.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
The weekend was always your favorite part of the week, not only were you free from work but those two and a half glorious days were always child-free.
As of recently, Henry has come up with his own parenting plan. On weekdays he would stay with you and Regina then once the weekend rolled around he would stay over with Emma and Killian.
After certain disputes with Emma died down, Henry took full advantage of the double parenting to ensure everyone got to spend time with him.
He did stay with Mary Margaret and David on occasion but in the wise words of young Henry himself, 'they're too old school'.
It was only a matter of time before Henry got tired of trying to explain to them what a gameboy was and how it worked.
Today however was Friday, which marked the start of a brand new weekend. Everything went the same as usual, take Henry to school, help Regina in the office, grab lunch at Granny's, and last but not least, start spending the entire weekend alone with Regina.
While Regina was dropping Henry off at Emma's, you wanted tonight to be extra special for her.
It's been a while since you got all dolled up just for her and seeing you in her favorite color always made her jaw drop.
Working around the room, lights were turned off, candles were lit, rose petals were scattered, and you were frantically trying to make everything look perfect.
Although, all that was left was for you to slip on a little black dress but the second you saw your reflection in the mirror it's like you were caught in a daze.
The soft reflections from the candlelight had your skin looking like smooth silk. . .
And sheer red lace that barely covered your body seemed to hug in all the right places. . .
Your hands couldn't help but glide down the sides of your body before making their way around the back. With a slight turn, you watched as your hands slid down past the straps of your thong and admired the way it accentuated the roundness of your ass.
"Fuck. . ." You heard from an oh-so familiar voice.
You gasp sharply as your head whips towards the doorway to see Regina leaning against the doorframe with her bottom lip tucked between her teeth.
"I thought I was coming home to dinner. . ."
Regina kicks off her heels, instantly making her way towards you.
"But it looks like we're headed straight to dessert."
Her lustful voice got deeper than usual, just before her signature red stained lips collided with yours in a fiery kiss. Hands carefully cupped your cheeks while yours slid to her back in search of the zipper to her dress.
Regina giggles when she feels your fingers fumbling to pull the zipper down.
She walks you towards the bed and gently pushes you down onto the bottom half of the lush mattress.
You lift yourself up on your elbows and watch as she stands between your legs slowly gliding the zipper down.
You couldn't help but admire the way her lightly tanned skin was glowing under the candlelight.
Her dress falls to the floor revealing a matching black lace set that fits her body perfectly. Garters with little bows on them sat tightly against her thighs holding up her sheer black stockings that ended with a pair of black high heels.
Regina steps out of her dress, kicking it to the side, before climbing onto the bed above you.
She straddles your hips and instantly brings her lips back to yours. This time they felt even needier than before. . . more hungry.
Her hands reach around to unclasp your bra, sliding the straps down your shoulders and tossing it randomly behind her.
Breaking free from the kiss, Regina sends small kisses along your jawline and starts making her way down, leaving red lip stains in their wake.
Soft moans escape as she nips at your collarbone before heading straight towards your breasts.
She flicks her tongue over your hardened nipple.
Teeth slightly grazing across the sensitive bud.
"Mmm, mommy. . ." Your voice was just barely above a whisper.
Her dark chocolate eyes snap up to meet yours, caught off guard by the name slip.
She raises an eyebrow and brings her head back up to hover just inches in front of yours. Regina did her best at hiding the smirk begging to show across her face.
"Mommy, eh?" Her thumb swipes across your bottom lip.
"I'm sorry—"
"Don't be sorry," Regina quickly cuts you off.
"I find it rather. . . hot." She chuckles deeply before giving you another kiss on the lips, reassuring you in the best way she can.
You couldn't help the smile that spread across your face.
"You do?" Your bright eyes look into hers lovingly.
"Of course I do! You're just the sweetest little thing. . . call me whatever you like, okay?"
"Okay."
"Good girl. Now, is there anything you'd like mommy to do for you? Any requests while we resume our activities?" Her hand gently stroking your left cheek.
You contemplate for a moment, using your fingers to tuck a stray hair behind her ear. Eyes quickly darted to the mirror that stood behind her.
Regina turns her head to follow your eyes before looking back at you with her other eyebrow raised this time.
"What do you want? Use your words."
"I want—" You take a deep breath as you begin, cheeks glowing red as you're embarrassed by the fact she's making you be so forward. "I want to watch you fuck me in the mirror."
Regina looks taken back at your request, not expecting that sentence to ever come out of you.
"My little Angel doesn't seem to be so innocent anymore. . . I love it." Her nose scrunches as she finishes her sentence and gives you a quick peck before she moves herself to sit next to you with her legs spread.
She pats the empty space between her open legs, Regina now facing the floor length mirror that sat across from the bed.
"Come."
You sit up and take her hand as she helps you climb into her lap, both of your bodies facing the mirror.
She moves your hair behind your back and completely exposes your neck.
Tender eyes meet yours in the reflection.
"Is this what you wanted?" She asks, kissing your neck softly.
"Yes," You shudder when she reaches the spot just below your ear and tilt your head to give her better access.
Her free hand slides all the way down your side to reach your thighs and uses gentle force to spread your legs wider for her to achieve better access.
"Look at you, already so wet and we've barely even started." Regina chuckles at the prominent wet spot against your panties.
You hum when her warm hand reaches your center, playing with you through the thin fabric.
Her free hand slides across your chest to toy with your breasts and slightly pinches your nipple between her fingers.
You lean yourself as close as possible to her. Her breasts pressed heavily against your back.
You watch through the mirror as her fingers tuck beneath your fabric and move it to the side. The cold air hitting you sends a long chill up your spine.
"Open," She demands when she brings two fingers to your lips.
There was almost an immediate response to your mouth opening and Regina slowly sliding them in.
"Now suck for mommy."
You do as you're told and swipe your tongue along the length of her fingers and gently sucking at the tip before she pulls them back out.
Brown eyes scanned your nearly naked body as her now wet fingers slid back down to where it was prominently more wet.
Slim fingers toy at your entrance, almost teasing you along your folds before they easily dip inside.
A small moan slips from your mouth as she fills you. Your eyes watch through the mirror when Regina's lips return their attention to your neck.
She sucks and kisses along your neckline and across your shoulder while her pace steadily grows faster along your cunt.
Heat immediately spreads throughout your body at the pleasure of the slight curve of her fingers along with the subtle pinches against your nipples.
"You like this don't you?" Regina questions.
"You like it when mommy plays with you." She whispers lowly in your ear.
"Yes—God yes."
She watches as your eyes nearly roll to the back of your head at the full curve of her fingers. The different areas getting pleasure was almost too much to bear once she added the palm of her hand to your clit.
Moans of ecstasy filled the dim room around you along with the sounds of her palm gently smacking against your skin.
Expert fingers hit just the right spot with every skillful thrust.
"You're doing so good for me, darling."
Your legs couldn't help but twitch as you felt yourself nearing your release, fighting to keep your legs from closing.
Dark eyes were glued onto yours through the reflection when she heard your moans increase in volume.
"I want you to look at me when you finish, can you do that for me?"
"Y-Yes!"
Your head leans against hers as your hands claw their way at the sheets.
"Oh my god—" Your voice nearly catches in your throat as you finally reach the climax you've been running towards.
Your bottom lip gets roughly pulled between your teeth while Regina releases your tit to lay her hand atop your own that's grasped against the sheets.
Her movements soon turned gentle as she helped ride out your high.
"That's my good girl." She proudly speaks out, both of you still eyeing each other down in the mirror.
Your eyes immediately lighting up at her praising words.
She slowly removes her fingers and almost instantly brings them between her lips, quietly humming when she finally gets a taste of you.
Her fingers quickly get sucked clean.
"Stand up real quick my love so we can clean you up."
You do your best to stand so the two of you can clean yourself in the restroom. She sets you atop of the bathroom counter and swiftly cleans you with a wash rag, throwing it in the hamper when she's done.
"How about we put on a movie and order some of your favorite takeout?" She offers, knowing neither of you are now in the mood to cook.
You nod your head excitingly which puts a precious smile across her face.
"Okay then it's a plan," She chuckles and gives you a peck on the lips just before you return to the bedroom.
She opens her drawer and takes out two oversized button up shirts, tossing one to you and putting one over herself.
The two of you end up spending the rest of the night laying in each other's arms across the leather couch after a quick meal, easily falling asleep to one of your favorite movies.

Welcome to Storybrook, Malvina Monroe!
Disenchanted x OUAT-oneshot
@monrolasia and I were texting on thursday night and we had a nice conversation. We came up with the idea of Malvina being in Storybrook and so I wrote this oneshot. Hope you like it!
Regina Mills, the Mayor of Storybrooke, calmly sat in her office going through some papers. This was so boring. She had NOT enacted a curse sacrificing her father's life by squashing his heart to do THIS. Why was a land without magic so horrible? Paperwork? Really? Was that worth killing her father for? Regina moaned. But then the already half-burned painting of a bird that Snow White had put there when she was the mayor for a brief time caught her eye. Luckily, it wasn't a land without magic anymore. With a diabolical smile on her face, Regina formed a fireball in her hands and threw it onto the painting. It imediately caught fire and light the room up. The fire reflected in the mayors eyes as her diabolical smile widened and grew into a wicked laugh. Regina liked the painting much more when it was on fire. It was way more interesting and much more fun this way.
Regina could have watched the painting burn for the rest of the day but suddenly her phone rang. "Yes?", she answered the phone. "Regina? It's me, Emma. You've got to come to the city limits. There's something going on here", Emma's clearly worried voice could be heard trough the phone. Regina was alarmed. It never meant good news when Emma said this. So she asked: "Emma? What's going on?" "I can't tell you on phone. Just come here as quickly as possible", Emma explained with her voice lowered before she hung up the phone. "Emma? Emma!" Regina exhaled before she teleported herself to the city limits.
A cloud of purple smoke appeared at the city limits, and when it was gone, it revealed the mayor of Storybrooke. "Emma! What's...", Regina asked, only to be immediately shushed out by the blonde woman. Emma carefully pointed to the city's red marked border. "Shh. Or you'll miss this", she whispered. Regina followed the savior's finger with her eye and then she saw it. Three people where standing infront of the city limits. Two women and one man. One of the women had strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes, the other one had black hair. Regina couldn't see her face because she had her back turned on her. "You are a disgrace for Monrolasia, Malvina Monroe", spat the blonde woman out. The man next to her grinned visciously. The black haired woman which had been adressed as Malvina Monroe responded in sadness: "I am disgrace to Monrolasia?! You are the ones who are kicking me out." "You deserve it", the other woman continously bullied her, "you tried to kill me! You poised an apple!" She than took an red apple out of her bag and threw it to the woman who Regina assumed went by the name Malvina. Malvina caught it. "Giselle, let me explain...", she started but quickly got snapped by the woman that she called Giselle. "No. You see this, Malvina?" The woman being called Giselle held a little glass with a purple liquid in it. "It belongs to us now", she stated. "No! Giselle, this isn't like you anymore. You were always so kindhearted and gave everyone a chance. Even me", the woman with the black hair and black dress explained. Regina felt like her heart broke. Malvina reminded her of her own. She was homeless, perspectiveless. Hopeless. "We've got to help her", the mayor of Storybrook decided. Giselle laughed. "Those days are over now." And then all of a sudden, she threw the purple liquid in Regina's and Emma's direction! It crossed the red line and hit the ground. Malvina turned around and looked for the liquid, but couldn't see it. Giselle and the man next to her also looked surprised but then smiled visciously, turned around and left Malvina alone. After watching them leave, she took the apple in her hands and threw it as far as she could. And then she saw it. "Oh no. She saw it. She knows it", Regina immeadiately recognized. "There is something beyond here", Malvina stated. She reached her hand out behind the invisible curtain that was in front of her and screamed when she felt a grab on her hand that pulled her on the other side. She Suddenly she saw two women standing in front of her. "Hi. I'm Emma Swan", a blond haired-woman with a leather jacket and jeans greeted her with a smile. "I'm Malvina Monroe. Queen of Monrolasia. Or at least I used to be", Malvina said with a sad voice. Then she saw her liquid. The glass was shattered and the liquid covered the ground. "My poison", Malvina sadly noticed. "I'm Regina Mills. Welcome to Storybrooke, Malvina Monroe", she was greeted by a black-haired woman. "Storybrooke?" Malvina looked around. All she saw was a road and woods on both sides. "Yes, Storybrook", Regina replied with a smile. "It's a quiet yet lovely little town." Emma got into her car followed by Regina Mills who encouraged the former Queen of Monrolasia to do so, too.
Former Queen of Monrolasia, Malvina Monroe thought while driving to Storybrooke. I really am the former Queen. All she could think was that she once had her little town, too. It had been lovely, pieceful and quiet. Until Giselle had showed up and had ruined everything with her stupid wish. Now Malvina's beloved Monroeville was Monrolasia and Giselle and Robert were likely to rule as King and Queen since they had kicked Malvina out. Storybrooke seemed nice and so Malvina decided to stay for recover. But Storybrooke seemed so lovely, it reminded her of Monroeville and she couldn't help but feeling heartbroken. A tear streamed down her cheek. Then Emma Swan stopped the car. "We're there", she stated. The three women got off the car. "Granny's Diner?", Malvina asked in surprise. "Who's Granny is it and why does she have a diner?" Regina laughed. "It's Red's Granny and she runs a diner, well because we need a diner here in Storybrooke." The mayor couldn't help but getting nervous. Everything was new to Malvina and she had just lost her home so Regina did not want to overwhelm her by telling her about the curse. She would have plenty of time to tell her about it. But for now she just wanted to offer the lady a place where she could rest her head. "Emma what are we doing here? We should take Malvina to Granny's Bed and Breakfast where she can have a room", Regina asked. Emma replied: "Yes, we will take her there. But Granny highly likely is in the diner now and I think Cruella De Vil is probably drinking one Gin after another. Maybe she wants some company." Malvina stood in front of the diner, looking around. "Okay, let's introduce you to Granny", the mayor of Storybrooke decided, quickly grabbed the hand of the newest citizen and took her inside the diner. Emma Swan remained outside. "Regina!", she shouted and followed them inside.
Inside the diner it was awfully loud and the lights where painfully bright. After spending time in silence and darkness, Malvina wasn't used to such a crowded room. Regina led her to the bar, where Cruella De Vil sat with a glass of Gin in front of her. After introducing her to Malvina Monroe, the mayor left them alone to talk to Granny about a room for Malvina.
"Hi, Cruella. I'm Malvina. Malvina Monroe", the Monrolasian greeted her. "Hi Malvina, Darling. Nice to meet ya", Cruella greeted back. She already seemed drunk. As she sat there, alone, with a drink, nobody to talk with, Malvina couldn't help but to feel even sadder. This could have been her sitting there. Although Cruella smiled, Malvina could see the loneliness and sadness in her eyes. "Do you always drink on your own?", she asked a little nervously. "Yes. I mean, you don't need somebody else for drinking. See? I can perfectly put the glass to my mouth without help", the fur-obsessed answered and demonstrated it. Then she giggled. Malvina chuckled along but noticed that internally, Cruella cried. "Mind if I sit here with you?", the Queen asked, "I could use a drink, too." Cruella's face darkened as she seem to take a closer look on Malvina Monroe. "You, too?", she asked in surprise. Malvina just nodded as a response and sat next to Cruella De Vil. Granny appeared to ask her new customer's wish. "A glass of Gin, please", Malvina ordered toneless. Granny looked at her in worry. Hopefully the newest citizen did not plan to get drunk on her very first night in Storybrooke. "Of course", she said, "and since it's your first time at Granny's and in Storybrooke, the first drink is free." "Thank you", Malvina replied. She did not try to hide her sadness. She couldn't hide it anymore. How could she sink so low to end up here, getting drunk with someone who's equally lonely because she had nothing better to do? For God's sake, she was the Queen of Monrolasia! But those days were over now. Forever. And as she drank her third Gin she started sobbing. She then sobbed it all out on Cruella's shoulder, telling her all about it. How Giselle first turned Monroeville into Monrolasia only to kick her out then and to rule it herself. How she hated it that her son Tyson was dating Giselle's stepdaughter Morgan. How much she loved and missed him. How much she missed her husband, who was trapped inside a mirror and probably now under Giselle's control. She could picture Giselle already sitting in her throne, wearing her clothes, living in her castle. She had taken Malvina's life without killing her. Cruella then also could not hold back her tears anymore and started crying. She told Malvina how much she'd love to have a friend but nobody liked her so she was always on her own. Which caused her to get drunk to forget about her loneliness and to not feel the pain and the sadness that came with it. She wished to feel numb only to be reliefed from it so she drank bottles of Gin until she felt numb. The two woman drank and sobbed until they were knocked out and fell asleep with their heads lying at the bar table.
The next morning Malvina Monroe and Cruella De Vil woke up in a room in Granny's Bed and Breakfast and felt like they had been run over by a truck. When they found themselves lying in the same bed they were shocked first and feared something had happened that shouldn't have happened. But they sighed in relief when they found that they were fully clothed. "Do you remember what happened last night or how we got up here?", Malvina asked. "No", Cruella replied, still tired. "Me neither", stated Malvina. But then a thought crossed her foggy brain. "Maybe Emma or Regina brought us up here?" "Maybe", Cruella agreed. "So... who's Tyson?", the black-white-haired woman asked. Malvina Monroe gave her a shocked look. "How do you know him?" Cruella shrugged her shoulders. "I don't remember. Maybe you talked about him? It's just that his name was running through my mind since I woke up." Malvina looked sadly at Cruella. "He's my son", she answered. And all of a sudden, a wave of memories crashed Malvina's brain that still felt foggy from all the alcohol. Tyson. The sad look on his face when he watched his mother leaving. Giselle kicking her out of Monrolasia. Regina and Emma welcoming her to Storybrook. Meeting Cruella at Granny's. A tear ran down her cheek. She turned away from Cruella, unable to meet her eyes. "Please don't ask. I don't want to talk about him", she said with her voice breaking. Cruella carefully put her hand on Malvina's shoulder, who turned around and met her eyes. Cruella could see all the pain in her eyes. A damage. Just like David and James. But even worse. "Hey, Malvina. I'm here for you. You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. But if you like, we can be friends." And for the first time, Malvina smiled. "That sounds great. Thank you, Cruella." She put her hand on Cruella's, which was still resting on Malvina's shoulder. Then she closed her eyes and layed her cheek on her's and Cruella's hand which made Cruella grow closer and lay her cheek on Malvina's head. They enjoyed the moment and the way it felt. And in this moment, they both were happy.

Regina sat on the edge of her bed staring at the storybook that started it all that she held in her hands. She felt a great deal of resentment for the book, and she wished, not for the first time, that she had burned it long ago. Sitting on the bed beside her was the spell book that had belonged to her mother, and she wished she could burn it too. This storybook was the reason she didn’t have her son.
If you have to use magic to keep your son, you don’t really have him.
She had thought she had succeeded that time, too. She had managed to gibe the servants that worked in the palace that had been her home the slip undetected, and as she rode Rocinante hard for the property line her home possessed, she felt as if she were free for the first time.
Unfortunately, it didn’t last.
Her mother had used a spell to use the trees and their branches to pull her from her mount and hold her captive until her mother could appear to whisk her back home. She hadn’t counted on the barrier spell, and her heart had wrenched at the thought of her mother holding her prisoner and forcing her to go through with a marriage she didn’t want for a crown she didn’t desire and power that she couldn’t have cared less about.
Of course, once she had married King Leopold and once she had discovered the power that came with the crown, she had eventually used it to the fullest of her capability. Power, after all, did mean strength. Love was weakness, gave someone else power over you, and she couldn’t have that. The only way for Regina to have agency was to have power over all others. Her mother had taught her that, and she was ultimately the reason why she sought magic. Magic gave her the strength to advocate for herself and her needs in a way that she had never before had.
(Her desire for the power to have agency over herself was what made her such susceptible prey for Rumplestiltskin’s machinations, though she wouldn’t realize this until much, much later after she had thought she had truly lost her son for good. The darkness loved those who craved power, no matter the kind.)
Running her hands over the cover of the book, she thought back to their altercation that had led to this.
Regina had sensed that Henry was going to try to escape, so to stop him she enacted a barrier spell to force the trees to capture him and hold him until she could retrieve him. It only took her a moment to locate the spell in the book and wave her hand with intent before the spell was enacted. She didn’t hurry up the stairs, relieved that something was in place to both keep him from running away and from accidentally hurting himself. When she reached his room, she saw that her instincts were right and that he had been captured by the tree.
She leaned out the window and said rebukingly, “Don’t fight it honey. You’ll get a splinter.” Henry looked back at her with such resentment it was almost like she was looking at David looking at her. When he stopped squirming, she waved her hand and he was instantly transported back into his room, safe and sound.
Henry huffed and threw himself onto the edge of his bed. “How long am I to be a prisoner for?” he asked. “‘Til I grow up?”
Regina stared pointedly at him. “I rescued you because I love you.” She deliberately avoided answering his question.
Henry hadn’t let her get away with it, though. He asked, “So I’m a prisoner because you love me?”
Regina sighed in agitation that he wouldn’t see her side.
“That’s not fair,” Henry continued.
“You know where I come from?” Regina asked, getting somewhat annoyed, “That was really not fair. Of all the places I’ve seen, this is the fairest of them all.”
Henry didn’t take up the issue of whether the Enchanted Forest or the Land Without Magic were more fair. He pointed out, “You ruined lives. You sent away Mary Margaret and Emma.”
“That was an accident,” Regina interjected hastily. It was the first time she answered one of his accusations directly.
“The way you treated me wasn’t an accident,” Henry pointed out. “You made it so no one believed me. You made me feel like I was crazy. But I was right all along.”
Regina conceded the point but she didn’t know how to make it up to him. She offered the only consolation she knew. “But that’s all going to change now. Henry, you can know all the secrets. You can live in a house with magic.”
Hopefully showing him the benefits of the magic would help him to adjust to his new reality and forgive her. She smiled encouragingly at her son. “Look what I can do,” she whispered, calling up a giant cupcake with rainbow frosting with a wave of her hand. “I can teach you. You can do this and so much more,” she offered, hoping it would be enough to earn his cooperation.
She offered him the opportunity to have his friends over so he could show them the book. Henry shot her suggestion down quickly by pointing out that no one would want to come over because they were all scared of her.
Regina’s temper at the reminder of her past as the Evil Queen flared. “You can make them not be scared,” she countered forcefully. Upon seeing Henry’s doubtful look, she took a breath. “You can make them love you,” she said softly.
“I don’t want that,” Henry refused. He looked at the floor out of frustration. When he turned his eyes back to meet hers, he continued, “I don’t want to be you.”
Regina leaned back, feeling as if he had slapped her in the face. She watched as he shook his head with disgust that she just didn’t get it and got up to leave the room. She stared in disbelief, feeling a knife pierce her heart.
Because he was right.
And she had said the same thing about becoming her mother all those years ago.
Regina got up from Henry’s bed as if in a daze. She wandered into her bedroom, and sitting there on the bed was the storybook. She picked it up in her hands and stared at it, leading her back full circle to the point she had started her contemplation of events that had led to her being here.
Idly, she wondered how long it would take David to finally get here to take Henry back. Ten minutes? Twenty? It couldn’t be thirty at most.
Back then, she had conspired with Rumplestiltskin to get rid of her mother after the wedding. In her attempt to keep from becoming her mother, she had done the exact thing she had sworn not to do. She had become just like Cora. How hadn’t she seen it before? Henry didn’t deserve this; he deserved much better from her. After all, wasn’t adopting him supposed to give her someone to always love her and to whom she could love in return? Didn’t he deserve her love in a way that was supportive of who he was and what he believed?
The future seemed bleak if she allowed this to continue. She would not become her mother and repeat her mother’s mistakes with Henry. She just didn’t know how to go about righting the wrongs she had done to her son.
She got up off her bed and walked back downstairs, anticipating David’s arrival at any moment. She grabbed the spell book that her mother had kept all those years ago on her way down. When she got downstairs, she sat at the formal dining table, holding the book in her hands and ruminating on all the discord and pain magic had brought her over the years.
The door burst open with a loud bang as David jumped into her foyer. She turned, seeing him brandishing his sword.
“I want to see him,” David demanded, holding the sword’s point to her face.
“Henry come down,” she called. To David, she said, “You won’t be using your sword.”
“Whatever you conjure, I can fight,” he responded.
She raised her hand up and moved the sword tip down to point towards the floor. “I mean,” she clarified, “you won’t need your sword.”
Upon seeing Henry coming down the stairs, looking between her and David in curiosity, she moved to meet her son halfway. She stared into his face, trying to work up the courage to say what she needed.
“Henry, you’re gonna go home with David,” she finally said. She watched as Henry turned his brown gaze onto David’s in astonishment to make sure he heard it too. Henry looked back at her slowly.
“Really”” he questioned, not believing that she was allowing him to go with his grandfather after her display at town hall.
“Really,” she confirmed. “I shouldn’t have brought you here,” she continued. “I was…”. She broke off, not quite knowing how to explain it to him in a way that he could understand. She tilted her head to the right and leaned closer in, confiding, “I don’t know how to love very well.” She had never really had anyone show her how.
“I wasn’t capable of it for a very long time. But I know, I remember, that if you hold onto someone too hard, it doesn’t make them love you. I’m sorry I lied to you. That I made you feel like I didn’t know who you are. But I want you to be here because you want to be here. Not because I forced you and not because of magic.”
Regina paused, making sure Henry understood what she was saying. She waited until he nodded, before confiding in him the very last deepest desire she possessed. “I want to redeem myself.” She felt tears spring to her eyes. She felt ashamed of how she had acted towards him, and she hoped that this would be enough to finally mend the riff in their relationship.
“Now go get your things,” she told him, and he turned to get what he needed.
“Then prove it,” David told her, and she turned to him.
“How?” She asked, curious as to what advice he could offer her.
“Answer one question,” David responded. “Does it exist?”
“What?”
“The Enchanted Forest. Our land. Does it still exist?”
She walked down the stairs and stopped just in front of him before answering. “Yes. But I have no idea how to get back there.”
She watched as the realization of this fact appeared in David’s eyes.
“I can see I just launched you on a heroic quest,” she observed sardonically. “Just also make sure you take care of my son.”
David nodded. “That I can do.”
After closing the door once the two of them had left to go back to the loft Mary Margaret had lived in, Regina picked up the spell book and moved to throw it into the fire once and for all, but she hesitated. Magic had always brought her agency, so couldn’t it help her now? She changed her mind and put the book back into a safe location just in case. She opened a bottle of wine instead and poured herself a glass, pondering just exactly how she was going to prove to Henry that she really did love him. She wondered how exactly she could redeem herself after all the turmoil and pain she had caused. How did an Evil Queen set out to become a hero worthy of her son when she had no one she loved helping to show her the way?

Wait... what was the swanqueen fic recs? ...and are there more (...esp if theyre smutty) 👀👀👀
oh there are more!!!
first of all i'm just going to plug myself because why not. i have 78 swan queen works up - mostly oneshots, a couple longfics, including the fic i'm currently writing, change with the seasons. a lot of my fics are older (for example my 52 weeks of swan queen series was written in 2015) and i was a teenager when i wrote them, but i still find a lot of joy in them!!
now for the rest of the recs, i'm going to organize them as best i can into a few categories. also, a lot of these recs will be a bit older as i've been away from the fandom for a while, and am only just now coming back again. this is an open question if anyone else has recommendations to add in the reblogs!!!
longfics:
satin town by @coalitiongirl is probably my all time favorite fanfic, period. everything she's written for the fandom is incredible, but this one has always stuck with me. the dynamic between emma and regina (who is in full on evil queen mode) is just DELICIOUS and i love how she worked henry into the story. an absolute must as far as i'm concerned. PLUS she has a whole NOVEL out now, so go support that if you like the fic!!!!
the secret's in the telling by @the-pyrophoric-one is another classic in the fandom, and for good reason. the characterization is so spot on, and i absolutely love the arc of this story. the chapters are suuuuuper long though so it's a time investment!!
somewhere, someone must know the ending by maleficently who is not on tumblr as far as i'm aware is a divorce au. lots of angst with a happy ending. the same author also wrote an incredible three-part series called the fatal plunge, which remains, tragically, unfinished.
you gotta play dirty by amycarey who i'm not tagging because they don't write fic anymore. there's so many fics by amycarey that i absolutely adore (temporary distractions and keep the wolves outside by living well are also up there!!) but i chose this one because it's so unique to me. it's an au in which emma and regina are in a concert band together. i was a band kid myself, specifically a clarinetist, so i was pretty geeked over this!!
all that glitters is not (olypmic) gold by @queststar is another super niche but super fun and well-written au. in this one, emma and regina are olympic speed skaters. i just love the competitive energy between the two of them and the arc as they grow closer and eventually fall for each other. the author even got elizabeth mitchell to read some of it which is just. next level.
one fine star away by @bytherosebushlaughing is another au that gets a little meta, but it's sooooo much fun. in this fic, once upon a time is a tv show that regina, emma, and the others starred in. 20 some years later, the cast is reuniting, and the reunion is being covered by none other than one henry mills. it's such a clever fic, and i absolutely love it so far!!
oneshots:
of love and loss and love again by @snowivyimconfusi oh this one. this one is so bittersweet. emma and regina, grieving the losses of their partners, find comfort in each other. and more. it's so beautifully done, and i just adore ivy's writing style!!
what you thought you had to do by hoovahhoopah is the very first fic i read after making my ao3 account and it's still one that i love!! it's part of a six part series of oneshots called ill fitting pieces, but it also stands on its own just as well. just a beautiful, classic, canon-but-make-it-better kind of fic.
a woman moves when her heart has been broken by etotheswan because who among us wasn't absolutely destroyed by the season 3 finale???? this offered a lot of swan queen based catharsis while we waited for season 4.
monster-in-law by seriousfic is just a funny, light-hearted little oneshot about mary margaret trying to stop emma and regina's wedding by reminding them that they're all sort of related. a big departure from the seriousfic work we all know and miss dearly..... but enjoyable nonetheless thanks to their talent!!
and now, the moment we've all been waiting for, smut:
top of the list is, of course, our prophet of swan queen smut @angstbotfic. the making amends series is my all time favorite, and one that i recommended to my dear friend 27, but you can't go wrong with literally anything they've written.
wicked games by @starsthatburn is so. is so. it left me basically speechless. also recommended this one to 27, and i believe this is the one referenced in the ask they sent. it's the most insanely hot BDSM fantasy. if you like domme regina, look no further.
the thing she won't admit by beattheodds if you like butt stuff, here's swan queen butt stuff. need i say more?
paint it black by wily_one24 heed the warnings, this one is pretty dark. but if that's what you're into, this is the one. it's like if 50 shades of grey was swan queen and also good.
of love and loathing by morganlegaye and its sequel, transgressions of the heart are a hatefuck lover's dream. transgressions of the heart remains unfinished, but god is it good.
fealty by standbackufools you like throne sex? you like honorifics? you like D/s dynamic? enjoy :)
thank god it's BDSM friday by carrotlucky13 this one covers soooooo many kinks. emma and regina enter into a 24/7 BDSM lifestyle. for 95k words. i don't know what else to say but WOWOWOWOW. even if you're not into every kink in here it's still hot af.
emma's little problem by juicecup it's a magic!cock story with a slight humiliation kink if you squint, but otherwise mostly vanilla sex to round out a very kinky rec list.
go give these incredible creators some love!!! and remember, nothing motivates a fic writer quite like a nice comment :)

Office Kiss.
pairing: Regina Mills (The Evil Queen) X Reader
summary: you somehow end up kissing your ex-girlfriend in her office.
words: 539 words, 3045 characters.
warnings: exgirlfriend!regina, visitor!reader, kissing, no smut involved (my apologies), fluff.
hello babies, i couldn't resist myself pulling off a good oneshot of the infamous regina mills!
──────────
Regina sat at her desk, surrounded by the usual chaos of a busy Monday morning. Her office was buzzing with activity, the sound of ringing phones and clacking keyboards a constant backdrop. She sipped her coffee, trying to summon the energy to dive into her overflowing inbox.
Just as she was about to open her first email, her friend and sheriff of the town, Emma, rushed over. "Regina, we have a new visitor in town this early morning. Can you show her around?"
Regina sighed but nodded. "Give me a moment."
A few minutes later, she stood in the lobby, waiting for the new arrival. She glanced at her watch, impatiently tapping her foot. The elevator doors opened, and out stepped a woman she never expected to see again: You, her ex-girlfriend.
Her heart skipped a beat as their eyes met. You looked as surprised as she felt. "Regina?" you inhaled, a mixture of shock and something else flickering in your eyes.
"You," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. Memories of your time together flooded back, but she quickly pushed them aside. This was serious. She had to stay professional.
"I wasn't expecting to see you," you expressed, breaking the awkward silence.
"As do I," Regina responded, forcing a smile. "Let me show you around."
The two of you walked through her office, with Regina pointing out the different departments and introducing you to various colleagues. As you moved, the initial shock began to wear off, replaced by a strange sense of familiarity. Despite your past, you both slipped into an easy banter, reminiscing about old times and catching up on the years you had missed.
As you both reached her desk, Regina's phone rang. She picked it up, only to have the cord catch on a stack of papers, sending them tumbling to the floor. Slightly flustered, she bent down to pick them up, with you doing the same.
You both reached for the same paper, and suddenly, you were inches apart, your faces so close that she could feel your breath.
Time seemed to slow as you locked eyes. Without thinking, Regina leaned in, and before she knew it, your lips met in a soft, unexpected kiss. It lasted only a moment, but it was enough to bring back a rush of emotions she'd buried long ago.
You both pulled back, with Regina wide-eyed and breathless. "I'm sorry," Regina blinked, feeling her cheeks burn increasingly.
You chuckled softly, shaking your head. "No, it was my fault. I didn't mean to..."
Regina could only nod, avoiding eye-contact and attempting to compose herself. "We should go," she mumbled, her breath short. "This is complicated."
"Yeah," you agreed, a small smile playing on your lips. "But maybe it's a good kind of complicated?"
Regina didn't know what to say. She wasn't sure what this meant or where it would lead, but as she looked into your eyes, she felt a flicker of hope. Maybe this surprise reunion was the start of something new.
For the rest of the day, she couldn't help but steal glances at you, wondering what the future held. One thing was certain: life at the office was about to get a lot more interesting.

(Any of the other characters don't have any requests written nor pending as for now, so I'm unable to have serieses for them as AO3 requires you to have at least one oneshot written to be able to add it to a series, and I can't promise serieses for characters who don't have requests pending/I have no ideas of my own for them)
For anyone who's concerned, THESE ARE NOT ONESHOT COLLECTIONS, they are made using AO3's "series" feature.
If you want to be informed about new fics for OUAT or its individual characters, create an AO3 account and subscribe or bookmark any of those serieses listed above. There are buttons at the top right corner for those, or on top on mobile. I do not do Tumblr taglists anymore.
Also, if you're wondering, requests are ALWAYS open and you're welcome to leave one or multiple. Just remember to read my rules and pick a request type from this list.

thank you so so much to @thecasualqueer for the tag :DD
1. how many works do you have on ao3?
i have 8 works on ao3 currently and many more in the works :)
2. what's your total ao3 word count?
15,579
3. what fandoms do you write for?
i write mostly for swan queen (emma swan/regina mills), meddison (meredith grey/addison montgomery), and supercorp (lena luthor/kara danvers), but i also have a bunch on rairpair fics in the works :)
4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
nobody warns you before the fall - 219 kudos (i was so surprised at the amount of reception this fic got, i really didn't think anyone would read it lol)
nothing worsens, nothing grows - 156 kudos
so you were never a saint, and i loved in shades of wrong - 106 kudos
this house may be haunted (but not ours) - 68 kudos
probably running away (from the feeling i get) - 50 kudos
5. do you respond to comments?
yes, i always respond, although it usually takes me awhile. i love every single person who has ever commented on my fics :)
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
my fic do you think i have forgotten (about you) is probably my angstiest ending. for context, the fic is about addison montgomery and derek shepherd and the breakdown of their marriage so. (the fact that i wrote a het fic is shocking even to me)
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
this year, to save me from tears, i'll give it to someone special is probably the most optimistic ending for one of my fics.
8. do you get hate on fics?
i haven't so far, i assume i will at some point, but for now everyone has been really positive and encouraging towards me and my writing :)
9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
at the moment i don't write smut, but eventually maybe.
10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've written?
i haven't yet, but i did have an idea for a swan queen and supercorp crossover so maybe
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
no, i don't believe so.
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
no but i would be honored if anyone ever wanted to translate a fic.
13. have you ever co-written a fic before?
no i haven't, but my friend @emily-prentits and i have been working on an idea for a rairpair :D
14. what's your all time favourite ship?
probably swan queen. they never fail to get me in the feels, something about family, and belonging, and finding a place for yourself. also enemies, to reluctant co-parents, to friends, to lovers am i right? they make me so feral (i'm so normal i swear)
15. what's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
my only published wip is so you were never a saint, and i loved in shades of wrong but i sincerely doubt i will ever finish that (it was meant to be a oneshot but i added another chapter and i kinda hate it so)
but because i am actually insane, (i went through my docs and counted for this) i have a grand total of 57 wips, most of which will never be finished, or compounded into other fics.
16. what are your writing strengths?
i think i'm good at characterization, i like to spend a lot of time analysing the characters, and it's very important to me that the characters feel like themselves.
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
one of my weaknesses is description. i am definitely working on it tho. in addition, the amount of time it takes for me to write anything substantial.
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i'm not sure, i think maybe if it was extremely necessary, but otherwise i'm not sure.
19. first fandom you wrote for?
meddison - meredith grey/addison montgomery from grey's anatomy.
20. favorite fic you've written?
oh god wow i'm not sure. i think i'd have to say either do you think i have forgotten (about you) or probably running away (from the feelings i get) are probably my best fics.
no pressure tags :) @emily-prentits @flyingpotstickers @peridotglimmer @horsetailcurlers2 @hummingbirdswords @nostradamus0

Regina x Trans Male Reader !!
regina mills x trans male reader (reminder that this is just in relation to my personal transmasc experience, everyone’s can be vastly different!!)
prompt: regina helping you out w/ dysphoria after rumplestiltskin says some crazy transphobic shit (takes place in storybrooke)
i also tried to not actually trigger anyones gender dysph lmaooooo so i do not get specific about it
Rumplestiltskin looked you up and down with a cold stare.
“I believe that you’re to use the women’s bathroom, dearie.” You felt your face go hot with frustration (and maybe even some embarrassment). God dammit. You just wanted to wash your hands in peace. To be quick and quiet was the best option, so you took a deep breath and scrubbed the soap off your hands with much more vigor and velocity than you had just a few seconds before. The water scalded your hands and turned them a little pinker. Mr. Gold scoffed through his nose.
“Even your low pain tolerance agrees that you are not a man, and it’s likely that you never will be.” Silence no longer felt like your best option. You’d come to Storybrooke as soon as your best friend, Aurora had told you that it would be easier to live as yourself, as a man, in a more modern realm. You didn’t consider that Rumplestiltskin would be trying to get under, well, your skin.
You spoke, as lowly as possible, “What would you know about being a man? You sacrifice your relationships for power. What does that make you?” His gaze faltered, and you felt like you had gotten to him. You also felt just a bit concerned for your safety. Gold took a steady breath and a thourough pause.
“I think that makes me a powerful man. At least more powerful than you. Correct? I recall you coming to me for guidance.” You scoffed, but your lip auivered. Seeking help from Rumplestiltskin back in the Enchanted Forest didn’t make you any less of a man. Everyone had at least once looked for help from the Dark One. Before a salty tear could escape your eye, you fled the men’s restroom and stepped foot back into the welcoming, red-and-blue ambience of Granny’s Diner. You released a shaky sigh and looked for your girlfriend.
Regina. There she was. Even the thought of her made your cheeks warm, despite your prior encounter with Gold. She was chatting comfortably with the Charming’s. Your need for your girlfriend’s warmth made you nearly start running towards your table. She spotted you instantly and smiled genuinely. It was clear you were equally enamored with one another.
“Hey, Y/N,” Regina greeted warmly. She noticed how fast you were walking.
“Hey, hey, slow down, it’s okay.” The well-dressed woman placed a hand on your back and guided you to sit beside her in the booth’s cushiony seat, with your leg touching hers. Regina laughed a little at the sight of you adorably speed-walking to the table. Taking a second glance at you, though, she could tell something bothered you. Your girlfriend’s face darkened with concern.
“Did something happen in the bathroom sweetheart?” Her arm wrapped further around you. Her line of sight travelled behind you when Rumplestiltskin came out of the bathroom.
“That son of a bitch.” Gina was livid. She tried to fathom how Rumplestiltskin could have possibly threatened her boyfriend. He could be up to literally anything. The vein above her right brow bulged so severely you thought it’d burst. You had to admit, her anger was hot. You felt her starting to stand up.
“No, no, Gina. It’s really okay,” you reassured. “No magical threats or sketchy deals were made. Promise.” The woman with burgendy lips looked into your eyes to ensure that you told the truth.
“Okay.” She sighed and crossed her arms, then sat down to kiss your cheek. You leaned in happily. The rest of dinner with the Charmings allowed the two of you to forget about Rumplestiltskin.
…
You locked the front door behind you and Regina and were suddenly too aware of your own body. Friendly chatter from Emma, Killian, David, Snow, and Henry filled your ears just minutes ago. And now, the quiet of Regina’s home flooded your mind with the words of Runplestiltskin.
“Hey, Y/N, baby?” Regina had both hands around your cheeks. You were sitting on the couch. You don’t remember moving at all since getting home. “I was asking you about a movie you wanted to watch, but-“
“Yes! Yeah, I’m sorry. We wanted to watch that movie. I’d love to,” you blurted. You gave your lover a half-smile.
“No. Gold said something to you. He’s plaguing your pretty little head,” she cooed. She sat down beside you and provided you with space to talk with her properly. You smiled at the gesture.
“It was nothing new. He said that I’m not a man. I can’t do anything about that. I feel like a man, but I don’t have the parts.” Regina intook your words with great conscience. Her glossy eyes looked into yours. She spoke after contemplating for a moment.
“If there’s anything I’ve learned from this realm, it’s that rules that we used to abide by back home were not laws of nature. They were laws made by people. And people can be so stupid, my love. That means that we, as smarter people, are allowed to live by rules that fit our logic. And according to my logic, you’re a man, sweetheart, regardless of what body you have. I know that because that’s what you’ve told me, that’s how you truly feel, and that’s how I think of you. You are whatever you think yourself to be. I love you for it, my sweet boy.”
“I love you, Gina. Thank you.” She took her time to memorize your handsome face for the thousandth time.
“Can I come close to you?” your lover asked, gently. You nodded and placed your head in her neck. she took you into her arms and stroked your hair.
“I still want to kill him,” Regina confessed. Her sharp words contradicted the gentle pets that she gave you.
You laughed. “Sure, Gina, just not today.” She couldn’t be upset when you were so calm and cute. Regina kissed your head and chuckled into your ear. You loved the sound of her laugh and the smell of her shampoo. Apple. So fitting.
“Okay, not today,” she sighed lightheartedly. “How about that movie?”
…
Soon, you had both showered and gotten ready for bed. There was no better feeling to you than being clean, on the couch, with your girlfriend about to watch a movie. You laid atop her chest while her legs entrapped your middle. Rumplestiltskin’s comments remained forgotten, and you and Regina remained content.
—
Hope this was okay!! Feel free to comment on anything, if anyone sees this. I’m kinda new to actually writing ff

Bowling for Votes - Regina Mills
Fic #42 of the Hamilton Prompts Song: The Election of 1800 This may also be based off of the Parks & Rec episode of the same name.
“Can we get back to politics, please?” Regina asked, smiling up at you from her desk.
“I’m just saying, if you really want to win, you might have to fight a little dirty.”
“If I want to win,” she corrected, “I’m going to have to work as hard as I can to win the people over.”
“Your opponent is a total buffoon. What have you got to worry about?” She smiled at you and then looked back at her computer. You sighed. Ever since your wife had gotten involved in politics, more importantly with the election for mayor, she had barely had time to talk to you, nonetheless do anything else.
You had complete and total faith in her, you only wished that she had complete and total faith in herself. All she could worry about was polling numbers, and what everyone was thinking about her and her opponent.
“He’s very attractive up north, they like his chances.”
“He’s not very forthcoming with any particular stances,” you said. She didn’t seem to hear you.
“I just don’t see what they could find likable about this guy. He’s so-”
“Approachable. Like you could grab a beer with him. Maybe if you did something fun, instead of being cooped up in your elegantly decorated office, the people would see how cool and amazing and great you are for our city.”
“What do you have in mind?”
“Don’t laugh.”
“What is it?” she asked, smiling at you through red lips.
“How about a bowling night?” Regina couldn’t stop herself, and she did laugh. It was nice to see her smile, and not laugh cynically for once in a long while.
“I’m not the best bowler,” she offered.
“Even better,” you said.
“How is that better?”
“You’ll be more approachable. Nothing makes someone more human than sucking at something so simple.”
“Simple?” she asked with a laugh.
“I’m a great bowler, ask Henry.”
A few nights later, on a Wednesday night, you and Regina pulled up to the bowling alley in Storybrooke. She took a deep breath, and you leaned over to kiss her.
“Don’t worry. You’ll do great. And if not, even better.”
You walked into the bowling alley, and immediately saw Emma and Henry. You greeted them, as you surveyed the crowd. “We have a good turn out,” you said.
“Yeah. I guess those invitations really worked.” You looked back at the door and saw Regina still standing nervously in the doorway. You rolled your eyes and fetched her, dragging her in.
“Relax, mom, you’ll be great,” Henry said with a smile. Regina relaxed a little and looked at you.
“You know what to do. Just talk to people, and listen to their complaints. Just remember that you need to be as least Evil Queen as possible.” She frowned and nodded. You gave her hand one last reassuring squeeze and sent her off.
You, additionally, got to work. You started to network with people, promoting Regina’s platform. You grabbed a beer and looked around the room. You spotted Regina chatting with one of the seven dwarfs, smiling nervously, but genuinely. You smiled, too.
“When all is said and done,” you said, talking to Cinderella. “Regina has beliefs, her opponents have none.”
“Yeah, he’s so elitist!” she said with a laugh. You laughed, too and found Regina’s eyes across the room. The thought graced your mind of sneaking off into the bathroom with her, but knew better. You didn’t want to do anything that would ruin Regina’s chances of winning.
After finishing up with Cinderella, you realized how hungry you are. Making your way over to the concession stand, you wondered what would be a safer bet: bowling alley hotdogs, or bowling alley nachos. However, as you were deciding, you felt Regina grasp your arm.
“What’s wrong?” you asked.
“Charming.”
“What?”
“He just asked me to bowl with him. He and Snow seem to think I need to play bowling.”
“You don’t play- never mind. So go and bowl with them. I’m sure they’re right.”
“I don’t know how,” she whispered.
“You don’t?” you asked in disbelief. “I though you just said you were bad at it.”
“I am, because I have never tried.” You took a breath and ran your hand through your hair.
“Well it’s just Charming. Bowl with him. Even if you suck.” She looked at you uncomfortably. You knew better than anyone that your wife didn’t like loosing. At anything.
You followed Regina and helped her pick out a midnight blue ball off of the rack. You gave her one last kiss good luck before she walked towards the lane. Charming allowed her to go first, and you watched her throw her ball, and have it immediately land in the gutter. She flushed red, but everyone watching just gave an encouraging cheer of clapping.
She looked at you, as the ball came back, and you shot her a thumbs up. This time, when she threw the ball, it only fell into the gutter a few inches from the pins. Although nearly everyone in the bowling alley was watching, no one seemed to mind that she was so bad.
For the entire game, Regina got progressively better. Although she only knocked down ten pins during the entire game, she was a good sport about it. And although you were maybe projecting, it seemed that everyone was proud of her, too. Once the game was over, she took a comical bow and everyone clapped for her. You hadn’t seen her smile that wide since the campaign started.
“You have the people’s vote,” you said to Regina confidently that night. She laughed and looked over at you in bed.
“I don’t know about that. I for sure have their laughs.”
“One and the same,” you said. “You showed a human side to yourself, today. Something that your opponent can only dream off. Plus, I am really proud of you.”
“Really?” she asked.
“Definitely. You’ve got my vote.”
“You weren’t so sure before?” she asked with a laugh.
“Nope,” you said, leaning in to kiss her.

Sydney: Denial?
Regina: What? No, her name is Emma Swan.
Sydney: And what exactly do you want me to do with this Swan? Arrange a bouquet of flowers? A proposal, perhaps?
Regina:
Sydney: It seems you're doing fine without me.

regina mills x reader (gender isn't specified)
- soulmate AU : you cannot see your soulmate's eye colour until you meet them
notes : hi everyone! this is the first little oneshot of the series I'm currently planning to write and post here! there'll be quite a lot of regina x reader, but I'm open to any type of request nonetheless!
i'm sorry in advance if there are typos, it feels like centuries since i wrote my last oneshot, and english isn't my first language. anyway, i hope you'll enjoy the reading!
[ -----------------------------------------------]
"that's... very romantic, but what if you never meet them?" you said, shaking your head as you took a sip of your iced coffee.
you were at granny's, the small diner you discovered with a great feeling of delight due to you recently moving to storybrooke, a small city where your childhood best friend has lived in for ten years now, and since you were looking for a new job, they suggested (harassed would be a more appropriate word) you should definitely come around here.
"i understand you're being sceptical, but you never know what's going to happen. who knows, your soulmate could be in storybrooke?" your friend smiled as you could see a certain twinkle sparkling in their eyes, which you hadn't seen in what felt like centuries.
you sighed, taking the last sip of your drink.
"well, the day I'll stumble upon my soulmate here is also the day i'll go hiking with you." you replied as you emphasised the word "hiking". you weren't much of a sports person, and you absolutely hated when your friend tried to bring you into it without warning.
"you can count on me to remind you that every day of your life when that happens!" they laughed, while the both of you were standing off your seats.
you waved goodbye to them as they crossed the street to get into their car. since you didn't live too far away from the diner, you declined your friend's offer to drive you home. this was also an excuse so you could walk and have some spare time to think.
looking up, you watched your friend drive down the main street. you couldn't see the colour of the car, and in fact, you never have.
pieces were missing, and you longed for them.
living in a world where one or several colours remain unknown until you meet your soulmate wasn't that easy. if you do, everything will fall into place. no more nuances of a blurry grey, and if this one's your soulmate's eye colour, then fades to black. you were reminded of the void, of the shadows everytime you came across it, though it was rare since it fluctuates due to the intensity.
you didn't quite know what was the colour you couldn't see until your friend told you, an hour ago when you ordered an iced coffee. you never managed to remember its name, it made no sense to you. when you're not used to something, it's easier to forget.
"brown." you whispered as you did your best to recall every word of the conversation you've had with them.
you'd been staring at your drink for a few minutes before they dropped the word. they had guessed right, and you were surprised when they told you they've came across a bunch of people who had the same missing colour.
how inconvenient.
as you tried to slow down your racing thoughts, you realised you had stopped walking a while ago.
"i would win the prize of the worst overthinker if it existed..." you muttered, stepping aside to allow some space on the pavement.
you didn't hear the door of the shop quickly opening next to you ; the moment someone bumped into you, you let out a squeak and turned around just in time to grab their hand, preventing them to fall.
"oh my god, i'm so sorry! i will make sure to pay attention next time. are you alright?" you asked as you moved up your palm to their shoulder, a half-concerned and half-guilty look on your face as you checked their clothes. you noticed it was a woman.
"don't worry, it's okay. i've been used to people running into me these days." she said, chuckling slightly. your eyes traveled up her face, lingering a second more on her delicate red lips. until you eventually caught her stare, and that's when a sudden wave of shock got the best of you. you were so confused your hand slowly slipped from her coat.
brown. such a mesmerising colour it was. everything seemed to have stopped. you lost track of time, drowned into the dark, glittering amber eyes of the woman standing right in front of you. you recalled her name, letting it fall down your tongue.
"regina mills."
the letters sounded like music to your ears.
you didn't even bother to look around you as the world was finally becoming complete. you knew what holes needed to be filled with brown, replacing forever the sad fuzzy grey you had grown tired of seeing everyday.
even the mayor herself seemed astonished, though her eyes never turned away from yours.
"i don't think... we have met before?" she breathed, as she took a step forward, the sound of her heels clacking on the pavement.
you could now feel her rich perfume. it was so fine and exquisite you wished you could burry your face into her neck so her fragrance would never leave your skin.
"you're right." you replied, your cheeks slightly colouring at the thought that just crossed your mind. "i moved here not even one week ago."
"oh, that explains everything.."
the way regina's gaze pierced right through you made you crazy. you tried to mark her into your mind, every detail, every small imperfection was printed and traveled your memory now and then, moving like a ghost. visibly, she was doing the same, as her eyes darkened as they traveled your body up and down. finally her lips stretched into a smile, revealing her perfect white teeth. the kind of smile you'd kill for.
"it appears destiny has, once again, made another move." she said, keeping her voice low so only the two of you could hear.
"indeed. and because of it, i'll get my butt kicked during a hiking party." you growled, remembering your friend's words. you could almost hear the proud and victorious tone they'll take once you give them the news.
regina's laugh lingered for a few seconds, the most delightful ones.
"a hiking party? i've never heard of that before."
"yes, that's... quite a story. if you have some time to spare, i would gladly tell you more about it." you smiled.
the mayor's fingers brushed against your skin, making you shiver, as she linked her arm with yours.
"i have all the time in the world to hear it." she whispered in your ear, as you started walking together, heading for your house.
and as the sun was starting to set, you admired every single nuance of colour your eyes could take. you felt safe, at peace. you were happy at the thought of waking up in the morning, knowing you'd never have to face an unstable landscape, filled with holes that used to terrify you. a single tear rolled down your cheek as you realised regina's presence close to you, the closest you've ever been to someone.
little did you know the feeling went both ways. at your side the mayor lifted her head, embracing the street with her gaze.
"it makes sense." she thought, as her eyes stopped as soon as they saw the sky. it was the first time she'd truly ever looked at it. realised how beautiful it was, how it reminded her of your stare, of the soft pink that was spreading on your cheeks in this very moment.
"now that I think of it, I've been stupid enough to forget and ask for your name." you watched the way regina's lips moved as you turned your head to her.
"[first name] [last name]. but i'm willing to be anything you'd call me." your reply echoed into the empty street you were walking in.
"i like it."
she chuckled once again, you caught a glimpse of the smile she was hiding in her scarf.
you wished it would never end.
your life and perception of it were changed forever.
thanks to your soulmate, and her glittering brown eyes.
