Gojo Satoru sees you for the first time at a mutual friend's party—and immediately his eyes get stuck on you. the entire time he's watching you drink leisurely at the end of the couch, and roll your eyes at the dude bros attempting to flirt with you, while you ignored them.

after 40 mins of staring, he comes up to you and shoves the guy —pathetically trying to get you to sleep with him— off the armrest of the couch you're sitting on. Satoru just ignores the guy shouting at him and and throwing a fit on the floor. he takes a seat on the armrest instead and looks you dead in the eyes, and goes;

"you look like someone who thinks men ain't shit and would probably make a face that alone would make me cry."

you raise one of your eyebrows at him just a bit amused. confused whether he was trying to pick a fight or what else was he trying at. he goes on and continues what he was saying;

"so please fuck me."

obsessed with the fact that on one of the first instances lisa met carla she was arresting her husband for murder. then, her father figure. then, her nephew (whom carla covered for). and she thought god, this woman and her air of snotty aloofness with a whiff of suppressed rage and all of her crime adjacent loved ones. (gorgeous but a lot to deal with). still, she was all excited after one friendly conversation with her and decided to leave betsy under her care at work. saw carla pick a fight with joel, almost smacking him. only coherent thought? she needs!protecting! further on, she had carla questioned for slamming a car door onto a kid’s bike and landing him in the hospital. did a full background check on her, saw her previous charges. thought you know what, she’s a bit ✨spicy✨. proceeded to fall deeper for her. heard carla say she didn’t have any regrets, really, about her actions, her brain went let’s go check on her, she was in a mood this morning. they slept together, teased carla about being a dark horse (reformed, actually) (would’ve been perfectly fine even if she had been a full on criminal). carla herself gave her multiple times a way out, too scared herself to be too much and too little for lisa. the only thing she managed to come up with was i’m in it, right up to my neck and a half deal with a real criminal to ensure her girlfriend got her kidney.

fast forward a couple months, they have their first proper fight, in a moment of distress she tells carla she should’ve trusted her instincts about her. and her thought process is hilarious, really. like, which instincts, love? the ones that brought you right there with carla in the first place, after three years of grief and feeling unable to love anyone else ever? the ones that made you see right through carla’s fiery facade straight into her huge heart? that made you trust her judgement with your kid since day one? that made you risk your entire career and then almost your life just to make sure she was okay? (you’re good to me, carla) (as far as i’m concerned i’m investing in my future and it’s the best possible future i could imagine) (my partner is dying, i can do anything). should’ve trusted your instincts alright

I ask this as an Ambroys appreciator, but I genuinely need to know: Does our boy have any redeeming qualities?

...Yeah. Not really.

Ambroys is, for me, a fun exercise in making a character who is basically nothing but flaws. And they aren't even the "good" flaws.

He's not one of those "hates the world but fights to the death for his loved ones" types; he will throw his loved ones under bus to look good for strangers, who he also doesn't respect. He's not "an asshole but he owns it" because he will bend to other people's wills to try to appease them while continuing to be an asshole behind their backs. He's manipulative but not because he's a clever chess-master, he's just audacious and shameless enough to lie and guilt-trip people without remorse. He's too ignorant to be sophisticated but too educated to be naive. He can fight well enough, but he doesn't seek out worthy foes, only weaker enemies he can easily grind into the dirt for a cheap thrill. He's a coward. He's lazy. He doesn't "get" art. He has no convictions. He sucks!

But I think the fun with Ambroys is that he's such a worthless person, but he so, so desperately wants to be admired and praised and just liked. So he has to engage in this dance of maintaining a good public face over the void of his personality, where he tries to appeal to people while also being able to indulge his vices, because he doesn't believe anything he does or thinks is wrong... just unpopular. But being unpopular is worse than being wrong.
