not listening to me, Mom. “She’s on break and all she does is study. She finished all her homework for the next month before Kara and I got here and she is still obsessed.”
“Y/N is doing what she should to get through school,” Eliza said.
“She’s terrified of failing us! She feels like you compare her to Kara and I constantly, and that’s not fair to her. She’s still a kid. Let her be one. Stop pushing her so hard.”
“Of course I have high expectations. She should want to be like the two of you. You and Kara have accomplished so much. Why is it such a terrible thing if I want that for Y/N as well?”
“Because she’s not us, Mom. She’s not an alien. She doesn’t have superpowers. She is the victim of your - you’re craziness! And the longer she’s here, the worse it’s going to get.”
“What are you saying?”
“Y/N is going to spend the rest of break in National City with me. Where she won’t be judged.”
“Alex Danvers, you cannot -”
“I can,” Alex cut in. “And I am.”
