Next sewing project: Frankenstining two small pants into one pair that fits! I love upcycling my old clothes, and these colours are perfect for the season. The zipper is on the oppisite side on the other pair, so I'll have to figure my way around that... I'm hoping to complete these today. Remains to be seen how overly optimistic that schedule will be!

Saira’s so right btw because sometimes your sanctuary and your safe space is the worlds worst studio apartment that’s about to be torn down for unsafe living conditions (i have not had clean drinking water for two weeks) (this is a cry for help)

dragon age fandom really is incredible bc it will hold to its mother&son headcanons way past the point of reasonableness. sometimes an older woman is not a mother figure to every man she ever interacted with. shocking, i know. sometimes they even fucked raw. oh my!

It's a beginner-friendly tutorial with detailed step-by-step instructions, and I can't wait for you to watch the whole video. out! Don't forget to share your thoughts on these unique bras in the comments. Happy sewing!

finally cracking on with the first of the two skirts that need refitting!
so this skirt started out as a fabric rescue from a failed project quite a few years ago, so it was never particularly well made- more sewn with frustration than anything! i ended up really loving the silhouette though & its become one of my favourite pieces to style. its a full circle skirt, but cut with a big waist & gathered up for about 4 inches at the back, emulating victorian walking skirts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ive already rehemmed it, but the zip and waistband have annoyed me since i first did them (it was before i really got my head around how i wanted to do this style of waistband- the hook and eye never really worked 🙃) and now... well its significantly too big, so its finally time to fix it!
heres the plan:
the waist needs to come in about 4 inches, so im going to remove the entire waistband and readjust the gathering to take it in to the correct size. while im here im going to replace the zip with an invisible zip & just... fix that whole situation.... then ill reattach the waistband, fixing up the ends & leaving an overhang to add a hook and bar!
i might also FINALLY try and really get that crease out of the front

PRESIDENT RINGS!!!! i'm sorry to ask but how do i become a free member for ur patreon again 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ i vaguely remember u saying how to become one n i lost the post in my likes </3
NO WORRIES AT ALL :D i do remember answering how to become one but i can't find it in my posts either now 😭😭 ANYWAYYYYY what u do is:
click the patreon link on my bio
click the ellipsis button next to the little shooky
pick join for free :D
dw about it bc the join for free button is always obscure for creators with some 18+ pieces, but the free option will never leave :-) u can be a free member for as long as u like and upgrade to being a paid member anytime, then downgrade to being a free member anytime too!! i occasionally post pieces (n keep them up for a few days) for the free member tier as gifts ANDDDD patreon rolled out this autpilot (i do Not know the mechanics im so so sorry) thing wherein their system offers free upgrade offers and smart discounts to selected members <3

Kinda obsessed with this make! Late 1930s/early 40s. Refashioned from a wonky black dress and patterned blouse I made ages ago. I took the rose appliqué off a sweatshirt my late grandma gave me 🌹

Colour blocked sweatshirt: the adventure
So I got inspired and started on a little something which I decided - for my sake - to document.
This was the primary inspo:
Tumblr media
I've got precisely two styles. One's a cottage fairy and the other is Nick Nelson. Whatever. That's how I roll.
The catch is, I'm broke, which means this will have to be a 'buy nothing for it' project. Which is cool, it makes things fun and alleviates some of the pressure I can put upon myself when sewing.
Good thing is I'm an owner of junk. In this case some hand-me-down baby blankets junk which I never used for my babies, duh. They're also not fancy enough for a second hand shop or a charity, so I'm okay with cutting them up and experimenting with the fabric.
As my friend says: I'm gonna Rachel Maksy this sweatshirt.
Tumblr media
As anyone who's not colorblind can see, the colours do not really match the inspo. But that's ok, we'll see where the gods of improvisation will take us.
Tumblr media
What an artistic portrayal of possibilities!
I ended up choosing the one circled in green due to the amount of fabric in different colours I had. If you ask me, all of them look like hockey shirts. That's probably thanks to my astounding drawing skills!
So I drafted a pattern by copying two of my already existing sweatshirt and some help from YouTube.
Tumblr media
Pattern pieces pinned in place.
Of course my dumb ass forgot to add seam allowance which means I'll have to trace every piece of the pattern onto the fabric again. But that's a tomorrow's me problem.
In case you thought sewing is fast, this part took me around three hours. Yay!
To be continued...

LOLOL oh fuck me. I thought it would be pretty straightforward to get the stains out of this emergency-purchase shirtwaist, but it looks like the stains are actually from rusty water, not an organic source. I think my easiest recourse at this point is to tea-dye it to cover the stains. This shirt is for Sunday, by the way, LOL. So dye this afternoon, dry tonight, do minor repairs Saturday, wear Sunday. How did I... how did this end up being my life? What even is this? Who am I?
