SHU SAKAMAKI

Though not the most well-informed, he's far from being an idiot. He was already suspicious when you either faked eating during dinner or attempted to force the food down your throat. It was painfully evident. And when he found you bent over a toilet, retching out the remains, that was all the proof he needed.

Shu can't force you to do anything and he's aware of that, but he will still encourage you to do so. Frankly, he'd rather not have you starve to death due to your own stubbornness. Shu will follow you to hell and then bring you right back. He'll even try to play therapist and listen to what kick-started your god-awful eating habits.

“Haah, what a piece of work. You must really want to give me a heart attack, hm? Learn to rely on me, don't make me worry so much next time.”

REIJI SAKAMAKI

Out of all his brothers, Reiji will be the most understanding. Most of the Sakamaki has very limited knowledge involving the human body but he does not. After plunging his head in many books on the matter, that much should be clear. Thus it's likely you won't have too much trouble confining in him because of that.

There's no need for you to go hungry in any way while living in the manor. Despite how annoyed he may come off, Reiji is willing to go through all the potential solutions to lessen this burden on you. However, he does still remain the same in some aspects, threatening to punish you if you don't put forth some effort to eat.

“I've noticed your eating habits have become rather strange. Very well, I will create a new diet for you to regain your strength. It would be best that you follow it.”

AYATO SAKAMAKI

Unfortunately, he's pretty insensitive to things like this. He has no knowledge of mental health (though having plenty of his own) so Ayato won't try to act as he does. He'll probably say something terribly ignorant or even try to shove food down your throat, then turn around and wonder why you're so pissed at him.

It will take someone to smack some sense into him so he understands the severity of it. Even then he lacks the sentiments to truly comprehend what you're going through. But realistically, he'll probably push it off onto Reiji in the end. Of course, he cares, but such a "detailed" condition isn't his forte.

“Geez, just how long were you planning on keeping this from me? You belong to 'yours truly', and it'd be such a pain if you get any weaker. So rely on me, got it!”

KANATO SAKAMAKI

This is the last person I'd want to be stuck with in a situation like this. He's an absolute idiot on things like this, hands down. (I hate Kanato) In his mind, dolls don't have to eat so you must be perfectly fine, right? Expect you aren't a doll, nor a vampire at that so, of course, you need to eat.

As the days go by you grow noticbly weaker with no desire to do anything but wallow in your despair. Only then did he begin to take things seriously. The triplet has the most insufficient approach ever, it's not even comforting. Kanato will attempt to feed you and then get mad when you reject it. Despite his apparent concern, I highly doubt it'd make up for his thoughtlessness.

“You've grown so weak...Uu...why won't you talk to me? Uu...Don't you care for my feelings? I won't allow you to die on me; you can't leave me! I'll make sure of it!”

LAITO SAKAMAKI

He knows what an eating disorder is as Laito's been with his fair share of women. But that doesn't mean he's educated on the matter. Laito notices your standoffish demeanor right away, carefully eyeing you as he immediately puts two and two together. Yet, he won't act on it until he can find the root of your eating disorder. After all, we must start from the source~!

It'd be a shame if his favorite toy grew terribly ill so he offers to help you. Spending several hours arranging a new diet for you, feeding you small portions, and certainly boosting your confidence in the late hours of the night. Though he doesn't show it, Laito truly cares for your well-being and will do just about anything to ensure your recovery.

“You've been looking at your reflection for quite some time, little bitch. Have I not been tending to you enough~? Fufu, that won't do! Shall I fix that for you~?”

SUBARU SAKAMAKI

Once he found out about your eating disorder, Subaru loses it. His anger is in some way directed at you for not telling him; but also at himself for being so clueless about it. As you'd expect, his first course of action is intimidating you into eating, but a quiet whimper will stop him dead in his tracks. This calls for a different approach.

Subaru looks to Reiji for guidance, which comes as no shock. The vampire is in no place to be taking care of a human in any mental aspect, regardless of them being his lover. Even with this newfound information, it will do very little to decrease his snappiness towards you. But he's just worried and sure as hell doesn't wanna lose you!

“Don't push yourself too much, alright? Tch, 'worried?', it's not like that so shut up, damnit! I just...don't want you to leave me in the dark anymore...”

Little Employee

(chapter 1 fanfic is already here finally.)

Chapter 1: Infiltration

As Yui is enjoying her conversation with her fellow worker, a sudden commotion is happening in the club.

When the girl got curious to see what it is, she felt the same fear when she sees the very same group who tormented her.

Ayato, the third son of Sakamaki brothers, begins to threaten everyone. Bodyguards were beaten up; one is almost getting choked to death. The violent vampire is getting impatient.

"WHERE IS SHE?!" He roared.

"I'm here!" Yui rushes in. She doesn't want the vampires to cause any more harm because of her.

Remembering the sport that her boss taught her, she pulled out her handgun.

"PUT HIM DOWN, AYATO!"

In a blink of her eyes, she felt strong hands grabbed upwards by the angry vampire, causing the gun to blow up. People screamed and panicked. 

"You think you can fight me, idiot?" He laughed, and pushed her hard to the floor.

Yui looked up, all eyes of Sakamaki brothers are on her. She noticed that Subaru, the youngest one, cannot look at her further, and moves his eyes away.

How stupid of her. She should have listened to her boss.

"Remember dear, your new heart is still under developed. So make sure to avoid any sort of trouble, okay?" 

The rest of the brothers are clearly enjoying the sight of her in pain and humiliation. Though, Ayato scrunched up his nose and told her with irritated voice, "You smell weird, pancake. Did they do something to you?"

"It doesn't matter." The second son, Reiji, intervened. "We have her now. Let's leave this wretched place."

"No, all of you leave this place! I AM NOT GOING!"  Yui told the brothers off in determined tone.

This caused the vampires make various reactions, but she knows they feel insulted.

"You're ordering us now? And who said you can deny us?"

"I DO."

An ominous figure appeared behind the girl, much to the vampires' shock, disgust and awe.

"Gentlemen...Gentlemen. Please let us not cause anymore chaos into my club, shall we?" He greeted the brothers with his polite smile.

Ayato, whose eyes are fixed to the mysterious entity spoke, "W-who are you?"

"Ah, silly me! I am the owner of this nightclub. You may call me Mr. Dealer." He puffed out his smoke for a bit and added, "How about we have a nice little chat at the moment?"

The Sakamakis didn't respond.

"I'll take that as a yes, then." The Dealer made a toothy sharp grin. 

"Except for the humble guests... EVERYONE, OUT." His voice echoed around the club.

People began scrambling away, some goes through the fire exit, some jumps out of the windows, some directly runs to the employee's entrance. The female co worker of Yui took her hand, pulling her to get away from the club. The fifth son, Laito, witness them and begins to go after Yui. 

"WHERE ARE YOU GOING, LITTLE BI--"

His chase got cut off when he felt a huge hand grabbed his body, stopping him to go further. The Dealer is not harsh on him, but giving him a hint to not resist.

"I believe this is a better place to chat." The club owner gently puts down the shocked young man to the floor, and puts the hat to the guest's head in a friendly manner.

"Now then, why don't we start? Would you like me to gather seats for you? Beers? Cigars? A bite to eat?"

"No thank you. We won't be staying here for long..." Reiji said in a polite manner as possible. Shu (the eldest) noticed how the tone of his brother's voice changed a bit. For the first time, he felt worried.

"I see..." Mr. Dealer replied. "So, what exactly brings all of you he--"

"WE WANT HER!" An abrupt, straightforward response from Ayato himself. "GIVE HER BACK TO US!"

The club owner shook his floating head.

"I'm afraid I cannot do that. You see, Ms. Yui has signed a contract with me. She will be working for me for quiet sometime."

The vampires couldn't believe what they've heard. She give herself up to this ball of freak?! Most of the brothers were seething. How dare she left them over this monstrosity? Was she not grateful for living with them in the luxurious mansion? Compared to this garbage of a place, they imagine that she will be used and---

"I understand... Losing someone as important as her can be upsetting. She is a kind and compassionate girl." The Dealer said.

Subaru winced at that comment. He knows that is not the only main reason why he and his brothers are after her.

"But I can guarantee you... She will be well taken care of. And besides, she seem to develop quiet a liking towards this club---"

"THAT'S A LIE!" Another interruption from an angry Ayato. 

"How so?" Mr. Dealer asked, staring blankly at the hot headed boy.

Reiji had to step in before his stupid brother say and do something reckless.

"She is a shy and quiet girl who doesn't know what she wants. That is why we find it unbelievable that she is willing to stay here. We want to escort her back to our home."

"Really?" Reiji felt a chill down his spine when those pair of black hollowed eyes stare at him. "Strange... That is not how she reacted when she sees all of you."

Suddenly, one of the brothers moved forward. Shu cannot handle the small talk anymore.

"You want to know the truth?! We are the Sakamaki brothers, the vampire clan who lives from far from here. We need her as our bride to continue our bloodline." Much to Reiji's noticable a annoyance and anxiety, Shu continued, "Our father planned it all. She is supposedly the Eve of our family. So we beg you, to please give her back to us."

Subaru just frowned. He never seen him show any sort of care towards to anyone but himself; even Yui is just piece of blood to him. He doesn't know if he mean this, or just an act to persuade the strange creature.

"Vampires? Ah...that make sense... No wonder she suffers in constant chest pains. That's why I had to have my doctors get rid of that pesky heart of hers."

"You..did what?" 

 "Some wicked soul is attempting to take over her body, and her heart is the main cause. So in order for her to properly work for me, I've recommended her to undergo heart surgery, which she willingly participated."

The brothers were speechless.

"Oh, you all didn't know? And here I am thinking she gets better treatment back in your town." The Dealer chuckled.

"How is she still alive?" One of the brothers questioned.

"We've replaced her old heart with a new improved one."

"What?!"

Mr. Dealer showed a glass container. Inside is Yui's former heart.  The Sakamaki's sense of smell and desire heightened. So this is why they were so drawn to her blood. 

That heart... It originally belonged to Cordelia, the triplets' mother. (Ayato, Kanato, Laito)

"Here, this is all yours." The club owner handed over the heart to Ayato with care.

"I hope this concludes your chase for the girl, yes?"

Ayato and his brothers are stunned. So this explains everything. They've all been thirsting over her because of this heart. The heart of the so called mother they've despised and killed.

As the heart container is now on Ayato's hands, what will be his reaction?

Will he take it or break it?

I stretched out my left arm toward the box of pictures, which I was going to put in an album. As I did, I lost my perception of depth and the picture I thought I had picked up floated to the floor as though carried away by the wind. 

This time, I picked up the picture with my right hand and stuck it in the album. With that, the album was finished. I let out a small sigh.

It hadn’t been that long since I started going through life with a mechanical arm. It took some getting used to. Even now, it restricted my freedom. 

Still, I never regretted the decision to amputate my left arm. 

That day, she and my brothers had given me this mechanical arm as a present, and it had become indispensable to me–a treasure, really. Even if the four of them were far away, I still felt them with me through this arm. It taught me that I was never alone in this life.

“It’s okay. I know what it means to protect…”

That’s why I won’t make the same mistake again. I knew I would never be forgiven for the sin I committed once before, no matter how much time passed. No matter if everyone… if she forgave me. I deserved to atone.

I knew that atonement wasn’t just about wallowing in all of my past regrets. I needed to move forward. I needed to do whatever I could. That was all I could do to face my fears and repent in this world.

A continued knocking sound reverberated through the room. I felt her presence on the other side of the door, and my face broke into a smile.

“Azusa, can I come in?”

“Yeah, of course…”

Had she just come out of the shower? She poked her head into the room, having changed into her roomwear. I hadn’t said anything, but she sat down beside me.

“Hey, is it okay if I… comb your hair?” I asked tentatively.

She smiled gratefully in return. 

Using the mechanical arm, I slowly and awkwardly opened the duffel bag we had brought from the human world, though my arm was not yet accustomed to these kinds of movements. The bag held many things that were precious to me. 

I motioned for her to sit with her back to me, and her soft hair gave off the fruity scent of her shampoo. Her scent. I wished I could smell it all the time. As carefully as I would handle something fragile, I gently ran the brush through her hair.

“...Eve. I like you…”

When I finished brushing her hair and promptly whispered my confession into her ear, her cheeks reddened. As though her eyes would answer for her, she sought me out, and said, ever so softly, that she felt the same. 

“You know, Azusa… I’m really happy.”

“...Yeah. Me too. I’m happier than I’ve ever been before. I love you, Eve…”

“I love you too, Azusa…”

As if to confirm each other’s feelings, we whispered those words to each other over and over. My heart was overflowing with love. 

I could not dress her in pretty clothes. I could not make delicious dishes for her to eat. No matter how much I thought about it, I felt incredibly lacking compared to my brothers.

But still, the fact that she loved me… was all that mattered. 

If all she desired was for me to whisper my words of love to her, I would do it until she was satisfied. If she was lonely, anxious, and… afraid to be alone, I would stay by her side. I would hug and kiss her… Hehe, although that was just what I wanted to do of my own volition. In any case, I had no intention of letting her go for the rest of my life.

As I embraced her from behind, I trapped her in my arms. I felt her warmth, her quickening heartbeat. It made my heart flutter. It was such a thrilling feeling.

“Promise me… we’ll stay together forever.” 

“Hehe, I’ll pinky-promise.” 

We sat there, smiling sheepishly at each other, and she curled her pinky finger around mine.

“Pinky… promise.”

I could not bear to let go of her when our fingers connected like that. I gently pushed her down onto the sofa… and kissed her.

The gentle light of the moon, which was high up in the night sky of Eden, peeked into the room through the window. It seemed as though even the twinkling stars were wishing for our happiness.

I just saw that you also write about Diabolik Lovers??? Could I request headcanons about what it would be like to date Shuu, Kanato and Subaru? And also about what type of girl they're into? ::0

A/N: A request for my personal top 3 Sakamaki brothers? Of course, you've got great taste.

Shu -Considering he's the brother who's most prone to having pets, I feel like being an animal lovers is a trait he finds desirable in a partner as he would love to have a pet with you someday. -If you already have pets, they are a surefire tacic to wurm into this boy's heart. Sending him your endless collection of adorable snaps of your pets and you, etc, he eats it up. -Because he's incredibly lazy, he wouldn't like extremely tasking dates like a cute hiking trip. Shu's more of the type who'd get hold of your favorite movie or turn on Netflix with you in bed and getting Reiji to make your favorite snacks. -He also likes a girl who's a little playful but not completely hyper. Someone who energizes him a little more and makes him smile, but not one who pushes him too far. -The two of you exchange a lot of teasing comments and casually flirt with one another all the time. "Has someone ever told you that you look sexy when you snore, Shu?" Kanato -I feel like he's into maternal girls. Aside from his creepy thing for his mom, with his childlike tendencies and the dynamic with his brothers, you'd certainly need mother-of-several-young-children levels of patience to deal with the drama. -Kanato loves giving hugs when he's sleepy. He'll attach himself to you like you are his diabolical teddybear. -Surprisingly, he allows you to pick any sort of dating activities though if he doesn't likes it, he'll make you suggest something else. Kanato can be a little indecisive with this, you know? -Kanato also really likes girls that are a fellow 'kidult' like him and share his love for toys and sweets. I can totally see the two of you discussing doll lines, doing face-ups together and dressing up like your favorite dolls together. -The two of you will also go to every annual doll collector events and all the vintage markets. Kanato never expected to have a girl with whom he could go on shopping dates like these and he's excited for them every time. "I hate how we already spent our budget. That fish plushy looked SO cute!"

Subaru -Well, he'd like his girl to be at least be more sane then his mom. Not saying you need to be 100% mentally healthy 24/7, but having a stable sense of reality it necessary. -Bonus points if you actually know a bit about psychology and the consequences of being a KOPP (Dutch acronym meaning Kinderen van Ouders met Psychiatrische Problemen - the English translation is Children of Parents with Psychiatric Problems. So far, I've never encountered an English version of the acronym) -His choice of dates is surprisingly romantic but they're generally low-key. Like cute picnics, far away from everyone where he can just enjoy the serenity and simplicity of the way you make him feel. -He also really wants a girl who supports him, outside of his traumas and family too. Like a girl who encourages his talent for poetry and helps him come out of his shell and be confident in expressing himself outside of violent tantrums. -He loves writing about you, he really does. He actually, after a a sweet friendship, dared to confess with a love poem he sent through a xt message because he knew he'd snatch back the letter and chicken out if he actually wrote it down on real paper. "If only I weren't so craven, I'd tell you all there is resting in my soul, That your voice sounds like heaven And your smile makes me whole"

I would like to hear your thoughts on the DF diaboys routes you have played at this point.

yessir!! under the cut:

Shu: Shu's DF route is an exercise in meeting him where he is. We know Shu loves his family, but we have to understand it isn't easy for him to show it. We're right at the precipice of a big change in Shu and Reiji's relationship, but we have to accept that acting the way Reiji wants him to just isn't what's best for Shu. Yui wants confirmation of Shu's affection for her, but she has to learn that he shows his affection in other ways. It's kind of like this route is showcasing Shu's flaws and you're going, "That's okay! I like Shu because he's Shu!" so I think it's sweet. Take your time, Shu! ...If I had to complain about this route, I'd say that we spend so long away from the other characters that it gets lonely. I guess that's the point, though...I just don't really find all the "hiding from everyone else" scenes very exciting after a while. We could've spoken to Reiji more, and I honestly feel like Shu and Reiji have bigger breakthroughs in other routes, so this one feels like it's missing a big scene with the Beatrix bros.

Ayato: If you had asked me when I had just played HDB and MB, I would have told you, "Never in a MILLION YEARS will I feel anything other than hatred for Cordelia," but well!!! Surprise!!! This one will make you feel things other than hatred for Cordelia, whether you like it or not. I truly understand how the triplets felt when they said they loved and hated her. The situation is too complicated for me to get into it very much here, but in short I'll say that I really liked the direction they took with the plot of this route, and I came out of it feeling like Ayato and Yui took a well-earned step forward. Absolutely loved this one. So proud of both of them. Whenever I play through the DF Sakamaki prologue, it makes me feel cruel if I don't pick Ayato's route lmao

Laito: If you are an angst lover like me then you will eat this shit up. It's an extremely bad time for every character involved. It hurt so good. I had to spend 70% of this route convincing Laito not to kill himself. In this route, Laito discovers a fact about his father that changes his outlook on his entire life, like every single thing about his life, and the performance that Daisuke Hirakawa gives is like.. It's pure art idk what to tell you. Reading this route is not good enough, you need the audio. I was scared, I wanted to cry, and as a triplet lover there were high points too, but my heart ached for the entire route, even through the good ending! I like that even the obligatory fanservice scenes don't let you forget how terrible the situation is! Strongly strongly strongly recommend

Yuma: Alas, I can only give you a super biased review of this one. It's my favorite route because it has so many good Shu/Yuma scenes. This route is our last bit of "Shu avoids Yuma and keeps secrets from him for his own good!" drama before Yuma finally gets the whole truth about his childhood. We get the cute flashback scenes, Yuma gets some awful nightmares and has some panic attacks, there's a little of everything! :D Even Zweig is there and he and Yuma are super cool, and if you know anything about Lost Eden then you know how hilarious that is. Anyway, this all culminates in THE YUMA BEST FRIEND MONOLOGUE which is one of my favorite dialovers scenes, period, because it makes me so happy. It feels soooo good to watch the arson recovery trio...recover from the arson. 10/10. Shuuma shippers, this one is required reading.

Carla: I'm definitely not shaming you if this route is to your taste, but it certainly wasn't to mine :') Most diaboys talk down to you, but Carla talks down to you to such a degree that I started getting offended over stuff I've never been offended about before. Like, "What do you mean you don't like the taste of my blood?! My blood is fucking delicious!" lol. I am not into all the forced pregnancy stuff, I am not into the demon racism stuff, I am not into how often Yui is reminded that she has no family and no one will come save her. I personally found Carla to be unbearable until he collapsed and started the process of dying. Then he got all sensitive and lonely and I was like "ok I can deal with him now." The ending isn't very satisfying either (What do you mean sucking Yui's blood will stop him from dying for now? He's been sucking her blood this whole time and his symptoms got way worse.) and Carla's blood sucking noises made me want to take my headphones off and throw them away (sorry toshiyuki morikawa I respect you so much toshiyuki morikawa) soooooooooo.........I didn't like it. I grew to like Carla around CL so don't be sad if you like him, ok? He's my friend now, but this route is still just unpleasant to me hgfghsdf

Shin: I know I said I hated the forced pregnancy talk and the demon racism plans and I did hate them, believe me, but Shin's route was successful in getting me to like him. I love that they put him in jail and beat the shit out of him, that was such a good scene and I really feel like my tastes are finally being represented lmao. Because it's his introductory route, he's pretty rough around the edges (true for every diaboy—everyone is a huge jerk in their introductory route) but there was still a lot to enjoy! The flashback scenes were fun (dare I say...he was...cute?!) and when put together with Carla's, the Tsukinamis have a super interesting story & dynamic together, and it fits the themes of dialovers really well. The differences with Carla's route, to me at least, are that Shin's scenes feel more like "playing with a diaboy" even when he gets mean, Shin has the added appeal of being teasable and of being a BIG FLUFFY DOG, and of course, Shin's blood sucking scenes didn't make me want to die. I'm clearly in the minority here, though, because Shin is at the bottom of every popularity poll I see lol...Anyway, it didn't make me LOSE MY SHIT like some other routes did, but I had fun playing this one!!

My absolute favorite DL characters in no particular order:

🌸 YUI KOMORI 🌸

Never understood the hate towards Yui. Again the anime is a promo for the game and it did not do her character justice at all. The prequel and sequels for some of the mangas did her character justice. She’s a very kind and compassionate person, she’s HUMAN and grew up in a church, she’s a soft girl who doesn’t like violence so y’all can only imagine what this girl has to go thru meeting a bunch of bloody thirsty horny vampire boys, who have severe parental issues and a bunch of other abusive behavioral problems, but she is very patient with each and every brother in all the routes and I love that about her, she’d be a really good therapist too lmao. She’s an Angel, must be protected at all times. I won’t tolerate any Yui hate on this blog.

Poster boy for the entire franchise. A lot of people find him to be annoying, he is annoying and we love his Aries self for that. While Ayato is a menace to society he’s got a good side to him as well and for the most part knows right from wrong, more than some of the fandom gives him credit for. I also really like his character design, he kinda looks like a mean little bat. They give him a lot of cute and playful moments with Yui and I think that’s beautiful especially in a dark themed game series, they have serious moments but also a lot of light hearted moments and I think that’s important to lighten up the mood sometimes.

First off, I absolutely love his character design, the messy long hair and he’s a giant too plus they gave him realistic human hair and eyes to show that he used to be human, maybe I’m thinking too deep on it idk. I absolutely love the identity crisis he had due to his amnesia and the connection with Shu, it brought that twin flame connection back, I love those best friend tropes a lot, his voice actor also is Mako from Free! So I have no choice but to Stan Yuma. Yuma also has a lot more self awareness then the rest of his adoptive brothers and thinks ahead due to his past experiences, he knows that he’s a vampire now but still has a garden for food and has sugar cubes with him at all times, he uses his past experiences and acknowledges that it happened then moves forward he doesn’t dwell on it too much.

He’s a lil creepy, and socially awkward at times but he’s just so relatable sometimes. He’s very soft spoken and he a lil wild with his pain tolerance and some of the out of pocket shit that he says, but I think he’s such a sweetheart, protect him at all costs as well, even his brothers know to protect him at all costs.

🎻 SHU SAKAMAKI 🎻

Shu will forever be my favorite DL boy, he doesn’t like doing anything but can do everything and do it perfectly too. He has severe ptsd, depression, and detachment issues. No you can’t fix him even Yui realizes this and just accepts him for who he is because that’s the only way it’ll work. He’s also hilarious without even trying to be, he says some mean shit at times but it’s so unhinged like damn Shu you don’t have the energy to eat, shower, wipe your ass but you got the energy to completely disrespect all your siblings with a few words. Also his beef with Reiji is somewhat familiar grounds especially if you have a sibling that is constantly irritating your soul. I always felt like I could relate to Shu the most due to him having a hard time getting close to people after losing his best friend, he can’t just get over it either, I don’t like when people would say “oh it happened a long time ago” yes it did but everyone heals at their own pace and it’s important to acknowledge that as well.

The truth got into my eye –

"Yes, humans are certainly fragile. Although,  the thing is — they are valuable to us. You've been in despair, am I wrong? Tell me, Laito?"

Laito has been awfully unlike himself this time. Everyone caught this in the eye but only Reiji had an effort to try dealing with him because he was intimidated by his younger brother sometimes, as he was unpredictably chaotic.

– I don't wanna talk about this girl... I don't know why. After I got with her, I felt that something was changing in me – Laito rubs his eyes, frowning, hiding his face from Reiji.

Both of them went to the mansion's garden, filled with blooming smells of rose bushes. After reaching the live hedge, they stopped in front of the small field, where something like a ditch could be seen.

– Could it be, perhaps... Her grave?

– It is...

– It's unsettling how you left it. Please, make it at least not a hole in the middle of this field.

– I... You see, haah... I wanted to do it... But I couldn't bear it anymore!

Laito stepped aside and completely turned away. Reiji frowned and came closer to the pit. He only winced.

   Yes, it was that young girl, a sacrificial bride Makoto who was sent to the manor a few months ago. She quickly became the triplet's interest due to her appealing look and durable... mind.

Reiji recalled, how he always scolded her for not matching the norms of etiquette or just her loud manner of speaking, but she never failed to appear upset by his words. She was very easy-going and light-hearted, and sometimes her irritating behaviour was even soothing.

She became intimate with almost everyone in the manor in a very short time and it felt as if she always existed there...

Now Reiji was looking into her muted blue eyes which has always been a definition of what lively eyes are. It was a striking sight, although there was no room for sympathy toward a human girl.

– Do you regret that you killed her?

– Now I don't get a thing about what I feel, Reiji.

Two green fireflies have almost burned Reiji's soul with their teardrops. He got an ominous feeling.

– Please, calm down, Laito. If you don't know what's going on in your mind, then try to rationalize it. I see that you are in.. pain, however, you reached me despite the urge to keep everything in secret. Your actions talk instead of you. Then, tell me how did you do that... – And Reiji gave a gaze to the grave's side.

She quickly became Laito's victim as did many girls who appeared in the Sakamaki family.

   Laito was interested in her at the beginning of the assumption that she is the kind of girl who seeks attention. He partially got it. But only partially.

 She was chatty about herself, she was quick-aid and looked like a creature that was always on the lookout for danger.

  "You know, Laito, my uncle never loved me. I was a burden to him and after his death, I still feel he is looking after me. it's like a trace on my soul that he left after he passed away.

The feeling of grief, the regret was eating me out for days after that car accident because I always acted infantile and selfish towards him, I have never behaved. Then I felt my guilt. But you know what? Two weeks passed – and I was enjoying my solitude, playing video games and skipping school.

Am I a nasty person? Am I cynical? What do you think?"

Laito wasn't happy with that frankness. He wasn't in the mood for all of these debates.

"Fu-fu, you really sound shallow bitchy girl, you possess an open mind. But I'm getting bored of you very quickly... Let's have a nice time without those chit-chats... Let me drink your blood instead."

And his long arms wrapped around her body, she was drowning in this weird pleasure, as she was losing her blood but she didn't care for it, because she had nothing to lose. Blood loss didn't make a thing to worry about. Any physical damage didn't bother her anymore. 

"How can I enjoy the moment if I always think about what type of bruise and where I have it? It's unnecessary bullshit! It ruins the whole mood! " – she said once.

"Your body isn't rejecting my fangs, but I hear this lying whisper, begging me to stop. All you women are the same damn sweetest thing..."

"I just want you not to be bored, because I don't want to be unwanted. I don't like this feeling. It's suffocating, you know?"

After those times they both got satisfaction, got fed with each other – he with blood, she with attention, – Makoto didn't want to be quiet. She always wanted to talk with him.

"Tell me about your parents, will you? "

"Huh... But why are you interested in it? I think it's unnecessary to know for you."

"Why not? We're close enough to share the time, I simply want to know you more.."

Laito glanced at her. There was an irresistible willingness to learn. Something ached inside him, he couldn't figure out where exactly.

"Not everything is worth mentioning, my little human girl.~"

He told it as always with a smile on his lips. She grinned in response but not as she usually did it. Now there was arrogance in the corners of her mouth.

A sparkle of tension rushed through his body. "What's with that face?" he wondered.

"Laito, do you know, what type of a person I am? You surely could realize it, because you're so wise. When I appeared here for the first time you said that everything is written on my forehead. You said I must have been quite lonely. And now. Now, what am I to you?"

He smiled again, but his eyes didn't. He was observing her face, trying to stumble up on something... Something that changed?

   He finally caught it.

"How hadn't I noticed this before... This girl wants to know everything, she appreciates only the... "

– "My name means "Truth", by the way! And yours... Laito, yeah? What kanji do you use to write it?" — the sparkle of memories appeared rapidly and disappeared at the same rate.

"She only wants to know the truth."

The vampire bit his tongue. He was the one who enforces on his victims the reality he wanted them to comprehend. Now, what's that? He felt very icky about her statements. And she – she was like she was! Definitely had no fear.

Laito undoubtedly loathed, despised his brother Ayato's directness and honesty that he had, unlike Laito himself.

The young man subconsciously discovered how he was... morally weaker than Ayato, but he accused his brother of it, thinking that it is all his stupid fate to be a scapegoat made those priorities.

This jealousy didn't let him go. And now he had to deal with a woman who resembles his brother a lot. The best thing he could desire is to see how Ayato suffers and now – also Makoto.

"Looks like this human girl is begging me to test her durability. Don't worry, Little Bitch, I'll make you rue this.. I'll make you get down in the very core of agony"

They continued having their time together. Earlier, things were rather promising: she appeared to show some resistance to his actions, yet also didn't deny that her body felt pleasurable from all those teases.

  However, the humility in her, which the vampire could watch over due to her obvious physical weakness towards him, started fading away.

    He began to see something else in her bright blue eyes. From the very beginning, she had an open, bright glance, she rather looked curious but also frightened somehow.

Now there was sort of an audacity and it grinned his gears.

But... he didn't know why actually?

"Weird... I feel so weird when I look at her. As if I'm losing my perception?.. Or worse?.. What's that aching feeling in my chest?.."

He remembered her image, he thought she was pretty... At the same time, he didn't understand what keeps his interest in her: the desire to destroy or to make her his possession.?

"You told me that you know everything about me. How come? Is it the power of vampires? I honestly never thought vampires were able to read thoughts... Tho I didn't know vampires do exist, sorry.

But Laito, I don't understand you... Yet, I want to. Your eyes look like two mirrors, they reflect me in them and plug me when I want to learn about your soul. Why do you do this to me? You see, I want to be closer to you... I have no one to be with me..."

She never told him, that she loves, only likes... Laito was distracted by how that simple person doesn't say simple words, she says something tricky instead, but without any hint in her voice which would mean — she only acts down to earth. But she didn't have those hints.

Once she came to him, looking as if she cried. She couldn't hide her feelings. She didn't even try.

When he saw her red face and looked into her eyes – they became even bluer in comparison to the skin swelled with blood.

"Why are you crying? Tell me, who hurt you?"

He felt concerned but didn't know why.

He held her face with both his hands.

"It's the truth, nothing else." — was heard in response.

Laito clenched his teeth. She looked at him nervously.

"What fucking truth? I don't want to hear this damn word. Tell me who made you cry and I'll cut their head off..."

Makoto gulped, her knees were trembling.

"I asked your brothers... Why are you always acting so strange... I've never understood you... You never wanted to tell me... And they told me what your mother did to y–"

She suddenly felt how his fingertips pushed her cheeks...

Laito grinned atrociously. He tilted his head a little down, closer to her forehead. His cold breath horrified her to the bones.

"Do you cry because you perhaps pity me? Do you think I'm pathetic? Don't you? And you wanted to know all this crap because you wanted to be closer? You just wanted to flare my weaknesses.."  – he talked desperately, he was on the edge of madness.

She leaned her arms around his arms, maybe intending to wake him up from rage with touches.

"I'll drink you to death, till your body dries if you lie to me about what's on your mind. Have you heard it? Now tell."

She sighed deeply, as for the last time.

"Laito... I never lied to you... I value the truth... more than anything else in this world... And I think a person has to know their reality, their fate... And accept this to..keep going further in life... But.. Ayato said, you don't want to hear it, you didn't want to hear the facts... And see... And feel your true feelings... And I also felt that you're not okay with yourself... I thought that a person who can't accept the verity of his own life... can't feel... happiness..."

  Laito was unable to listen to this shit.

"Cut the crap or I cut you instead!" he shouted, then started mumbling something unrecognizable.

He was hurt, hurt again. Everyone tends to hurt him, he can't make up another way to protect his inner world... Everyone likes destroying, humiliating him, they want to break the facade just to prove to themselves that they are so good and so kind.

"You were hurt, Laito... But... I'll be with you... I'll help you to overcome this because I see you in myself, I felt the sa..."

Laito didn't hear. He grabbed her throat, his long fingers pressed on her skin tightly, and he started strangling her.

"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Wither already!"

As she was suffocating, she tried to speak but instead, there were only murmurs. 

"You never take control over me! You never overlord ! "  he yelled.

"I'm suffocating..."

She was done. A huge purple bruise around her neck... Lifeless body. Warm soft skin.

   Laito was covered in gloom. He was crying and didn't feel relief as he expected he would... Seems like he didn't find the solution...He made things even worse.

He dug a hole in the field and put the body in it. He couldn't make himself close her eyes, he couldn't stand this stare.

   Reiji sighed.

"The familiars will bury her properly. And for you, Laito... I doubt I'll satisfy you with any advice."

Reiji managed to leave him alone. Honestly, it was the best thing he could do.

"Reiji... do you have something like a poison? I know you have, I know you have everything in your lab..." his voice still had some nervous echo in it.

The older vampire didn't even turn back. "Good grief. I have to admit, she had the truth in her words. You'd better think about it." he said.

After this accident, everyone felt how Laito acted downcast. However, nobody had the nerve to soothe his pain.

Ayato kept silent, as he probably figured out why the girl was killed...

Laito ignored Ayato for some time but after a few months, he started acting the ae as usual. A new girl arrived at the mansion, a new cycle started...

However, sometimes during the dawn time, Laito visits Makoto's grave. It's nothing more than an unnamed gravestone, to tell you the truth. He sits nearby the grave, sometimes he cries, who knows why, although. Maybe he figured out whom she was to him? Maybe he was up to way accepting his reality? Or he just regrets that he killed her so he would never play with her again?

Only Laito knows that.

“Who cares! Ignore those idiots  Come at nights, Grab my hand and dance  Use your eyes only for me and let's light it up, Your one and only, scorching laser light!”

“Are you sure it was okay for me to come…?” Yui hesitated as they neared Lei’s house. 

“Of course! My friends have been wanting to meet you for a long time now, you know,” Sayo tried to reassure her. “Now is the perfect time.”

“That’s not all…What about the brothers…?”

“Ohh, them. Don’t worry, I left them a note. It said ‘I brought Yui on the trip with me. I didn’t give her a choice so if you’re going to get mad at anyone, get mad at me’.”

That didn’t do much to ease Yui’s worries. “What if they come looking for me…? Didn’t you have to give Reiji an address when you told him you were going on a trip?”

“Yes, an andress. I gave him one that’s far away from where we’re actually going,” Sayo smirked. 

“S-Sayo…!” She was surprised but secretly delighted. “How devious of you…”

“Have to outsmart the truly devious,” Sayo chuckled with a wink. “There was no way we were going to actually enjoy a trip without worrying any other way.”

“I guess that’s true…”

“Feel a little better now?”

“Yes,” she nodded with a smile. “Thank you for bringing me along.”

“Of course,” Sayo grinned. 

It was a bright and sunny day, and the two girls had just walked from the Sakamaki mansion to Lei’s home. Sayo had been invited on a three day trip to Lei’s family cabin in the woods. Lei’s brother, Tetsuo, was taking his girlfriend, Hana, and asked Lei if she wanted to bring some friends along since it was a big cabin. Sayo had asked if Yui could also come along, since the girl could desperately use some time away from the mansion. Lei was more than happy to invite her. And so, Sayo had snuck Yui out without telling any of the brothers. 

Everyone was meeting up at Lei’s house. They would eat an early lunch there before driving out to the cabin. Since there were so many of them, Tetsuo and Hana were each taking their cars to fit everyone. 

“Hey! Sayo!” Someone suddenly called as the two girls continued walking to Lei’s house.

They turned to see Kisa hanging out of her mom’s car window, waving enthusiastically. 

“Hey, Kisa,” Sayo chuckled as the car pulled up beside them. 

Kisa hopped right out, grabbing her bag out from the backseat as her mother lectured her on staying safe while they were on the trip.

“I know, I know, Mom! You know we’ll be fine. Can I go now?” Kisa urged. 

“Troublesome girl,” her mother sighed before chuckling. “Have fun girls.”

The three bid Kisa’s mother goodbye as she drove off. 

“You’re Yui, right?” Kisa turned to her with a grin. “Nice to meetcha! I’m Kisa. Sayo’s told us all about you.”

“U-Um, yes! It’s nice to meet you, Kisa,” Yui smiled back at her. “I’ve heard a lot about you as well.”

“All good things, I know,” Kisa chuckled. “Let’s go! Bet Lei and Emi are waitin’ for us.”

Kisa led the rest of the short way to Lei’s house. Sure enough, Emi was already there. 

“Yui, this is Lei and Emi,” Sayo introduced them once the girls all settled in the living room. 

“It’s nice to meet you two,” Yui smiled. “Sayo talks about all of you so often. Thank you very much for inviting me, Lei.” “Of course,” Lei smiled back. “We’ve been wanting to meet you. I thought it was a great idea when Sayo asked me.”

“And trust me, we both seriously needed the break from our roommates,” Sayo laughed. “Yui more so than me.”

“Who cares!  Ignore them right now  Let’s smile, choose my hand and sing Feel the rhythm with your heart and dance  On this rainy stage, as bright as the scorching light!”

The cabin was a good distance away from the city. By the time they arrived, it was evening. That was perfect for Sayo and Yui. The further they were away from the mansion, the better. They had stopped for supplies and groceries at the closest store, so they put everything away before settling everything into their rooms. There were enough for Tetsuo and Hana to share a room and each girl still have their own room. Kisa and Emi opted to share one despite that. 

Later that night after dinner, the girls were debating what to do. 

“We’re in the middle of the woods! We should do something outdoorsy!” Kisa grinned. 

“In the middle of the night?” Sayo cocked an eyebrow at her.

“There are still things you can do at night! Our options are just…more limited,” she admitted.

“What about setting things on fire?” Lei suggested. 

They all turned to stare at her in bewilderment. That wasn’t something they would have expected from her. 

“Now that I have your undivided attention, there’s a fire pit outside,” she chuckled, explaining her real idea. “We could light it and go hang out. We even have the stuff to make smores.”

“I like that idea!” Emi clapped her hands together with a smile. 

“Hell yeah! Let’s do it!” Kisa shot up, heading to the kitchen to grab the smores kit. 

It didn’t take too long for them to set up the fire pit that was back behind the cabin. There were already lounge chairs around it too, so they were able to relax and make smores once it was done.

“The stars are so beautiful out here,” Sayo marveled as she stared up at the night sky. 

“They really are,” Yui agreed. 

“Aren’t you happy you snuck away?” She grinned cheekily at the girl.

“Y-Yes, I am…” Yui admitted. “I’m glad I came.”

Lei had pulled out her phone earlier, playing music for atmosphere. It was supposed to be a relaxing playlist, but without them realizing it, they had reached the end. The next song that played was simply based on Lei’s music tastes and happened to be an upbeat song called Jitterbug. 

“Now this is more like it!” Kisa laughed, jumping up from her chair. “Come dance with me, Emi!”

“Okay,” Emi giggled, taking Kisa’s outstretched hand. 

“I guess this is the vibe now,” Lei laughed, grabbing her phone so she could play more songs like this afterward before jumping up to dance as well. 

“Let’s dance, Yui,” Sayo grinned as she got up. 

“I…I don’t know how to dance…” her face flushed pink from embarrassment. 

“There’s no right way to dance,” Sayo replied. “Just do whatever you want! None of us are going to judge you. It’s not like we’re professional dancers. We just like music. So come on, dance with me!”

Sayo held out her hand for Yui to take. She hesitated but reached out anyway, allowing Sayo to pull her up. Sayo immediately twirled over to her friends to dance with them, waving for her to follow. Yui watched for a moment. It was true, it did seem like they were just doing whatever they felt like. It seemed like a lot of fun…and she did want to. Yui grabbed Sayo’s hand once more, joining in as they all danced and laughed the night away.

“Who cares!  Ignore those idiots!  Come at nights, Dance and grasp your aspirations I shall dedicate my entire life to you Let’s shine on, like the scorching light!”

You nearly collapse, knocking over the bowl with cream in the process.

You politely refuse.

“Even if you’re lacking an appetite, you should be able to at least eat the things I bring you, no?”

You hesitantly grab a cookie.

[05:26] “Mmh. Better. Umー Where were we again…? Ah, right! I remember now! Honestly, I was so surprised to find out there was another human out there who has blood as sweet as yours! You tell him you want to see the outside world.

You go silent again.

You bring up your health.

You try and reason with him.

“STOP! I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT! ...Haah. We were having such a lovely chat as well, but you completely ruined it.”

Kanato gets up.

“My mood has been ruined. I will excuse myself for today.”

He leaves.

[08:01] ( You told me I was doing the wrong thing time after time. Trying to convince me that locking you up in that dim lit underground dungeon would only speed up the process and lead to an early death. You would even burst out into tears, worried about what would happen to me once I’m left behind. 

[08:19] Every time, I would grow upset and refuse to listen to you, covering my ears while simply turning a blind eye to everything, as I kept you imprisoned down there. Because I truly believed that if I kept at it long enough, you would eventually give in and stop saying that you were dying.

Whenever Yui and ayato go to town, laito follows them and in this narrator voice only ayato can hear he says really cliché shit.

Shu an Yui and azusa are just one of those platonic soulmate things, yeah I know there personalities are way too different but they actually bonded over trauma together really well

The difference being instead of trauma bonding and holding each other in a constant toxic relationship, they have things they each enjoy and have very similar vibes

Shu and azusa are still a cold but with Yui there they mesh together really well

They walk around in those groups of three at lunch times and both their families are against it but these mfs, bond over Yuma, cute animals, they're pretty quiet and aren't rowdy so they suit each others preference. They're also pretty big empaths, Shu is probably most knowledgeable about emotions in the sakamaki's, azusa doesn't judge any of them, and yui is the definition of pure affection. Azusa and Shu also get along pretty well when teasing Yui, to Shu azusa is basically like Subaru.

Subaru joins the group too but their vibes are way too calm for him

Shu accidentally made ayato cry when they were kids because Cordelia used to send him to train with Shu, and Shu said he was proud of ayato

Suburu actually used to look up to laito once when they were kids and understood his situation but the older laito grew the more he treated women how suburu's mother was treated. And suburu just sort of lost hope

The mukami brothers have movie marathons and they let Yui pick which movie they were gonna binge, and she got all emotional because azusa was like well you're part of the family too

Carla and yui have had soft moment, where he asked her about her life at the church and she accidentally told him about how she wanted her wedding as a little girl

Carla remembers everything and promised himself he'll give her a wedding exactly like it

Yui is extremely smart and moved up a grade, she was paired with Shu and now they're study buddies

Shu thought it would be annoying because she'd make him do stuff he didn't want to like his mother, but Yui understood how much pressure he had as an heir. Because of Seiji being head of the church, she always had to be perfect to not soil the komori reputation.

Ayato and Yui would be one of those couples that are way too sweet, but hardly have arguments. Yui isn't passive but she can tell when ayato jokes or not, and ayato can tell she's really sincere about how much she cares for him

These mfs would get matching plaid PJ's and make food together at 2 am, and all that soft stuff

Ayato would probably boast how his Yui is always right, he still makes fun of her assets

But this one time at a ball this girl approaches him, exactly his type but he doesn't even notice because he couldn't find Yui; and it's hilarious because laito now looks up to ayato whilst also calling him a fool for how head over heels he is

Reiji and yui make cute tea biscuits together, eventually reiji develops a habit to make tea time treats for her and keep them separate because he can't have anyone but her eat them

Reiji was never given much credit, but this man may not show it but everytime Yui compliments him he's putty in her hands

And honestly he never seriously took his father saying marrying Yui was the only way to the throne, but now he doesn't mind because he thinks Yui would be a great mother to his kids

Yui actually helps with kanato's insomnia, he's constantly plagued by his mother but once he find out his mother resides in Yui he sleeps next to her sometimes as an experiment to see if she could ever hurt him.

He never figured out why his mom chose a vessel so different but teddy told him he prefers Yui, so kanato prefers Yui too obviously because teddy told him no other reason.

Shu would hate his life as the vampire king without Yui I think, he's one of those people who when they open up they want all of it

He's probably one of those soft father's whose really close to them when they were toddlers singing them lullabies and probably reading to them, and he probably also picked out their names with alot of care. But once they grow up he's a lot more laid back

Reiji finished buttoning your shirt. “Seriously, I have to do everything for you, don't I,” he spoke in his usual tone.

It had been a month since he'd realized his mistake, his error. Reiji hadn't changed, but at the same time he had. He cared for you like the doll he'd left you as, but never failed to remind himself of what he'd done to you. His words almost never matched his actions now.

Reiji kissed the top of your head. “My bride,” he chimed. Even if you wouldn’t respond, he was more than happy to care for you, to love you as he should’ve from the beginning.

He couldn’t see how subtly all those little things helped you breathe a little easier. Almost as though your lungs had floated to the surface of a gigantic ocean.

He slowly pulled you out.

But to him, you were still the lifeless doll he’d left you as, and as he softly combed a piece of hair behind your ear, the buried tears emerged once again. He’d been holding them back for weeks now, but he’d cried at least three times since then.

He wiped the tear from under his eye. “I’m sorry again…” he softly spoke. He gently caressed your bare hands, remembering how you’d softly clutch onto his coat when you’d want a hug. He’d always end up nagging you about how you were wrinkling them, but you stayed the same, smiling at him.

Reiji kissed your cheek. “I’m gonna prepare you your favorite food, I know you barely eat…” he looked into your eyes, deep red ones meeting yours, “but it’d never hurt to try again.”

You stared blankly.

Reiji managed to get you to the kitchen easily, setting you down before coming back a few minutes later with your favorite dish. He sat beside you, lifting a bite of the food. He was ready for you to reject the food once again, to remind him of just exactly he’d left you.

If you didn’t eat something soon he didn’t know how much longer you’d have. Over the course of the month he’d managed to do it in the best medical way he could, a tube or a potion to restore the nutrients you needed. Your process into becoming a vampire was only at half, not good enough to dismiss food as all the brothers could.

He lifted it to meet in front of you. “Just one bite is enough.” He swallowed watching you stare blankly through him.

Please just respond, hate him all you want but eat.

That was more than enough.

He took a deep breath, setting the bite down on the plate. He'd only ever try a few times but it had been minutes now.

Try it once more.

The words repeated in his head. He knew it wouldn’t work, but something brought him to lift the food back up in front of you.

“Just one bite.”

The piece of food was centimeters from your lips.

One bite.

Reiji’s eyes widened as he set the plate down on the table and moved his chair closer to you, focusing on getting that one bite past your lips. He softly caressed your face and guided you as the food made it successfully into your mouth.

Now all you needed to do was chew and swallow.

“That’s good. You got it,” he said, his voice uncharacteristically motivating.

The words registered and you followed.

Something flashed past your eyes for a millisecond. He only barely missed it, but it was a shine to you.

You could see land ahead, and Reiji was there guiding you, holding you close.

Reiji sat in front of you. “Are you sure you don’t want me to help you?” he asked, almost reaching a hand towards you.

You slightly frowned, your shoulders tensing. You had wanted to do it on your own, after so long you’d seen how Reiji acted differently around you. But you wouldn’t lie…

You didn’t trust Reiji like you used to.

He knew that. Sometimes you’d flinch when he’d come near you, although having taken care of you until that point, something wouldn’t let you trust him.

But he understood. So he would do what he could to make sure you knew he wouldn’t do the same.

If he repeated his mistakes, he would have no right to call himself intelligent.

You finished brushing the comb through your hair, a sense of satisfaction calming you. You merely looked at Reiji before looking down at your.

Reiji softly smiled. Progress was progress. He’d do anything to make sure you kept going. “You did good.”

You looked up at him. His eyes catching yours.

How could you still be so in love with him after all he’d done? And even so… you couldn’t trust him, it was a strange feeling, to love, not trust, but still be able to look into the eyes that had broken you.

Reiji sat up straighter. “Would you like to go cook with me?” He hadn’t asked such a thing since you’d come back, and he was hoping you’d say yes.

You looked away, completely lost. Did you want to?

Reiji pulled up his glasses. “It’s okay if you don’t want to or you can’t.” Reiji couldn’t hide the disappointment in his voice, but he understood.

You stayed silent.
