These Are Our Waters

These are our waters. The boater, navigating veins that have pumped through this network for a quarter of a century, veins that fed an industrial revolution the beating heart of a colonial empire.

These are our waters. The railway man saw them as a threat and wedded together steel and waters, only later to leave them tired and disused while they told their grand stories of a new age and left the waters in the shadows.

These are our waters. Easter boat gatherings – idle woman, no never idle from WWII with their IW badges working hard along these inland waterways.

These are our waters. Making life better by waters – from Tony Hayles & Alan Layton to giving praise to Leeds’ unsung heroes, all visionaries and dreamers transforming places enriching lives.

These are our waters. Young blood pumping nowhere to go, these waters know young and wild, nurtures and care for adolescents as they swagger and shout these are our endz.

These are our waters. Empire’s children return to the neighbourhoods bordered by mills, factories and steelworks. Here in our backyards in a basin of diversity running parallel to alleyways we play, we dare and make love under tunnels and by the lands that kiss and rub next to towpaths and in the evening, we colour them Diwali mix-tape folk dance with hip-hop.

These are our waters that will carry our sorrows. The bush and hanging trees catching our waiting dreams and waters will take our misery and herons will show you the joy of standing still, until the sun goes down.

These are our waters, let it be said by women who have to navigate dark corners, the roving eye just to walk these waters to run in freedom to the horizon that others take for granted.

These are 2,000 miles of water breathing life into countryside urban spaces, villages and hamlets corridors to another world, creating and conjuring green and blue spaces. Black Country Voyages to a Brummie Canal Serenade of riverside festivals and Shakespeare on the waters. Lock keepers and Heron watchers volunteers and community gardeners paddler and wild water swimmers knit and natter to make it better this is the Super Slow Way these are our waters.

Omg c’est genre rendu fucking n’importe-quoi ma vie comme j’sais même pu quoi faire pour réeussir à coper avec la fucking situation, ça fait quatre ans que tout ce que je fais c’est littéralement paranoyer à chaque fois que j’sors de chez nous. Pis le pire c’est que sans entrer dans les détails, j’ai été acquitté sur la totalité des chefs, faute de preuves, aucune preuves était admissibles. Bref Pas envie d’expliquer les faits qui font aucun sens (du coté des témoins c’était, mettons que les versions des faits, en tout cas le groupe s’était po consulté faut croire) Anyway, fucking bouffonerie parce-que j’ai été arson pis mon père à décidé de tout vendre mon falk shit aux cops comme si ne rien était, j’ai aucune idée de qu’est-ce qu’il leur a raconté, mais ça adonne que c’est un méga shit show pis j’suis pogné a répondre à des questions de marde à tout bout de champ à propos de l’affaire qui va toujours probablement ressortir (parce-que ma clown d’avocat a eu la brillante idée de laisser les média parler (pis rendu là j’suis tellement rendu pu capable de parler à personne, j’suis tellement écoeuré de tout le monde qui comprennent rien dans vies, comme fuck le progrès social, comme moi ma sécurité là dedans. Comme c’est une victoire pour mon osti d’avocate de marde, mais pour moi qui craint l’exposition comme personne pis qui panique à rien c’est la pire des fucking défaites. Comme dans mon contexte ça fait carrément de moi une cible pis j’dois littéralement vivre avec des rappels de la chose à chaque jours. Tout ça pourquoi? Juste parce-que j’ai jamais aimé mes parents qui m’ont toujours tout saboté pis qui n’ont jamais supporté quoi que ce soit sauf mes échecs, comme tsé les gens qui ont des relations qui auraient du finir en one night stand (les deux passent leur vies à exploiter leur partenaires de vie, oops) pis y décident de faire des enfants? Ben les responsabilités s’appliqueront pas vraiment (y te parke chez leur propres parents en fait, c’est comme, ouin). Bref Tout pour dire l’exposition c’est bon pour les vedettes pas le monde ordinaire pour qui ça scrappe littéralement la leur puisqu’ils sont presque toujours forcé de vraiment réfléchir sur la chose sinon y pourraient carrément passer la limite de ce qui peut être dit (oh, pas d’admission ici, on parle des reçus) comme rendu au point ou j’en suis pis à quel point toute chie je sais juste pu quoi faire à part vous garocher de la marde. Comme j’abandonne l’idée de garder ça pour moi (euh j’parle de l’histoire, po le footage là, lui c’mon mien, allez collecter vos beef si vous voulez vivre la vie trépidante des gens pauves et paranoiaques. Fun times all the time.

Let’s do both Dimma and Fen then

7. Dragonborn’s preferred school of magic? How good are they at it?

Dimma

Her preferred school is alchemy. She’s quite proficient at it, since she her mother is an alchemist, and taught her a lot about it when she was younger. Her day job is apothecary, so she also knows a lot about poisons and medecine. Overall, alchemy is really something she enjoys and finds her strength in.

Another school of magic she’s fond of is conjuration. Her preferred weapons are a conjured bow and a conjured dagger, since she likes to travel light. She also usually conjure a fire atronach when exploring ruins, to get a extra pair of eyes to keep out for draugr. She’s good at it, but nowhere near a mastery level.

Fen

Fen specialises in illusion magic. She’s quite adept at it, especially invisiblity and frenzy spells. She’s good enough that she gets to give lectures at the college of winterhold from time to time. She’s also trying to make some new spells of her own, but so far she remains unsuccessful.

8. Is your Dragonborn religious? Who’s their favoured god/pantheon?

Dimma

As a half-dunmer, she’s been taught to worship the Reclammations by her mother, and the Nordic pantheon by her father. Though she’s particularly devout to Akatosh (after learning she is dragonborn) and her patron goddess is Kyne.

She does not worship Talos, since as a half elf, it’s already kinda awkward, but also because her father disowned her when his stormcloack buddies started squinting at the fact he had a half elf daughter (her mother had already left to morrowind at the time)

Fen

She also quite religious, thought unlike Dimma, who takes time out of her day to worship Kyne and Akatosh, Fen is less observant. She will go to shrines, take part in ceremonies and that kind of things if she comes across it, but won’t get out of her way to show her piety. She believes gods don’t interfere with mortals, and are content to just watch over them, so trying to get their favour by being extra devout seems useless to her. She still respects the gods, she just think they want mortals to make their own choices.

Her deities of choice are the Hawk (Kyne), as well as Auri-el . The pantheons she worships are the falmeri pantheon (mostly Auri-el and Jephre) and the atmoran pantheon. As an Atmoran, she still uses the animal names of her gods rather than the nordic names.

While she does not worship him, the daedric prince Hircine has taken an interest in her, and they share some history together. It is a love hate relationship on Fen’s part.

🌈About The Meeting🌈

      Many of us know the phrase ‘sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me’. The idea that words cannot hurt us if we choose not to let them. But, as many minority or underprivileged communities can tell you, reality may be more complicated. Where does this mindset leave ‘slurs’? Words specifically designed to discriminate, ostracize and isolate their targets? And where does it leave those who would "reclaim" this language?

      There’s a lot of existing discourse about slurs out there: the pros and cons of reclamation, who can or should "get" to use them, what "counts" as a slur. We've touched on these topics in passing throughout previous ALGAE meetings.

      This week, we’re carving out a space specifically to discuss our thoughts and feelings about homophobic slurs. As an international group, we imagine there’s definitely some difference of opinion, and even contextual understanding for different words. The ALGAE team hopes it can be an opportunity to learn, think, vent, and even after to disagree in a respectful and positive environment.

       While there's nothing required for this meeting, we invite everyone to consider the following questions, to promote discussion:

🌈 How do you feel about slur reclammation? Do you believe it's useful, individually or collectively empowering, or a possible form of activism?

🌈 Who can say what? - Where's your line on who can say them? (example: in the past, there have been instances where gay men and lesbians have used eachothers) 🌈 How do international contexts complicate this discussion? When words have different histories for different people, how does this impact how we talk about them? 🌈 How can we practice our individual beliefs about homophobic slurs and reclaiming language while considering the beliefs and feelings of other gay people on the subject?

Dimma again, in her thieves guild master armor this time. She joined up after her home in Helgen was destroyed, when she thought that Lyon and Elia ( that I have yet to introduce you to, but basically her family) died. Initially just a mean to get money to buy a house and start a new life, she found a new family with the guild, taking archery lessons with Niruin, sharing stories with Rune and so on. Not quite sold on this whole Nocturnal thing, since she is a devout Reclammations and Divines worshipper.

Also, ebony dagger given to her by Lyon as a birthday gift when she was 15.

Didier Drogba en avocat pour son coéquipier. L’international ivoirien , Yao Kouassi Gervais dit Gervinho, n’a plus été appelé en équipe nationale de Côte d’Ivoire dépuis l’arrivée de Kamara Ibrahim au post d’entraineur.
