@zodiacsea replied to your post “I wonder where the idea of putting...”:
i think it’s meant to prevent the bread from molding? it’s smth my partner’s family always did but i never did it growing up. we do it now bc ramza insists on it but i do think it makes the bread go stale like way faster LMAO
Oh, that makes sense actually! Didn't even think about the mold aspect of bread, and I'm sure the bread drying out and going stale helps prevent mold too 🙈
#Sunny Life#zodiacsea#you have mold free bread but at what cost#climate probably has something to do with it too like if you live in a place that's very humid and hot refrigeration might help#listening and learning and all that

In honor of tomato season coming at last, I'm gonna share my favorite grilled cheese recipe:
Take 2 slices of french bread, about 1/2" thick each, (or whatever other bread you want. It'd probably be just fine on white bread, I've never tried it yet). Spread with butter on one side, sprinkle on parmesan cheese, and stick in the oven (put it on the broil setting, or about 500°F) until the butter is melted and the bread starts to turn golden. This should take about 3-5 minutes.
Take out of the oven and flip over; spread cream cheese on both pieces. You want a good thick layer. top with mozzarella cheese (one sandwich slice, half on each piece of bread, is ideal. You don't have to. Go ahead and use shredded or sliced off a block, get it from a nice deli if you want. I use the cheap stuff from walmart), garlic powder and diced onion or onion powder, and a *light* sprinkle of salt.
Now, for the most important part: take one or two fresh cherry tomatoes, and slice those bad boys up (use a sharp knife so you don't end up smushing the seeds out). Put that on top of the mozzarella, and stick it back in the oven until all your cheese is nice and melty (this should only take a couple minutes).
Take it back out of the oven, let it cool a little bit, and enjoy! The cream cheese and the tomato are the real important players here, it's a very interesting flavor and texture.
#recipes#grilled cheese is my lifeblood ok I don't play around#this makes a good midnight snack it only takes about 10 minutes to make at most#and is a good way to use leftover bread before it goes moldy (though refrigerating the bread helps with that)#and also a good use for cherry tomatoes#because we always get a TON of those they pop up from the seeds that drop in the fall and this year? Ohhh boy. SO many.#And they're not big enough for most sandwiches but they're PERFECT for this. And pizza of course#grilled cheese#cooking#food discussion

It may be silly and quaint but I like to daydream about my future fridge that is organized by just me…
Eggs would be in a clear, reusable container so i can see how many are left
A well kept drawer just for cheese
Perishables like potatoes and fruits would be front and center, easy to grab and see if they’ve gone bad
Clear nozzled bottles that are labeled for different cooking oils wether it be cooking wine, olive oil, etc all labeled with the name and last restock date
A drawer for herbs like garlic cloves and other vegetables in that sort of vein
Little clear organiser baskets of snacks places in a line like they would be at the grocery store
Sodas also in a similar clear container so i can see when to restock
2 % milk and Heavy cream aplenty as well as whipped cream
A butter section seperate from everything so i dont have to go digging for it every time….
Everything neat and tidy and easily accessible for any recepie I may try
OH! And a basket organizer purely reserved for leftovers in tupperware so they dont get forgotten about
#thats the dream……#and people who respect my fridge space#oh glory i cant wait for the day i have my own refrigerator#a man can only dream#oh and my kitchen to have a dinosaur themed apron waiting for me????#come home to a beautifully clean kitchen ready for me to work#and a large sink so dishes are a bit easier to handle#a beautifully organized cabinet#and fresh herbs growing in pots by the windowsil#i need rosemary for a recepie?#you bet im grabbin it fresh#basil? thyme? mint? bay leaves?#you got it baby#tomatoes too so when bills run high we still have a heart source#would love to grow more things too#home gardens are the best form of anarchy#ohhhhhh and i’d have the best potato peeler#OHHHHH and a big ol blog or metal bar with plenty of knife variations!#my fridge also has space for letting bread rise#everything is simple and easy to access#the whole kitchen is decorated with dinosaurs#theres dino magnets on the fridge holding up whatever is available to cook#theres stickers on the air fryer#and a waffle maker and toaster#oh and a combination flatop stove#idk electric or propane#maybe propane but that can be annoying to change#it would be so beautiful…..

whoever came up with selling 'snacking paninos' at 2 for $2.50+ was an absolute scam artist. my dude, that is a single piece of salami wrapped around a mozzarella stick, you are fooling no one "say the line, bart!" *sigh* store brand 12-ct mozzarella string cheese pack is $4.79, but comes out to ~$0.40/ea, and the store brand genoa salami (selected for being the same salami in the product mentioned above) is measured in oz, but I can see from the picture there's more than 12 pieces. For the sake of argument, I'm pretending it's only 12 in there, leading to the 5oz unit price of $4.49 coming out to ~$0.37/ea. So you could get 12 salami-and-cheese-stick depression snacks (no judgment! it's one of my go-tos, I just don't call it a panino when it isn't!) at $0.77/ea, or have two at a time for $1.54, saving you almost a dollar off the premade two-packs.
I don't say any of this as a judgment call against people buying the two packs for convenience or preference, I say it as judgment against whoever is upcharging on said two packs when I know they sure as hell aren't giving that extra money to whoever is tasked with rolling mozz sticks in salami and sealing them in plastic all day.
#don't make me become a word problem character in the middle of the refrigerated aisles again. i'll do it. no one will be happy.#also idk why y'all are calling them paninos bc there is not a crumb of bread anywhere near these but WHATEVER#it would also be panini. but that means 'little bread' and again there is no bread here#food cw

How to avoid White Room Syndrome
by Writerthreads on Instagram
A common problem writers face is "white room syndrome"—when scenes feel like they’re happening in an empty white room. To avoid this, it's important to describe settings in a way that makes them feel real and alive, without overloading readers with too much detail. Here are a few tips below to help!
Focus on a few key details
You don’t need to describe everything in the scene—just pick a couple of specific, memorable details to bring the setting to life. Maybe it’s the creaky floorboards in an old house, the musty smell of a forgotten attic, or the soft hum of a refrigerator in a small kitchen. These little details help anchor the scene and give readers something to picture, without dragging the action with heaps of descriptions.
Engage the senses
Instead of just focusing on what characters can see, try to incorporate all five senses—what do they hear, smell, feel, or even taste? Describe the smell of fresh bread from a nearby bakery, or the damp chill of a foggy morning. This adds a lot of depth and make the location feel more real and imaginable.
Mix descriptions with actions
Have characters interact with the environment. How do your characters move through the space? Are they brushing their hands over a dusty bookshelf, shuffling through fallen leaves, or squeezing through a crowded subway car? Instead of dumping a paragraph of description, mix it in with the action or dialogue.
Use the setting to reflect a mood or theme
Sometimes, the setting can do more than just provide a backdrop—it can reinforce the mood of a scene or even reflect a theme in the story. A stormy night might enhance tension, while a warm, sunny day might highlight a moment of peace. The environment can add an extra layer to what’s happening symbolically.
Here's an example of writing a description that hopefully feels alive and realistic, without dragging the action:
The bookstore was tucked between two brick buildings, its faded sign creaking with every gust of wind. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of worn paper and dust, mingling with the faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee from a corner café down the street. The wooden floorboards groaned as Ella wandered between the shelves, her fingertips brushing the spines of forgotten novels. Somewhere in the back, the soft sound of jazz crackled from an ancient radio.
Hope these tips help in your writing!
