W A T C H I N G
Definitely a downgrade from the original.
It's like an inverted Freddy Kruger who sleeps to astrally attack the protagonists.

Propaganda
Asta Nielsen (Hamlet)—She played a version of Hamlet in which Hamlet was in love with Horatio because he was a woman raised to pretend to be a man, and nothing else about the story is changed. Her depiction has inspired countless people and did SHRIMP things to my gender and sexuality. A vote for Asta is a vote for queer goths everywhere 🖤
Maude Fealy (King Rene’s Daughter, David Copperfield)—She served cunt all the time
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Asta Nielsen:
Tumblr media
"One of the best Hamlets I've ever seen, she's so expressive I can feel her pain. Also, goth girl/boy realness."
Tumblr media
"I just think she is neat. She was the first real movie icon in Europe, known for her big dark eyes, 1,70m/5'7 height, and "boyish figure" which gave her an androgynous allure. She opposed the Nazi regime. Also, her role in Hamlet is not Ophelia. She plays Hamlet."
Tumblr media
"I suspect the non-american silent movie stars are gonna be in the minority, so I'm gonna be at least throwing her name in the ring. Great danish dame, one of the very first female silent movie stars (wiki says "one of the first international movie stars")! Best Hamlet to ever To Be Or Not To Be and absolutely gender envy. Her career unfortunately did not survive the transition to talkies (she however lived pretty long)."
Tumblr media
"I think she's not as iconic in America as she is in Europe, because her films got censored over there, but she really is the original sex symbol of film. I need everyone to take a look at her as Hamlet and to have watched this clip of her dance in The Abyss before you vote. It was hot then and it's still hot now!!!"

At the Tracker panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, star Justin Hartley may not have been able to offer reward money to fans, but he did reward them with some secrets from season 2 of the CBS hit.
The series, which is also executive produced by Hartley, follows a man named Colter Shaw who helps track down missing people (and sometimes animals) in exchange for the reward money. But he also has some mysteries in his past, including the unexpected death of his father.
In season 1, viewers were also introduced to Colton's younger sister Darby, played by Melissa Roxburgh, and his estranged older brother Russell, played by Jensen Ackles.
Hartley confirmed earlier this month that both would be back for season 2 — and during his Comic-Con panel, he revealed that Ackles would be filming with him this week in Vancouver. He'll appear in the second episode of the season.
Also revealed during the panel: a time jump.
The season 1 finale saw Colter learn a few things about his father — and his siblings. And the new season will pick up a few months later.
In March, only a few episodes into season 1, Tracker was renewed for a second season after its instant popularity. Not only was it CBS’s most-watched show since Young Sheldon’s 2017 premiere, but according to Nielsen, Tracker was also the No. 1 show on cable since it premiered as well.
Hartley talked to PEOPLE earlier this year about some of his favorite aspects of Colter's personality.
“The fact that Colter doesn't have a girlfriend, I think that's one of the things I wanted to sort of keep,” Hartley, 47, said. “I feel like if he has a wife and a girlfriend and a family, and he continues to do all these dangerous things, that's kind of selfish.”
Asked at Comic-Con how Colter really feels about his friend Reenie (Fiona Rene), Hartley clearly still feels this way.
"I think all of the things about him that are heroic and brave become reckless and selfish," he says. "It's like, I'm going to leave my house and go through all this stuff and put myself in danger and you're back here worried about me. I just don't think that's a good look."
He also explained that Tracker has been a “labor of love” for him on Live with Kelly and Mark in April 2024.
“When This Is Us ended, our directing producer, Ken Olin, came to me and said, ‘I’d really like to keep working with you,’ and I said, ‘Likewise,’" he explained.
Hartley continued, “So we found this book, The Never Game, written by Jeffery Deaver and took the character Colter Shaw and developed it for TV.”

This Slate article written by Sam Adams about the HBO documentary "Savior Complex" is eyebrow-raising.
The way he equates No White Saviors' brand of activism with Renee Bach's lethal missionary work in Uganda (which has roots in colonialism) is so disingenous. I'm not saying No White Saviors is flawless, it isn't. It's White co-founder Kelsey Nielsen has been ousted from the organization in 2022 for misusing the organization's funds and verbally abusing her Ugandan employees, threatening to fire her Ugandan co-founder Olivia Alaso, and she has also been criticized by Ugandan activists for her approach to activism. But, I don't think No White Saviors should be judged solely by the actions of one White woman, and Sam Adams also failed to mention that the organization had also helped Bach's victims with legal support by conencting them to Ugandan attorney Primah Kwagala (who is also featured in the HBO documentary). And then, he also underplays the impact of Bach's actions by simply describing them as "questionable" at one point in the article.
Tumblr media
Describing Renee Bach's behavior of posing as someone with medical expertise to poor Ugandan women from remote villages, performing medical procedures on their children, and killing 105 children in the process as "questionable" is an understatement at best.

If any of you have published in KU feel free to reply/reblog with your stories!!
(Until May, at least)
What I like to read:
Fantasy exclusively, just imagine all the next bullets have "fantasy" on them
Short novels/novellas/short stories
Gaslamp/steampunk/not-just-medieval timeframe
Either super funny/cozy
...OR super dark horror gorefests
Whump tbh
Queer characters!!!
Especially asexual characters, bonus if there's a romantic element
(I just like the queer element to be discussed and pretty important, even if it's not a coming out story)
Polyam/reverse harem
Retellings of myths and fairy tales
Elves that remind you more of The Dragon Prince and Dragon Age than ACOTAR (all my love to ACOTAR)
Magical creatures that aren't often the leading folks in books (centaurs? Satyrs? Succubi? I could go on)
Hyperspecific: beautiful posh boys who are vile wretched little creatures
If any of this sounds like you please help me stock my Kindle 🙏 I must consume new indie stories
PS. If I like it I can guarantee you that I'll write a review
And if I don't like it I can guarantee you that I'll flip through all the pages regardless so you get your coin

The Case of Kindall, K. (Kindall K series #1) by Renée Nielsen
A mystery/thriller/suspense, action and adventure novel
When seventeen-year-old Kyle Kindall is imprisoned despite pleading not guilty, the judge – suspecting Kyle may have been poorly represented at the trial – assigns a trusted friend to find more evidence that may support Kyle’s story.
But Yuuki Takahashi is already dealing with a lot of stress in his life when Timothy, the judge, approaches him. After an incident rendered him with PTSD a year ago, he’s at war with himself as to whether or not he should take on Kindall’s case. However, it’s not just his health at stake here; it’s Kyle freedom as well. Why would anyone still insist they aren’t guilty even when everyone and everything else suggests otherwise?
Yuuki can’t help but feel that something isn’t right and he’s determined to find out why.

The brothers are back together!
In PEOPLE's exclusive photo from the upcoming episode of season 2 of Tracker, Justin Hartley and Jensen Ackles reunite in their roles as siblings.
After first working together in season 1 with Hartley as Colter and Ackles as his estranged brother Russell, the longtime friends are coming together once again — but it isn’t without drama.
“Jensen and I have known each other for a long time, we just never had a chance to work together,” Hartley, 47, tells PEOPLE in a statement. “Jensen is the perfect guy to play Russell. It’s such a well fleshed out character in the book and even more so with what we’ve done on the show.”
“And then Jensen just brings to it the next level,” he adds.
Episode 2 of season 2, titled “Ontological Shock,” airs Sunday, Oct. 20, and sees Colter disappear while searching for a missing father. Reenie (played by Fiona Rene) then calls in Russell to help track him down in the intense hunt for the survivalist.
Hartley first teased Ackles’ return to the series during the Summer Television Critics Association 2024 Press Tour in July. Fans went wild seeing the two together at the end of Tracker season 1 when the Supernatural star made a guest appearance and they have been anticipating seeing him again.
“We got him, he’s coming back,” Hartley said at the time. “We’re having fun with that. It’s a great story.”
Although the This Is Us alum said “I don’t know” when asked how many episodes would feature Ackles, showrunner Elwood Reid assured viewers it would be for "more than one" episode.
"It’s like family: when we text him [he says], ‘Tell me where and tell me when,’ and he shows up," explained Reid, who previously worked with Ackles on Big Sky. "He’s just that kind of guy.”
Hartley’s Colter is an experienced survivalist and tracker who offers his skills to both civilians and law enforcement while also dealing with his own complicated personal life. In the season 1 finale, Colter uncovered some secrets about his father and siblings — a storyline that is carrying on into season 2.
Tracker was an instant hit, renewed for a second season only a few episodes into its debut. It was also revealed to be CBS’s most-watched show since Young Sheldon’s premiere in 2018 and the No. 1 show on cable since its premiere, according to Nielsen.
The season 1 finale saw Colter learn a few things about his father — and his siblings. And the new season will pick up a few months later.
