Unique Magic: "The Witches' Sabbath" The witches' sabbath was once described as a nocturnal gathering to perform rituals for demons, now it is used by Salem to call upon others for aid. Using her familiar, Eugene, some of the surrounding nature can be pulled towards his body, morphing into what is essentially a black hole. Once absorbing enough material, Eugene can transform into a pitch black beacon. This solely alerts other magic users in a twenty-five mile radius to her location, and those who are around the beacon during its activation receive is a significant boost in power, along with less blot accumulation. However, the spell cannot be activated while she and Eugene are separated.

Despite her typically serious and down to earth personality, this has landed her in trouble a good handful of times. She's no stranger to chaos, or the cops for that matter, but despite all of this, she is a gentle old soul with an endless capacity for care. She believes magic is the perfect means to keep her friends and family out of trouble. "No magic" seems like a stupid law in comparison when it could keep them all happy, healthy, and safe.

This belief does come with more downsides than simply breaking the law, though, as her abilities are quite... limited. While Salem has an unending passion for the craft, she also tends to overestimate herself. With her main focus being on fortune-telling and clairvoyance, she will often find herself extremely paranoid by the little things, given the (more than likely) chance her predictions are incorrect. Even with how much this may drive herself and her close ones crazy, she is, in the end, just trying her best.

It felt like everytime I tried to insert her into some new AU, something would come up :P Anywho, She is a rather neutral character. She doesn't care a bunch about morality as long as it follows her own code- which, hey, I guess explains how she could end up with and be exes with Yuu Shi. Aftermath of doomed yuri? ya. Hello! For a hypothetical Into The Scarlet-Witchverse which generations (classic,90s,etc) or versions (Earth 'insert here' or Cartoon Shows) would you want in your line up? Are there any fun or interesting interactions you would want to see between them?

It's shame that Wanda doesn't have more fun multiverse storylines under her belt, because she's uniquely well-suited to them. One of the main things we learned about Wanda's Nexus powers in Scarlet Witch (1995) is that Wanda has an innate connection to other Nexus beings throughout the multiverse, several of which are alternate versions of herself, like Lore. So, it should, theoretically, be pretty easy to get a bunch of Wandas in a room together.

I've said it before, but I think that understanding Wanda's Nexus powers is the key to understanding how her reality-altering abilities are supposed to work and properly contextualizing everything that happened with both her babies and the Decimation. I've written at length about it here and here. So I really want to refresh this subject for modern readers, and I think that throwing Wanda into something like The Variants or the roadtrip arc from Young Avengers (2013) would be a great way to do it.

I wouldn't want to do a multiversal-hub/peacekeeping-corps situation like Spider-Verse or Captain Britain-- for Wanda, the stakes of using her Nexus powers are usually more personal and close to home. It's more about how opening herself up to the expansiveness of her abilities makes her powerful, but also vulnerable, and the stories which relate to this usually involve Wanda being taken advantage of and having to reclaim her agency. In the past, most of those stories have been... problematic, to put it lightly. Revisiting it with fresh eyes and her contemporary treatment could be really rewarding.

This might literally be where Scarlet Witch (2024) is heading-- in this year's Women of Marvel, there was foreshadowing that Wanda would be "exploring the possibilities she holds," and her featured story was actually about Wanda getting support from one of her variants. We also know that Wanda will be encountering the Queen of Nevers and coming face-to-face with Lore again. Wanda's new enemy, the Griever, is a universal abstract that represents the final end of the multiverse-- maybe exploring her multiversal potential is how Wanda will defeat her.

What versions of Wanda would I want to see? Well, as I mentioned, she doesn't have that many interesting canon variants, but part of the charm of Spider-Verse is that it always generates a bunch of new, eclectic Spideys. Momiji and Weapon Hex are both great, and I think Wanda Strange from the Variants and Imperious Hex from Tarot could both be developed into fun What If characters. I really liked my Bride of Doom and Witch of Wundagore concepts from this post. I'm extremely fond of the Elizabethan fantasy world that Gillen invented for the Secret Wars version of 1602, and it would be cool to see Romani characters in that setting that are, like, authentic and not racist. I feel like you could do something inspired by The Tempest...

Also, Wanda's powers are very broad, so I think the key would be to give each Wanda a specific focus point or gimmick based on her universe. The Wolverine, Namor, and Strange fusions are obvious, and Momiji could focus on illusions and mental manipulation. The others, I'm less sure.

I don't personally care for any of Wanda's movie or TV versions-- I think most of them are very poor adaptations of the character. Obviously the M C U is the worst, but even the cartoons usually whitewash her. But if you change up the visual designs a little and give them a better backstory, some of them have potential--

United They Stand Wanda as Agatha's successor in a story that focuses more on historical covens, New Salem, etc.; drawing inspiration for her powers from the psuedo-pagan treatment she got in the 80s.

Iron Man Wanda in the Force Works costume as the version who's most focused on her probability powers, maybe play her as more of a tech specialist than the other Wandas.

WatXM Wanda as the main representation of Wanda-as-Magneto's-daughter, being the princess and heir of a mutant nation experiment (better than HoM, that's for sure!)

Evolution Wanda as a rebellious punk kid-- maybe with a new, matching design for Pietro? Just based on how the design was inspired by The Craft, it might be cool to play like a character who just stepped out of a horror movie.

Option 1: Fireworks 🎆

The Drifter invites you to step out of your to-do list and your ordinary routine to feel the breeze against your skin, calling you to follow the wind and explore life’s opportunities. When the Drifter appears, it’s a sign that it’s time to cut the mooring lines holding you to the dock. It’s not important to know the destination before you set sail; it will become clear as you leave port. Do not wait for a map, as there are none to where you are destined to go. You may have been offered a shovel to help you dig yourself out of an uncomfortable situation, a bucket to drink from the well. A great Feast is laid out before you and requires you to choose. What will satisfy your hunger: something new and unconventional, with its potential for bitter or savory qualities, or something you already know you love? You are faced with a plethora of options right now, and while that may seem to be an extraordinary thing, too many choices can throw you off balance. You might be worried that once you commit, you won’t be able to turn back or refuse to confront the consequences of that decision. The most important thing to realize is that the Feast is offering you experience—no amount of overanalyzing or strategizing will help you make the right choice now. Don’t debate the right- or wrongness. Instead, just choose. In the choosing is the seed of experience, and that is what is necessary now. Sour, bitter, sweet, savory—what matters is relishing the experience until you digest all that your choice is offering you right now. Only one warning: avoid the same choice if it keeps you hungry. If something didn’t feel good or does not bring you what it seemingly promised, do not choose that again. The experience will only repeat itself, and you will have more than a bad taste in your mouth. The Feast is yours to enjoy. You can always go back for more when you’re hungry again, for life’s blessings are ever available to you and calling your name.

Can you do a post on how yoongi is currently doing post dui and after the final verdict? I’m still so worried about him and thinking about him every day :( I hope he’s getting a lot of support from the members, his family and friends.

After finding back the decks that I thought that I lost, I first pulled a card from the energy oracle deck and I got the card of envy. I did not perceive it as literarly, but what I saw more was as if a kid that was grounded and was looking through his window at the other kids playing freely outside. I am sure that by describing this image you can feel the vibe I was getting.

Further on, I pulled the oracle card 'your soul has fucked off'. I got a sense of dissociation. He is distancing himself from certain situations that might make him feel a certain way but he needs to be a bit careful not to get lost in that numbness.

I finally pulled a card from the tarot and I got the ten of cups. There is a certain unhapiness and sadness but it is not heavy as in depressive. Just a bit unhappy and there is dissatisfaction.

After that, I pulled the card 'individuality' and it gave me the vibe that he might feel lonely but in the sense of feeling singled out or feeling like only you are going through a tough time compared to others (again this can be related to the envy card).

As last, I got the 'bone collector' card. I was gettting moving on, starting over and learning from the past in order to move on. Pretty much taking experiences through certain situations as opportunities for the future.

I was particular interested in what the messages actually were for two cards and once I read them I believe they fit what I was getting myself:

Your soul has fucked off:

"Meditate and ask your soul to come back cleared and healed because you really can't do this bullshit earth thing without being totally present in your physical bodys When you feel you are beside yourself, you literally are. Your soul is just out of reach from your physical body because something or someone has made it uncomfortable for it to stay with you. Give it permission to heal and come back to you so you can get on with the job."

The bone collector:

"When the Bone Collector appears, she is asking you to look closely at your cir- cumstances to see if you're fully present or reacting out of past conditioning and unconscious expectations. Whenever we're wounded, especially when we're young, it's as if something is stolen from us. We adapt, and accept a particular version of the truth that then sets us up to behave a certain way in the future when faced with a situation that reminds us of the original event. About me: I have not chosen a name, but you can call me Rain.

This body is a vessel to many souls, none more extraordinary than others, none a deity, none a supernatural force from the outside, but each wise and unwise in their own ways.

We are all looking for a way to connect deeper, and ways to see, to understand. Though mature enough in the ways of the world, in spirit we are a child, a youngling opening its eyes for the first time.

This is where I will record the thoughts, the observations we'll make along our journey. This'll be a digital notebook, if you will. That's about as much as I know for now. We'll see what else it becomes.

About the blog: You may recognise the reference in the blog's title. It's light-hearted - I've chosen the title to use for what I am and the way I practice, because what the name refers to is unclaimed, not real, part of a popular story. Upon taking my very first steps, I explored shamanism in my region, and was disappointed to learn that the modern movement here follows a "pan-shamanistic" approach rather than a more specific form of shamanism that is culturally and historically our own. I have no interest in further stealing, appropriating, or colonising specifically indigenous spiritual practices, and knowing that the local shamanistic movement would heavily "borrow" (steal) from those, I've chosen to step aside from that path before starting.

It leaves me very alone where I am, and I didn't know what to call myself. Tongue in cheek, I have chosen to borrow from fiction for now, until I know better what I am or will be, or should be called instead. I also feel that the title embodies the core values for my own spirituality: a connection and oneness with nature, revering my roots in the earth, and my duty and privilege to listen to the planet, to learn from everything around me. I want to touch my fingers to the ground and connect to it so that I can feel the life that is in everything, and breathe alongside our world, seen and unseen.

Finally, I hope that one day, we'll find others to exchange thoughts with.

Trust and Loyalty

The wheel said it's Leo's turn, but I wanted to give the story a bit more of an opening than "cut to game night in the lair with April," so I naturally wrote an entire interlude featuring Splinter. I even drew a whole new tarot card from my deck for this, just for consistency (it was the King of Pentacles).

Why can't I be this productive with my homework?

In the shadows of a New York alleyway, a human-sized turtle monster creeps toward the corner of East Lairdman Street and Easter Egg Lane. It wanders slowly, taking ample time to balance and readjust the tall stack of boxes in its hands. It cranes its head to the left, then to the right before kicking open a manhole at its feet. Then, it sinks below the surface.

Suddenly, though, it freezes in place. With a ladder rung in one hand and the boxes in the other, it cannot easily descend to the sewers below. It raises its body once more and attempts to place the boxes on the ground by the entrance. However, it loses its footing. Both the creature and the boxes begin tumbling toward the pipes, sewage, and concrete below.

This graceful creature is named Regiomontanus.

They stifle a scream as they grasp a nearby ladder rung. Trembling, they marvel at the fact that they are still alive, as well as the fact that they have reclaimed two of their boxes. Their awe quickly turns to panic and disappointment, however, as they realize the fate of the other five boxes in the stack. They return the manhole cover to its rightful location, then hurry down the ladder to assess the situation. Amazingly, though each of the boxes has sustained varying volumes of scratching and tearing, none of them are completely destroyed. Just as they can process the damage to their precious boxes, a sharp voice from around the corner ignites another surge of adrenaline.

"Blue? Is that you? What's with all the racket?"

Gio snaps their head in the direction of the voice, only to see a short, stout rat mutant approaching. Stumbling over their words, they somehow manage to squeak out a "Who are you?"

The rat stares at them in silence for a couple seconds, then straightens his posture a bit. "I think that's what I should be asking you," he replies. "You look quite a bit like my boys, yet with anything more than a passing glance, I can easily tell that you are not one of them."

"...Your boys?"

"Yes. I have four sons. They're all turtles like you."

"...You don't mean..."

"...You don't happen to already know them, do you?"

"I...um...yeah. I met them a couple weeks ago. I came over to play some board games with them today...but then I dropped most of my stuff on the way down..."

"...Hmm. Why don't I walk you in, and you tell me how you met them?"

Gio nods silently, then reorganizes their boxes and follows the rat man down the spacious sewers. They share the story of their first meeting with the turtle brothers, taking a bit of additional time to detail on their future interactions with Michelangelo and Donatello.

"Well, I'm glad that they've found another friend...and that Purple has something new to keep him busy. He always gets so restless when he doesn't have any experiments or projects to do," the rat remarks with a chuckle. "I can't help but wonder, though... What on Earth were you doing out in public looking like...that whole situation? You know how risky it is, don't you?"

"Yeah, but at the time, I thought I just had a weird skin condition! ...I didn't always look like this. I was a normal person up until about a month ago. Then I felt this awful pain in my neck--like, the worst pain in my life--and then I was...this."

The rat's gaze softens a bit, looking somewhat forlorn. "...I'm sure that was difficult."

"Y-yeah, no kidding... But the others are helping me deal with it a lot. Mikey even...he even said that he and the others could 'adopt' me as a sibling so I wouldn't feel alone. I know I'll never quite be on the same level as a 'real' sibling. I mean, I just showed up a month ago. They've been together for...however many years. But it really meant a lot to me..."

He stops briefly, prompting Gio to stop behind him. "It sounds like you've touched their hearts in some way. Orange is the sensitive type anyway, but for Purple to warm up to you so easily... I think that means there's something special about you, beyond being a turtle."

"You think so...?"

"Of course! ...I wish they'd told me about the whole 'adoption' idea earlier, though. You'd think they'd want to get, oh, I don't know, their own father on board with a big decision like that?"

Before Gio can respond, an orange blur on wheels descends from the ceiling. Michelangelo lands between his father and his new companion, then picks up his skateboard and corrects his stance. "Sorry, Dad! I've been meaning to tell you about it, but then I just kept forgetting. And when I did remember, I was kinda worried that you'd say no... Oh, and, uh, sorry for just kind of barging in on your talk. I wanted to get some skating practice in before game night, but then I heard you guys."

The rat sighs, then pats his youngest son on the head. "I would have liked to know about your idea beforehand, but I don't think I would have said 'no.' Especially if this friend of yours really means that much to you." He smiles warmly, then turns back to Gio. "What is your name, anyway? I don't think I ever asked."

"I settled on Regiomontanus; I wanted to match the others with their whole Renaissance theme. But they usually shorten it to Gio. And, uh... What should I call you? I know you're their dad, but I also have my birth dad, and I think calling both of you 'Dad' would be confusing..."

"Splinter is fine--Master Splinter if you want to show a bit of extra respect. But if you ever warm up to the idea of calling me a second father, well... I won't be opposed to that."

Gio pauses in surprise, then smiles softly. "Thank you...Master Splinter."

Mikey grins, then gently tugs the sea turtle's arm. "Come on, Gio! Let's go set up. April and the others are waiting for you!"

"Okay, okay!" The duo sprints off into the deep recesses of the lair, eager to begin their night of games and amusement.

Weekly Tarot 1/8/24 - 1/14/24

8 of Swords, 6 of Swords, 3 of Wands + Flight

Hello everyone! The tides turn this week as we approach the first New Moon of 2024. Hopefully by now you’ve concluded most of your inner organization and are ready to take the next steps towards what you’re seeking externally. The 8 of Swords often shows us how we create prisons of our own suffering when we do not take the time to manage our thoughts and mental processes. At this point, many of you may have finally come to the realization that it was only you who were obstructing your path to success. No one else was in the way. During this week, take every opportunity to reclaim your sovereignty and make mindful choices in the direction that you want to go towards.

With the 6 of Swords, you may find yourself putting an end to pointless conversations and situations. While there are some things that cannot be avoided, there are many things that you must learn how to navigate away from. Things that do not nurture or uplift you in a way that is beneficial. You might begin to recognize more patterns of thinking and speaking that have kept you in the same cycle for a while now. Lay it all to rest before the end of the week so that you may go into the following with a fresh start.

As this week comes to an end, you could find yourself finally taking action on the project you’ve been postponing for the last few months. The 3 of Wands grants you the green light to spring forth. Take what energy you have by the weekend and just do it. Start painting. Start reading. Start sewing. Start building. Start investing. Whatever that is for you, just begin. Many of you may already see significant progress before the next moon cycle if you are able to maintain your momentum. 

This week offers rich soil to plant the seeds for what you’d like to experience this year. Even if you don’t have time to light candles or do spellwork, set aside a few minutes to write down 5 things you would like to experience this year and see where it leads you. Flight appears as confirmation that this year has so much potential for you. While others might have pretty lofty goals, yours do not have to be grand or extreme. If you are still unsure of specific goals, perhaps simply setting the intention to be open to experiencing as many wonderful things as possible this year will suffice. It’s just my favorite podcast tbh. I’ll try to keep it has spoiler free as I can and I’m sorry in advance if some stuff slips through! It follows the last ‘reclaimer’ Owen Voncid as he does his job and investigates the deaths of people. I kinda see it as him being a ghost detective and a reclaimer is basically a Necromancer. Anyway Voncid or Cid as I often call him is introduced talking to Luca who is his tech support. Prior to Luca inventing the Ghost Wax cylinders they had no way of recording the talking of the dead. Technology just doesn’t like it and it tends to fitz out. Anyway Luca invented this and caused quite the stir so he was picked up by (Luca has his own thing going on but that might be considered spoilers). Anyway they are member of the order of Hamsa. Hamsa are beings who tend to body hop with people they have a compatibility with and are sworn with protecting the Vessel (which we all take as either being reality or Earth). No Hamsa has stayed as long as Cid as in one body but Cid as his reasons (it’ll break your heart)

The season is broken up into two parts. There’s 45 episodes in total out not including bonus stuff. In the second part they build up The Cypher or Mr.Media some more which is one of the Glorious. The Glorious are other beings from where the Hamsa had resided. Most of them are bad Mr.Media basically manipulates peoples relationships which the being does to Pip (who’s basically a seer of some type she reads tarot cards of other people and they turn out true) and Luca. Luca and Pip aren’t together though Luca is gay and they basically see each other as siblings. Uh, anyone else want to hop on and explain it better than I can? It’s really good and if you are interested I highly recommend you check it out episode lengths are 20-45 minutes in general.
