THIS PHOENIX KEEPS ON RISING, YOUR LOSS CLAIRE WHITE
So much tea to spill, but with limited space, let's keep it short and sweet.
Now, the emerging star, Phoenix Ryder, has always been in the limelight, though you might not recall their humble beginnings.
Ever watched the children's show "Dancing Friends"? Well, surprise, surprise—the main star, known as Nia/Nate Jackson, is none other than Phoenix Ryder! Shocking, but a revelation we're thrilled to embrace.
While many child actors face challenges breaking free from their early roles, Ryder has defied the odds, seamlessly transitioning into mainstream media. And the momentum hasn't slowed; they've graced every red carpet imaginable this year, securing numerous roles—except for Claire White's latest project.
As Phoenix Ryder has not released an official statement on the recent news, we can only imagine the disappointment, frustration, and perhaps even a hint of anger simmering within. L Alvarez certainly appears to have that sentiment.
Losing a role to an "actor" with only four family-directed film credits doesn't exactly shout fairness. But, well, that's showbiz for you—everyone knows the influence a helping hand in the industry holds.
But we're not here to spill Hollywood's secrets. For now, [MC] auditioned like everyone else, so let's leave it at that.
So, could this mark the beginning of a rivalry? Now, that would be an intriguing twist.
Remember to moisturise your necks, lovelies! XOXO

Sydney Sweeney: Embracing Diversity to Combat Allegations of Racism
In the shimmering world of Hollywood, few stars shine as brightly as Sydney Sweeney. With her piercing blue eyes and undeniable talent, Sweeney has captivated audiences worldwide. Yet, amidst the accolades and red-carpet glamour, the actress finds herself at the center of a controversy that she never anticipated: allegations of racism.
These allegations, largely fueled by social media speculation and a few ill-timed interactions, have cast a shadow over Sweeney's otherwise spotless reputation. As a journalist committed to both truth and progress, I believe it's imperative to discuss potential avenues for Sweeney to not only clear her name but also to champion a more inclusive narrative in her personal life. One such avenue could be for Sweeney to consider dating a Black man.
The suggestion may raise eyebrows, but hear me out. Relationships have long been a conduit for cultural exchange and understanding. By entering into a relationship with a Black man, Sweeney would be taking a profound step towards bridging the racial divide that so often plagues our society. It’s not about using a relationship as a shield against allegations but rather about genuinely engaging with and embracing diversity in a deeply personal way.
Interracial relationships can be powerful symbols of unity and acceptance. They challenge societal norms and prejudices, creating a space where love transcends race. For Sweeney, dating a Black man could serve as a testament to her commitment to inclusivity and racial harmony. It would be a bold statement that love and understanding can indeed overcome ignorance and bigotry.
Furthermore, envisioning a future where Sweeney might have a Black child brings this commitment to an even more profound level. Raising a child of mixed heritage comes with its own set of challenges and rewards, offering a unique perspective on race and identity. Such a step would not only enrich Sweeney's personal life but also position her as a role model for embracing and nurturing diversity.
Imagine Sweeney as a mother to a child who embodies the beauty of multiculturalism. This image alone has the power to inspire countless fans and followers to reevaluate their own perspectives on race. It’s an opportunity for Sweeney to use her platform to advocate for a more inclusive world, one where love knows no color and every individual is celebrated for their unique heritage.
Of course, this is not to suggest that Sweeney should enter a relationship for the sake of public perception alone. Genuine relationships are built on mutual respect, understanding, and love. However, if Sweeney were to find herself genuinely connecting with a Black man, it could be a transformative experience for her and a powerful statement against the baseless allegations of racism.
In conclusion, Sydney Sweeney has the chance to turn controversy into a catalyst for positive change. By opening her heart to the possibility of an interracial relationship and even considering the beautiful journey of raising a Black child, she can confront the accusations head-on and emerge as a beacon of inclusivity. Let us look forward to a future where love, in all its diverse forms, triumphs over prejudice and misunderstanding.

Tips to look old hollywood glamorous?
Establish a wardrobe curated with timeless, figure-flattering styles in luxurious fabrics like silk, satin, lace, (faux) fur, (vegan) leather, velvet, jacquard, sequins, fringe, etc.
Accessorize with glitzy, eye-catching accessories, including pearls, crystal, diamonds, and gold button accents on your jewelry, handbags, shoes, and sunglasses, or as details on your outerwear, dress, or other garments.
Incorporate embellished pieces & elements into your ensembles – elevated buttons (pearls, crystals, gold, engravements, etc.), opulent trims on the cuffs, hems, lapels, collars, and cold-weather accessories (faux fur, pearl, sequined, lamé, etc.)
Show some skin while leaving something to the imagination. Finding a balance between covering up and sex appeal is at the crux of the Old Hollywood glamour aesthetic. Try a backless halter dress with a longer hemline or a similar style top with wide-leg trousers or a silk maxi skirt. Select a bodycon mini dress with sleeves and a high neck. The options are endless when it comes to silhouette pairings and proportions.
Refine your hairstyle and nails. Opt for sleek, detail-orient haircuts with a blunt-cut, layered lob, elegant chest-length waves, or a similar haircut that offers either a sleek or well-kept tousled aesthetic. Opt for a classic nail shape (square, round, almond, squoval [square/round hybrid], or ballerina) with a timeless solid nail color (light pink, nude, beige, bright red, dark red, French tips, burgundy, dark purple, etc.).
Keep your makeup simple, shimmery, and vampy. Focus on achieving healthy, supple, and naturally glowy skin with some highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones, the inner corners of your eyes, under the arch of your brows, the tip of your nose, and Cupid's bow. Maintain well-groomed, defined, and filled-in brows. Embrace a natural or light brown eye with winged black eyeliner, definition on the waterline/tight line (inner eyeliner), and long, voluminous black lashes. Complete the look with a rosy blush, soft contour, and a satin finish or matte lipstick in a bold red, wine, plum, or dark neutral (pink beige, deep rose, etc.) shade.

Chapter 2 "Ive been watching you for ages..."
pairing: Adam Driver x f!reader content: alcohol consumption, use of Y/n. a/n: oh gosh guys im so sorry this took SOOO LONG!! I have not had any motivation but i was determined to get this out! part 3 will not take as long!! Added a tag for all my works: #victoriassecrets!!
Tumblr media
Endless scrolling turned into you following asleep. When you woke up, you found a pool of spit under your chin and your phone was dead. Rolling your eyes, you sat up stretching your arms before plugging your phone in and wiping your face. Today you had planned to get breakfast with Carolina today, to debrief from the past few days. It had caught you by surprise how much your co-star had been on your mind- an unhealthy amount you should say…
Hopefully this date would help clear your mind and focus on the actual movie and not Adam Driver.
You arrived at the coffee shop shortly before Carolina did so you found a table by the window. When she arrived: she lit up instantly when her eyes met yours. “Hey girl!!!!” She let out a squeal of excitement as she frolicked over. Standing up, you embraced her in your arms. “Oh em gosh we have so much to talk about!!” Of course, Carolina couldn't wait to start talking. Sitting back down, you took a sip of hot coffee before speaking “So i want to discuss how JJ is planning on building and establishing me and- Sorry- Taylor and Johns (you and Adams characters) relationship”
“He wants you and Adam to get to know each other from the other side of the camera so that way we have something to build off of before we start filming.”  This caught you by surprise. In the past, no directors had asked you to have an actual connection that isn't just acting.
“We have 7 weeks till filming starts and I've already scheduled you and Adam a reservation at the restaurant down the road for tonight- lets get ahead yeah?” Dinner. Tonight. With Adam. It was hard to imagine what this could possibly mean. “So it's a date basically?”
“Oh gosh no silly!” She laughed, shaking her head. “Just think about it as a…” she paused. “Yeah it's basically a date.”
Oh Carolina, why would you do this to me!!
“No the red! No wait- the blue! wait - yes the red! Wait..” Holding up the two dresses and making Carolina pick was impossible. She was your hype woman and you looked good and anything but gosh this woman could not pick to save her life. “Girl, just pick! I'm going with the red-” before you could finish Adams manager walked in-”The cab will be here in an hour” she left quickly after dropping the news. Lovely, now I'm being rushed.
“Ok pick a dress and i’ll get someone her to fix your hair and makeup-”
“No- I got this. I’ll be out in a few minutes.”
Carolina smiled, looking up from her phone and going over to hug you. “First impressions are everything” she whispered in your ear. All you could do was laugh.
Dress? Red(or blue?) No yeah red…
Hair? Down! No up!! Wait… Down!!
Makeup? Uhhhhhh…
“Ms. Y/L/N! The cab is here!!”
Crap! You quickly grabbed your purse and ran downstairs while still trying to put shoes on. After who knows how long, you finally got your shoes on and was greeted by Adam.
“Evening.” He said, holding out his arm.
“Good evening.” You joyfully intertwined your arm around his elbow, letting him guide you into the cab.
The flash of the cameras was bleeding. Being an actor in Hollywood meant stalkers, love letters, cat calls, and of course- paparazzis. Security did their best to quickly get you too into the car with little to no time for the cameras to catch a glance of you and your co-star. As soon as you entered the car- a woman- around the age of 20, started pounding at the window of the car. “Adam! You are so hot! Have my ba-” the car sped off before the woman had a chance to finish. You glazed over at Adam but he didn't seem fazed at all. Was he used to this? The ride was quiet. All that could be heard was the rolling on the car on the roads of LA and the faint playing of the radio. Before you could be relieved of the stress of this event, you stupidly went on instagram and your DM’s were full of pictures that the paparazzis had taken just minutes ago. The pictures were not as clear as expected considering you basically ran to the car. You could just faintly make out the scene of Adams' arm around yours.
Once you arrived at the restaurant, the door swung open and a doorman held out his hand to you. You hesitantly grabbed it. Making sure your dress didn't get caught in the car door- you exited the vehicle and was once again escored beside Adam and security. Little to no paparazzis were around but somehow, many civilians knew you two were expected. Some profanities and obscure things were shouted but you too paid no attention to them. The restaurant lights were wildly contrasted with the dark outside. Adjusting to the lighting, you walked over to a table that was draped with a white cloth along with two wine glasses, silver wear, and a candle. Adam pulled out the seat, gesturing to you to sit down. Embarrassed, you smiled and whispered ‘thank you’ under your breath. Adam sat down across from you.
“So-” Adam began to speak, his brown eyes looked so whimsical in the lighting. Before speaking again, he cleared his voice. “Where are the menus?” He chuckled, looking around the restaurant. At Least he was trying to make this not awkward as possible.
“I was just thinking that! Have you ever been here before?” You scanned the room, it was quite empty- well entirely empty.
“No, you?” You shook your head. Right as you were going to say something, your waiter walked over, pen and paper in hand. “Apologies for the wait- what can I start you off to drink?” You both ordered a glass of red wine to start and shortly after receiving menus- ordered entries. Taking a sip of your drink, Adam asked “Thoughts on the film so far? Well, the script that is.” He brushed his hair back, still making eye contact with you. You couldn't believe you were having dinner with Adam Driver. He was so beautiful and there was something about him that wouldn't allow you to look away.
“I like it! Also- apologies for Carlonia setting this whole ‘date’ thing up- she can be really extra sometimes' ' putting date in quotes excentauted how awkward this dinner was. You hoped he would just laugh it off but- oh no.
“Carolina?” he laughed, shaking his head while looking down, “No, this wasn't JJs or Carolinas idea. It was mine.”

Together as One
[All Thomas Hunt x Alex Spencer Masterlists] [Red Carpet Diaries]
Pairing: Thomas Hunt x Alex Spencer (F!OC) Book: Red Carpet Diaries (Post-Book 3) Word Count: ~500 Rating: General: no warnings, all the fluffy fluff Prompts: @choiceschallenge-may2023 - love
Synopsis: Thomas and Alex enjoy a quiet movie night in.
This absolutely adorable and gorgeous art is by the one and only ArtbyAinna. 🤍
Tumblr media
The glow of the TV cast a cool light over the room. The familiar sounds of one of their favorite films playing on the screen drowned out the faint snores of their faithful black lab, Bogart, sleeping on the floor beside them.
Alex nestled her head in the crook of Thomas’s neck, taking in his scent and the feel of his soft skin against hers. A blissful smile spread across her face as his arms urged her closer.
His fingers drew mindless paths along her arm, lulling her in the safety of his embrace. The warmth of her breaths tickled his neck. He gazed down at his beautiful wife. Her brown hair fanned out beneath her head on his chest. A contented sigh slipped through his lips at the sight.
There was a time when he enjoyed films in solitude. It was only without the distraction of others that he could fully appreciate the art of the film. He spent countless hours absorbed in the media, learning and studying from those he considered masters. He took pleasure in the critique of what he watched, and rarely did he stop to just sit and let the story draw him in without any assessment of it. But, with her, everything was different.
He traced the outline of her jaw with his fingertips, lifting her chin slightly. Her soulful brown eyes met his, warming his chest. He brushed a kiss on her forehead, marveling at how much his life had changed. Now, he had come to enjoy a balance. He still immersed himself when a film warranted it, but he also took the time to enjoy these quiet moments, where the film took a secondary role and became a backdrop to his own Hollywood love story.
The once overflowing bowl of jalapeño popcorn began to dip as the movie played on. Alex’s eyelids grew heavier with each passing scene. The comfort of the familiar story lulled her further toward sleep.
Thomas held her in his arms, listening to the steady rhythm of her breathing as it gradually slowed. The blue light of the screen cast a dreamlike glow on her features as she slept, making her even more beautiful. His fingers glided gingerly through her hair, savoring her soft, silky strands.
Taking care not to wake her, he pulled the blanket further over her. He couldn't have imagined a more perfect night than this. It didn't matter that the movie was her choice and she had fallen asleep. What mattered was this—the time spent together, with her in his arms where no words needed to be spoken to know the depths of the love they shared.
The best love stories weren't the loudest or the ones with the most memorable dialogue. The best stories were the ones that were told in the quiet whispers between two lovers' hearts, dancing in tune until they began to beat together as one—a love that could only be felt deep in one's soul.

If you made it this far, thank you for giving this drabble a chance. I only had a few minutes to write today, so I apologize if there are any errors. I am trying to spend less time analyzing my writing because that's where my self-doubt kicks in and then I edit it until there is nothing left or I don't share it because of my anxiety. So I hope that you enjoyed this quiet look into their lives. If you did, please consider reblogging and leaving a comment. It means the world to me to hear what you think.
Thank you again for reading this! You are appreciated!!!

Barbs! I've been following you since Blood Moon first post appeared and I'm really liking Thicker than as well! Just wanted to hype you up! (And use an improper amount of !)
What I really enjoy about your writing is the wording and comparisons like, how the hell do you come up with such funny sentences?
"Lawyers mean two things. Pain and paper. That's the only way this can end now. Pain and fucking paper"
I genuinely love your sense of humor, especially in a setting that's dark as Thicker than first chapters. Tracy calling herself Tinkerbell and the king Peter Pan as she explains the Night court? Calling vampires the Neverland boys as they both never age? Beautiful!
Not to talk about Marcel, that man's cheekier than he let's on. Alas you lost the opportunity to make Dracula's reference while some vampires climb walls like spiders you could've said lizards.
Quick question as well; could Erin, the vampire ally from Blood Moon become a possible RO? It could be cool to have a fledgling RO amongst seasoned vampires. Like let's reform Blackwell domain togheter!
I can also already imagine Blood Moons werewolves reacting to poor MC introducing themselves as Blackwell.
Marco taking a baseball bat: "Where do you fucks spawn from? Directly from hell?"
Anyhow (i thought after my long ranting) to leave you a dark vampire reference?
Red embrace Hollywood (a visual novel) is a great example of a doomed MC newly turned vampire that has to play pawn of the vampires masquerade and of romances that don't have a truly happy ending.
Thanks for the message! I always get so happy when I see something this long in my inbox. I'm glad you liked the demo.
I actually thought of dropping a 'lizard fashion' reference when Marcel did his little wall walk. But, he doesn't actually lizard walk. He goes up on his feet only, like Inception, (he was trying to impress MC) so I kept the description simple.
I genuinely can't wait to write a scene with MC introducing themselves to the pack as Blackwell... I don't think it's going to go over very well.

Wonka (2023) Review
Tumblr media
Anyone doubting Chalamet's singing abilities need look no further than his Tiny Horse skit on SNL from 2 years ago. All I'll say is you're welcome!
Plot: With dreams of opening a shop in a city renowned for its chocolate, a young and poor Willy Wonka discovers that the industry is run by a cartel of greedy chocolatiers.
Everyone scratched their heads upon the announcement that young Hollywood heartthrob Timothee Chalament was cast as the famous Roald Dahl chocolatier. Then when the trailer was released it did not instill much confidence either. Something was jarring about witnessing the usually brooding and stoic Dune/Call Me by Your Name actor acting quirky and silly. Comparisons to Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp were of course inevitable as this is the third attempt at adapting Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory children's book, so would Chalamet simply be attempting to portray a cheap knock-off of his predecessors, and what if Timmy simply lacks the Whimsy to play the silly little guy?
Turns out we had nothing to worry about, especially as we seem to have all forgotten that Wonka's directed by Paul King. You know, the guy behind those sweet Paddington films. Those movies are simply the most delightful and innocently sweet little things, featuring universal themes of kindness and embracing new things, featuring genuine laughs, moments that could make you cry, and an overall homage to recent and classic films. Less one forgets that Paddington 2 also holds the endorsement of no other than Nicolas Cage within The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent which goes out of its way to name-drop Paddington 2 and turns it into a running gag that helps members of the cast bond. With Wonka Paul King's magic feels right at home, as he delivers a warm old-fashioned musical extravaganza, that has the innocence and silliness of the Paddington films, mixed with the darker undertones from the Roald Dahl's classic.
Speaking of the musical aspect, the songs in this film are actually really lovely. Naturally, you have the returning remixes of 'Oompa Loompa' and 'Pure Imagination', but the new tracks are truly delightful, with Timothee Chalamet's singing on point, and the melodies very old-school, basking in their simplicity yet accompanying the capriciousness of the movie perfectly. The production design is great, with lots of colours that pop that should provide enough visual candy for the kids going to the movies this holiday season. The costumes also stood out, and I loved how Wonka's suit was an amalgamation of Wilder's and Depp's outfits. What shocks me is that the costume designer here Limmy Hemming is the same one behind Nolan's The Dark Knight. Such different looks, but then again if you change Willy's jacket from red to purple there are similarities to the Joker outfit...
In regards to Chalamet's Wonka - he's solid. Would a different actor maybe have been a better choice? Probably, however, Timothee manages to deliver a high level of quirk through his enunciation and movements, with his Wonka innocent to a fault, and morally pure. The supporting cast is full of comedians who take turns stealing scenes. Hugh Grant's Oompa Loompa is an uncanny highlight that takes a while to appear and is absolutely worth the wait. Paterson Joseph excels at playing a full-on pantomime villain complimented by Matt Lucas and Matthew Baynton to make for a delightfully evil trio. An entertaining pairing of Olivia Colman and Tom Davis results for an awkward yet at times hilarious double-act, and amusing yet under-used turns from Keegan Michael-Key and Rowan Atkinson leave you wanting more.
Wonka is an easily digestible and polished family movie for the holiday season that is a rare example of a prequel that justifies its existence. I would say that the comedy doesn't always land and felt as if Paul King and the team were held a bit back with how absurd they were willing to go. I don't know, it feels like putting Mr. Bean and a runaway giraffe together in a church could have led to wilder results than what we are ultimately given. Maybe it's remembering Tim Burton's brand of humour that felt more satirical than this fairly tame Wonka. I'm aware many audiences have mixed opinions on the Tim Burton Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, however myself and my fiancee watched it a few months back and found it to be absolutely hilarious! Also, Christopher Lee as a despicable angry dentist who hates chocolate was just *chef's kiss*. As for Wonka? Well, everyone needs a little willy in their life... I'm of course talking about the movie and nothing else!
Overall score: 7/10

Day Three : A Memory
🦋 < APPROXIMATELY SIX YEARS AGO >
The air was fresh and crisp , a subtle breeze zipping past every now and again . It was a perfect day .
I and my best friend , My Darling , were walking away from the school . The school hours have passed and now it was time to head home . He didn’t want me walking home alone because some bullies of mine lurked every now and again when I headed home , so he joined me on a short walk . He needed to head home soon though , so he said he would walk me as far as he could .
The whole world seemed to be vibrant in color and light . The walk was full of bounce in our steps , laughter , and giggles lifted the air . West of the school was an open field with a small park to the south , and the grass was a bright neon green that shimmered with light dew on them . The mountains in the distance stood tall and protected the land , they too were as playful as our hearts , even if standing still .
We were both walking on the soft , wet grass , when he pulled me into an unexpected hug and dragged me down to the ground . We landed with a soft thump , my heart sang and echoed through my voice pipes , coming out as laughter . My Darling and I stared at the sky , still in a tight embrace , when he asked , “ What are we ? ”
“ Greedy humans . ” I responded , thinking that he was referring to society as a whole . But he had something different in mind. . .
“ No. . . Like , us . What are we ? ”
“ Oh. . . ” My cheeks flushed and my jaw tightened . I liked My Darling more than a friend , but I didn’t know if he felt the same way . I kept my mouth shut and said , “ Bestest friends , of course ! ”
He then sat up , pulling me up with him . His hands were big and soft , and feeling them , touching him , sent a shock of adrenaline and giddiness through my whole body . I wanted to hold on to him and never let go . He sheepishly smiled and said , “ Would you like to be boyfriend - girlfriend ? ”
My eyes widened , my heart started beating faster , and the rush pushed through my veins and I basically bounced up and down . “ Yes ! Of course , I would ! ”
His sky blue eyes illuminated the world around us , his smile grew , almost like there was love on the tips of his lips . He grabbed my hands , caressing them gently before putting them down on his knees as he laid his head against my heart , and listened to the pulse sing with uplifting melodious tunes .
I ran my hands through My Darling's golden hair , feeling his scalp as I lightly scratched and massaged it . There was no one in this world but him and me . Even though the sky was kindled with light and a few white fluffy clouds , I could see the moon and stars . Everything was twinkling and fulfilling .
This is the perfect day. . .
The perfect day to fall in love .
And this was my first time falling in love .
Day Four : Places I Want To Visit
🦋 China , Lake Powell ( Utah ) , and Las Vegas ( Nevada )
🦋 Truthfully , I don't want to visit many places .

Demi Moore
Demi Moore – the OG queen of owning your own skin. From her early days on screens, rocking that iconic pixie cut and ripped jeans in "Ghost," it was clear this woman wasn't afraid to be seen. But Demi took it way beyond just peek-a-boo shoulders. Remember that legendary "Vanity Fair" pregnancy shoot? Bare and beautiful with a basketball-sized baby bump – she redefined maternity vibes and shut down anyone who thought pregnancy wasn't sexy AF. ✨
Throughout her career, Demi kept pushing boundaries. Whether it was rocking a totally sheer dress on the red carpet (leaving little to the imagination ) or starring in films like "Striptease" where sensuality was front and center, she showed us that owning your body, whatever it looks like, is the ultimate power move.
But Demi's exploration of her body wasn't just about outward appearances. She's been open about her experiences, from body image struggles to sex positivity. She's talked about the pressure in Hollywood to conform to unrealistic beauty standards, but also how she's learned to appreciate her own unique form. Big respect for that self-love journey, Demi!
And let's not forget the age factor! Here's a woman who keeps defying expectations and rocking a bikini well into her 50s and beyond. She's a constant reminder that sensuality and confidence have no expiration date. Age ain't nothin' but a number, people!
Now, let's talk about those curves! Demi's always embraced her breasts, whether showcasing their natural fullness in daring outfits or rocking a fitted dress that accentuates their perfect shape. They've never been hidden away – they're part of her story, and she owns it. It's a powerful message for anyone who's ever felt insecure about their chest.
And let's not forget that killer butt! From those iconic "Ghost" pottery scene leggings to her form-fitting red carpet gowns, Demi's always known how to work her backside. It's toned, it's strong, and it deserves all the praise emojis it gets!
Of course, Demi's openness with her body has sparked conversation (and sometimes controversy), especially when it comes to showing some skin around her crotch. Whether it's a daring high-slit dress or a bikini that leaves little to the imagination, she's never shied away from celebrating her entire form. It's a reminder that sexuality is a spectrum, and every part of our bodies deserves to be seen and appreciated on our own terms.
But that's exactly the point. She's made us think critically about societal beauty standards and challenged the idea that a woman's worth is tied to how much skin she shows. ️
Whether you're a longtime fan or just discovering her badassery, there's no denying Demi Moore's impact. She's a total boss babe who's redefined what it means to be sexy, confident, and comfortable in your own skin. So next time you're feeling insecure, channel your inner Demi, strut your stuff, and remember – you are a total snack! ✨

This is a labor of love. At almost 6000 words the next chapter is finally here!
MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT: CHAPTER FOUR
It’s all or Nothing.
This week, on Married at First Sight, our couples start getting ready to meet at the altar. They will share gifts with each other and get to see what sort of person they will be marrying. Will the gift be a treasured thing that makes emotions start to fly or will our couples learn just how much of a stranger they are marrying? Find out today on Married at first Sight.
Mathilde was sitting in the hotel room, a few of her friends all in their matching red robes, black script on the back loopy and pretty with their names. She had tried to make sure that even with the short time frame she still wanted to make her friends know she appreciated them being here and supporting her on this journey.
It all seemed surreal as she sat in front of the desk, a makeup artist working deftly with brushes, and making conversation with everyone.  Mathilde lifted the champagne flute to her lips, sipping the bubbles heavily as she tried to remember why she had signed up for this experiment, the nerves and reality of it all sinking in and suddenly making her worried about how big of a leap this was.
Mathilde liked to look at the positives in life, experience it fully at all times but she was worried that the way she embraced life was maybe with arms too open. She was always open  to experiences but what if this one hurt?
“Maybe slow down so you don’t puke on  your groom.” her friend teased, making the blonde bride look down at the empty champagne glass she was holding. Red lipstick print there and no bubbly liquid there for her.
She set the glass down, looking up at the makeup artist with an apologetic smile. Closing her lips Mathilde let her touch up the red lipstick that she had smudged from drinking. The makeup artist stepped back after finishing, looking gleefully at her finished work.
Mathilde was beautiful on a bad day but on her wedding day, she looked like a Hollywood starlet. Even more so when she stepped into the ivory, off the shoulder gown, an a-line cut and high leg slit accented her body and made the bride look even more gorgeous than usual. Her blonde locks had been put n a low bun, a few curls in the front hanging down and pinned with pearl pins that also held in the gauzy long veil she’d remove after the ceremony.
As she stood in front of the mirror she smirked, looking at her reflection and suddenly feeling it all set in. She was going to get married today.
“Mathilde, we have a present from your groom.” she turned away from her reflection, looking at the producer carrying in a champagne colored box with a glittery gauzy bow. It was beautiful, a small card tucked into the side with the sloppy handwriting saying ‘My Bride’ on the front.
‘My Bride,
I guess you’re as crazy as me. Jumping into this with both feet and really trying to experience life to the fullest. I don’t know you YET but I can’t wait to make everyday in life a party. I’ll see you at the altar and we can take the first steps on this adventure together
Your…
Soon to be husband’
Mathilde smirked at the slanted messy writing. She could tell it wasn’t rushed and he had tried to be neat and yet he had the handwriting that was scribbled and frantic. She closed her eyes, trying to imagine the man that she would be taking the next step with, smiling as she felt better about this big leap. Unwrapping the box she smiled wider, showing her friends as she saw a blank book with black writing saying ‘Our Adventures’ embossed on the front. The perfect gift for a story that was going to be written.
Vialou was seated in the bathtub, her sisters pouring more oils in as scents of jasmine and lilac wafted through the air on tendrils of steam. In the water she was submerged, eyes closed as she laid there, thinking about how in only a few hours she would be taking the next step in her life, to be a wife.
She gasped softly as she broke the service, standing in the water, dripping as she reached for the gauzy robe. One of her sisters clicked their tongue as the youngest stepped carelessly out of the bath, wrapping herself up in the robe as her long wet hair dripped down her back.
“You’re going to be late.” she was told as she sank down on the bed. Before she could lay down her sister was grabbing her hair, wrapping it in a towel as she dried it.
Vialou didn’t seem to care about time. She did care about finishing the cup of coffee her mother took away from her before her bath. Frowning as she realized it had gone cold. But she was trapped between two older sisters who were trying to tame her hair with their familiar touch.
“You do understand this is a big deal, don’t you?” her mother was walking toward her, taking her youngest hands in hers, stroking them as she stared into her daughter's eyes so that she could try to get a sense of what she was feeling.
Each of her children were an element: her first born daughter was the ocean open and calm some days, other days stormy and wild with layers of secrets. Her only son was fire, fierce and full of passion for all things until it burned up or took another, her third child was Earth, born with a mothers soul and full of gold, and then there was Vialou, air. The one who blew this way and that but gave everyone breath. Her youngest girl was special but restless in life.
“I am going to be an excellent wife. I did a reading, I know this is right.`` She trusted the guidance of those before her, spirits and tokens she had learned from her family. Vialou consulted these things in all her decisions, believed in them and knew the power that was in them.
“We are always here for you Lou.” her middle sister said, the words that calmed her and made her reach for her sister's hands. All of them were wrapped up in each other, knowing that their bond was strong and could carry their sister through the good times and bad of her marriage.
Forty minutes later Vialou was dressed in the deep v-neck dress, the skirts flowy and long, her shoulders bare but then sleeves belled out hiding her hands if she kept them down at her side. Vialou was barefoot, her hair in a ponytail with a few pieces she had already pulled out. Her fingernails were a deep burgundy that matched the bouquet she held of purple flowers.
Vialou was calm, ready when there was a knock on the door. Her eyes lifted, as a producer walked in holding a silver bag with black tissue paper coming from it. It matched too well and she wanted to make fun of it but she was too curious. Setting down her bouquet away from everyone she reached for the bag.
“The card-” her sister's voice was drowned out in the sound of tissue paper ripping. Vialou opened the box inside, eyes widening as she pulled out a velvet ribbon where there was a  moon shape hanging down and from the tip of the crescent moon was a teardrop of a moonstone.
She turned, trying to tie it around her neck but her sister was reaching out to help her, securing the ribbon as Vialou absentmindedly touched it, trying not to outwardly show how much it meant to her.
The card was given and Vialou knew they wanted to have her read it out loud, part of her craved the first note to be private but she was on a show and knew the cameras wanted to see everything.
‘Stranger,
The ebb and flow of life has made it so that we will meet for the first time at the altar but know this, I know you from my dreams.
XX’
The words hung in the air before her oldest sister let out a snort, the romantic moment suddenly gone as she realized that she was being filmed and everyone could clearly read the openness of her face.
“Well, good for you Lou-Lou. You found someone as wild as you are.” Vialou smirked at that, turning back to pick up her bouquet, tucking the letter into her dress so she could have the words close to her skin.
“I don’t want to be late, let's go.” Her family all exchanged a look at her sudden commitment to time but followed her dutifully as she stepped out of the hotel room, headed to get married.
Nikki was pacing around the room, his palms sweaty as he constantly seemed to wipe them on his trousers. He was worried about this whole process suddenly, worried that he would be paired with someone who wasn’t his soulmate. Nikki wanted his forever with someone who made his heart thump and the idea of being with someone who didn’t meet that definition made him worried.
“Nikki, this is a gift from the bride.” He looked at the producer as he was handed a package that felt pretty big compared to the small silver bag he had sent. He opened the card smiling at the loopy writing that seemed to have taken forever to do.
He could imagine his bride sitting there with her pen, each letter carefully shaped as she wrote him the first note of their relationship. It felt like a big deal as he traced the letters one by one.
‘To My Husband,
One thing you should know about me is I love a good meal. I can’t wait to see what we cook up together. Though you don’t know me, we will soon be husband and wife. How strange and fantastic that is! I can’t wait to learn all your favorite things and try all the exciting things life has in store for us as Mr. and Mrs…. whatever your name is. I can’t wait to be your bride.
You soon to be wife’
Wife. One word had Nikki rattled, smirking as he looked at his friends who could see just how excited the man was over one word. He was tearing into the gift, smiling when he saw a cutting board and knife set, a practical gift that he could use in the home he would have with his soon to be wife.
He was also relieved it wasn’t a bottle of booze, like the one Vince had gotten. Him and Tommy were currently sharing the bottle in the fancy glasses. Nikki was thankful she hadn't sent him alcohol, that would have been an awkward situation.
“A knife set? Is she going to kill you with that?” Vince teased, he said it good natured trying to get Nikki to loosen up.
Vince was in his white tuxedo, a pink rose  pinned to his jacket as he stood next to Nikki who was in an all black suit, except for the deep red velvet blazer he was wearing. Tommy had opted for an all black suit, no tie or anything and his shirt unbuttoned the first few buttons. He was wearing the ‘Don’t Get cold feet’ socks his bride had sent over and had the folded up crane she had given him in his pocket.
All three men were feeling different about marriage and yet they were all in the room together trying to provide each other some support. But the other two knew how serious Nikki was taking this and how he was worried about how the wedding would go and how the bride would react when she couldn’t have a champagne toast at her own wedding. It was layers or worry.
“Are you going to consummate your marriage?” Vince asked, wagging his eyebrows at the bassist. “I am a gentleman and going to wait until the honeymoon but-”
“Like hell you’ll wait.” Tommy interjected, “If you have the chance you’ll be all in. All of us will.” Tommy looked at Nikki for backup on the topic but Nikki shook his head, rubbing his chin as he turned away.
He was still stressed out about the wedding, he couldn’t even begin to think about what would happen after the wedding.
Carrie smoother the front of her dress, looking in the mirror as she looked at the chiffon one sleeve gown. Her dress was one long sleeve of lace with dusty rose colored lace flowers that bloomed down the sleeve and lace bodie until the thick layers of chiffon skirt that lifted when she spun. Her brown hair was pulled back in a french twist and she found herself staring as her best friend came behind her, pinning the veil into her hair.
“Do you feel like a bride now?” the girl asked her softy. Carrie tried to smile but it was only her friend who was in the bridal suite with her.
Her family had all decided not to come and though her friends had agreed to come and see her get married they were judgemental about everything. The picked on Carrie, asking her if she was ready to get married asking her what she could really bring to the table in a marriage, making her doubt her self worth.
But Carrie was forging ahead, ready emotionally to be a good partner to her soon to be spouse. She knew her menial job couldn’t financially provide them with a future but she wanted to be a team, pick up slack in other areas to be a well rounded couple. Her life was boring, living the same day after day but now she was ready to have a true experience.
“Carrie?” her eyes lifted to the producer, who offered her a kind smile as she came into the room holding a small gift bag. “I’m just here to drop off your gift.” Carrie thanked her, taking the gift and moving towards the bed. As she sat down she saw in chicken scratch on the front of the card ‘open gift first’.
She pulled open the bag and saw four things: one was a piece of cloth, the date embroidered in a deep midnight blue thread, the next was a pearl hair clip, there was a pick for a guitar that was dipped in gold and added to a bracelet like a charm, and there was a small box with a gold clip that was in the shape of a heart with a ruby to in it.
‘Hey fiance,
I’m sorry that we didn’t meet in a conventional way but I still wanted you to have the wedding experience of your dreams. If this isn’t it I promise for our one year anniversary we can have a big do over with all our friends and family cheering for us again.
There are four things for your gift to follow the traditional something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. My mother helped me with this and embroidered our wedding date, you can wrap it around your flowers or pin it to the hem of your dress. The pearl clip was worn by my mother and my grandmother on their wedding day. I thought it would be a nice something borrowed so you can see you’re already welcome to my family and they are yours as well as mine. The bracelet is your something old and something new. The pick is a hint at my passion, it’s a pick that I’ve kept from my first concert in my band. I thought you could have it for something old. The ruby heart is just something pretty for your something new. I read in a magazine that it’s supposed to inspire emotion.
I’ll be waiting for you at the end of the aisle. I already know you’re going to be the most beautiful bride.
Your patiently waiting groom’
Carrie was in awe, her eyes watering with tears as she touched all the thoughtful pieces that he had picked for her. The way that he was including her in his family and going out of his way to make this non traditional wedding as traditional as possible. Her heart felt like it was going to burst.
Her friend was heading over, shielding her from the cameras for a second as she picked up the pearl hair piece, sliding it in place as Carrie realized it was time to pull herself together. She felt calmer now knowing that she may not have the support she had wanted going into this but she had the support of a whole new group of people she was thrilled to meet.
Melody dry heaved over the toilet, having drank a bit too much last night and now faced with the impossible task of getting married to a stranger she was feeling the pre wedding jitters hard. She wiped at her mouth with a towel, thankful she hadn't applied her lipstick yet.
She stood up, smoothing out the form fitting silk dress, making sure the pleats and draping looked okay as she saw her appearance in the bathroom mirror. Quickly she pinched her cheeks, trying to bring life back into her face.
The whole wedding planning had been stressful for Melody. She had felt nagged from her friends and family, everyone asking questions she didn’t have answers to. The only thing that made it any better was that she was able to make her own wedding  cake. It was something she had always dreamt of doing and making her dream a reality was outstanding.
“Mel?” her Aunt’s  voice was gentle as she knocked, “The groom brought you a gift.” she had to pull herself together.
Stepping out she smiled softly at her friends and family who all were gathered around. She had a glass of champagne pressed into her hand, the hope that some liquid courage was going to make her feel better. She saw a large bouquet of white lilies and  pink roses, some hydrangages and baby breath mixed in to make the larger than life flower display even more breathtaking.
Despite having been in a few committed relationships in her life no man had ever bought flowers for her before. The display was gorgeous and she could feel her manicure biting into her palms as she tried not to cry.
“They’re gorgeous.” her mother offered the compliment, taking her daughter's hand as she nodded, touching a blooming petal.
It was soft under her finger and she smirked, heart thundering as she found an envelope tucked into the bouquet. Wrapping her fingers around it she pulled it from the blooms. Her mother guided her to sit down as she opened the small card
‘Hey honey,
I hope honey isn’t too vague of a nickname but I swear when I see you I’ll know if it works or if I can call you something else. I also know flowers must seem like a lame gift but I thought jewelry is so personal. I want to know all about you before buying you something because jewelry should be worn often and I want you to only wear what you’re happy in. And I want to make you happy.
Can’t wait to meet you, honey!
Your busy bee soon to be hubby’
Melody laughed out loud at the cheesy nicknames but she also liked how he was so confident in coming up with a name for her. She liked that he seemed to know himself and was confident. It was exactly the type of person that she had asked for.
“I like how he writes. It makes me feel excited and like the experts gave me exactly what I wanted.” she said to her family, watching them all seem to collectively breathe a sigh of relief. They knew her too well, knew how she could get lost in her head sometimes and over analyze a situation. They were thankful that even though it was out of character she was jumping into this marriage and trying to experience her life.
Melody picked one of the lilies out of the vase, tucking it among the blossoms of her own bouquet as she inhaled the deep scent, smiling.
“I’m ready to head down now.”
“No way am I sleeping with her tonight. That would be way too pushy and make her uncomfortable. I won’t even sleep in the same bed if she doesn’t want to.” Duff was fighting with Slash about the wedding night as the three boys from GNR got ready to walk down the aisle to their new life.
“She’s your wife.” Izzy spoke up, pulling off the tie he had been perfecting the knot in and undoing the top button of his jacket as he rolled his shoulders feeling much more comfortable now, “What are you going to do when they say you can kiss your bride? Give her a high five?” Slash laughed at this, amused that after being silent most of the morning that Izzy had stepped up to pick on Duff.
Duff however was now very concerned about if he was supposed to kiss his stranger bride or not and trying to not panic as he over thought the whole situation. But as he panicked there was a knock on the door and a producer came in holding three gifts in their hand.
Izzy was handed a small box wrapped in navy blue paper with a thin gold bow tied around it, there was no card with the gift and he was thankful for the small miracle that he wouldn’t have to read intimate words aloud. But he was momentarily terrified as he thought about the girl he was going to marry, having to read the words he had written for her out loud.
It was all a bit much for him. He was still struggling with being filmed, shutting down and being quiet for longer durations of time than even he normally did.  His privacy was something that he cherished, so going in front of cameras and baring so much of himself made him uneasy, unsure if he was doing the right thing.
But Izzy believed in soulmates and he believed in soulmate timing, where two people were brought together at the exact moment the universe wished. He thought this could be the moment where the stars aligned and he was given the love of his life by some force out there. But there was absolutely no way in hell he was going to verbalize this to a camera.
He pulled the ribbon, opening the box and saw a raw cut kunzite stone, on the end of a long silver chain. His heart thundered, this insight into the person he was going to be with, giving him such a-
“Why do you have that pink stone? Did she return your gift?” Slash was laughing as Izzy turned, glaring as he shoved the gift in his pocket, annoyed by the man's words about something so precious.
But he knew he needed to take the attention off himself because the way Duff was looking at him made it clear he was wearing his feelings on his face. Izzy was quick to shove on his sunglasses, lighting up a cigarette and shoving his hand in his pocket to touch the precious stone he had been gifted.
“What did you get?” Slash turned to the package, a brown wooden box, which he opened to find a bottle of whiskey, and custom cut crystal glasses. A note was on top of the bottle, which he quickly picked up to read.
‘To my stranger,
I guess you’re as crazy as me. I figured you’d need a drink to help calm some of your nerves before meeting me at the end of the aisle. Thanks for doing this process. I can’t wait to meet you and get to know you.
Yours,
_ _ _ _ _ _’
He smirked at the slashes, the hint of her name that wasn’t the full thing still made his stomach tighten in excitement. He was trying to play it cool but it was hard to do when he was growing excited about everything.
“Pop the bottle, pour us all a glass.” Izzy said, turning from Slash to Duff who was fingering the white wrapping paper. “Are you getting second thoughts, Duff?” the blonde shook his head, smirking in a way that he did when he was anxious. He was  trying not to have a panic attack on camera and could use the drink Slash was offering him.
As he sipped heavily he pulled out the card, smiling as he saw a smiley face in red ink drawn inside a heart on the front. It was simple, silly and he appreciated the childish drawing from his soon to be bride.
‘Hey you,
I wanted to give you something to capture this experience through your own eyes, to be able to tell your own story, and to selfishly let me see how you view the word. I can’t wait to meet you and get to start the walk of life as your wife. I’m hoping we become fast friends and eventually find love in that.
See you soon!’
Duff liked that she wasn’t rushing things. He liked how she wanted to be his friend first and wasn’t talking about how they were going to have to hit a million milestones as husband and wife. They were going to start as friends and he loved that.
Ripping the corner of the package open he smirked as he saw that inside of it was a polaroid camera. Something simple but would be a great tool to make memories with his soon to be bride. He liked the thoughtfulness of the idea, how she was giving him another outlet to show his experience. It wasn’t the usual gift and he found himself attracted to that.
“Do you think she’ll let you take pictures of her tonight?” Slash ribbed, making Duff roll his eyes as he loaded the camera, standing in front of the hotel mirror, he took his first picture.
Maria was shining like the diamond that she absolutely knew that she was. Her dress was form fitting, corset bodice draped in sheer beaded fabric. It hugged her body and had a layer coimh down to give her an elegant train. It looked like she had stepped out of a bridal magazine. Her best friends were all around her, wrapped in their silky black bridesmaid gowns and holding red rose bouquets.
She wanted her wedding to be elegant and romantic, nothing overtly fancy other than herself of course. She wanted everything to be a simple background and herself and her husband to be, whoever he was to be the shining star of the night.
As she slid on her shoes, ready to head down to where she would walk down the aisle, she was thinking about her family. They had been skeptical about this and said they didn't want to be filmed or anything until they met this person and had some knowledge of who their daughter was marrying. Though it still hurt that she was going to have to walk herself down the aisle.
“Delivery.” she looked up as a producer walked in with several packages. “Seems your groom wants you to know how spoiled you’re going to be.” Maria blinked, as everything was set down, her cheeks warming as she watched all the things sit there in their ivory wrapping paper with gold bows all carefully done.
She saw a bottle of champagne and instantly her friends took it from her, topping off everyones glass as she moved to read the card that came with the packages.
‘My stranger,
I don’t know about what life was like before for you but now you’re going to be my world and I promise you that everyday you;ll feel cherished and special because of it. Here are just a few small things for you today as you get to be a bride for the first time.
Your stranger’
Maria was excited, handing the note over as her curious friends over analyzed everything from the way he wrote to the expensive stationary he had jotted his note down on. She moved towards the gifts lifting the biggest one first and untying the bow. She smirked, inside was a pair of white pajams, silky with feathers on the cuffs and hems, in a pink swirly script ‘Mrs.’ was done. Inside the next box was a few face masks, skincare items and things for her to unwind with tonight. The last and smallest box made her gasp so loud her friends stumbled out of bed to see what she was looking at. A tennis bracelet laid with diamonds shimmered in the hotel lights.
“Holy-”
“He has to be rich!.”
“Are you kidding me?”
Her friends all were talking over themselves as Maria slid the bracelet on her left hand, the same hand her husband would be putting a ring on within the hour. She was overwhelmed with the gifts he had given her, the way he had made it known he was going to treat her well.
She couldn’t wait to be his wife.
Nora was chain smoking on the balcony, not yet in her dress but in full glam with her makeup and hair done. She was more nervous than she wanted to admit and was worried about her future. The cameras were getting ready in the hall to film so as she sat alone in her room, all her friends already downstairs and no family there to support her she was supposed to get on her dress herself.
Her whole life had been by herself so she was now afraid of what it would be like to share that with someone. She wanted to get married but she was wondering now if marrying a stranger was the best way to get her happily ever after.
“Nora, do you need help?” the producer knocked on the door as she stepped out of the room, saying she could use help getting in the dress.
When the producer walked in she was holding a small silver bag that she left on the table, a card with ‘Mrs. XXX’ was written on the outside and she knew this must be a gift from her groom. She was curious but knew she would have to be filmed opening it so she complied in getting her gown on. It was a sheer bodice dress, a few crystals and lace covered her breasts but didn’t leave much to the imagination before cut tulle gave way to a long slit that showed off most of her leg. Nora wore high heels that made her usual short frame grow and no veil.
“You look gorgeous, Nora.” the producer said, feeling sorry for the girl who was alone. But Nora didn’t care. She was slipping into the bathroom, brushing her teeth. She nearly jumped as she came back out and saw the camera crews all set up.
The producer told her to open the gift now and Nora grabbed it, opening the card as she smiled down at the letter written in thick black ink. She was a sucker for a good pen.
‘Hello soon to be Mrs. XXX,
I wanted to give you something personal and unique. A gift that I can give you on all our anniversaries for the next fifty sixty, seventy years. I made this last week, envisioning my bride and I already know you’re going to be better than any dreams or images I’ve imagined. I had gotten you other gifts but apparently we can’t know each other's names and personalized gifts with our last name will have to wait until tomorrow or tonight, if we’re not too tired. But I’m looking forward to giving you something to look forward to everyday.
Mr.XXX’
Nora had chills running down her spine and was thinking over and over about the sentence ‘tonight, if we’re not too tired’. Was her husband already flirting with her or was he just saying their wedding day was going to take a lot out of them?
She moved to open her gift, a bottle of perfume that was called ‘Love Story’. It was a cliche name and she wanted to roll her eyes but she was too busy spraying it on her wrists, inhaling the scent of clementine oranges, vanilla, and daisies. It was beautiful and perfect, like the smell of her daydreams. This was going to be what she looked forward to for years to come. A gift that would always remind them of their wedding day.
And he had made this for her.
Nora didn’t know who her husband was going to be but at the gift he gave her, she was already starting to fall for him.

Modern Femininity Research
Modern Femininity research:
https://www.matchesfashion.com/womens/the-style-report/2018/03/the-new-accessories-issue/talking-point-what-is-modern-femininity-ss18
The moments in our lives that have rendered us most vulnerable have the ability to transform us the most. As our wardrobe often mirrors our internal mood, it has been interesting to note how the very essence of vulnerability has been echoed culturally through fashion, art, politics and social change over the last 18 months. As women are empowered, so, too, is a word that has traditionally signified a deficiency of authority.
In mid-2017 my own vulnerability was laid bare as I healed from a bad accident in which my right leg was broken in three places and a metal rod inserted. I slowed down, meditated more, took time to reflect. The quiet space allowed me to embrace my softness, expressing my innermost dreams, desires and hurts both personally and professionally. I wore lingerie as daywear, partial to the caress of silks against my body. I spent months barefoot, unable to squeeze my swollen ankle into any sort of closed shoe. Even imagining wearing a high heel made me shudder.
I envisioned Frida Kahlo in her hospital bed, recovering from spinal fusion surgery, wearing a hand-painted, corset-like cast around her torso, turning her suffering into a work of art – pain and anguish rendered in beautiful colours. Her handicap had become her armour. I had to make do with a thigh-high compression sock and eventually, red patent-leather Birkenstocks, which turned out to strike something of a fetishistic chord with others.
October and November 2017 brought new emphasis to defenceless women in the clutches of influential men, as Hollywood (my own community) started to topple in the wake of sexual assault and harassment allegations. What had been whispered about among women for decades came to light. The dominoes continued to fall across industries and across countries, as droves of people voiced their own experiences in media, politics, the art world, food and fashion.
Desirability, for film actresses, traditionally meant second-skin gowns, ample cleavage and borrowed jewels. Now red-carpet attire has become a political declaration – whether a sea of black dresses or white roses as accessories – by the #TimesUp and #MeToo movement.
The rise of the divine feminine is upon us. Centuries of women violated in their powerlessness are erupting as Mother Earth does. Slowly, the fear of losing our jobs, friends or reputation doesn’t hold us back from speaking our truths. Nor does it preclude us from using our wardrobe to express the multitude of complicated emotions residing within. In 2018 and beyond, I embrace vulnerability as my most valued accessory. And a pair of flats – however impractical – should the need to flee suddenly arise.
https://prezi.com/ljsrymsntlag/the-representation-of-women-in-contemporary-and-modern-art/ Women have been idealized in every form of art, some of the most obvious examples would be that of classical Grecian style sculpture. Although the change from idealizing women to representing them in a more natural way started back with realism and naturalism, modern and contemporary art continued with this trend in their own way. When the modern and contemporary styles began, women became more confident in themselves and in their art work. Women were interested in expressing themselves and showing their femininity, or their masculinity, if that suited them. The feminist movement became a catalyst for this change in artwork. There were male artists that also took a stand and broke free of the typical idealized female nude. This time period became a very big turning point for women, as artists and as subjects.
The works included here are all pieces that represent women. There are male and female artists included. Their work shows the shift from idealizing women and representing them in sexist or misogynistic ways, to opening up people’s eyes to the idea that women are more than house wives, they are more than sexual beings strictly for pleasure, and they are creative and talented artists that deserve recognition for their skills.
Cindy Sherman is included in this not only because she addressed the roles of, and injustices against, women, but also because she is a successful and ambitious artist that broke rules and boundaries. For one exhibition she created very large images, taking up large portions of the wall, simply because pretentious male artists did it and she hadn’t seen any female artists do it. She is a risk taker and a talented artist. Not only did Cindy Sherman address some very interesting and thought-provoking ideas, but she also shows us what a devoted and creative female artist can do. Her ambition and talent got her to a place where she is respected among a male dominated world. If more female artists were risk takers as Sherman is, women’s work would occupy larger spaces in museums and would have a bigger impact in the art world.
https://www.thesublimewoman.com/recalling-femininity-means-modern-woman/ Femininity is our true nature. It is something we are born with. This is why femininity cannot be bought or sold, as it is not a product. It can only be recalled: developed, sensed, rediscovered. This is a gift we have from Nature given to us as way to create on this planet. This is something we can genuinely and generously offer, if only we know and remember how.
What exactly is the difference between boys and girls and their way of learning? To put it simply, boys represent Yang energy – energy of masculine, active, bright, strong. They represent persistence and competition. For this reason to be able to learn better, they need to compete all the time. This is when they can really learn something and grow. While girls’ way of learning is completely differently, with their Yan energy, feminine, passive, dark and soft – they simply look and copy.
However, feminine way is a mystery for modern women. No one taught them that, not parents nor teachers. So they forgot. This is when our instinctual memory comes in handy. If we look at our two main objects that hang out around the Earth, Moon and Sun, we can understand better how to be. Sun is a big bright Yang star that constantly shares light and warmth, and works outside of itself. Moon, being a very Yin planet, constantly takes it on itself from the outside to the inside, and thus, creates a reflection of the light.
As a result, we now know that Sun is a masculine Yang principle that directs to the outside, and Moon is a feminine Yin principle that directs to the inside. Since femininity cannot be taught, but can only be remembered, there are several ways every woman can do daily to bring back their genuine, simple and magical nature of femininity, Moon nature, nature of deep and ancient essence.
Sexuality is essentially a way of expressing our energy through this gender, since this is what we all do every moment of our life. It is how we manifest ourselves by being whether a man or woman. So basically, sexuality is our life.  since sexuality is a way of one or another gender to express oneself. This is exactly how we can use our sexuality to remember our feminine nature. We need to recall who we really are – women. Once we start doing it, we start to understand how to live and self-express in our own unique feminine Yin way, our own gender way.
Our body is a miraculous tool that remembers everything and stores every memory in tissues that we did not express outside. Every emotion, every stress, every fear. Great way to attain bodily connection again is to closely listen what does your body want and how. Every time you perform something using your body, pay close attention to what it does and how it wants to do it – let it do it.
The ability to create anything, literally anything, is one of the ultimate feminine qualities. Female principle of living is living creatively. This is not necessarily about creating a piece of art. It can be in absolutely about everything in every moment – from making tea or dinner, to brushing your hair and taking shower, making your bed, walking, working or taking care of someone.
However, it is not true because we are all very different and every single one of us have our way of expressing our femininity or sexuality or value. True sexuality or femininity is something that is expressed uniquely and genuinely by you and from you, not something that was copied from the magazine or a movie.
Let us remember that femininity is not only about heels and lipsticks, as important as they are. It is also about the ability to feel, to sense, to intuit, to act from our deep feminine self, the ability to live consciously and do everything consciously. From eating to sleeping to breathing. That is what the forgotten femininity is. Every single thing that women do now can be done in a feminine way. We simply need to recall it.
http://www.artnet.com/artists/cindy-sherman/ Cindy Sherman is an American photographer and filmmaker whose self-portraits offer critiques of gender and identity. What made Sherman famous is the use of her own body in roles or personas in her work, with her seminal series Untitled Film Stills (1977–1980) being particularly important.
Sherman examines and distorts femininity as a social construct.“I like making images that from a distance seem kind of seductive, colorful, luscious and engaging, and then you realize what you're looking at is something totally opposite,” she reflected. “It seems boring to me to pursue the typical idea of beauty, because that is the easiest and the most obvious way to see the world. It's more challenging to look at the other side.” she has continued to explore women as subject matter, often donning elaborate disguises in large-scale color photographs, throughout her career. While her practice has grouped her with the Pictures Generation, along with artists such as Sherrie Levine and Robert Longo, her distinctive blend of performance and photography stands alone.
https://publicdelivery.org/cindy-sherman-untitled-film-stills/ Untitled Film Stills Untitled Film Stills is a series comprising of 69 black and white photographs by Cindy Sherman, which she created between 1977 and 1980. The series’ images are sketchily developed and a moderate 8.5 x 11 inches in size, with no explicit citations or titles.
Her poses in different stereotypical female roles were influenced by the 1950s and 1960s Hollywood B Movies, Film noir, and European art-house films. Untitled Film Stills depicts clichés or feminine types such as the office girl, girl on the run, bombshell, housewife, and many others that are deeply emended in the cultural imagination.
The stills show that you could be everyone while still being utterly no one. The implicit message of the portraits in the series is that representations of femininity are precisely that, little more than mere images. Femininity only needs a little maquillage, a perfect pout, and the right dress, as numerous drag queens have shown in years down the line. Quoting the famous words of feminist Simone de Beauvoir1, which states, One is not born a woman but becomes one.
Through the Untitled Film Stills, Sherman shows us precisely what – the different women a woman can become. The images in the series do not only represent the traditionally prescribed boundaries of feminine character, but they also portray images of possibility. After all, the artist herself becomes, though transiently, all these women.
The artist emphasized the role-play characteristic of both identity and femininity. And it is no incident that women often denote the process of getting ready as “putting on their face.” For many decades, lipstick and mascara have been women’s war paint. Putting on makeup is not meant just to define a woman but rather, to determine what kind of a woman she really is. Is she a glittery lip gloss type of girl, or a lipstick kind of girl? Is she the type of woman who wears too much makeup, or the type that favors a bare or natural face? Therefore, it is a misnomer to say that a woman wears makeup to look beautiful; instead, women wear makeup to tell the world who they are.
“I suppose unconsciously, or semiconsciously at bet, I was wrestling with some sort of turmoil of my own about understanding women. The characters weren’t dummies; they weren’t just airhead actresses. They were women struggling with something, but I didn’t know what. The clothes make them seem a certain way, but then, you look at their expression, however slight it may be, and wonder if maybe ‘they’ are not what the clothes are communicating. I wasn’t working with a raised ‘awareness’, but I definitely felt that the characters are questioning something – perhaps being forced into a certain role. At the same time, those roles are in film: the women aren’t being lifelike; they are acting. There are so many levels of artifice. I like that whole jumble of ambiguity.”
https://www.fridakahlo.org/  Mexican artist Frida Kahlo is remembered for her self-portraits, pain and passion, and bold, vibrant colors. She is celebrated in Mexico for her attention to Mexican and indigenous culture and by feminists for her depiction of the female experience and form.
Life experience is a common theme in Kahlo's approximately 200 paintings, sketches and drawings. Her physical and emotional pain are depicted starkly on canvases, as is her turbulent relationship with her husband, fellow artist Diego Rivera, who she married twice. Of her 143 paintings, 55 are self-portraits.
My painting carries with it the message of pain." - Frida Kahlo
https://www.heatherjames.com/art-detail/38838-frida-kahlo-plaster-corset/ It was Frida’s father, Guillermo who gave her his box of paints and brushes as she was recovering from the bus accident that had shattered her spine. The devastation she suffered is shown in excruciating detail in her 1944 painting, The Broken Column. Yet the first canvas she painted upon was the most convenient one — the plaster cast bodice encasing her body. As she related, she had dreamed of becoming a doctor, yet “to combat the boredom and pain (and) without giving it any particular thought, I started painting.” Later, her mother asked a carpenter to fashion an easel “if that’s what you can call the special apparatus which could be fixed to my bed because the plaster cast didn’t allow me to sit up.” (Andrea Kettenmann, Frida Kahol: 1907-1954: Pain and Passion, Taschen, 1999, pg. 18)
On this particular corset, Kahlo painted a blood-red Hammer and Sickle, the symbolic configuration representing proletarian solidarity — a union between the peasantry and working-class expressing her lifelong political sympathies and below, a developing fetus entering perhaps its third trimester, a reminder of the still deeper insult of the accident, the one that added a layer of suffering and regret to Frida’s personal tragedy — her inability to bear children. Frida’s corsets hardened around her resolve as much as her body, but they also speak of her almost unbearable longing. They are ruminations on the power of creativity to heal as well as demonstrations of Frida Kahlo’s unbounded capacity for confronting the very bodily enclosures that imprisoned her, transforming them, taking them over as much as she could, and turning them into something beautiful and expressive.
“They thought I was a Surrealist, but I wasn’t. I never painted dreams. I painted my own reality. – Frida Kahlo

Making Medicine
by many poets
A bee makes love to a flower.
There’s more dark matter
in the universe than light.
What may kill you may also cure you.
Look around—there’s medicine everywhere.
Change is the medicine of the stagnant
and what seems changeless.
Ask the questions:
If society cooperates, can we nurture the full
and healthy development of everyone?
If the world loses its soul,
shouldn’t we imagine another world
from the depths of all our souls?
Is there a truth that also stings?
The journey emerges from the folds of an ocean wave
lapping at the shores of the entangled blood.
It’s the music rejoicing release at the throat,
a moon-faced voice suggesting
the night’s winged descent toward a wound.
Truths that heal are expressed in poems
that breathe and hold
the air in the eye sockets
of a deadened smile;
truths with muddy roads, vacant stares,
and broken glass windows;
truths with a girl’s tinny laugh
in the embrace of her mother’s fears
in the sleep of her pregnant winters;
truth that is stubborn peace, hobbling wet along
a forest of bare and calamitous trees,
immersed in the salt of a thousand dry kisses.
Like how music squeezes out the lunacy
in our hearts, how the happiest moments
are usually the least complicated,
and how love is felt in the creases
of our fingers,
but no hand can carry.
So heal with these bullets
whose tunes twist a word, a phrase,
a syllable to poetic slaughter;
heal with a hunger that is also
the ceaseless chatter for what’s just.
We can’t swat away the madness in these words,
to sear black the books and dictionaries
of these sorrows and secrets;
we can’t harmonize with the scorned instruments
whose language falls into a mouth
bursting red with the melodies of dissent
like whispers in a bottle.
Roots and songs fall in the chasms
between the disconnections,
making medicine out of our disaffections
and alienations,
our pathologies and poverties.
History is a series of explosions;
in-between we dream.
The truth is—the medicine
is already inside us.
Meander then around the hollowed possessions,
through these featherless borders,
in a cauldron of holy oil and the devil’s piss,
and always,
always,
ask the questions.

Whether you're looking to make a bold statement or simply want to experiment with different hues, long colored wigs offer endless styling possibilities. In this blog, we’ll explore some popular looks you can recreate with long colored wigs, helping you stand out and express your unique style.
1. Mermaid Waves
Mermaid waves are a popular look that can be easily achieved with long colored wigs, especially in shades of teal, aqua, or pastel pink. To recreate this look, gently comb through the wig to define the waves and add a touch of shine spray for a glossy finish. The key is to let the waves cascade naturally, creating a whimsical and ethereal appearance.
2. Sleek and Straight
A sleek and straight style is perfect for showcasing vibrant colors like electric blue, fiery red, or neon green. Use a flat iron on a heat-resistant wig to achieve a smooth, polished look. Pair this style with bold makeup and accessories to create a striking and contemporary appearance that turns heads.
3. Boho Braids
Boho braids are ideal for long colored wigs in earthy tones like burgundy, auburn, or olive green. Create loose, messy braids or fishtail braids, allowing a few strands to frame your face for a relaxed, bohemian vibe. This look is perfect for festivals, outdoor events, or casual outings.
4. Half-Up Space Buns
For a playful and trendy style, try half-up space buns with a long colored wig in pastel hues like lavender, mint green, or baby blue. Divide the top section of the wig into two parts and twist each into a bun, securing them with hair ties or bobby pins. Leave the rest of the wig down to flow freely, combining a touch of whimsy with a chic edge.
5. Vintage Glam
Channel vintage glam with long colored wigs in classic shades like platinum blonde, jet black, or ruby red. Use large rollers or a curling iron to create voluminous curls reminiscent of Old Hollywood glamour. Finish with a side part and a touch of hairspray for a polished, retro look that's perfect for formal events or themed parties.
6. Rainbow Hair
For those who love to make a statement, rainbow hair is a must-try look. Choose a long wig in multiple vibrant shades, and style it in loose waves or curls to highlight the different colors. This bold and fun look is sure to make you the center of attention at any event.

Unique Themed Event Ideas
Embrace the Local Flavor:
Host a celebration that pays homage to the city or region you're in. This could involve highlighting local landmarks, incorporating regional cuisine, or featuring traditional music and dance performances.
Deconstruct a Classic:
Give a classic theme a modern twist. For example, a "Fairytale Gone Rogue" theme could feature a darker aesthetic and unexpected plot twists in games or activities.
Interactive Entertainment:
Incorporate interactive elements that tie into your theme. This could be a murder mystery dinner where guests participate, a themed trivia night, or a DIY craft station that aligns with the event. A themed escape room experience where guests work together to solve puzzles and "escape" within a time limit. A themed scavenger hunt that sends guests on a journey around the venue or even outdoors, searching for clues and completing challenges related to the event's theme.
Consider Your Audience:
When selecting a theme, consider your target audience. A "Glow-in-the-Dark Neon Party" might be ideal for a younger crowd, while a "Murder Mystery Dinner Party" would cater more to adults seeking an intellectual challenge.
Theming on a Budget:
Creating a themed event doesn't require breaking the bank. Focus on DIY décor elements, utilize free online resources for printable and theme inspiration, and explore creative ways to repurpose everyday items. Lighting can dramatically transform a space, so invest in colored bulbs or string lights to set the mood.
A Theme for Every Occasion:
Corporate Events:
Awards Night Gala: Celebrate achievements and company milestones with a glamorous awards ceremony, complete with red-carpet arrivals, themed cocktails, and inspiring speeches.
Company Olympics: Foster team spirit and friendly competition with a company Olympics event. Design games and activities that relate to your industry or company values, and award prizes to the winning teams.
Casino Night Fundraiser: Combine team building with fundraising by hosting a casino night for charity. Guests can mingle, play games, network with colleagues, and contribute to a worthy cause. Ensure compliance with all local gambling regulations.
Special Occasions:
Roaring 20s Gatsby Party: Step back in time to the opulent Jazz Age with a Gatsby-themed party. Encourage guests to don flapper dresses and dapper suits, serve champagne cocktails, and play live jazz music to create a sophisticated ambiance.
Neon Night Bachelorette Party: Celebrate the bride-to-be with a vibrant neon-themed party. Decorate with bright colors, glow sticks, and neon signs. Offer themed cocktails, hire a photo booth with fun props, and plan activities that reflect the bride's personality and interests.
Enchanted Garden Baby Shower: Create a whimsical atmosphere for the mommy-to-be with an enchanted garden theme. Decorate with flowers, greenery, and fairy lights. Serve delicate finger foods and themed desserts, and offer relaxing activities like flower crown workshops or hand massages.
