Breaking Dawn quick points Part 2

Bella is so much fun as a vampire, I can’t believe I’ve forgotten. I think even the movie critics liked Vampire Bella in the movie, if I recall correctly. Vampire Horny Bella is officially my favorite Bella

Renesmee. Verbally it’s okay, even nice, especially if you pronounce in the Spanish-Italian way instead of the lazy Anglo way (Renesme, dai!). On the written page it looks like the ship name for Renée/Esme on AO3. That said, I don’t quite know what could have been a better name that had the same mythic and romantic ring. Maybe Elizabeth? Too common, perhaps. I think it’s just that extra e that tips it into fanfic territory.

The Loch Ness monster scene was priceless. Personally, I would have preferred Nessa as a nickname, but whatevs. Even the movie pulled that off well, I remember

Charlie. I do like the idea of him knowing, but I can’t believe Meyer had him on the loop so early and so cavalierly. Jacob just one day up and…just phasing in front of him. I had a feeling she had planned for that important bit at the end but knew she had to include it early to make room for that Volturi plot. Either way, it should have been much later when Bella was not so new. (That said, Charlie’s reaction is so on point. Homeboy was like “You know what? I don’t want to know. How’s the game?”)

I remember feeling a bit cheated that Bella had so much self-control as a newborn. That said, it does make some sense given Bella’s human affinity for vampirism and her internalized character. I have a feeling Meyer had tons of outline to burn through and so was rushing the development a bit. At the very least she should have kept Bella’s tests at a bare minimum.

Jacob’s imprinting. I’m not against the whole Jacob/Renesmee ship—on the contrary, I like it, and it is a necessary resolution to the love triangle. Also, it’s a common trope of romance to set up the secondary pairing just as the first pairing is fully consummated. But the execution was…not great. Meyer should have left it for an Epilogue when Renesmee was older. She could have kept Jacob away from Renesmee, possibly leave La Push after Bella’s vampiric turn, and then return to meet a grown Renesmee for the first time. On the other hand, the imprinting schema itself kills romance—it’s basically a meta cheat, an authorial slight-of-hand (Here are the present and/or future couples of this universe that I’m too lazy to write btw—enjoy!). If Meyer is going to write a Jacob/Renesmee book as I’ve heard, she will need to find some way to separate the two and build a new romantic paradigm. Renesmee will need to experience adolescence at least, develop her own character, and the platonic bond will need to be destabilized and eased into a romantic one.

That said, I do dislike it far less than I did when I read it. It does allow for some really interesting narrative possibilities. I would be interested in a Jacob/Renesmee follow-up—given Renesmee’s unique abilities and background, the possibilities for all kinds of conflict are there. You have her half-vampire half-human abilities, belonging to neither world; Nahuel being the only one of her kind (a special bond?); her affinity for Jacob…perhaps her growing needs away from her close-knit family. I know the fandom is supremely toxic towards Meyer, but honestly she is the best author when it comes to deep first person POV.

The movie fucked up with the CGI doll. Book Renesmee is the right mix of adorable, unique, and creepy, like a vampire baby should.

“‘The Volturi aren’t supposed to be the villains, the way they seem to you. They are the foundations of our peace and civilization. Each member of the guard chooses to serve them.’” Meyer made this subtext once again explicit. It rings a little hollow, though. Since Eclipse the Volturi were villain coded, a dark mirror of the Cullens, instead of the lawful neutral force they are meant to represent. By all accounts they should be eager for an excuse to spare the Cullens, if just on the hope that they could persuade them to join the guard. On the other hand, this is very much Bella’s perspective, colored by her human experience.

Garrett/Kate FTW. Actually Carlisle’s friends are all fascinating. This has always been a favorite part for me. I just wish most of it was not general summary; Meyer had a lot of ground to cover, clearly.

“(Y/N) I understand you’re holding a grief towards Edward and Bella but do it for Renesme. She’s just a child.” A blonde haired male waited patiently for a response and soon he got one.

“You’re a fool Carlisle.” With that older vampire lowered his head knowing the discussion was over, so he got up from the red sofa and walked out of the dark wooden door closing it behind hearing a click.

Rest of the family that decided to come along stood near the black car waiting for an answer.

“How did it go?” Bella asked curiously.

.

.

She didn’t know what happened in the past between an unfamiliar vampire and her now husband was her fault.

.

“We shouldn’t have come here I told you it will be pointless.” Edward spoke up as his hold on his wife tightened, making the brunett turn her head to look at him questionably.

(Y/N) thoughts were loud, he could tell his past lover didn’t want any of cullens on his terytorry in case volturi would chase after him too and definitely didn’t want to get involved with vampire-human child that was his daughter no matter if she was a threat or not it did not involved him now, they weren’t a part of his life anymore.

Even if (Y/N) did not wish them death they were not his problem. All of them lied straight to his face breaking his dead heart even more keeping the future away from him- future he wasnt in.

Turning away from the window (Y/N)s hand went up to his cheek wiping the wet annoying feeling that ghosted his cold skin- even as a vampire he got a gift- well for him it was a curse, feeling way more than he could handle and express too many emotions at once after deconcentrating.

He was happy- they were happy- but she took it away.

.

.

No matter how much they will need him he won’t show up and save the day.

(Y/N) sat on the kitchen counter with a glass of water in hand after he moved far away from the window- sure he was a vampire, his heart wasn’t beating or lungs didn’t need air- he was immortal- but nothing really changed between him and normal human being, he was as weak as one, still got emotions, needed to eat from time to time and not only blood, no vampire got eyes that looked like his.

He knew Cullens needed as much of their kind to support them but they hurt him and if a fight broke out he surely was going to die, no matter if he tried to run, they would kill him sooner or later.

Of course even now he wont be safe, they came to him and nothing will hide from Aro sight.

All of the Cullens came back home about two hours ago and everyone returned to their things to somehow keep the normality but there was something that still bothered Bella.

The newborn vampire couldn’t stop walking around in his husband’s old room thinking what exactly happened earlier.

.

.

Even if they asked for help from others that didn’t know Renesme and knew the danger of the situation, they agreed to be on their side- why wouldn’t that one help them?

.

“how did it went?”

Bella wasn’t expecting Jacob to show up and stop her thoughts.

.

.

“By the look on your face I don’t think it went well..” wolf shifter leaned against the door frame waiting for the answer.

“It didn’t, I just don’t know what happened. Others agreed to help but this one didn’t even want to communicate with us, he barely let Carlisle inside to talk.” brunette sat on the bed with her hands intertwined together.

“Maybe I could help?”

“How? You’re a wolf Jake, you know how we react-”

“I know, you hate the smell and all but we can always try.” it wasn’t hard to see he still got a thing for her and will do anything for his imprint.

Jacob debated if he should shift or not but in the end decided it was better for him to take his bike and was ready for a trip.

Seth wanted to go too but the older boy didn’t agree, not knowing if it was safe for him to tag along.

Upon seeing a small reddish house wolf shifter slowed down and stopped on the driveway then got off the bike, cautiously making his way to the front door.

His knock wasn’t the loudest but for sure hireable, so after a while Jake decided to go around and look for the vampire through the windows.

He didn’t find anything, that worried him a bit.

.

A wolf in Jacob picked up upon hearing the tires break, then he heard a low whine.

“Seth-”

At that moment nothing else matter. After shifting, he ran as fast as he could to where he heard the noise coming fron.

Thank fully it wasn’t that far away from where he stood earlier. On the spot, he noticed a bright colored old car and a tail of a wolf on the side. Coming closer to it, dark smoke was seen that started going off in the hood of the car.

The person that sat inside of the vehicle didn’t move- it was clear as day the accident scared him half to death.

.

.

Walking at the front of the car Jacob checked if Seth was ok and fortunately, he was- after shifting back he will get an ear full for what happened, he was sure of it.

Feeling a pair of eyes on him, Jacob looked up and was met with a pair of (E/C) orbs but small parts of them were golden watching his movement which made him freeze.

.

.

Neither of them noticed the fire starting but when they did man sitting behind the wheel grabbed the handle to open the door but it wouldn’t move.

.

.

That’s when the panic set in.

Fire started slow but it quickly gained strength spreading more on the passenger side.

.

.

Seth looked panicked as his eyes moved between Jacob and the person trapped in the car. That’s when the bigger wolf did something smaller one didn’t expect, he shifted back in his human form and tore the driver’s side door open pulling the male out of there into his arms.

Feeling warm skin under his fingertips (Y/N) opened his eyes looking up seeing a man that wasn’t there before. Using his hands, shorter male tried to get out of the embrace pushing onto the toned chest.

Jacob let him go but not completely- he didn’t want to let go. He then remember Seth is here too however he wast the only one who did.

Now it hits (Y/N). There were two of the wolves.

“shifters-”

Even if it was said in a hushed whisper both of the man heard it clearly.

Pushing away (H/C) locks bounced in the air as the vampire moved backwards shaking his head.

Before black haired male could say anything his eyes widened noticing how the sun fell onto the other making it sparkle but not as much as Cullens or any other vampire he meet did.

A vampire.

How did he not notice earlier?

His skin was surely colder, his cheeks were slightly flushed and his eyes were golden- (E/C)? Light tears showed in the corners…

How was that possible…?

Turning around, Jacob shifted back and ran forward followed by Seth that got too many questions and each of them loudly echoed in the older one’s head.

Just like that (Y/N) stoon on the side of the road alone full of questions.

Walking back home (Y/N) didn’t know what to think about the situation he was in.

First Cullens, the family that first lied to him and then wanted his help…

Then he met two shifters- one made his car set on fire and the other saved his life….

.

The warmth in his chest was distracting enough to make his emotions take control of his facial expression, leaving it half smiling and half scared- for sure looking like a psychopath or a killer that lives in the woods.

Meanwhile, Jacob stopped running, lost in the middle of the unfamiliar woods- he just saved a scared vampire and wasn’t guilty about it nor disgusted by his cold touch on his body, the eyes he looked at weren’t bloody red or that annoying golden yellow like Bellas.

He didn’t know what was going on with him.

.

.

That was when Seth found him, the smaller wolf broke him out of the trance by saying it was quite late and they needed to come back somehow before it gets too dark.

Brown fur of the wolf caught the attention of Bella that sat on the light up weranda steps as Edward stood next to her, a mind reading vampire read Jacob’s thoughts knowing he had conflict in his mind. Placing a hand on his wife shoulder she looked at him, knowing something must happen.

“There was an accident and they weren’t able to talk.”

.

.

“What do you mean there was an accident? Tell me what you know.”

.

.

At that second Alice showed up, probably already seeing what would happen in the future after Jacob drove away on his bike to find the old member of their family.

“Jacob found what he was looking for but it wasn’t in good circumstances.”

.

.

After that pixie haired girl hopped down the stairs with a smile to have both wolves clothes to change into.

It didn’t take them long to get dressed and walk inside the house heading to the living room where everyone was waiting to hear the news.

“How did it go? ”

.

.

“It didn’t. Seth nearly got hit by a car just because he didnt listen when I told him to stay. Then it caught on fire and the person inside of it was trapped. I needed to step in.” It wasn’t hard to see that the younger boy was conflicted with himself so they decided to give him some time to calm down.

When sun rose up and cold wind with darkness disappear from the nearly quiet forest, if it wasn’t for all the animals that lived inside it, was replaced by a wave of light and warmth signaling the start of the new day, Jacob went for a run to get back his bike and maybe meet the unusual vampire to talk just like Cullens wanted- well only if he didn’t run away already.

The journey was way longer than he thought but it wasn’t like he minded running a couple of kilometers more in the green forest.

Before he saw the red house his nose picked up a smell of fresh cooked food- meat- but nobody lives here except for the (E/C) eyed vampire he met yesterday…

That boy was really strange. What didn’t help was that neither of the Cullens shared any information about (Y/N)- well only his name.

.

.

Wolfshifter was curious, the first instinct of (Y/N) after he pulled him out of the burning car wasn’t to attack, hurt or kill the taller male but to be afraid of him, wanting to get as far away from him as possible, not feeling safe enough to stay there.

.

.

Noticing a figure in the window Jacob stopped to observe what (Y/N) is doing and it seemed that he was so focused on the task that he didn’t notice the other boy looking right back at him letting go of the spoon he was holding.

.

.

The metal meeting floor tiles brought him back but he couldn’t move from his spot, neither could (Y/N).

.

.

Comming to his senses and walking back (H/C) haired male disappeared into the next room, not long after the front door opened making Jacob speechless.

“Let’s walk inside… And talk”

.

.

The boy was quite far away but Jacob clearly heard what the other said.

Before he could register what he’s doing he walked inside the warm house after the vampire. Surprisingly the door didn’t get locked, that made Jacob feel at ease knowing he could walk out normally and not contrive how to escape if he absolutely needed to.

“Before you say why are you here I would like to thank you for saving me… If it wasn’t for you I-”

.

“Don’t mention it- it was partly my friend’s fault your car caught on fire in the first place..”

.

.

The awkward atmosphere formed creating tension in between them. Neither of them knew what to do next even if they had so many questions in their minds.

“You smell like Cullens, what’s your deal with them?” the (H/C) haired male said with a rosed brow.

.

.

“I’m helping them.”

.

.

“Why? You, despite each other, never cross the line in therytory even while hunting your common enemies… So why now?”

.

.

“The girl I imprinted on was a human but.. she chose and married a vampire I hate to the bones then she got pregnant with a child that was slowly killing her and now Volturi are involved.”

This sparked an interest in the vampire.

“imprinted… What does that mean..?”

.

.

“It’s like a soulmate, means you will do anything for that person, be whatever that person wants you to be a friend, family, lover..” At the end of the sentence Jacob’s voice got quieter as his head hung low remembering how devastated he was.

“why would she choose a vampire over somebody that is like her… ”

.

“She’s his blood singer- and she’s important to them and they have a daughter-”

.

.

“She may be important for them but not for me.”

.

.

“why can’t you just help them? They need you-”

.

Sudently (Y/N) came closer to the werewolf making the taller boy move backwards till he hit a fireplace and made him shut up.

.

“I guess they didn’t tell you what happened. Either way, me being there won’t change anything. I’m as weak as a human, in a battle, I’ll fall first if they come after me- which they surely will. Most importantly, that imprint of yours took away something from me that I’ve been part of for hundred and eight years. She came and destroyed it in just a couple of days… They lied straight to my face when they had her in the house. I was rarely there because I couldn’t stand the cold in that house. Even if I’m not a vampire like everyone else I could smell her, even in his car that he picked me up a couple of times. One day I had enough and left everything behind, every new lie they were prepared to tell me, every word that they told to distract me, every time they kept me away from their house on purpose… I’m not wishing them bad but I won’t help them either”

Letting out a long sight Jacob turned in the direction of the door.

“I understand. But please think about it…”

.

Wolfshifter opened the door then closed it behind himself, all (Y/N) could hear after was the sound of the bike engine as it moved further away from his house.

Bella started worrying when Jacob didn’t came back to Cullens house and it started to become really late, of course she knew he will be ok being a wolfshifter but something deep down wouldn’t let her calm down, Edward noticed it and got worried but before he could walk up to her Renesmee scream was heard what made all the Cullens rush from various rooms in the house to where the sound came from.

They search but the little girl was nowhere to be found Bella’s eyes grew wide as did her husband.

“I-I can’t see anything.. ” shallow whisper of Alice added to the tension everyone felt forming.

Deciding to split in every direction they began to look everywhere, surely she couldnt be too far away from the house…. Right?

Little girl got dragged by the material of her greenish dress seeing too many trees to count, all of them passing in a blur before her eyes that shut down quickly after she noticed the big crack in the ground and below them the river flowed as a mysterious creature jumped.

Gush of cold wind hit her pale cheeks making them rosy pink. Tears in her eyes dared to slip from how scared she was. One second she’s standing in front of the weranda steps, the other something drags her away into the dark forest away from her family.

.

.

Feeling dirt under her legs like she had just been put down, she curled up in a ball till she couldn’t feel anything standing behind her. Opening of the door made her look startled, her brown locks bouncing.

.

.

With furrowed brows (Y/N) looked at the girl in front of him before grabbing a small blanket he kept at the bottom drawer in the hallway and got out shivering as the cold air hit his body.

.

Spreading the fluffy blanket (H/C) haired boy wrapped it around her smaller figure, she still was wary of the man in front of her but once she saw his eyes she calmed down. Only after making sure she wasn’t too cold anymore (E/C) orbs meet the brown ones noticing the dreamy/ curious expression on her face, he shook his head then got up pulling the girl up placing her on his hip.

In the warmth of the house, Renesmee spoke up. “You’re different” this made (Y/N) tens up but didn’t stop walking.

Placing both of her small hands on older vampire’s cheeks she looked all over his face. “I like it.” she added, smiling brightly.

.

Deciding to ignore the things she said he asked his own questions.

“What were you doing in the middle of the woods at this hour?”

.

.

“I don’t know, something dragged me here. I was too scared to see what it was till you showed up.” placing her on the cough he noticed how her eyes never left his taller frame and her fingers fidget with each other. “you’re a strange little fella, not a human, not a full vampire either.” getting down to her level (Y/N) signalised her to do what she wanted. As she touched his cheek all the things she got through were shown to the crouching vampire that now knew who she was but didn’t pull away letting her finish the visions..

“My name is Renesmee”

“Even stranger names you have…. I’m (Y/N).”

.

.

After that Ness talked about her family and what she liked to do (Y/N) let her, he didn’t mind having a little girl in his house that talked his ears off.

Noticing her sleepy state, stronger arms pulled her up and took her to the other room then laid her down onto soft matters of his bed, covered her with a (F/C) bed sheets, then grabbed a spare pillow and some covers going to the living room and placing it neatly on the red sofa.

.

.

Going to the bathroom (Y/N) changed into pj and brushed his teeth, soon after he moved back on the sofa and fell asleep.

.

.

Three hours later (E/C) eyes felt open, looking down he saw Renesmee cuddled up to his body, letting out a soft breath (Y/N) covering her sleeping body going back to sleep.

Meanwhile Cullens don’t know what to do. They searched every inch of the forest but they couldn’t find Renesmee nor smell her. Bella was even more on the edge than her husband who still tried to think rationally.

“We haven’t found any blood so she shouldn’t be injured” Jasper spoke as he was seen back.

.

.

“I don’t care about the blood, I want my baby to be here.”

.

.

“Don’t worry Bella, we will find her.” Carlise spoke softly not to anger the mother any further.

In the other part of the forest (Y/N) had just woken up as well as the girl, he made her breakfast then gave spare toothbrush to let her clean her teeth and brushed her hair knowing later it will be pain in the ass to comb if she already got so many knots in them.

Hearing a knock on the door both of them turned to the hallway. Taller vampire on high alert knowing he now had the hybrid child in his territorium and if something smelled her he couldnt be able to protect her if it came to fight with more than one vampire.

With a nood from her (Y/N) stood up and went to see who it was before he could actually see it he smelt a strong scent of a wet dog.

Opening them widely he was met with Jacob soaked to the bone from the heavy rain that neither of the two in the house noticed. “you scared me half to death… get inside.” walking in and closing the door, a shorter male ran up to the bathroom for some towels and one of his pj completes since it was the only oversized things he got and placed them on the counter then came back with red towel in hand dropping it on Jacobs head then giving him one more to dry his body. “dry yourself then go change in the bathroom.”

Nodding wolf shifter did as he was told and disappeared behind the bathroom door.

“It’s ok, you can came here now” just like that Ness came out of the kitchen and hugged (Y/N)s leg

“What is she doing here?”

“I don’t know, she showed up last night.” (Y/N) turned to look at the other male, quickly looking away once he felt his expression change. “please wear a shirt and gave me your clothes, I’ll hang them to dry.”

A second later everything went dark, the electricity shut down. Thunder was just starting.

Renesmee fastly came up in between the two, scared. “It’s ok, just a power outage. It should come back soon… hope it comes back soon. ”

Sitting on a sofa covered in multiple quilts and blankets Jacob moved (Y/N) closer to his chest and vampire didn’t resist instead cuddled closer with the girl that sat on his lap not wanting to let her freeze and get warmer too. Shifter didn’t complain, liking the closeness. Remembering how Bella did the same in the mountains when she was still a human.. He didn’t know he’d ever meet such a vampire that even when changed were so human-like.

AM I DOING ANOTHER JASPER POST RIGHT AFTER MAKING THE OTHER? UH YES- THIS MAN IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS

A = Admiration (what do they absolutely adore about you?)

He would love your energy, he loves how happy you feel when you're around him, that's what draws you to him in the first place. He also adores just how goofy you are, your energy is just addicting to him.

B = Body (what is their favorite part of your body?)

He loves your eyes. Whether you're a vampire or not, it really doesn't matter. I mean they are the windows to your soul, aren't they? The way that you look at him with admiration and love makes him so happy. Don't even mention how your eyes glimmer in the sun!

C = Cuddling (how do they like to cuddle?)

He loves spooning- man was touch starved when you met him. He'll purposely get you to lay down just to be able to wrap his arms around you. He's definitely a big spoon, no doubt about that.

D = Dates (what does their ideal date with you look like?)

I feel like he would enjoy spending time with you outside, if you're athletic you would go on hikes in the forest, you'd have your own special spot in the woods.

If you're less athletic (or just don't like hiking cause I don't blame you man), he'd take you on drives through the woods, or star gazing, activities like that.

E = Emotions (how do they express emotion around you?)

He loves being able to express his feelings to you, he'll randomly come up behind you and whisper into your ear how much he loves you

F = Family (do they want one? If they do, when?)

At one point in his human life, he did want to start a family, however, now he doesn't need anyone else. I mean he has Carlise, Esme, Alice, Emmet, Rosalie, Edward, Bella, Renesme, and you, who else could he need?

G = Gifts (how do they feel about gift giving? What are their habits when it comes to this?)

I feel like one of his love languages is gift-giving, so he'd give you gifts all the time, it doesn't matter how expensive they are (he has vampire money baby). Although most of his gifts are probably jewelry, like necklaces or earrings.

H = Holding Hands (when/how do they like to hold hands?)

He loves randomly grabbing your hands, at first (if your human) he would try avoiding physical contact with you at all times, but now he's grown accustomed to your blood, he constantly has his hands on you in one way or another.

I = Injury (how would they act if you got hurt?)

He would immediately be angry if someone hurt you, he'd want to hurt them. After his initial anger, he would rush to your side even if you are bleeding he doesn't care he'll resist his inhuman urges for you.

J = Jokes (do they like to joke around with or prank you? how?)

He would more than likely be on the receiving end of your and Emmets pranks. Most of his jokes with you are just light teasing, nothing rude of course.

K = Kisses (how do they like to kiss you?)

He loves to kiss you, it doesn't matter how. He loves the feeling of your lips against his, even if it is just for a moment.

L = Love (how do they show you they love you?)

His favorite way to show his love for you is to tell you. He doesn't go for a complicated over-the-top gesture (all the time), he feels as though a simple "I love you" is enough to convey his feelings.

M = Memory (favorite memory together?)

If you're a human, one of his favorite memories of you is when he first told you he's a vampire. It isn't anything over the top or dramatic (like Edward) he just sits you down and tells you straight out. He expected you to run away, or scream, or somehow react badly, but all you did was hug him.

If you're a vampire, one of his favorite memories of you is when he said "I love you" for the first time. You were just lounging on the Cullens couch, with your head on his chest. He had turned to look at you, you looked so content that the words just slipped out. Had you not been a vampire, he thought you wouldn't have been able to hear him say it, but you had. Without missing a beat, you immediately replied "I love you too."

N = Nightmare (what is their worst fear?)

If you're human, him hurting you would be a big fear. Overall one of his biggest fears is you leaving him. I mean you were his life now, one of his main reasons for existing and if you just up and left- it would break him

O = Oddity (what is one quirk they have?)

Sometimes he'll forget to move- like he'll be looking at you speaking, he'll be watching your lips move but at this point, he's just zoned out staring at you.

P = Pet Names (what do they like to call you?)

He loves calling you darlin', your reaction the first time he called you that was enough to make him decide for the rest of eternity that's what he's going to call you. Another nickname he'll occasionally is sweetheart, I mean the man is from Texas what did you expect

Q = Quality Time (how do they like to spend time with you?)

He loves watching you read, or reading to you. A few times he's actually read to you as you fell asleep. Or he'll enjoy absolute kicking your ass at chess- (which will result in never-ending teasing on his end)

R = Rhythm (what song reminds you of them?)

'I See The Light' from Tangled, I mean he truly believes that you brought the light back into his life, you helped him see life the way that it really is.

S = Secrets (how open are they with you?)

At first, he was very closed off about his past, he didn't want to tell you of the horrors he had seen, the horrible things he had done. But when he told of you of his past with Maria and you were still there, still more than willing to love him, he opened up more.

He feels as though there is no reason to hide anything from you because to him, there is nothing worse than his past deads.

T = Time (how long did it take you to get together?)

It took him around six months after becoming your friend to even have the courage to ask you out and at that point, you had known each other for almost a year.

U = Upset (how do they act when you’re upset?)

He promised himself very early on he'd never influence your emotions (unless you asked him to), so he'd sense you were upset and immediately ask what was wrong. If you wanted to talk about what had happened he would listen for however long you needed to rant.

Or if you didn't feel like talking he'd pull you into his arms on the couch or on your/his bed, he'd turn on your favorite tv show or whatever music you liked and just whisper sweet nothing in your ear.

V = Vaunt (what are they proud of? Do they like to show you off?)

He's not the show-offy type, he's a very possessive person though so whenever you walk into a room together he makes sure that everyone know's that you're in a relationship.

W = Warrior (how do they feel about you fighting? Would they fight for you, beside you, etc?)

He would lose his shit if you got hurt, so you and fighting is something generally avoided. Even if you are a vampire, he would stay near you, fighting by your side the entire time

X = X-Ray (how well are they able to read you?)

Due to his gift, reading you is very easy. Even without his gift, he thinks he'd be able to read you easily.

Y = Yes (how would they propose to you?)

He'd wait a few years into your relationship before he thinks about proposing, and when he does it'd been when the two of you are alone. He wouldn't want you to feel pressured to say yes, so he'd propose while you're stargazing together, or while your somewhere you won't be distributed.

He'd want the moment to feel special so he'd ask Alice (who had already seen him propose) to help him plan the night and to help him decide on a ring if he, himself couldn't choose.

Z = Zen (what makes them feel calm?)

Just having you around is enough to make him feel calm, but if he's having an especially rough day he likes it when you read to him, or when you rub his shoulders.

He loves how wild it is, and  how untameable it is. He also loves how short you are. You’re taller than Alice, but only by about 5 inches, so there is still a good height distance between the two of you. C = Cuddling (how do they like to cuddle?) Jasper loves when you cuddle into him. He especially likes when you use him as a pillow when you are sleeping, because he can feel how comfortable you feel knowing he is near. D = Dates (what does their ideal date with you look like?) His ideal date with you would actually be spending time with his family. He loves how you just mesh well with everyone in his family, so to him a night playing board games with them would be an ideal date night. Afterwards he would take you on a walk through their property, and you would wind up spending the night in his bedroom, with the rest of the Cullen clan being quiet throughout the house so as not to disturb you. Jasper is so tuned into all of the emotions of the people around him because of his gift, that he doesn’t realize that you can always tell exactly what he’s feeling. You picked up on it pretty quick, because in your mind he deserved to have someone understand his feelings the way that he understands everyone else’s. F = Family (do they want one? If they do, when?) He does, but not in the normal sense. He saw and went through what it was like when Bella was pregnant, so you best believe he is not going to get you pregnant. He does want to marry you though, and you both have already agreed on when you will become a vampire. Neither of you ever want to be without the other again. G = Gifts (how do they feel about gift giving? What are their habits when it comes to this?) He’s rich, so he is always giving you gifts. Hell, he bought you a whole car for your one year anniversary, because he was tired of hearing the squeaky brakes on the car you had, because you refused to get them checked out. For your two year he took you to Isle Esme for 2 weeks(however he forgot the sunscreen so by day three you were hiding inside away from the sun because you had already been badly sunburned) H = Holding Hands (when/how do they like to hold hands?) Jasper doesn’t really hold your hands. His way of “holding hands” is to wrap his arms around you, or to stand behind you with his hands on your hips.. I = Injury (how would they act if you got hurt?) He shows you he loves you by how he treats you. By how important it was to him that you got along with his family. He also constantly has a hand on you whenever you’re together, because he knows that it makes you feel loved. M = Memory (favorite memory together?) After the fight with the Volturi when he called you and told you he was on his way to pick you up. You knew that from then on everything would be okay. N = Nightmare (what is their worst fear?) His worst fear is losing control around you and killing you. He knows that there is always a small possibility that something could happen, and that is his biggest fear ever. O = Oddity (what is one quirk they have?) His quirk is his gift. He can feel so many emotions all at once, and he can change people’s feelings. You get so into them, and if you’ve seen them before you’ll quote the entire movie. It’s entertaining for the both of you, even though he doesn’t really enjoy watching movies.(This man will do anything to make you happy) R = Rhythm (what song reminds you of them?) When it comes to vampire dangers, he will only tell you if it would be dangerous for you not to know. He didn’t tell you Bella was pregnant until probably two days before she gave birth, because you had been on vacation and he didn’t want to worry you while you were with your family. T = Time (how long did it take you to get together?) You moved to Forks during your senior year, around October. Bella was still in her depressive state, and the Cullens were not around. When Bella got kind of okay again, the two of you became fast friends, so when the Cullens came back she made sure to introduce you to them. You and Jasper hit it off, and before graduation you guys were dating. Everyone at Forks High was surprised to learn that Alice and Jasper had not been together the whole time, but they were just really close because they “bonded over their family history before they were adopted”. The two of you are a less toxic version of Bella and Edward. U = Upset (how do they act when you’re upset?) When you’re upset with Jasper, he gives you space. He will wait until you call him and are wanting to talk things out with him to come see you again. He grew up in the south, and that is the respectful thing to do. When you are upset with other things, such as your family, he will sit and listen to you rant or cry until you are ready to just sit and be with him. He absolutely refuses to manipulate your emotions. V = Vaunt (what are they proud of? Do they like to show you off?) He loves to show you off. All of the vampires from all over that came for the fight were introduced to you before they left, because Jasper is so proud to be able to call you his. W = Warrior (how do they feel about you fighting? Would they fight for you, beside you, etc?) He doesn’t want you to fight. Most of the time any fights that happen happen between different supernatural beings, and he believes, at least while you are still human, that there is too big of a chance that you will get hurt. X = X-Ray (how well are they able to read you?) His gift makes it really easy for him to read your emotions, so he can read you pretty easily. Y = Yes (how would they propose to you?) He would wait until his entire family was on a hunting trip(purposefully leaving just the two of you) and he would cook you your favorite meal. Then, later that night, he would take you on a walk around his property, to a space that Alice and Rosalie had prepared, and he would get down on one knee and ask you there. Z = Zen (what makes them feel calm?) When he knows that you are safe. He also gets really calm when he watches you playing with Renesme. You babysat a lot in high school, so you’re really good with her. It makes him calm because he knows that even though the two of you will never have your own children you at least get to experience being an aunt. (Renesme calls you Aunt Y/N)

You heard knocking at your door. You checked your phone, two in the morning?? How had you stayed up so late? And who the hell was visiting you at this hour?

You headed to the door. Whoever was knocking was becoming impatient. Anywhere beyond the reservation and opening the door without question could end up badly. You were surprised to find Leah there.

“Y/n. We need your help.”

*SLAM*

Nope. Absolutely not. Sam wasn’t ready to have another girl in the pack. Leah had proved to be one too many. At least in his mind. Leah was still head over heels for Sam and made effort to try and stick up for you. No one else had met you, and honestly in the end it had been a good thing. You hadn’t needed to phase since the confrontation with the two. You’d learned control with out them, you owed them nothing.

“Y/n please. Theres a war coming. We need as many people to testify for the Cullens.”

“Not my problem. I’m not part of the pack. Either one.”

“You heard about Jacob?”

“You forget Paul’s imprint was one of my closest friends. Until Sam found out about that too. Apparently, everyones buddy buddy with the Cullens now.”

“The leeches helped us get rid of some of their own kind to protect the reservation. Well—they needed to protect Bella and we all worked together in the end. Whatever, anyways. There are trained vampires to destroy Jacobs imprint. He needs us to be there if a fight breaks out. The blonde one is convinced we just have to be there to testify shes only half leech.”

Half vampire? Your hand reached for the doorknob. No. This wasn’t your fight.

“Leah, shes useless to us anyway shes never been in a fight.” Who was that? Doesn’t matter, now you definitely weren’t helping.

“Jacob for once in your life, shut up. We need everyone we can get. She had more control than even you when she first phased. If she had the same training we had, she’d be helpful.”

“You two need to leave.” You said through the door. You remembered why you left in the first place. For the most part the pack had this belief that they could do no wrong. Typical misogynistic assholes. Leah still had hope Sam would come to his senses, even if she had finally left the damage had been done.

After hearing very hushed whispering you heard Jacob come to the door. “Look, I’m sorry. I really need to protect my imprint.”

“The child? The very underage child? I am not getting into that. This whole imprinting thing…it’s weird. They choose what you are to them right? Yet, none of you accept that they aren’t into you. Sam didn’t stop chasing Emily, and you wont stop chasing whatever her name is.”

“Her name is Renesme.” You could practically hear his teeth gritting together, “If she chooses someone else, then so be it.”

“Yeah, okay. I’ve heard about all the kids shifting. You don’t need me. I’m not dying for people who would never do the same. Tell little Robitussin sorry on my behalf.” You marched back up to your room. You didn’t allow yourself to relax until the two were out of sight. It didn’t take long for them to disturb you again. This time you couldn’t escape. It was both Sams and Jacobs pack this time.

“I’m sorry did I not make myself clear last night?”

“Y/n, I need to apologize. Even if you decide that you don’t help. I shouldn’t have been so quick to dismiss you. You can still be part of the pack. You always had that right.”

You rolled your eyes, “Gee, thanks. Why do you guys need me at all? You have plenty of people to make yourselves scary to any vampire.”

“We’d like to leave some more experienced people on the reservation in case things get bad. They shouldn’t, but still.”

“You don’t trust the younger ones.” Their silence answered your question, “I have no experience to give you.”

“Cut the crap, y/n. I was on patrol when you got that bloodsucker near Seattle.” Everyone froze, apparently this was new information. It was news to you. You’d been so focused on getting rid of that vampire you hadn’t heard anyones thoughts.

“What about it?”

“You phased quick enough to kill them and then phased out as soon as you were finished. We may need you.” Sam continued

“Is—is that even possible?” Someone youd never met asked, he noticed you staring, “I’m Embry by the way. I’m sorry for what happened.” He said that very clearly aimed at Sam and Leah, maybe not everyone had agreed with what happened to you. You shook yourself out of those thoughts, it doesn’t matter, you told yourself.

“Look, before you say anything, if we don’t scare these guys. They will kill all of us. Apparently, they have leeches that can stop you just by looking at you. There are other werewolves that killed people and they were all destroyed. If we don’t stand up to them everyone we care about will be killed.”

“Well, lucky for me all I have is me myself and I.” you crossed your arms

“You’ve been alone this whole time?!?” Embry asked again, he seemed furious

“For the last almost ten years. My parents were never around much, and the last time I saw them was three years ago. They stopped by for a night.”

“And you—”

“Embry. Relax.” Ooh alpha voice, must be nice to be able to have people have to listen to you. “Y/n you will fight with us.”

Was he seriously trying it with you? You laughed. “Seriously?”

“Worth a shot.”

“Whatever you say alpha.”

“You shouldn’t be able to say no to us.” Jacob said.

“You shouldn’t be able to talk at all, but here we are.” You turned to look at the rest of the tribe, they looked anxious. “you guys must be desperate if you are still here.”

“They are.” One of the bigger guys said, “You don’t have to help us, but wed really appreciate if you did. Like Sam there isn’t supposed to be a fight.”

“You’re expecting one though. Otherwise you wouldn’t be so worried about the res.”

“Paul’s right y/n. Please, its just in case. But if what Sam remembers you’d really be helping us out.” Leah said

You sighed, realistically they wouldn’t stop until you said yes, “I’m telling you now. If I feel like theres no hope I’m out. I’m not risking my life for you or any imprint. That includes little ringtone.”

Jacob tensed up. You waved at him and headed to your car. You needed to take a breather. “Let me know when and where.” You closed the door behind you and started your car up. You didn’t even need to go anywhere yet, you just wanted to get away.

The snow had begun sticking to the ground. The battle would be coming up soon. A few of the pack members had actually tried to be nice to you. Apparently they had been ona ‘do not ask questions, do not engage order.’ Not that it really mattered. You’d kept your distance as much as possible. Sam tried to tell you to do patrols once, he wasn’t happy when he found you watching movies at home. The message went through, he didn’t want to be undermined again anyway. You never met Jacob’s imprint, the less involved you were the better.

There was no avoiding it the morning of the confrontation. You couldn’t believe this many vampires and werewolves were ready to die for this child. Well, the pack had no choice but still. The mass of cloaked vampires entered your view. These people had eons of training, there was no way your side would win. Not without major casualties. The ginger vampire glanced your way and snarled at you. Watch it, you thought, before I take out someone on your side and let you lose. His lips formed a tight line and he turned back. Sam looked at you and asked if you were serious. Honestly, yeah probably, something rubbed you the wrong way about the red head. Sam actually agreed with you and you both refocused on the conversations.

Jacob, the kid and her parents went up to talk to whoever the guy in charge was. You looked at the ones closer to him. They would be the most dangerous you figured. The tall one would probably be the biggest problem if you ran into him, your eyes landed on the two kids next. They could maybe, maybe pass as teenagers. Your heart hurt at the thought of having to kill kids, even if they were immortal kids. You froze at the next person your eyes landed on.

There was no way. No freaking way. This shouldn’t even be possible. You imprinted. You just freaking imprinted. And on a vampire no less. You took a step back. He hadn’t even looked at you yet. Theres no way he’d want anything to do with a wolf. Let alone one that was supposed to fight you. You looked at Sam. You had to get out of there. He hung his head down.

“what is it?”

“We cant fight. We aren’t allowed to mess with imprints.”

“I’m not officially part of the pack, you stay if you want.” You could say that all you wanted, with the mind link he knew how desperately you wanted to avoid fighting anymore.

“Y/n, if we stay we cant promise we wont hurt him.” He sighed, “We have to back down.” You would never doubt sam again. You thought to yourself, you didn’t care how many patrols you had to run.

“I’ll hold you to that.” He joked before he tried to get Jacobs attention. You were already getting a hard time from the pack. They all realized how hard it was to try and avoid feelings for your imprint. You would never stop being grateful to them. I bet they wished they hadn’t made me come out now. A chorus of disagreement came from them You felt tears prick your eyes.

The pack started heading out. Jacob and Sam argued for a minute before he realized it was pointless. The pack had given the Cullens an equalizer. You felt bad but you already felt the urge to protect your imprint. What the hell was happening to you? As the pack started backing away your eyes finally locked with him. You should have just kept walking. You didn’t wait to see his reaction, you turned and ran.

on the other side of the stall, you were frozen. you had never seen such a stunning creature, wearing a silky purple shirt and half red, half yellow pants with green pockets and blue shoes. the faint smell of jasmine hung in the air along with that of mirchi chai, justin bieber's "baby" blasting through your headphones. you would never forget this day as long as you lived, because it led to you spending so much time at the tea stall, hoping to get a glance at him again, that chandu chacha offered you an internship in his tea stall. needless to say, you gladly accepted.

you saw jaffar multiple times after that, but he was always with friends so you never got the chance to talk to him. until one day, he wasn't. you didn't even notice at first because chandu chacha had you sucking out the mirchis before he put them in his tea. but as soon as your eyeballs made contact with his, you knew you had to go talk to him. you took the saliva coated mirchi out of your mouth and emptied the tiny bottle containing his favourite jasmine scent in your mouth. hopefully this would be enough to get him to notice you.

your sweaty hands were making your grip on the large bag slacken. his orbs tracked your every move curiously until you were standing right in front of him. you took a deep breath and tapped your phone screen. "mere rashq e qamr" started playing.

"jaffar, i have loved you since the moment i first saw you. i could not stop thinking about you since the moment you left chandu chacha's chai ki dukan. i have your used teabag from that day strung around my neck. look," you said, emptying the bag with all the teabags you had collected over the months. You would go to the end of the moon for your sisters. If you murdered someone, you would help her hide the body. But now you're really doubting if you should be killing her instead. Her depressed vampire boyfriend was going to out himself to the world so that the Volturi would kill him which you thought was first of all, super selfish and second of all very, very dumb. But you thought that the vampire venom might have done something to his brain, causing him to lose a couple of brain cells. You run after your sister through the people-filled streets of Volterra. You watch her stop in her stops as she watches Edward stand in the door opening of the castle. he takes small steps, getting more and more out of the shadows with each. Bella yells out his name before she starts to run towards him straight through the fountain. You shake your head as you run after her. "You're paying for new shoes, Bella," you mutter as you run thought the fountain. You cringe internally as you feel the cold water soaking through your shoes and socks. Bella jumps on Edward to push him back into the shadows.

You follow behind her and push both of them further into the castle. Once they are fully inside, you close the door so that all sunlight is blocked out. You look over to your sister to see her hugging Edward and sharing some loving words with him. "Why don't you come by to check if she's actually dead next time, Dracula?" you say. Edward doesn't even look up at you, though. He's too busy with processing that Bella is alive. He was never the brightest of the Cullens, in your opinion. From behind Bella and Edward, you can see two people walking towards you, one being significantly taller and broader than the other. As the people come closer you can see that they are two men with red eyes. "Great, more bloodsuckers," you say with a sigh.

The smaller of the two stares at you with big eyes. You can feel something in you wants to talk to him but the rational human in you reminds you that he is a vampire and that he probably only sees you as a good snack. "Your services won't be needed, after all, gentleman," Edward says. His voice is laced with anger. The tall man shakes his head.

"Aro wants to see you," he says. His voices send shivers down your spine and not the good kind. The smaller man nods. His hair bounces along with his movement. The smile that sits on his lips sends waves of warmth through your stomach. Something about vampires always made them look impossibly beautiful.

"And I think he would like to see the Swan's as well," he adds. You look over to Bella to see that she has the same panic in her eyes as you do. You take a deep breath to calm yourself down a bit.

You place your hands on your hips and cock your head to the side as you look back at the smaller vampire. "Who says I want to see him?" you ask. "Because would rather not be in a castle full of leeches, thank you very much.". The man lets out a chuckle as he shakes his head. He looks at the tall man next to him and they nod at each other. The tall man starts walking as he waves for you all to follow him. Edward drags Bella along with him but you stay planted on the floor. You're not going to follow these vampires. The smaller man runs over to you and grabs a hold of your arm as he drags you along with him.

His grip on you is surprisingly soft. You still struggle against him and try to pull out of his grasp but it's to no avail. "Let me go, your oversized mosquito!" you yell. The man chuckles as he shakes his head again. "I have a name, you know," he says. He keeps his free hand behind his back. "Do I look like I care, fang-boy?" you spit back. "It's Demitri, mi amore," he says. The nickname causes butterflies to swarm through your stomach but you mask them by throwing more insults his way. "Oh, go choke on some garlic". You remain silent after that. The walk to the kings only takes you all five minutes but they are the longest five minutes of your life. Once you enter the throne room, a weird feeling sits on the air. You and Bella stand close to each other while Edward tries to negotiate with Aro. You are both a bit too aware of the fact that you're the only humans in a room full of vampires.

"But Bella and the other human know of your existence, we can't have that,' Aro says. Edwards opens his mouth to speak but you beat him to it. You hold your finger up at Aro to silence him. "Hold up," you say. Everyone's eyes turn towards you as Bella tugs on your arm to desperately try to get you to shut the fuck up. "The other human? I have a name, you undead little fucker. Second of all, I don't know shit except that you're all dead.". You point at the kings, twins and the two men from the hallway. Finally, you point at Edward.

"And that, that man has the emotional stability of a toddler and you all have some weird blood kink so you better keep me out of this.". Aro cocks his head to the as he takes a couple of steps towards you. He is insulted by your lack of respect but intrigued at the same time.

"Who is this?" he asks while looking at Edward. You roll your eyes, "I'm right here, you can just ask me yourself," you say. "I'm Y/n Swan. Human and wondering if I should put some garlic in your blood or put a stake through your heart. Maybe both.".

Caius stands up from his throne as he stomps his foot on the ground. "How dare this human talk to us like this, brother? This is disrespectful!" he yells. Aro holds his hand up and turns towards him. He shushes him before turning back towards you. He follows your eyes to Demetri. You have been stealing glances from him ever since you laid your eyes on him.  Aro looks at Marcus who nods at him. He lets out a gleeful laugh before walking back to his throne and sitting down in it.

"They are free to go, for now," Aro says. Edward's eyes grow big in surprise but he knows how quickly the Volturi can change their mind so he grabs ahold of Bella's hand and tells her that they're leaving. "Come on, Y/n," Bella says. You shake your head. Your eyes are still locked with Demitri's. Something in you doesn't want to leave him. Something in you wants to stay with him forever. "Let's go," Bella tries again.

"No," you say softly. A smile grows in Demitri's face. Edward looks between you two and Marcus and quickly realizes what's going on. He drops Bella's hand. "Y/n, we got to go.". You shake your head at your sister. You take a couple of small steps over to Demitri. "No, I think I'm going to stay here with this ugly bloodsucker who clearly hasn't been able to look in a mirror since the birth of Christ," you say as you point to Demitri. Aro lets out a chilling giggle as he clasps his hands together.

Bella shakes her head. Edward lays a hand on her shoulder to hold her back. "You can't stay with him! He's a monster," she says. You turn towards her with your brows furrowed. "Umh, I don't think you can see a single fuck about my choice in man since you got together with mister 'I-cry-myself-to-sleep' over here who we just saved from suicide because he couldn’t just call you or come by to check if you were actually dead. I really think that you guys need some couples therapy by the way," you say. You take a couple more steps towards Demitri until you're close enough to shake his hand.

"Hi, I'm Y/n," you say. He nods with a smirk makes your stomach do cartwheels. "Nice to meet you, mi amore," he says. You smile at him. The coldness of his skin against yours calms you down somehow. It actually feels nice. You can hear Edward dragging Bella along with him and out of the throne room. He doesn't want to test the Volturi patience today. "So like, do all vampire have like some weird attraction thing with humans? Are you guys like ugly, blood kink having sirens now?" you ask. Demitri shakes his head. He turns you around and lays a hand on the small of your back as she starts to lead you towards the exit of the throne room. "Have you ever heard of mates?".

So we all know how Jacob imprinted on Renesmee, and they’re gonna end up together. But like Renesmee is an immortal and Jacob would die eventually, not soon but eventually. What do you think would happen to Renesmee after that? Or how Bella and Edward would feel about that?

SM addressed this at a Q&A, and it’s one of the reasons that I’m firmly convinced she intends this to be a romantic pairing down the line (ugggh):

E: Liz from Milwaukee would like to know ‘Will Jacob stay immortal with Renesme when she reaches maturity?

SM: I do believe there’s some concern about that and the lovely thing about their relationship is that Nessie apparently will not age past you know, like around 18, 20. And Jacob, as long as he keeps turning into a werewolf regularly, will always be the same as well so they’re good to go.

So basically SM intends that Jacob just keeps phasing forever so he can stay immortal with Nessie, which mean he’s going to outlive his family and all his pack and basically have to live the same isolated life as a vampire even though he has the choice, in theory, to go back to a normal life but of course the imprint won’t let him.  To paraphrase Rosalie, this is not the life Jacob would have chosen for himself. It was Bella’s dream to live forever with the Cullens, it was very much not Jacob’s and I just … I can’t see how this is a happy ending for him, or how it’s fair to Nessie to have her life basically decided since birth. The only person this is “good” for is Bella–now she gets to keep her best friend literally forever. I mean, I know Edward’s attitude toward Jacob improves in Breaking Dawn, but I can’t imagine he’s thrilled with this situation either.

Now that I read it, ngl I like "Life And Death" way better than "Twilight". Spoilers ahead.

CONS:

I have one really big issue and that’s that the execution for disproving that Twilight wasn’t sexist fell so flat. Bella experienced sexist treatment at the hands of Edward (her boyfriend), Charlie (her father), and Jacob (her best friend). While I can see what SM was getting at about Edward and Bella’s relationship specifically being uneven not because of gender, but because of power dynamics, Bella experienced sexism from her other important male relationships. Charlie and Edward had the whole “Take care of my girl” exchange in front of Bella like she wasn’t even there when he came to pick her up for baseball and it irritated her. Beau had his dad being awestruck that his son scored someone so hot in the equivalent scene and Beau was like “ikr?”. In NM (granted L&D didn’t get this far and went a different plot route in the end), Jacob sexually assaults Bella and because she can’t physically stop him, she just has to wait it out. Beau, like Bella, gets a harem to choose from, but unlike Bella, has (imo) more control at rearranging these dynamics.

There were also the societal adjustments made to suit Beau’s gender…like the assault in Port Angeles….what? Boys can’t be victims of random almost gang rapes? Or Beau’s fave book. The neuroscientist in me is like “well, there is a 2% genetic difference in males and females that accounts for mechanistic changes in brain functioning” while the sociologist in me is like “bullshit, his preference change is because of gender conformity and expectations”. So I’m torn.

Also the entire book is basically a fan fiction and a ploy for the author to make some more money (Yes I got suckered in, but still bro….you didn’t change much. I’d rather have something rewritten than revised).

Also, as much as I like the queer Twilight ideas, Bella would be just as “abused” in her relationship with Edythe and Beau would be “abused” in his relationship with Edward (I quote this because abused is the word used by fandom critics - I, like SM, always saw it as a power dynamic issue, not abuse, but that’s another thing all together) because both narrators just seem so damn susceptible to brainwashing and both versions of their love interest are incredibly forcible in their assertions and wills. The dynamics of their relationship don’t actually change much in the narrative, which was SM’s point - many people only called it abusive bc Edward was a male and Bella was a female, when in actuality it should be considered that way no matter what the gender or sexuality dynamics. Just saying. Stay consistent because, for all her faults, SM did. Edward/Edythe almost always got their way while Bella/Beau was often frustrated because they had to be the compliant one. When B does exert their will, it has to be through trickery rather than talking it out like adults bc they know E will be an obstacle. That is not an equivalent relationship and no amount of gender/sexuality changes will change that.

PROS:

So many things I loved. I adored Bella and Beau is just as lovable. He is so tol and so awkward and so adoring of this girl and it was refreshing to read a YA romance (esp a supernatural/fantasy one) about an ordinary boy falling in love with an extraordinary girl. I also like the fact that he’s more straight-forward in his descriptions of things that aren’t Edythe than Bella is. Bella goes on and on about how green and wet and cold it is and how she hates Forks bc it’s not Phoenix. That never appealed to me. Beau’s straight-forwardness and briefness about these details, to me, emphasizes the suddenly flowery, dramatic language he adopts when basking in Edythe’s glory. It was cute.

The genderbent versions of the characters seemed so much more…well-rounded and developed compared to their original incarnations. Which is weird because the book is essentially a copy-n-paste except for a few key moments and changes. Perhaps the author was just more comfortable writing them this time around.

Edythe Cullen is so much cooler than Edward. I didn’t like Edward much but I understand Beau’s obsession more than Bella’s. Fr dude I get it. Like the ECs essentially have the same rotten personality but it’s the little details that draw you in. Edythe’s details make her more awesome than Edward, sorry not sorry. She’s also like, smol and graceful and possibly more sarcastic than any version of all the characters which contrasts Beau’s slightly overwhelmed baby giraffe status so adorably. She reminds me of those evil-but-elegant looking Maine Coon cats.

A bevy of awesome female characters. Because so many of the key supernaturals were male in Twilight, it is fucking amazing that this whole new world seems so female driven. The new Volturi? Yes. The matriarch wolf pack? Double yes.

Archie fucking Cullen. I didn’t think it was possible for me to love a Twilight character more than Alice and Rosalie, but Archie man. Omg. (Royal not so much -his name omg I’m dead - because he seems to have Rosalie’s chip but his reasons for it are so ugh compared to hers. Both lost their families and statuses, yes, but Rosalie enduring horrific sexual assault before dying and losing all this on top of that seems more striking than Royal getting jumped. Idk, both are PTSD-inducing moments, but it once again portrays that SM failed to full stop the sexism she’s accused of utilizing. Also Royal was so vague about the details so SM wouldn’t have to think about developing why Royal is such a prick - like he could just be an asshole who thinks Beau is an idiot. That’s fine. I thought Bella was an idiot and sided with Rosalie, bc yeah girl, you want to die for a boy, a terrible, terrible boy at that. Rosalie was right in her logic and gets unfairly shat on for being a bitch. Whatever. I digress.) But Archie is also a double yes. I loved Archie, I want one in my life.

The ending. That was the ending I wanted for Twilight when I first read the saga. Tbh, the way Breaking Dawn ended was too perfect, kinda creepy on many accounts, retconish (Renesme or however the fuck it’s spelled shouldn’t exist, fight me), and frankly, incredibly boring. Too many things worked out for Bella and Edward and while they did have obstacles, their relationship was too happily ever after for my tastes and not really earned because a lot of their obstacles arose from their own stupidity/stubbornness.

The follow up for this new ending could potentially be soooo good and complex because there would be so many new obstacles and stakes to explore with Beau as a (spoiler) vampire in a relationship with a girl he’s madly in love with, but slowly realising exactly what it is he ended up losing to be with her. That is good relationship strife. Plus seeing Beau have a nemesis in Victor (Victoria) would make up for us being deprived of Bella having a single enemy that she went toe-to-toe with rather than her being the target of Edward’s nemesis because that would hurt Edward. Bella was very much side-lined in her own story and didn’t get to grow much in Edward’s presence (she had development just fine when he wasn’t around) until she got pregnant. Beau, with his ending, would not have that. I also want to see more fiercely protective Edythe - I want to see a couple protect each other, not one more powerful partner seclude the other away from the world “for their own good”. The new ending is a good way to provide growth for Edythe’s character as well and completely overturn that “abusive” dynamic. While I’m sad Bella didn’t get Beau’s awesome ending, the author seems satisfied and so were a lot of less critical readers so… *shrugs* Whatever.

Anyway td;lr - Life and Death, while not perfect, is a better story than Twilight with the foundation for a really interesting follow up if the time and thought were put into it.

All of the Cullens came back home about two hours ago and everyone returned to their things to somehow keep the normality but there was something that still bothered Bella.

Jacob debated if he should shift or not but in the end decided it was better for him to take his bike and was ready for a trip.

Upon seeing a small reddish house wolf shifter slowed down and stopped on the driveway then got off the bike, cautiously making his way to the front door.

A wolf in Jacob picked up upon hearing the tires break, then he heard a low whine.

Thank fully it wasn't that far away from where he stood earlier. On the spot, he noticed a bright colored old car and a tail of a wolf on the side. Coming closer to it, dark smoke was seen that started going off in the hood of the car.

The person that sat inside of the vehicle didn't move- it was clear as day the accident scared him half to death.

Walking at the front of the car Jacob checked if Seth was ok and fortunately, he was- after shifting back he will get an ear full for what happened, he was sure of it.

Feeling a pair of eyes on him, Jacob looked up and was met with a pair of (E/C) orbs but small parts of them were golden watching his movement which made him freeze.

Neither of them noticed the fire starting but when they did man sitting behind the wheel grabbed the handle to open the door but it wouldn't move.

That's when the panic set in.

Fire started slow but it quickly gained strength spreading more on the passenger side.

Seth looked panicked as his eyes moved between Jacob and the person trapped in the car. That's when the bigger wolf did something smaller one didn't expect, he shifted back in his human form and tore the driver's side door open pulling the male out of there into his arms.

Feeling warm skin under his fingertips (Y/N) opened his eyes looking up seeing a man that wasn't there before. Using his hands, shorter male tried to get out of the embrace pushing onto the toned chest.

You said you would explain how you view the fic to be similar to the Jake & Ness storyline so please explain. As your original comment was public on the reblog I think you should explain your views publicly. The author is probably upset anyway so at this point does it matter if you upset her further? If anything I think you owe it to her and us to justify the comment you made originally as I still don't see how her fic is like the original storyline. Both Alec and Jacob know their mate/imprint from the time they are babies. Apparently a mate has no choice in the matter. We know imprints don’t.

The baby is now conditioned in a castle and only knows said vampires, Ness is only going to know the cullens and Jacob due to her rapid growth.

Just because we don’t see them hanging out, it’s implied that Alec has watched grow. Which similar to Jacob would be, say it with me…grooming.

Supposedly Alec didn’t know or have feelings for her until she was legal which, okay…according to twilight Jacob has no romantic intentions for Renesme either even Edward says so.

Marcus (Edward in this case) knows about it and Demetri (Bella) ends up accepting it without much of a fight.

Alright besides these rather obvious parallels, my problem lies in that no one seems to have a problem with this but are quick to demonize an indigenous character. Let me make clear again, because apparently some people ah e trouble reading that I am not accusing or assuming anyone is anything but asking you to dig inside yourself and check your biases.

Meeting someone who is an adult is different than being an adult and watching and interacting with them as a baby and then ending up having sex with them. When I don’t use the characters names it gets uncomfortable. So yes, to me it’s the exact same story but it’s a volturi version.

This was my opinion, that I am welcome to have on my page. You are welcome to unfollow or be upset at my opinion just like me and a few others were upset at the fic. I don’t even owe you this explanation because realistically once someone is on the defensive the chances that they see something and say Hmm okay maybe you’re right are slim to none. Good question! 

It would be interesting to see, honestly, because then we’d have a better sense if she were actually mad about a nickname (honestly, even with the Loch Ness monster connotations, ‘Nessie’ is an infinitely cuter/better name than ‘Renesmee’) or if she were experiencing the consequences of newborn emotions and was flipping out over nothing.  I guess the “Elizabeth” version of “Nessie” would be Jacob nicknaming her “Lizard” or something, which Bella could not like. I mean, still not a reason to scream and attack someone, but like, I could understand being annoyed, while something like Betty or Betsy or Beth or Eliza or Lizzie seem harmless, all things considered. But, gosh, doesn’t “Elizabeth Cullen” just match so much better with Edward Cullen, and Alice Cullen, and Isabella Cullen than Renesmee does?! And SM has a weird thing for E names so it even fits in that way: Edward, Esme, Emmett, Embry, Emily, Eleazar, Ephraim . . .

I mean I guess “Elizabeth” and “Isabella” are kinda technically the same name, or at least from the same root, but even that sort of works? No one calls her Isabella anyway so it’s fine.

Ed ecco Veritas Lungavista, uno dei miei personaggi preferiti della trilogia dei Lungavista assieme al Matto e a Umbra. Ho apprezzato la pragmaticita' di questo re in attesa, la sua capacità di sacrificare perfino la sua stessa vita nel nome del regno e del suo popolo, il suo sforzo per essere abbastanza per la sua gente anche se per metà della saga non viene apprezzato sia per colpa del fratello Regal, sia per colpa della minaccia delle navi rosse. La sua storia con Kettrichen, all inizio tiepida, mi ha spezzato il cuore. Davvero, questo è un vero re e se fossi regina farei le sue stesse scelte per salvare il mio popolo. Tra l altro sto rileggendo proprio questa saga e rimango del mio parere: è semplicemente un capolavoro e gli altri libri aggiunti, pur avendo spesso buoni spunti ( adoro la storia di Ape, tra le " bambine magiche" iniziate con Renesme Cullen è quella più intensa che tocca temi delicati senza renderli pesanti... è così ben strutturata da sembrare una bambina vera con ombre e luce, non perfetta, assolutamente non perfetta, e in questo modo più umana) non riescono ad eguagliare totalmente l intensità e le atmosfere della trilogia iniziale...almeno per quanto riguarda i due protagonisti che si allontanano troppo caratterialmente da come sono rappresentati nei Lungavista ( discorso che vale più per il Matto che per Fitz), e per quanto riguarda la trama dell Uomo ambrato che pur essendo anche carina da leggere, si allontana drasticamente dalla trilogia iniziale sembrando quasi una storia a se stante quasi scollegata,almeno per me .Tutto un altro discorso per Ape, dove l autrice riesce di nuovo a toccare tematiche molto profonde creando una storia e un personaggio che farà sempre parte di me, nonostante il discorso che ho fatto sui protagonisti valga in parte anche qui ,anche se li ho trovati più profondi di quanto siano nella "seconda trilogia" e a volte anche nella prima . In ogni caso la Hobb rimane una delle mie scrittrici preferite perché è semplicemente un genio.
