To all the Supermarkets and BIG commercial stores that operate 'Self Check-outs'... You are heading towards being almost exclusively self-checkout now. Today I went shopping at one such store and the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone.
I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already filled my cart, emptied my cart and scanned the items, refilled my cart so I just skipped the exit line and left.
I heard her saying "Umm - Excuse me“ as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head and left the store.
You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be.
• I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you.
• If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine.
• Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities.
YOU DON'T PAY ME TO SCAN MY OWN SHOPPING.
YOU DON’T GIVE ME STAFF DISCOUNTS FOR WORKING FOR YOU.
Signed... All of us
People we need to share this statement, its all about PROFIT to the stores AND putting People out of a JOB!!! 🤔

there's a very vague au idea in my head where neil is like a human lab experiment and the lab randomly brings in this up and coming new doctor scientist man (it's aaron) and aaron shows up extremely naive like wow can't wait to Science today i love Science and Medicine and Mad Scientists then he gets there and is like. yo what the fuck that is a whole adult human man.
anyway aaron and neil get close but in that weird scientist lab experiment friendship way (aaron does do some ethically dubious things here bcus i believe in his mad scientist desires) but ultimately he's like okay we have got to get this guy out of here and into real society (he has good intentions AND less good ones here...bcus he does want to see and study how neil interacts with the general public). so he ropes andrew in by being like, hey so remember that new well paying job i got yeah well its unethical human experimentation do you mind trading spots with me every tues/thurs so that we can plan a prison break. and that's how andreil fall in love <3

rewatched madoka magica again today bc i fucking hate myself and to absolutely no one’s surprise i went through all five stages of grief in a single evening
#let’s talk about sayaka miki for a second#genuinely the fact that her whole character is centered around tragedy almost to a shakespearean extent#she’s selfless and brave and values her justice and righteousness above all. calls herself an ally of justice#in fact i think it’s rather intriguing how her whole character is centered around “justice”#her story being a more twisted retelling of the original little mermaid#how she is initially portrayed as a very heroic and confident character even before becoming a magical girl. always shielding madoka#selling her soul to heal the boy she loved out of a selfless desire to see him well again#her being absolutely distraught abt being robbed of her humanity and betrayed by kyubey#she combats this harrowing realization by immersing herself in her duties not caring that she is slowly deteriorating in the process#becoming numb with pain and fighting recklessly and psychotically trying to drown out the pain#finally coming to the sickening conclusion that humanity doesn’t deserve her saving and she succumbs to a fate of her making#last words being “i was so stupid” which trumps her previous statement of “there’s no way i’d regret this”#ALSO? the fact that her costume and weapon are symbolic of a knight. she rly portrays this hero of justice who will protect and defend ☹️#i think abt the fact that homura said that sayaka’s wish was so selfless it was only a matter of time before she died#sayaka being the example of what happens to magical girls who go through the entire cycle and eventually become witches is so sad to me#genuinely just like. sick and twisted#very very fucked up.#characters who have their own misconstrued interpretation of “justice” or who are centered around justice in general.#you will always be dear to me.#sayaka reminds me a lot of akechi in some ways ngl#harboring an almost idealized vision of justice but it slowly rots and festers and corrupts their hearts the more immersed w it they become#actually losing their sanity when they fight bc of how much pain they’re in but refuse to acknowledge it until they break#refusing any help and wallowing in misery despite having ppl who love them and want to save them#last words are those expressing regret for being such a fool. for being ignoring#being used by yhe main villain as a stepping stone towards their true goal. they were merely a pawn#also doomed in every version of their reality. always doomed by the narrative no matter what choices they make#i have a type i fear#HAHAHAH ALSO the fact that they’re both dressed so regally compared to everyone else in their respective series#meant to portray them in a virtuous and princely light. only made more apparent by the sword being their weapon of choice#i’m gonna shut up now but they’re soo eerily similar its unnerving tbh 💀

The most frustrating thing about BNHA is that the villains all bring up interesting discussions about hero society and a world where super powers are the norm, but they're all written to be hypocritical or outright incompetent in order to uphold a black and white view of Heroics. There's zero nuance to any of the conversations in a way that would challenge the protagonists' views of the world.
Stain's ideology argues that hero society is filled with corruption and it was his duty to cleanse it of "false heroes" who care more about fame and money than saving people. And Stain isn't wrong, per se. Contemporary heroics during the time BNHA is set is akin to celebrity influencers who have been given a license to punch people in public. There are people who want to be Heroes for "impure" reasons. Bakugou wants to be rich and famous, per his own words early in the story. Ochako wants money for her family, which is a selfish desire (note: "selfish" isn't inherently a bad thing. Wanting a job purely for the sake of financial stability isn't inherently a bad thing, but it is interesting in the context of choosing a career that's so heavily tied to saving or protecting other people). Enji Todoroki wanted to be the number one hero so badly that he abused and neglected his wife and children in order to reach that goal; it was never about saving innocent people, it was about the glory of being seen as the strongest. Characters like Bakugou, Ochako, and Enji are so interesting because according to Stain they're everything wrong with hero society. Do any of those characters reflect on their motives for being Heroes? No. Do Iida, Shouto, or Midoriya (the characters central to the Stain arc) reflect on their own motives for being Heroes? No. Is Stain's ideology given any real weight in the narrative? Well, no, not really. As far as we know, none of Stain's victims were actually bad people who were corrupt or otherwise morally bankrupt. The only victims we know of are Tensei Iida, who appears to be an all around good person, and Native, whose only crime appears to be being incredibly culturally insensitive (sidenote: I so badly want to know what the hell Native's quirk was to make him think that aesthetic was even remotely okay.) Stain should have been an eye-opener for so many of the characters, but he wasn't because Horikoshi couldn't let him have too valid of a point.
And then there's the LOV. I'm not going to say much about the LOV because I'll just make myself sad over how poorly they were written, but! The main LOV trio does raise a lot of questions about hero society and quirks. Let's ignore AFO's involvement here for a second. Shigaraki, Toga, and Touya all have quirks that are either dangerous or otherwise seen as unsavory. Shigaraki decays anything he touches with all five fingers and he discovers this in a traumatic series of events that leave his entire family dead. Okay, so what systems are in place to either prevent things like this from happening or to help children after they've unintentionally killed someone with their quirk? None that we know of. Eri did something similar by outright rewinding her father from existence, but she's no longer traumatized so everything is fine, I guess. Toga's quirk allows her to transform into anyone so long as she's consumed their blood. She's compelled to consume blood. Okay, so how does society at large handle quirks like Toga's in a way that's safe without demonizing the people with those quirks? Well, we don't really know because Horikoshi doesn't actually want to talk about quirk discrimination as a systemic flaw, instead it's relegated to a personal flaw. [As a sidenote: it's really interesting that there are at least three characters with blood related quirks (Stain, Toga, and Vlad King) and the the two that have to consume blood to use their quirk are villains, while the one that can only control their own blood is a Pro Hero.] And then there's Touya. Now, I'll just be blunt and say that I'm of the opinion that Horikoshi sacrificed Touya and Shouto's writing in order to prop up Enji and make him look better, but that's a different discussion. Anyway, Touya's quirk hurts him. Like with Shigaraki and Toga, there doesn't appear to be any system in place for people who's quirks hurt them. Midoriya has the same issue at first, but learns to control his quirk in like three months which is, again, equating an incompatible or uncontrollable quirk with a personal flaw, rather than something that requires professional or medical support (quirks are a part of someone's DNA. The solution to a harmful or undesirable quirk shouldn't just be "don't use it", that's a bandaid, not a real solution). Could Touya's quirk have been managed with support gear? Maybe. Could Touya have lived a fulfilling life if his Pro Hero father hadn't groomed him to be his successor only to then stop, begin emotionally neglecting him, and not bother to help him control his powerful quirk? Most definitely. And this draws us right back to Stain's ideology, but we already know that Horikoshi doesn't actually want to challenge the societal status quo, so instead the villains are just "bad" or "crazy" and no one actually has to think that hard about the inherent flaws of hero society.

Clam Cookie fell sick to a mysterious illness in her early adult years. Her parents called for the best doctors/healers near them, but no one could figure out a cure. Both being desperate, not wanting their only beloved daughter to die, eventually sought the help of one of the five great cookies, the virtue of knowledge, Light Milk Cookie.
Light Milk Cookie agreed to find a cure, feeling compassion for her parents and for her. Sadly, with how far away his kingdom was from her home, he had to take her with him. So, with hushed goodbyes and tears in their eyes, the two parents watched as the carriage carried their daughter to a faraway kingdom.
And so, the great hero worked day and night to find a cure for the young lady. Thanks to her parents, he found out about the herbs and medicines the other doctors had tried on using. With this information, he would mix or replace specific ingredients for each medicine he would make. One particular medicine he made ended up showing some effect, but it still wasn't enough to cure her fully.
Then he had an idea. An absolute ambitious idea.
Perhaps, with some of his soul jam's essence and a mixture of the medicine, perhaps that could be the cure to her illness? Wasting no time, he hurried on making the new version. Once finished and given to her, he waited to see any changes.
As days went by, signs of the medicine healing her gained his attention. The new version was fully curing her! Relief and fatigue filled his entire body. He had gone a few nights and days without sleeping. At last, all his hard work had come to fruition.
Opening her eyes for the first time, Clam Cookie weakly sat up from bed. Groaning at the uncomfortable feeling of her dry throat, she looked around and noticed a glass of water on the desk next to her. Quickly taking it and gulping the refreshing liquid down, she took in her surroundings.
The colors of purple, blue, and white filled the room she was in. Shelves filled to the brim with books, tapestries dedicated to five certain cookies hung on the walls, and the desk near her had a few scrolls laying upon it.
She jumped at the sound of the door opening. She felt her heart race and her face turning warm as the most beautiful cookie she's ever seen in her life walked into the room. His entire look screamed of a sophisticated scholar. However, she knew he was far more than that as she took in more of his features. What took her attention the most was his hair. It flowed constantly, like that of an endless stream.
Next were his eyes. The dark bags underneath them from the lack of sleep were noticeable to her, but even so, they shined like that of two beautiful sapphires being held up in the sunlight.
Light Milk Cookie stood frozen in place. The look of surprise was written all over his face. This was the first time he had seen her eyes, and by the witches, they were absolutely mesmerizing!
Her eyes were the darkest blue, like that of the deep blue ocean. Her long, unkempt hair, which hung loosely behind her back in waves, only made her even more beautiful.
Both were at a loss of words. Neither one of them was able to speak as they studied each other. Clearing her throat, she finally spoke, "W-who are you? Where am I?" Snapping out of his trance, Light Milk Cookie gave her a gentle smile before closing the door.
"Please, have no fear, Clam Cookie. I only came in to check on you." He proceeded to walk closer to her, but stopped once he noticed her flinch. He raised up both his hands, signaling to her that he meant no harm.
"I only want to check if you still have a fever," he spoke softly at her. His tone easily taking away any tension she may have had of him.
"You've been sick for many weeks. This is the first time I've seen you fully awake." Now standing next to her, he gently placed a cool hand on her forehead. He paid no mind to her gasp, only taking note of her fever no longer there.
Humming in approval, he took his hand off and stepped back. With a wave of his hand, he summoned a scroll and a feathered quill pen, jotting down notes of her improved condition.
Clam Cookie looked at the display of magic in awe, her eyes shining as she watched the handsome scholar write.
"I will have to inform your parents about this, but you'll have to stay with me for just a few more days. I need to make sure the symptoms don't return." Looking back at her, he covered his mouth, chuckling at her reaction.
"I'm going to assume you've never seen magic before, yes?"
Clam Cookie shook her head, confirming his question. "I-I've only heard tales and stories of cookies being able to wield magic. I knew they were true, but to actually see it happen in front of me…" Light Milk Cookie couldn't help but blush as her eyes sparkled up at him with absolute admiration.
".. It's absolutely breathtaking."
One would assume her words were aimed directly at his display of magic, but with the way she gazed at him with those eyes, he knew those words were meant for him.
Clearing his throat, he set the scroll and quill down on the desk before turning his attention back to her. He gave her a bow, surprising her from the action.
"Forgive me, Clam Cookie. I haven't fully introduced myself. My name is Light Milk Cookie." he raised his head, gracing her with a charming smile that made her heart skip a beat.
"Though, you may also know me as one of the Five Great Heroes. The Virtue of Knowledge himself."

Doesn't Disney's Hercules take massive liberties compared to its source religion?
Such as:
Zeus is a faithful husband and Hera is Herc's mother. Pegasus exists at the same time as Medusa and not after. Narcissus is a God and not a cursed mortal. Hades is a Satanic figure and not a neutral God at best. Megara is alive and not killed by Herc. Etc.
But most of all: There are several modern day stuff like Herc's merchandise.
So I made a post a while back critiquing Helluva/Hazbin for not being faithful to source material, but I’d like to fix my statement and clarify:
Straying from source material isn’t a bad thing at all. But if you misunderstand the source material, mishandle it by missing the point, or contradict the lore your story overwrote, then I’d say it’s a fair basis for criticism.
Hazbin/Helluva introduces lore that doesn’t abide by its source material (which should also state, originated from a dozen translations as well as several books, not just the Bible) and that’s fine, until it contradicts that very material it just introduced for itself.
Hercules is modernized, simplified, and censored for the audience they wanted to cater to. Granted it’s been a while since I’ve seen the film, however, I don’t recall Hercules contradicting its lore within the movie they built.

So… I did jingliu’s companion mission…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you’re telling me that the only thing that’s been keeping this woman alive is hatred and a promise she made to someone she loved like eons ago… and that the reincarnation of that same woman who she made the promise to told her that she could cure her mental turmoil if only she let herself rid of the torments of the past, and jingliu was like “nope, my pain is the only thing that’s keeping the memory of my loved one alive, so I shall bare it till the stars go dark” TO HER FACE. And then proceded to tell her that even though she couldn’t physically do anything to aid her illness, just by being near her once again, she healed more than any medicine could’ve ever done.
So, she’s doomed by immortality to live her life infinitely with the grief of the loss of the one she loved + the loss of her own sanity, and the guilt of the deeds made whilst she wasn’t lucid in her own body. Believing herself a sinner and a criminal, with no memories of the good times, all stolen by her own mind- with only hatred left towards the people that she once called her friends. A revenge that could never be fulfilled by her own blade. So, she seeks for one last final respite before being locked away at last, to serve her due. She tries one final time to draw blood, to diminish, to sever- to grant a favor, to end a life. And throughout that last display of violence she gets, once again, to see a flash of the face that she had missed so dearly, of a soul she once loved that until then had been stored amongst forgotten phantoms of what once was. In the end neither of them get what they sought. Either way, they are doomed to keep trying still, for eternity. To hate each other. To mourn. To hate themselves, to punish themselves, to punish each other. To kill. To die. To be reborn, yet again, with the same weight on their shoulders and a feeble mind that’s just on the verge of collapse. Sick and tired. Forever.
