I did write the summary on the wiki lol - happy to see that people use it! On a separate topic, and if you're interested, I remembered another bonus story released for Jump Victory Carnival 2021 about Luffy and Law bug hunting for beetles (imgur /a/Txt6ayl). It hasn't been included in any of the volumes (like the rest of the JVC stories)

One thing that I think a lot of Disco Elysium meta misses (likely because a lot of it is very clearly written by young Americans writing from an intensely American-centric cultural perspective without even really realizing it) is that one of the singular and central themes of the game is massive-scale generational trauma in a home that is economically collapsing as its resources and people are being drained by an occupation.  People have noted that no one tries to help Harry, despite the fact his mental illness is incredibly obvious to everyone around him.  He tells Kim that he completely lost his memory, and Kim politely asks him to focus on the work.  He tells Gottlieb that he had a heart attack, and Gottlieb tells him that if he’s still alive it couldn’t have been that bad.  That he’ll drop dead sooner or later, but then so does everyone.
And that’s the most important thing: so does everyone.  Look at Martinaise.  Look at the world in which Harry lives.  It is not our own, but it is adjacent to ours.  More specifically, it is clearly adjacent to the states of the Eastern Bloc: overtaken and occupied by a faraway government that clearly doesn’t care about Revachol or its people.  And that is obvious in every tired face, every defeated citizen, everyone trying to eke out a little happiness or meaning in spite of the overwhelming trauma and damage around them.  The buildings are still half-destroyed.  The bullet holes are still in the walls.  The revolution was decades before, but it still feels to the people there like a fresh wound.  The number of men of Harry’s generation who are not alcoholic or otherwise deeply fucked up are very few.  Some, like Kim, hide it better, but the deeper you dig into his history, the more you realize how damaged Kim is.  He’s more than a little trigger happy, and hates that about himself, but he is a product of his environment: Kim’s entire life is seeing people he cared about shot and killed, so his instinct now is to shoot first himself, to protect those few people left who still matter to him.
Harry is not unique in his trauma.  He is a distillation of an entire culture of people who tried to rise up and make something beautiful, and were instead routed and occupied.  He is trapped between the occupation and the people on the ground, along with all the rest of the RCM.  Their authority comes from the occupying government, but it is implied that they were formed out of the remnants of the citizens militia which sprung up from Revachol itself as a way to try to mitigate some of the horrors being committed on its streets.  The Moralintern sure as hell wasn’t going to get their hands dirty, so they happily conscripted (and therefore could better control) this group, who are only recognized in certain places, and whose authority mostly amounts to giving out fines.  The RCM is corrupt, but it is corrupt in the same way its culture is.  Bribes are considered standard with them, not a moral failing, but a necessity, so long as those bribes are correctly logged as ‘donations’.  It’s how the RCM stays afloat, and the rest of Revachol completely understands that.  Everyone would take a bribe if it meant they kept eating.  Everyone would take a little under-the-table money if it meant keeping a roof over their heads.  The officersof the RCM certainly don’t make enough to see a doctor.  They have an in-house lazarus, and if he can’t fix them they just die.  Mental health care?  What mental health care?  Harry doesn’t get it for the same reason no one else does: it doesn’t really seem to exist.  There are no counselors, no psychologists, no psychiatrists.  How would they even start?  If the world is what is broken, if everyone is suffering a similar catastrophic amount, it makes sense that Harry’s trauma would simply get rolled up with all the rest.  Kim asks him to get on with the job because Harry’s suffering is not remarkable in Revachol.  He is one of an entire generation who have an astronomical number of orphans from the revolution, and so many younger people are left more or less orphans as their parents drink themselves into oblivion like Cuno’s father.  So Harry’s truly unique attribute is embodying all that trauma, having it all inside of him, filling him to bursting.
To really engage with the themes of the game, engaging first and foremost with the reality of Revachol is imperative.  Imposing our own reality onto Revachol, particularly if coming from an American perspective (which tend to have the habit of both viewing the world through an American lens and not realizing they’re doing it because they’ve never experienced a different lens), will always feel shallow to me because of this.
All that is to say, I would love to hear some more explicitly European meta about this game, and especially Eastern European meta.  If anyone can point me to some good, juicy essays from that perspective, I would be grateful!

Champion of my Heart
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: requested || in which reader is a famous singer and takes a break from tour to go watch luke play in the “Hughes bowl” but gets mobbed by the media.
Warnings: use of y/n, ended up being more about reader than about luke and reader, unedited, grammatical errors, use of song added as readers “song” I do not own this song, I am not claiming to own this song
Word Count: 1.1k
Notes: requested via ask, sorry this turned out more about reader than about the relationship it just came out of me this was at 1:30am when I woke up randomly
Tumblr media
As the pop star, y/n, stepped off the private jet that had brought her from her latest tour stop to Newark, New Jersey, she couldn't help but feel a an overwhelming sense of excitement and relief to be back in the same state as her favorite person. Y/n had been on tour for the last two months, performing to sold-out crowds night after night. Living out of a tour bus and sleeping everywhere but the once place that felt like home, and she was exhausted. She was living her dream out and she loves what she does, she’s just being run ragged.
But she had promised herself that she would take a break, even if it was just for one night, to do something she loved - watch her boyfriend, Luke, and his brother who ironically is also his brother, Jack, play hockey for the New Jersey Devils.
Y/n had met Luke one night at small show held at Rutgers University, when he and Jack had come out to see it at the college. The boys getting noticed by quite a few of the girls on campus and a few athletes, security invited them backstage to a different green room, but y/n being curious who else would be swarmed fans went to greet them . Which led to her and Luke hitting it off immediately, bonding over their shared love of music and hockey. And as their relationship blossomed, she became a regular at Devils games, cheering on Luke and Jack from the stands.
But tonight was special. Tonight, the Devils were playing the Vancouver Canucks, and y/n knew that Luke's oldest brother, Quinn, is the captain for the Canucks. Until tonight she hasn’t seen the three brothers play against each other before, and she couldn't wait to see the intensity and the competition that she’s heard all about.
As she made her way to her seat with in Prudential Center, y/n was practically mobbed by a few fans and numerous droves of paparazzi. She smiled and waved, taking selfies and signing autographs, but she was also careful to keep her focus on the game once puck drop happened. She was there to see her man and his brother’s play, and tonight she was just another Devils fan in the stands. She didn't want to distract Luke or Jack, and she desperately wanted to be a normal girlfriend there to give support.
The game was intense, with both teams fighting hard for every chance at the puck. Y/n on the edge of her seat, screaming and cheering along with the rest of the crowd. Often times she found herself clutching to the bottom of her Luke jersey, murmuring please over and over as he loaded up for a shot. Or the hitch in her breathing when he went down because of a hard hit into the boards.
When the final buzzer sounded and the Devils had emerged victorious, and y/n was over the moon. She wasn’t sure if it was because she had never been so anxious over a game, because they won, or because she gets to see Luke now.
As she waited for Luke to come out of the locker room, y/n was surrounded by reporters and camera crews.
If all the media is out here who is interviewing the teams? She asked herself.
They were all clamoring for her attention, asking her questions about her new album and her love life. She tried to brush them off, but they were truly relentless.
"Is your new album about Luke?" one reporter asked, shoving a microphone in her face.
"No comment," Y/n replied, smiling sweetly.
"But what about your ex-boyfriend, Josh?" another reporter chimed in. "Is the album about him then?" shoving a different microphone in her face.
Y/n rolled her eyes. "I've said it before, and I'll say it again - yes my music is about my experiences in life and my emotions that coincide with said experiences. That said it does mean it has to be about any one person."
But the reporters wouldn't let up. They kept asking questions, trying to get a rise out of her. That's when she spotted Luke, emerging from the locker room with a huge grin on his face. Y/n’s heart skipped a beat as she saw him, and she knew exactly what to do to nip this in the butt.
With zero hesitation, y/n pushed through the crowd of reporters and ran directly to Luke. She jumped into his arms, wrapping her legs around his waist, and planted a long, languid, passionate kiss on his lips. Probably the most PDA the two have ever displayed in their lives. The crowd around them erupted in cheers and applause, and the reporters were left stunned and silent.
Luke laughed and hugged her to him tightly, spinning her around in a circle while still having her wrapped around his waist. "I guess that answers all your questions," he said sarcastically, winking at the reporters.
Y/n grinned looking directly at her boyfriend, feeling happy and carefree for the first time in months. She knew that she had made a statement, and that the media would be talking about this kiss for weeks to come. But she didn't care. She was just happy to be with Luke, and to have been able to support him and his team.
As they made their way out of the arena, she leaned her head on Luke's shoulder. "Thanks for getting the win for me tonight," she joked, smiling up at him.
"Anytime baby," Luke replied, squeezing her hand. "And thanks for that kiss, if I had to wait any longer I might have died from lack of attention. Plus I think that shut them up pretty effectively."
Y/n giggled at her dramatic boy. "I'm always happy to help," she said, snuggling into his side. “When we get in the car, I have something to play for you. I think you’re really going to like it.” Luke gave her a questioning look as he opened her door, letting her get in first. She pulled out a demo album, and showed him the cover.
‘Champion of my Heart’
Luke held the demo in his hands and he studied it for a moment. “Is it about..” he paused looking up to meet her eyes. “Is it really about you and I?” Y/n nodded and smiled slightly. Luke moved around the front of the car quickly, anxious to enter the car. “Remember it’s not the final version, but i wanted you hear some of the songs first.” Luke made eye contact with her again. “First, as in first first?” He needed the clarification, like she needed his approval. “Yes, first outside of my recording crew. He leaned over the console and softly cupped her cheek. “I don’t tell you enough. I love you, you’re amazing, you’re beautiful, and I am the luckiest person in the wo— no entire universe to have you.” Luke placed the softest kiss on her lips as the first track begins to play.

cw captive whumpee, injury, betrayal, tortured for information, intimate whumper
After hours of torture, of beatings, of sleep deprivation, Whumpee finally gives in. Coughing up a mouthful of blood onto the ground at Whumper’s feet, they beg, “S-stop, please. No more, I can’t—I'll tell you, I-I'll tell you everything.”
“You lasted longer than I thought.” Whumper crouches down in front of them, taking Whumpee’s chin in their hand and tilting their head up. Their expression is almost sympathetic as they take in Whumpee’s teary eyes and bruised face. “But it’s okay. It’ll all be over if you give me the information I need. And then, just think how nice it will be to finally rest. You can sleep in a real bed while your injuries heal.”
Whumpee doesn’t need any more convincing. They choke out the information through sobs, clinging to Whumper, and each heave of their chest sends pain shooting through their broken ribs. But it will be over soon—Whumpee doesn’t know why they even held out this long if they were just going to break anyway.
Whumper strokes their hair gently as they give up the secrets they were trained to die for. Endangering their team’s entire operation and perhaps their lives. But then again, it’s not like Whumpee’s team came to rescue them—as Whumper had reminded them countless times. And they were right.
“Good…that’s perfect, Whumpee,” Whumper praises after they’ve finished spilling every bit of information that had been requested, and then some. “Thanks to you, your team won’t stand a chance against me, now.”
A sense of relief washes over Whumpee. It's done—the suffering is finally over with. They want to sleep until the pain no longer clings to their bones and laces every movement. However, their relief is quickly replaced by a fresh bout of fear at the realization of what they’ve just done. “They’ll know it was me,” Whumpee whispers brokenly.
“Of course they will,” Whumper says, matter-of-fact. “And they will go looking for you. And if they find you, they will kill you.”
Whumpee shakes their head. “Worse,” they correct. “They’ll do so much worse than just kill me.”
A sharp pain shoots through their side and they groan, clutching at one of their wounds. Whumper gathers them into their arms before they collapse completely, and assures Whumpee, “That’s why you will be staying with me. In exchange for giving up the information I needed, you will be under my protection.”
Whumpee can’t possibly have heard them right. They must be delirious from the pain. “W-what?” they stammer. Everything is growing fuzzy, and now that they’re being held in Whumper’s arms, they just want to let their eyes fall shut and surrender to sleep.
The gentle fingers brushing back Whumpee’s hair lull them further into unconsciousness as Whumper murmurs, “I can’t just give you up now, sweetheart. I think you’d make a valuable addition to my team.”
Whumpee hums in agreement, not quite sure what they’re agreeing to, but if it means an end to the pain, they’ll do just about anything.
“You were never cut out for this line of work, were you?” Whumper says teasingly. They lift Whumpee in their arms and begin carrying them somewhere, but the gentle rocking motion of their steps eases Whumpee into sleep long before they find out where they’re being taken.

Bunny Bonding
(Legend x Fem!Reader) Chapter 1 / 2 / 3
Warnings: Mentions of painful transformation. Nothing very explicit but it's there.
‘Too slow!!’ You teased, landing on the ground behind him.
‘Ohh~ you just wait!’ Legend took off. Running towards you as fast as he could only for you to hop right over him once more and dashed off towards where Wild was sitting on the ground.
‘Geez no wonder you need those magic boots!’ You laughed, from where you had hid behind the cook. ‘You're slower than- ahh!’
Anticipating you'd use him as a barrier, Legend snuck up behind you. Springing forward, he tackled you to the ground. Rolling around on the ground before he finally had you pinned.
“Ha! Gotcha ya!”
You laughed. The sound so intoxicating that Legend couldn't help but join you.
Never in his wildest dreams did he think he would actually enjoy being in this form. The need to survive had always outweighed everything else. Instincts to run, hide, run, hide, run, hide, left no room to simply run for fun. To explore or simply exist.
So when you had bumped into him, taunting him to try and catch you, he humored the idea. Chalking it up as a nice distraction.
It ended up being the most fun he's had in months.
Years even.
“Hylia, get a room you guys!” Wild groans, nudging Legend off of you with his foot. “Or a hole or whatever the equivalent is for bunnies.”
Legend swore his fur turned a darker shade of pink.
“Shut it! Where's that damn rancher? Shouldn't he be back already?”
Per his own insistence, they had stopped a little ways beyond the meeting spot. Opting for Twilight to go and retrieve the sword rather than walk into the spot where the entire chain was likely waiting by this point. Wild stayed behind, not wanting to leave 2 unarmed companions vulnerable which you both appreciated.
‘I'm sure he’ll be back soon.’ You laughed again, easing away the tension.
‘Vet?’ you asked hesitantly. ‘This is gonna work right? I'm not gonna just be stuck like this forever?’
Legend couldn't help but chuckle. Having asked himself that same question thousands of times. ‘Yeah, it’ll work. And if not I’ll think of something else k?’
You nodded, flopping onto the ground beside him. Nose twitching as you close your eyes. Legend followed your lead. Laying down, pressed into your side and for once wishing he could simply stay the way he was.
But surely Twilight would be back soon and the two of you could finally go back to normal. Back on 2 legs with opposable thumbs.
The thought made his bones ache in anticipation. Allowing for a different train of thought to overtake his mind.
‘(Y/N)?’ The words felt heavy in his chest. The last thing he wanted to do was cause you more stress, but the thought of keeping you in the dark felt worse.
‘I…I should probably warn you. Transforming back, it's…it's not pleasant.’
You looked directly at him. ‘What do you mean?’
‘I won't lie to you. Based on personal experience? It's bad. It's gonna be painful. You're gonna want to fight against it. Dont. That'll just make it worse.”
Your ears flattened by your head. Back leg thumping against the ground. Legend pressed himself further into you, nuzzling his face into yours.
‘Hey it's gonna be okay. I’ll be right there the whole time. Err uhh..if you want that is… Unless you'd prefer Twili-”
“Stay! Please stay…” You nuzzled him back. Giving a small lick near his nose.
Legend's heart nearly burst from his chest. Returning the gesture by nibbling on your ears. “Sure. I'll make sure there's a potion waiting for you when it's over, okay?’
You nodded just as Twilight chose that moment to come into view. The Master Sword across his back. “Sorry guys, Cap and Four were pretty worried bout ya. You'll definitely be gettin questions when we head back which we should quickly. Time seems ready to march down ‘ere himself.” He drew the sword, setting it down on the ground a few inches in front of you.
‘Alright’ Legend said gently ‘You ready?’ you shook your head violently, backing away from the sword. ‘That's okay, take your time.” He nuzzles his face some more, giving a few more soft nips to your ear. ‘Do you want me to go first?’
A small nod and Legend gave a soft lick to the top of your head for reassurance. He approached the sword, placing a paw on its handle. His bones immediately shifted around, growing and rearranging in a twisting mess of blurring pain. He grunted, flexing his fingers around the sword's hilt. He relished at the feeling of his sword and shield still strapped to his back, and the weight of his bag by his hip.
Twilight snatched up the dark shard from where it laid on the ground, placing it back around his neck. “You a’right?” Legend nodded, running a hand through pink stained hair.
Damn, the pink had only faded a few weeks ago from the last time.
He groaned but brushed the thought away. Focusing all his attention on your quivering form.
He reached for you and you darted into his lap. You burrowed into his tunic as his arm secured around you. His other hand rested on your back, scratching ever so lightly. He wanted to scoop you up and carry you away from it all. Save you from the pain that laid before you.
A wet nose grazed his arm cautiously. Wolfie looked up at him with the biggest puppy eyes Legend had ever witnessed. He sighed, letting his arm fall just enough for Wolfie to stick his nose closer. A moment later his tongue swiped out, licking her face which she immediately scrubbed at.
Legend rolled his eyes, pushing Wolfie away. “Dins sake Rancher she's gonna drown from slobber.” He and Wild both laughed at that. You perked up at the noise, looking between him and the sword.
Legend placed you beside him in front of the sword. He reached into his bag, pulling out one of his red potions and placing it nearby.
“What's the potion for?” Wild asked, scooting a bit closer.
“Pain. Transformation hurts like hell. Especially the first time and even more so if it was forced.” Legend explained, running a hand over your back.
“Oh shit. Twi makes it look so simple”
“You get used to it after a while. Plus Twilight can control it which doesn't make it as bad.” Wolfie bobbed his head up and down in agreement, moving to sit next to Wild.
“Alright, ready? Deep breath” He nudged the sword closer so your paw touched its blade.
He didn't dare touch you as your body shook violently. Limbs stretching back into their regular size. The sound of crunching bones made his stomach flip as he dug his fingers into the ground. Tears pricked at his eyes when your scream rang out. He leaned over, encouraging you to just let it happen and not fight against the magic.
It might as well have been hours by the time your Hylian form was laid out on the ground beside him. You were curled in on yourself, still shaking as you gasped for breath. Legend grabbed the potion, uncorking it as he shifted closer to your head.
“Take a sip, it'll help.” He brushed your hair away from your face. Hair that was now the same color your fur had been.
Your eyes peeled open, tears streaked down your face as he put the bottle to your lips. You took 2 sips, cringing at its taste before pulling away
“You did great” Legend whispered, running his fingers up and down your spine. Wolfie and Wild rushed forward as well. The ladder asking repeatedly if you needed anything. Wolfie laid down beside you, giving small licks to your face.
You waved the overly sized dog off, muttering about his dog breath. Wiping your face with your sleeve, groaning in pain.
“We should get going before Time sends someone to look for us. Can you walk?”
You struggled to push yourself up but got to your knees. “Y-yeah..”
“Liar.” Legend threw your arm over his shoulders, grabbing your waist as he lifted you to your feet. You winced, trying to take a shaky step forward. He leaned down, ready to simply sweep you up but you pushed against him.
“No..no I can walk I just…I just need a sec.” You tried again, succeeding even though half your weight was on Legend.
The four of you started making your way to the others. Still using Legend as a crutch as you regained your strength and balance.
“Thank you, by the way…” you whispered. “For doing that. You didn't seem particularly fond of that form.”
“And you'd be correct so I better not catch you telling any of the others about it either! Otherwise you'll be joining Wild in that hidden cave.”
You snickered. “Alright fine I guess it's the least I could do.” You leaned your head on his shoulder just for a moment. ‘But seriously Link, thanks.”
Legend's smile turned into a small smirk. “Don't mention it Bun.” Using the stupid nickname Sky gave him on you.
“Oh my goddess that makes so much sense now… but you do know I'm a hare right? Distinctly NOT a bunny?”
Legend shrugged “close enough”. Sending you a small wink that had your cheeks tinted pink.
____
Facing the others was a nightmare.
Everyone was quick to notice the two of you, now with both different hair colors than this morning. Wars looked mortified, grabbing at his own hair in disbelief while Hyrule looked especially concerned.
“Geez (Y/N) I know Wild can be a lot but was it really that stressful?” Some of the others chuckled. Continuing to bombard you with questions
You noticed Wars leaning over to Twilight. Concern written all over his face as he motioned to his hair “Do I need to be worried?”
Twi just gave him a sly wink and Wars looked downright terrified. “Legend I don't know what kind of magic you use but I am NEVER pairing off with you alone again.”
Legend just rolled his eyes, helping you sit down.
Time came up, eyeing the both of you curiously. “Anything you'd like to share?”
“No.” You both said simultaneously.
Time looked to Twilight and Wild. Both who simply shrugged and made themselves scarce. Time didn't press the issue, instead changing the subject to if your two groups had found anything useful, which neither of you had.
“Alright. Let's find a place for a camp.” Time suggested with no protests.
Legend hung to the back of the group. Avoiding the others inevitable teasing of the now returned atrocious hair color. He watched you walk alongside Wind. The young sailor hanging off of you that had you flinching with residual pain that only a select few of them noticed. He forced himself to stay back. You didn't need him anymore. He knew you could take care of yourself and that you would be fine. Everything was back to normal.
Normal.
Just like it had been this morning.
It was as if nothing happened.
As if none of it had happened.
None of the soft touches or comforting gestures that were shared. The game of chase or reassuring words whispered as if secret to everyone else.
It was like nothing happened.
Isn't that what he asked for? To go back to normal?
Why did ‘normal’ now feel so wrong?
Sky joined him at the back of the group. The master sword having been returned to his back.
“So,” he whispered. “You gonna tell me or do I gotta go pry what happened outta the others?”
“Over my dead body Bird Brain.”
“Others it is.” He said without missing a beat. “I'm sure I can get one of them spill.”
“I seriously hate you.” He muttered, taking one more look in your direction. You looked back, catching his gaze. Your smile was warm and over in an instant.
Just maybe, he thought
Not everything had to go back to normal.

Why RFI's are so important for sub-contractors.
Requests for Information (RFIs) are an essential part of any construction project, and sub-contractors play a crucial role in ensuring that the process runs smoothly. RFIs are used to clarify and document information related to the construction project, and they are an essential tool for sub-contractors to communicate with the general contractor (GC) and other members of the project team.
Tumblr media
Sub-contractors are responsible for completing specific tasks within the larger construction project. They are often hired by the GC to provide specialized services, such as electrical, plumbing, or HVAC work. As a result, sub-contractors need to have a clear understanding of the project requirements and specifications to ensure that their work meets the expectations of the GC and other project stakeholders.
RFIs allow sub-contractors to ask questions and clarify information related to the project. For example, a sub-contractor might need to confirm the location of electrical outlets or determine the type of materials that should be used for a specific part of the project. By submitting an RFI, the sub-contractor can ensure that they have the information they need to complete their work accurately and efficiently.
In addition to clarifying project details, RFIs also help sub-contractors avoid costly mistakes. Misunderstandings or miscommunications about project requirements can lead to errors and rework, which can be expensive and time-consuming. By submitting an RFI, sub-contractors can ensure that they have a clear understanding of the project requirements, reducing the risk of errors and delays.
RFIs also provide a written record of project communication. This documentation is essential in case of disputes or claims related to the project. By submitting an RFI, sub-contractors can ensure that their questions and concerns are documented, reducing the risk of misunderstandings or disputes later in the project.
Different types of RFIs.
RFIs can be categorized into different types, each with a specific purpose. In this article, we will discuss the different types of RFIs.
Design RFIs:  Design RFIs seek clarification or additional details about the project design, including plans, specifications, and drawings. Design RFIs are used to ensure that all project stakeholders have the information they need to complete their work accurately and efficiently. These types of RFIs are typically issued during the design phase of the project.
Technical RFIs: Technical RFIs are used to clarify technical issues related to the construction process, including materials, equipment, or installation procedures. Technical RFIs are typically issued during the construction phase of the project and are used to ensure that all project stakeholders have a clear understanding of the technical aspects of the project.
Contractual RFIs: Contractual RFIs seek clarification or additional details about the contractual requirements of the project, including timelines, payment schedules, and scope of work. Contractual RFIs are used to ensure that all project stakeholders have a clear understanding of their contractual obligations and responsibilities.
Administrative RFIs: Administrative RFIs seek clarification or additional details about administrative issues related to the project, including permits, approvals, or regulatory compliance. Administrative RFIs are used to ensure that all project stakeholders have a clear understanding of the administrative aspects of the project.
Safety RFIs: Safety RFIs seek clarification or additional details about safety issues related to the project, including safety procedures, training requirements, and safety equipment. Safety RFIs are used to ensure that all project stakeholders have a clear understanding of the safety requirements of the project and to ensure that the project is completed safely.
RFIs can be categorized into different types, each with a specific purpose. Understanding the different types of RFIs can help project teams create effective RFIs that address the specific information or clarification needed. By using the appropriate type of RFI, project teams can reduce the risk of errors and disputes, ensure that the project is completed successfully, and maintain a safe work environment.
Challenges of creating and tracking an RFI in construction.
Creating and tracking RFIs can be challenging, and failure to manage them effectively can lead to delays, cost overruns, and disputes. In this article, we will discuss some of the challenges of creating and tracking RFIs in construction.
Incomplete or Inaccurate Information: One of the most significant challenges of creating an RFI is ensuring that it includes complete and accurate information. Failure to provide sufficient detail or clarity can result in misunderstandings or delays in the construction process. Additionally, incomplete or inaccurate information can lead to errors in the project, causing cost overruns and disputes.
Delays in RFI Response: Delays in RFI response can be a significant challenge in construction projects. Delays in responses to RFIs can cause a ripple effect on the construction schedule, leading to project delays and cost overruns. This can occur due to a lack of communication or mismanagement of the RFI process, leading to missed deadlines and extended timelines.
Tracking and Managing: RFIs Tracking and managing RFIs can be a significant challenge in construction projects. RFIs can be numerous and complex, making it difficult to keep track of them and ensure that they are being addressed promptly. This can lead to confusion and missed deadlines, causing the project to fall behind schedule.
Miscommunication and Misunderstandings: Miscommunication and misunderstandings can be a significant challenge in creating and tracking RFIs. Misunderstandings can occur due to the use of technical jargon or ambiguous language, leading to misinterpretation and delays in the construction process. Miscommunication can also occur due to a lack of effective communication channels, resulting in missed messages or incomplete information.
Disputes and Claims: Disputes and claims can arise from the RFI process. Disputes can arise due to misunderstandings, delays, or miscommunication, leading to disagreements and disputes between project stakeholders. Additionally, claims can be made for delays or additional costs incurred due to the RFI process, leading to financial implications for the project.
Creating and tracking RFIs in construction can be challenging. The challenges of incomplete or inaccurate information, delays in RFI response, tracking, and managing RFIs, miscommunication and misunderstandings, and disputes and claims can have significant implications for the construction project. However, by implementing effective processes and procedures for creating and tracking RFIs, project teams can manage these challenges and ensure that the project is completed successfully.Top of FormBottom of Form
Important guidelines to create and process an RFI during construction.
Creating and processing RFIs requires careful attention to detail and adherence to best practices. In this article, we will discuss important guidelines for creating and processing RFIs during construction.
Understand the Purpose of the RFI: Before creating an RFI, it is essential to understand its purpose. An RFI is a formal request for information that seeks clarification or additional details about the project requirements or specifications. RFIs are used to ensure that all project stakeholders have the information they need to complete their work accurately and efficiently. Understanding the purpose of the RFI will help ensure that the questions asked are relevant and useful.
Use Clear and Concise Language: When creating an RFI, it is essential to use clear and concise language. The RFI should be easy to understand and should not include unnecessary technical jargon. The use of clear and concise language will help ensure that the recipient can understand the question being asked and provide a timely response.
Provide Sufficient Detail: When creating an RFI, it is crucial to provide sufficient detail about the issue or question being raised. This includes providing details about the specific area of the project that is being addressed, providing a clear description of the issue or question, and including any relevant project documents or drawings.
Ensure Timely Submission: RFIs should be submitted on time to ensure that they are addressed promptly. Delays in submitting RFIs can result in delays in the construction process, leading to cost overruns and missed deadlines.
Track RFI Status: It is essential to track the status of RFIs to ensure that they are being addressed and resolved promptly. Tracking the status of RFIs can help identify potential delays or issues early, allowing project teams to address them before they become significant problems.
Address RFIs Promptly: When receiving an RFI, it is essential to address it promptly. Delays in responding to RFIs can result in delays in the construction process and can lead to cost overruns and missed deadlines. Project teams should prioritize addressing RFIs to ensure that the project progresses smoothly.
Document RFI Responses: It is essential to document the responses to RFIs to ensure that all project stakeholders have a clear understanding of the project requirements and specifications. Documenting the responses to RFIs can also help avoid misunderstandings or disputes later in the project.
Creating and processing RFIs is a critical part of the construction process. By following these guidelines, project teams can ensure that RFIs are effective in clarifying project requirements and specifications, reducing the risk of errors and disputes, and ensuring that the project is completed successfully.
In summary,
RFIs are essential for sub-contractors to ensure that they have a clear understanding of the project requirements and specifications. They allow sub-contractors to ask questions, clarify information, avoid costly mistakes, and provide a written record of project communication. By utilizing RFIs effectively, sub-contractors can improve project outcomes, reduce the risk of errors and disputes, and ultimately provide high-quality services to the GC and other project stakeholders.

wish I could have like one positive ER experience in my life. literally every time i've ended up in the ER there is zero communication between the doctors for some reason on topics as important as surgery and they act personally offended that patients even arrive. also there are always more patients than they're prepared for so you're there for like 7 hours and sometimes just sitting in the hall on a stretcher waiting for a room which ofc has everyone staring at you. fuck OFF
