Sonic X Shadow Generations fascinates me. Because it feels like something I shouldn’t be excited for. And yet I absolutely am.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Sonic Generations. It’s my third favourite game in the series and my favourite 3D Sonic game (with Sonic Adventure 2 in a close second). I’m very happy to see it getting a re release to expose it to new audiences, and playing it in 4K60fps on my PS5 is a very enticing. Likewise, I really like Shadow as a character and I’m excited to play as him again.

And yet, his new bonus campaign promises to basically be a bunch of nostalgic pandering for Shadow the Hedgehog, a game which I consider to be, simply put, crap. It was boring, dull, colourless and embarrassing trend chasing. And pretty much everything I hated about it is on display in this trailer.

We’ve got gritty, grey cityscapes, we’ve got the rather blah alien villain, Black Doom returning, we’ve got the looming return of the series’…bafflingly executed lore. In a word, Shadow was a pretty much everything I didn’t want Sonic to be shoved into a blender. I’ve given my thoughts on revisiting past excesses and failures for the sake of nostalgia. I wrote a whole thing about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and my fears that it would go overboard pandering to the 2000s spin offs (which I dislike a for lot of the same reasons as a lot of Sonic stuff from the mid 2000s). A faux attempt at maturity that sacrifices Sonic’s camp and colour, and lacks the writing competency to make its tone shift work is pretty much my worst case scenario for the series. And now we’re invoking that for nostalgia? Again, I should hate this.

So if I dislike Shadow the Hedgehog so much. If it really is so emblematic of Sonic’s worst excesses that I want it to leave behind in the 2000s…then why am I so damn hyped for this? Why am I not feeling the same dread as whenever VII Remake implicitly threatens to bring back Genesis?

I think it’s because of the specific relationship Sonic has had with its past for the last decade. So much of the stuff from that time period is material that Sega has seemed actively scared to touch again. Sometimes with good reason. But I think that’s why some material from that time has gained such a strong nostalgic cult following, and why they’re held up as such bastions of missed potential. There’s never been anything quite like Shadow or 06 since they came out with how safe Sega has subsequently played things. And in many respects, that’s a good thing. But I can see how it build a sense of mystique around them. It was kind of sad to see 2010s Sonic so…scared of itself. Terrified to invoke its own history but not really committed to a new direction either. And this is pretty much the exact opposite of that hesitancy.

Basically, the reason I react to seeing Westopolis or Black Doom with ‘holy shit let’s go!!!’ rather than ‘why, god, why?’ is because I genuinely never thought I would see them again after this long. It’s just exciting to see Sonic Team throw caution to the wind and embrace all the parts of their franchise. Even the parts I personally dislike. Plus, Sonic Generations is kind of the perfect game in which to reimagine that stuff and make it..actually good this time. This was the game that made Crisis City of all things into a banger level. The game that took Silver, one of the most notorious boss fights in the series, and gave him a kickass encounter.

If they can fix that, they can do anything.

Plus, the fact that the trailers already show all these trippy stage effects and anime af boss fights and set pieces tells me we’re not just gonna be running through the same drab washed out burning cities that made Shadow 2005 so boring. Again, there’s evidently an effort being made to rehabilitate and reimagine this stuff, not just repeat all the same mistakes. And that’s exciting.

So yeah, Sonic X Shadow Generations has somehow managed to get me genuinely excited for all the parts of the series I typically balk at. And that’s pretty impressive.

That said, if I see Mephiles again, I’m leaving.

So y'know how people have all agreed that Ness is obsessed or is interested with the whole missing kids case. But what if it got to a really big point, where he would want to repeat the case.

My idea was that after the movie timeline, Mike would meet Ness in the restaurant and they would keep meeting and eventually fall in love. But, during their meetings Ness would explain and tell Mike about his theories about Freddy's and the whole missing kids case. While Mike would just listen (because he knew Ness was right but not comment). Even though Ness and Mike were happy, Mike noticed that Ness started to get really obsessed with the case, but it wasn't just some small interest. It was getting really concerning.

After a few months, Ness moved away unexpectedly. He didn't tell anyone why or where he was going. His coworkers were surprised and confused but Mike took in the worst, he was in a deep state of depression.

Skipping over to Ness, he got so obsessed with the case he decided to remake the case but make it even better. And that's where the whole Fnaf musical thing happened, blah blah blah puppets Markiplier and Nate. Eventually they caught Ness and put him in a prison then an asylum or something idk. In some point, after years of Mike trying to find Ness, he does. But we'll, you probably can think about how Mike finds out.

So the very real possibility that GMMTV is gonna fuck up the colors as it remakes these Japanese shows has me feeling a certain way that I didn't think was possible.

Basically, I'm being petty. The shows are probably going to be good. The acting will be great. Everything will be amazing, blah, blah, blah.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE COLORS?!

If GMMTV is really making these series based off the written source, the colors should still be there because the mangas were color coded, yet I don't trust GMMTV to do it, at least not as well as the original shows did.

I know we have only gotten pilot trailers so far, but the pilot trailer for Peaceful Property had color coding.

So why didn't Cherry Magic (green x blue)?

If I squint, maybe I can see it in the ties. Maybe?

And why didn't My Love Mix-Up (yellow/orange x blue)?

The cinematographer for Cherry Magic, Job, also did the cinematography for Catch Me Baby, which had good color coding: the pens in their pockets are color coded, and the walls behind them are red and blue, with purple (a mix) in the middle as they learned to work together.

I trust him, but I don't trust GMMTV. It rushes shows. Its turn-around time from the beginning of filming to the air date is wild to me. It has to be difficult for people to be consistent under such time constraints, especially when the cinematographer (lighting) must work with the production designer (props and wardrobe) to make sure the visual storyboard is intact.

So I'm hoping GMMTV nails the color coding for both projects, but until then, I'm going to be quiet and wait for the official trailers to drop.

Then after that, I'll be really petty.

more about Snow White as a character: i think she is a wonderful character and not at all “anti-feminist” or boring!!! she’s just a girl!!! while her age isn’t mentioned in the movie, she’s referred to as “little princess” which obviously indicates that she’s pretty young—she’s a young girl who’s been abused for most of her life yet still manages to be kind and empathetic!!! sure, her primary dream is to meet her true love, but MOST YOUNG PEOPLE ALSO WANT THIS!!! there’s nothing wrong with wanting love or with being sweet and kind!! Snow White first and foremost survived abuse and several near-death experiences (INCLUDING TWO ASSASSINATIONS) and managed to come out kind-hearted! she’s silly and kind and a little naive but also optimistic and a romantic!!!!! leave her alone!!!!

and even saying that, sure she’s from 1937 and very stereotypical—so there’s nothing wrong with adding aspects to her character that make her more modern/three-dimensional! it’s ok guys, you can admit that the original Snow White is not necessarily the best representation of women while also acknowledging how game-changing her movie was AND how Snow White is a wonderful character!!

the kiss can just as easily be changed to a kiss on the cheek/forehead, or removed overall, and the story will still stay the same!! the prince’s love for Snow White is what saved her, and that can be conveyed in a way other than a kiss. for all intents and purposes, they are just two kids in love!!

the prince was not the one who saved her from her evil stepmother—snow white was the one who ran away and made a life for herself, the prince just woke her up and the VERY END of the movie, stop ignoring all of snow’s actions throughout the film for the one (1) thing the prince did at the end.

tldr; Snow White is dated but not necessarily anti-feminist, and Rachel Zegler is justified in how she talks about Snow White and doesn’t deserve all the hate she’s getting.

I’ll be discussing the ship wars that are happening right now in the ahsoka fandom and compare it to how my perception about the fandom war that happened during the sequel era changed with the years). Oh, and I’m going to get into some tangencies that may not make much sense most of the time, so reading this to the end is on your own account. I ended up being a bit cynical too, but not in a mean way, I hope?

I usually give up everytime I start writing an opinion on tumblr, because most of the time I just think my opinion won’t change anything, but the ahsoka fandom got “revived” (not that it was dead, but, well, we haven’t had any new episodes and to an extent the most of us move on to others shows a little until we get new content, like it happened these last few days) and I’ve been thinking about this show all on my own for a while (my friends aren’t really into Star Wars stuff, so they can listen, but they’ll never GET IT like interacting with fans online will). I’m explaining myself too much, but all I mean by that is that by writing this, I don’t intend to add fuel to the fire. That’s why i won’t tag sab//ra, r//lo or mention the ships just because I don’t want to upset those of them that can have normal conversations about media nor trigger those that can’t (which, thankfully, doesn’t seem to apply to all sab//zras). So, if you don’t like Wolfwren, you’ll only see this if you are looking for a ship you don’t like or if you’re invested enough in not liking it to check the anti tag. I’m not judging, we all been there. In fact, I was there during the sequel era, with a ship that is pretty similar in dynamic to Wolfwren. It was also pretty similar to a ship I loved at the time, Catradora, from Netflix’s She’ra. So, yeah, I was a big hypocrite. I still kinda think sapphic enemies to lovers is the superior taste of the trope, but that’s because I’m so profoundly gay it would scare the gayest gay, so obviously the ships I’m more invested in are sapphic. It’s a given. But my point is, now I see the whole R//lo argument from a different angle, that you can disagree with, but I believe is more realistic:

I don’t ship it.

Although it is an illusion to believe our taste in fiction is not related to who we are as people (because blah blah blah capitalism blah blah blah I’m a commie), it is possible to distinguish what we want from two fiction characters and how we expect to meet our partners in real life lmao.

(This next part I’m a bit uncertain of how it’ll be perceived, but I hope it makes sense. Please, both R//los and antis that may or may not be reading this, be patient and try to understand what I’m trying to say.

Yes, Finn was casted aside by Lucasfilm. Yes, K//lo getting a more prominent role in the films played a part in this whole process. Yes, there was a part of the R//lo fandom that was racist to John Boyega. This is also true for the Star Wars fandom as a WHOLE, because there was plenty of shitty dudebros complaining about the same shit they’re complaining today, “woke culture” and all that crap, just because they decided to have a woman and a black man as the protagonists. A decision that most likely wasn’t made by those executives thinking: “Oh, wouldn’t it be so great if we made a few minorities feel seen in this universe many of them really love?”. But it did that.

The Force Awakens came out and, despite being, at the same time, a remake of A New Hope and a continuation of Return of the Jedi, its new characters had SO. MUCH. POTENTIAL. And, limitations imposed by mainstream products made by big corporations and set in galaxies far, far away from ours aside, black people and women felt represented. It is one of the many contradictions of symbolic effect of minorities groups being represented in media produced in the system that oppress them (commie, warned you). Does it change things? No, not really. Isn’t it usually done it a way full of limitations that sometimes reinforce certain ideas that are pretty harmful? Yeah… Kind of… But didn’t it feel great, after growing up frustrated that Leia wasn’t a Jedi in the old movies, to have Rey? Wasn’t it awesome that black people got Finn? This complex (at least, it started that way) defected stormtrooper turned rebel? That could, maybe, even be force sensitive…? Yes to all of those questions! Tricky, isn’t it? By the way, I do believe that (before TROS) Finn had the narrative placement of Han (reluctant hero), Poe had Leia’s (rebel leader that gets captured and literally puts important information in a droid lmao), Rey had Luke’s (lives a boring life but has a calling to the adventure blah blah blah becomes a hero, we all heard it so many times) and Kylo had Vader’s (villain that’ll eventually get redeemed by the hero). All basic, old hero’s journey. A story structure that, despite being critical of, I eat up every fucking time it envolves spaceships and lightsabers. Getting back to the point, representation has its limits but it matters and the Star Wars fandom is full of racist, sexist pieces of shit and there was a percentage of the R//lo fandom that were too. But shipping R//lo isn't, like, intrinsically racist. You can make an argument for the implications of Adam Driver being chosen as a romantic interest (both by many fans and by Lucasfilm) over John Boyega, but at the same time there is, to some degree a level of which trope (friends to lovers or enemies to lovers) attracts you more. For me, it depends. I was a Finnpoe with a soft spot for Finnrey and an anti R//lo. But I’m obsessed with Wolfwren. Guess I like non-menacing men and evil lesbians. Wonder why Ezra Bridger is my favorite Rebels character and I ship Wolfwren. 🤔

Going back to the “Opinion on R//lo checklist”:

Would I like to meet my future partner by being kidnaped? No, not really. Do R//lo shippers want that? I think it's pretty safe to say they don't, even if they joke about it as much as I do about wanting Shin Hati to stab me. Because, ohh, right, it's a fictional movie about spaceships, galatic wars and space wizards. Yeah, I totally forgot about that when I was younger.

So, shipping R//lo doesn't mean you condone abusive relationships or domestic violence or whatever. Same applies to Wolfwren. ‘Cause, like, they aren't in a relationship yet, they’re not even friends or allies… They're on opposite sides of a war. You’re supposed to try to kill each other. Some people are just intrigued by the tension/dynamic between two characters and some others are just attracted to the characters and want to read about them fucking, and if it upsets you enough that you need to try to annoy people into stop shipping it… you need to rethink your relationship with fiction. I’m saying this because I had to do it, too. I went on with the mob and statements I agree to this day got mixed up with a bunch of nonsense and I thought that by being anti R//ylo I was making a statement, I was fighting against the romanticization of toxic relationships. I wasn't. It’s like that Luca Guadagnino’s film, “Bones and all”. Canibalism as a metaphor for love has been explored in multiple ways, by multiple artists in paintings, films, novels… Does it mean all the people who produced and consumed those works want to eat human flesh?

There’s also different ways of shipping an ETL ship. I love Wolfwren, and, in fanon, I don't mind it getting super angsty and fucked up, Killing Eve style, but I also love it when it's a slowburn romance with them going from enemies to reluctant allies to slowly building a friendship and falling in love. Do you see the range? Shipping is also about imagination, about overanalyzing things, about wondering what could character x possibly bring to character y? If Wolfwren ever does become canon, my perfect scenario would be the slowburn one, though I’ll love every second of them fighting and stare into each other's eyes until then.

If you ship S/b/rza, it doesn't mean you're homophobic. Unless you, well, use homophobic rhetoric to hate on Wolfwren and/or its shippers. This homophobic rhetoric can also be an attempt of being (hate to use this word) “woker” than the person shipping a gay ship and saying the queer people shipping Shin and Sabine are actually reinforcing lesbian stereotypes. Triste me when this is not the hot take you seem to think it. Maybe try researching a bit about queer representation in media, queercoding and the hays code era. Or try to put yourself in our shoes. As I stated above, representation has its limits but it matters and increases our ability to connect to the pieces of fiction we're consuming. In my case, as much as I can enjoy it, there's always gonna be a degree of alienation when it comes to “straight people media”. That's why I headcanon characters as sapphic. Because I am. That's why autistic people headcanon characters as being autistic. Same goes for trans people and other minority groups that do the same. So, in the end, it doesn't really need to be canon and even after today I’m still not that hopeful, ‘cause, again, it's Disney. If anything, there's always a possibility that, if Shin lives, she ends up being paired up with a random dude just so people can't call her a lesbian (this has never, ever, stopped a lesbian before tho lol). I'm guessing whatever happens with Wolfwren won't affect what happens to S/b/rza. I may be proven wrong in the future but I think they closed that door in the show, at least for now. Filoni doesn't seem that interested in writing romance to me, especially this time around. We are yet to see physical or romantic attraction being even remotely alluded to in this show. (S/b/rzas interpretation of Sabine's motivation to find Ezra or my interpretation of the tension between Shin and Sabine doesn't change that). It's a pretty sexless show (and I’m not saying they should have explicit sex on a Star Wars show, but George Lucas didn't shy away from romance and showcasing attraction and romantic love). I believe that's why he made sure to “discard” S/b/rza, despiste knowing it was a relatively popular ship in the Rebels fandom (obviously it doesn't stop anyone from shipping it, but it is an indicative of how Filoni intended us to perceive their dynamic). You know what I mean? Wolfwren happening or not, being or not supported by the cast and crew, doesn't change anything for your ship. And to be really honest, it is kind of funny to me that some people feel threatened by Wolfwren. ‘Cause, like, even if Filoni wants to make it canon, in the end it will be up to Lucasfilm and Disney to allow it or not and the best they gave us so far is Velcinta in Andor. Hello Anon, thank you for the ask. I'm not sure if you're asking about merely his looks, personality, or what. I do believe he is a beautiful man inside and out overall. I remember the first time I saw him on in 2009 via that Friday the 13th remake. I said to myself weirdly enough "I'd love to date him, but he'd never like me". After I finished the movie I forgot he existed (a whole 13 years, heh the irony) until 2022 because my sister's guides a couple summers ago wouldn't shut up about the show SPN until.... mine told me to start watching the show. I was more drawn to Jensen/Dean's character I will admit. However, I've learned more about both of them. When I went to Charlotte last year for the con, I felt Jensen's energy was very off and found myself looking at Jared instead, which I found very strange.

I think that Jared needs to be challenged both spiritually and mentally. Yes, he's had his mental health struggles he's spoken about and has his Always Keep Fighting campaign he does, which adds to his beautiful heart and personality. However, something I find he lacks is a spiritual connection. I believe that his lack of experience with the divine or anything "Supernatural" has put him in an interesting position. I haven't heard of him speaking of his connection to "God" or anything spiritually related. He seems a bit uncomfortable with calling signs, well, signs per what he said in his chapter in that book "Family Don't End with Blood". To be specific, I'm talking about the tidbit seen in the page below when he says he doesn't like to talk about signs, their place (or lack thereof) in his life, what they do or don't mean to him, etc.

The way he worded things suggests to me he either is agnostic despite growing up catholic apparently, or he's lost his faith along the way. I personally need to be with someone who is spiritually connected or is willing to become more intuned themselves. I think he wants to be but is unsure. I am willing to bet money some of this goes back to what that palm reader said on a blind date about becoming wealthy but that his love life will suck and wondering "can we switch that?"

I've also elaborated on these points below here, but I'll say some it it again in this post too.

As for the arrest, don't care at all about it. I've seen WAY worse fights end in no arrest. Only pansies get upset about THAT joke of a so called fight. It isn't the greatest thing to hit someone but guess what, shit happens. Apologize and move on, pretty simple really. I didn't really like how he claimed he was roofied. Where are the toxicology reports showing this? Because it didn't happen... honestly Jared, just own up to it, don't make up stuff about it and move on. Again, pretty simple. He made it a bit more complicated than he needed to in my opinion. He panders to other people too much at times and that's just not necessary. Grow a bit more of a spine and say no more.

Contrary to the people pleasing tendency of his, I didn't love reading about his doxxing people in customer service. It's one thing to complain online, it's entirely something else to post photos of the people involved. I think one of the girls he complained about took her page down due to death threats being sent her way. He certainly didn't think through his actions thoroughly. For someone with his intelligence level and general caliber, I expected a lot more out of him.

I spoke before about how a girl I went to school with wrote cruel things about me on a MySpace bulletin board years ago that got around the school. I wrote to her on Facebook a few years ago saying I forgive her and that I wanted to make peace with her, blah blah blah. About a year after I sent that back in 2021, I found out that in August 2022, she had to get her leg amputated from the knee down and almost died in surgery twice. Words do hurt and can come back around to bite you in the ass. When I read about the doxxing people Jared's done in the past, it did pit a bit of a bitter aftertaste in my mouth seeing this below. I hope this is a way of saying he's learned his lesson on doxxing people and has changed for the better. As the psychic guy said to me and it's 💯 true, higher powers will only allow so much to happen from black magic and such based on someone's karma like car accidents and whatnot (like the one he was in back in April 2022).

there are, i would say, three reasons people make gifs: to participate in the community, to keep a visual archive of their hobbies, and for the satisfaction of gifs coming out super prettily and lovely to the eyes. when it comes to giffing this kind of tv content, it's easy to nail the first two but the third? half of the shows are low quality "hd" ripped from youtube, not 1080p hdtv blah blah, so it's so hard to make anything that actually, truly looks spectacular, so you have to have other motivations apart from the satisfaction of decent photoshop skills to keep going (and i only became about 40% decent maybe 5 minutes ago anyways) >.<

How did your stories get their names?

Warning, a lot to read for this one haha!

Wiccar Briar 🌿 was actually a creature I made for an old RP. It was this wooden deity like things and I thought the name was cool. Had vines and roses on it. (Wiccar - Wicca - Witchcraft / Briar - Roses)

I needed a story to really keep me distracted and I made this massive fairy-tale story and I loved the name Wiccar Briar so much and it really fit so I picked that!

Knell 💉 (it practically means Death Bell) use to be the name of an old OC of mine that was a remake of the FIRST male OC I ever made (who originally was named Isaac). But the character was scrapped as time passed. As I was creating Knell and it's characters due to my depression plummeting so badly, I wanted a name that had meaning due to it being a therapy story, and when you're truly depressed you think of death a lot sadly. As I was creating the story, the name of the bell you hear at someone's death had a lot more meaning to me for this story. Plus it is a thing with the Hospital and Church!

Nightlight 🕯 is an older story to WB and Knell. It is a fantasy story about myths, legends, story book characters, cryptids, etc. Characters and creatures that are familiar all around the world, but my take and concept/story of them! (I'm a big history buff and I love researching a ton of things!) Anyway, Nightlight was a very clever idea for me I'd say. Children and sometimes adults use night lights to keep them from the dark, or what they might be afraid of in the dark. Well, their city filled with creatures and other nonhumans, they have a big Lighthouse that holds a barrier around the town and protects them from the outside world. Hence the name, Nightlight.

Under an Ivy Crown 🗡 is my medieval fantasy story (I looooove medieval stuff) and it's about a faerie girl named Wren who gets kidnapped by a horrible king for her gold blood. Straight forward easy story, and she is the "Queen of faes" blah blah. Under an Ivy Crown just fits since her crown is Ivy around her antlers. :V Not too clever but sounds pretty lol.

Witching Hour 🗝 is a story even older than Nightlight, and I wasn't as clever about it's title haha! Everything spooky happens at the witching hour, when the veil is thinnest, etc... Well this story is about demons, tree gods, monsters in a 1920s city, an end of the world demon, and a lot of witches and wizards. :V So I thought I was a clever cool kid and called it Witching Hour, cuz most of the activities of all these characters happen at night.

As for Not Dead Yet 🚬, it was mainly a placeholder name till I thought of something better, but people ended up liking it. I was okay with it till a stupid show popped up with the same name, but people don't seem to care and still like it so it became what it is haha. I suppose the name is more related to Jasper considering he's a bug (cat) that is very hard to get rid of and squash. He ain't gone yet, bay-bee. :V

Im all about plotting, and while i have a few basic plots, id love partner feedback to help build something really cool! Whether thats AU, pre-game, post-game, canon divergence, nsfw or sfw, anything is game.

Conversationally im pretty lax (obvs) but while rping i do need someone at least semi-lit. I only rp in paragraph format (sorry, its just the only style im comfortable with). Also, we all have lives and jobs and such, and while theoretically id like to be able to respond several times in one day, that doesn't usually happen lol. On a low day i might not reply at all, or just once (though this is not common, and i will do my best to let my partner know if it’s gonna be a day like that). Short term or long term is fine, im not picky.

I tend to be friends (or at least friendly) with my rp partner(s), so if its okay I’d like to make a server just for my partner and i to rp in so we can have different channels just for chatting/plotting/rping whatever. Im totally cool with doubling up or both of us playing multiple characters. I know ashley is pretty integral to leon and luis, so i have no problem being her for a scene or something as needed. Same thing with characters like chris or claire, ect. I dont mind taking the role of leon or luis, i dont have a preference– this will be the first time im rping either of them (though ive been rping in general since i was, like, eleven) so the first few replies will be a learning curve for me regardless of trying to get their personalities down and whatever.

I'm gonna approach this from the assumption that you're not super well-versed in farm sims just bc I have literally no other way of telling otherwise and that seems like the safest assumption to make to ensure proper information and blah blah blah

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is the current-generation remake of the games Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life, and Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life (Special Edition). Why and how is it a remake of three games, you might ask? Back in my day (waves cane), there were separate editions of games in the genre for boys and girls. A Wonderful Life was for boys, Another Wonderful Life was for girls, and A Wonderful Life: Special Edition was for the PS2. This remake consolidates them, including the extra marriage candidate for AWL:SE and adding a new one to balance the potential marriage candidates by yassifying an existing character.

Generally speaking, the Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons games are farm sims! This means you can expect gameplay to look like this: You inherit/buy/wash up on/etc. a farm and take over as the new farmer, typically in a sleepy small town which may or may not have a Plot Problem For You To Solve during your time there. You grow crops, raise animals, and woo someone in the town to marry them and have a family while accomplishing The Plot! Usually, the general message of the game shakes out to be something about the peace of rural life and slowing down in spite of the world speeding up around you. There are exceptions to this rule: in Innocent Life, another game in the genre that was a spinoff of the pre-schism Harvest Moon genre for the PSP, you're not human and there's no dating elements and the focus is more on exploration and helping the town than on your farm, for example!

A Wonderful Life is also, marginally, different. See, A Wonderful Life was intended to be more true-to-life than other games in the series had been up until that point. This is why seasons only last ten days and a monster lives in the woods behind your house. Previously, games in the series were just as straightforward, with some key differences: buy a calf, raise it up to adulthood, and that cow will give you milk for as long as it lives. In A Wonderful Life? You had to breed the cow for it to begin producing milk, and after about a year, it would need to be bred again or else it'd stop and just take up valuable space in your barn. As I understand it, this is changed in the remake, but I haven't played enough to dig into exactly how!

Anyways I'm rambling due to the Autisms™. What I mean to say is, farm sims are about community and cozy, easy living. But typically, you don't grow. The community you live and farm in may grow, as either the goal or byproduct of the Plot (Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands and Island of Happiness), or it may stay static, endlessly (Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town and More Friends of Mineral Town). You almost always have the option to have a kid, but typically, that kid grows to a certain stage and stays that way forever. (Notable exception, Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility and Animal Parade, where your kid grows up and then you play as the kid)

In A Wonderful Life, it's about the kid. The mechanics are centered around raising the kid, and how your choices affect theirs. If you don't get married and never have a child, the game ends. You leave the valley and return to the city. If you do marry, the chapter ends, and we fast forward to when you have a little toddler (?) running around. Who you befriend (including who their other parent is), how you care for your animals and plants, the things you show your child and the attention you pay them shapes their development. It's about life and birth and death and development and growing up in the countryside. Most importantly, it's about training your dog to perform a 6 foot vertical leap on command.

this is by no means trying to be a rant post but i just needed a different perspective on this issue so to speak. i got into an “argument” (one sided tbh LOL) with an ashleon shipper (which…. is whatever… ig…) and they were saying that ashleon is canon in re4 remake and i was like how ???? they were completely mischaracterizing aeon too. so im just really confused bc before i became a hardcore re fan and was an outsider so to speak, i just assumed that leon and ada were an “item” bc thats how they have always been portrayed. and then i go on here and retwt (eww) and ppl do not think that AT ALL. ppl think ur crazy for thinking aeon is a canon thing. i just feel like im missing a puzzle piece all the time bc its like … i thought it was pretty obvious? and its so hard to hear the other side on these conversations bc they are so rude and judgmental and dont want to have a civil conversation and hear the other side. so i just wanted to get ur perspective on this issue and why ppl might not automatically think aeon is a thing bc i really like ur takes on aeon as a whole! this also isnt trying to be negative or a shitpost, i just want to hear a different positive and ig “constructive” perspective on this!

i just feel like because the ship is "not conventional" it gets a lot of backlash, particularly because the female character doesn't adhere to social norms and gender roles. and typically because aeon falls into this category, people are quick to tear down ada because of it
