I think what really gets me about the puppet history plot in season 7 is the mixture of humor and seriousness in how Ryan is supposed to act.

Yes the whole thing is serious but also humorous. Like in season 5 the whole Ryan getting kidnapped but he's tied to a chair by a comically huge rope that's present maybe in cartoons. On a meta level it's Shane going there and not caring what happens and then we see the bts of Shane pupetreering and looking at Ryan smiling having fun.

Likewise in season 7. There's partying but also a murder was committed. But the death is not serious at all (The Shane character being overdonely cool almost a carricature of himself from the overdramatised "I'm old so death is coming" to the 20 or so pencils on his desk.) but the repeated "he was Shot in the street like a dog" is also meant as something not serious. The memorial site is mixed with sincerity and jokes and even the joke about part two arriving.

The only thing being treated seriously so far is Ryan ghost hunting for him. Like yes on one hand Ryan not coping well, forgetting but when it truly matters he gets serious and makes the prof remember even calling him the greatest historian (a mirror of Shane saying countless times that Ryan is the bravest ghost hunter over the years). On one hand "what would you do if i died? Acf it out but take it seriously despite the situation being not serious. It's like. Yeah even my death is a joke but your belief in ghosts isn't.

I think it shows great respect that Shane has for Ryan. Ghosts arent real in our world. But they might be in the one I created. Act seriously if that happens.

Apparently. You can only tell his “pirate” theme by the font of his name, that’s literally it along with the X and dots. Unless that’s his power, either way only time will tell.

Otherwise if Spindlehorse didn’t do this poster hyping up Vassago, many would understandably think Vassago is at least a rockstar performer.
