I like reading DE fanfic but imo the characterization of Harry and Kim is like several steps away from canon in the majority of fics. There is a dynamic that writers tend to favor that is Harry as expressive, clingy, does dumb and impulsive things for the sake of it and Kim the stoic, patient, empathetic minimalist.

And in canon Harry pretty explicitly struggles to form regular facial expressions while Kim has to put substantial effort into controlling his. Harry can choose to go off without Kim or attempt to drive him away while Kim will very rarely leave him alone. Kim is also almost always the one to initiate physical contact between them. Harry typically has some sort of internal reasoning behind his actions, even if they seem nonsensical to an onlooker, but Kim will often do things or agree to plans just because it amuses him.

The biggest thing that bothers me is that in fics Kim often takes on a role of a sort of mediator, settling disagreements, deescalating situations, clearing up misunderstandings. I think that in many ways, that’s the kind of person that he aspires to be, but canonically he has pretty fucking awful people skills. He can barely have a conversation without putting on the role of Cop. I think that one of the main things he admires about Harry is his ability to read people and connect with them.

Idk man. Let Kim be a socially awkward dork and let Harry have more depth than a golden retriever archetype

The study found that compared to short-haul flights without enforced masking, long-haul flights with no strict masking had a 25.93-fold increase in COVID-19 incidence rates, while medium-haul flights had a 4.66-fold higher incidence rate. However, long-haul flights where masking was enforced reported no transmission of SARS-CoV-2, indicating that masking could significantly lower aircraft-acquired COVID-19.

Furthermore, in flights with unenforced masking, each hourly increase in flight duration increased the transmission incidence rate by 1.53-fold. The reduced duration of exposure to aerosols and the non-inclusion of meals make shorter flights safer since they lower the probability of expelling aerosol particles or coming in contact with them.

The study also found that long-haul flights with enforced masking had almost no reports of SARS-CoV-2 transmission within the aircraft despite meals being served. The researchers believe the enforced masking could have caused the passengers to eat as quickly as possible. Furthermore, enforced masking also allows the flight attendants to ensure that passengers are appropriately masked.

Okay, this is pretty incredible. A 3D artist, consulting scholars and archaeologists, worked for a year and a half in Blender to create a reconstruction of pre-Columbian Tenochtitlán, complete with the surrounding landscape. It’s staggeringly beautiful, and—at least to me—gives a wonderful impression of the city as a place where people worked and lived and worshiped

I can't lie, I find it very odd that posts cautioning people against donating to individual* campaigns and promoting the idea of supporting mutual aid efforts and community kitchens in Gaza can rack up 10k+ notes--while a post promoting a community kitchen (that I can personally vouch for) struggles to get 1k notes, and has barely pulled in a couple hundred dollars over the past week.

I actively try to avoid using guilting tactics in fundraising, but this is weird to me. It's like people are using these posts as an excuse not to do things they already didn't want to do anyway, rather than actually taking their recommendations on board...
