It’s honestly disheartening to see so much hate directed at Liko from Pokémon Horizons simply because she’s the new protagonist. Just because Liko is stepping into a new chapter of the Pokémon world doesn't mean she deserves any of the cruelty she’s been subjected to. We’ve had years of Ash, and while change can be tough, it’s important to remember that this is a new generation of fans, and Liko is her own character with her unique journey.

Let’s be clear: sending hateful messages, especially to a voice actor who is just doing their job, is beyond immature. The voice actor is a person, too, and they deserve respect. No one deserves to hear things like "Go f**k yourself" over a fictional character, let alone someone who has worked hard to bring that character to life.

Instead of attacking, how about we give Liko a chance? Every character in Pokémon has contributed to its legacy, and it's unfair to treat someone with disrespect just because they don’t fit into the mold of the past. Liko deserves to be celebrated for her individuality and the new adventures she brings to the series.

Let's show kindness, maturity, and respect for all the hard work that goes into making a beloved franchise like Pokémon thrive for future generations.

It just pisses me off how immature these Liko haters are to making art of her getting killed. You need to grow up and learn how to accept new protagonists. Just imagine being Liko's voice actor, waking up, checking your phone to see dms from Liko haters telling you to kill yourself. Absolutely NOBODY wants that in their dms.

You guys would do anything to get Ash back even to the point where you send Liko's voice actor DEATH THREATS. I can't stand these haters. They're everywhere. And I don't mean to call out anyone for making posts of Liko getting killed like **AHEM** -R- for example. But you can't hate a character for just existing.

In all honesty, you should stop hating her for being the new Pokémon protagonist.

I have the slight and terrible feeling that I'm going to really regret writing this. But I can't focus on the things I need to do, so here we go

Browsing the Amethio tag, I discovered that someone took the link to my poll about Friede x Amethio and sent an ask to an account saying "this fandon has shit taste". This is because 65.8% of the votes (111 votes, just for the record, which shouldn't be, like, even 1% of the Horizontes fandon) had marked the option "Wtf that shit's illegal"

I don't want to talk about this ship anymore, but there are people out there who ship it, so, HERE WE GO I GUESS

For me, and this is my opinion, the discussion of why Friede x Amethio is a horrible ship and deserves its own little corner of hell is no longer about age. It doesn't matter if Amethio is of age and legally an adult or not. This doesn't change the following facts that every episode Ametio has appeared in so far keeps throwing in our faces:

1- Amethio is, EMOTIONALLY, much more immature than Friede. Friede provokes Amethio, and he falls. When Amethio tried to instigate Friede in episode 25, Friede literally responded "I'm not a kid anymore to fall for that kind of provocation". This is the script throwing in your face how far from emotional maturity the two are

2 - Friede doesn't treat Amethio with respect. He continues making fun of him, annoying him and irritating him. Whether it's on purpose or not is beside the point: if it is, it's because Friede is really an asshole, and if it's not, it's because Friede can't realize that his actions are affecting someone else in an extremely negative way (which also It's a horrible option!!!)

I wanted to be calmer in my first post on the subject, but I'm stressed today and I don't need someone calling the fandon "dummies" because they don't agree with the crap ship you like. People have tastes. People have their own ideas. People have their own interpretations of media. There are people who see the things I just mentioned and see "enemies to lovers", when it is an extremely toxic and unbalanced relationship. EVEN IF BOTH OF THEM WERE ADULTS IT WOULD STILL BE TOXIC AND UNBALANCED. I want Amethio to become an RVT, but first Friede will have to work hard to redeem himself for all the stress he put Amethio through and the way he treated him.

And as for Amethio x Liko, I prefer to think of them as friends/sibling. The two are very similar, and with each passing day a new parallel between them appears. They're basically a walking "two sides of the same coin", and I really want to see how their dynamic continues (especially after ep 46)

Then that's it. I hate Friede x Amethio. I don't care about Liko x Amethio. I don't care if you think Amethio is of age, if he's 30 years old or if he's someone's reincarnation. His relationship with Friede is toxic, unbalanced, and Amethio needs distance from that idiot with aviator glasses, not a romantic relationship with him.

Now I'm going to do my homework

And please, don't reblog this post or comment on this post to say that I'm wrong and that Friede x Amethio is good. I am a 16 year old girl. If someone treated me the way Friede treats Amethio, I would react the same way he did. Maybe a little worse. And I definitely wouldn't want people shipping me with that person.

this guy is really interesting. i hope they stretch out his character more, because all he's known for is just being the hero when liko and roy are getting cooked. it's not enjoyable anymore the 1st time, but im glad we got to know more about his backstory and pikachu, i think that episode was more enjoyable than the recent ones, because it actually felt like i was watching pokemon the anime. anyway sorry for the yap, this was fun to do.

since friede is definitely a social house, people wonder how you guys met. it's like opposites attract, or sun and moon.

he's dedicated into making sure you're comfortable around the environment of the ship. friede asks you to go but never forces you out during their bonding moments, (picnics)

and he'd talk for you when there's way too much people, or tell this people to go away for you. he's straight forward anyway.

you're introverted (of course,) so you've never really talked to the kids, but they've always wanted to talk to you, just too shy to do so. liko and roy would ask friede, and he'd all go all golden retriever (or pikachu) mode. he rambles about you, in the most inlove way possible

captain pikachu always had a liking to you, this electric rats love for you probably competes friede's love for you! like pokemon like trainer, what can i say? friede's also not bothered with it, he thinks of it as his two favorite people bonding.

speaking of bonding, when everyone else in the rising volt tacklers are asleep–he'd take you out to ride charizard, not anywhere special preferably just a stroll around places or star gazing if you're a fan of that.

he'll do anything you'd want when he has free time, journaling? he'll journal and make crappy stickers to design it with! reading? friede has alot of books from his time as a passionate professor (not that he's not passionate anymore.)

he encourages you to socialize with others, but remember that it's alright to take things slowly.

when you do socialize with others, friede is watching far away proud. he knows you have a social battery though, and can take you out of the conversation when you feel discomfort.

and he's pretty supportive in whatever you do! he'll support your boundaries and make sure other people support and respect them. friede isn't always there, but captain surely is, when you're missing friede there's always this gremlin rat as a replacement.

It's been said pretty much for years now that they planned a series for Netflix, and the leaks confirmed it. Eight episodes were planned for a release this year. It's live-action. This isn't Concierge.

Liko and Roy are 13 and 12 respectively. Still canon to me.

Dot initially wasn't planned. Quaxly would have gone to Liko or Roy.

Friede is 20s-ish while Orla is 18. (Finalized versions seem to be older, just given the previous flashback in Ep18 has a 4-6yr old Liko, and Orla already appeared to be an adult there)

Friede betrays the RVT and joins the Explorers, something about a missing brother? (Which has never been alluded to, so doubt.)

Original six Heroes were supposed to be Blastoise, Pachirisu, Rayquaza, Entei, Moltres, and Zeraora.

Three year storyline intended, so perhaps ending in 2025? That said, Terastal Training arc wasn't originally intended so might go on for longer. According to the leaks, ZA was intended for this year, so they might have pushed back the anime a bit too.

Was originally intended to be a movie, with Ash returning for an SV series (with recurring characters like Leon and Goh), but that was scrapped and HZ became the full series instead.

Ash was intended to have a Capsakid, Klawf, and Fuecoco.

Still set in Ashime verse.

A new movie was planned too. Codename Bauer. Was set to be released in 2023, but might either be in development hell or be cancelled. New Pokemon named Aperon, with the main protagonist being a new character named Akari. It's set in modern-day Kanto and the featured Mythical Pokémon of the plot is Mew. The idea was that the film will touch modern society problems, like cyber bullying.

There was also sequel to Detective Pikachu called "The Great Detective Pikachu" set to be released this year. We don't know if the project is still ongoing or cancelled. I also don't know if this is like a proper image leak, or just something a fan threw together in response to the new information.

Another new anime, code name RELOAD.

This is an all-ages anime series co-produced with Twin Engine (TE), a planning and production company affiliated with Studio Colorido.

12 episodes over the course of a year, 21min each.

The 12 episodes will be split into 4 groups of 3 episodes each, with event screenings in Japanese theaters, and have a wide distribution across online streaming platforms.

Originally planned for release in 2023, current status unknown.

I just looked at the ruined childhood person's account and they've posted a lot about hating Liko. I feel like this person goes into the Pokémon Horizons tag to be angry.

Liko as a Female Protagonist

I really respect the route that Horizons took with Liko as a protagonist. Her core strengths are her sensitivity and empathy. I feel like in modern media, being gentle or sensitive is often presented as a weakness. I think this is partially because it can be seen as a lack of integrity or courage. However, gentleness and vulnerability are also stereotypically feminine traits. For many 'strong female characters', there's a fear of highlighting 'feminine' traits like sensitivity, in case the character is perceived as a 'damsel in distress'.

Liko's gentle nature and attunement to the feelings of others are the qualities that make her such an amazing character. She is able to understand the emotions of people and pokemon in unique ways. She is also incredibly caring and worries for the wellbeing of others. There are too many examples of this to fit into one post, but the first that comes to mind is Hatenna's premier episode. Liko is the first person to sense that something is wrong with Hatena, and immediately takes it into her care. This leads to Hatenna bonding with the rvts and joining Liko's team.

Like all protagonists, Liko has her share of flaws. However, this does not take away from her core strengths. There are times when Liko's overthinking traps her, such as when she attempts to martyer herself to the Explorers in episode two. Despite this, she always overcomes setbacks and is self-aware enough to take advice from others. The earliest example of this is the same episode I just mentioned, where Sprigatito prompts Liko to not back down and face the Explorers head on.

So while Liko is not faultless, her kindness and empathy is what sets her apart from other characters in the show. As the series progresses, Liko develops the confidence to play to her strengths more: She raises a nervous Hatenna into a badass Hattrem, forms a deep bond with Dot, and shows the importance of compassion. Through her emotional intelligence and maturity, she has a sixth sense for the needs of people and pokemon. Recently in episode 75, Liko was able to fully gain Terapagos' trust despite its tragic past, showing how far she has come as a trainer.

Liko's sensitivity does not make her weak, nor does it make her a damsel in distress. Ultimately, she will sacrifice anything to help others, which is what makes her heroic. Of course, I'm not suggesting that all female characters should be like Liko. Variety is so important. However, she acts as a reminder that sensitivity or 'feminine' traits in general are just as important as 'masculine' traits like boldness or rationality. She is so much more than a 'strong female character' in my book.

Unlike the Snap Kids, Liko understood Palafin's wishes. As amazing as it would be to see, it's clear it doesn't want anyone to see its Forme Change sequence. And it made Palafin very happy that Liko respected that.

And when she helped cover for it when the photographers were preventing it from helping...

It let Liko see it. She got to see it, because she earned Palafin's trust.✨

Speaking of the ways characters refer to each other, it always stood out to me that Liko has always referred to Amethio just by his name (starting from HZ007, which was the first time she referred to him by his name).

Because at the time, Liko was still hesitant to address some characters just by their names. Ann, her friend from school, had to give Liko permission to call her just "Ann" back in HZ001 because Liko initially called her "Ann-san". At the beginning, Liko (and Roy too) was also using honorifics with the Rising Volt Tacklers since they are adults. Both Liko and Roy had to be given express permission by Friede in HZ007 to drop the formalities so they could start calling everyone by their names since they were going to be full-fledged members of the group. Even upon meeting Nemo afterwards in HZ010 (someone who became a friend to both Liko and Roy), Liko initially used honorifics with her ("Nemo-san") and Nemo had a moment when she gave both Liko and Roy permission to call her just "Nemo".

So, Liko calling Amethio just by his name from the beginning, and specifically during that time window when Liko was still adjusting to the ways she referred to other people or had to be given permission to drop formalities, felt meaningful to me. It says a lot about the way she sees him and shows that he's always been just "Amethio" in her mind.

And it also says a lot about Liko's relationship with Roy and the level of comfort both characters have with each other that she also always called him just "Roy" from the start. They instantly clicked and became friends and as far as I can recall, he is the first character in the series she was on first name basis with and who didn't have to tell her to stop being formal.

I really hope to see Liko interacting with Hassel. She seems to like drawing and stuff like that, Hassel is an art teacher, so I think it would be very interesting to see the two interact and see Liko attending his classes. Also, Hassel gives two or three classes on Tera Jewels in the games, and since Liko, Roy and Dot are going to Academia Naranja precisely to train terastalization, it makes sense in my head for them attend at least one of his classes.

I also think it would be interesting to see Jaqc and the history teacher I forgot the name of interacting with Dot and Roy respectively. Jaqc created the pokedex app, and Dot created the RVT one, so I think it would be cool to see them interact and talk about it. Roy has an old Poké Ball that would definitely interest the history teacher, so it makes sense in my head for us to have at least one scene with her.
