I've been having a Sonic hyperfixation recently, so of course I had to draw Poptropica characters in the Sonic universe

Not to be insane or anything....

But these two have my mind and I doubt they'll leave anytime soon.

Left to right is; Amelia and the Red Baroness. They are from an old flash game called Poptropica. (RIP)

They were first introduced as rivals in the old tutorial called Monkey Wrench Island.

They got more background as the game updated and the home page got more developed, so did their story. However due to financial struggles, the company had to shut down.

Neither of their stories were lost to time, just now much harder to find with a mix of wiki, videos, cool math games, and a little bit of flashpoint.

I'll go into an in-depth dive on these characters in separate posts because nostalgia and they're just so darn cool. But first, proper research!

So I came up with a beginning to fairytale island, I guess?

(tw stealing, possession)

It starts pretty much the same way the original island does, and everything seems fine after Rumple has been freed. But when the pop character tries to go home they find that Rumple stole their blimp. They chase after him, but eventually are defeated and end up lost in the forest. The poptropica character manages to get back to the castle (insert *trying to find my way through maze with no light* challenge here), and they ask Amelia-who, for some reason, is going into the forest-for help.

However, Amelia is rather reluctant to leave the Island, and only agrees to helping the poptropica character if they get her a wand from the sleeping beauty fairytale (*insert another sidequest because the sleeping beauty tale is also messed up because of Rumple*). Amelia then REALLY QUICKLY sends the pop character to home island, and leaves immediately.

The pop character then notices Rumple. They're angry at him, but Rumple only laughs. Then he offers a trade-they do rumple's sidequest, he gives the Blimp back. The pop character eventually accepts. Surprisingly, Rumple keeps his word.

Later, the Red Queen shows up. She says she's looking for Rumple, her daughter, and the person who freed Rumple. The pop character pretends they know nothing, but inside they're panicking (she's kinda scary tbh).

(cue grapple-pap quest)

Then it's revealed that Rumple possessed baron, and he tries to goad the Red Queen into a fight. The Red Queen defeats him within seconds. Then Amelia shows up and uses the want to get Rumple out from the Baron. The Red Queen starts speaking, but the Baron just runs straight towards the Poptropica character's blimp and steals it.

Then the Red Queen gets angry at the pop character + Amelia and says this is their fault. There probably is a boss battle after this.

I've seen a bunch of "putting Poptropica characters into _ universe" so I wanted to try my own hand at that!! Which means they're in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon now. yay!

started with my usual four (Amelia, Red Baroness, Rumpelstiltskin, and my OC Comical Catfish respectively), but let me know if you wanna see other characters in PMD!!

i also...really wanna ramble about what their roles would be sooo. there's that below the cut!

...OKAY RAMBLE TIME 😇

Starting with Amelia! She'd be a Diamond Rank Explorer, which is a EXTREMELY high rank to have. girl is built different and nothing can stop her. But even with Diamond Rank her main focus is...of course...to run a shop! Specifically for fellow Guild members in need of helpful dungeoning items. Honestly, not much would differ between her and her original counterpart.

The same kinda applies to the Baroness! They're an Outlaw and a troublesome one to catch. Likely having a big bounty that they'd hold with pride. But I've seen on the pop wiki that she's got a bit of robin hood inspiration in her?? So even as a thief she's one of the good one's. Especially compared to any other Outlaw out there.

Rumpelstiltskin. That ugly little fella (I say it with love), is an Outlaw too for SURE! Worser than the Baroness and a lot more of a trickster. Actually, he's pretty similar to Gengar from Rescue team (the first PMD game). WHICH...kind of makes me wanna think of him as a human turned pokemon? That's definitely too far. i can giggle at the similarities though 😊

And finally...my own character. CC my silly gal...she'd be a Slakoth. I just think that's funny. She'd also become the Guildmaster of an entire guild on a whim! Whoops! Becoming the leader of an entire organization with Multiple rescue/explorer teams was never in her plans. But now she's got the role and a bunch of new responsibilities! ..She'd take a lot of stress naps.
