"STANLEY HELP!"
Stan felt himself freeze up, his heart race and mind go blank, why couldn't he think? Why couldn't he move?
He watched in horror as his brother floated up backwards through the air into the gaping hole in space and time.
"Do something!"
"What...what do i do!?" He asked meekly, looking around for something to help.he watched as parts of his brother slowly disappeared, and as he reached into his coat pocket and tossed something at him. "Hide my research...CALLL Y/N ANYTHING-"
Stan shielded his eyes as a bright white light filled the room and knocked him back onto the floor. The room was suddenly quiet.
"Ford!?...Ford! Come back!" He wasted no time to get back up and bang on the machine, hoping it would start back up like an old appliance. "Please!"
He raced to the lever a few feet away, desperately pulling and yanking at it, but it didn't budge.
"Stanford!?...Ford!? Are you home yet!?" The small coo of an unfamiliar voice snapped Stan from his nightmare.
"Hello!?" The voice echoed out again. He quickly got up, reaching for his only form of security. A baseball bat.
The voice had gone silent, but he could still hear someone moving he took a long pause, then opened the door swinging his bad.
"FORD WAIT! WAIT, IT'S ME! ITS Y/N!!"
Y/n?
He stopped swinging the bat and stared down at you.
"Call y/n! Anything-"
"Y/n?"
"Yes, it's me, Ford! I haven't been gone that long have i?"
He cleared. "No not at all we have some catching up to do."
You could tell there was something ford...well stan (you'd have to get used to the sudden name change) wanted to tell you while you sat across from him. Like he wanted to give you bad news. But he seemed to be thinking of the right way to put it.
"So..stan...what made you want to change from Ford to stan? Did your family have that much of an impact on you?" You tried to joke to lighten the tension that seemed to linger in the air.
"Well...something like that...listen y/n-"
"Are you OK? You seem...different you seem nervous...more nervous then when I left.." You placed your hand over top of his and offered a reasuring smile.
"I..."
stan didn't know you...he had no right to lie to you. But Ford seemed to trust you and judging from the photo on his desk in the basement, how fondly he seemed to write about you in the journal...the scrapped drawings of you in the garbage you meant a whole lot more to him then stan could understand right now, you must have felt the same way about his brother.
He remembered how worried his brother had been in making sure he understood you were absolutely under no circumstances to not touch the journals or anything pertaining to it again.
"My closest friend y/n and I have been working on this project for months now...I should have listened to her but I didn't...I need you to get rid of this journal she can't be near any of this when she returns."
"Did something happen with the portal?...with that...creature? And what happened to your hands!" You said now, pulling both hands into yours to examine them.
Besides, you already seemed so worried. He couldn't be the one to break the news to you. Not now.
Besides, he had a plan.
Sort of.
So he did what he did best.
Lied.
"Well...uh while you were away, I had a little accident. I had to get surgery...yea surgery, and the accident you know was from the portal...so I said, Forget the whole thing! "
He Tried to say it in a way that would convince even himself.
"Stanford, what do you mean? What happened? Are you just going to give up on everything we worked for?"
"I have to, I just need some time."
Neither of you noticed at first that you were holding hands as you spoke. Stan was the first to notice the closeness. It was the first time in what felt like years that anyone had shown him this kind of affection, let alone the kindness you were demonstrating with your concern.
"I don't know what happened while I was away or when you even had time for something to go wrong or why you would even start working again without me!" He noticed the slight annoyance building up and squeezed your hand.
And you took a breath. "But I understand and I won't pretend to know what happened and if you aren't ready to tell me I can respect that...things got a little rocky between us before I left and I'm really just hoping things can go back to the way they used to be with us. If a longer break and time is what you need... then I am 100% behind your decision."
He felt a wave of relief wash over him at your words. Maybe it wasn't your words but the kind-hearted look in your eyes, or maybe it was the way you still held his hands in yours.
You'd be the first two admit two things about your current situation.
One, Nostalgia was a funny thing. You knew when something was off about your bestfriend, the man infront of you was was a changed man, while his story didn't add up he looked shaken and defeated...after all this was the man you trusted with half your life. And you wouldn't lie, you had clung so desperately to the memories of college and spring through winter, it was that glimmer of hope and a mix of Nostalgia for your good times together that made you believe him.
And two, You always knew better then to trust your heart you and Ford would joke about the idea of following your heart and not your brain, how silly a concept it was that the organ that pumped blood through your body had such a pull on your decision making it made your thought process stop.
Yet here you where.
Following your heart.
"How about a few drinks and I can tell you about my trip?" You offered standing and being the first to break the lock between your hands. "And I can tell you about the plans I have for this place!"
"Plans?"
"Sure! I mean, we aren't doing our science junk anymore, so we need to make money somehow, right?"
You set down two glasses.
"Ok?"
You sat down, you listened to him explain how he had already done a few tours displaying whatever you had already had laying around and how people where eating it up.
"Stanford you've never been one for the gimmicky tricks, you've always cared more about the real deal...WE'VE been about the real deal...why lie to people?"
"Trust me y/n do a tour with me tomorrow try to show the people a real life monster and whatchamacallit and put it up against my made up creature."
You laughed. This wasn't what you had expected Stanford pines to spend his break away from work doing. It was out of character for him. But refreshing somehow.
Just like that, the seasons changed, and it was spring again
You learned quickly people didn't like the truth.
Real monsters and ghouls seemed to only upset or bother people so you and stan collaborated a way to make attractions that seemed real enough but also gimmicky enough that tourists would eventually laugh at it.
You learned pretty quickly that you were not only a pretty crafty person but an excellent storyteller.
You and Stanford seemed to almost pick up where you left off bonding and cracking jokes. It was like he was more confident than when you left him, more relaxed and full of life. You two fit right back into place with eachother with out missing a beat.
It's exactly what you'd been missing.
Soon, you were renovating half the house to be a showroom and giftshop, and soon after you were selling and wearing t shirts, you began putting up a sign. By the following summer, you were basically an operational business.
The mystery shack felt more like a brain child of you and Stanford and you cared for it like such.
It was something fun.
Something that didn't seem to be running Stanford down like the science stuff did. You could see a genuine smile on his face as he showed some local kid the corni-corn.
It was silly. You couldn't remember the last time you'd done something silly and adventurous.
It felt good.
"Another day another dollar y/n my dear." Stan said, flipping the open sign to close and placing his little red fez cap on top of your head.
"Soon enough, we'll have people from all over the place coming to get a piece of the mystery shack." He said, wrapping his arm around your shoulders, leading you back to the section of the Mystery shack that was still your shared home.
"Yea, we have a real Walt Disney start-up story, don't we stanford." He laughed loudly before suddenly getting serious.
"Listen. I wanted to say thank you for sticking with me through this. It means a lot."
"Of course, stanford." You reached up and planted a small peck on his cheeks. "We've been through everything together. I'm not going to stop now."
You could see stans face flush slightly as you stretched and yawned. "Anyways goodnight stanford."
"Uh yea...goodnight..." You heard him mumble as he touched his cheek where you kissed him.
Things where looking up.

Hey!! I love your fic's so much!
Can I request a Jacob x Fem!reader where they are friends but reader has a crush on Jacob. When he shifts he leaves and does what he did to Bella like ignoring her and Billy won't answer the door.
Mutual pinning but neither knows. He imprints on reader.
Thank you so much keep up the great writing :)
Also, I was wondering if you are going to be doing the vampires as well?
Hi!, Thank you so much for the request! I appreciate the kind words <3
I will be doing fanfics for the vampires as well! As of right now I only have the wolves, but I am planning on making a master list for the vamps and Bella. If you want to make a request for them I can definitely do that! I am planning on making a fic for Jasper soon!
A/N: Not proofread! I aged Jacob up a bit, you both are seventeen here. I didn't know exactly how to end this but I think I might do a spin-off series off of this fic so if you are interested in that let me know. Also, sorry for the late posting I am currently sick and going through it lmao. Hope you enjoy <3
Warnings: Jacob being an ass, cursing, angst, Y/N with a backbone.
Wolf’s Out Of The Bag
Jacob Black x Fem!reader
You were staring blankly down at your phone. Ten phone calls, ten phone calls sent to voicemail. Ten desperate, pleading voicemails. No callback, no text, nothing received. You snapped your phone closed and threw it down on the bed.
It had been two weeks since Jacob stormed off from your house after getting into a small disagreement, at least it started off that way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"It's nothing you need to worry about, Jacob," You grumbled with a slight roll of your eyes. Hoping he would drop the subject.
He was giving you an irritated look. You lightly pushed him with your shoulder giving him a small smile.
"I didn't think you'd care that much, it was one date and it's never happening again," you noted with a light-hearted laugh to ease the tension.
He turned to face you, irritation turning to anger. You could actually feel the heat radiating off of his body next to yours.
"Wow you must be really dumb, I mean how could you even think about going on a date with that pig. He's not good enough for you, but then again if you were desperate enough to give him a chance maybe I'm wrong" He barked getting more bitter with each word.
You look at him in shock.
"Why would you say that to me" You said not believing what you were hearing. "It's really none of your business who I go out with, you aren't my bodyguard, you don't have to 'protect' me. When did you get the right to decide who is 'good enough' for me? Huh? You're being a dick and I don't know why but it better change right now." You say sternly. He has never acted like this before and this sudden behavior change is not sitting well with you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jacob left shortly after that. He had gotten so angry he was shaking, you can't even remember the words that were thrown after that. Now, he wasn't answering the phone. Billy said he came down with mono, you didn't know how much you believed it but decided to trust that Billy wouldn't lie to you.
Jacob was your best friend, you loved him a lot. You had never had such an intense fight, you never thought he would react the way he did. You only went on the stupid date to get Jacob out of your head, you thought that maybe you would get over Jacob if you found someone else to pay attention to. You were wrong, no one made you feel the way that Jacob did. Jacob made you feel at home, you couldn't explain why but it was like he was the person you were meant to be with. He was the one who understood you fully and would never judge you for anything you said or did. Until now......
You were deeply hurt by what Jacob said to you, and if he thought that you would get over it he was surely mistaken. He had never said anything more hurtful to you in your entire friendship. You had thought about just letting it go, letting life run its course even if it meant Jacob being out of your life, but you couldn't just sit and let him speak to you that way. You wanted answers. Sitting in your room waiting for him to call and explain was becoming too stressful. You sat there for hours overthinking and no matter what you were doing you were replaying the moment in your mind.
You must be going crazy. At least that's what you were trying to convince yourself after seeing Jacob cliff-jumping with Sam Uley and his gang. You had decided that you would go to La Push, and relax your body and mind on one of the only partly cloudy days in Forks. The skies were pretty clear but there was a storm coming soon, so you decided to do it now. Never in your life did you think you would see what you were seeing now. Are you fucking serious? was all you could think as you drove your car straight to Billy Black's house. You wanted to make sure it was really Jacob, so you went to the man who had told you how 'serious' his condition was in the first place.
As you pulled into the driveway the clouds began covering the sky in a dark grey mass. You hopped out of the car and began walking to the front door, Billy had opened the door as soon as you stepped onto the wood. His face had a mix of concern and confusion as he noticed your agitated expression and the way your chest was slightly heaving from anger.
"Where is he" you say with a grumble.
"He's not here, he went out," He says seriously but looking down a bit not wanting to make eye contact. Billy didn't like lying to you and to your face it was even worse.
Just as you were about to speak you looked to the side and saw that far away down the hill, Jacob stood playfully nudging another man as a few more came out of the woods.
"Don't Y/N" Billy said in warning.
You started stomping down the hill, ignoring Billy's yells. Billy calling your name caught the attention of Jacob, as his face shifted from laughing to completely still. You continued to walk towards Jacob as the rain started, it quickly went from a drizzle to full pouring as you finally reached him.
To say you were fuming would be an understatement.
"What the actual fuck Jacob!" you say basically screaming at the shirtless man, who was now staring directly into your eyes with what looked like pure amazement but you ignored it the best you could, whatever love for him you felt in that moment may have been strong but you were too angry to care so you continued.
"So we have one fight and you ignore me for two weeks?! I called you ten times, ten times Jacob. You couldn't bother picking up the phone at least once, you could've told me you didn't want to be friends but no! You had your daddy lie to me" You say with an angry laugh.
"I thought you were sick Jacob! Too sick to pick up the damn phone and text me! Come to find out you were just having too much fun cliff jumping with the guys we used to make fun of! You know what you can have them, If you want to throw away seventeen years of friendship then be my guest." You say finally taking a breath.
The weight off of your chest feels amazing, but as you finish Jacob falls to his knees. The boys behind him look between you two with pure shock on their faces before they start laughing and smiling. You look up at them shocked and confused thinking they were making fun of you. They start walking away but not before patting Jake on the back. Sam leans down and whispers something to him as he sits there still on his knees staring at you.
"Do you even care about a word I just said to you? You know what never mind if you think this is a joke I might as well leave," You say turning around and starting to walk away.
Jacob suddenly found his voice as he quickly got to his feet and stumbled trying to reach you.
"WAIT! Wait, wait, Y/N please hold on!" He spoke hurriedly. Grasping for your hand and pulling you around. Hand now resting on your waist.
"I am so, so sorry. Please let me explain everything, I promise I won't lie to you anymore. I can explain everything now, just come inside and dry off." He said pleadingly, trying his best to get you to listen to him.
You thought for a moment, you didn't trust him at all but the way he was speaking you knew he was telling the truth to some extent. It was hard for him to lie to you, you know how Jacob works, you know the subtle mannerisms he has when he's not telling the truth. Considering all of this you finally speak.
"Fine, but if things don't add up or I find out you are still lying, I am gone," You say sternly, pulling his hands away from you and walking up the hill.
When you get to the house, Jacob gives you warm tea and a blanket which you take from him without a word. He comes over and sits across from you. He almost reaches for your hand but stops himself.
"The day that I left your house, something changed, I changed...." He claimed, looking at your reaction with a hint of fear but continued "This is going to sound crazy, but you have to believe me on this..... I am a werewolf"
You stared at him for a moment before throwing the blanket off and standing up, Jacob followed suit immediately. You threw him a glare before starting to walk out.
"No, No, Y/N wait!" he shouted after you, reaching out and grabbing your hand. "I am telling the truth let me show you" He spoke as he continued outside your hand still in his.
" I swear Jacob if this is a pra....."
You went dead silent as he began taking his boots, and then his shorts off. Now standing in just his underwear. He gave you a curt nod and then started bending and shaking profusely. You could barely blink before your best friend stood in front of you only he wasn't human anymore, he was a massive wolf.
You jumped back a bit as the wolf started coming towards you, noticing your fear he slowly laid down on the ground and gave out a small whine to signal he would not hurt you. You were in complete shock, how was this possible? Everything you ever heard about the stories of the Quileute tribe growing up was true, and your best friend was living proof. A thousand thoughts ran through your mind, but they were silenced by the wolf standing up and trotting to the back of the house. Jacob then emerged in different clothes than before.
"I'm sorry, but I couldn't tell you Y/N" Jacob expressed, grabbing your hands hesitantly until you leaned into the touch slightly.
"Why couldn't you tell me, you know I would never judge you, nor would I ever tell anyone " You pressed before giving him a confused stare "Wait why are you telling me now?"
He looked at you a gave you a crooked smile.
"It's one of the rules that came with the gig" He laughs a bit before pulling you a bit closer. "The reason I can tell you now is because you are my soulmate," He says beaming down at you.
You stare up at him with a bewildered expression.
"I'm your what?" you say breathing out.
"You are my imprint, Y/N. It's a wolf's soulmate, it is the reason for their existence, you feel like it isn't gravity holding you to the ground anymore, it's them. You can be anything the imprint wants you to be, a friend, a protector, a lover, all that matters is that the two are connected. Like vines on trees overlapping each other both on the same path, interlocked." He pauses, putting his hand on your face and caressing your cheek gently.
"I know this might be overwhelming and a lot to handle. I really want you to know how deeply sorry I am for everything that I said. I'm not going to sit here and blame it all on the wolf because it wasn't, I was jealous. I was jealous that you went on that date with someone that wasn't me and I didn't mean a word that I said about you. I'm going to be fully honest with you from now on, starting with the fact that I have been in love with you since the second grade. I know that trusting me will take time, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to earn it back. I understand that I have hurt you, so it might take a very long time but I will always be there for you. Everything is up to you, I understand if you want to reject the connection. The connection can be anything you want it to be, but I really truly do not want to lose you and the past two weeks without you have been hell on earth for me. I'm just really sorry Y/N." He pleads letting go of your hands and allowing you to process.
"I... I love you too Jacob. I have for a while now. I'm not going to forgive you easily but I am glad you understand how much you have hurt me. I am willing to give this a shot, mainly because I can feel the connection and would be an idiot if I said that I didn't." You laugh a bit as he looks at you with the biggest smile on his face.
"But if you ever say or do that to me again I will put you in a dog house and leave you there," You say with an evil smile laughing at the way his face drops before he joins in.
You two get out of the rain and drive separately to Emily's house where you meet the pack and they explain in much more detail what being a wolf really entails. You and Emily become quick friends, and as the days go on you slowly fall into a routine that is pure chaos but you wouldn't have it any other way. You and Jacob work on your relationship, slowly building back trust and falling deeper and deeper into love with each other. You have fully accepted your place in a world filled with wolves and life seems to be going great, that is until they tell you exactly why they turn into the big ferocious beasts....... there are vampires in Forks.

Every Baby Needs a Daddy
Part 1/?
Modern au rock star!Eddie & sugar baby!Steve; alpha!Eddie/omega!Steve
Fall was in full swing and a chill was officially in the air at all times. Most especially as the sun started to go down. Eddie was warm in his leather jacket but for a brief moment his heart went out to the guy standing outside the bar, arms bare to the wind. He was dressed in a striped polo shirt and jeans, not quite what one might see in a dive bar like this.
But he was probably waiting for someone, so Eddie went inside without another thought, catching just the smallest whiff of his scent as he walked by. An omega. He was definitely waiting for someone then. No one kept their omega idling for long. Once inside, Eddie took his shades off, the lights low enough to keep most from recognizing him.
It helped that he was flying solo tonight. No band members or bodyguards in sight. It was nice to be anonymous sometimes. Not that fame and fortune ever got tiring, it was just a good change of pace. He posted up to the bar, ordered a beer, and got comfortable. He was right in the middle of a conversation with another patron about the current season's fishing prospects when that scent washed over him again something like lavender and petrichor.
Although, when Eddie looked over, that second part might've just been the scent of actual rain. The omega from outside was sitting next to him. The tops of his shoulders and head were damp.
"Was wonderin' when you'd come in and grace us with your presence", the bartender said.
The omega simply rolled his eyes and didn't order anything. Eddie saw him shiver and without thinking, took off his jacket and placed it over his shoulders. He realized what he'd done when the other man froze.
"Sorry you just looked cold and maybe you were but I shouldn't've just done something like that I can-I can take it back", he reached out.
"No", the omega held onto the jacket. "No, it's fine. I was cold. Thank you."
"I uh, saw you outside. Boyfriend making you wait?" Eddie inwardly cringed. He meant to be more subtle than that. Meant to say something anything else.
"Don't have one." The omega got a strange look as he finally looked Eddie square in the face. "Have I...seen you somewhere before? Sorry", he shook his head and let out a breath of laughter. "What I line. I swear I'm not-I'm not trying to come on to you or anything, I just know I've seen you on like tv or something."
Eddie couldn't judge on pick up lines after what he said about a boyfriend. "You...you might've." He looked around and contemplated for just a second before he continued. "Ever heard of Corroded Coffin?"
"They're a band, right? That's where I know you from?"
Eddie grinned. "Yeah, that's where." He could tell this guy just barely recognized him and that it wasn't an act.
"God, Dustin would kill me. I can hear him now. Sorry, I'm probably not the kind of fan you like running in to."
"I'll take polite conversation over groveling any day. So do you know any of the member's names?"
"I know there's the guy Dustin likes the most because he can play drums and the bass. He admires talented people like that. And he goes on and on about this Eddie guy, but I can never remember which one-you?"
"Me, handsome", Eddie grinned. "And your name?"
"Steve. But I also answer to 'handsome'."
Steve. Eddie had to taste it on his tongue. "Steve. And were you waiting for Dustin before the rain brought you in?"
Steve smiled now, adjusting Eddie's jacket across his shoulders. "No, I wasn't really waiting for anyone. And before you ask, Dustin is definitely not my boyfriend. I'm completely untethered." Steve ran a hand through his hair, not so damp anymore after they had been talking.
"You gonna order something or keep taking up space at my bar?", the bartender asked.
"What's your poison, Steve?"
"Oh, I can't pay you back", Steve said.
"Then don't. Order something."
"I mean I really can't pay you back, Eddie. I was hanging around outside because I...because I'm between paychecks right now. And I'm not that kind of omega." Steve's shoulders hunched up in shame and he looked like he was about to remove Eddie's jacket.
"I didn't say you were. You don't have to pay me like that. I take many forms of compensation. Including sparkling dialogue with gorgeous men."
"Really?", Steve asked, voice flat in disbelief.
"Really."
Steve turned to the bartender. "Whiskey sour please."
Eddie smiled. "So, what's your opinion on farmed fish versus wild caught?"
---------------------------
Steve had been going through the worst day of his life. Work had been awful and he had wanted to scream. He ran out so quick that he forgot his jacket and was already halfway home when he remembered. He kept going. He wasn't going back there today. He got to his apartment, ready to fill his empty stomach with something only to find he was devoid of food.
Of course. He'd cleaned himself out with his last heat and hadn't gone grocery shopping since. He'd been eating out for the past week. And if he checked his bank account....
$10.43
And pay day wasn't for another three days. Steve was desperate. It was plenty of money if he went to the convenience store right outside his apartment. But the cashier there always gave him odd looks and he just didn't have the energy for it. He contemplated sending someone in to buy his stuff, but he wasn't feeling very trusting right now.
Which was how he ended up at the bar. The dollar store would've been an option last week, but it was a couple of miles away and his car was in the shop. He didn't even know what his plan was. Buy the cheapest drink and fill up on pretzels and nuts? It was why he was standing outside as the sun got lower, just feeling sorry for himself.
He just wished someone would take pity on him. Would see how hard he had been working and told him it was okay, he could take a break now and they'd take care of him.
Hell would probably freeze over first though.
Then the rain started and he couldn't waste time out here any longer. At least inside the bar, it was warm. Steve already wasn't looking forward to the walk home. What if it was still raining? He couldn't afford to get sick right now. He sat at the only empty seat at the bar and thought of the least pathetic way to ask for a cheap drink when something warm came over him.
It smelled of ginger and cinnamon and for a moment, Steve was drowning in it when he heard the owner of the jacket try to apologize for it and then take it back. Instinctively, Steve held onto it tighter.
"No, no, it's fine. I was cold. Thank you."
The alpha next to him said something about a boyfriend that Steve barely registered but figured out by context what he was asking.
"Don't have one." He shook his head and then actually looked the alpha up and down. Curly hair spilled over his shoulders and he looked smaller without the leather jacket that was currently over his own shoulders. There was something oddly familiar about him. Like he'd seen that face on his social media feed or something.
When Steve asked, he realized he was talking to a guy in Dustin's favorite band. He felt like an idiot. This guy was probably used to starstruck fans bowing at his feet and here Steve was, just treating him like a nobody. But try as he might, Steve couldn't pretend like he was some big deal, even imagining Dustin's lecture on proper celebrity sighting etiquette later didn't change things.
Then the alpha, Eddie his name was Eddie, introduced himself and then asked for his name, tacking on a compliment at the end of the question.
"Steve. But I also answer to 'handsome'." He couldn't help being a little hungry for some positive attention right now.
Then Eddie asked a very unsubtle question about Dustin, insinuating that he was some kind of boyfriend and Steve wanted to laugh. The little kid he had babysat that had been like the pain in the ass brother he never asked for definitely wasn't that. And he let Eddie know that.
"Dustin is definitely not my boyfriend. I'm completely untethered." He didn't know why he said it like that. He might as well have spread his legs and held up a sign that said 'open for business'. This guy was a literal rock star, he must have lustful groupies throwing themselves at him all the time. Wording it like that absolutely wasn't Steve intention. Even if his scent was so comforting and intoxicating.
Then the bartender urged them to order something and Steve felt his empty stomach drop. Eddie insisted on buying him a drink and Steve really wished he had the money for it because there was no way he was paying in any other way. And if Eddie was expecting that, he'd just as soon go back out into the rain, leaving the warm jacket behind.
"You don't have to pay me like that. I take many forms of compensation. Including sparkling dialogue with gorgeous men."
Steve searched his face for a bluff, any sign of dishonesty. But he saw none.
"Really?"
"Really."
So Steve ordered just as Eddie asked him something about fishing and clearly this night was not going to go the way he planned.
--------------------------
Eddie was halfway through his second drink and knee deep in a conversation about the pros and cons of fishing compared to hunting. Apparently Steve's dad took him out hunting before he presented and afterward, his grandfather took him out on a couple of fishing trips.
"One just seems more fair, is all I'm saying", Steve said, still nursing his first drink. "One has you sneaking up on an unsuspecting animal. The other one you're just luring them. Fish know what they're getting into. Deer don't until they're already in your sights."
"You think very highly of fish intelligence", Eddie noted.
"I once had a year long beef with a friend's pet fish. Long story. But fish are smarter than they look." Then Steve's stomach growled. Very loudly. Embarrassingly loud.
"I don't know about you, but all this fish talk is making me hungry", Eddie said. "Can I buy you dinner?"
"I suppose I've got about twenty bucks worth of more conversation in me", Steve smiled, appreciating what Eddie was offering.
Eddie paid the tab and Steve put his arms into the jacket, then remembered Eddie might want it since it was cold outside. "Did you want-"
"Keep it on. I run hot anyway and we just need to make it to my car." That was a lie, Eddie had the circulation of a failing newspaper but he liked the look of Steve in his jacket too much to give it up. And the rain had stopped so now it was just damp and cold outside.
Steve thought he should feel wary of getting into a car with a stranger, especially a famous one. But he had his phone on him and Eddie was taking him to a place with a lot of people, so it was fine. Eddie put his sunglasses on as they went inside and asked for a table in the back, which the person up front gladly accommodated.
"Not to toot my own horn", Eddie said as they were seated. "But I can never tell when and where I'll get recognized. And I don't want any tabloids tomorrow morning." Because right now, Steve didn't just look like some random guy that Eddie was wining and dining. Right now, he looked like he belonged to Eddie.
"Got any funny stories?", Steve asked.
Eddie grinned and rolled his shoulders as he got comfortable in his seat. "Well, there was the one time I was literally in a tv studio about to be interviewed with the band and someone thought I was the boom guy."
"If I was dressing up on Halloween as a boom guy, I think I'd put on this general look", Steve said, gesturing to Eddie's whole body.
"And there was the time I got recognized while at a fabric store. I'm standing in line, basket full of sewing supplies and a bunch of floral fabrics, and this woman in her sixties asks for my autograph."
"Aren't you in a metal band?"
"Yeah and some of our most hardcore fans are women over 40", Eddie said. "Don't underestimate 'em."
A waiter came by and took their orders and they kept talking. Steve couldn't believe how badly his day had started because now it felt like he was flying above the clouds. Eddie actually seemed interested in what he had to say. And Steve was constantly thrown by the different directions Eddie took the conversation. From fishing, to getting recognized stories, to horrible customers, to the perils of sailing a boat.
"Never?"
"I remember going once as a kid and was scared shitless the whole time", Steve said. "Whoever decided it was okay for me to watch Titanic in kindergarten really messed me up."
"So besides that one time you've never been on a boat?", Eddie asked.
"My parents tried getting me on a yacht once and I started hyperventilating on the dock. I stayed on the boardwalk", Steve said. Just one of the many ways he'd been a disappointment.
After the meal, Eddie offered to drive Steve home. He wanted to. But after drinks and food and talking to Eddie for so long about nothing at all, Steve felt cautious. Had his guard lowered? If he let Eddie see him to his door, would Eddie be expecting something? What made him even more hesitant was that he might let Eddie get away with it.
He was handsome and charming and had alleviated Steve's worries for a few hours. He was even going home with some leftovers in a box. For a second, Steve wondered if food was all it took.
"Hey, look, I understand if you don't want some strange alpha taking you home. What about if I just order you a ride?", Eddie suggested.
"You can take me home", Steve said quickly. "Just don't expect any dessert."
Before leaving, Eddie excused himself to use the restroom and Steve used that opportunity to do something that was probably really stupid. It was certainly pointless. But he could take a risk every now and then. He tore off a piece of the menu and used a pen at the podium up front and that was how Eddie found him.
"Ready to go?"
"Ready", Steve smiled.
The car ride was a little more quiet, both of them digesting both the food and what had happened tonight. Meeting a stranger that you clicked with, it didn't happen every day. Steve gave him his address and Eddie pulled up to the building.
"You should walk me up", Steve said. "Make sure I get there safe."
"Y-yeah, I can do that", Eddie stuttered, struggling with his seatbelt while Steve was already out of the car.
Eddie followed him to his apartment, glad now for the chill outside because otherwise he'd be sweating watching Steve's ass for so long as he walked in front of him.
"Well, this is me", Steve said.
"I had a great time tonight", Eddie said.
Steve laughed and ran a hand through his hair. "Can we come up with anymore first date lines?"
"Hmm, how's about I'd love to do this again soon?", Eddie smiled, leaning in a bit.
"I'd like that." Steve took Eddie's jacket off his shoulders.
"What if I want you to wear it for our next date?", Eddie asked.
"If you want me to wear this, you better scent it properly", Steve goaded.
Eddie pinned him against the door and smashed their mouths together. His jacket was trapped between their bodies. Steve let out a soft sound and brought a hand to Eddie's cheek.
"We can't go on a second date until the first one is over", Steve said when he pulled back. He curled a lock of Eddie's hair around his finger just because he couldn't help it.
"Your number?", Eddie asked, licking at Steve's lips.
"Check your jacket", Steve breathed.
Eddie didn't take his eyes off Steve as he went through his jacket pocket and found what Steve had been scribbling on earlier. It was a ripped piece of the menu. And it had Steve's number on it.

I Can Do It With a Broken Heart (Pt 2 to unrequited love)
A/n: HERE IT IS BESTIES!!! The official Pt 2 to unrequited love! I know the poll is still live but I’m impatient. So to make sure I’m still taking everyone’s votes into account there will be an alternate ending that should be posted right after this.
Read the Alt ending here, it's pretty similar in places
Read Pt 3 here
I'm still absolutely blown away by how well-received the first part was. This is going to be an ongoing series, all could be read individually but the "background" will be these two fics.
Warnings: Angst, Cursing, reader suffers from depressed thoughts

The next morning I was in Rhys office. He barely even looked up from the paper strewn over his desk before I spoke.
“I’m going back home.”
He sighed, leaning back into his chair. His eyes raked over me, “Does this have anything to do with why Azriel was so huffy this morning?” His eyebrow raised and I felt the anger I’d been trying to quell since last night rise its head up like a sleeping dragon.
“Fuck off. Let him be mad if he wants to be mad.” I snapped.
“Mad isn’t exactly how I would put it,” He paused looking at me. “What happened?” The High Lord questioned. I sighed not having the strength to recount the events from last night.
“Nothing but the inevitable.” he frowned at my non-answer but didn’t press any harder.
“I’ll miss you. We all will.” He said finally. I nodded.
“You all should visit.” Not an I’ll visit. No. If I could avoid it I would never step foot into this miserable court ever again.
I was gone by mid-morning. Mor had helped me winnow the things I wanted to take with me. What they did with the rest wasn’t any of my concern. Rhys or Feyre had bought it all for me anyways, let them decide what to do with their money.
Once I had gotten settled into my room, I hugged Mor goodbye and thanked her for her help. She just gave me a tighter hug and told me she would visit soon.
It was two weeks before I could see Helion. Two weeks of settling back into my court that I loved so dearly. He was visiting Dawn court for some trade agreement that needed to be signed. I came by every day, asking if he’d returned you. His second would just silently shake her head at me. And I would stomp back to my room like an angry babe.
Two weeks of checking before I finally saw her nod her head and I had to stop myself from running into Helions office. I had the control to at least knock on the door but not much else. I quickly shut the door behind me as he called me in.
“Sunbeam!” He called out when saw my face. “I had hoped the rumors of you moving back home were true.” He walked around the desk and gave me a brisk hug. Very out of character for him.
“You’re not an easy man to schedule an appointment with, Helion.” I smiled warmly at the High Lord of my court.
“If you wanted a piece of me, you only had to say the words and I would have come running darling.” There's the flirt I remember. I thought, rolling my eyes.
“But judging by your urgency in requesting a meeting that my second expressed to me, I’m going to assume that’s not what you wanted to see me for.”
My smile dropped as I braced myself for the question I needed to ask him.
“I need you to break a mating bond”
His mouth fell open. For once in my life, Helion was speechless. “I don’t know if I can even do that. Are you sure that’s what you want?” His eyes saw right through me. I threw my head back, a sad laugh bubbling past my lips.
“Yes. No. Gods I don’t know. I just don’t want it to hurt like this forever.” I felt treacherous tears starting to fall down my face. Helion grabbed my arms gently before I could wipe them away.
“I know you well enough to know that you don’t run away from hard things.” He held me against his chest as I really started to sob.
“Helion. Every second that I’m away from him it kills me. I’m over here dying inside over some male who only ever saw me as a second option.”
“Then he’s an idiot. But the mother still saw fit to make you two mates. Give it some more thought, you’re clearly still not fully decided. I’ll do some research to see if it’s even possible and if you still want to, I’ll be here to help.” I nodded my thanks into his shirt. He takes my head between his hands and uses his thumbs to wipe the tears still streaking down my face. He gives me a gentle kiss on the top of my head before I walk out of the room.
I sat on the decision for a month. A month of volleying back and forth. Weighting the pros and cons of my choice. I had started doing my own research through the tomes in the library I had access to. My eyes widened as I finally found the information I needed.
Picking up the book I all but sprinted to Helion’s office. I didn't bother knocking as I pushed past the door. Helion looked up from his desk and raised an eyebrow at me.
Panting, I showed him the page in the book. “Are you sure?”
“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my whole life.” I promised him. He still looked skeptical but walked around to where I stood anyway.
“I can’t say this is going to be pleasant.” He said wearily as I laid down on the couch in his study. “I’ve never heard of anyone doing this. I’ve seen rejection but this is cutting off the magic at the source.”
I looked into the males eyes, eyes I had known my whole life.
“Please. Nothing can hurt more than this already does.” Sympathy washed over his face and he leaned over me, placing a hand to each of my temples. It felt like the worst headache I had ever had in my life. My head was being split open and I heard the whimper leave my mouth. The pressure of his hands lifted slightly and I fought to get out the words. “I’m okay. Keep going.” I couldn’t open my eyes to see his face but his hands didn’t move. The pounding broke to a burning heat. I could feel the moment it snapped, I could almost picture the scissors snipping that tight string that connected us. One last fleeting rush of pure pain pushed through the bond. And then it was gone. My head was still pounding, I opened my eyes and saw Helion panted above me.
“How do you feel?” He asked, helping me into a sitting position.
“Like I have one hell of a hangover.” I pressed a hand to the bridge of my nose. Like I could squeeze out the uncomfortable feeling. “But also lighter.” My free hand going to my chest. It would take some time to adjust to this new feeling. But I could not stop the smile that spread over my face. Before Helion could say anything else, I reached up to wrap my arms around his neck.
“I can’t thank you enough.” I said into his neck. He gave a tight laugh and hugged me back.
“You should go sleep this off. Please tell me if any of the pain gets worse.” He held my face between his hands and I nodded as much as I could. I all but floated back to my room.
I fell into a familiar routine back in the Day Court. I took up my old job as a researcher. My days were spent surrounded by the massive libraries of my home court. People would come to us with questions and it was our job to use the knowledge at our disposal to find them answers. It kept me busy at the very least, but I did have to admit that I love doing it. I felt more useful here than I ever had at the Night Court. Pangs of sadness would rip through me when someone snarked in a way that made me think of Cassian. When someone would smirk and I could only picture Rhysand standing in front of me as he beat me in chess. The art was so beautiful that I longed to show Feyre if only to see that twinkle in eye as she dissected the colors and shading used.
I smiled as the pang in my chest at the thought of Azriel held no pain. It had taken me some time to get used to the emptiness in my chest, I had grown so used to the hollow feeling of the unreturned bond but this emptiness wasn’t pain but instead it was like a weight had been taken off my chest.
Someone calling my name pulled me from my musing. One of the messengers, Dia, smiled brightly up at me. “Hey sunbeam. Helion asked me to deliver this to you.” I took the golden envelope from her. I thanked her and she turned around, leaving me back to my books.
I slid my finger under the seal and pulled out the letter. He was flirty even in a letter. He had requested that I accompany him to the latest ball he was hosting. Helion, ever the charmer, even placed boxes for me to check yes or no. I giggled to myself at the juvenile nature of it, but checked yes with the quill sitting next to me.
The ball was just a few days away and I was so excited as dress after dress were brought into my room for me to try on. The one that ended up catching my eye was a floor length glossimer dress, such a pale golden color it looked almost like sunlight itself. The bottom was dyed a light pink color that flowed into it seamlessly. It took my breath away as I smoothed out the light fabric. It fit like a glove and I knew instantly this was the dress I had to wear.
My reflection looked like a stranger. My hair was pinned to one side, sweeping down over my shoulder and my back. A golden tiara was woven into loose curls. Long golden chandelier earrings studded with diamonds almost touched my shoulders. The sun had created a sultry blush on the high points of my cheeks. I looked happier than I had in years. I sensed Helion's presence in my room and caught his eyes in the floor length mirror.
He let out a low whistle and I blushed, adjusting my tiara. I walked over to him and he held out his hand for me, twirling me around dramatically when I took it. “No one will be able to take their eyes off of you, Sunbeam.” His eyes hungirly raked over me, “If you ever reconsider my offer. I would take you to bed in a heartbeat. Just say the words.” I pushed his shoulder, I didn’t doubt his words.
“Keep your pants on Helion. We have a ball to get to.”
“I’m High Lord. I can be late.” His pupils had dilated and I rolled my eyes, pushing him out the door before I linked my arm into his.
The ball was as lavish as I had expected. There was much to celebrate and this was mostly to welcome the new High Lord. Eris. Beron had finally died a few months back and Eris had officially stepped into the role with grace. The autumn court once known for its cruelty seemed to be taking a new direction and as I talked to nobility from the court, it was for the better. I had gotten to know him over the years, his frequent visits to the Night Court, plus a few flirty exchanges that I always brushed off, while he was helping us during the war softened me to him. Learning the true events of that night with Mor.
I locked eyes with Eris across the room. He had been heartbreakingly handsome when he was just High Fae but as a High Lord? His hair had grown slightly longer, just touching his shoulders. Dressed in a deep maroon suit that showed off every single one of his muscles. The permanent scowl that had been etched into his face had been replaced with a smile that radiated comfort. My feet seemed to move without deciding to. Eris kept his eyes locked onto mine as I got closer. My cheeks heated up under his intense stare.
“Hi little sunbeam,” Honeyed words wrapped around me. “Seems like you’re no longer hiding in the shadows.” He held out his hand, eyes flickering to the dance floor. I smiled up at him and gently placed my hand in his.
His touch was firm and the warmth of his power radiated off of him. He clutched my waist, pulling me flush to his front. I felt every plane of his toned body pressed against me and goosebumps broke out across my skin having nothing to do with the temperature in the room. The two of us gilded across the floor. I could feel the eyes of the room on us but I only had eyes for the male in front of me.
“If I had known you danced this good, I would have pulled you out of that miserable court a long time ago.” He spoke into the shell of my ear. “I’ll never understand what the Shadowslinger was thinking, even I could smell the mating bond on you. Plus, one look at me with those beautiful doe eyes and I would have been putty in your hands.” He nipped at my earlobe and I felt it deep in my stomach.
“Well good thing he’s not my mate anymore.” I whispered back to him, voice breathy. He responded with a kiss to my neck. All of a sudden I felt his warmth disappear. Before I could even process what had happened, I was standing half ways across the room. Eris just smirked, eyes twinkling with mischief.
“Stand down, you overgrown bat.” The High Lord said and that’s when I heard the growl from my side, caught a glimpse of wings and sapphire blue. Before another word could leave my mouth, I was being pulled out of the ballroom and outside to the balcony.
I thrashed against Azriel’s grip on my arm. His hand wrapped around my wrist tight enough to bruise.
“What the hel was that?” He yelled at me, finally letting go of my wrist.
“You had no right!” I screeched at him. Anger seethed through me. I felt my palms heat up from the light trying to escape from them. He went to grab my arm and I ripped it back from his reach. “Don’t you fucking dare.”
“Please.” Was all he said and suddenly it was like that night all over again. Me pouring my heart out and all he could say was please.
“Please what, Azriel? Is that all you know how to do, beg and plead. For what? Was breaking my heart once not enough for you.”
“Gods. What do you want me to say?” He ran his hands through his hair. He looked like he was about to lose it. Good. “Do you want to hear how I was fucking terrified. How any good thing that I had ever received had been taken away from me? That when I felt that twinge in my chest, that I knew what it meant but prayed to the gods that it wasn’t that.” I went to start in on him again. “Would hearing that I looked for you in every female I came across help us here?.”
“Stop. Just stop. I’m sure you’ve rehearsed this all before but do you actually think I’m stupid enough to believe it?” I spit out between my teeth.
“No. Gods this is coming out all wrong.” He ran a frantic hand through his hair. I clocked the shake in them “Why did you break the bond?”
I laughed at his audacity. “Why? You have the nerve to ask me why?” My voice dripped venom, “I did it because I couldn’t stand being tied to you like that. That night..” I started, he interrupted me.
“I said the most vile things I could think of. I panicked when you told me about the bond. If you could feel it too, I knew nothing good could have come from that so I pushed you away.” I shook my head, as if I could shake his words away from my ears.
“You seemed so shocked when I told you.”
His head sunk down, voice small “I was shocked because no part of me believed, believes, that I deserve you in that way.” When he stepped forward, I didn’t step away. Mind too busy catching up with his words. “Please say something. “
I turned my eyes up to look at him. Hazel eyes soft sparkling with unshed tears. I wanted to rip into him. I truly did. Some sick part of me wanted to make him hurt like he had hurt me but I know that wouldn’t fix anything here. What is done was done.
“You don’t get to do this to me. You don’t get to say all the right things and just have me forgive you. You don’t get to say that you love me after everything you did.” He sighed. Leaning his head on top of mine. I frowned at the contact, but didn’t push him away, refusing to melt into him. “Whatever your reason. You said all those things that you knew would hurt me, you said them and some part of you had to believe them.”
“I know. There isn’t a day that I don’t regret everything that I said, everything I had put you through over all those years. I took you for granted and I didn’t realize how much I loved you until you were gone. Until I felt that bond being snatched away from me” I wanted to push him back but something in me let his words sink into my bones.
“I had dreamed for so long how it would feel when I finally heard you say those words, And do you know what I feel?” His eyes glimmered with hope as I took a step away from him, out of his grasp. “Nothing. I feel nothing for you. Not anger, not contempt.” Tears slipped out of his eyes at my harsh words. “Of course I remember what it felt like before. Maybe some part of me will always love you in my own way but I’m not tied to you anymore and I have never been so thankful for something in my entire life.” He flinched like I had hit him.
“Do you really mean that?” His voice was so small it almost made me feel bad for him. Almost.
“I do.” I sucked in a heavy breath. “Look, we’ll most likely still have to see each other so I don’t want to end on a bad note. You were still one of my best friends for over a century and this doesn’t undo all of that but this,” I gesture between the two of us, “Will never be anything else but that, a friendship.” He gave me a sad smile.
“I’ll take whatever you are willing to give me.” I turned to walk away and he reached for my arm, I grabbed his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze before I walked back to the ball that was in full swing.
I weaved in between bodies easily. Finding Eris with ease. Despite being in the middle of a conversation, he stepped away the moment he sensed my presence. Not sparing a glance to the fae surrounding him.
“That’s all settled then?” He asked, giving me a once over. I nodded and took his hand again.
“I believe we were in the middle of a dance?” I pulled him against me, not realizing how much I missed the feeling of his heat against my skin. I placed my head on his chest. We didn’t so much as dance, more so swayed in place. Arms wrapped around each other. He tapped my chin with a gentle finger and I let him guide my mouth up to his. The kiss was soft and sweet, like holding your hands in front of a warm fire after a day in the cold. When I tried to deepen it, he laughed against my lips. I let out a shameless whine as he disconnected our lips. As I looked into his eyes, I felt the stirring of something familiar and for the first time, welcomed it as that hole in my chest was filled again.

Daughter's of Ms. Kim (ft. Aespa Winter)
pairing: Winter x Male Reader rating: Explicit word count: 2.8k summary: After a pool boy's rendevous with Karina, he's confronted by her sister, Winter who is eager to prove herself. tags: pool sex A/N: this is part of a series, if you'd like to read chapter one on AO3 you can find it here. there isn't really any smut in it so i didn't post it here but it sets up the series. or just feel free to read on and wing it. either way enjoy!
“Ah…! Ah…!”
High pitched moans were making their way into the hallway as a result of your actions. More specifically, of you railing into one of Ms. Kim’s daughters. The same daughter you had lusted over prior to this moment. The same daughter who apparently, had lusted over you as well. At least judging by how wet she had been when she first spread her legs for you.
At first you had been worried about one of her sisters, or even Ms. Kim herself, walking in on the pair of you but the more vocal Jimin got, the more you found that you didn’t care. If she was giving it her all, then you would too. Besides, while losing your job for leering had been an embarrassing and humiliating thought; losing your job for this was worth it.
“Jimin…fuck…”
You groaned, feeling her pussy tighten around your rod. You had thought the initial stretch had been heavenly but then you found a lack of description for the feeling of her clenching around you as you pumped inside her with a steady ready. What went beyond heavenly? And then there was that look she gave you when she glanced over her shoulder, her eyes pleading with you for more.
It was a plea you were more than willing to fulfill.
You didn’t know if this was a one off exchange or not. If you’d ever get to experience the feeling of Jimin’s pussy trying to milk you for every drop again. With that in mind you had to make sure to give her your all this time. If nothing else, it’d leave a lasting impression on her memory.
“Jimin…”
You slowly came back to the present day, the replay of that day still going vividly in your mind. You were grateful for the pool that Ms. Kim had allowed you to use today after you had finished. It meant you could have a raging hard-on under the water without worrying about anyone seeing it. Not that there had been anyone in the yard when you had jumped in to begin with. Your solitude was the reason you had allowed yourself to close your eyes and recall those memories.
“...”
With a sigh you let your shoulders sag. You still didn’t know if you’d ever get that chance again. The next day, Jimin had acted as she always did and you hadn’t had the nerve to bring the topic up on your own. You simply followed her lead and pretended like nothing had happened. Now you felt like you were at a crossroads. Maybe if you just got a chance to talk to her privately…
The sound of water moving caused your eyes to peak up. When you saw someone floating in the water five feet from you, you immediately stood straighter. Then, remembering your erection, immediately sunk back into the water.
“Minjeong…How long have you been there?”
Another one of Ms. Kim’s daughters, she was known for being aloof and quiet. Often times it seemed like she was in her on world whenever you saw her around the house. On more than a few occasions you had caught her simply…staring at you like she was now. It was a little unsettling but, well, she was gorgeous. Her pointed cat-like facial features gave her a striking visual appearance that in a lot of ways only added to the mystery of her. The only time you had talked with her was when you started the conversation. And even then she only gave you short responses.
“...Minjeong?”
Maybe she didn’t know you were given permission to be in the pool and was giving you a silent judgement. Or maybe she had caught wind of what you were hiding beneath the water. In all your speculation, you hadn’t considered what she actually said next.
“Did you fuck Jimin?”
If you had water in your mouth you would have spit it out then and there. Instead you choked on your saliva for a moment, hand going to your throat as you tried to regain your composure. Where the hell did that come from?! More importantly if she was asking you that meant Jimin hadn’t told her one way or another. Not yet at least.
“W-what? Why do you ask that?”
She was silent in response, her chin tilting downward for a moment as her eyes avoided yours. Was she being shy? After such a bold declaration?! Honestly, you hadn’t spent enough time around Minjeong to know her personality. It never crossed your mind that she was shy or had a crush on you. You had always just thought she was, well, strange. Your attention had been so focused on Jimin this summer that you likely would have never noticed even if she was overt about it. Now here she was bluntly asking you if you slept with her sister. Truth, be told, you didn’t know what to make of it but the thought of lying made you feel guilty.
Of course, it didn’t help that you were still sporting an erection from your prior thoughts.
“I, uh,” you paused trying to word it. “Yes. We slept together. It was just a one-time thing though.”
You tried and failed to hide the disappointment in your tone at that admission. No point in dwelling on idle fantasies.
Minjeong gave you a side glance at your confession, a hint of crimson coloring her pale cheeks. It wasn’t clear whether it was arousal or embarassment but suddenly you found yourself paying more attention to her, wondering what exactly was going on in her head. Admittedly, she was a little cuter when she seemed to be coy rather than staring at you from across any given room without saying a word.
“What was it like?”
”E-excuse me?”
Rather than repeat herself or explain what she meant, Minjeong glided through the water towards you. As she drew closer you suddenly remembered that you were still sporting a rather sizeable erection and drifted backwards, only for your back to bump into the edge of the pool. Despite the look of dread that was surely on your face, she continued her advance unbothered right until she was face to face with you. Her head craning up to look at you. You swallowed thickly, unsure of what to do next.
“Minjeong…?”
Wordlessly she looked down, barely making out what was standing at attention beneath the ripples of the pool. You had never known Minjeong to be described as bold in your time working for Ms. Kim but that was the only way to label her actions when she reached beneath the water and took ahold of your cock. Your body jolted suddenly, even with the contact being through your swimming trunks. For her part, Minjeong seemed to be lost in her own world. She was staring down, mouth slightly agape as if utterly fascinated by what was currently in her hand. Despite it being a confusing and bizarre experience, that didn’t stop your cock from throbbing any less in her grasp.
“It’s bigger than I thought it’d be…” she muttered, more to herself than you.
“Thanks…? I think?”
Was that a compliment? Wait – she’s thought about how big your cock was before?! This was quickly spiraling into something you had no idea how to react to. You had never looked at Minjeong in this kind of light before but it was increasingly hard not to when her hand was wrapped around your cock. It was also increasingly hard to think with a clear head. Especially, when she started to move her hand experimentally along your shaft.
“M-minjeong, someone could walk out,” you started weakly.
You gave a glance over to the patio. Currently, the only other person outside was Yizhuo, who was currently sunbathing topless – another thing that caused your cock to twitch in Minjeong’s grasp. From what you could see it looked like she had headphones on and was completely oblivious as to what her sister was currently doing to you. If Minjeong had heard any word of your concern she didn’t show it. In fact, when you turned back to look at her she was even closer to you, her nose practically brushing against yours.
“If Jimin could handle it then I can handle it,” Minjeong stated.
“I…”
As much as your mind screamed at you that this was a bad idea, that if you got caught you’d lose your job, you found your resolve already weakened. Not only because of what her hand was currently doing to your cock, but because of what had already happened between yourself and Jimin. If you were going to get fired you might as well go two-for-two on reasons to get terminated, right?
Rather than answer her verbally, you leaned forward and closed the distance between your lips and hers. As your lips moved against hers you wondered if Winter was simply stunned that you had actually kissed her. Briefly you wondered if she had ever kissed anyone best. Wait, am I taking her first kiss? The thought should have made you feel guilty, or at the very least reconsider your chosen course of action. Instead it only caused your cock to throb in her grasp.
Finally, Minjeong began to respond to the kiss. It was slow at first, tentative even. Like she was exploring and analyzing it in her mind before she finally delved in. Her lips parted, her tongue pushing into your mouth experimentally. It was a completely different experience than what you had with Jimin, which you supposed was a good thing. Her lips were suprirsingly sweet and you wondered if she had placed lip balm on them before coming to you.
Your tongue danced with hers and you deepened the kiss, the water making ripples around you. You didn’t know if Yizhuo was still unaware of what was unfolding but at that point you didn’t care. You had started this ( well, she had technically ) now you were going to see it through.
Her lithe body pressed flush against hers, one arm wrapping around her neck while the other continued to stroke your cock under the water. When she finally pulled back, she looked up at you with large eyes.
“I want it…”
“What do you want, Minjeong,” you prodded.
She briefly looked away, her cheeks tinging with a hue of red. Her stoic confidence seemed to have faltered. When she spoke it was in a low voice that you could barely hear. “...fuck….me…”
“What was that?” you couldn’t help yourself from teasing her a bit. “I couldn’t hear you.”
Finally, she looked back at you. Her eyes staring intensely at yours, “I want you to fuck me.”
Well, that didn’t leave any doubt did it?
“You want me to fuck you like I did Jimin?” you questioned, your voice lowering as you began to lift her up. You had never actually fooled around in a pool before and were relieved at how easy it was to pull her closer so her legs could wrap around you. You pulled her bikini bottoms to the side, positioning your cockhead at her entrance.
“Yes,” Minjeong said, sounding determined now. “That’s what I want.”
Fuck, there was just something alluring about the way she said that. You may have never pictured her this way before but hearing the usually reserved daughter of Ms. Kim speak such vulgar desires was the last straw you needed. You pushed forward and pulled her towards you, beginning to sheath your cock inside of her pussy.
Fuck she was tight.
Despite her arousal you struggled at first to fit your length inside her in it’s entirety. Minjeong said nothing but her body tightened around you as she bit her bottom lip.
“If you want to take it all you have to relax,” you whispered into her ear, “It’ll feel so much better, I promise.”
“So full…” she mumbled.
“There’s still more to go but you have to relax,” then another idea popped into your head, “Jimin was able to take it all.“
Your words worked as expected. Minjeong took a shaky breath before you felt her body begin to relax in your arms. Her walls still gripped your cock tightly but you didn’t feel like her body was fighting against you anymore. Instead she was slowly accepting more and more of your length as you pushed deeper inside of her warm tunnel. The resistance you felt at first was now giving way to a pleasure that was sending your mind reeling.
“You feel so fucking tight, Minjeong…” you moaned softly.
She mewled softly in your ear in response. When you finally bottomed out inside of her, your bodies pressed flush against one another, you stayed like that for a moment. You still didn’t know if this was her first time or not but you felt the need to give her a moment to adjust to your size regardless. Even if Minjeong herself would never ask for it.
“Can you kiss me again?”
Her request caught you off guard. You looked at her for a long moment, realizing there was more to the quiet sister than met the eye. Rather than give her a yes or a no you leaned forward, capturing Minjeong’s lips in a tentative embrace. This time she didn’t take as long to respond to your kiss but still kept things slow and explorative. As your lips locked, she began to move on your cock.
Fucking in the pool was a first. Or any body of water for that matter. It was different then you expected, but the weightlessness of it meant that as she grew more accustom to your size, she could begin to move easier, her slow, rhythmic pace picking up slightly. At times you were worried about making too much noise, that Yizhuo might hear the splashing of your bodies as you speared her pussy over and over again, but she never seemed phased at all. Not that you were paying her much mind, your attention was focused solely on the woman currently riding you.
“Does it feel as good as you imagined?” you questioned.
“Mhm,” Minjeong nodded her head.
“You like stealing your sister’s fuck toy, huh?” your words grew more vulgar.
She nodded her head again, biting her bottom lip as she gripped your shoulders tightly. It was almost adorable the way she was so focused on the way your length was stretching her pussy that she couldn’t even manage a proper response. That wasn’t good enough. You had given in which meant you wanted to go all the way. You needed to see the usually quiet and reserved Minjeong come undone. Gripping her waist, you smoothly swapped places, pushing her back against the wall. You gripped the edge of the pool, using it as leverage to meet her movements with hard thrusts.
“I can’t hear you,” you teased.
Immediately you were greeted with moans of pleasure as her head fell to your shoulder. That was much better. Your hips snapped roughly, shoving your cock inside of her as her sex quivered around you; squeezing around your length each time you filled her hole. The usually quiet Minjeong had become a mess of sounds as you fucked her against the edge of the pool
“Aaah~ ah~ mmh~” her fingers dug into your back, any sense of forming a sentence completely gone from her.
You didn’t care if Yizhuo noticed the excessive splashing created from your union at this point. Hell, Ms. Kim herself could walk out and you wouldn’t care. If Jimin walked out on the other hand…Your cock swelled inside of Minjeong at the thought. The image of Jimin watching you ravish her shamelessly as she cried out your name. Another image flashed through your mind, one of Jimin massaging your balls while Minjeong serviced your cock with her lips.
As fantasies in your mind mixed with the pleasures of reality, you felt the body clinging to you begin to shudder. Minjeong let out a cry of pleasure as her orgasm tore through her body. Her walls tightened around you, seemingly intent on dragging you over the edge with her; impluring you to spill your seed inside of her.
“Fuck!” she swore.
It might’ve been the first time you had actually heard her swear, let alone that loudly. That fact triggered something inside of you. It had you gripping the ceramic edges of the pool for dear life with one hand while the other wrapped around her slender waist, burying your length to the hilt as your pleasure finally erupted with a roar. It was incredible, scintillating even. Honestly, your mind simply went blank for a long moment with no thoughts or concerns. Judging by the way Minjeong was currently slumped against yours, she was in a similar state of exhausted euphoria.
The only sound that reached your ears was the slow settling of water and the heavy pants of your mingled breaths until finally she spoke up.
“How did that compare to my sister?”
You could only let out a sound of disbelief as you floated in the water. There was something wrong with Minjeong and her competitive streak – or was it jealousy? Whatever the case a part of you was starting to like it. There was certainly no way you’d look at her the same after today.

Last Kiss | Theodore Nott x Fem. Hufflepuff Reader
•Summary: After one year of relationship, Theo breaks up with you, not telling you why. Sad, you walk up to the camp of daisies you both once walked by, and remember everything you and Theo went through.
•Song: Last Kiss, by Taylor Swift.
•Requested by: @sweetestdolan
You and Theo started to date one year ago. Your friends told you that it wasn't a good idea, since he was a slytherin, but you never judged him and he never judge you. One day, he simply comes up to your dorm, hands in his pockets, and murmurs:
"I want to break up." you look at him, not knowing if he was serious or not.
"What? Is this a joke?" you asked, trying to not think about the worst.
"No. Y/n, I'm really sorry. This is not about you, I just can't be with you." he answered sadly, looking at you.
The tears started to appear, but you wouldn't let them come out now.
"You're kidding, right? Did I do something wrong...? Tell me, I can fix it!"
"You did nothing wrong—" you interrupted him.
"Then why are you breaking up with me? Theo, I cannot do this without you!" you took a few steps near him.
"I'm sorry." and with this, he leaves your dorm and you fall onto your bed, allowing finally your tears to fall.
That's what happened that made you never look the same again. One month had passed since he broke up with you, and you still didn't got over, but he did. He already had his arm wrapped around a brand new girl.
When you noticed, you were walking around the camp of daisies, remembering everything that happened in here. This was your spot, until Theo found it. He started to come here often, since he knew you'd be here. Your first kiss was here, just like your last.
Taking slow steps, you ended up at the tree, your tree. You sat just underneath her, and let all of your memories with Theo appear slowly. A memorie of when you and him were on his dorm, in the middle of the night, having a conversation about a random topic. That was the first time he said he loved you. You even remembered the hour, 01:58AM.
Or like that one time he made you go to a party and invited you to dance with him, even though he knew you didn't dance.
"Come on, let's dance" he said smiling at you, grabbing your hand softly.
"You know I don't dance" you giggle.
"Come on!" he asked again and lead you to the center of the dance floor.
You rolled your eyes and he started to slowly dance with you. After a few seconds, you gave up and started to dance together with him, not caring about the others, which was a problem to you. You laughed and you danced a lot that night.
Or the thousands of memories when you were talking with him about how insecure you felt about yourself or any other type of things and he just kissed you as a way to shut you up. And there is not a day you don't miss those rude interruptions.
You took a deep breath, whipping all the tears that insisted on rolling down your cheeks. You needed to get over. You had to stop seeing his life in pictures, like you used to watch him peacefully sleeping when you had insomnias, or ask his friends how he's doing.
Right now, on this beautiful day, when the sun shines, you wish he had stayed. The truth is, you always thought he wouldn't change his mind.
You finally get up, after several minutes sat down on the grass full of daisies, and start to walk your way back to the castle. You made two promises to yourself: you would get over Theo, and you would never see this camp again. Somehow, it reminded you of him. And if you wanted to get over, you needed this.
Taking a deep breath, you enter the castle and start this new journey of getting over.

Touch | Part Two
Words: 2.7k
Part One | Series Masterlist | Part Three |
You have no intention of messing with the stability you have discovered in Jackson. But whatever higher power is still up there twenty years after the end of the world has other plans.
Warnings: slow burn, post-outbreak, Joel Miller is a grump and a menace, no use of y/n, eventual smut but not in this chapter, I still have no idea how many parts this will be but I’m feeling six maybe?
Maria’s words ringing in your ears, you resolved to stay away from Joel and his not-quite-adopted daughter. Having become accustomed to defending the things that mattered to you, you found yourself protective of this little community your dad would have dismissed as communist had he had the chance to see and unfairly judge it. Sleeping without your boots on, your feet rubbing over the bare cotton tucked up in blankets, had been a pleasure you had finally remembered how to enjoy.
Marla, though. Marla has always had a flare for the dramatic and surprisingly poor judgement for someone who has lived this long through the end of the world. She was a literal child on outbreak day, as opposed to your wisened 16 years, and you suspected she may have stopped developing around that point. Her complete lack of maturity, her ability to wonder blindly into abject terror just to unblinkingly fight her way out of it, was endearing so long as there weren’t clickers on the edge of the tree line. She had decided your tendency to isolate was ‘making you weird’ and every lunch time for the last four days had arrived on your front step to march you down to the mess hall. You suspected the real reason was to check out the newcomers, under the cover of altruism. You respected her tenacity, even as you resented her for it.
Four and a half days into her crusade to integrate you into any available social group, she waved a spoon in front of your face.
‘This is no good,’ she assessed, gesturing to your eyes, then your bottom lip. You sucked it in between your teeth and reminded yourself she had been the one hauling you over the sides of mountains to get you here.
‘Be more specific,’ you said and she grinned.
‘You don’t smile when you’re in here, your eyes go all squinty,’ she observed.
You felt something click in your jaw and you reached up to push hard on the condyle, the masseter tight as a bow string.
‘Just so many people,’ you said, pushing your stew around in your bowl. ‘It doesn’t make you nervous?’
‘I go through that gate most days of the week,’ Marla replied, her tone passive but somehow assuring. ‘The way Tommy runs it, no-one’s getting through that check point with anything less than a Nobel peace prize.’
Out of the corner of your eye you watched as Joel offered his left overs to his daughter, the two of them sitting alone at the end of a nevertheless crowded table. He sat hunched, favouring his right side, his arm tucked in hard against his ribs. If he leant too far over in the wrong direction he grimaced, and you noticed this all in the fleeting glances you allowed yourself while Marla forced you to ingest first your stew, and then her gossip.
‘What do you know about them?’ you asked, cringing when Marla turned her full body to peer in their direction. It wouldn’t have surprised you if she pulled binoculars out of her cargo pants to get a better look.
‘Him and Tommy spent a lot of time apart, when Tommy was a firefly.’
You sucked air into your lungs, sure for a moment they had just collapsed.
‘He’s not anymore, not for a long time,’ Marla defended. ‘He didn’t…he doesn’t follow their philosophy.’
‘You’ve been talking to Maria,’ you observed. She started plucking at the skin around her fingernails. You smiled at her, warmth in your voice. ‘Ray not the only one doing reconnaissance?’ And you rolled your r for dramatic effect, and because sometimes you could be quite funny, actually.
Marla grinned, busted. ‘It’s. It’s important for me to know, when I’m on patrol it’s about protecting? People? So I need to know about…the people.’ You wanted to give her a standing ovation, the bullshit was so exceptional. Instead you lifted a hand to her shoulder, sent affection down your arm and under your palm, where you hoped you deposited it into her muscle.
‘Maria’s not a fan,’ you said, and watched Marla acknowledge this fact, then make her way around it.
‘He’s different to Tommy, I guess. She’s made her preferences clear.’
You let that sit for a second. You thought about telling her what Maria had said, keeping his daughter in the dark, but you felt a need to keep the seed unwatered, not to throw it any fertile ground.
‘He’s hot,’ you confirmed, simply, and she blushed.
‘He is though?’ She grinned. ‘I’m going to ask Tommy to swing him onto my patrol.’
‘He patrols?’ You asked, alarmed, noting again the way he was so stiff on his right side as he pushed his chair back behind him.
‘He’s a protector,’ she replied, and you both watched as he stood from the table, waited for his daughter to follow, then shuffled off alone and away. ‘Like me,’ Marla finished, reaching for your unfinished stew.
—
You knew, in this new world you all now made the best of, that curiosity was a dangerous thing. Remembered the young boy from two apartments down who wanted to see the sun fully set without dipping behind walls. The girl who thought the FEDRA soldier with warm green eyes might have been a softie under all the armour, all the hardship. The kid who wanted to understand why the fence was humming, and put his hand out to see what would happen. Curiosity was a dangerous, tricky, deceitful thing in a world already lousy with nasty surprises. You kept your head down and your mouth shut, and it had got you this far. You would have to be perfectly happy not knowing anything about Tommy’s older possibly homicidal but kind of limpy on one side brother. That was your plan.
It, too, failed almost immediately. It wasn’t fate or divine intervention that delivered him to you, it was Tommy, on your front porch with Joel over his shoulder, Tommy’s smile bright and benevolent and Joel’s grimace trained solely on your doorstep.
‘Evening’, Tommy said, and not for the first time you imagined him in a cowboy hat just so he could dip it to you like a gentleman. ‘You met my brother?’
You shook your head, having apparently swallowed glue sometime between opening the door and this moment.
‘He’s grumpy and he’s hurt,’ Tommy continued, undeterred by his older brother’s scoff of disapproval. ‘Not necessarily in that order.’
‘Hurt how?’ you asked, stepping forward before remembering yourself and immediately stepping back.
‘Not hurt at all,’ Joel said, and his voice was so much softer than you imagined, a gentle rumble, that carried with it years of struggle. You tried with every atom on your skin to stop the goosebumps. Failed.
‘Not recent, but acting up. The cold. The walkin’ Tommy continued. ‘Maria said you work miracles, so thought I’d give you the devil’n see what you can do.’
You smiled at Maria’s assessment, wanting to ask after her but sensing from the pure recalcitrance leeching off Joel that it would be the thing that finally made him turn and march home.
Instead you stepped aside, gesturing into the warmth of your home. Tommy smiled again, whacked Joel on the shoulder and down your front steps. ‘Behave,’ he called out behind him, to which his brother very purposefully did not respond.
You realised as soon as he was in it that your house suited Joel. It was a little shabby, a lot rough around the edges, but it smelt like warm wood and furniture oil and you’d tried to keep things ordered for the sake of appearances. He stopped in the entryway, his eyes swivelling from your lounge room to the bedroom doors, and you stepped forward and around him to get to your treatment room. ‘In here,’ you said, and turned your back so you wouldn’t see if he’d rolled his eyes at you. You felt him approach behind you, heard a floorboard creak as if it sang just for him, and held your breath.
‘The hell is that?’ he asked, and you turned to see him pointing at your apocalyptic massage table.
‘You get in the middle, the towels hold you up,’ you said, seeing it now through his eyes and dying inside, just a little.
‘Ain’t getting on that,’ he said, plainly. ‘Thing’ll collapse and take us both with it.’
You sighed. He was hot but he was also annoying. He was a perfect match for Marla.
‘You haven’t even said where you’re hurt,’ you said, and he stopped you.
‘Ain’t hurt.’
‘Where Tommy thinks you’re hurt,’ you said. You watched him cock his knee out to the side, shifting his weight to one leg and standing with his hands on his hips. He seemed bigger than the room could possibly withstand. His jaw tensed as he thought.
‘Shoulder,’ he said eventually, having apparently assessed that divulging this information wouldn’t likely result in instant death.
‘I can do your shoulder in a chair,’ you offered, and immediately regretted your choice of words. He raised his eyebrow.
‘Chair any less collapsible?’ he asked.
‘Not at all. But you’ll have less distance to fall,’ you said, and his eyes sparkled ever so slightly when he laughed.
Except that the kitchen was smaller than your treatment room and somehow you’d never noticed it, and with the table and chairs in the centre of the room suddenly it felt like Joel took up all the space. You contemplated this as he shuffled around you, how Maria at nearly eight months gone could feel petite in comparison. You realised you hadn’t seen her at the mess hall for a few days, that you should check on her.
‘I gotta take my shirt off?’ Joel muttered, with his back turned to you. When you didn’t immediately answer he turned to look at you over his shoulder, and where you thought you’d see ridicule you saw only a guarded vulnerability. For a second. Before he turned away.
‘Have you never had a massage?’ you asked, and he sat heavy down on the chair.
‘Not really my thing,’ he said, in such a way that did not engender any follow up questions.
‘You don’t have to take it off’, you said. ‘Whatever you’re more comfortable with.’
You realised then he had already decided, settled as he was with his back to you and his hands resting in his lap. He closed his eyes, almost as though he was bracing himself.
‘Go on then,’ he said.
You glanced at the ceiling. Events of the last twenty years already had you pretty much convinced there was no higher power, but in this moment you appealed to it, regardless. You had no idea what had your heart racing so fast. You flexed your fingers to try and get them to steady before you touched him.
His right shoulder was indeed tight, but you knew almost immediately that wasn’t where the pain was coming from. Over his flannel you felt along the clavicle, up to the back of his neck, swept down across his scapula. When you reached further, down towards his waist, he shifted, clearing his throat. You pulled back.
‘Said shoulder,’ he said. At this you rolled your eyes, finally having enough of the man who you were helping for free being gruff in your own kitchen. At least Maria made you tea when she came over.
‘It’s all connected,’ you said, prodding perhaps a little more roughly at his deltoid. ‘You need to think of your body like a series of links in a chain. One gets weak and the rest of them up and down from it have to compensate.’
‘Mmm,’ he replied, and you weren’t sure how but he made it sound dismissive. You felt heat on your cheeks.
‘The shoulder doesn’t just mean here,’ you said, putting your hand on the expanse of his shoulder blade. ‘Shoulder pain can be neck, jaw, back.’
‘You go to school for this?’ He asked, changing the subject.
‘I did yeah, before… Before.’
You took a step closer, repositioning yourself so that you could take his wrist in your hand and hold his arm forward, over his chest. With your other hand you pushed into the rhomboid, felt the push back of the muscle as it fought you to release.
You realised, after several seconds of holding him, that you were basically hugging him from behind. You wondered if he could feel your breath on the back of his neck. You wondered if he liked it. This close you could smell the soap he used, the sweat on the back of his neck mingling with the warmth of his cotton shirt. You released him, tension now effectively transferred from his body to yours, and he let out a long exhale.
‘You favour this side,’ you said, before you’d really thought about it.
‘Do I?’ He asked. ‘You notice things like that?’ In that moment you were glad to be behind him, so that he couldn’t see the blush storming up your cheeks.
You set upon his trapezius, then, digging your fingers into his flesh, found it more pliable than his shoulder. You heard his sharp intake of breath.
‘Tender?’ you asked, but he didn’t answer other than to grunt. You continued, suddenly realising you were dangerously close to running your hands through his hair and worse, wanting to.
He hissed then, and you stopped. ‘Sorry,’ you said, automatically, and he pushed your hand away, but not unkindly.
‘Was carrying some wood on it,’ he said, reaching up himself to poke and prod at the tender spot. ‘Tommy was there, saw me tryin’ta be a hero. Called me out on it, said I don’t know my age.’
‘Sure you weren’t showing off for the sake of your little brother?’ you asked. He grinned.
‘Not for him, but maybe for the other guys gathered round helpin’.
You put your hand on his left shoulder as you came around in front of him, pushing the table out of the way with your hip as you went. ‘Here, I just need to…’ you said, as he pushed his chair backwards to make space for you, and you used his good shoulder as an anchor when you pivoted to turn back towards him. He looked up at you, big brown eyes underneath arching brows. You saw his hands lift from his lap as if to steady you, as if to grab you by the hips and grind you down on his cock.
You swallowed. Took a second to wonder where that had come from, before you lifted your hands to his right arm and folded it again in front of him. ‘Just need to get a better angle,’ you explained, almost under your breath now that you were facing him, and he nodded quickly at you. For a moment he just gazed up at you, and you felt more naked than if he had stripped you down right there in your kitchen. You felt relief when he closed his eyes.
‘So when you say carrying some wood…’
‘Three planks, not heavy just awkward. Used to be able to do it easy.’
You cupped his trapezius, easier to get to from the front, and gently lifted the muscle up with a squeeze. Close to him like this, his face level with your chest, you felt more than heard the rush of his air as he gasped. His eyes flew open and shot straight to yours, his mouth dropping open in surprise.
You wanted to lean down and suck on his bottom lip. You felt the tremble return to your hands. A synapse, firing off randomly somewhere behind your earlobe, reminded you when the client was in pain to keep them talking. You swallowed twenty years worth of ache, and cleared your throat.
‘You a carpenter?’ you asked, and for some reason thought of Jesus, and of Joel wrapped in a loin cloth, and of nailing yourself to the cross if you couldn’t fucking get your shit together.
‘I was a contractor,’ he said, closing his eyes now that you were no longer actively torturing him.
‘What are you now?’ you asked, feeling a click under your fingers as the joint finally settled. He exhaled, the relief causing him to finally relax just a little, his whole frame leaning forward toward you, such that you worried his head would collide with your breast.
‘Old,’ he said, after a beat.
‘All fixed,’ you said, taking a step back and colliding inelegantly with the kitchen table. Later, after you’d refused any and all payment and he had promised to owe you a favour regardless, after you’d walked him to the front door and shown him out, after you’d gone into your treatment room and stood staring at your massage table as if it had any answers, you went and stood in the doorway to your kitchen. The table was still askew, the other chairs dangerously close to scuffing the walls. Your gaze lingered, though, on the chair where he had just been. You found yourself reluctant to move it, wanting to sit down in it to try and keep his warmth. You laughed at yourself, wondered what Marla would say, tried to practice how you could tell her the story at lunch tomorrow.
You flicked the light off before you went to bed. You’d move the chair back tomorrow. Maybe.

100 Followers Event: Villainess Au ft. Riddle Rosehearts x F!reader
Masterlist Kofi Account
A/N: If you saw my Lilia post about this Au, I'll also be making the character's pov as best as I can lol. Anyway, enjoy this riddle fic.
___
You do not remember who you were before, but you were sure you've read about this world in a different place and time. You look beside you to see Riddle, your fiancé. His eyes ever so diligent skims over the text in each page. He was too distracted that you started to openly stare at him.
"Is there something wrong?" His blue eyes met yours, and at the sight of the rarest color in nature snap you out of your trance. Beside his bed, there was a mirror standing on the right. It was facing you, and only then did you realize that you were frowning.
You wave your hands in front of your face. The action making Riddle's eyes go wide as saucers. You immediately think of an excuse to say, "The potted plant on your left... is wilting! I do not like it when plants are not cared for. A rose should be bright red not brown."
"Oh... I'm sorry. I've been following the instructions in the book, but over the days it just kept deteriorating. I'll find a way to bring back its color," he says meekly.
Looking at the kid's face, you knew you have said the wrong thing. He looks like he was just about to cry. You shifted to the side. From what you remember from your robbed memories, he was terrifying after ascending of age. Meanwhile, you were an uptight lady, someone that has the same views as his mother that will eventually die early someday. You gasp out loud. This was no good.
"Your highness are you alright?" he moves a little bit to examine you. You turn around, and suddenly both of your faces were in a close approximate. His cheeks brighten red. When he about to speak, you place a finger on his lips.
"I am quite well. You know what?" You slide the books on the table and reach for the potted rose to place it on the middle. "While it is important that you know how to handle a plant, sometimes you just need love to nourish it." You pointed to the soil. It was damp, indicating that he hasn't been neglecting it. "Hm... well, look at this new bud that sprout out of its stem. See that you take care of it this one with love."
"Yes... your highness. I promise."
"Riddle," immediately he became your focal point. "You should just call me by name when were alone. Wait... how about this? What do you think of using this as a promise tool?"
"A promise... tool?"
You place the potted rose between you, "Riddle Rosehearts, I pledge that until this stem keeps producing beautiful roses, I will stay by your side!"
"Uhm..."
"You grab his hands, "I won't force you to make a promise right now. You can even keep it a secret. I know that you will fulfill it, nonetheless."
____
"Riddle, take this," you gave him a white handkerchief. Each of its sides were embroidered with two roses— one was white, and one was red. "Think of it as a blessing from me."
Years have passed, and you were glad that you were able to retain a good relationship with him. You don't know how the plot will exactly play out, but you hope that from his trust will be the key for you to avoid the trial room, with him as the judge for your fate.
"Isn't this a custom meant for knights? I am not going to war—"
"But you will still be away. You're going abroad to study, and it isn't like before that you'll just be gone for a few days. You'll be away in another country for years."
He did not say anything.
"I made it myself for you. We can exchange letters, but I promise that I'll always be by your side, so accept it!" you insisted, pushing it to his hands.
"You did not even see the state of the rose for years."
"I know that you are still taking care of it. Otherwise, you would have already push me away."
He sighs, safely hiding your gift in his pocket, "I appreciate the gesture, but did you really have to give it here?" he raises one eyebrow at your unkempt appearance and muddy dress.
"It's either this or I won't be able to give it to you. I didn't find the right time to hand it out," you retorted.
"The schedule of when I will depart has been given to you few months prior. There were plenty of right time."
"I might have procrastinated a little bit, heh," you smile awkwardly, raising the sides of your dress to walk to a cemented path avoiding his gaze.
"What about this morning when you have given me your goodbyes?"
"I was embarrassed. There were so many people. and our family members were there too."
"Did it not occur to you that it more embarrassing to see the royal heir running about, competing with a horse? Even your garments are ruined," there was a small frown on his face. He reaches out to the carriage door and opened it. You thought he was going to leave you here, but he stayed behind the door, extending his hands to the entrance and you.
"Huh?" you look at him dumbfound.
"Get in. I am not leaving until your disheveled appearance is fix."

𝐌𝐘 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑'𝐒 𝐆𝐈𝐑𝐋𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃 [𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐄] — 𝐉𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐄 𝐓𝐀𝐘𝐋𝐎𝐑
one / two / four / masterlist / wattpad
summary: you find out the reason why Jeff cheated, you and Jackie start to spend more time together and a familiar face makes a return...
warning/s: mentions of cheating.
author's note: here’s part 3! glad you’re all enjoying this one and sorry it’s posted a bit late, i’ve been fasting so time has been a whirlwind lately lmao
After reconciling with Jackie, our relationship returned to normal, or at least as normal as it could be now that she wasn't dating my brother.
Whenever we saw each other around, she'd smile or greet me, and I her. We'd make small talk every now and then, and I accepted that this was how it would be from now on. There was no need for her to make an effort with me anymore, as sad as that was.
One day after school, I was practicing with the Music teacher and school orchestra for the school play that was happening next month. It was relatively new, but I was enjoying it. Afterwards, as I was walking to my car, I noticed the Yellowjackets leaving the field and heading in the same direction. That was where I saw Jackie, chatting with Taissa but waving at me when she saw me. By chance, we fell into step with one another.
"Hey," I said with a smile, before glancing at Taissa. "Hey, Tai, how are you?"
"Good, just tired from practice," she said, returning my smile. "You?"
"Band rehearsal," I answered, motioning to the guitar case on my back. "Tired too."
She snickered. "Nice." Then she looked to Jackie and added, "Wanna give me your bag and I'll meet you at my car?"
"Thanks, Tai," Jackie said to her, before she jogged off to the parking lot to throw their bags in. Her attention returned to me as she said, "So, band rehearsal?"
"It's for the school play," I clarified.
"You? Acting?" she teased, and I rolled my eyes playfully.
"Hilarious," I said, shooting her a look. "I'm in the orchestra."
"Ah, that makes more sense," she played along. "Though seeing you up on stage in some Shakespearean garb would've been quite the sight."
"You wish," I mumbled, making her laugh. "So, how was practice?"
She shrugged. "Not bad."
But judging by the sideways glance she gave to Shauna, who was walking to her car also, I knew things weren't great.
"Everything still weird?" I asked sympathetically.
Jackie sighed, pushing her hair behind her ear. "Yeah. How could it not be? I lost my best friend and boyfriend in one fell swoop." I frowned, unsure what to say to make her feel better, but she shook her head and tried to change the subject. "It doesn't matter anyway."
"It does," I said softly.
"It's just awkward at practice now," she admitted. "And it's not supposed to be. I'm the captain and I can't even look Shauna in the eye. I'm still upset, but what can I do? I have to get over it for the team."
If Jeff hadn't gone about this the way he did, none of this would be happening. Would he have done something different if he knew the repercussions of his actions?
"I'm sorry," I said, smiling sadly. "I wish I could help somehow."
She relaxed her shoulders and gave me a small smile. "You are."
I disagreed, but she was stubborn, so I didn't comment.
"Anyway, I'm tired from practice now, but we haven't had a proper catch up since...," she started, but paused, unsure how to mention the cheating thing. "Yeah. Do you want to come 'round to mine tomorrow?"
My eyebrows raised, not expecting her to say that. And as much as I wanted to accept, I couldn't tomorrow.
"Not to sound like a nerd, but I have homework," I said with a slight chuckle.
"Oh, I can help," she offered, before smiling cockily. "I've done it all before, remember?" I laughed at her eagerness, and her amusement was replaced with sincerity as she continued, "Just because Jeff isn't in my life now, doesn't mean you don't have to be. I'm still here for you, y'know."
Hearing her say this warmed my heart and put any doubts I had about our relationship to rest. Maybe I wasn't just Jeff's little sister after all.
"I know," I confirmed. "I'm happy to stop by tomorrow. Thanks, Jackie."
She flashed me a smile, and I tried not to get distracted by how beautiful she was. Jeff was pretty stupid, wasn't he?
—
As time went on between Jackie and I, it felt like we actually became friends and not just circumstantial acquaintances. I tried my best to be there for her, both because I wanted to be and also because it felt right after my brother was the reason for her hurt. She never visited my place because Jeff lived there and she didn't want to see him, so I'd stop by hers if we hung out outside of school.
She never spoke more on the Shauna/Jeff situation, even when I knew she hadn't properly talked to either of them since finding out. Despite it all, I knew she missed Shauna, her best friend, but it was all still fresh and I just guessed she was bottling it away for now. I wondered how long she'd last like that – maybe forever – until she finally broke.
A few weeks later, a month after they'd broken up, I was watching a Yellowjackets game with Jeff at school. As always, they'd dominated the game with a 3-0 advantage and the crowd were on the pitch celebrating in no time. My plan was to congratulate Jackie, glad she'd worked on whatever problems had been developing in practice, when I noticed Jeff had wandered off in a different direction. I didn't really pay him much attention as I scanned the pitch for Jackie.
"Jackie!" I called over the noise of the crowd when I spotted her.
She wasn't looking at me, her expression dropping as she looked right past me. I followed her gaze, realising she was staring at Jeff who was hugging Shauna. I raised my brows with surprise, not realising they'd made it official now, and then he kissed her and she let him and I didn't know what to think. It felt inappropriate considering everything, but they didn't seem to care. Maybe they'd deemed a month long enough before going public.
I looked back to Jackie, whose jaw was clenched as she glared at them, and then before I could go to her, she stormed off angrily. I cursed inwardly, glancing at Jeff and Shauna once more – they hadn't noticed, too enamoured by one another.
Following after Jackie, I ran off the pitch and saw a streak of blonde heading back into the school. Worried, I chased after her, catching sight of her running down the hall.
"Jackie, wait up!" I called after her, breathless. Geez, was I really this unfit?
She kept running, going to the locker room and slamming the door behind her. I sighed, letting myself in, and she spun around at my entry. Tears were streaming down her face and she hastily attempted to wipe them away, making my chest hurt.
"What is it?" she asked calmly, though her hands were shaking.
I frowned. "I didn't know he was... seeing her now."
Feigning indifference, she said, "What does it matter? Obviously it was going to happen. They didn't fucking cheat for nothing, right?"
"Not so soon though."
She smiled bitterly, squeezing her hand into a fist as she tried to collect herself. But the tears were welling in her eyes again, and then she suddenly punched the locker angrily.
"Fuck him!" she yelled, startling me, before hitting the locker again. "Why does he get to be happy when I'm not?! How is that fair when he did the bad thing?!"
I let her calm down, figuring she needed to get her frustration out somehow, and then she frowned to herself, lips trembling.
"It's not," I agreed. "You're right."
She hugged herself, tears rolling down her cheeks silently. "If I'd just slept with him, if I hadn't waited, maybe he'd...," she began to mumble to herself, but stopped.
I was both grossed out and furious when I heard this. I'd never known the reason for their breakups, but this wasn't what I'd expected. And now Jeff had got what he wanted whilst Jackie was left to question everything. God, if I wasn't annoyed at him before, I definitely was now.
"No," I told her, irritated, but at my idiot brother. "That's not the right way to think. What he did was horrible. Whether or not that was the reason, he shouldn't have cheated. He's a coward, Jackie, and you shouldn't be here upset thinking about what ifs."
She shook her head, voice stuck in her throat, and then looked at me with glistening eyes. It broke my heart, seeing a usually confident and sure-of-herself girl broken at the hands of some guy.
"Oh, Jackie," I said sympathetically, stepping forward to hug her.
She fell into my arms, hiding her head in my shoulder and sniffling quietly. I didn't let go, one arm around her as the other rubbed circles on her back.
"You deserved better than him anyway," I told her quietly, lips moving against her hair. "I love him, he's my brother, but it wasn't right what he did."
She didn't reply, but she didn't make a move to leave either, so we stayed like that until I led her to the bench between the lockers, still entwined. Her sniffling lessened and the wet spot on my shoulder grew cold when she finally pulled back; her hand found mine and she didn't let go.
"Thank you," her voice came out as an unintentional whisper, making her clear her throat. "Things have just been so hard. Shauna was my person, and I'm just– I'm so hurt by her actions."
"I can imagine," I said, squeezing her hand gently. After a pause, eyes taking in her red, swollen ones with concern, I asked, "D'you think you'd ever forgive her?"
She exhaled shakily. "I don't know."
I nodded, waiting for her to take a breath. She let go of my hand finally, wiping away the remaining tears on her face before growing embarrassed.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to cry on you," she apologised. "You definitely didn't sign up for this."
"It's alright," I assured her. "I'm just worried about you."
She looked down at her hands, knuckles red from punching the locker. "All that talk about me being there for you and, really, it was me who needed you."
I cracked a small smile in an attempt to lighten the mood. "Well, the extent of your support was tutoring me in French, and you're shit at that. Pas bon du tout (not good at all)."
She let out a laugh, and it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. Making her laugh after she'd just cried, admiring the way her eyes glistened with tears but in a way that made them sparkle because of her momentary happiness... I'd never seen anything like it.
"I'm gonna pretend I understood that," she spoke with a raspy voice, before hugging me once more.
"C'mon," I encouraged, standing up and pulling her with me. "This isn't how you should be celebrating your victory. You're the team captain for crying out loud!" She smiled, and I continued, "Don't you usually go to those after parties?"
She pushed her fringe from her eyes. "I'm not really in the mood. Shauna and Jeff will probably be there...”
"Okay, how about celebrating with the girls?" I asked, not wanting to upset her so quickly.
Judging from her expression, I knew they'd be at the party too, so that was out. I pursed my lips, trying to think of a way to cheer her up, and then decided to just do it myself.
"Right, get ready and then meet me outside," I instructed.
"What?"
I was already heading to the door as I answered, "I'm taking you out. My treat."
She tilted her head, giving me a knowing look. "You don't have to do that."
I shrugged. "I want to."
She sighed deeply, smile curving on her lips gratefully.
As promised, I took Jackie out that evening, treating her to some ice cream at the fancy parlour in town and buying her whatever she liked. We talked about everything and anything, and I hoped that, for at least a moment, she could forget all about Jeff and Shauna.
—
It took a while after Jeff and Shauna had gone public with their relationship for Jackie to finally accept it and try to move on. Personally, I don't think I could have had it in me to be the bigger person, but when Jackie came to me telling me she wanted to clear the air with them, I knew she'd made up her mind.
Ultimately, it was her choice and I was happy that she finally felt like she was in a place where she could move on. Whatever she'd said to them had done wonders for her, as she no longer avoided my house anymore when she wanted to hang out, and I sometimes saw her talking to Shauna without staring daggers into the side of her head. It was progress I never thought I'd see.
Shortly after that, Shauna brought it upon herself to try and fix things with me. We'd never talked much before, but since she was Jeff's new girlfriend, she must have felt she needed to make things right. That was one awkward conversation, and I was still upset at her for how she'd handled the situation, but I knew that if Jackie could forgive her, then so could I.
So, that was how everything had settled into a new 'normal'. My friendship with Jackie had grown stronger and I was on somewhat good terms with my brother and Shauna, and I guess that was all I could need right now. Of course, that didn't change the fact that I still had a massive crush on Jackie, and anytime she'd show any interest in me, I grew flustered.
Take this one time when she was sat in the school theatre, waiting for me to finish up practice for the school play after school. It was in two weeks and we were doing final run-throughs with the music and acting together. Jackie was only here because we had plans to grab food afterwards, since she'd finished soccer practice today too.
After what felt like forever, the Drama teacher finally dismissed us all and I joined Jackie by the exit.
"That was actually pretty good," she said when she saw me, nodding to the stage where the other students were finishing up.
"It's not a bad play," I said with a shrug, before shouldering my guitar case. "You planning to get tickets?"
At this, she looked to me with a smirk. "Well, of course. Gotta support you, right?"
She was teasing me and I began to grow warm at the way she was staring at me, and then she was grinning at my reaction and I avoided her stare. Times like these were when I really wished I could get over her.
—
I was cleaning out my bedroom, per my mum's request as she wanted to do a spring clean even though it was the middle of the summer, when I heard Jeff calling me from his room.
"Coming!" I called back, before dropping what I was doing to see what he wanted.
If my room was a tip, his was much worse. But when he saw me, he had a neatly collated box of items in hand, holding it out to me.
"What's this?" I asked, accepting the box that he practically thrust in my arms. When I looked inside, I saw some girly items that definitely weren't his.
"They're Jackie's," he answered awkwardly. "It's just some stuff she left behind that I never got around to returning. I'd go, but I think it might be better if you do."
"Right," I breathed out, before nodding. "I'll sort it."
He offered me a small smile. "Thanks, Y/N."
I gave Jackie's house number a call, ending up in a polite conversation with her mother who loved to talk my ear off and, of course, ask about Jeff who she still wasn't letting go of. After I finally got to the point of my call, she encouraged me to stop by so I thanked her and made my way over to the Taylor residence, only planning to make a quick trip.
When I rang their doorbell however, nobody answered. I rang it another time and even knocked a few times, but there was nothing. And then I fell silent as I heard a faint beat playing from somewhere. Following the sound of the music, I found myself walking around to the garden, realising there was a pool party going on. The Yellowjackets were all here from what I could see, some lying on sun beds whilst others played in the pool. Music was blaring from some speakers and they all seemed to be having the time of their life in the sun.
"Y/N, hey!" I heard Jackie, and searched the space to find her in the pool.
My mouth went dry when I saw her climbing out, only in her two-piece swimwear. As she approached me with a smile, I was certain I'd forgotten how to breathe, unsure where to look because it all seemed inappropriate. Her hair was wet, water droplets rolling down her tanned skin, and I wouldn't have been surprised if I had a heart attack from how hot she looked there and then.
"My mum said you were stopping by," she said, wiping her face with the back of her hand.
I looked at her eyes and only her eyes, hoping my face wasn't as hot as the sun felt right now. "Yeah, I rang the doorbell but nobody answered."
"My bad, sorry," she said with a laugh. "I'm having a team pool party. Team building and all that. The music must have been too loud."
"It's all good," I said quickly. "Erm, I've got some of your things. You left it at ours when you were... yeah."
At the implication of Jeff, her smile faded naturally. Glancing at the box, she nodded gratefully.
"You alright to follow me?" she asked, grabbing her towel from the chair.
"Sure."
As she led the way, some of the girls said their hellos when I walked past, and then Jackie led me through her mansion of a home before settling in the kitchen.
"You can just leave it on the table over there," she said, nodding to the dining table whilst drying herself with her towel.
All I could do was nod as I went to set it down, and then she was suddenly behind me, the scent of chlorine and suncream washing over me.
"I was wondering where that necklace was," she said with amusement, looking over my shoulder and down at the necklace at the top of the box.
I shivered at how close she was, acutely aware of her minimal clothing and trying so hard not to let my eyes wander.
"You seem nervous, are you okay?" she asked, before walking to the fridge. "You want a drink?"
I swallowed hard, shaking my head. "No, sorry, I've gotta go finish cleaning the house with my mum. It's just hot out."
She smirked, clearly aware of the effect she was having on me, but I was too flustered to comment on it.
"That's too bad," she said with a pout. "You can stay if you want."
I waved a hand dismissively. "Oh, it's a team thing. I'll be okay."
She chuckled, eyeing me curiously, probably noticing the way I couldn't even meet her gaze anymore. "C'mon. I'll walk you out."
I followed her as she led me back into the garden, where the others were still having the time of their life. Jackie stopped and flashed me another picture perfect smile.
"Have fun cleaning," she said, patting my shoulder. "Maybe next time, yeah?"
I nodded, suddenly finding the space behind her head very interesting. She hugged me, making me freeze at the contact of both her body and the water on my clothes. She had to be doing this on purpose, surely.
"See you later," she said sweetly, eyelashes fluttering.
I nodded, quickly backing up, and stupidly almost slipping into the pool as I grew distracted by her yet again.
She laughed, warning, "Be careful!"
I smiled awkwardly, before taking extra care to leave without making even more of a fool of myself. Could you blame me? The last thing I needed right now was to be in close proximity of a half dressed Jackie Taylor.
—
Jackie Taylor was on everyone's radar, even when she was taken by Jeff, so I should have expected someone to make their move once enough time had passed since their breakup. Still, knowing it would happen didn't make it any easier to witness.
There was a fair in the park and the band and I had secured a gig there, playing a few sets during the evening. We played some covers and a few originals, the first we'd ever performed that I'd written. It was surreal, but everybody seemed to like it which made the smile permanent on my face the whole time.
After our first set, we all went offstage to take a quick break, and that was when Jackie found me. It was the first I'd seen her all evening, since she'd arrived with her friends and I was busy up until now.
"Y/N, you were amazing up there!" she complimented as soon as she saw me, pulling me in for a hug.
"Thanks, Jackie," I said appreciatively, returning her hug. "How long have you been here?"
"Your whole set," she said with a smile. "And would you look at that – I finally heard some original songs."
My cheeks grew warm as she shot me a teasing smile.
"I don't suppose you'll tell me who they're about?" she asked innocently, giving me her best puppy dog eyes.
"You supposed correctly," I retorted with a knowing look, making her curse quietly with defeat. I laughed and added, "Look, I appreciate your curiosity, but maybe they're just songs, d'you ever consider that?"
She eyed me suspiciously, smile ever present. "I guess... but I've got my eye on you, Y/N."
I rolled my eyes lightheartedly, hoping she couldn't hear my heart racing in my chest. Green-brown eyes met mine, sparkling with mischief, and I forced myself to endure, not wanting to raise suspicion. Hopefully she'd never find out they were all about her.
After chatting with her on my break for a little longer, I rejoined the band onstage and performed a few more songs. It was easier to spot Jackie in the crowd now that I knew where I was looking, and she looked so cute as she stood there with her friends, dancing along to the music. It was almost a dream, and then it wasn't. Because as I was performing, I noticed some guy talking to her, the flirting very obvious even from where I was stood.
I tried to stay focused, purposely avoiding looking in her direction, but I couldn't help myself. My eyes would drift back over to her, and that damn guy was still there, trying his luck as she entertained it for a bit. I knew I never had a chance with her, but seeing the girl you liked chatting to another guy was always a kick in the teeth, especially when it meant she wasn't paying you any attention anymore.
After a few more songs, the band and I called it a night and wanted to enjoy the fair together. Jackie was still being talked to by that guy, so I attempted to ignore it and focused on having a nice night out with my friends.
After playing a few carnival games and going on some rides, Jackie found me again, standing with my friends as Y/BF/N bought some ice cream for herself.
"Hey, guys, nice performance tonight," Jackie complimented the others, who chorused their gratitude. She added, "You mind if I steal Y/N away for a bit?"
"Oh, no, go for it!" Tommy insisted with a grin, tugging the others away before I could protest.
I sighed as Jackie flashed me an enthusiastic smile. "I've been dying to go on the bumper cars. Wanna come?"
"I, er, I'm not really in the mood," I said, possibly being a little petty but I couldn't help it, I was just sad.
"Oh, c'mon, it'll be fun!" she exclaimed, shaking my arm. "You're not seriously gonna leave me hanging, are you?"
I chewed on my lip as she watched me hopefully, and it only made me realise how stupid I was being. She couldn't help it if a guy wanted to hang out with her, and I definitely had no right to be jealous. I'd watched her be my brother's girlfriend all these years, surely I could live with the fact that she'd inevitably get another boyfriend and I'd never have a chance with her.
Before I could give in and agree, the guy from earlier approached us again, checking Jackie out in a not so subtle way.
"Hey, Jackie," he said with a smile, and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes, jealousy returning in an instant. "You wanna go on the ferris wheel with me?"
I crossed my arms and looked away momentarily, anticipating the part where she'd say yes and this would all be for nothing.
"I appreciate you asking, Matt, but no thanks," she said politely.
"Oh," he said with surprise, and then grew awkward, probably not expecting her to decline. "Okay."
He left soon enough, embarrassed, and I glanced at Jackie with suspicion.
"Why not?"
She looked back to me, quirking a brow. "Huh?"
I motioned in his direction. "Why didn't you wanna go with him? He was flirting with you earlier, wasn't he?"
She suppressed a smile, eyes meeting mine with amusement. "Because I'm trying to hang out with you, idiot, if you'd only say yes."
My gaze flickered to the ground sheepishly as she let out a quiet chuckle.
"Bumper cars," I confirmed. "Sure."
Her smile widened. "Awesome. C'mon."
I let her drag me to the bumper cars, lightening up as we spent some time together. The longer the evening went on, the less this 'Matt' guy was gnawing at me, because Jackie chose me and that was something, right? We went on rides, played some stupid fair games at her insistence, despite them definitely being rigged, and she forced me to win her a prize even when I lost several times. But all in all, she was happy, and so was I, and I suppose that was all that mattered in the moment.
—
The first night of the school play was finally upon us and I was backstage getting ready when Jackie paid me a visit, surprising me with a bouquet of flowers.
"These are for me?" I asked with genuine surprise.
"What is it they say in showbiz? Break a leg?" she asked rhetorically, before laughing at her own joke.
I smiled to myself as I looked down at the flowers in my hand. "Jackie, they're beautiful. Nobody's ever got me flowers before."
She tilted her, confused. "Well, that's not right."
I chuckled, gaze falling to her. "Thank you."
Heart warming in my chest, I pulled her into a hug with my free hand, grateful for her support.
"You deserve it," she said simply, before squeezing me tight then letting go. "I should go find my seat. I'll be right at the front where you can see me."
I laughed. "I'll keep an eye out. Thanks, Jackie."
She flashed me a smile before leaving to find her seat, and I couldn't stop smiling as the Drama teacher briefed us once more before final call.
The show went on with few hiccups, probably the best run we'd ever done, and the audience seemed to love it, giving us a huge round of applause. When the orchestra got their own special shout-out, I caught sight of my family in the middle, applauding, and then Jackie, who was cheering me on so loudly at the front that I couldn't help but flush with embarrassment.
Once the curtains closed, the orchestra had to go backstage for another word with the teachers before we were finally alright to leave. I found my family waiting for me at the back of the theatre and walked by the other students receiving praise from their families.
"There she is!" Jeff exclaimed when he saw me, grabbing my shoulder and squeezing it supportively.
I smiled as my parents pulled me in for a hug and congratulated me on the show.
"Thanks, guys, thanks for coming," I said gratefully, looking between them all. "You really didn't have to. I wasn't even in the show."
"Nonsense," my mum said with a wave of her hand. "You played beautifully, sweetie."
I breathed out deeply, both embarrassed and appreciative of their support. And then Jeff's expression dropped and I realised Jackie was approaching, flashing my parents a smile.
"Jackie, how lovely to see you," my mum greeted her. "You're here for Y/N too?"
"Yes, she did great, didn't she?" Jackie asked, putting an arm around my shoulder playfully.
"She did," my dad replied with a proud smile, before raising the flowers Jackie got me in the air. "And thanks for the flowers. It was kind of you to get them for her."
"Anytime," Jackie said with a shrug, before looking to me. "Are you free now or d'you have plans?"
Before I could respond, my mum insisted I celebrate with Jackie, trusting her. Since her breakup with Jeff, Jackie was still a favourite of my parents, understandably so. After saying our goodbyes, I was left with Jackie, who seemed excited about something.
"What are you thinking?" I asked her with amusement.
"I wanna hang out, my treat," she said nonchalantly.
My smile grew. "Seriously?"
She linked arms with me and began leading me to the door. "Seriously."
And that was how we ended up at the arcade that evening, with Jackie keeping to her word and rinsing all her pocket money on the arcade machines that were definitely a waste but she didn't seem to mind. We played air hockey, skeeball, a zombie shooter game and a bunch of other stuff that I didn't think she liked, and it was awesome.
After spending over an hour messing around, she generously bought me dinner there, some burgers and fries, and I was certain I was dreaming.
"You have your own ketchup, y'know," I said with raised brows when she dipped her fries into mine.
"I ate it and there's none left in the bottle," she claimed, before going in for another dip.
"Then ask for another bottle!" I exclaimed between a laugh, pulling my tray away.
"Quit being selfish!" she retorted with a grin, before leaning over the table to land a swipe.
"Jackie!" I scolded, and she winked as she ate her fry.
I rolled my eyes at her petulance before recognising someone behind her, approaching our direction. After a double take, I realised it was Eve Perkins, captain of the Lions soccer team and the girl Jackie utterly despised. The memory of the party from last year came to mind, including the whole argument I had with Jackie afterwards, and I suddenly prayed Eve wasn't here to cause trouble.
"Okay, don't freak out, but Eve Perkins is heading this way," I said calmly.
Jackie was surprised, straightening up in her seat and dying to turn around, but she kept her cool. "I won't."
"So, let me get this straight," Eve said as soon as she stopped by our table, looking down at Jackie with irritation. "You freak out at me for hanging with a sophomore, only to hang out with her yourself? What? Was her brother not enough?"
I almost choked on my drink at the abruptness of her words, worrying when I saw Jackie beginning to clench her jaw and fix Eve with a glare.
"Firstly, that's none of your business," she said lowly. "And secondly, you bitch."
I sighed inwardly, already expecting an argument, and Eve laughed bitterly.
"Tell me, Jackie. You still worried we're gonna beat you next week?" she asked condescendingly.
"Not worried at all," Jackie said through gritted teeth, reaching for her drink to calm down.
Eve smirked with satisfaction before looking to me. "Y'know, it's a shame you're hanging out with her still. You were cute. And you definitely deserve to be more than Jackie's sloppy seconds."
Mean girl fighting was never my thing, and I was stunned into silence at how rude Eve was being, clearly because of some unresolved business with Jackie. I was also a little embarrassed at what she was implying was between Jackie and I, unsure how to respond.
"Fuck you," Jackie said instantly, not at a loss for words, and it made me realise just how quickly things had taken a turn for the worst.
"Okay, how about we just leave it?" I said, looking between them both before settling on Eve with pleading eyes. "Please?"
Eve seemed to give in, rolling her eyes before walking off to rejoin her friends by the arcade machines. I sighed with relief before returning my attention to a distracted Jackie.
"Are you okay?" I asked with concern.
She breathed out slowly. "Yes. Sorry."
"It's okay. I'm just surprised Eve reacted like that. It came out of nowhere."
"I'm not," Jackie mumbled under her breath, only confirming my suspicion of some unfinished business between her and Eve.
I chewed on my lip, still a little concerned, but then she met my eyes with apologetic ones, expression softening.
"I'm sorry she said all that," she said sincerely, though her cheeks were tinged pink. "You're not my... it's not like..." She was struggling, eyes flittering around uncharacteristically, before she finished, "You're more than my sloppy seconds."
Realising why she was awkward, I began to chuckle. "Jackie, I know. I don't believe what she said. And besides, no sloppy seconds would be treated as wonderfully as I have tonight."
She hid a smile as she nodded. "Right."
It was easy for things to return back to how they were after that little interruption, and Jackie and I finished the rest of our meals in peace. Once we were done, I grabbed our trays to throw in the bin and she waited for me by the door. As I was dusting my hands off, I felt a presence beside me and looked up, not expecting to see Eve yet again. I hoped she wasn't here to start another argument, especially because I knew I'd lose it.
"I meant it when I said you deserve better than Jackie Taylor, you know that, right?" she said with a quirked brow.
I frowned. "That wasn't very nice. Jackie's a good person."
Eve snorted in disagreement. "Sure she is."
I shifted my weight between my feet awkwardly., "Look, your feud is your feud. I'm not gonna get involved."
She shrugged. "Fair enough. Sorry for involving you."
I nodded appreciatively, and she gave me a small smile.
"See you around, cutie."
Again, I was speechless as she walked away, wondering if she was trying to mess with my head to somehow get back at Jackie. Either way, there wasn't reason for me to see her around since we went to different schools, so I didn't let it worry me too much. Instead, I returned to Jackie who was glaring at Eve from across the room.
"What did she want now?" she asked with annoyance.
Not wanting to give her more reason to be frustrated, I said, "She just wanted to apologise."
Jackie glanced at me, unconvinced, but I shrugged and held open the door for her.
"Let's get you home, Jackie."
Thankfully, she didn't question me.

Fight Club
Pairing: Matt Murdock x (AFAB)Reader (with platonic Frank Castle x Reader)
Summary: @hellskitchenswhore is killing it with the prompts lately. Per her request: Matt's freaking out thinking you might be cheating on him because for the last few weeks, you’ve been coming home smelling like Frank. What he doesn’t know is that you asked Frank to teach you how to fight and didn’t tell Matt.
Warnings: 18+/SMUT. No use of Y/N. Female/AFAB reader (use of terms like girlfriend and female anatomy.) Established relationship. Brief mention of an active shooter at an office, Frank and Matt using pet names like sweetheart, mentions and accusations of cheating but no actual cheating, Unprotected sex, Fingering, P in V, Creampie, and Possessiveness from our dear Matt. Sort of getting caught after the fact.
Notes: I started taking kickboxing like three weeks ago, so I like to pretend that qualifies me to know what I'm talking about (It doesn't lol). So apologizes if I got any of the terminology wrong. UPDATE DEC 2023: I wrote an alternate ending to this fic that ends in a threeway with Frank that you can read here
WC: 5,000

“That’s it sweetheart, last round I promise.” Frank encourages you as you take swings at the bag in front of you.
You’ve been at this for at least an hour and your arms feel like jello. You can’t remember the last time you were breathing this hard that wasn’t from Matt bending you in half. Jumping directly into the Hudson would have kept you drier than the amount of sweat currently pouring down your face and exhausted body.
“Atta girl, atta girl!” Frank praises as you take your last few swings, arms too weak to make any real movement of the bag
“Alright, you’re getting the hang of it now. Few more sessions and you’ll be out there with Red every night.”
“Pfft I don’t know about that, Frank. I’m just trying to make sure I can protect myself is all.”
“So remind me again why you didn’t ask him to teach you this?”
It started last week. One of your favorite coworkers was going through a bitter divorce and her estranged husband decided to confront her at the office and pulled a gun. You heard two shots ring out from your desk and feared the worst - all the active shooter situations you'd seen on TV were happening live in your life. Fortunately, as you fled for safety, Jerry from accounting was able to disarm and tackle the guy before he could hurt anyone thanks to his black belt in Jiujitsu.
Even though the incident ended okay, it had spooked you enough to get yourself some defense classes, for all those times when your vigilante boyfriend was too far uptown to protect you at a moment’s notice and Jerry wasn’t around to save the day.
Matt was always overprotective of you and you hated to think how he’d react to the incident, so you hadn’t told him. When the story hit the news, you lied (via text so he couldn’t detect it) and said it happened on a different floor and you didn’t even notice.
You also didn’t tell him about your decision to learn self-defense. Matt was more than qualified to teach you, but for some reason, you just didn’t feel comfortable asking for his help with this. Maybe it was his propensity to throw himself into helping those he cared about, you especially, that gave you hesitation to give him another thing to prioritize over himself. Maybe it was just how good he was at fighting that made you not want to “be a beginner” in front of him (not that Matt would ever judge you about anything.)
In fairness to you, you hadn’t intended to learn it from his frenemy and former client, but you’d showed up at the boxing gym near your work and the gruff men inside intimidated you so much, you bolted out the door before signing up for a class, tears welling in your eyes when you quite literally bumped into Frank on the street.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, nodding towards the door of the boxing gym
“I thought… Look I want to learn how to fight. Or at least how to defend myself. This place is close to work but um… might not be the right fit for me.”
“Why don’t you just ask Red?”
“It’s a long story,” you replied with a sigh “but I really don’t want to ask him. Or for him to even know about it. So can you please not mention you saw me here or we had this conversation?”
“Okay, can I ask why not?”
“You can but I’m not gonna answer.”
Frank chuckled and shook his head
“Well if you want to learn to fight, this isn’t the best place. I know Vinny the owner and he’s a shit teacher. But if you want to learn for real, I’m happy to teach you.”
“What? Wait really? Wait, Frank you know how to fight?”
“Sweetheart, I was a Marine for over 15 years, ‘course I know how to fight.”
“And you’d do that for me?”
“Course. You’re Red's girl. What times’ he leave for his little night job?”
“9:00”
“Great, meet me here at 9:30. Tonight.”
And that was how you ended up here, collapsing on the gym mat beneath you with a groan.
“Not bad for your first time. We just gotta get you in the habit of resetting your hands after every hit, and you’ll be golden” Frank praises again
“Oh yeah, I forgot, always protect the face so I don’t end up lookin like you.” you jest
“Ouch” he feigns hurt with a smirk on his face “Red teach you to swing low like that?”
“Nah Castle, that’s all me. It’s part of why he loves me. Same time tomorrow?”
“Sure. See you then.”
By the time Matt returns home, you’re showered and in bed, sore muscles pulsing every time you twist and turn in your sleep. Between the smell of sweaty clothes in the hamper and the scent of your freshly washed skin rubbing against silk sheets, plus the heat radiating off your sore muscles as he crawls into bed silently beside you, Matt figures it out pretty quickly.
‘She started going back to the gym. Hmm. Have to ask her about that in the morning.’ he thinks as he drifts off beside you.
You awake in the morning to gentle hands rubbing at your back.
“Mmm morning Matty” you mumble, still pulling yourself out of sleep
“Morning sweetheart.”
“What are you doing?” you ask as he works a little lower down your spine
“Giving you a massage. I can tell you’re sore. When did you start going back to the gym?”
“Just yesterday. And you’re right I’m super sore. Thank you, this is a nice way to start my day.”
“Of course sweetheart. What gym did you go to? Did you have fun?” he inquires
His innocent prodding has you waking fully quickly, trying to cover your tracks without outright lying and getting caught.
“Oh this gym near work. Couple people in the office recommended it. And yeah I had fun.”
All truths.
“That’s nice. Mmmm do you want to start the coffee or shower first?” he asks, seemingly letting the subject go
Perfect.
As you rush around to get ready for work, Matt grabs the laundry hamper from the bathroom, walking it over to the washing machine. Your dirty workout clothes from the night before sit on top, now less potent that they have completely dried. But he can’t help but feel like something smells off.
Sure it smells like you - natural scent mixed with your fading sweat, but there’s something else. Something familiar. A very subtle hint of spiciness mixed with… is that gunpowder?
‘Weird’ Matt thinks to himself, but brushes it off a moment later, the smell not strong enough to really garner more than a passing thought.
But three times he does the laundry in a row, he smells it. It’s so subtle, he might not even give it another thought, but it’s just so damn familiar.
It takes another week for him to ask you about it.
“Hey sweetheart, you’ve been going to the gym a lot lately,” he mentions over dinner
“Mmmhmm. Yeah, can you feel my muscles growing? I’m feeling stronger.” you reply
“Yeah. What exactly are you doing at the gym? It’s really working.”
“Oh a little cardio, a little strength, you know…” you skirt around, being intentionally vague
“That’s good. Is it like a class or?”
“Um sort of. Just this guy at the gym, he’s been helping me. You know, walking me through the exercises.”
Also technically the truth.
“That’s good. Well, I’m glad you found something you like.”
‘Okay, so that guy must smell like this. She’s close enough to him in a warm sweaty gym, so there’s a little bit on her clothes. Makes sense.’ Matt thinks to himself. But he still can’t shake the feeling that that smell is so familiar.
Two weeks later, Matt is out on patrol when he hears a familiar heartbeat on the fire escape a few floors down from where he’s perched.
Frank.
“You just gonna sit there all night, listinin’ Red?” Frank asks
“Very funny Frank.” Matt says, hopping down to Frank’s level
“Haven’t seen you in a while” Matt comments
“Been busy. Madani’s been usin’ me more.”
“Oh don’t tell me you’re going legit Frank.”
“Not a shot in hell, Red. But gotta pay the bills somehow.”
And then a strong breeze blows. Frank’s signature blend of sweat, aftershave, and metallic mixed with gunpowder from all the weapons he handles overwhelms Matt’s nose. Matt cocks his head in confusion. It’s so damn familiar. But of course it is, it’s Frank. How many times has Matt been on a rooftop with him like this, bs-ing the night away while monitoring the city?
After catching up for a bit, they go their separate ways, the rest of Matt’s evening turning uneventful.
He returns home to you shortly after 3 am, your soft breathing as you sleep calms him as he strips off his suit.
You hadn’t met with Frank tonight. He said something about following a lead and you were perfectly fine with that, you needed an off day.
Matt curls up in bed beside you, resting his head on your back and falling asleep quickly.
The next night, Frank is really putting you through your paces and you swear you’re ready to collapse when he finally calls it for the night.
Per usual, Frank offers to walk you home when you’re done and for the first time since you started coming here, you accept the offer since you stayed a bit later than usual tonight. At least until you can make it to Hell’s Kitchen and within range of Matt.
You and Frank make small talk as you go and eventually, the chill of the autumn air has you shivering in your still-damp-from-sweat workout clothes.
“Here sweetheart,” Frank says with a lopsided smirk, slinging his worn jacket over your shoulders.
“Thank you Castle. Always a gentleman.”
“Course, ‘specially for Red’s girl.”
You make it to 35th and 10th, close enough to home and hand his jacket back to him, parting ways with a nod and a polite “goodnight.”
The later hour coupled with the particularly intense session has you collapsing into bed without even removing your shoes, let alone your gym clothes.
When Matt returns a few hours later, the smell hits him like a truck.
‘I swear to god Frank, if you’re bleeding on my couch again…’ Matt thinks to himself.
But when he enters the apartment the only heartbeat he can hear is yours. He inches slowly toward the bedroom and rolls the door open gently. He reaches down to feel the soft lycra of your leggings on your body, careful not to stir you from your slumber. The smell of your sweat clinging to your clothes fills his senses, way more potent than normal plus that other scent you’re bringing home from the gym. Matt pauses to wonder why he thought Frank was here but then it hits him.
Oh my god. The mystery smell from the gym you’ve been bringing home is Frank.
But how could you smell like…
And then the gears in his head start turning. And he feels like a goddamn idiot.
You had been going to the gym. But not to work out. You were cheating. With Frank of all people. And you’d made the critical error of not showering when you got home.
Matt begins to pace the apartment, rubbing at his chin as his thoughts move a million miles a minute about what to do.
Did he confront you? Did he confront Frank?! What should he even say?
The sun rises and he’s still pacing and contemplating when his alarm rings out. He shuts it off before it can wake you too. He needs more time to think about his next move. He gets ready for work quietly and slips out the door before you awake.
You find it odd you haven’t heard from Matt all day. When you woke up you saw his Devil suit in a heap in the living room and there was no damage to it or blood on it. So you knew he had come home and was relatively okay. But it was so odd for him to leave without a goodbye kiss or go this long in the day without so much as a text. But he had been busy with a heavy caseload lately. You finally break shortly after lunch and text him first.
“Hey Matty. Know you’re busy but I miss you and I love you. Dinner tonight?”
“Can’t. Working late. Don’t wait up.” He responds
That was… oddly curt. But again you figure he’s stressed and busy.
Matt on the other hand has been wracked with stress all day. It only took an hour of his constant pacing and fidgeting for Foggy to break and finally ask.
“Matt. What’s up?”
“I think… I think I’m being cheated on.” Matt confesses. He leaves the Frank part out of the equation, wanting Foggy to be as objective as possible about his response.
“What could possibly make you think that?”
“She’s been going to the gym like every night for a month now right when I leave for patrol and she came home last night smelling like… another man. And she’s been smelling like it a little the whole month but last night it was all over her”
“So did you ask her?”
“Well no but…”
“Matt you are literally a human lie detector and yet here you are jumping to conclusions instead of doing the rational thing and just asking her.”
And maybe Matt would have taken Foggy’s advice if he thought you were just cheating with your gym trainer. But this was Frank. And that made it all the more complicated.
Matt decides finally what he’s going to do. He’s going to follow you tonight, catch you in the act and confront both of you together.
Matt still hadn’t come home when you depart for your nightly workout session, but little did you know he’s there. Pacing on the roof, waiting for you to leave. As soon as he hears the lobby door shut behind you, he springs in to action, taking the stairs two at a time into the apartment and changing out of his lawyer suit and into his devil suit as quickly as possible, making sure not to lose your heartbeat now a block and a half away. He makes up for the lost distance quickly and is practically on top of you by the time you enter the gym.
“Hey Frank” you call out as you enter
“Hey. I’ll be over in a second.” he replies from the locker rooms
Matt crouches down by the side of the building, just close enough to the windows to hear everything going on inside.
You’re almost done wrapping your hands when Frank emerges from the locker room.
“Alright let’s start with our usual, then you can have a go at me again.”
“I don’t know Frank. You really wore me out last night. I woke up still in my clothes and shoes.”
Matt knew it. He fucking knew it.
“Tough shit sweetheart,” Frank responds with a chuckle. “And what did your boyfriend think about that huh? He got any idea what we’re doing here yet?”
“Honestly I don’t know. I didn’t see or hear from him at all today. Which is weird even for him. And no I don’t think he’s figured it out yet.”
“You’re gonna have to tell him eventually”
“No, I don’t”
“So what you’re just gonna keep sneakin’ around, becoming a prize fighter without him gettin’ suspicious? Shit even a regular guy would raise some alarm bells by now, but especially Red and all his … shit”
“Frank, I am not here trying to become a prize fighter. I’m just trying to get strong enough to defend myself if he’s not around to do it. That’s all”
Matt’s heart drops.
How could he possibly think you were cheating? And with Frank of all people. He felt like an idiot. Like a total asshole. Sure you had lied, well, technically withheld the truth and he’s sure you’ll explain why. And he’s hurt if you wanted to learn to fight that you didn’t come to him. But this was not nearly as egregious a stain on your relationship as he thought it was.
“I don’t know. Think you should tell him. Show him your moves. Shit, you’ve gotten a couple good hits on me these last few days I’m sure you could give Red a run for his money.”
“I am not fighting Matt, Francis.” You say with an eye roll
Matt listens for the next hour as Frank talks you through a few hitting drills, then the two of you sparring. Frank is clearly taking it easy on you, but Matt is still impressed by what he could tell of what you were doing. He absolutely would need to take you on to really gauge your skills.
Franks's phone rings out just as you’re cooling down with some stretches.
He answers and speaks for a few minutes.
“Alright sorry to jet out of here but Madani has somethin urgent for me. You good to get home alright?”
“Yeah, thanks Frank. See you tomorrow.”
Frank gives you a fist bump and then disappears through the front door. Matt uses the opportunity to sneak in just before the door slams closed behind Frank.
You’re sitting on the floor undoing your wraps as he finally speaks up.
“If you wanted to opportunity to hit Frank, I’m sure I could have arranged it some other way”
Your spine goes icy cold at the sound of the voice behind you.
“Matt… I” you stumble to explain.
“It’s okay sweetheart,” Matt says, hands up in surrender before reaching up to remove his mask
“What are you doing here?” You ask, ready for him to chew you out for your little secret.
“Alright if I’m honest, do you promise you’ll be honest?” He asks
“Yes.”
“I followed you here because I thought you were cheating. With Frank. And I know now that’s not what’s happening. And I’m sorry for not just asking you.” He confesses with a sigh
“Oh Matt. I’m so sorry that I did anything to make you think that. That’s not at all what’s happening here.”
“I know. Been listening all night so I know. But I have to know why. Why are you doing this and why didn’t you tell me? And Frank? Really?”
“It’s a long story. Can I tell you while we walk home?”
And so you do. By the time you make it home to your apartment, you’ve come clean about the incident at work and running into Frank and how he’d been coaching you the last few weeks, and why you were so hesitant to ask Matt to be the one to do it.
Matt is oddly quiet through your explanation but nods as you speak. He finally speaks up just as you’re unlocking the front door.
“I forgive you. And I’m sorry you felt like you couldn’t ask me. But now that I know, I am curious…”
“You want to see how much I’ve learned?”
He nods enthusiastically
“Fine. I guess since now you know you can join us tomorrow. If you want.”
“Perfect, I’ll be there”
He tucks you in to bed with a gentle kiss before heading out on patrol again, no longer clouded by doubts about your relationship.
—
When you arrive at the gym the next night, Matt is already there, looking extra adorable in his gray sweatpants and messy hair.
It’s all so familiar to him - the buzz of the fluorescent lights, the smell of sweat and heat, the gym mat sticking beneath his bare feet with every step. Just like Fogwells when he was a kid. He feels at home here.
“Hey sweetheart” he greets you with a kiss
“Hey Matty” you can’t help but smile whenever you see him after a long day “Frank texted me, he’s running late, but um do you want to help me warm up?”
Matt’s face lights up with excitement. “Yes. Okay. What does Frank normally have you do?”
“Two rounds of jab crosses on the bag. Three minutes each.”
“Okay, have at it”
You wrap your hands and begin hitting the bag. Not even thirty seconds in, Matt speaks up.
“Woah woah woah. Frank has been letting you hit like this and not correcting your form?”
“Yes. Wait, what the hell is wrong with my form?”
“You’re too far away from the bag. I can hear your shoulder joint rubbing every time you jab, which means you’re over-extending that left arm. Makes you put way too much energy into each hit, you’re gonna wear yourself out way faster. Here. Step closer.”
Matt moves behind you to help you correct your position, then lets you take a few more punches.
“See? More power, less effort.”
“Yeah. Any other pointers?”
Matt places his hands on your shoulders and places his feet right beside yours, pressing his body tight against your back. You never thought of boxing as particularly erotic, especially not with Frank teaching you. But with Matt’s breath against your ear, you can’t help but feel a chill run down your spine straight to your core.
“Go ahead, gimme a few more, I want to feel how your body moves. See just what else Frank has been teaching you wrong.”
“Matt…” the words die on your lips. You want to speak up and defend how kind Frank has been these past few weeks to spend the time to teach you, but Matt’s sweet whisper of encouragement has you forgetting anything else but him.
“C’mon sweetheart, don’t get all shy on me. You hesitate like this for Frank?”
“N..no.” you stutter, then weakly throw out a few more punches
Matt chuckles, knowing just how much he’s winding you up with so little.
“Put a little more power behind them. Don’t let me being here hold you back.”
You try to do as he says and throw some real hits, but Matt is still pressed right against you.
God, his body is warm usually, but being flush behind you as you move and hit, he practically feels like white-hot iron against you. Your heart is thumping out of your chest, and it’s not just from the few minutes of warming up you’ve done. You know Matt can hear it and is going to play you like a fiddle. His own wicked form of punishment for not telling him about your training.
His hands drop from your shoulders, running down your back lightly and coming to rest on your hips. He plants a soft kiss right under your ear.
“You’ve been working hard. Maybe Frank does know what he’s doing.”
He places a second kiss a little lower down your neck.
“You throw any actual punches at him yet?” he asks
“A few. Landed some of them too.”
A third, fourth, and fifth kiss down your neck, working his way toward your shoulder. His stubble is coarse against your skin, sending goosebumps across your flesh, your toes curling into the squishy mat beneath you.
“Mmm that’s my girl.” he says, as he begins sucking on your neck, his right hand snaking around to your front, tickling at the top of your leggings.
“Matty” you chastise
“What?” he feigns ignorance
“Matthew. Do not start something you can’t finish. Frank will be here any minute.”
“You said he’d be late.”
“His text said ‘a few minutes’ and that was already several minutes ago.”
“Well I can’t hear his heartbeat yet, so we’ve got at least five.”
You want to protest more, you really do, but you just can’t resist Matt.
Laughing low, he nuzzles into the crook of your neck, his steady breath against your exposed skin a stark contrast to the growing labor of your exhales. You spread your legs a little wider. He takes the invitation and reaches his hand fully into your leggings, using a finger to circle your sensitive bud.
You throw your head back onto his chest with a moan, his name falling from your lips in a breathy whisper.
He continues to suck on your neck as works at your core, finally sliding a finger inside you, then another.
You reach forward to grab the boxing bag for stability, Matt’s touch causing you to writhe enough that you’re not sure you’re able to stay standing without it. As you thrash against him, he inhales deeply, a mix of your natural scent and your arousal consuming his lungs.
In order to get you exactly where he wants you, he keeps a quick pace, knowing he does not have a lot of time. His rhythm never falters, stroking you over and over in that perfect spongy spot inside you. It’s not long before you're coming apart with a cry of his name.
Just as your head stops spinning and you’re returning to earth, Matt is turning you around and connecting his lips with yours. So hungry to have you, he guides you back a few steps, never breaking his lips from yours, and pushes you against the wall behind you.
His kisses grow more and more desperate, sending an electric tingle down your spine, though that could also be because the wall behind you is made of mirrors and the glass is cool against the heated skin not protected by your sports bra.
As soon as you make contact with the wall, his hands are back on your hips, pushing your leggings and panties down in a heap on the sticky mat beneath you. His clothes soon follow.
You throw your leg up and around his hip, opening yourself to him. An offer he quickly accepts. A soft gasp simultaneously escapes both your lips, the relief between the two of you as he guides himself slowly into your wet and eager core until he’s fully sheathed inside you. Restless fingers reach down to wrap your other leg around him, now fully holding you in the air against the mirrored wall behind you.
He repeats the pace of his fingers only moments ago and slams into you harshly and quickly, over and over again, desperate to feel you release around him again, knowing Frank could appear at any moment.
God, your familiar warm heat is absolute perfection, he thinks as he continues to bury himself into you over and over again. You’re still incredibly worked up from your previous climax and it takes just a few thrusts for you to be close again. The way your body is clamping around him and tensing lets him know just how close to ecstasy you are again.
Matt leans forward and you can feel his quickening breath against your ear once more.
“Damnit sweetheart, you scared me so bad. Made me think I was sharing you with someone else.” he grunts as he continues to drive his hips against yours.
“No Matty. I’m yours. Only yours — oh God. I promise.” you whimper back, arching into him further.
“Good. But to make sure you don’t forget, I’m gonna cum inside you, right now and every single night before you leave. So I’m dripping out of you after every hit, every kick. No matter how much Frank trains you. So you remember exactly who. You. Belong to.” he growls lowly against your skin, pushing you even more firmly against the cool glass with every thrust.
“Yes. Please Matt — Fuck. I’m all yours. I promise. Please.”
He thrusts one more time before he cums with a rumble of your name, his arms tightening around you, holding you impossibly close as he releases inside you just as he promised.
As he grinds against you in just the right way to hit that perfect spot one more time, your own orgasm sweeps over you. Your nails dig into his back, holding on to him as you let go, his harsh thrusts now slowed just enough so he can keep the both of you upright.
He feels you release, causing a final low groan from him, slowing down his pace, as your molten pleasure fades away. Still consumed by him and the feel of him holding you close, you lean your head back to rest against the mirror behind you as you catch your breath. Just as you feel like fully slumping against him, he sets you down gently.
You don't even really register him pulling away from you until he speaks.
“Might want to put your pants back on. Frank’s a block away and I don’t think you want him to know how I warmed you up before he got here.”
You open your eyes and see that Matt is already dressed, a smirk painted across his face as he listens to you scramble to put your clothes on.
Just as you’re adjusting your leggings back in to place, Frank and his large frame enter the gym.
“Hey –” he pauses at the sight of you and Matt in front of him, both sweaty and still panting a little.
“Hmmm. Guess Red knows now.” Frank grumbles
But then his eyes go wide.
“You wanna tell me what that’s about?” he asks with a point of his finger.
You can feel the heat rising in your cheeks as you turn behind you to see what he’s asking about. The mirror is covered in smudges that look vaguely like the outline shape of your body.
“We don’t talk about what happens at fight club…” Matt jokes as you bury your face in your hands in embarrassment.

All tied up || [Spencer Reid X f!reader] Pt.1
First time posting a fic here.
The idea of Spencer remembering all the shibari knots from a book gave me the incredible urge to start writing. This is part one and mostly setting up to part two where all the spicy stuff will happen.
Tags: Shibari, eventual smut, consent, (idk I am bad at tagging)
Part two
--------------------------------------------------------------------
"I actually heard it can be very therapeutic." Spencer Reid stood next to you as you were bent over a case file. The unsub would tie their victims up in intricate red rope, displaying them like a piece of artwork. Suspended in mid air their bodies hung from ceilings. You had made a comment under your breath as you watched the detail in the knots, nothing of interest. Either they'd been strung up post mortem, which seemed unlikely with the way their bodies were contorted. Or while the victim was alive and cooperating. Meaning the victims trusted the unsub.
You knew of shibari, had seen it once when you had stumbled upon it while researching a sexclub where a suspected unsub was picking his victims. It piqued your interest, seeing the knots tied carefully with enough slack to allow fingers to slip past the rope. The shapes accentuating the women's bodies, looks of content on their faces. You had quickly squashed the thought at the time. Not wanting to address your new found interest in the slightest. Hoping that if you didn't think about it it would go away. Unfortunately that hadn't been the case. You'd managed to find pictures of the beautiful rope designs people created and it only fed the flame growing inside you. But when Spencer made that comment as he looked over your shoulder. Something stirred inside. Like he knew what you'd been thinking about.
"I don't think they found this very therapeutic." You retorted, eyes focused on the paper again. If they hadn't been crime scene photos they could have been beautiful. Spencer placed one hand on the desk, the other on the back of your chair as he leaned over. The heat of his body radiating off of him. You kept your eyes on the papers, not daring to look up at your workplace crush. Who, in all his genius, was the most clueless person you'd met. "Right, I don't think they did. Still, it's interesting to see the great care the unsub took to present them this way. It’s like a piece of art, he takes pride in his work." Spencer commented, saying the words you'd just been thinking. "It could have been beautiful if not for the murder." you said a bit solemnly, not thinking about your words, still trying to figure out whether the unsub tied them up post mortem or not. Absentmindedly tracing your fingers over the ropes in one picture.
"Would you ever want to try it?" Spencer suddenly asked. Your head whipped around in surprise, staring at the man who was looking down at you. He was gauging your reaction, which now that you realize it, was way too obvious. He'd probably already caught on to the fact you'd been interested in shibari from the case before. A damn good profiler even if he was clueless about your feelings for him. "W-what? No, of course not." You lied, feeling heat creep up your neck as you averted your eyes from him. “Why would you say that?” You asked in turn, knowing he’d already caught you in your lie. “Just the way you said it could have been beautiful. I’ve read a book on it once…” The way Spencer said it was suggestive, knowing what he meant once he said he read a book on it once. He remembers it all, the knots, the ties. He was offering to help you get it out of your system. The way he trailed off made it non committal, it wasn’t a full offer but it was up in the air. If you wanted to go in on it he wouldn’t judge. “You have? Are you interested?” Your voice was low, barely above a whisper because you were still in the bullpen. Colleagues and teammates are still around to hear if you spoke too loudly. “We have Saturday off.” Spencer spoke, it wasn’t an answer but an invite. “We do.” You agreed, and that was it. “You could come over.” Spencer said, there was something in his voice. It was low and smooth. “I can. At 2?” You added before daring to look up at him again, he nodded his head with a slight smile. There was a flush on his face. “I’ll see you then.” He added, pushing himself off the table and returning to his own desk, your eyes following until he sat down.
Your mind was jumbled with thoughts about what could happen when you get to his place. Mentally you were still trying to grapple with the fact that he had invited you, but standing on the doorstep had been quite the wake up. You rang his doorbell and Spencer buzzed you in. You walked to the elevator, pressing the button and stepping inside to head to the second floor. Stepping out and walking past the other doors until you reached his front door. A deep breath. You raised your hand, a timid knock on the door that was opened just a second too quickly. Like he had been waiting for you. “Hey.” Spencer breathed out the word, a slight smile on his lips as he stared at you. You could feel your cheeks start to heat under his gaze. “Come in.” Spencer said as he stepped out of the way, letting you pass into his apartment. “Thanks.” You said as you observed your surroundings. You’d been in his apartment once before. It was lived in, slightly cluttered and warm. It smelled of books and coffee, some of his vices. His large leather couch was put to the side and the middle of his living room was currently a large open space. He’d prepared this. You swallowed thickly, knowing he’d taken care to get it all ready made you excited, a fluttering feeling settling in your stomach. The small bag you had taken with you was placed down next to the coat rack. Your jacket was slipped off your shoulders by Spencer, the motion making you look over your shoulder at him. He gave you a reassuring smile, warming your heart and soothing your nerves. “Do you want something to drink first?” He asked as he hung your coat away. “No, thank you.” You replied, wanting to get to it rather than stall. It would make you nervous again to wait. Wanting to get started almost immediately. “Alright, then let’s get started?” Spencer asked it, maybe to have clear confirmation that this was what you wanted. He fidgeted slightly, perhaps as nervous as you had been before. You nodded your head, the action seeming to calm Spencer slightly, his hands stopping from fidgeting. Instead grabbing the red rope that was laid out on a side table, pushed to the wall this time.
“How do we start?” You asked, having prepared by wearing a pair of soft shorts and a tank top. Spencer turned back to you, taking two strides before he was right in front of you again. Something in his eyes had changed from before. “Strip.” His tone was different, making a shiver run down your spine.
This was going to be interesting.

Ghost House Report: A Requiem For You - Jude Jazza Premium End
Fan translation only. Not 100% accurate. Please expect grammatical errors. Cybird owns everything. Feel free to re-blog, but please do not post my translations elsewhere. If you'd like to be added to my translations tag list, please comment below.Thank you, for you support! ☾.
CW: Corpse, Death.
Anne: I couldn't keep my promise to my papa to be a good girl and wait for him...
Anne looked down at her corpse and muttered to herself.
Jude: Anne, ya turned into a ghost ‘n waited for him…….It was your father that didn’t keep his promise.
Anne: You’re wrong! My papa never breaks his promises!
Anne: I’m not lying to you, Cross my heart and hope to die,
Anne: stick a needle in my eye. ……that’s what he promised!
Anne: Someday, he’ll definitely come to pick me up……!
Kate: Anne……
Anne probably loves her father and wants to tell him that.
However, the mansion's investigation records did not contain any reports of girls going missing in the past.
Objectively speaking, her father did not come to pick her up, nor did he look for Anne, who died here.
Anne: But……I’m tired of waiting.
Kate: What……?
Anne: I’m talking about my papa, but I’m already dead and I can’t leave the mansion……
Anne: ……Since I’m tired, I think I should give up.
Kate: That……
Jude: …………
Anne: Miss Kate and Mister Jude’s coming here may be a good chance.
Anne: Now at the end, thank you for the fun memories……
Smiling sadly, Anne gradually disappears.
(Anne will disappear just like this……?)
(She waited and waited and waited for her father, but he never showed up……)
(….I can't overlook such a sad ending!)
Kate: Wait!
I stretched out my hand towards Anne as she disappeared.
Anne was surprised by my voice that held her back, and her transparent body gradually returned to normal.
Kate: I'll find your father and bring him to you, so please wait until then.
Judging from the condition of her body, Anne must have been dead for decades.
If it was that long ago, we wouldn't know if Anne’s father was still alive.
But, I couldn't leave Anne alone, who had kept waiting for her father.
Kate: Jude, quit being silent and say something!
Jude: …..? What?
Kate: I’ll let you meet your father. Jude, that’s what you promised.
For a while now, Jude hasn’t been acting like Jude.
Even though he usually places so much emphasis on keeping his promises,
When Anne grew tired of waiting and tried to disappear, he didn't try to stop her.
Kate: Are you willing to break your promise? Are you giving up before you take action? That Jude!**
Jude: ……What’s that, ya tryna provoke me by givin’ me a bad name?
Kate: Yes, I’m provoking you!
Kate: Usually, you’ve would’ve dragged the father over here.
(I don't know what killed Jude's spirit.)
(……But in order to find the father, I need Jude’s help.)
I thought I had to do something to get Jude motivated, so I went for it.
Jude: ……Ha. Seems like you’ve started sayin’ some pretty big things.
Kate: Sorry……but, I won’t take it back. Because right now these are the words you need, Jude.
When I finished speaking, Jude finally gave me his usual cruel smile.
Jude: —Anne. As she said, I never break my promises.
Jude: As promised, I’ll letcha meet your father.
Anne: ……Really? I’ll be able to meet my papa?
Anne: Ah! I’m a ghost, but I won't curse you two just because you broke your promise to bring my papa.
Kate: ……That’s not it. We’re not keeping our promise because we’re afraid of you being a ghost, Anne.
I didn't want Anne to cry, I wanted her to have hope, so I promised her that I would let her meet her father.
I simply wanted her to meet her father.
Kate: I’m keep my promise not because I'm afraid of being cursed, but because I want to do something for you.
Anne: …….,Thank you. Miss Kate and Mister Jude.
Jude: Now to set a date for the meet up.
Anne: ……date? .......
Jude: The point of when the promise is fulfilled.
Jude: Anne, remember. When ya make an agreement like this, ya hafta to be very clear ‘bout the terms.
Jude: Didn't ya hafta wait for years?
Anne: ……Yeah.
Anne: Papa said he would come, but it was really hard to wait for a promise that I didn’t know when it would come true.…..
Jude: ……I understand.
(Jude……?)
Jude: If ya can wait that long, be patient a lil longer.
Jude: I’ll definitely return, so be a good kid ‘n wait.
Anne: Yeah……!
Leaving Anne at the mansion, we finished the investigation and returned to Crown Castle.
Kate: Jude, let’s look for Anne’s father right away!
Kate: I'm going to ask Victor now for permission to view past records—
Jude: No, I’ve already found her father.
Kate: Huh…….already?!
Jude: The necklace hangin’ on Anne’s neck.
Kate: Ah, it’s Anne’s mother’s necklace.
Kate: She said she secretly took it from her Father……
Kate: …….Yeah? Come to think of it, you were also looking for a necklace.
Kate: Maybe it's the necklace that Anne was wearing.…..
Jude: T’was the same necklace I was asked to look for.
Jude: The wealthy ol’ man who asked me to find the belongin’s would be Anne's father.
Jude: Gonna leave ‘n see ‘im soon. Get depressed ‘n I’ll leave ya behind.
We traveled by carriage and arrived at the mansion of the wealthy man.
Wealthy Old Man: Don’t you think it’s rude of you to ask for me this late at night?
Jude: I finished looking for the belongings that were part of the conditions set for the land sale. I’d like you to check it out as soon as possible.**
Wealthy Old Man: You’ve found my wife’s belongings?! I guess it can’t be helped……
Jude: Here it is……Take it, and look it over.
Wealthy Old Man: Let’s see.
The old man takes the necklace from Jude, and carefully inspects it.
(This person is Anne’s father. ……He looks to be around 80 years old.)
(……Anne had been waiting for a long time.)
When I think about Anne waiting for her father in that gloomy mansion, my heart breaks.
Wealthy Old man: ……This is my wife’s necklace. You found it for me.
Jude: About that, there’s something I’d like to tell you.
Jude: I'd like to speak to you at the location where the necklace was found... Would you mind coming?
Wealthy Old Man: That haunted house... my wife's precious belongings have finally returned. I don’t mind if it’s just for a little while.
While occasionally lending a shoulder to the crippled old man, we brought him to the hidden room in the haunted mansion.
Wealthy Old Man: We’ve come this far. Can you tell me the story now?
Jude: Yes. By all means……talk to her.
Wealthy Old Man: Her……?
The old man looked up, and there stood Anne.
Anne: Papa……!
Even though he's gotten older and his appearance has changed, Anne seems to still recognize her father.
She happily jumped onto the old man.
Wealthy Old Man: C-could this be……Anne……?!
Anne: Yeah! You finally came to pick me up as promised……!
Wealthy Old Man: Promise……
Anne: I believed you! That you’d come for me, Papa!
The old man who had a look of shock on his face didn't hug Anne back.
Anne: ……Papa, I have to apologize for something.
Anne: The day I said goodbye to you, Papa, I had taken mama’s necklace. Can you forgive me?
Wealthy Old Man: Oh, oh, of course........I also have to apologize to you, Anne.
Anne: About being late to pick me up? That’s okay! After all, you came to pick me up properly!
Anne: Thank you, Papa. I love you very very much……
Anne: And then….Miss Kate, Mister Jude. Thank you for bringing my papa.
Anne smiled happily and disappeared with a light.
Jude: ……So? What on earth were ya doin’ waitin’ until ya were this ol’ to come ‘n get her?
Wealthy Old Man: Well, that's... I was looking for Anne, who disappeared after I sold her to the owner of this mansion.
Jude kicked a chair in the room as if to interrupt the old man's words.
Wealthy Old Man: Eek!
Jude: All ya asked me to do was search for your wife’s belongins’…...
Jude: Ever since ya sold Anne to the owner of this mansion, ya ain’t ever looked for her.
Wealthy Old Man: I-I couldn’t love that child.
Wealthy Old Man: My wife died after she gave birth to that child, and I thought that child had killed my wife. So……
Jude: Then ya sold Anne to the owner of this mansion, ‘n used the money to start a successful business.
Jude: Ya happy thatcha got rich by sacrificin’ your kid?
Wealthy Old Man: I-I let her go because I was thinking of that child’s happiness!
Wealthy Old Man: I didn’t think was good for that child to be raised without love.
Jude: ……So ya tryin’ to say it ain’t your fault.
Jude's earthy voice oozed with unconcealed murderous intent.
Jude: Ain’t no way a child can be happy if someone buys ‘em for a pittance.
Wealthy Old Man: That’s……
Perhaps out of guilt, the old man’s eyes wandered around.
He probably knew what would become of Anne, when he sold her to the owner of the mansion.
Kate: That’s too cruel…….Anne’s been waiting for you for a long time……!
Wealthy Old Man: I feel sorry..…. Let's bury the body next to my wife's grave.
The old man looked at the body resting in the corner of the room and quickly looked away, as if he couldn't bear to look at it.
(There’s no sign of mourning for the departed Anne……)
(……Anne’s been waiting for this type of person?)
I was filled with helpless thoughts, but there was nothing I could do..
The only consolation is that Anne smiled when she disappeared.
Jude: ……That’s ‘nough. My business is finished, I’m goin’ home.
Jude suddenly seems to have lost interest and turns on his heel. I followed after him.
Wealthy Old Man: Well, wait. I have a bad foot. I need you to lend me a hand when I go home.
Jude: It’d be nice is somebody came back to pick ya up.
Wealthy Old Man: …….You over there, lend me a hand.
When Jude refused, the old man tried to rely on me.
But, I didn’t want to help him because of what he did to Anne.
As I was wondering how to refuse, Jude grabbed my arm and forcibly led me out.
On the way back home in the carriage, Jude still had a grim expression on his face.
(There was something I wanted to ask Jude, but it didn't seem like I could ask him.)
Jude: ……What. Got somethin’ to say, then say it.
Kate: S-sorry……Um……
Kate: Jude you weren’t like your usual self, you were being lenient, so I wondered why……
Jude likes to make rich people who sit safely in high places to despair.
He’s said before that he’ll never forgive a contract defaulter.
Anne's father fits those two conditions perfectly.
However, Jude didn't push him into a corner or torture him any more than necessary.
Jude: Personally, I was so angry I wanted to kill ‘im.
Jude: But, Anne doesn’t want that.
Kate: Ah……
(……It’s true that Anne loved her father until the end.)
(No matter how angry we are, Anne doesn't want her father to suffer.)
(Instead of being consumed by anger, Jude was thinking about Anne's feelings……)
When I think about Anne, I’m not in the mood to chat.
A quiet moment passed without either of us saying anything.
I wondered how much time passed. Eventually, Jude began speaking to himself.
Jude: No matter how unreasonable it was, you wouldn’t hate it,
Jude: Waiting as a ghost for the day when the promise would be fulfilled.…..
Jude: ……Love is a curse.
After everything that happened in the haunted house was cleared up, I decided to write a report about it.
However, I quickly got stuck, so I went to the lounge for a change of pace.
Jude: ……Ya look gloomy. Still thinkin’ ‘bout the kid?
Kate: ……Yes.
Anne met her father and ascended to heaven with a happy smile on her face.
(Anne must have been happy with that, but…… I still can't get over the feeling in my chest.)
(“Love is a curse……”)
I recall the words Jude muttered in the carriage on the way home.
No matter how unreasonable and cruel her father was, Anne loved her father and kept waiting.
On the other hand, Anne's father was worried that he would be cursed because of breaking his promise due to having no love for her.
(I think what binds people together more firmly than the fear of punishment surely is...love.)
(Jude isn’t the kind of person who is afraid of punishment.)
(If that's the case, then the promise that Jude is trying to keep was also made out of love……?)
Curious about this I looked at Jude, and our eyes met.
Jude: ……Ain’t it better to just forget?
Kate: What……?
Jude: About Anne. Worryin’ ‘bout it is a waste of time.
Kate: ……No, I won't forget.
I will never forget the smile Anne gave me and the time we spent together.
Kate: I will make sure to record this incident in the report, and then……
Kate: I will do my best as a fairytale writer to ensure that such a tragic event is never recorded again.
Kate: I believe that if we use the Crown to defeat evil, we can nip these tragedies in the bud.
Jude: ……Ha. It’d be easier to forget, but I as I thought, you’re a masochist for choosin’ the thorny path.
Jude said in exasperation and left the common room.
Kate: This is fine……
After struggling for several days.…..I finished writing the report on the haunted mansion.
(When I finish writing the report, I always feel like the incident has come to a close.…..)
(.…..I don't think I'll be able to forget this incident any time soon.)
Her father will soon be tried on charges of human-trafficking for selling Anne to the mansion’s owner.
But he doesn't have long to live. Even if he does atone for his sins, it won't be for very long.
(Anne was made to suffer, so is it cruel to want someone to suffer just as much…..)
(……It’s no use. I can’t sleep while thinking about this.)
It felt like my thoughts were getting darker and more stagnant, perhaps because of the silence of the night.
When I headed to the kitchen to get something to drink to refresh my mood,
Victor was there humming while making sweets.
Victor: Oh, good evening Kate. Are you staying up late tonight?
Kate: Yes. I can’t sleep……
Victor: Jude had the same look on his face as you. It must be because of that haunted house mission you two recently did.
For the past few days, I've been going back and forth between the library and my room to finish writing my report.
I never met Jude, so I didn't know what was going on with him.
(I wonder if Jude feels the same way as me.)
Kate: ……Victor, I'm going to check on Jude.
Sorry for the delay. There were several lines that were quite a challenge to translate. Can't wait to see the EN version to be released and see how off I am. Anyway....
**Jude appears to be using proper English when addressing Anne's sperm donor at the start of their conversation, and then he appears to drop it after she ascends to heaven. ***For this line, 御託はええわ (Gotaku wa ewa), was placed before Jude said he was only told to look for the necklace, but I chose to drop this from the t/l. It seems to indicate pretentious/tedious/saucy speech to name a few. It would appear Jude is calling the donor's response tedious, however, this can potentially be translated another way, and I won't bore you with that. But, if anyone knows how, this is rendered properly, kindly let me know in the comments.

LIFE OF THE PARTY PRT 2 🔥ish
- Chris Sturniolo x y/n (fem)
- KINDA smutty 16+
- warnings: uhh making out heavily and a little rough. and some touching whatnot. oh also language.
- authors note: this one’s a tad smut, so if that’s not your vibe, don’t read it. AH OK nervous to post this one but here!
- word count: 1,516 w
summary: you and chris, your least favorite person ever, end up getting sent to 7 minutes in heaven after the game of spin the bottle does not go in your favor…but things between the two of you escalate.
oh and here’s part one of u didn’t read
and part three for when ur done!
You moved in and the door was immediately slammed behind you by another player.
“OKAY YOU TWO 7 minutes starts now…don’t do anything stupid” they chuckled
You stood shoulder to shoulder with chris, both of your backs against the wall, completely unsure of what to do. The room was dark except for the small sliver of light pouring in through the crack in the door. You stole a glance at Chris and could only barely make out his features in the darkness. The silence became too much for you so you cleared your throat hoping any sound would be enough to inspire at least something.
“D’worry.” Chris started, still not looking in your direction. “I’m not actually excepting anything to happen in here.”
“Oh…okay. yeah no me too” you fibbed wiping your sweating palms on your skirt. guess it really was just you who’d read something into that last kiss. stupid. there was another silent pause before he muttered.
“I knew you’d be scared shitless of 7 minutes in heaven anyways”
“what’d you say?”
“nothing…just that i knew you’d never actually do this sorta thing when people weren’t watching you….judging you. not capable of having fun, remember?” He said sarcastically actually looking at you for the first time
“seemed like you were having fun during that last kiss” you taunted with a sudden flood of guts
“Wha—well—guess i’m just a good kisser” he fumbled. had you actually managed to to make chris nervous?
“yeah sure that’s what it was” you mocked
“we’ll i’m sorry a little spin the bottle make out was too hot and heavy for you to handle. pardon me, miss vanilla…probably saving yourself for marriage or some shit”
“vanilla? please you wouldn’t even be able to handle me if you tried” you snapped, immediately being shocked by your own words. The tension in the room was electric. You could hear Chris’s breathing sharpen as he processed your statement. He swallowed loudly in a moment of quiet before responding.
“you’re wrong.” he said flatly.
“huh?” you mumbled, still mulling over your own statement from earlier.
“i said, you’re wrong. I could handle you”
you felt your mouth go dry and you heart start racing as you turned to look at him in the barely there light. he wet his lips with his tongue before chewing on his lower lip as he continued to stare at the floor, his chest rising and falling quickly. your mind was speeding, but one thing was clear. you wanted him. badly. maybe even needed him. and this was the only chance you might get.
“prove it” you challenged staring at him. he turned to look at you finally, his eyes wide. his mouth dropped open slightly looking for something to say, but apparently coming up short. you reveled in this new found sense of power. you had him in the palm of your hand.
“I said, prove it” you stated again, calmly.
Chris’s eyes searched yours for a second desperately before you grabbed a fistful of his shirt fabric and pulled him in to you. your lips smashed together in a passionate kiss before pulling apart, stopping with your faces inches apart from each other, breathing heavily. you waited wanting to give him the next move. he didn’t disappoint. he pushed his lips back against yours and slammed your body up against the other side of the wall, grabbing at your waist hungrily. You were taken aback by this sudden aggressive side of him. It was hot to feel how needy he suddenly was for you. You let in a sharp inhale at the feeling of him lightly biting down and pulling at your bottom lip, giving him a chance to slip his tongue into your open mouth. one of his cold hands slid up higher to the space of your waist between your skirt and top to the exposed part of your skin, gripping at your warm flesh sending shivers down your spine. as the other held the side of your face and neck in place all the while exploring your mouth with his tongue.
You ran your hands up his chest and around his neck to the back of his hair. You felt his breathing unsteady at the new sensation, which made you wrap your fingers through the locks of his hair and pull slightly. He let out a small groan into your mouth that made you feel heat start to form between your legs. But you couldn’t let him know what he was doing to you just yet. you pulled away from his lips just enough to whisper to him
“still no fun, chris?”
“Shut up and keep kissing me” he growled back. you obliged immediately, latching back onto his lips. he ran a hand down past your skirt to your thigh, gripping it tightly. It sent fireworks through your body and you let out a small pathetic whimper. he chuckled at this a little before pushing your hair behind your shoulder with his other hand, giving him access to your neck. he squeezed your thigh so tight it stung as he moved his mouth to your neck. He left sloppy wet kisses all over the most sensitive parts of your vulnerable skin making you moan again and pull at his hair, impossibly trying to bring him closer to your body. hearing your apparent enthusiasm only made chris want more and he began to bite and suck just above your collarbone.
This was too much for you to handle and the space between your legs cried for some sort of friction to ease your desperation. you rolled your hips forward, the one leg still in his grip now slightly wrapped around him, bringing your lower halves slack together and pushed against him harshly. you felt chris’s body shudder against you and the hot air of him gasping against your neck.
“fuck. don’t do that” He said freezing against your skin, not moving.
“what?” you breathed out, still focused on mainly trying to satisfy your own torturous build up, pushing up slightly against him again.
He sucked through his teeth hissing at your movement before shooting up to face you, grabbing your jaw.
“I said. Don’t fucking do that again” he repeated looking distressed. you felt a smirk start to creep across your face as you realized the effect you were having on him.
“Chris don’t tell me just a little kissing got you all hot and bothered” you taunted not breaking eye contact
“fuck you y/n” he said not moving. you slowly leaned back in to kiss him gently, your hips now against the wall a safe gap between the two of you. He kissed you back, seemingly falling for your sudden act of innocence. you started to slip your hands from around his neck down his chest lowering them slowly down his stomach towards his hips. He let out a small whine. you moved one hand past his waistband and down to his clothed crotch, immediately feeling his painfully hard length pressing against his jeans.
“nnggh oh god” he groaned at slight touch of your hand. you fake gasped as you teased
“chris are you hard for me already” against his lips. he let out a strained half laugh
“I hate you” he rasped
“that’s not what it feels like to me” you said softly as you started to palm him lightly through his pants.
“oh fuck” he moaned as he collapsed slightly against you, burying his head into the crook of your neck breathing heavily. His dick strained and throbbed through the layers of restricting fabric against your hand.
“ALRIGHT LAST MINUTE GUYS” a voice shouted from outside the door, reality checking you. You began to pull your hand away and chris latched his onto your wrist.
“don’t stop y/n” he snarled. you made a fake yawn sound planning it painfully cool as you teased him yet again.
“sorryyy times up chris. guess you couldn’t handle it” you said pushing him off of you and toying with a bracelet on your wrist. without warning he grabbed your wrists swiftly with one hand, slamming your hands above your head and kissed you heavily again. he pulled back still restraining you
“oh i can handle you any day, baby” he said before moving his free hand up the inner part of one of your thigh. he stared into your eyes and he slowly slid his fingers up higher to your desperate heat. Finally he reached the thin lacey fabric of your thong covering you. you pathetically moaned again, finally being touched where your body was screaming with need. he rubbed gently against your hardly covered folds. and let out a chuckle.
“fucking soaked for me already and i didn’t even have to do anything”
“sh-shut up chris” you struggled to get out. he let out a small laugh again.
“please if i had you in here for just a little while longer i’d have you screaming my name in minutes” he said before pulling off you just in time for the door to swing open.

Miracle-fifteen
Pairings: Noah Sebastian x Reader
Warnings/Tropes: forced proximity, slight enemies to lovers, slow burn, smut, angst, fluff, mentions of death, and swearing.
Summary: Reader is the merch girl for Bad Omens. It wasn't what she wanted to do with her life but when her mother got sick with Alzheimer's, reader took a job where she could to help with the costs. She thought it would be a one-time gig but the longer she was on the road with them, the harder she fell for Noah Sebastian; even if he wanted nothing to do with her. She needed a miracle to save her mom and her future.
Author Note: Since this one is in Noah's POV, it's kind of short because I didn't want to give too much away for what's going to happen next in the Readers POV. With it being so short, I'll make it up to you guys with an extra long one for chapter sixteen!

NOAH
"You're a fucking idiot," Folio seethed, eyes slicing me in half.
My gaze was glued to the door, not wavering even with the various sets of eyes burning into me. None of them mattered. The only one that did slapped me in the face and walked through the door moments ago. I said some nasty, hurtful, things to Y/N, but the words slipped out of my mouth before I even thought of the repercussions. I was so hurt with how she'd been avoiding me the last few days and when she was around me, all I could think about was how she broke up with me because she'd rather deal with things alone. I wanted to be with her to help her with her mom but she continued to push me away before falling into Folio's arms.
I knew there was nothing to be jealous or upset over with their friendship but the part of me that couldn't get over parts of my past kept screaming at me they were hooking up. Then when I saw her post more pictures on her Only Fans page earlier, all I saw was red. When we were together, she never posted, so I'd assume she was doing it out of respect for us, which I never would have told her too since it would be her choice. But only a few days of being single, she was back to post pictures of herself; not the typical half covered.
My angel was naked in all of her gorgeous glory for everyone on that fucking website to see and do gods know what else.
Like you're one to judge. Remember that time in the small tour bus bathroom? She was on the other side of the door in her bunk while you came all over your hand.
Shaking the thoughts from my mind with a scowl, I turned to look at Folio.
"Screw you," I gritted out. "I don't need a lecture from you."
Folio stared at me with wide eyes before scoffing. "I'm not trying to start shit with you, Noah."
Bryan and Nick muttered something to Davis and Matt then soon, the four of them left to most likely find where Y/N went. They left me alone with Folio and Jolly, who stayed as a buffer in case things got heated.
"What the hell is the matter with you?!" Folio demanded.
Throwing off my jacket, I ran a hand through my hair. "It's none of your business."
"Bullshit," Folio spat. "It's everyone's business because you brought us into it. You didn't have to bring up those things, but you did because you felt upset about something so small as a friendship. Maybe if you weren't such an asshole to her, maybe she would have came to you with these things about her mom."
"She's dealing with that on top of finding out that her whole life is basically a lie," he continued.
"She pushed me away," I reminded Folio.
Who in turned rolled his eyes. "That didn't mean you had to walk away. She needs you, Noah. For once in your life, stick to something good. That's what she is for you; good. Stop letting your past dictate your future with her because you're afraid."
With one final look, Folio slipped past the door, leaving me alone with Jolly.
He gave me a stern gaze. "You crossed a line, Noah. I know it bothers you that Y/N went to Folio with these things about her past and her mom but that doesn't make it right. Just because you're dealing with shit from Rachel-."
"Don't say her fucking name," I gritted out through clenched teeth.
Jolly hesitated for a moment. "She fucked you up, we all know that. But pretending that you're not still dealing with it is bullshit."
"I'm not," I defended. "It happened years ago and I haven't thought of her since the night I left."
"Rachel cheated on you. Throughout your entire two-year relationship. That's why you left."
With a long breath, I fell onto the couch in the green room. "I don't need to be reminded, Jolly."
"YN isn't Rachel. She wouldn't hurt you like that," he said while sitting next to me.
I knew that. I also knew it was wrong of me to compare what Rachel did to me in the past to Y/N now. Rachel cheated on me any chance she could find. I invited her with me on Bad Omens' first tour but she declined so she could stay back at our place to invited guy after guy over. The only reason I found out was because I came back early from tour one night and caught a guy mid thrust into her.
After that, I packed up all of my shit to move in with Jolly. I couldn't stay in the place we shared knowing what she did there. I told the rest of the guys what Rachel did but none of them really know how bad it fucked me up.
Only Jolly did.
The trust issues. The constant worry if I'm enough for whoever I'm with. The fear of walking into the same thing; with Y/N and Folio.
Even dealing with all of that, it gave me no right to say those things to Y/N. She didn't deserve it, especially with what she'd been going through the last few days.
"I think the two of you need to sit down and actually have a discussion about what's going on. Although it doesn't excuse what you said, you need to tell her how you're dealing with some things in your past relationship and projecting it onto her," Jolly said.
I rested my head in my hands, suddenly the realization of everything I said to Y/N replaying in my mind.
"I said some fucked up shit, Jolly. I put her personal business out in front of all of you and compared it to basic porn."
"Wait," Jolly shifted in his seat. "It's true? About the Only Fans?"
I nodded. "I don't know why she's doing it."
"What's going on with her mom?"
As I opened my mouth to speak, the door to the green room bursted open and in walked Folio, whose eyes blazed with fury.
"You need to call her; now," he demanded.
"She won't talk to me," I shot back while rasing to my feet.
Our set was about to start and the last thing I needed right now was to be getting lectured by Folio.
"Do you know why Y/N had to leave?" Folio asked.
When I shook my head, exasperated, he continued. "Her mom, who has Alzheimer's, drove and crashed her car into a tree. She's in the hospital right now."
My heart sank to the pit of my stomach, the guilt eating away at my insides.
"Where's Y/N?" I asked, suddenly not giving a shit about our show tonight.
Folio shook his head. "She's gone, Noah. She packed up her shit and found a flight back home. But don't act like you give a shit about her. You threatened to fire her because she needed to leave. Why? Because you're upset that she's talking to her friends? That's all we are to her, friends. She's fucking crazy about you, dumbass. The two of you being together was the best thing to happen to her in a long time."
"I fucked up, Folio," I muttered.
"Understatement," he deadpanned. But then let out a long breath, the anger easing away from his shoulders. "I never intended to come between you two, Noah."
"I know," I nodded. "It's my own fucked up mind that's pushing her away and creating tension between you and me."
Folio raised a brow. "Is it because of Rachel?"
When Jolly noticed the way my jaw ticked and fist clenched, he answered for me with a nod. "I already gave this speech."
My heart hammered in my chest, the fear of finally losing Y/N creeping in. "I really fucked up."
"Where exactly is Y/N now?" Jolly asked when he heard the sadness in my voice.
"Davis is driving her to the airport. It wasn't cheap, but she was able to find a last-minute flight home," Folio said.
Silence fell between us for a long moment, the three of us staring at each other wondering where to go from here.
"We can't cancel the show," Jolly finally said.
Folio agreed. "There's only three shows left. Y/N said she would have our balls if we canceled the rest of the tour because of this. Once were done, we can check in on her."
I remained quiet, my mind running through a handful of different thoughts. Mostly ones of the ways I would go about making this up to Y/N. There was a chance she wouldn't forgive me and never want to see me again.
Could I live with that?
Hell no.
Would I bend over backwards and prove to her how much she means to me?
I thought then back to that night of the first party she attended at my place. It was right before we were heading out on tour, her first tour with us. I couldn't keep my mind off of her that entire night as she talked with Davis, who she knew from highschool, and then Folio. He was always easy going which would explain why she retreated to him.
When it came to the group shot, I purposely made it to be that she was next to me. Before, I watched her from afar but in that moment, having her that close to me made my heart warm with adoration. She was breathtakingly beautiful and her voice sounded like a sweet symphony. I wanted to bathe in the warm glow that radiated off of her, before I dulled it with my own issues.
When she smiled? Fuck, it lit up the entire space.
I remember being so nervous for the picture but when she eased into my touch around her lower back; I found myself staring at her instead of the camera. In that moment, I knew how fucked I was for her. She had me wrapped around her little finger and I would have given her everything she ever wanted.
Until you fucked it up.
Running a hand over my face, I let out a long sigh before looking at Folio. "I'm sorry for being an asshole to you."
He gave me a curt nod. "I'm not the one that needs an apology, Noah."
"I know," I nodded while looking at the tattoo on my thumb of the angel wings.
Would I bend over backward to prove to her how much she means to me?
Without fucking question.

“You fall, and you crawl, and you take—no,” you pause your singing to shake your head, mumbling to yourself before starting over, “No, that’s not it. Uh—you fall, and you crawl, and you break…”
You spun in your kitchen, a smile breaking across your face as you sang the lyrics to the song that had lingered in the back of your mind for two decades. Once Tommy had gifted the cassette to you, you had taken it upon yourself to memorize the lyrics, listening to the song on repeat whenever you had the chance to.
It had elicited laughter from Dina more than once, the girl playfully judging you for your mumbled, off-tune singing until you sat her down and forced her to listen to the song with you.
“Okay,” she had said as you shared the headphones, her foot tapping to the beat as she nodded to you, laughing again as you swayed and sang along. “I get it now. It’s good.”
Eventually, you listened to the entire album, but you kept going back to that one song. It helped alleviate the pain from a dagger you had never managed to remove from your heart, giving a sense of comfort that you needed as autumn rolled closer to Jackson.
The shift in seasons brought forth a memory that you would rather not recall, but you knew you would be forced to remember once the days got shorter and colder. So you held onto this happiness, this rare feeling of peace, for as long as you could.
A knock sounded on your back door, and you jumped, caught in a rare moment of being completely taken aback as you stared at the small window on the door, seeing the perpetrator who had intruded on your moment.
You sighed, crossing the short distance to swing the door open, arching an inquisitive eyebrow at the man leaning against your doorway, the same way he always did.
“May I remind you of Rule #1, cowboy?” you teased as you leaned against the open door, to which Joel rolled his eyes.
“I’m here for the friend part of the arrangement,” he mumbled, and your lips twitched into a nearly unnoticeable smile.
“Not the benefit part?” you drawled, and he sighed at your sultry tone as you shifted to allow him into the house.
“Not right now,” he said simply while he moved past you, the brushing of his body against yours causing a spark of electricity to shiver through you that you blamed on the activities that you were alluding to.
“What a shame,” you sighed playfully as you closed the door behind him, making sure to cover up the window; blocking the early morning light out, as well as protecting you from any prying eyes of potential nosy neighbors.
A laugh almost escaped you as you watched Joel head right for the cabinet where you kept the mugs. He pulled down the engraved mug without hesitation, grabbing another mug to slide down the counter towards you before he turned towards the coffee tin that you had just recently replenished.
“Did you move in when I wasn’t looking?” you joked, eliciting a scoff from the gruff man as he prepared the coffee, placing the pot on the stove as you reached for your matchbox.
“Shut up,” he muttered, the usual response both of you tended to give when you didn’t have a clever response to something the other one said.
You merely hummed as a reply, blowing out the match after you struck a flame that lit the stovetop under the coffee pot.
Your relationship with Joel had begun to settle over recent weeks. The two of you ironed out most of the awkwardness in your new, tentative friendship, though you both still felt more comfortable partaking in each other’s company in private than being seen together in public.
No mention was ever made of the night you had patched Joel up in his home. There was no reason to dig up the grave that memory was buried in, and you were at peace leaving that moment to rest.
Absolutely no part of you was curious about the feelings that Joel had stirred from you when he held on to your hand for longer than he needed to.
No, there was no fiber of your being that still lingered on the memory of the sight of his bare back before he pulled a shirt on.
Or his soft thanks before you ran away.
Rules, you reminded yourself sharply, shaking the memory out of your head as you realized it was clawing its own way out from where you had laid it to rest, six feet under in your mind. Nothing personal. No taking off clothes. No bedrooms.
You glanced back at Joel as he poured himself a cup of coffee when it was ready, licking his lips in anticipation before he brought the mug to his mouth for a sip.
Nothing personal. No kissing.
That specific part of the rule passing through your mind unexpectedly made you jump, and you glanced away quickly as you tried to deny to yourself that the urge had been there, no matter how brief.
Out of the corner of your eye, you watched his shoulders relax as a quiet sigh of content left him from tasting the bitter drink before he put his mug down, and your stomach flipped before you forced yourself to look away again.
Nothing personal, you repeated internally, the words becoming a familiar mantra whenever moments with Joel like this arrived. Nothing personal. No—
Your mug being pushed towards you again caught your attention. Looking down, you saw that it had been filled with coffee, and your heart thudded against your chest when you realized it was prepared the way you preferred it.
When you reached your hands out to take it, your fingers were trembling slightly, and you steeled your nerves as you grabbed it. Swallowing thickly, you pushed whatever the fuck was happening in your mind deep down under the surface as you brought the mug up to your lips for a sip, trying not to let out a noise of satisfaction at the perfect taste.
You didn’t thank him, and Joel didn’t ask you to.
Familiar silence descended on you both as you drank your coffee together in relative comfort. In the middle of a sip, your gaze landed on your little dining table, and the memory of Joel’s face between your thighs as you spread your legs for him on it flashed through your mind so quickly, so suddenly that you choked on your drink.
Joel glanced at you from the corner of his eye at the sound, and you spun away from him, clearing your throat loudly a few times until you recovered.
“You doing okay there?” he asked, and you stiffened as you heard the question had more of a hint of smug teasing to it than real concern.
“Oh, just dandy,” you drawled, using sarcasm to cover up how flustered you were just from the memory of Joel going down on you.
Fucking hell, the man had fucked you so many times you had lost count, so why did the act of him eating you out get you so riled up?
You paused, going over the thought you had just had again as the first part of it sent shock rippling through you.
Jesus, you had fucked Joel so many times you had lost count.
Sure, you hadn’t exactly been a blushing virgin before Joel. You had had your fair share of sexual encounters, including a few one-night stands with individuals in Jackson who you still ran into from time to time. But those had only ever been one, maybe two nights.
But Joel, you kept going back to.
And now the way his hands gripped your hips was familiar. The way he licked and bit just below your neck, in a spot you could easily cover up any sign of a mark, was a sign that he wanted you. The way his head tilted back, his face contorting in pleasure as his movements became unsteady—you knew that meant he was close, that he was about to give in to it.
Give in to you.
“You sure about that, sweetheart?” Joel’s voice came as a smooth murmur in your ear, his hand spreading across your hip as he gently tugged you back into him, and a soft, audible exhale left your lips as your back pressed to his chest.
Fuck, you thought, your eyes closing, mouth falling open as his hand continued to slowly move across the hemline of your sleep pants before dipping down under it.
“Mm, no panties?” Joel mumbled, lips pressed against your ear, and you gasped quietly as his fingers lightly traced along your folds.
His digits were wet—oh, fuck, he had probably licked them before he snuck up on you when you were lost in thought. Joel had walked over here with the intention of finger-fucking you while you hadn’t been able to stop thinking about him.
“Uh—” your breath hitched, any dry remarks lost before they could leave your lips as his fingers spread you apart before finding your clit.
You bit your lip, a needy whine escaping your throat as one hand leaves the mug of coffee you were still holding to grab his arm.
“I thought—” you broke off with a harsh exhale as he began to trace circles around your clit, biting down on your lip harder before you finally managed to stutter out, “Thought maybe you’d show up last night. Figured I’d make it easier to access.”
Joel chuckled against your ear, the rumble of his smooth baritone sending shivers down your spine as you melted back into him. He began to slowly rub your clit from side to side, and a soft moan slipped past your lips as you rolled your hips into his touch.
“Don’t you have such a pretty way with words,” he drawled, and you moaned as you realized he was actually teasing you—in your kitchen, drinking your coffee—and, god, you were more than happy to let him.
You hissed as the coffee sloshed from your mug when you nearly dropped it, dodging the drops of hot liquid before Joel easily grabbed it from you with his free hand, setting it on the counter next to you to be forgotten. He then spread that hand across your stomach, reaching up to grip your breast in his palm, thumb flicking over your nipple until it grew hard through the fabric of your tank top.
“Fuck, J—” you bit your lip, just cutting yourself off from moaning his name.
Even though you had already whimpered it more than enough times when he went down on you, suddenly your stubbornness was flaring up. A determination not to let him see how much he got to you after your thoughts earlier.
But then his fingers began to slow, his thumb slipping away from your nipple as he rubbed your clit achingly slowly. You whined as you tried to roll your hips against his hand faster, even as he kept the slow pace.
“What was that?” he whispered, his nose pressed against the nape of your neck, and you exhaled sharply because, fuck, that nose was gorgeous, the strength and slope of it and—
Wait, gorgeous?
What?
“Fuck,” you gasped, trying to pull yourself away from him, but he easily pulled you right back against him, his grip firm where his hand was still cupping your breast.
“The other part,” Joel murmured smugly, apparently still caught on your words from earlier, and not your sudden hesitation.
“I—”
His thumb flicked your clit and you gasped, back arching as he held you tight in his grip. Still, you shook your head stubbornly, keeping your lips sealed even as he flicked your clit again, causing a whine to become trapped in your closed mouth.
“Say it,” he whispered, urging your lips to part with his command as his thumb began to suddenly rub quickly over your clit again, and your mouth dropped open with a sharp gasp. “What, you’re shy now? After you couldn’t stop moaning it when I made you cum three times on that table?”
“Fuck you,” you snapped, though the words lost their edge with the pleasure of the sudden fast pace of his rough, thick fingers stimulating you.
“Working on it,” he grunted, a whine escaping your throat at the words. Joel’s lips found your ear again, his teeth grazing the shell of it, tongue flicking out along it as he hissed, “Say. It.”
When one of his digits slipped easily through your wet folds and sunk into you without warning at his order, you nearly cried out from the sudden intense fullness, your head tilting back onto his shoulder as you gasped, “Joel!”
You could hear the smirk in his voice, could feel it against your skin as his lips grazed across the edge of your jawline from where your head rested back on his shoulder, “There it is. Good girl.”
A whimper left your throat, his name leaving your lips again as his finger continued to thrust into you, again and again, pulling another moan of his name out with it each time. Eventually, he sunk another finger in to join the first, and you lost complete awareness of your surroundings except for his fingers inside you and on you, rapidly stimulating your clit as he whispered filthy things into your ear.
“That’s it, darling,” he murmured, and you shivered from the sound of his Southern accent wrapping around the term he called you, your chest heaving from your rapidly approaching high as he continued to tease your orgasm closer with his words, “You’re such a good girl for me, aren’t you?”
“Yes,” you whispered, nodding desperately as your hips rolled with his fingerfucking, his free hand moving to stimulate your other nipple. “Yes, Joel, yes.”
“I know you wanna cum,” he mumbled, tongue flicking out along the edge of your jaw before he bit down on the skin underneath it, and you gasped as your hips bucked into his touch.
“Yes, please, please,” you begged, losing any sense of coherence that would make you hold onto your stubborn pride, instead losing yourself in submitting to him completely in this moment of approaching ecstasy.
“Then do it,” he drawled, lips moving up to graze against the top of your temple as he commanded almost gently, “Cum for me, sweetheart.”
With those words, it only took a few more thrusts of his fingers and a last, delicious circle against your clit for you to do as he told you. You gasped as your hips jerked forward, your body falling back so hard with the intensity of the orgasm that Joel had to grab you tighter, holding you up against him as you shook with the pleasure that rocked through you.
“Oh, fuck,” you gasped, your eyes finally flashing open, vision still blurry from the euphoria of release. “Fuck.”
When your vision focused, you saw Joel looking down at you, his face mere inches from yours as your head still rested back on his shoulder, and your heart stopped.
Your eyes, glazed over with the haze of pleasure, searched his dark ones from where they watched you from above. There was an intensity to them, a familiar desire, and something else that made your lips part subconsciously.
Joel’s eyes flashed down to your mouth at the movement, and your breath caught in your throat. His brow furrowed, staring for a few seconds longer before meeting your eyes again, and you licked your lips as you tried to bring yourself fully back to the present, still lost in the afterglow of your orgasm.
“I—”
You weren’t sure who had started to speak, but whoever it was got rudely interrupted by the sound of a knock on your front door.
For a moment, you and Joel just froze—probably trying to figure out if you had just hallucinated the sound, or mistaken something else for it.
But then there was another knock, and you swore under your breath as you jolted out from Joel’s grip that had loosened on you from shock.
“Shit.”
“Fuck.”
You and Joel began to hiss a variety of swears to yourselves as you tried to fix yourself up, making yourself as presentable as you could as he darted towards your back door. He stopped when he reached it, casting a panicked look back to you, and you sighed before waving him off.
“Just go,” you whispered, and the man had the gall to give you that stupid fucking smug arch of an eyebrow as he glanced over you.
“You’re a mess,” he mumbled, his hand coming up to push a stubborn strand of your hair away from your face as you walked forward to shove him out the back door, and you ignored the skip of your heartbeat by scoffing at the remark.
“Yeah, thanks for that,” you rolled your eyes, biting your lip as you took one last look at him standing on your back door steps. Your mouth opened to say something, stopping when you realized you didn’t know what to say, before shutting the door in his face with a sigh.
There was nothing more to say, you told yourself. You continued to comb your hands through your hair, adjusting your sleep pants as you hurried to the incessant knocking on your front door.
“Yeah, alright, I’m coming,” you snapped, adjusting your clothes one last time before swinging the door open with no small amount of exasperation. “Who the actual fuck—”
You stopped short, your stomach dropping as Tommy grinned at you from the other side of the door.
“Hey,” he greeted happily, holding up a small tin in his hands. “Came across some more coffee in a recent trade. Figured I’d drop some off since I remembered you were low on—”
Tommy stopped suddenly, his eyebrow slowly raising as he leaned back, his gaze moving up and down your body as you shifted awkwardly at the analysis.
“What?” you tried to snap, but it came out as more of a mumble before trying to grab for the coffee tin, which he quickly pulled away.
Laughter began to spill from Tommy’s lips, both his brows lifting now as he asked bluntly, “Alright, who are you fucking?”
You scoffed, a loud laugh of surprise leaving your own lips as you couldn’t help but give him an incredulous grin.
“You can’t be serious,” you said disbelievingly, but his smug grin told you all you needed to know. Rolling your eyes, you tried to grab for the coffee again, though your faint amusement quickly turned to exasperation as he kept holding it out of your reach while he shifted past you. “Tommy—”
“Are they still here?” he asked with a grin back at you, clearly getting far too much entertainment at the expense of your exasperation from his sudden jump to conclusions.
Which, well, he was right, but Jesus fucking Christ you didn’t need Tommy to know you were having regular sex with somebody, of all people to figure it out.
“Nobody’s here, Tommy,” you replied, your voice clearly showing your annoyance as you followed him around your living as he swept an analytical gaze around it, apparently searching for any sign that somebody else had just left in a hurry. “Have you ever heard of masturbation?”
Tommy laughed loudly, pointing at you with the coffee tin as he began to move into your kitchen, and you sped up your footsteps to try and catch up with him.
“Really?” he asked incredulously, ignoring your nod before he gestured towards your jaw. “Then how’d you manage to do that to yourself?”
Your hand flew up to your jawline, pressing your fingers down along it until you winced at a sensitive spot, and you held back a groan as you remembered Joel’s lips and teeth on that spot.
“Seriously, Tommy,” you groaned as you walked up to where he stood in front of your counter. “Nobody—”
You stopped short as Tommy held up a mug with a familiar engraving, still half-full of black coffee, and he looked smugly at you when you fell into stunned silence.
“That means nothing,” you said quickly, folding your arms over your chest, too stubborn to let him believe he was right even as he set it down to pick up your own mug next to it.
“Damn, even sharing your coffee with them?” he teased, a glint in his eyes as he shook the tin he had brought in his hand before setting it down at your small, humble coffee station, along with your mug. “You gonna bring them to dinner next?”
You coughed, lifting a hand up to cover your smirk of amusement, because you really shouldn’t be entertained by the thought of the person Tommy was alluding to bringing to your monthly dinner being somebody who already attended it.
“It’s not a big deal, Tommy,” you sighed once you were finally able to wipe the smirk off your face, dropping your hand to your side while he looked at you in disbelief.
“Are you kidding me?” he exclaimed, waving his arms before gesturing back to the two mugs on your counter. “You’re drinking morning coffee with someone! That’s huge!”
You shifted awkwardly, glancing away from him as his words cause unease to build inside of you.
“It’s not like that,” you tried to explain, lifting your hands in exasperation as you tried to find the words. “It’s just sex. Really.”
“Uh-huh, sure,” he drawls with a roll of his eyes, leaning against the counter with a smug smirk and his arms crossed. “So, who is it?”
You spun away from him with a frown, picking your mug back up to take another sip of your now cold coffee.
“Why would I tell you?” you covered up your trepidation with a sigh, sending an unamused look at his mock look of offense at your next words, “So you can interrogate them?”
“I mean, someone has to,” he said with a shrug and an easy smile, to which you shook your head in disbelief.
Tommy stared at you, his gaze searching yours, and after a moment where you didn’t budge, he deflated slightly, amusement faltering with a heavy sigh.
“Alright, fine,” he muttered as he waved his hand dismissively. “Keep your secrets.”
Even though he let it go, you could still see the curiosity in his gaze, and you were proven right when after only a few moments, he opened his mouth to ask, “Can you at least tell me how long it’s been going on?”
You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose as you could feel a headache coming on from the situation that you had found yourself in.
“A few months,” you half-lied, deciding to leave out the fact that the first time that it happened was more than a few months ago. He opened his mouth, probably to ask another question, and you raised your finger to point at him as you quickly added, “No more questions!”
Tommy raised his hands in a defensive gesture, shrugging casually even though you could tell his curiosity had not been sated.
“Okay, okay,” he sighed as he pushed himself off the counter, but not without sending another sweeping gaze around the kitchen, as if he was still expecting to find your mysterious casual sex partner lurking around the corner. “I get it, you want privacy. You don’t wanna tell your best friend that you’ve been fucking somebody for months. That’s fine.”
You groaned, rolling your eyes at the melodramatics as you placed your hands between his shoulders to begin pushing him back towards the front door.
“Because you’d make way too big a deal out of it,” you said as you pushed Tommy out of the kitchen and through the living room, even as he tried to hold onto walls and plant his feet into the ground to halt your progress while he laughed.
“You sure they’re not lurking about somewhere?” he said over his shoulder, grinning at you as you managed to wrestle him back to the front door. “I’d like to get a look at the mysterious individual who stole the heart of my dearest friend.”
You scoffed, rolling your eyes at the words, even as the truth of the ‘dearest friend’ comment made you soften slightly.
“It’s just stress relief, Tommy,” you sighed as you swung the door open, leaning against it as you gestured for him to exit, which he did with a heavier sigh that outmatched your own.
“Sure, sure,” he drawled sarcastically, his Southern accent strong with the words as he walked out onto the porch. He spun around, walking backwards towards the porch steps as he threw a charismatic grin towards you. “So you wouldn’t be opposed if I set you up on a date, then?”
You glared at him, wanting to deny him as you always did, but you knew that he wouldn’t stop pestering you about what he had discovered this morning unless you agreed. So you threw a hand up in the air and snapped, “Yeah, go ahead! Sounds great, actually.”
Tommy’s eyebrow raised as surprise flashed across his face, but he quickly recomposed himself, his grin returning with an air of glee at your agreement to the idea he had been pushing on you for years.
“Alrighty then!” he shouted, drawing the attention of the early risers down the street, and you glared at his overabundant enthusiasm.
A laugh nearly escaped you as he nearly fell down the porch steps from walking backwards, but he caught himself on the railing, recovering quickly from his brief stumble before directing the grin back towards you again. “Just you wait, I’m gonna set you up with the perfect match.”
“Yup, I’m sure,” you said sarcastically with a roll of your eyes as you began to close your door.
Tommy’s grin grew mischievous, a glint of something akin to mayhem in his eyes as he added, “Then we’ll see if your mystery suitor will appear from the shadows to—”
You shut the door in the middle of his sentence, shaking your head as you heard his laughter echo even through the walls that now separated you from him.
A groan escaped your throat as you sank against the door, your back sliding down it as you combed your hand through your hair.
“Motherfucker,” you muttered, though you weren’t sure if it was directed towards Tommy, Joel, or even yourself. “What the fuck did I just get myself into?”
Joel glared half-heartedly at his brother as he was dragged by the younger man to The Tipsy Bison, his brows furrowed at Tommy’s cheerfulness that almost left a bounce in his step as they walked under the streetlights.
“Is there a reason why you’re in such a good mood?” Joel drawled, though his tone was playful as he arched an eyebrow at Tommy’s annoyed huff.
“Just doing a little recon,” Tommy muttered with a sly smirk, which only increased Joel’s cautious curiosity when they walked through the doors to the bar.
Joel only had made it a few steps into the bar when Tommy’s hand clamped down on his shoulder, pulling him to the side, maneuvering on the outskirts of the room to find a table in the back.
“Now you’re just being weird,” Joel muttered, to which Tommy rolled his eyes as he sat at the small table and got the attention of a nearby waitress, greeting the woman by name and exchanging a few pleasant words before ordering their drinks.
“Been that way for a long time, big brother,” Tommy replied smoothly, sending a wink towards Joel at the older man’s annoyance, to which Joel scoffs.
“Yeah, sure,” Joel mumbled, his brows still furrowed as he glanced away out towards the room, as if he could ascertain why Tommy had been so eager to come out tonight.
The bar was less busy than it was during the height of summer, but there were still a fair amount of people out tonight. They were probably trying to catch those last warm nights before autumn fully arrived, and Joel’s fingers tapped against the table as he scanned the groups and individuals for anything out of place.
His search was interrupted when the waitress returned, placing glasses filled with familiar amber liquid in front of them. Tommy thanked them kindly, and Joel’s nod and quiet murmur of “thank you, ma’am” was followed by a blush on the waitress’ face, her gaze lingering on Joel a bit longer than necessary before she left to the next table.
Joel noticed it, but he ignored it, lifting his glass to his lips for a sip, even as Tommy smirked at him.
After a moment where Tommy’s smirk didn’t waver, Joel sighed, glancing up at his brother with an annoyed, “What?”
Tommy shrugged, leaning back in his chair as he lifted his own glass for a sip.
“Nothing, nothing…” Tommy brushed off, and Joel shook his head, deciding to ignore his brother’s cryptic smirk until the younger man spoke again, “I mean, you gotta know that the ladies around town are curious about you, right?”
“Shut up,” Joel replied bluntly, taking another sip of his drink as Tommy let out a bark of laughter.
“Come on, I’m being serious!” Tommy grinned, leaning in to rest his elbows on the table, meeting Joel’s unamused expression with one of pure entertainment at the topic. “Maria has heard them whispering, especially after your little date with Esther. They think you’re hard to get, and some see that as a challenge.”
Joel scoffed, shaking his head again as he glanced away from Tommy’s gaze as it became curious at Joel’s quick dismissiveness.
“Well, they ain’t gonna win that one,” Joel found himself muttering, his grip tightening around his glass as a familiar face flashed through his mind, and he stiffened before taking another large sip of his drink.
When he turned back, Tommy had only grown more curious, but Joel cut off whatever his brother was about to say quickly as he asked, “So what exactly are we doing recon for tonight, baby brother?”
Tommy scoffed, muttering an annoyed “pendejo” under his breath, though his tone was affectionate before his gaze sweeps across the room.
“Ah,” Tommy exhaled, a satisfied smirk spreading across his face as he looked back at Joel, gesturing with his head in the direction of whatever had caught his attention as he muttered, “at your three o’clock.”
Joel’s frown grew, suddenly feeling uncertain at Tommy’s clear smugness as he followed the direction given to find whatever his brother had been looking at.
And when he saw it, his entire body tensed up, grip tightening around his glass as his blood ran cold.
Joel didn’t know what he had been expecting to see, but he certainly hadn’t expected it to be her.
The crease between his brow deepened as his eyebrows furrowed, gaze flickering over the small scene that was almost unnoticeable in the grand scheme of the bar that night; but now that Joel’s attention had been brought to it, he couldn’t see anything else.
Her back was almost completely to him from where she sat at a small table diagonally opposite from their corner in the bar, holding a similar glass to his own in her hands, her gaze focused on the person opposite her. There was a small smile on her face as she nodded at something they said, her legs crossing under the table, the movement drawing Joel’s attention to them, and he froze.
Joel’s gaze slowly dragged up her bare legs, to where the skirt stopped just above her knees, and he felt a sudden flare of an emotion he never thought he would feel again at the sight.
He quickly looked away, straightening in his seat as he glanced back at his brother, thanking God that Tommy was too focused on the pair himself to catch Joel’s reaction.
It’s not like Joel hadn’t known it was coming; she had told him about the situation she had gotten herself into the next night they had been together, after that early morning he showed up and broke part of their first rule by fingerfucking her in broad daylight.
Neither of them had mentioned the slip-up in their carefully followed rules, or the near disastrous situation of somebody almost finding them like that, until she slowly brought up the consequence of their actions.
“So, uh…” she had hedged as she leaned back, hands placed on his chest as she rode him on his couch, the words coming out between quick breaths, “I’m going on a date.”
Joel had paused, his hips no longer rolling to meet her movements, hands tightening their grip on her hips as his gaze shot to her and he grunted out, “What?”
She shrugged—actually shrugged, like it was the most casual topic in the world—as she rolled her hips faster, earning another grunt from Joel, but his tight grip on her waist didn’t falter as she replied, “Well, Tommy—”
Joel groaned out of annoyance, running a hand down his face as he muttered through it, “Please don’t mention my brother when my dick is inside you.”
She had the audacity to chuckle at that, the sound breathless and sending shivers through Joel, and he parted his fingers on his face to glare at her through them.
“Okay, well,” she huffed, sliding her hands down to find better leverage on Joel’s torso as she began to bounce on him, and Joel nearly lost himself in just watching her like that. His eyes were glued to her breasts through her thin t-shirt, wondering how they would look if they were bare when she bounced on him, before her next words brought him sharply back to the topic again, “somebody came in after you left. They saw your mug and—”
“What?” Joel interrupts harshly, pushing himself up to a sitting position so he could catch her eye.
The new position made him grunt though, his hand finding the small of her back to steady her as she also moaned at the new pleasure this pose caused.
“I—fuck, hold on,” she gasped as she reached her hands up to place on his shoulders, adjusting herself until she slammed back down on him, hard, and when she nearly cried out from it, he knew she had found just the right spot for him to hit her with each thrust in.
And, God, she looked so fucking gorgeous when she was completely coming apart from it, but he needed answers.
So Joel reached up, wrapping both arms around her waist to keep her still, eliciting a glare from her when she looked down at him.
“Joel—” she shook her head, digging her fingers into his shoulders through his shirt, her glare hardening further as she tried to move again, but he wouldn’t let her. She finally stopped when he didn’t budge, letting out a huff of, “Seriously?”
“What does he know?” Joel said in a hard tone, his gaze serious, and she sighed.
“Not much,” she shook her head, pushing her hair from her face, Joel’s eyes following the movement of the strands falling into place before he snapped them back to her face. “I told him it was casual. He doesn’t know it’s you.”
Joel snorted, shaking his head as he muttered, “Well, that’s comforting.”
She rolled her eyes, sighing as she smacked him in the shoulder. “Relax, would you? I agreed to this date so it would get him off my back.”
Joel’s eyes darted between hers, searching for any deceit in her words, even as a voice in the back of his mind was asking why he didn’t want it to be a lie.
“That’s it?” the words slipped from his mouth quietly, before he could stop them.
Her gaze was locked with his, a look he hadn’t seen before wavering in her eyes as her breath escaped her in a soft exhale. She watched him for a moment longer, Joel’s nerves increasing as she did so, before she finally nodded once.
“That’s it,” she confirmed, and Joel let out a breath he hadn’t known he was holding.
“Alright,” he murmured, moving his hands back to her hips, and she let out a sigh of relief, starting to lift herself up on him again.
“So can we please get back to—fuck!” she interrupted her own words with a gasp as Joel bucked up into her, hard, finding that same spot from earlier that drove her crazy, and he continued to hit it relentlessly until she came with his name on her lips.
Joel tore himself from the memory back to the present moment, blinking rapidly as he looked in front of him to see that Tommy was still watching the pair with a smirk on his face.
“She finally let you set her up, then,” Joel found the words slipping out of his mouth, and he cursed himself for it, lifting his glass to busy himself with drinking so he wouldn’t say anything else stupid.
“Yup. She had to, once I finally got her number,” Tommy said confidently, leaning back in the chair and draping his arm across the back of it, his stance casual and confident.
Joel looked back at him, finally lowering his glass. He knew exactly what his brother meant, but he saw the opportunity to find out just what Tommy’s theories were, so he could keep the second rule maintained. “What do you mean?”
Tommy took a long sip from his glass, looking far too smug for Joel’s liking, and he finally began to understand what she had meant when she had thrown the ‘stupid, smug Miller look’ accusation.
Finally, Tommy lifted his glass to gesture towards her with it, and Joel’s gaze flashed back to her, his hand on the table clenching into a fist as he saw that she was still smiling.
“She’s been seeing someone,” Tommy said simply, and Joel’s eyes widened a fraction at the unexpected word choice as they flashed back to his brother. “For a few months, apparently. She denies it, but…”
He trailed off with a shrug, looking back to meet Joel’s gaze just as the older man managed to put his guard back up, revealing no hint of how much the words had thrown him off.
“How'd you figure?” Joel asked, forcing his tone to remain neutral, his posture casual as he watched his brother’s expression closely over the top of his glass.
Tommy only smirked before cryptically replying, “I have my ways.”
Joel tried to suppress the chill of trepidation he felt at that response. He told himself that it was fine, that Tommy hadn’t caught on to the fact that Joel was the one seeking her out.
If Tommy had figured it out, Joel was sure his younger brother would be jumping across the table by now to strangle him for fucking his closest friend.
“I think she likes them, though,” Tommy spoke softly, and Joel had to lean forward across the table to hear him clearly over the loud conversations surrounding them in the bar.
The words caused a strange feeling to stir within Joel’s chest, but he ignored it for the time being in favor of continuing his line of questioning, caution be damned in that moment.
“Why do this, then?” Joel asked, jerking his chin towards the table where she sat. Her head was tilted to the side now, her chin resting in her hand with that small smile still on her face, and Joel’s stomach twisted unpleasantly before he looked away again.
“Well, either it’ll weed them out…” Tommy started casually, glancing around the room as if he expected to find whoever was the culprit of capturing her attention when, unbeknownst to him, that person was sitting across the table from him now, “...or it’ll confirm my suspicions.”
“Suspicions?” Joel repeated in confusion, glancing back to the man seated across from her, and Joel’s gaze shot back to Tommy as he said in disbelief, “What, Mike? You think she’s been seeing Mike?”
Tommy shrugged, looking over at the serious patrolman who was seated across from her now, a rare smile over the man’s face as he talked to her.
“Well, he’s kind of a hardass, which falls in line with her type,” Tommy chuckled, and Joel stiffened as he looked back down at his cup.
“I suppose based on whatever her…” Joel trailed off, hesitating as he turned the glass in his fingers, “...previous relationships are, you’d know best.”
“Relationships?” Tommy repeated with a laugh. “No, no, she doesn’t do relationships.”
Joel’s brow arched as he glanced back up, his attention now fully captured.
“I only know from her flings,” Tommy explained, waving his hand dismissively. “I know she’s had a few here and there, but she doesn’t pursue anything serious. She’s goddamn stubborn on that matter. Probably left more than one broken heart in her wake”
Joel slowly shifted his attention back to her at the words, his gaze moving along her body as that old familiar feeling stirred again at the revelation that she’s had flings here in town.
When was her last fling? Joel found himself wondering, his grip curling around his glass tighter and tighter as his line of thought continued. How recent was it? Who was it? Did he know them? Has she had one since they started their arrangement?
“Yeah, she likes them too serious for their own good,” Tommy sighed, pulling Joel’s attention back to his brother, and he quickly loosened his grip on his glass as he realized he was starting to hold it so tight that it was close to fracturing. He lifted it for a sip right as Tommy’s next teasing words hit him out of nowhere, “You know, like you.”
Joel choked on the alcohol, coughing loudly into his fist as the glass clattered back down onto the table. He looked back at Tommy in surprise, fear flooding his body as he wondered if Tommy had actually finally put two and fucking two together to figure it out, but he was merely laughing at Joel’s expense in a way only a younger sibling could.
“Relax, I’m fucking with you,” Tommy finally managed to get the words out between his cackling, and Joel scoffed as he sat back in his chair with a hard glare. “Hell would freeze over before you two stood in the same goddamn room together by choice.”
Joel’s gaze flashed back down to his cup, a frown flickering onto his face even as he muttered, “Yeah.”
Tommy’s laughter came to an abrupt halt after that, the man quickly shifting in his seat to face the other way as he hissed under his breath, “Shit, look away.”
“What—”
“Look away!” he repeated in a harsh whisper, staring at the opposite wall, and Joel shifted with a frown.
Despite Tommy’s urgings, Joel did what any true older brother would do, which was the opposite as what their younger sibling told them to do.
Glancing back at the table, he saw her gaze was honed in on them, and Joel quickly shifted, his head whipping around to face the opposite wall with Tommy after making eye contact.
“Fucking hell,” Tommy mumbled, glaring at Joel from the corner of his eye as he accused in a harsh whisper, “you looked, didn’t you?”
“Shut up,” Joel hissed, glaring daggers at the wall ahead of them, both their bodies turned away from her table as much as they could, but surely it was pointless.
There was no doubt that she had seen them now, and Joel was sure both he and Tommy now dreaded whatever hellfire she was about to rain upon them for snooping on her date.
Joel half-expected her hands to come slamming down on their table any moment, her glare deadly as she faced them down from above, but nothing happened.
After another long moment, both brothers shifted awkwardly, glancing at each other nervously before looking back towards her table.
She was gone.
And so was her date.
They began looking around the room, trying to figure out where the pair had gone, when Joel caught a glance of the fabric of that goddamned skirt flaring out from the corner of his eye.
He shifted slightly, following the movement to where she was striding towards the doors, not looking back once as she exited the bar with Mike’s hand on her upper back.
Joel’s blood had run cold by the time Tommy sighed, and he didn’t look back at his younger brother as the man mumbled, “Well, she’s gonna have it in for me for at least a month, now.”
Yeah, Joel couldn’t help but think to himself with a wince, even as his stomach continued to twist uncomfortably while he stared at the now empty table where she had been sitting, smiling, drinking and laughing in a fucking skirt on a fucking date.
Yeah, that probably made two of them.
You sighed heavily, slamming your door shut behind you before reaching your feet up to begin pulling off the stupid shoes you had worn tonight.
“Heels,” you muttered to yourself, pulling one off by the ankle strap and letting it fall to the ground in your entryway before shifting your weight onto that foot to pull the other shoe off. “Fucking heels. What was I doing?”
Given, they weren’t that large of a heel, only an inch or two. But you had pulled them out of the back of your closet anyway, the place where you had buried them when Dina had given them to you as a birthday present—although she also had to guess the date, just like Tommy—last year.
The heels would have been enough of a statement, but you just had to go and wear the stupid skirt too.
You groaned, rubbing your temples to try and stave off a growing headache as you walked barefoot down the hallway towards your kitchen.
Why had you even done it? Why had you gotten so dressed up? You had been dreading the date enough, you didn’t have to make such a big deal out of it.
Maybe you had wanted to convince yourself that you could do it. Convince yourself that you could shave your legs, wear pretty skirts with heels and go on dates.
You slammed your drink cabinet closed after pulling a decanter filled with whiskey out, pulling the stopper out and taking a large drink.
But why now? Why were you trying to do those things now, when you had never given a fuck before?
You collapsed on your sofa, kicking your legs up on it to rest your feet on the other end as your head leaned back against the armrest. Staring up at the ceiling, you took another long drink from the decanter before letting out another sigh.
“God fucking dammit,” you muttered, running a hand down over your face and smudging the lipstick Dina had convinced you into letting her apply before you went out tonight.
That was probably the reason. When you had let slip to Dina that you had a date, the girl had been so excited that she was practically shaking. She had persuaded you into letting her help you get ready, so that’s all there was to it. You were making her happy.
Still, the headache wasn’t easing, so you took another drink.
And another.
And another.
With a groan, you turned onto your side. Your vision was starting to get a bit blurry if you moved too fast, but you were still coherent enough to think back on how stupid you had probably looked tonight.
It’s not like you hadn’t expected the…audience, for lack of a better word. In fact, you think that in the back of your mind, you had been counting on it.
When you had told Joel about the date, there had been a hint of…something. A look you hadn’t seen in his eyes before, glinting behind his careful, cold exterior. A crack in the armor. A chip in the walls between you.
Some part of you knew that deep down, you had wanted him to see you like that. Even if you would never admit it to anybody, least of all yourself, you had wanted to see that crack grow, to take another chip at that wall. To see what may be hidden behind the stoic calculation in his dark eyes, to hear an undertone in his words, loud and clear.
You wanted his reaction, his…
His what? You think to yourself with a self-deprecating scoff. Jealousy?
God, it was stupid. So fucking stupid.
What would he have done? Would Joel have stormed over and pulled you away? Would he have taken you home with him instead of another man?
Did you want him to?
You shook your head sharply, clearing the question from your head before you could panic over a subconscious answer. It didn’t matter now. Clearly he didn’t do any of those things.
And now here you were, looking amazing and getting drunk on your sofa.
Alone.
Your eyes landed on the familiar framed drawing on the fireplace mantle across from you, and you let out a quieter, more somber sigh as you gazed at it.
Eventually, you push yourself up, rubbing your face again as you mutter to the drawing, “You’d be proud, Little Star. Got all dolled up tonight.”
Reaching down to rub at a callous that had begun to form on your heel from the shoe strap, you grew even quieter as you mumbled to yourself now, “Didn’t do me much good, though.”
You were about to flop back onto the couch and probably drink until you passed out when a sharp knock sounded, and you shot up in an instant.
“What in the—”
You began to mumble to yourself as you glanced towards the front door, when another knock cut you off, and you realized it was coming from behind you. Stumbling to your feet, you took a moment to steady yourself, placing the decanter on the coffee table before heading to your kitchen, towards the back door where the knocking was originating from.
The window on it was covered by habit from receiving your nighttime visitor, and your heart thudded against your chest, hand shaking as you reached out for the handle. You took a deep breath, composing yourself enough to fall into your usual armor of confidence wrapped in a barbed wire of snarky cynicism as you swung the door open.
If you were a more sentimental person, you would’ve sworn your heart stopped when you saw him standing there.
But you weren’t, so you didn’t. Still, you froze, eyes widened as you glanced over Joel. He leaned heavily against your doorway, his hair a mess and a light flush dusted across his cheeks.
You were sure you were imagining that last detail, so you blinked rapidly, expecting your vision to clear so you’d see the regular stoic-faced Joel standing in front of you.
When you refocused on him, you realized that he was still as stoic-faced as ever. If anything, he was actually glaring at you right now.
But that slight pink to his cheeks was still there.
“You gonna invite me in, or stare at me all night?”
You snapped out of whatever stupor you had fallen into with a scoff at his blunt rudeness. Your eyes narrowed into a glare, stepping to the side and gesturing dramatically for him to enter.
“After you, Mr. Miller,” you drawled sarcastically, watching him stiffen considerably at your words before stepping into your kitchen, and you let the door close behind him.
You turned to watch him as he paced further into the kitchen, keeping his back to you as his hands clenched and flexed at his side. Your head tilts, gaze dragging over his tense shoulders as you realize that he almost seemed…restless? Certainly not an emotion you had seen from the calm and collected Joel Miller before.
“There a reason why—”
“What the fuck were you doing?”
Joel’s voice interrupted your question, his tone revealing irritation, and your eyebrows raised in surprise as you rolled back onto your heels at the sound of it.
“Excuse me?” you asked, your voice betraying your own growing irritation as Joel walked further into the room.
Why the fuck was he so prickly tonight?
Despite your best intentions to keep your friendship as amiable as you could, the way he was speaking and the alcohol pumping through your veins was quickly dissolving your patience.
He rested his palms against your kitchen counter, still facing away from you. It annoyed you further, the way he wouldn’t look you in the eye.
“Your little show tonight.” His tone was almost biting with the accusation, and you bristled at the word choice, leaning forward now as your annoyance quickly turned into anger.
“Excuse me?” you repeated the same question, your voice lower, conveying that he was venturing into dangerous territory.
You had thought your voice was warning enough, but he didn’t stop.
Because it was Joel Miller, of fucking course he didn’t stop once he had set his mind on something.
Stubborn old man, you think to yourself as you can see the muscles in his arms flexing with the sleeves of his flannel pushed up, and you hated the desire that it caused to surge through you just at the sight of his carefully contained strength.
“You know what I mean,” he muttered, his large hands curling around the edge of the counter.
Your nostrils flared at his persistence as you took a step towards him.
“No, I’m afraid I don’t, Joel,” you snapped, speaking his name with contempt, and you felt a sick form of pleasure as his shoulders tensed further at the venom in your voice.
You were getting him as riled up as he was making you.
Good.
“My show?” you repeated his word choice, your voice rising as your anger continued to simmer, each word you spoke feeling like you were nearing a boiling point as you walked closer to him. “What the actual fuck, Joel? You knew about it. I told you what was happening. So please explain to me exactly what my show entailed—”
You placed a hand on his shoulder once you got close enough, and apparently that was Joel’s breaking point.
He whipped around, his hand flying up to catch your wrist, the action cutting you off in the middle of your sentence. With a few large, steady steps forward, Joel pushed you against the wall of your kitchen, your back hitting it as he glared down at you.
His hand lifted to pin your wrist that was still in his grip above your head, his glare not wavering as he met your stubborn gaze with his own.
“Your show was this,” Joel snapped, his other hand wrapping around your knee, pulling it up so the skirt fell back to expose more of your skin. “Wearing this slutty little skirt and flashing that coy smile at another man, like you didn’t know exactly what you were doing.”
Your breath caught in your throat, eyes widening as you stared up into Joel’s intense gaze.
“Another—”
“Acting like you wanted him,” Joel continued as if he hadn’t heard you begin to speak, his voice lowering to almost a snarl, his chest almost brushing against yours with each heavy breath he took. “Walking out of there with his hand on your back, like he could take you home. Like he could fuck you and leave you satisfied.”
Your breathing became heavy with each word he spoke, a familiar desire coiling in your stomach, but there was something else growing. Another heat, a different intensity unfurling between you, and you couldn’t help but lean into it even as you met his glare with your own.
“And this,” Joel breathed out, hooking your leg around his waist before he reached his hand up to grip your chin.
His thumb flicked across your lower lip, and your breath hitched.
Those familiar brown eyes—a color that had become almost comforting at times—were blazing as he looked down at the lipstick that had smudged onto his calloused thumb.
“What were you planning to do?” he murmured, his voice heated as he tilted your chin up, looking down into your eyes.
Your heart was pounding in your chest now, the anger melting from your bones as you began to lean into his touch. Anticipation somehow made you both tense and relaxed at the same time, eyelids fluttering as his rough thumb brushed across your lips once more, his breath fanning across your face.
When you smelled the alcohol on it, you froze.
“You’re drunk,” you muttered, trying to shatter the moment with your words, but you still struggled under the weight of it as he didn’t pull away.
Instead, Joel watched the way his thumb almost slipped into your mouth as you spoke, his own lips parting as he murmured, “So are you.”
A soft breath escaped you.
The words were so similar to those you had exchanged months ago, before you started down this road together. But now you had switched places—you were accusing him this time, warning him—and the situation felt so strangely unfamiliar, so different from the dynamic between you so far that it made your mind spin.
Still, you found enough sense to shake your head, even as the next words slipped from Joel’s lips as a taunt, “Were you planning to wrap these pretty lips around his cock?”
You slapped Joel’s hand off of your chin with your free hand, your other one still pinned in his grip against the wall above your head. Your glare returned with full-force as you snapped angrily up at him, “Fuck you, Joel.”
“I’m trying to get you to,” he groaned, moving his hand that you had slapped back to your leg that was still wrapped around his waist, snaking it over your knee and up your exposed thigh.
Your breath stuttered again, even as your glare didn’t waver.
His eyes didn’t meet yours, though; they remained fixed on your lips, which parted again as you hissed, “You’ll regret it in the morning.”
Finally, his eyes flashed back up to meet yours again, that new intensity simmering between you. He didn’t ask what you meant, but apparently he understood as he murmured, “Why do you care?”
You marveled at the familiarity of the question, the simple question taking you back to the first time you had met him, that winter day when you had placed a hand on his shoulder as he leaned against a streetlight.
Who are you to care?
His voice had been colder, so much colder then. He didn’t know you.
Did he even know you now?
Does the kindness of a stranger mean nothing to you?
You heard your own voice reply to his in your mind, reeling at how much had changed since then.
Was that all you were to each other? All you had ever been?
Just two strangers who met each other in the night, again and again?
But then why is he looking at you like that now?
Shaking your head, you wondered if he really understood what you were trying to say, your heart pounding against your chest.
You also wondered if you even wanted him to understand.
“I want you to still be able to look at me when the night’s over,” you exhaled heavily with the words, the confession taking all your breath with it, and Joel froze.
His gaze flickered back and forth between your eyes, as if he was trying to read you, trying to find something that you weren’t saying.
After a moment of being frozen like that, Joel exhaled, pulling his head back so your faces weren’t merely inches apart, even as his hand remained wrapped around your thigh.
“Just let me fuck you,” he whispered hoarsely, a shiver going through your body as you saw the desperation in his eyes. It was a pure, raw need you had never seen from Joel before. But you held onto that stubbornness, right up until he added in a groan, “please.”
Then you broke.
Words failed you in that moment, so you only nodded, and that was all the permission he needed before he dropped your wrist from his grip, wrapping his arm around your waist to pull you fully against him as his lips descended on your neck.
You moaned, tilting your head back as he pressed heated, open-mouthed kisses along your neck, teeth scraping and tongue swirling against your skin. His hips rolled forward against yours, his erection pressing right against the fabric of your panties that had grown damp during your argument, a betrayal of how much you had wanted him to do just this.
“Fuck,” Joel grunted, continuing to grind against you as he bit down on your neck. You gasped, hands flying up to grab at his shoulders as he bucked against you. “I fucking knew you wanted this. I knew you wanted me.”
A whine left your lips at what the words could also mean, what was left carefully unsaid, as he rutted against you.
Joel’s lips moved up your neck to press along your jawline, and you gasped as your nails dug into his shoulders through his lightweight flannel, earning another grunt from him as he bucked his hips against yours again.
“You—” you gasped, losing your ability to speak momentarily as he slipped a hand under your skirt, pressing his fingers against the damp fabric of your panties so he could really tell just how wet you had gotten. He rubs his fingers over your covered clit, and you moan again before finding the words you had wanted to say, “You’re a bastard, you know that?”
“Yeah,” Joel muttered, his lips finding your ear as he hissed against it, “but that’s your type, isn’t it?”
You moaned again as his hand slipped over your thigh to your ass, giving it a hard smack before he pulled you off of the wall when he took a step back.
His hands moved down to unbutton his jeans, his eyes still on your askew skirt as he murmured, “Were you going to let him into your bed? Let him fuck you in it?”
Your breath hitched in your throat, watching as he slowly unzipped his pants, and you found yourself nodding at the question.
“Yes,” you whispered, even though you couldn’t remember if that was true or not. You couldn’t think about anything other than this moment, couldn’t see anything past the way Joel was looking at you, with a need more fervent than any you had ever seen from him before. “I was.”
Joel actually groaned, his gaze darkening with intent as he spoke in a low tone, “Show me.”
Your brows furrowed in confusion, only understanding what he meant when he gestured towards the back of your house by jerking his chin towards it.
“Show me where you were going to let him fuck you,” he clarified, and your eyes widened when you finally understood his intention.
In retrospect, you should have stopped it there. You could have stayed in the kitchen, or even moved into the living room to fuck.
But there was a new look in his eyes, an emotion that almost looked like passion, and you were helpless to turn that look away as you began to back up towards the hallway that led to your bedroom.
You turned your back to him as you continued down the hallway, your heartbeat accelerating with hot anticipation. Your hands moved down to the hemline of your skirt, starting to shimmy it off to tease him, when his words stopped you.
“Don’t take it off,” he said in a low, commanding tone. “I’m going to fuck you with that slutty little skirt on.”
You bit your lip as the words made your pussy throb, your hand raising to push open the door to your room when you reached it.
The light was off, but you didn’t move to turn it on, and neither did he. You moved in the dark, walking the familiar path to your bed with Joel on your heels, not even bothering to close the door behind you.
You wondered if he was trying to look around your room, but when you turned back to face him, his eyes were fixed solely on you. He watched as you sat on the edge of the bed, crawling backwards on the mattress in a way that made your skirt hitch up, and Joel’s breath audibly caught in his throat before he climbed on the bed after you.
He hovered over you as your head fell back against the pillows, and you found yourself marveling at how different this felt—so much more comfortable, so much more space to move—before his hands slid up your thighs under the skirt to brush against your panties.
Joel stopped, his fingers brushing along the lace edges of the panties, and you swear you saw his gaze flash dangerously in the dark as he stared down at you.
“You wore lace?” he groaned, his fingers curling around your thighs tight enough to bruise and, god, you hoped it did, as he leaned down closer to your face. “Really?”
You shrugged, a smirk growing on your lips as you watched his jealousy grow with sick satisfaction.
“I—”
You broke off, your eyes widening as the thought repeated in your mind, and you finally realized what this was, what Joel was acting off of.
Jealousy.
He was jealous.
This was what you had wanted—for whatever sinful, godforsaken reason—and it was actually happening
Apparently, Joel didn’t even catch that you were about to say something, instead busying himself with the task of pulling your panties down. The black, lacy fabric rolled down your legs, and he groaned at the sight of it brushing along your skin before he pulled it off completely.
“What, no ripping this time?” you found yourself teasing, your humor a deflection from the weight of what you had just realized, eyebrow arching in question before his next action made your eyes widen.
Joel balled the damp fabric up in his fist, pushing it into the pocket of his jeans, the bastard watching you with clear satisfaction as your hips lifted towards him subconsciously at the sight.
“Joel—”
“I should punish you, you know,” he murmured lowly, and you bit your lip, a pleasurable shiver running through you at the connotation behind the words as he began to push his jeans down his thighs. “For what you put me through tonight.”
You laughed breathlessly, brows lifting in surprise as you repeated, “What I put you through?”
Joel paused his movements, placing his hands on the mattress and leaning forward so his lips were beside your ear, his breath fanning against it as he murmured, “Do you have any idea how it felt? Seeing you from across the room, helpless to do anything but watch you smile and laugh so fucking easily at another man’s jokes?”
Your breathing became heavy, eyelids fluttering as that term—another man—appeared again.
There was the same jealousy in his words, yes, but something else; that new intense heat, and you placed your hand on Joel’s chest, fingers curling around the buttons of his flannel as you whispered breathlessly, “Joel—”
“Fucking hell—”
You paused as Joel cut you off with murmured curses, blinking out of your haze to look down, and you had to hold back a laugh as you saw Joel was struggling to get his jeans off, having forgotten in the haze of his drunken lust that his boots were still on.
“Shut up,” Joel muttered, sending a glare back at you as he had to roll off of you, pushing himself up to lean over and tug the laces on his boots until they were loose enough to pull off.
But you were already laughing, your cheeks hurting from the smile that your giggles pulled from you as his boots fell to the floor beside your bed, his jeans soon following.
“Stop it,” Joel muttered, glancing at you from the corner of his eyes, but a small smile was flickering on his own face as your amusement doubled at his exasperation.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” you said between gasps for breath, wiping at a stray tear that was falling from your eye. “It just kinda ruined your whole dominant thing for a moment.”
Joel continued to glare at you, even with that small smile growing on his face as a few giggles continued to slip past your lips.
“Shut up,” he groaned again, pushing his boxers off to fall on the floor next, and the sight of his fully erect cock being freed from the fabric did effectively shut you up.
“Get on all fours,” he said roughly as he pushed himself up, and your skin heated further at the realization of how he planned to take you before you rolled onto your stomach.
You placed your palms against the sheets, pushing yourself up onto your hands and knees, listening with satisfaction as Joel groaned at the sight. The mattress shifted under his weight as he moved behind you, his hands pushing your skirt up until you were fully exposed, and this time he moaned, the sound long and shameless, just from seeing you like that.
At the unabashed sound of his desire, you bit your lip so hard you nearly drew blood, but you didn’t care at that moment. You were too focused on the way his hands slid over your hips, moving up to your ass to squeeze it before sliding back down to spread your thighs further apart.
Your hands reached up to grab onto the headboard as you felt Joel swipe his dick along your folds, collecting your wetness and making you moan with the sensation.
“That’s right,” Joel murmured, clearly pleased by your sounds of pleasure as he guided himself along your folds again, pushing past them so he rested against your entrance. “You’re going to be moaning my name tonight, darling. Not his. Mine.”
Maybe you would have said something clever in response to that, if it wasn’t for the way that Joel slammed into you without warning, all the way up to the hilt and making you cry out with the sudden fullness.
There was a bit of pain with the thrust, yes, and your grip tightened on the headboard as you focused on breathing through it. Joel didn’t move yet, instead leaning over you, his lips finding your ear as he whispered in a surprisingly soft voice, “You alright?”
Your breath caught at the intimacy of the question, something in your chest squeezing at the surprising comfort of it. You took another moment to breathe, waiting for your cunt to adjust to the size of him before nodding.
“Yeah,” you murmured, licking your lips as you nodded again. “Yeah, I’m good.”
Joel waited for another moment, his lips brushing against your ear in such a gentle way that it made you shiver, before he began to move.
His thrusts were slow at first, almost languid, and you moaned quietly at the feeling of his cock rolling in and out of you. Head tilted back, you began to roll your hips back to meet his thrusts, and Joel moaned, his hand sliding up your back until he grabbed your hair.
He wrapped it around his fist to pull your head back as he began to thrust harder, his other hand grabbing your hip underneath your skirt to hold you in place. Your room was quickly filled with the sound of your bed frame rocking against the wall along with skin slapping against skin, the scent of sweat and sex thick in the air as Joel fucked you with a desperation, a feverish need that you had never experienced from him before.
You were moaning as he picked up the pace, lips parting with heavy pants as he leaned down, biting on your neck hard enough to draw another cry of pleasure from you.
“Say my name, darling,” he murmured after sucking on the mark he must have left on you. Joel’s hand tightened around your hair, pulling your head back further as his lips moved back to your ear. “My name. Mine.”
“Joel,” you gasped, your eyes falling shut as he bucked into you. A groan of satisfaction rumbled from his chest at the sound, and you continued to moan his name with each thrust, spurring him on to pick up the speed even more.
“Good girl,” he groaned, and you whined from the praise, panting heavily as he began to mumble almost to himself, “That’s right, mine. Mine. Mine.”
You could feel the shift in the meaning behind that word as he began to chant it. You could feel the possessiveness in the way he gripped your hip tighter, pulling you back to meet every hard thrust, and you whined loudly at the thought of it.
Being his.
“Oh god, Joel,” you whimpered, rolling your hips faster, searching for friction that you desperately needed against your clit to get you climbing towards your high. “I need—”
Joel’s hand slipped from your hair, your head falling forward suddenly as he dropped it, and you nearly cried out again just from the pleasure of his fingers finally finding your clit. He knew exactly what you meant, exactly what you needed, expertly playing with you in a way only he knew how.
“Fuck, yes,” you gasped, losing any coherence as your back began to arch, the combination of his hard, steady thrusts with his fingers rubbing quickly against your clit hardly leaving you any time to breathe before your orgasm.
You couldn’t remember what had happened in that moment for the life of you, but you think you might have screamed when you reached your climax. Hell, you might have even screamed his name, but there was no way to know as you were helpless to do anything but ride the intense waves of pleasure as they rolled through you.
Your entire body trembled as you leaned heavily on your arms, trying desperately to keep yourself up as you felt Joel grab your hips, pulling you back to meet his thrusts as they became unsteady, and a tired smile grew on your face as you knew exactly what it meant.
“Joel—”
“Mine,” he interrupted you in a hoarse gasp, and whatever teasing words you were going to say died on your lips as he suddenly grabbed you, pulling you up so your back was pressed against his chest, his lips pressed to your ear as he groaned, “You’re mine.”
Your breath hitched in your throat, your mouth falling open as you found yourself at a loss for how to respond, but you didn’t have to.
A moment later, Joel grunted loudly as he pulled out, his release coating your inner thighs. You stayed in his tight grip, pressed back against his chest as it rose and fell with heavy breaths that you could hear clearly from where his mouth was still pressed against your ear.
When his grip finally loosened on you, you slumped forward, collapsing onto your bed in the quivering mess that he had made you. Joel leaned forward, catching himself on his hand before falling onto his back next to you. He continued to try to catch his breath, and you did the same from where you turned to lay on your back.
You stared up at the ceiling, and even though it looked the same as always, it felt different.
This felt different.
Joel shifted beside you, and you half-expected him to be getting up to leave when you looked over at him. And, hell, maybe he was, but he froze the moment your gaze landed on the side of his face.
You let your eyes trail down his side profile for a moment, over his strong brow and the sharp slope of his nose, before you looked back up at his eyes, even as he stared stubbornly at the ceiling.
“What, no urge to run off into the night, cowboy?” you tried to tease, wincing when you felt how hoarse your throat was.
Jesus, how loud had you been?
“Do you want me to?”
Your attention was brought back to the man lying beside you at the words he drawled, your brow furrowing as you glanced over his face again. He was still staring at the ceiling, but when you remained silent, he finally turned his face slightly to glance down and catch your gaze.
Joel’s eyes searched yours, looking for an answer that you didn’t have.
When you offered none with your words either, and the two of you remained quietly lying next to each other for a moment, Joel pushed himself to the edge of the bed with a sigh. You watched his back as he leaned over to grab his boxers before you turned back to gaze at the ceiling again, so that you didn’t have to watch him as he got redressed.
Your chest tightened as you told yourself that you shouldn’t have let this happen. You shouldn’t have let him convince you to move into the bedroom.
This was a mistake.
Fucking hell, you had even stopped him from ki—
You closed your eyes, trying to block the world out as you heard the bed creak when he stood back up.
This is exactly what you didn’t want to happen. You didn’t want him to run out into the night again, like this was a crime. Like he did something wrong.
Like you were wrong.
After he left the room, you turned onto your side, facing away from the spot that he had left.
I want you to still be able to look at me when the night’s over.
Your own words taunted you cruelly within the dark confines of your mind, and you took a deep breath in, trying to calm the emotions that started to rage inside your frame—begging to be freed, begging to be felt, for once.
The only thing that pulled you out of internally chastising yourself was the brush of rough fingers against your shoulder, and you looked back over that shoulder in surprise to see Joel staring down at you.
“Why the face?” Joel asked, his brow raised as he glanced over the poorly concealed shock on your face from the realization that he was still there. “What, you really thought I was running off?”
Your mouth opened and closed a few times, trying and failing to find a response. Eventually you settled on your old, familiar crutch of dry humor.
“Well, you do have a bit of a track record.”
Joel snorted quietly, but he couldn’t argue with your point. Instead, he patted you gently on the leg and murmured, “Come on, turn over.”
A confused frown spread across your face, but you did as he asked, turning over to face him as he sat on the edge of the bed. Only when he lifted his hand did you finally notice the damp washcloth in it, and your breath caught in your throat as the warmth of the rag touched your thigh.
You stayed silent as Joel began to clean your legs. He kept focused on his task, as diligent as the time you had watched him clean blood and grime off your skin. You kept your gaze on his face, flickering over it as you tried to catch a glimpse into what he was thinking in that closed-off mind of his.
“Why did—”
“I don’t—”
You both stop abruptly as you had begun to speak at the same time, looking at each other in faint surprise before a laugh slips past your lips. It was almost a gentle sound, unlike any laughter you had had in a long time—if you ever did have laughter that sounded like that—and the furrow between Joel’s brow smoothed out at the sound of it.
He quickly looked back between your legs, finishing his task of diligently cleaning you up before he pulled the cloth away with a quiet huff.
“I don’t…” Joel tried to start again, rubbing a hand over the side of his face as he appeared to struggle to find the words. A rare sight from him, and you slowly sat up as you watched him finally find them, “I don’t know what came over me. I—”
He stopped again, moving his hand over his eyes to rub at them, and you chuckled quietly.
“You were drunk and horny,” you try to dismiss with a wave of your hand.
Of course, you didn’t know why exactly he had gotten drunk—even though you started to have a theory—but you decided not to pry.
In fact, you were trying to do the opposite of prying. You were trying to give him another out, an easy excuse to leave now and not look back.
Why did you always do that?
But when Joel finally looked back at you again, a look of determination in his eyes that you had grown to recognize from the man, you realized he wasn’t taking it again.
Why did he always do that?
“I just wanted to…” he trailed off, shifting awkwardly before finishing quietly, “...apologize, I guess.”
Your eyebrows shot up at that as surprise flooded you at the apology, quickly followed by confusion.
“Apologize for what?” you asked, shifting slightly so you were leaning closer, trying to catch his eye when he looked away again. “Joel, we do stuff like this all the time. It’s a kink. It’s hot. It’s not a big deal.”
While it was a kink, and it was hot, the possessiveness definitely was not something you did all the time.
And, in a way, that was a big deal. It dealt a blow to this strange relationship you had, shaking the foundation in a way nothing else had before.
This was new territory you were in. The grounds your relationship was on had shifted yet again.
You went on a date. Joel got jealous.
You had sex unlike any you had had before, in your bed.
It was the second rule you had broken in just under a week. The first rule of ‘only at night’ was broken when he had fingerfucked you that early morning a few days ago, and you didn’t even know what to make of that.
And now there was this. A blatant violation of your third, and arguably most important, rule.
Glancing over the way Joel’s face was scrunched up in thought right now, you guessed he didn’t know either.
But he wasn’t running away like he always did.
Neither were you.
And that…that meant something, somehow.
“It’s just…” Joel sighed, rubbing a hand along his thigh, and you looked at the scars on his knuckles that had begun to heal over again after he had rescued you. “You’re not a possession. Or a slut. You never were, even when we started…all this. And I—”
“Joel,” you interrupted with another laugh. It wasn’t a cruel laugh, but rather one of surprise, drawn out of you without a choice as you glanced over his face, realizing that it wasn’t scrunched up because he was just in thought.
It was because he was nervous.
Something in your heart warmed at the sight, and you quickly glanced down to fix your skirt so that you were completely covered up. You didn’t care if Joel saw you exposed like that—he’d seen it plenty of times before—but you were feeling almost…vulnerable in that moment, and you wanted to get rid of that unfamiliar emotion as quickly as you could.
“I know that,” you found yourself saying in a voice softer than you had known yourself capable of. Your face was still downcast, gaze fixed on your skirt as your fingers played with the hem. “I mean, I know you know that. It’s not—”
You sighed, brushing a hand through your hair, pulling away from the strands in mounting frustration as your fingers got caught in the tangles Joel had caused from grabbing it.
“It’s not a big deal,” you finally repeated quietly, twisting your hands in your lap, avoiding Joel’s gaze as you finally felt it focus on you.
For one moment, you were both silent in the darkness of your bedroom, Joel watching you as you avoided his gaze.
“That’s the third time you’ve said that.”
Joel’s quiet remark pierced the stillness, his words finally pulling your face up to glance at him in surprise. He wasn't just talking about tonight—he was referring to the moment you hadn't dared to talk about, when you had treated his injuries.
“Is it true?” he murmurs the question, his dark eyes fixed on yours.
The brown depth of his gaze was shining in the moonlight that filtered through the cracks in your curtains, and your breath caught in your throat.
Different answers, different excuses, began to race through your mind. You tried to settle on a reply, but none felt right. None of them felt enough like the truth or a convincing enough lie.
So eventually, your mouth opens to admit in a hushed tone, “I don’t know.”
Joel’s gaze searched yours, but for what, you didn’t know. When he glanced away, you wondered if he had found it, or if he had given up trying.
“I don’t know either,” he replied just as quietly after a moment of you wondering, and your heart thumped in your chest loudly before your gaze darted away from him.
While you remained quiet, your mind was racing so quickly you almost felt dizzy with the thoughts rampaging through it. Most of them were incoherent, a mashup of many colorful curse words directed towards both him and yourself.
When you felt the heat on your face, you lifted up your hand, pressing the back of it to your cheek to feel the warmth there. You rubbed at it subtly, trying to get the blush to go away, even as you knew you were probably just making it worse.
Clearing your throat, you turned back to say something to Joel, to try and brush it all under the rug like you usually did. But you found yourself at a loss for words, your heart leaping into your throat as you saw he had already been looking at you.
You swore in your mind again, mortified that he may have been watching you the whole time during your inner panic.
“Can we just—” you stop with a sigh, throwing your hands up in the air in exasperation before trying to find the words again, “can we just move on from this? Like—”
You cut yourself off again, shifting on the bed, arms crossing over your chest as you avoided his gaze.
“Like nothing ever happened?”
You turn back at his offer, relieved that he had found the words that had escaped you. A sigh of relief escapes you, and you nod, even as your arms tightened across your chest.
Even as a part of you wanted him to say no.
Joel opened his mouth, then closed it.
“I can swear at you, if you like,” you finally found your snark again, leaning heavily into the defense mechanism as you let a smirk cross onto your face. “We can have a huge argument, watch it all blow up in our faces. That would make it easier, wouldn’t it—”
The words died in your throat, your breath leaving you in a surprised rush as Joel reached out to you.
He brushed the back of his fingers against your cheek—gently, more gentle than you would have ever expected him capable of, at least with you—before he tucked a stray strand of your hair behind your ear.
“I don’t know,” Joel murmured again.
His thumb brushed against your cheek, against the scar that lay there, your heart skipping a beat at the feeling. He seemed to hesitate for a moment, his eyes searching yours, his gaze almost…uncertain.
For a moment, you wondered if he was going to do something…more. You didn’t know what, exactly, but it caused your heart to thump in your chest as your gaze locked with his.
Joel's hand twitched, his rough, large palm grazing against your cheek, as if he was going to lay it there.
Then he pulled back before it could happen.
The silence that fell was not as tense or awkward as those that had fallen between you before.
But it was something different.
Fragile, you realized silently as Joel shifted, his eyes still locked with yours—still as wide, still as haunted by things unspoken.
It was fragile.
When you finally looked away from him, you did it slowly, as if not to shatter this delicate moment you had both found yourself in. You cleared your throat gently, grabbing the fabric of your skirt tightly as you searched for what to say now.
What the fuck could you say now?
“I, uh…” Joel cleared his throat, shifting to face away from you. “I guess I should go.”
You swallowed thickly, ignoring the small voice in the back of your mind that began to chant a single word quietly in response.
But it wasn’t a thought you could acknowledge consciously—at least, not yet—so you found yourself nodding instead.
“Yeah,” you murmured, unclenching your fist to smooth out your skirt in your lap. “Yeah, probably.”
Still, Joel paused for a moment, almost as if he was waiting for something.
Waiting for you to say something.
But you didn’t, and so he leaned over to grab his boots from where he had discarded them, pulling them back on before slowly rising to his feet.
Your eyes flashed to him as he walked away, his back to you as you watched him exit the room.
You listened closely to his footsteps echoing down the hallway.
You brushed your fingers across your cheek, tracing the movement his own fingers had made as you heard him sigh in the kitchen before the back door quietly closed behind him.
Finally, you collapsed against your pillows, staring back up at the ceiling the same way you had before.
But again, it was different.
So different.
Your fingers danced over your cheek again, eyes fluttering shut as you let yourself believe that maybe you hadn’t both fucked it up for good this time.

c!wilbur with crutches post revival because he’s still weak from yk. literal death
REAL!!!!
realistically like someone else said post-limbo cwilbur wouldn't actually be a functional human being (given that his situation is literally impossible for a person) but he needs to be for the story but i think there should still be a level of like. He would have issues . lots of them. More than pre-death .
and i don't mean just like "oh i am sad because i didn't talk to people for a while :(" i mean that he would make himself sick scarfing down food just because he completely forgot the sensory experience of eating, then throwing it all back up because a) his stomach didn't handle food for thirteen years b) he has lost all ability to judge how full he is or what his body needs.
like you said i think he'd be much physically weaker, if only just from essentially sitting on his ass for over a decade. i think his eyes would also be MUCH more sensitive to light — i mean he was literally in darkness the whole time apart from the light of the train announcement board (no trains were ever announced). he'd get terrible migraines, which is where the headcanon i saw floating around about the red glasses being for headaches comes in!!!
and don't get me started on the touch starvedness. i think like i mentioned he's lost so much ability on how to read his own body that he doesn't even fully understand that it's physical affection he's craving — he just kinda feels a black hole inside of him but its been eating at him for so long he doesn't even realise it's there. he doesn't remember not being this cold and shivering no matter how many coats and blankets he wears. (tw SH mention later) i think he'd be misguided and try to fix the problem with warmth - blankets, jumpers, sitting by the chimney, and when that doesnt work, putting out cigarettes on himself.
in general he's in constant need of SOMETHING, of stimulation, to feel that he's alive, and here it needs to be burning hot to fix how cold he is but of course it doesn't work, it's not what he needs, but he doesn't know how to recognise that.
i think he'd also have a lot of trouble with sensory input because he'd be in a constant state of oscillation between being over- and under- stimulated.
on one hand, the absence of sensory input (beyond that of the train station) would create such a NEED for him to FEEL the world, to feel the grass and the sun and the warmth and see colours and taste and touch and smell things.
on the other hand, that very deprivation that creates that want would also have made him much more sensitive to it. essentially, the lack makes him need it and also be hurt by it. Yeah its a whole ride
#sorry you triggered a ramble there#i have many many many thoughts about post revival cwil#alex.rambles.txt#alex.asks.txt#c!wilbur#mcyt#tw self harm mention
