another really cool thing: the plural suffix -saa ends up looking like an infix in some cases due to vowel deletion and metathesis. *inqwa, *inqwasaa > ivə, izva; *kwunkaa, *kwunkaasaa > kuga, kuzga; *khaari, *khaarisaa > kaale, kaasla. seeing irregularity arise spontaneously as a natural consequence of sound changes is neverending fun. i spend so much time just running random words thru the algorithm and seeing how they change with different affixes
#thats one thing that always bothered me abt my previous langs... how regular everything was#sometimes id throw in a random irregular verb or two but its not something you can fake convincingly i dont think#without actually evolving the conlang from a proto lang#like at this point theres more irregularity than not; ill probably have to put it thru a regularization phase at some point#at least for the most uncommon words#like how happened with a lot of english verbs#ramblings

Recently started to learn German
Why? The reason I would give irl is that I could then try and apply to German colleges giving me better opprotunities (pipe dream) My actual reason? It's a bit which I'm committing to cause if you looked at me I would not look or sound like the kind of person who would know German, and I think the idea of that is funny, which is enough of a reason for me to dedicated time out of my day to do this
#ich bin lerne#ich bin nicht gut es#but I am making process#unfortunate side effect: every time I hear something other than english or german my brain does a big worry#because it thinks if I figure out what some of the words mean the german will fall out of my brain#not gonna lie#I've low key been coasting off how many nouns and regular verbs are like english ones with certain consonants swapped out#german#learning german

when you think you know your own language but discover a whole new conjugation for a word and you feel as if you actually don't know shit
#wanna learn spanish? protip: don't!#even if it's a regular verb the amount of possible conjugations are frankly quite stupid#and the reason why sometimes i have trouble forming sentences in english LMAO#because i think them in spanish and then i'm like now wait a second they don't have this verbal time#anyways i feel kinda dumb and had to consult google and then didn't trust google#b.txt

Why do I despise the thought of drilling conjugation but when I finally sit down to do it I can go for almost a solid 2 hours 💀
#i am now very good at 20 ish semi-regular verbs in the present passé composé and plus-que-parfait#still got loads more problem verbs to drill though 😭 i'll get there and at least it's adding to my total time logged in my#independent learning journal thingy. it's a compulsory thing we have to do that contributes to our oral exam#maybe i can do this degree. maybe :)#langblr#french

#it’s my wedding anniversary today and I’m in a snit#not for the typical romcom reasons one might assume that a woman might be a snit about like#’he forgot our anniversary!’ or ‘he never brings me flowers!’ or ‘we’re not doing anything special because i didn’t plan it!’#i specifically planned nothing except for my regular routine because I don’t WANT to do anything special#it’s just Wednesday#and i know that to some folks that’s just a passive aggressive way of a woman communicating that she wants more out of an experience#but i seriously don’t. in fact I’m annoyed that he took the day off instead of just the afternoon like he said he was intending to do#THAT I was able to fit into my morning routine. i knew I’d still have coffee and reading and Spanish time to myself#then i realized he was all in my space making a ton of noise and i got a sinking feeling in my stomach and understood#that he took the whole damn day off#which is fine—he’s entitled to do that and I’m not going to argue with it#but where is the communication?#did he think that this is what count as ‘spontaneous’ and ‘romantic’? he doesn’t know the meaning of the words!#and I know this by now! 23 years of marriage is a long time to NOT know that and hope for more#i have made my peace with this arrangement. he works and i manage the house and work on myself during my copious alone time#so to have him in my space when i just want to read my stupid smutty book and learn reflexive verbs rankles me#i asked point blank why he was bothering to take the day off and he said ‘to spend time with me’#dude we spend time together all the time and most of that time you’re face down in a sudoku puzzle or coding#which is fine because you know have your hobbies I’m not stopping you#so unless you have a specific plan in mind that would justify trainwrecking the morning routine of an autistic woman#a woman who has accepted a plain and unadorned life without sex or romance#then take off the afternoon that you said you were going to take off and let that be it ok?#i don’t want flowers. i don’t want a card. i do want the fancy grilled cheese we talked about before i remembered it was our anniversary#tbh Wednesday is just gyros night and I suggested the gourmet grilled cheese place as a change of pace that’s all#i don’t even want to go to the art museum. I’d rather play video games tbh#agh Samantha who are you talking to? the faint outline of a man who chose someone else? yes i guess i am#sighing into the void#anyway. off to go learn how to properly use me te se nos etc. etc.

VERB DEFINITION AND EXERCISES:
Verbs are words that express action, occurrence, or state of being in a sentence. Action Verbs: These verbs describe actions performed by the subject of the sentence. For example: She runs every morning. He wrote a novel. They are playing soccer. Linking Verbs: Linking verbs connect the subject of the sentence with a subject complement, which describes or renames the subject. Common linking verbs include be (am, is, are, was, were, etc.), seem, become, appear, etc. For example: She is a doctor. The flowers smell sweet. He became a teacher. Helping Verbs (Auxiliary Verbs): Helping verbs are used with main verbs to express shades of meaning such as tense, mood, voice, or emphasis. Common helping verbs include have, has, had, do, does, did, will, would, shall, should, can, could, may, might, must, etc. For example: She is eating dinner. They have finished their homework. He will go to the party. Transitive and Intransitive Verbs: Verbs can be transitive or intransitive. Transitive verbs require a direct object to complete their meaning. For example: She ate pizza. (The verb ate requires the object pizza.) Intransitive verbs do not require a direct object. For example: He sleeps. Verb Tense: Verbs can express different time frames through tense. The Main Tenses are: Present Indefinite: I eat. Past Indefinite: I ate. Future Indefinite: I will eat. Future Indefinite in the Past: I would eat Present Continuous: I am eating. Past Continuous: I was eating. Future Continuous: I will be eating. Future Continuous in the Past: I would be eating. Present Perfect: I have eaten. Past Perfect: I had eaten. Future Perfect: I will have eaten. Future Perfect in the Past: I would have eaten Present Perfect Continuous: I have been eating Past Perfect Continuous: I had been eating Future Perfect Continuous: I will have been eating Future Perfect Continuous in the Past: I would have been eating Verb Agreement: Verbs must agree with their subjects in terms of number and person. For example: She walks. (Singular subject) They walk. (Plural subject) Voice: Verbs can also express the voice of the action, indicating whether the subject performs the action (active voice) or receives the action (passive voice). Active Voice: In active voice sentences, the subject performs the action expressed by the verb. For example: The chef cooked the meal. She painted the picture. They are building a house. Passive Voice: In passive voice sentences, the subject receives the action expressed by the verb. The structure typically involves a form of to be plus the past participle of the main verb. For example: The meal was cooked by the chef. The picture was painted by her. A house is being built by them. Regular and irregular verbs: are two categories of verbs based on their patterns of conjugation in different tenses. Regular Verbs: Regular verbs follow a predictable pattern when conjugated in different tenses. They typically form their past tense and past participle by adding -ed to the base form of the verb. Examples: Base Form: walk, talk, play Past Tense: walked, talked, played Past Participle: walked, talked, played Irregular Verbs: Irregular verbs have unique forms for their past tense and past participle. Examples: Base Form: go, eat, sing Past Tense: went, ate, sang Past Participle: gone, eaten, sung
