image description: tags reading "# i mean anemia ie is still a big thing in menstruating people today #esp young people"
video thumbnail showing a man in a brown suit walking outside with the looney tunes logo in the top left corner and large text reading looney tunes on the right.
/end id
There was a TikTok post about an advertisement for “blood-making pills for weak women” someone found in a newspaper from the 1890s and everybody seemed to think it was just an example of the weird misogyny of the day and age but no. Anemia was a massive public health concern. It always has been through history but part of the reason we have this idea of old timey women thought history being physical weak, chronically cold and pale and fainting is because they often they were. Anemia was also a massive problem for men in that day but even now it disproportionally affects people who menstruate. So tonics full of stimulants and “healthful vitamins” were marketed at young women in pages upon pages of advertisements in every newspaper. People generally felt like shit all the time back then.

how am I meant to do everything. like every day I'm supposed to remember to eat three times and drink enough water and shower and get dressed and do a full day of work and take appropriate breaks and answer texts. all while keeping track of the dishes and the laundry and vacuuming and cleaning and doing hobbies and paying my rent and my bills on time and long term savings and buying groceries and restocking the toilet paper and taking out the trash and the recycling. and reading books and keeping up with the news and posting on social media and reaching out to old friends and doing my taxes and celebrating the small wins and being emotionally present and learning new things and remembering to have fun. do all of this & do not lie down in the fetal position for six hours staring at the wall thinking about how life is just a to do list I can't seem to make a dent in, or how once I finish one procrastinated task, three others pop up in its place

Pre-Milton Hurricane Post
I've been making hurricane prep so I figure I might as well make the obiligitory tumblr post.
"Are you evacuating?"
I'm in the center of the state, which is where we evacuate the coastal areas to. My home isn't likely to flood, though the roads around me might. The biggest dangers are flying debris or a tornado strike.
I'm going to lose power. That's not even a question at this point. And with the aftermath of Helene still underway, it may be days before everything is restored. So, I may be offline for a few days. Though if we keep cell service, I can do what we all do - use the car as a giant phone charger.
I raided my recycling bin and filled every usable bottle with drinking water. I have flashlights, batteries, and candles if needed. And enough cheese and bread to make sandwiches for a week if needed. Also chocolate chip cookies. They seemed very important when I was making my hurricane supply run.
I'll be filling the bathtub with water. That's a backup to flush the toilet with if needed. (Also where store any alligators that the wind flings at our doors.)
I've also downloaded some of my favorite comfort mystery shows to a couple of Kindles along with a ton of books. And I have enough yarn to keep knitting for, umm, a decade or so.
To everyone else in the path - Stay Safe!

A list of (realistic) things you can do to be more environmentally friendly
(from an earth-loving horticulture student.)
— COSMETICS
Use bar soap instead of soap bottles
Use old toothbrushes for cleaning surfaces
Try exploring and researching some homemade face/body/lip products
Use ice sleeves, sunglasses, and caps instead of sunscreen (Edit: I’ve seen people say that it is safer and even necessary to wear sunscreen at all times so try to use eco friendly sunscreen instead! In my country it’s pretty uncommon to wear sunscreen often as we usually wear ice sleeves which is why I did not know this oof)
Use coffee grinds or homemade tumeric masks instead of cosmetic products with exfoliator beads
Invest in a metal ear cleanser instead of cotton buds
Try placing more importance on skincare instead of contributing to exploitative beauty companies by buying makeup
Use cosmetic products that do not contain palm oil
— CLOTHING
Try as much as possible to rewear your outfits at least twice before washing them
Actually WEAR your clothes! I know some of y’all just wear them once for your Instagram post and let it rot in your closet forever. Stop doing that!
Thrift, stitch up holes in your clothes, and use second hand clothing instead of supporting fast fashion companies like SHEIN, H&M, Zara, etc.
Cut up your old clothing into yarn and do macramè with it
Cut patches of old clothing to turn into reusable cotton pads
Learn how to knit, crochet or stitch your clothes!
If you use tampons, try menstrual cups or discs instead. If you use pads, try reusable pads or period underwear. (Trust me, it works). Also, use reusable panty liners instead of disposable ones. They may seem expensive but you will end up saving a lot more in the long run
— GARDENING
Plant seeds/cuttings in your old bottles, jars, and containers
Propagate your plants and exchange cuttings with your friends instead of buying new plants
Make your own soil mixes instead of buying soil mixes
Better yet, don’t use soil for your indoor plants and try getting into hydroponics or semihydroponics instead. This saves so much water and doesn’t contribute to mining of soil
Fertilise plants with fruit peels, coffee grinds, and tea leaves. (DO NOT use chemical fertiliser on soil)
Plant more legume plants in your garden instead of using nitrogen fertilisers. (Look up the nitrogen cycle if you need an explanation on this)
Avoid pesticides unless really needed. Try sprinkling cinnamon powder on soil or spraying neem oil on plants and soil to keep away pests.
If you have a lawn, try looking into rain gardens and consider making one
Let the (non invasive) weeds in your lawn/garden grow! They are there for a reason!
Stop killing earthworms and millipedes in your garden. This also applies to snails native to your region. They are there for a reason.
Water used to wash fruits and rice can be used to water plants
— REDUCE, REUSE
Use the caps of jars as soap holders
Use recycled paper/notebooks
Wash and dry your glass/plastic items before throwing them in the recycling bin
Keep any plastic bags for future use
Use eco friendly or reusable dish sponges
Use reusable straws and cups
Invest in a fabric cup holder
Bring a water bottle with you wherever you go
Drink more water and less sugary drinks
Bring reusable bags for buying groceries instead of using plastic ones
Always keep a folded up tote/shopping bag with you in case you spontaneously decide to buy something
— ELECTRICITY
Set a timer on your air conditioning instead of letting it run throughout the night
Better yet, use a fan instead of an air conditioner
Open your windows! Aerate your home!
Allow natural light to enter your home during the daytime, so as to avoid turning on your lights
Switch to LED lightbulbs instead of regular lightbulbs
Turn off any switches in your house when they are not in use
Collect the water from your air conditioner/dehumidifier condenser and use that to water plants, clean surfaces, steam ironing, and flushing toilets. Do not drink it though!
— INTERNET
Delete your all of your unwanted emails
Delete your inactive social media accounts
Try not to post excessively on social media and stop scrolling excessively too. This not only reduces energy usage but also improves your mental health and productivity
Try to keep to one social media app instead of having so many
Reduce your internet usage
Save your eBooks on a thumbdrive instead of on cloud
Use Ecosia instead of Google
Stop being influenced by social media trends that only just contribute to consumerism
Download music instead of streaming
Reduce online shopping
— FOOD
Reduce intake of processed foods
Reduce intake of fish, beef, and dairy
Try eating vegan or vegetarian foods at least once or twice a week
Cook your own meals instead of eating out
Bring your own food containers when taking away food from stores
Beeswax wrap instead of cling wrap!
Buy loose-leaf tea or plastic free tea bags instead of regular tea bags
Eat more mushrooms, vegetables, and fruits and drink more water
Support local farmers
And finally, educate yourself more about ecology and the environment!

Hi, I've only just got into solarpunk and find it really cool.
I was wondering, what sort of simple lifestyle changes would you suggest to start with when trying to live in a more solarpunk/sustainable way?
Hi! So glad you're getting into solarpunk! We think it's pretty cool, too, and we're happy you're looking for ways to integrate it into your life. Since you haven't included anything specific about your situation or what you're interested in, this list is pretty general - if you want more specific ideas, feel free to send in another ask!
In the meantime, here are a few recommendations for getting started:
Grow something. Depending on your situation, you may not be able to put in a huge outdoor garden. But there are many plants that will be perfectly happy in a pot on a windowsill, and still others that are happy to grow in low-light situations. Find something that works for your space and get some hands-on experience with growing things. (If you have a window, I highly recommend herbs - many of them are happy in pots and there's something incredibly satisfying about eating things you've grown.)
Compost. Unless your space is extremely tiny, you probably have room for a small composting system. Some can even go under a sink or in a closet. See this post for a general discussion, this post for vermicomposting ideas, and this one for info on bokashi composting. Also check out our #compost tag.
Mending. Mending is a great skill to have. The life of most clothing (and a lot of non-clothing fabric items) can be extended dramatically with some basic sewing skills. I've made entire dresses and quilts and I still find most of my sewing is repairing and mending other stuff. We have a mending tag, but I also love YouTube for this. Searching "how to mend X" (e.g. "how to mend hole in crotch of jeans") gives you a bunch of awesome tutorials. You can get even more use out of things if you're willing to embrace visible mending.
Reduce energy use. Try to use natural light where you can. Set your thermostat high in summer and low in winter and use the principle "heat/cool the person, not the space." Flush the toliet with graywater by removing the p-trap from your sink and dumping the collected wash water into your toilet tank (or directly into the bowl if you have an American-style greedy cup siphon toilet). Experiment with solar energy. What you can do depends on your situation, but see what kind of options you have.
Integrate the 7 R's: There are more R's to sustainable living than just "Reduce Reuse Recycle". See this post for a primer.
Build community: One of the foundations of solarpunk is that it's about community. Even if you start out doing it by yourself, eventually you need a community to do bigger things. My favorite way to start is by meeting the neighbors. Taking over some food (cookies are great) and introducing yourself is a great way to open a relationship. We also have a community building tag for more ideas.
You can find even more ideas in these tags, depending on what you specifically want to do:
#apartment solarpunk
#dorms and small spaces
#community building
#activism
#fiber crafts
#diy
There's also some additional tips in this post and this post, which are earlier responses to similar asks.
I hope this helps! Followers, feel free to chime in with your best tips!

hi! since i've really leaned into witchcraft and spirituality, i became much more appreciative of the earth and i've been talking to her lots but i want to also become more sustainable in my daily life to help the environment even in small ways. do you have any ideas for simple things to do or habits to change to be more sustainable?
I do indeed!!
I think some the best things you can do for sustainable living is develop sustainable skills:
Learning to sew allows you to:
- fix holes in clothes
- adjust the height/seams/etc of clothes
- crop or add to items of clothing
Which means that clothes have a longer lifespan in general!
Learning to garden (even if its windowsill gardening!) helps you:
- spend less on certain herbs or plants (an easy way to start is regrowing spring onions in water)
- grow more native plants in your area
- encourage more insects into your garden
Learning to cook and bake can actually be super helpful because:
- you don't rely on takeaways or ready meals as often
- you can have more control over where your food is sourced and what you're eating
- you can meal plan and prep which saves time and money
- you can learn how to make your own jams, pickles, syrups etc! And you can get pretty creative with it!
Learning simple diy skills is super beneficial as you can:
- make things unqiue and suited to yourself (I.e. perfect sized shelves or a cabinet that fits perfectly in that gap between your bed and wall)
- restore thrifted furniture (staining to a preferred colour, cutting off legs to shorten it, fix the wobbly door etc)
- recycle old furniture, cabinets or similiar unused items into something else (I've turned a old cabinet into a small outdoor storage unit) rather than throwing them away
Learning basic maintenance for things you own is a money saver and:
- means you can fix your bike chain or replace your car's oil and filter without needing to call anyone or spend extra money
- can keep you safe and at a lower risk of motor accident (knowing how to do basic maintenance checks can help you see warning signs for damage)
- means that simpler things like clogged drains, non-flushing toilets, leaky taps etc no longer require calling and paying for a plumber
Of course you don't need to be an expert in any of these, I'm certainly not! But I can cook myself a decent meal, sew some new buttons on an old shirt or fix a hole in my jeans and restore an old wardrobe into something usable.
I love Pete Seeger's quote:
"If it can’t be reduced, reused, repaired, rebuilt, refurbished, refinished, resold, recycled or composted, then it should be restricted, redesigned or removed from production."
Basically it's so important to be aware of your consumption - avoid overconsumption, buy quality over quantity, thrift and reuse things, trade with people. Throwing things away should be a last resort or a necessity, rather than a "I don't know what else to do with it".
And, while recycling isn't quite the saviour people think it is, it is so important to get into the habit of sorting your rubbish correctly!!
Other important sustainable habits include:
Changing your eating habits. If it's feasible for you, try:
- reduce meat and dairy consumption (including fish, as they're massively overharvested)
- prioritise locally and ethically sourced animal produce (local butchers can be a great place to start for this)
- eat more seasonally (its not really feasible to only eat seasonal foods, but try to learn about them and incorporate them more)
- reduce food waste with composting, food donations, meal planning/prepping and learn to love leftovers
- invest in a tap filter and reusable water bottle (drinking tap water is not always safe depending on where you live so research first!!!)
- use public transport (or walk) where possible!
- connect with other people near you who also care about sustainable living: trade services and items and knowledge!
- learn about your local area and ecology!! I sound like a broken record saying this, but the BEST way to start living with nature, is to understand it. You can't help your local wildlife if you don't know it, you can't take steps to protect your environment if you don't know the threats.
All of these are just a few tips and ideas, they may not be feasible for everyone for numerous reasons but it's important to remember that it's not about being perfect, it's about *trying* and doing what you can.
There's so much more I could get into here, from foraging to activism to how and what to thrift vs when to splurge on new items but I think this post is long enough! Let me know if there's anything you want expanding or going into more depth on!!!

You and All Your Friends
On the first day after they found you, nobody spoke about it. There was nothing to say. On the second day after they found you, they logged in as you. Searched the drafts, the secret accounts. For a sign, or a reason, or to watch what would never be updated again. On the third day after they found you, nobody slept, and nobody cried. They waited for the upcoming event, wracked their memories for something to say that would immortalize you against your wishes, that would celebrate your life like they had any right to. On the fourth day after they found you, they told the stories. Things you didn't remember, but they did. Nobody knows why they did it, but the applause was infectious anyways. After the stories, they lined up in bathrooms, kitchens, garages — anywhere to wash their hands. On the fifth day after they found you, their hands were clean, and they felt allowed to cry. It wasn't about you, but they had each read enough books to know what to do. On the sixth day after they found you, they lost you. They opened the door of your bedroom — it no longer burned like a fire safety warning — and began to cut up papers. Nothing was recycled. On the seventh day after they found you, it was the hottest day of the year, and it would have been the hottest day of your life, only you didn't make it there in time. You would have loved it!, they said. On the eighth day after they found you, they stopped counting. On the ninth day after they found you, they began to throw away your letters. It was nobody's handwriting now. On the tenth day after they found you, someone took a bath in the bathtub where you were. Tea leaves, a candle. Nobody slipped, or swallowed, or knocked anything into the water. When they were done, they let the water drain, and cleaned the tub, then the counter, then the sink, then the toilet, then the floor, then replaced the lightbulbs, then checked the water filters, then cleaned up after themself, like a mockery. On the eleventh day after they found you, they found someone else. On the twelfth day after they found you, nobody spoke about it. There was nothing to say.

This is inspired by the responses to the “What kind of mythical creatures” and “Why they live in a manor” asks.
The ST guys are cryptids that serve Sleep as vessels. Sleep wanted them to learn more about humans, so they made them live in a random flat somewhere in London disguised as perfectly normal everyday humans. Vessel is obviously a siren who has to learn to sing in a way that won’t change the sound of his voice but also won’t cause humans to seek out the nearest source of water deep enough to submerge their heads in, such as a puddle, bucket, sink, or a toilet that one horrible time. II is a gremlin and the only one with a steady job because taking shit apart also means you know how to put it back together and fix it. III is a fire fae that keeps accidentally starting small fires around the flat, so the other guys make him wear oven mitts. IV is a selkie, and that’s why he always has his jacket on. He’s paranoid that something will happen to it, and he’ll be stuck in human form.
Slice of life moments
The guys have to figure out how to use a stove. They eventually give up and make III hold the pot or pan while one of the other guys cooks the food.
Vessel and IV are trying to figure out what goes into the trash and what goes into the recycling. Meanwhile, II and III are trying to read the shopping list at the supermarket, but IV’s handwriting is awful. They give up and just picked up stuff they thought they’d need. They buy a lot of fish, which works out because about ¾ of the list was just different kinds of fish that Vessel and IV like.
Sirens mainly live underwater so Vessel sleeps in a giant fish tank to keep from drying out.
IV can only swing in his seal form. That’s his main reason for being paranoid about his jacket getting lost, stolen, or destroyed.
There’s this one kid who lives in the flat across from them who can see what they really are, and mythical creatures are their special interest. They keep asking them questions like:
“Why do you have six eyes, and do all sirens have that many?”
“Why do you like breaking stuff?”
“Why you got oven mitts on?”
“Is the jacket a piece of your body you can just take off?”
The guys hear a knock on the door, and II answers it. He sees the neighbor’s kid holding out a tooth they lost. She decided instead of waiting for the tooth fairy to go and see if III wanted it.
II yells into the flat, “III, it’s for you!”
III goes to the door and sees the kid holding out their tooth.
He sighs. “I’m not that kind of fae.”
The kid asks, “Then what kind are you!?”
A very exhausted III replied, “If I tell you, will you go away?”
Kid: “For the rest of the day.”
III: “I’m a fire fae.”
Kid: “Okay, bye.”
Early the next morning *knock, knock*
A very sleepy Vessel answers the door.
Kid: “Good morning, Mr. Six Eyes. Is the fire fae home?”
Vessel momentarily looks shocked before remembering this kid can see what he actually looks like. Then he notices that the kid is holding a bundle of pink fabric.
Vessel: “Please don’t call me ‘Mr. Six Eyes. That’s not my name. Also, what’s that?” pointing at the bundle of pink fabric.
Kid: “Well, what is your name? And is the fire fae home or not!?”
Vessel: “My name is Vessel.” He turns to yell into the flat: “III, it’s for you.”
An also tired III comes to the door and sees the kid.
III: “What do you want?”
Kid: “If you destroy this,” holding up the fabric bundle, “I’ll leave you alone for the rest of the week.”
III: “Make it the rest of the month, and you’ll have a deal.”
Kid: “OKAY!”
III removes his oven mitts and hands them to Vessel before taking the fabric bundle from the kid. It’s the ugliest pink dress that has and probably will ever exist. The dress burns a lot faster than III expected it to.
III: “Your mum made you wear that?”
Kid: “Yes.”
III: “Your mum’s a bit daft, isn’t she.”

AN ABSOLUTE TON OF BARNACLES HEADCANONS !!!
Some more barnacles headcanons (I scraped the absolute hell out of my brain scraps to figure out some new ones tbh) HOPE YOU ENJOY !! @idiedtwicebitch
His shoes have special gripping features at the bottom so he can walk or even run on ice without worrying about falling (also doesn’t slip if he’s out with his bare paws out cuz his claws and fur help keep a steady grip).
Has broken a vase before and became incredibly guilty afterwards and so tends to be very careful around fragile objects, in his mind, he’s like a bull in a china shop.
Probably wears his boots to sleep as it brings him comfort and allows him to be up in the blink of an eye should a sudden alert sound.
Is quite a light sleeper and can be awoken by simply being in the same room as him.
Whenever he must make notes on some mission, he tends to mindlessly doodle his crew in the margins. Sometimes sketches the creatures he saw too.
Probably sees his bed as a sacred spot and doesn’t allow others to go on it but if someone like Peso come over in a worried state he lets them sit on his bed.
Is great at comforting others from nightmares or night terrors (as he has experience) and gives the best cuddles and advice for whoever wants to entrust him with such a vulnerable topic.
As a kid used to chew on graphite. It seems funny and like something he miiight do.
Is very intolerant to sour things and often makes a scene if his food or drink have even the tiniest amount of lemon or lime.
Is alright with spices but likely doesn’t really enjoy them.
Hides matches from Kwazii, just in case.
Sometimes likes to go up to trees after a mission/if free and just scratch his back against them, having been caught in the act a few times xD.
Can juggle and sometimes juggles rocks just to make sure he doesn’t forget the talent.
Taught the vegimals how to make paper from scratch and sometimes supplies the crew’s stash for drawing/crafts purposes.
Knows quick math but uses the grid method for any number equations over 1000.
His fur can get matted quite easily and so he spends time out of each day to carefully brush it out, avoiding any naturally occurring sticky substances such as tree sap or honey.
Keeps some medical supplies in a cookie tin under his bed so if he ever gets seriously hurt he can deal with his injuries himself. Doesn’t like to ask others for help or bother our already stressed Peso.
When he can’t sleep he sometimes looks out the window at the nocturnal sea creatures or at rare occasions goes out for a quick swim.
Likes the sound his claws make when scratching glass but doesn’t get the opportunity to do it all that much. Does always volunteer to dispose of unneeded glass for Tweak so he can have a little fun before it gets recycled.
Bianca gave him a rubber duck when he was a child and he doesn’t have the heart to throw it away or put somewhere to rot so he sometimes just takes a bath with a rubber ducky (I have no idea if they have a bathroom in their octohome but oh well. New head cannon: they have a bathroom with a toilet, bathtub, shower, sink, and a bunch of shelves for everyone’s stuff. Kwazii just has a 4 in 1 soap bottle, Dashi has a ton of different brands and variety of products, Tweak just has their personal shampoo and body wash, Shellington is insistent on having conditioner to keep his fur nice and soft, Peso just preens but at times uses just water to freshen up, and Barnacles tends to forget to restock his soap and shampoo so he tends to just borrow other people’s stuff secretly - but does make sure to always keep their preferred brands and items in fu stock.)
Has a magnifying glass he sometimes uses when on a solo mission, being inspired by a few of his favourite movie heros.
Forgets they have a fridge and often needs the vegimals to remind him to eat, yet as he’s in charge of most the supplies going in and out of the octopod, he keeps a list of everything they need and does a monthly check up to make sure everyone has their preferred meals and snacks- often forgetting his own favourites.
Has an irrational’ fear of long cables and nets after getting tangled in them when he was a young cub/on one of his solo adventures.
Has a small pocket on his jacket which he keeps a little notebook with a pen in at all times.
Sometimes insists others wear gloves when handling things but himself struggles to put them on for his paws are incredibly furry, and he refuses to cut the fur because he believes he looks more approachable and kind with big mittens for hands rather than others seeing his exposed claws and individual ‘fingers’.
Has a few signs he sometimes puts on his door to announce to others passing by if he wishes to not be disturbed or if he’s fine with being bothered.
Has a steady hand and despite being a bit uncomfortable, he isn’t afraid of needles and has had a few moments where he had to use one on himself to give himself some medication before.
He tends to squint from habit as when he was a cub the snow often reflected a lot of light and so to avoid going blind had to close his eyes almost completely.
Really enjoys the Antarctic nights which last for months.
After eating he always sneaks himself a few toothpicks to keep his teeth nice and clean.
Is probably one of the only ones who know how to use the octopod’s washing machine apart from tweak and inkling.
Doesn’t believe in much superstitions but loves to find good omens (same as Shellington (also head canon))
Makes himself a flowery perfume and wears it on inactive days so if he spends a lot of time in close proximity with the crew they won’t get scared from him, or atleast be comforted by the scent.
If/when he draws himself, he usually adds very cute and sweet eyes to his face and draws a heart or star around his head.
Is surprisingly good at making soup and has practice with cooking it for all the others, but usually lets the vegimals do most of it (when a day has been busy he sometimes finds himself wanting to make some food for others and even as the vegimals insist he should rest he sometimes makes personal meals for each of his crew friends).
Keeps fake flowers in his room so it feels like there’s some life and as he forgets to water real ones usually.
Is very serious when it comes to the almost monthly check on any medical machinery in the octopod and insists on changing anything out a few weeks before their expiration date.
Keeps a few jars of jam hidden away in his room that he and Biance make almost every year, as it helps them bond and is a tradition they had since they are little cubs. His favourite jam is probably blackcurrant, with cherry and raspberry being tied in second place.
Occasionally watches recordings of the crew on the monitor in his room, especially after a nightmare or if he’s feeling a bit down.
Had a bracelet from practically every single one of the crew and despite rarely wearing them (to not damage them) he holds them dear to him and keeps them on his bedside table. Dashi made him one out of string, Peso and Kwasii made him one out of beads, Shellington’s is from shells, and tweak gave him a rusty bolt from their first octopod. He loves each of their gifts.
Is quite sensitive to insults and often carries the weight of them long after they’ve passed.
At times helps Peso preen his feathers.
Carries around a hand fan almost everywhere he goes in case his head or paws get too warm.
His belt has an option of straightening into a stiff material and acts as a sword, part of the underside also sharpened just in case he needs to use it.
Can’t help himself around big red buttons (but who can? XD)
Offers a cup of tea or hot cocoa to anyone in his presence for longer than 2 minutes.
Has a safety pin on his jacket (iykyk)
Has a dream catcher above his bed.
Keeps a picture of each of the Octonauts in his bedside table.
worries about squishing others whenever he hugs them
Has a small statue of a white dove in his room.
Has made a plushie of himself with some of his fur inside it for Peso to help comfort him from any nightmares he may experience.

I was surprised when they listed this as an earth ship. I thought it was just a hacienda style home, but then I saw the back of it. Most definitely an earth ship. This one was built in 2017 in Harriet, Arkansas. It's huge, but the living quarters has 2bds, 1.5ba. To live off the grid in this ship, (it's a lot of work to have to do everyday), it will cost $2M.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Earth ships are typically constructed of natural and recycled materials, such as earth-packed tires, cement, bottles & cans. This is a cozy living room.
Tumblr media
It's totally off the grid, but has all the modern appliances, etc., that run off the solar panels, diesel generator, propane generator & well water.
Tumblr media
There's a main house and several other buildings on the property, including an 892 sq ft guest house/dog kennel, huge cabana, 4 bay garage w/ office area/hobby shop & summer cottage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kitchen is huge and pretty colorful and cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like the colorful tiles and built-in furniture.
Tumblr media
Very large sunroom.
Tumblr media
The 2 bedrooms are open.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Behind this metal scrollwork is a walk-in closet.
Tumblr media
The bedroom has no wall, but it's kind of in its own area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The full bath. In this home there are composting toilets.
Tumblr media
This is the guest house.
Tumblr media
Has a kitchenette.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Open bedroom/living area and large bath.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4 bay garage has a workshop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To the left of this building are the huge water tanks.
Tumblr media
Kind of a small garden for such a large compound. The lot is 40 acres, so there's plenty of room.
Tumblr media
Look at the stick fencing in front of the main house.

Redid my internsona/dramasona to match my style more... mostly meaning I gave them Big Trousers.
More Intern Lore™ under the cut!
Actually fairly short (5'3) but wears Dr Martens with HUGE SOLES to bump up their height- mostly hidden by their excessively large cargo trousers.
Aroace and nonbinary. Comfortable with any pronouns and personally uses they/them.
Wears an asexual signifier ring (black ring on the right middle finger) and a malachite necklace. Collects gemstones but doesn't subscribe to the spiritual healing ideals, they just think gems and shiny rocks are cool.
Super concerned with the other interns' wellbeing whilst steadfastly ignoring their own; they take sporadic cat naps instead of having a regular sleep schedule but encourage others to get a full eight hours, they carry around water bottles to keep others hydrated but personally live on Monster Energy and different types of tea, ect.
Can and will take awful treatment from other people without batting an eye (doesn't care about mistreatment against themself) but the moment an injustice happens against someone else they're throwing hands.
Presents as fairly stoic/sarcastic but generally doesn't mean to be. They just have an awful case of RBF and have a hard time expressing emotions... that doesn't mean they're not a sardonic little shit.
Super diverse sense of humour and very committed to the bit. Will laugh at even the lowest brow comedy, including toilet humour and dick jokes. Likes to engage in "battles of wits" with other interns which starts of fairly intelligent but usually devolves into throwing awful puns at each other or recycling terrible "your momma" jokes.
Actually proficient as an intern; their previous jobs in customer service, fast food and retail have prepared them for physically and emotionally strenuous jobs. Too bad they're incredibly lazy and often 'trade' off their tasks and/or procrastinate on their duties until the last second.
Incredibly pale skin that burns and bruises super easily. They wear long sleeves and baggy trousers to cover as much skin as possible because of this.
