Sims2Tools Thumbnail Transparency

I've finally found out how to decode the alpha channel Maxis embeds into their JPEG thumbnails.

The following apps will now display thumbnails on a transparent background

Object Relocator

Outfit Organiser

Repository Wizard

(The background colour can be configured via the "ThumbnailBackground" property.)

Additionally, for Object Relocator and Outfit Organiser, when replacing a thumbnail with a .png image, the alpha channel will be correctly encoded.

Repo Wizard Clothes - How to Tell What is What

The Repository Wizard makes it super easy to create batches of clothes on another mesh but that means you also have to do batch naming. So how can you tell which files are repo'd to which originals?

Open an original in SimPE and click on the Binary Index. The second to last line is sortindex, that number will be the same in any clothes that the Repo Wizard made for this master file. Just open your add-ons in SimPE and check the sortindex until you find the matching number and then you can change the filename to show which original it's repo'd to

“ Take him away. Leave no evidence.”

* Four figure walk from the portal and attempt to grave bit*

“ You really have changed Rapture, back in the day you wouldn’t have left this job to your underlings.”

* A body flies by Raptures head back through the portal,*

“ what-“

* Another body flies unconscious through the portal as the other two charge.*

“ you…”

*he looks at my feet*

“Are softer than I thought, that fool is protecting a flower”

*They change tactics as they try to push Bit back into the flower. He fights his hardest to not step back.*

*another body flies back*

“Hm, fine I’ll do it myself”

*Rapture pulls out two blades and charges*

“Oh you think you can beat me in combat?”

*bit takes another step back to parry his blade and looks down.*

*the flower is squashed under foot*

“To slow.”

*a blade punctures Bit’s stomach as oil begins to spill down, a buzzing. Bees pour from the wound*

Repository Update!

I'm proud to announce that our Dark Wizard image gallery now hosts over 10,000 pictures! Of those, nearly 1,500 are of Victor Rookwood and over 5,000 feature Ashwinders, Poachers, and Infamous Foes.

The Rookwood Gang Repository also hosts fanart by @horizontaldancer0, @theepicmirroregg, and @azrielya as well as various artists I've commissioned over the past year and a half.

Anyone is welcome to contribute their own pictures or art to the Repository! To do so, create an account and upload your images under "Community." Getting an account will also allow you to view uncensored 18+ and AI images as well as save favorites.

Didn't expect to do this, but. Excerpt from a longer piece I'm working on from my Curse of Strahd campaign, because I was reading over it while trying to find something to work on in the midst of all of this awful shit and got slapped with some very on the nose feelings. Call it my WIP Wednesday, lol.

“But honestly, who is going to blame me for indulging in a little bit of absurdity right now? This whole situation is mad.” “Is it?” Now Ireena turns to face her, brows furrowed in genuine confusion. “How so?” This, from Ireena, is a real question, and not a sarcastic quip at Wyn's expense, so she takes a breath to quell the sudden scorch of fire in her chest and turns her attention back to her sketch.  “Where would you have me start?” she asks, very lightly. “The night that we spent safe among a full caravan of people on a well-traveled trade road, only to wake up in the middle of unfamiliar woods, alone, with necromantic mists chasing our every step? The haunted manor house so full to the brim with moral transgressions that it tried to eat us one floor at a time, and very nearly succeeded? Or perhaps the fact that less than two hours ago, we were sat down at the table of a woman who claims to see the future and told that, despite our inexperience and our incompetence and the fact that we have not so much as a whit of real skill between us, we are apparently meant to be this land’s saviors?” In truth, savior hadn’t been the word that Madam Eva had used. She had been more delicate, less certain; she had used words like ‘might,’ like ‘maybe.’ But she had still held out beseeching hands across her card-strewn table and told them that they carried hope on their shoulders, that she looked to them for the cure to the curse on Barovia’s stricken land. She had still said that they were what she had been waiting for.  The whole thing had been so absurd that Wyn still feels a little glow of pride when she remembers that she hadn’t laughed. Beside her, Ireena nods, slowly.  “I see,” she says, and she probably does, but Wyn can tell by her expression that she also thinks that Wyn is overreacting. The thought is nearly enough to spin up the grease fire burning in her gut again, almost enough to bait the howling animal — but then Wyn takes another breath, and sighs, and shrugs. “I expect that you’re the only one who does,” she says, smiling like there isn't a part of her that wants to start screaming instead. “But, as near as I can tell, I have two options: I can either wallow in the knowledge that this is our death sentence, and spend a very productive evening being a font of wretched despair and grim portent, or —” She makes a flourishing gesture down to the sketch in her lap. “— I can paint a beard onto the wizard. Considering that I expect to spend no small amount of time on the former, I’ve decided to indulge the latter while I have the energy.”

New Beginnings

I am so very lost.

Granted, this isn't anything new for me, quite the opposite.

But here... oh something here is tantalizing. The energies here, the magic, it draws to me. It remembers me.

I've been trying to listen to chatter on the wind for a few days now... they call this place Wizard Island. Quaint. I like it. I'll stick around to get my bearings in this place.

I'm honestly quite surprised this place has this kind of technomancy. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised given the name. I'm a little glad to have this kind of communication back, to be quite honest. Maybe I can try and find some old acquaintances while I have the power- but I'm getting a little ahead of myself, clearly.

And, if this is my way of going public about things now that I have my hands on the capability to, I'm gonna take a day or so to set up shop here. Wizards like flowers, right? Surely they won't mind a flower wizard.

ao3 skins faq

Just a few answers to questions I've seen in the notes on this poll

What is a site skin? A site skin is CSS code that changes the way AO3 looks. This could be anything from changing the page colour to the font to the way tags look to hiding parts of the site - and more.

Where do I find site skins? There are a few places. The easiest one is in the site footer (that red band at the bottom of the page). There are four skins linked there under the word Customize, and you can click on them to see what they do. Another place to find skins is https://archiveofourown.org/skins?skin_type=Site Those skins were created years ago and loaded into AO3 for easy applicaiton. Just hit the Use button and they'll be applied to your account. Lastly, you can find skins created by other AO3 users. Some people post their code on AO3 itself, some use github or other code repositories. A lot of folks share their skins here on tumblr with images and then a link to the code itself.

How do I save them to my account? If you're using the ones in the footer or the ones linked on the Public Skins page, you don't need to save them. Those are built into AO3. If you want to create your own (or use one created by another user), that's when you save them to your account. Tap on your name at the top of the Ao3 page. Then select Dashboard, then select Skins. Tap the button labelled Create Site Skin and give your skin a unique name. Write or paste the CSS code into the big box, then hit the Submit button to save it. If you want to use it right away, hit the Use button on the next page.

What's the difference between a Work Skin and a Site Skin? A work skin changes the appearance of an individual AO3 work, and it changes it for everyone who looks at that work. This lets you turn your fic into something that looks like an email or a text chain or a newspaper, etc etc without having to use images. Work skins can also be turned off by other users, so if they just want to read the plain text of your work they still can. A site skin changes how the entire site looks - but only for you.

How do you have 100+ site skins?? I start a lot of skins that I abandon partway through. I also create skins for certain specific purposes - for example, changing the look of all of the buttons on the site - and then I can just grab that chunk of code and add it to any "full" site skins I create for the purposes of sharing. I have a lot of experiments that fail, but I keep the code around because maybe I'll learn how to fix it someday.

Can I create my own site skin if I don't know how to code? You can! AO3 has a site skin Wizard that will help you change the colours, fonts, and font sizes on the site. Go to your Dashboard > Skins > Create Site Skin and then tap on Use Wizard. Give your skin a unique title. Click on the ? bubbles to get examples of how to enter information into each box. If there's anything you don't want to change, you can just leave that box empty. When you add in colours, they must be hex colour codes, and they must include the # at the start. Any font you add need to exist on your device (so it might work on your computer but not on your phone because your phone doesn't have that font installed). You can add parent skins to Wizard skins, too. See below!

I wish I could have [X functionality] in [Y aesthetic skin] You can! If you create one site skin in order to block certain works or tags, you can add that skin on top of an aesthetic skin. To do so, edit your aesthetic skin, scroll down and tap on the Advanced button (lower left of the CSS box), tap on Parent Skin, type in the name of your blocking skin and Add Parent Skin. Then save your aesthetic skin, and the two are combined! You can also do this with those skins that are native to AO3. So for example, you want a Reversi (dark mode) skin that Shortens Long Tags and also hides the "you have muted some users" banner. Create a site skin with the muted users code:

p.muted.notice { display: none; } And add Reversi and Shortening Long Tag Fields to it as parents. (you can also copy/paste all of the code into a single site skin, if you'd prefer)

i've previously converted the original version of these planters and more, but i wanted, well... more! so have @nolan-sims' wonderful strawberry planters v2 converted from ts4 to ts2 - six of my favourite-themed items for my favourite game 💞

the original set had just 3 items, but i threw in 3 additional sizes of the floor planter to make up for the fact that there's no resizing stuff in-game in ts2. everything has been repo'd to the floor planter to save space. readme included, of course. everything has subsets, everything is recolorable, so go wild!

Added Designable and Non-Designable tabs (advanced mode only)

Added SIX non-designable subset mappings, for those of you that really want to go to town reducing the number of TXMT/TXTR resources in a repositoried/slaved package!

Setting a non-designable subset to an empty value will delete that subset from the SHPE

Selected folder in the tree view retains highlight when selecting packages within the folder

Picking an unsupported version of SimPe in the Config Dialog now displays a link to this post

I'm having trouble with @picknmixsims Repository Wizard and hoping someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'm testing out repo'ing to a Maxis object. I go into the Wizard, press Select Master..., navigate to the Nightlife objects.package file, the list pops up and it lets me select the object I want

But when I press OK there's no Master listed and nothing in the drop down for me to repo to

I checked my configuration in the Wizard and SimPE and everything's pointing to the right locations

To upload your own images, first create an account. You will then need to wait for your permissions to be assigned.

Once you have the appropriate permissions, you can upload your images using the "Upload Photos" link that will appear on the bottom of the menu on the lefthand side.

Uploads will be manually approved, associated with the main albums, and tagged.

4T2 IKEA SOCKER GreenHouses repoed with remade recolors

I just saw @sims2packrat 's reupload of @dysfunctionalphysical 's 4t2 Ikea greenhouse conversion.

The green houses weren't repoed to each other and the recolors were absurdly big (1024x1024) for the meshs size.

So I repoed them with the repository wizard, V2 is repoed to V1 now. Afterwards I extracted the textures, shrunk them to half-size and remade the recolors. Now they are down from two 4,82 MB files to twelve single files of a combined size of 1,29MB.

I included jpeg-version of the texture files for easier chosing and compressed everything.

I recently became tangentally interested in 'Hamatora' style, which evolved out of high end fashion in Yokohama in the 80s. I made this as a recolour of one of my favourite average ladies dresses inspired by the style, though I'm not 100% if it's hit the mark, as it's a pretty difficult style to research. What I've ended up with is a set of skirt and shirt seperates which would fit fairly easily into both modern and vintage style games.

I've made 10 swatches in various Aelia colours and patterns, 6 with skirts and shirts and 4 with an added knit vest. The belt buckle is actually a modified 80s Chanel one, and I added nylons and shoes nicked from @goatskickin's recolours of this mesh. These are all categorised as everyday only.

About the mesh: it's orignally converted by @moyokeansimblr here for TF-EF, but for the AF age I've included @pforestsims edited AF mesh. The fixed AF mesh has a lot of fixed bones, so the TF and EF meshes can look quite wonky in comparison, especially with the oddly squished belts, but I've included the ages anyhow. You can have them standalone or repo to AF (made using the repository wizard). Meshes are included, and everything's fully compressorised.
