I am amazed
That the Todoroki family is as functional and well put together as it is, I really am. This isn't me going, 'they shouldn't want him back!', btw... though I do still think that, for the record. It's more that they go through all that, and at the end of the day only Dabi goes on to not be a productive citizen.
I'm... not really going anywhere with this, it's just... their dad is an abusive asshole, yeah, that's the baseline. He's rich, sure whatever. The important bit is, I think, is that he's a hero, and you have to remember that in that MHA context: a hero, in MHA, is more than just a celebrity, more than just a public servant. The only way I can really put it is like this; in MHA, a hero is expected to hold up the sky, and so is treated as such.
In a society fracturing under the weight of overreaching government restrictions, escalating societal pressures, civil rights movements that are starting to bloom into terrorist organizations for the sheer lack of progress being made, heroes are the glue holding it all together. They are that big, that important, that beloved.
And the Todorokis were raised by, and abused by, one such hero. But he's not just a hero, oh no: he's not some down on his luck no-name barely scraping by, or struggling to manage his job, he's Endeavor, the Number Two Hero. He's second only to All Might, which might as well mean he's first among all humans. His face and image is on toys and posters, his name known to every man, woman and child in Japan, and probably by substantial amounts on other continents as well. In short, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that he, and the other top heroes, are pillars of society.
That is the man that abused them, that is the man that ruined their lives: a man who symbolizes the very society they live in.
I'll say it again: the fact that only Dabi snapped, and went on to reject their father and everything he stands for, astounds me. After driving their mother into a psychotic break, to the point she spends the rest of her life locked away, after driving their brother into suicide, everything he does to them and they just... go onto being normal people.
In my imagination, Fuyumi is... the leader of a motorcycle gang. Why? I don't know; I don't even think one could possibly exist in a society where law enforcement can come down out of the sky and casually flip an eighteen wheeler, but... still, that's my mental image for her. I think it's the sheer level of repression she has going on being released in cathartic violence and wild rampage.
Natsuo, meanwhile, I picture having a normal job, a normal life, but being just... super subversive under the surface. Maybe he hacks hero's bank accounts, maybe he joins some crazed revolutionary organization (MHA has enough of them), or is some guerilla reporter devoted to exposing heroic corruption or something; I'm not sure which, but him having that level of secrecy in his rebellion when he's outwardly the most straightforward about his anger amuses me.
For Rei? At some point, Endeavour comes to visit her, and she's the one to give him that scar on his eye.
As a treat.
And as for Shoto? In a timeline without Midoriya correction... well. I always imagined he'd go to school and become a hero, as expected. Endeavour tries to force him into his agency, but he refuses, goes his own way, does everything he can to avoid the man, even if it damages his career prospects, but above all else he refuses to bow, refuses to bend even an inch to his father.
But Endeavour refuses to leave his prized creation alone.
And then, one day, he just... snaps. Goes full Sephiroth, in fact. He snaps, kills his father before he even knows what's happening, and just kinda... wanders off, to accidently his way into becoming a feared villain, either still not emoting at all, or again like Sephiroth (or his brother), just going full in on the crazy.
And for bonus points? The last straw that drives him over the edge? Endeavour's eye getting scarred, Endeavour looking more like him, both of them marked by Rei's hand; that last, unwanted, connection to the man he hates most, laced with some of his deepest, most unresolved trauma.

Deceiving the Duke | 5 | Todoroki Shouto
Tumblr media
pairing: Todoroki Shouto x Female Reader
length: 3.2k of 30k words | 5th of 9 chapters
summary: When Camie Utsushimi elopes on the eve of her society debut, scandal threatens to destroy the family’s prospects. It’s up to you, a maid, to impersonate Camie throughout the Season, long enough that her elder sister can make a match. The only trouble? Lord Shouto Todoroki is also intent on making a match—and that match, quite impossibly, appears to involve you.

Tumblr media
Over the next few weeks, you quickly grew even more familiar with Lord Shouto, though no closer to accomplishing your objectives.
Lord Shouto had taken to inviting you on outings, and asked for at least one dance at every ball you attended. You were always careful to utilize the time talking about Caroline, much to his persistent disinterest.
Time spent in more sharp-witted social circles than your own, however, made Lord Shouto very adept at steering the conversation his way, and more often than not, he found ways to turn things back on you. You found yourself divulging more facts about yourself than you had ever realized existed; dessert preferences—“Apricot cakes?” Lord Shouto had guessed with a horribly charming smirk—the previously promised list of your favorite novels, and para-political thoughts you later worried might reveal you as an outsider to the aristocracy.
In addition to Lord Shouto, Lady Asui and Miss Uraraka also seemed to have taken a liking to you. They appeared at your elbow almost as soon as you arrived to any party, taking you by the arm and leading you over to whatever corner they’d claimed for themselves, grilling you on Lord Shouto and any other gentleman foolish enough to ask you to dance, gossiping in return about their own would-be suitors, or other party attendees.
Through them, you learned which ladies had set their caps at which lords, which gentlemen were known for their wandering hands and were best avoided, and who had most recently snubbed who.
You were beginning to like them, the ease of their friendship, Lady Asui’s straight-shooter commentary, Miss Uraraka’s persistent cheer. They were good company. You would regret it, you thought, when the cloth had been pulled off of this charade and you had to disappear into the countryside.
Mrs. Utsushimi had noticed your newfound popularity, and had pulled you aside to whisper furiously about the danger to your operation. But her concerns were almost embarrassingly easily soothed, once she learned that you were taking any opportunity to speak well of Caroline, especially during any dance with Lord Shouto.
“They would make a beautiful match,” Mrs. Utsushimi said, her handkerchief clutched in one hand, vibrating with the force of her excitement. You could practically see stars in her eyes.
Some horrible little part of you rebelled at the idea of them together. You were surprised at your sudden impulse to squirrel Lord Shouto away for yourself, like a prize nut hidden in the hollow of a tree.
But obviously you couldn’t have him. And even if he had wanted you—once he learned of your deception, he’d hate you for sure.
That didn’t stop you from accepting his invitations, though—most recently for a promenade about the park. Ordinarily, you would have been the natural choice for Camie’s chaperone, in your capacity as a maid, but Lord Shouto, strangely, had seemed to think of this, supplying his elder sister, Lady Fuyumi and her husband—almost as if he had anticipated your household being short of chaperone supply.
“I recall the maid was indisposed at the time of my last calling,” he said vaguely when you asked, with a very carefully cultivated blank look on his handsome face that seemed almost…knowing.
But he couldn’t know, otherwise you’d have already been cast out of the capital and out of the Utsushimi’s employ.
Lady Fuyumi was incredibly kind and sweet. She asked you about your experience so far in the season, complimenting the stitching on your dress–which she could have no way of knowing you’d done yourself–and inviting you over for tea sometime.
Once you arrived at the park, she did you the good turn of walking some ways behind you and Lord Shouto. She chatted with her own husband just loud enough that you knew they were giving you some privacy.
She would make a lovely sister-in-law, and you found yourself jealous at the thought of Lord Shouto’s future wife. You hoped he chose wisely, someone who matched his thoughtful nature—you wondered if Princess Yaoyorozu was kind like him.
“There is an exhibit of Greek statues, at the other end of the park,” Lord Shouto told you as he fell into step beside you, his mouth turned up just slightly at the corner. “I thought you might enjoy it.”
You laughed, trying to scowl up at him for good measure and utterly failing. “You are incredibly presumptuous, my lord.”
Those mismatched eyes glittered down at you, a little bit mischievously. “Am I?” he asked lightly.
In direct sunlight he was even more beautiful than ever. His eyelashes left deep shadows over the tops of his high cheekbones, the colors of his heterochromatic gaze even clearer in the afternoon sunshine. He cut an especially dashing figure in his walking clothes–his shoulders broad under the dark fabric of his coat, the muscle of his legs almost too clear against his tight tan trousers.
Under his clothes, you imagined he looked exactly like the statues he meant to lead you to–a thought that had you flushing furiously under his gaze.
You sniffed imperiously, trying not to stare at him. “I should hope you would be more polite to Caroline, when you are reintroduced.”
Lord Shouto leaned in. “I should think you would not want to introduce her to any gentlemen you deem too presumptuous.”
You frowned. He always found some reason or another to avoid talk of Caroline.
Really. It was like he didn’t want to make her match! In your opinion, she was quite pretty. Tall, with large fawn eyes fringed with thick lashes, with tumbling strawberry blonde curls and a gentle manner. And she was the eldest sister besides, traditionally the sister with the largest dowry.
But Lord Shouto acted as though he did not care, finding excuse after excuse to avoid her at parties and in conversation.
“You know not what you are missing, my lord,” you told him.
He looked doubtful. “I believe I know exactly what I lack, Miss Utsushimi. I aim to remedy that by the end of the season.”
You almost tripped on the hem of your gown, your cheeks heating again.
A wife. He meant that what he was missing was a wife.
And he apparently had plans to obtain one by the end of the season!
You cast a sidelong glance at him, trying to determine what this meant. You did not miss the implications of him spending so much of his time with you, but the thought again was too absurd to consider. And there were the rumors of Princess Yaoyorozu besides. Even with him believing in your sham, why have the second daughter of an unlanded, barely-noble family when you could have a princess—the soon-to-be queen?
He was clearly associating with you in order to ward off other debutantes.
“Reign in your presumption by the end of the season?” you said, purposefully avoiding his meaning. “A bold undertaking, Your Grace.”
He laughed, a low rumbling sound that went right to your head.
“Your novels are not helping me,” he said in his low voice. “In fact, the hero always seems to possess presumption in spades. I would think you might have more tolerance for me, considering.”
You turned to stare at him, unable to help your delight. “You’ve been reading them?” you demanded eagerly.
Something like the hint of a smirk passed over Lord Shouto’s mouth, as if he knew how successfully he’d baited you. You couldn’t find it in you to begrudge him that.
“I have read three,” he said. “I can see why you like them. And also why they might be called a corrupting influence on young ladies.”
His tone was so carefully bland, you could tell he was teasing you. “You’re a corrupting influence,” you complained loudly. “Surprising young women in dark rooms, as I’ve said.”
Lord Shouto’s gaze flashed hotter for a moment, his smirk twitching even higher on the corner of his mouth—as if he liked the idea of being found a corrupting influence.
“You say it as if it is my habit,” he said. “When it’s happened only the once.”
You sniffed. “How am I to know that? You might have cornered half the ton.”
Lord Shouto stepped in front of you purposefully, so that you had to stop in your tracks, lest you bump directly into his chest. You gaped up at him, surprised.
He inclined his head towards you, as if leaning in to tell you a secret. “Half the ton has better aim, so I would not dare,” he whispered.
You laughed, grinning up at him helplessly. He looked rather pleased with himself at having drawn a smile out of you.
“The sculptures are down here,” Lord Shouto said, leading you off the path and onto a grassy slope that descended towards the burbling stream at the heart of the park. “Let me help you.”
He proffered his arm to you as he spoke. You could just see the shift of his strong shoulder under the thick fabric of his jacket and several butterflies fluttered to life in your stomach. Carefully, you reached out, taking his arm—and quite suddenly felt like you might faint, like a lady in exactly those novels you had just been discussing.
You could feel the shape of his arm under your hand, hard with muscle, flexing as he adjusted it for you. You hoped someone nearby was equipped with smelling salts, because you weren’t sure you were going to make it down to the sculptures. You clung tightly to his sleeve to keep you upright, heart racing.
Lord Shouto looked down at you curiously, those mismatched eyes sliding over you.
“I don’t want to fall,” you said quickly, digging out an excuse. A servant could very well descend a hill by herself, but you didn’t know if you were capable of unclenching your fingers from Lord Shouto’s bicep.
He led you down the hill, Lady Fuyumi and her husband descending after you, around a copse of trees to a patch of grass where the exhibit had been erected. There were roughly twenty statues in various states of deterioration, all equipped with their own carved plaques, explaining their stories and origins.
They had been laid out along a winding path that looped back on itself several times, leading the wanderer in a meandering but nevertheless purposeful course. The exhibition had clearly been laid out to tell some sort of story, but uneducated in the arts, you could not guess it.
Lord Shouto led you along the path, sidestepping families and chaperoned couples. You caught a few envious stares as visitors clocked Lord Shouto at your side, and you clutched his arm tighter in apprehension.
You also found very quickly that you had been correct: Lord Shouto was of a kind with the statues. Offensively, he was perhaps even more lovely than they were. The smooth marble of their skin, the strong cords of their fingers and throats, the sleek line of their muscle–it was all deeply reminiscent of Lord Shouto’s dashing figure–but even their features could not quite match his careful, clever beauty.
You resisted the urge to press your fingers harder against his bicep, as if to affirm he truly was a flesh-and-blood man beneath your fingers.
Lord Shouto led you over to the first statue, seeming to carve a path through the crowds like a blade. It was a marble carving of two sleeping, fat-cheeked children with wild curls, reclining over an unrefined hunk of the same stone. Little wings were folded across their backs, the feathers drooping down the other side of the stone. One of them was larger than the other, and looked to be swelling even larger–or maybe he was just taking a breath.
Lord Shouto bent over the inscription, some of which–obnoxiously–was in Greek. He flashed you something that might have been termed a smirk on anyone else before reading: “Eros, Greek god of love,” Lord Shouto gestured to the strange, swelling child. “And his brother Anteros, the god of mutual love.”
“Both sons of Aphrodite. In the company of Anteros, his brother Eros was said to grow larger. But if Anteros was away, Eros shrank back to his usual, smaller size. It is assumed to be a commentary on the strengthening of love by having one’s love returned,” Lord Shouto’s eyes flickered almost pointedly in your direction again.
You fought down a flush, appalled with your own sudden shyness. You might have liked Lord Shouto well enough, but love—love–-you did not dare. No matter how handsome or well-trained or attentive and kind Lord Shouto was.
It would be inappropriate of you to imagine any sort of feeling like that toward him.
You quickly schooled your features into a mask of disbelief. “You’ve made that up,” you accused him.
Lord Shouto blinked, a white eyebrow raising.
“Just because I can’t read Greek,” you sniffed at him. “Taking advantage of an innocent lady’s trust. Clearly it’s a commentary on infantile balloon disease.”
Both of Lord Shouto’s eyebrows rose into his hairline and his features went very still, as though he was suppressing a laugh.
“Balloon disease,” he repeated in a tone so bland and polite he might have been speaking to the king.
You flapped a hand at him. “I know a ballooning child when I see one.”
Lord Shouto hid his face in his sleeve, affecting a sudden cough, but you spied the tiny smile on his mouth when he looked at you again.
“Now be accurate or I’ll insist on a new guide,” you told him, not giving him any time to recover, and gestured him onto the next sculpture.
Lord Shouto cast you a long, searching look, as though he knew exactly what you’d just done to avoid a conversation on romance. But he offered you his arm again, and dutifully led you along.
Over the course of the next few hours, you slowly walked the course of the exhibition, Lady Fuyumi and her husband training behind you at a careful distance. Lord Shouto translated all the bits of the inscriptions in Greek, which you either accepted or discarded on a whim. He also helped supply some of the myths and stories the statues drew on, filling in the gaps in your knowledge neatly and expertly. You alternately spoke of the sculptures and the novels he’d read, and the level of careful attention he paid to both warmed you.
You liked the low, soft murmur of his voice as he explained things to you, and occasionally found yourself half-listening, getting lost in the shape of the syllables in his mouth, the deep richness of his tone.
You could imagine a thousand afternoons like this, clambering around some Greek ruins with Lord Shouto, listening to him patiently translate, watching him turn back to you with that small sliver of a smile whenever you added something ridiculous.
Eventually the two of you came to a statue in particularly good shape, a large man with a neat marble beard and a sly look in his eye.
“Dolos, the god of deception,” Lord Shouto told you, in a tone so light and devoid of any inflection that it sent a strange shiver up your spine.
You peered closer at his features, the shrewd fix of his mouth, his wiry curls, the sightless stare of his marble eyes. The god of deception–how utterly fitting that you should meet him here.
When you turned, Lord Shouto was looking at you strangely, those heterochromatic eyes glittering down at you.
“It’s…interesting,” you said, balking under his close inspection. “That they should have a god honoring such a thing.”
Lord Shouto’s mouth quirked. “Would you like to hear the inscription?”
You nodded, interested.
Lord Shouto read carefully, “Dolos was apprentice to the potter Prometheus, who had used all his skill to sculpt the form of Aletheia, the embodiment of Truth. As he was working, Prometheus was summoned away, leaving Dolos in charge of his workshop. Dolos used his time to copy Aletheia, completing a figure exactly like her, the same size and with identical features.”
You made sure to pay close attention this time, trying not to get too lost again in the smoothness of his voice.
“When he had almost completed her, he ran out of clay to use at her feet. When Prometheus returned, Dolos quickly sat down in his seat, shivering in fear–but Prometheus was amazed at the similarity of the two statues. He puth both in the kiln and infused both with life. But only Aletheia was able to walk, while her copy stayed stuck in her tracks, footless. It is like the saying a lie has no legs to stand on–something that is false can start successfully, but you cannot get away with it.”
A shiver really did crawl down your spine, then. “He created a copy,” you breathed, disliking the parallels between your own situation and the story. A lie has no legs to stand on–-you cannot get away with it.
But you had always known that. Your impersonation of Camie was always going to be discovered–you wondered if Lord Shouto would look back on this moment and see the twisted irony of it.
You hated to wonder how he would think of you, when all of this was through.
Any thought of wandering Greek ruins with Lord Shouto immediately vanished, and you drew in on yourself, remembering that your future only held the halls of a different home not your own, tucked away in the country where you would never see Shouto again.
If you were quiet for the rest of your interlude, Lord Shouto seemed to take it in stride, guiding you around the remaining statues and murmuring their inscriptions to you in his hypnotically low tone.
Eventually, Lady Fuyumi reminded Shouto that he had to dress for dinner–some invite higher in society than the Utsushimi family merited–and ushered you back to the carriage to deliver you home.
You followed obediently, your thoughts racing ahead through the end of the season, through the limited time you had left with Lord Shouto. This would all have to end so soon.
You didn’t know whether you should redouble your efforts to match him with Caroline, to end things sooner, or drag things out as long as possible, to carry the memory of this season with you forever.
You made polite conversation on the way home, avoiding Lord Shouto’s careful scrutiny, and chirped a sincere thank you as you approached the Utsushimi’s home.
It was only as Lord Shouto handed you down from the carriage at the Utsushimi’s front door that you truly realized the horribly romantic bent of your thoughts, the truth of your outing that you had been resisting the entire afternoon.
That you had liked your time with Lord Shouto, and that you wanted more of it–the one thing you could never, ever truly have.

no one makes a long complex au like someone procrastinating on writing thousands of words in final papers i guess!! so here's some concept art for an mha star wars au i've been thinking up
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is like such a new au and still in progress but i have a solid story idea and some designs for a lot of the characters. i love star wars and mha so so much so mixing the two together was honestly inevitable. lore dump about these characters below the cut because it's really long and lowkey really star wars lore heavy LOL. if anyone has questions i'm happy to answer but like a true star wars fan i'm a hater and there's a lot of things i don't know
The galaxy is deep into the Paranormal Liberation War (which is basically a clone wars equivalent for this au). As the war becomes more and more widespread, the isolated planet of Mandalore starts to come under threat as the mysterious All For One realizes he can exploit the current political turmoil on Mandalore for this own gain. He allies with an elusive figured named Overhaul, the leader of the terrorist group Death Watch that seeks to return Mandalore to the old ways.
Enter Shinsou and Aizawa. The pair are both members of the Death Watch, but once the war reaches Mandalore and Overhaul stages his takeover, they realize that this isn't what they want. The pair remain members of the Death Watch, but they have their own motives. While most in the system believe that the heir to Mandalore was executed during the takeover, Shinsou and Aizawa aren't quite sure. Their goal is to find Monoma Neito, the heir to the throne of Mandalore and potentially their only hope at restoring peace to the planet. But before they're able to put their plan in motion, civil war explodes on Mandalore between the PLF backed Death Watch and a Republic backed fighting force led by another group of Mandalorians vying for power on the planet. During this battle, Shinsou and Aizawa face down Overhaul and manage to escape, but not unscathed. Aizawa lost his eye and his leg, and Shinsou lost a few of the fingers on his left hand. The pair go into hiding, desperately hopping from planet to planet and searching for real medical attention. Eventually they land on Pantora and meet Uraraka Ochako, a Jedi girl around Shinsou's age (which would be like 15/16 ish) who escaped Order 66 and started running a smuggling operation on Pantora that focuses on relocating enemies of the Empire to new places around the galaxy. Uraraka recently reunited with two of her closest friends from before Order 66, Midoriya Izuku and Todoroki Shouto. Together, the group forms a little rebel cell that eventually attracts the attention of a high ranking official on Coruscant, Admiral Tsukauchi. He recruits the team into his budding rebellion against the Empire.
Fast forwards to about ten years after Order 66 went out (so that makes shinsou and the other characters his age about 25/26 now). The Rebellion is still very small and relatively unorganized and less focused on fighting and more focused on other initiatives (think middle of rebels era rebellion). Shinsou managed to get permission to go to Concord Dawn and scope out what's happening in the Mandalore system, where he runs into the long lost heir to the throne, Monoma Neito. But Monoma isn't alone. With him is a teenage girl named Eri that Shinsou and Aizawa helped free from Overhaul's control years ago. She got adopted by the royal family and escaped with Monoma in the aftermath of the Imperial takeover. After some convincing, Shinsou manages to get Monoma and Eri to come with him and meet Aizawa and hopes they can put their plan to free Mandalore in motion sooner rather than later.
However, things get complicated when Monoma finds out that Shinsou has the Darksaber. Shinsou didn't find it on purpose, in fact he'd probably get rid of it if he didn't know how important finding it was to his people. Monoma wants Shinsou to use the Darksaber to unite Mandalore. The person who posesses the Darksaber has a lot of sway with all Mandalorians, but especially the ones in House Chisaki, or the clans that make up the Death Watch since the sword originally belonged to a member of their house (think the role House Vizsla plays in Star Wars. They're the ones in charge but there's other clans within the house, like how Clan Wren is within House Vizsla). If Shinsou were to return to Mandalore with the Darksaber, he could unite all the clans against the Empire and give them a fighting chance. But Shinsou doesn't want the responsibility, instead wanting to stand back and be a knight in (somewhat) shining armor instead of the new leader of Mandalore.
Monoma and Eri have been on the run since the fall of Mandalore. They hopped from planet to planet to avoid detection since the Empire has a hit out for them since they're the next in line for Mandalore and finding them is the fastest way to get stronger control over the population. Monoma wants to go back to Mandalore and free his people, but he doesn't know if he's capable of the acts required. He was raised to rule Mandalore and the surrounding planets, but he was also raised in the pacifist ideas his mother had and he wants to continue them. He's having like a really strong ideological crisis that Shinsou thinks is stupid at first but then understands because character growth and friendship and falling in love. Monoma wants to force the responsibility of saving Mandalore onto Shinsou and Aizawa, but he also knows he needs to play a role despite the fact it might not be the one he originally wanted it to be. He has some other goals too, like finding his friends Kendo and Tetsutetsu (and the rest of the 1-B students) where they're scattered throughout the galaxy.
Throughout all of this craziness in their story, there's also a lot of other stuff going on with the Rebellion and the Empire and the fact the two of them are getting A LOT closer to each other than either of them ever wanted to.
Shinsou's entire story throughout the AU is reckoning with the fact he is the one who must unite Mandalore, not Monoma. Monoma's story is related to somewhat accepting he can't force Shinsou to have this responsibility because subconsiously he doesn't want it either. There's a lot of other details and stuff going on that has to do with personal character arcs and Mandalorian politics and uh...the Rebellion and the Empire, but this is the gist of it. okay that's all for this info dump. more lore dumps to come and we'll see if the fic itself happens or just ends up being a series of drawings.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Five hundred and eighty days. That’s how long Toya Todoroki had been friends with Keigo Takami. The last two hundred and something of those days, they’d been dating in secret. Finally, Toya’s ready.
Keigo has been overwhelmingly patient, respecting even the most strict of Toya’s boundaries. Keigo had plenty of experience…Toya had next to none…primarily because he refused to allow himself to be vulnerable…but also because he tended to push away any sort of romantic relationship in the past. Keigo was different. Their connection was just…different. Toya couldn’t articulate it properly any other way. He was just simply different. There was no pressure. No unnecessary dramatics. No guilting. Keigo was willing to go at whatever pace Toya felt most comfortable. They didn’t go past making out until three months in, and it was still a lot to get used to. No one had ever touched him in this way before. No one had ever seen Toya in an intimate light before. No one had ever made him feel so fucking alive.
He’d be lying to himself if he said it all came so easy. With his parents’ rocky relationship, Toya never had any real role models in the romance department…or even intimacy and love at the bare minimum. Keigo practically introduced him to another world. A world that Toya thought he’d never be a part of…that he didn’t deserve to be a part of. Before Kei, his life was his work… a social worker at the Musutafu Child Safety Services Agency, getting kids out of situations that they should never find themselves in. Since he couldn’t be a hero, this was the option that made the most sense. Funny enough, now he’s dating the Number Two Pro Hero of Japan…albeit in secret. His whole family, other than his sister, was still unaware that he had a partner; he shivered at how his Dad would react. Thus, Hawks only ever snuck over to Toya’s apartment, managing to outwit the press and the paparazzi. But…for tonight…Hawks invited Toya over to his place. After spending months exploring one another’s bodies, Toya told Hawks he was ready to have sex. Not blowing each other. Not jacking each other off. Sex sex. Or, at least, that’s how he embarrassingly phrased it over the phone to Toya’s own chagrin. Hawks never seemed to acknowledge his awkward way of explaining things. He just simply smiled and nodded without a care in the world.
Part of Toya wonders if this whole thing is a fluke. Some stunt with Endeavor’s eldest rebel who takes Quirk meds so he doesn’t turn himself to ashes in some PR turn. But…if that were true…he wouldn’t have kept Toya’s promise to keep their relationship out of the public eye. It’s been long enough. Toya’s doubtless…and hopelessly down bad. He’d sell his soul for the Pro if he asked at this point…though he knows he’d never put him in that position. They were planning on going public soon. After all, Toya was introducing him to his parents in a week.
Toya stands in front of his steamy bathroom mirror with a towel wrapped around his waist and a toothbrush in his mouth, water still dripping from his hair. He’s so nervous that he can’t even tell anymore if he’s shaking or not. The phone call that started all this had been relatively short. It took Toya all week to finally decide he was ready; he’d been on the edge about it, sleeping on it, talking to himself in the mirror to psych himself up for the conversation…and, of course, Keigo brought up a point that he honestly hadn’t considered.
Earlier.
“So…uh…I hate to phrase it like this, T…but… how do you wanna do it?”
“What do you mean?”
Awkward silence.
“Kei? You still there?”
“Who is fucking who?” Keigo blurts, and Toya blushes beet red.
“Uh-I-I don’t care really,” He stutters, running all his words together, and he can practically feel Keigo’s eyes narrowing in his tone.
“T…this is your first time. Don’t bullshit me,” Keigo says flatly before sighing, “I just want to make you as comfortable as possible. Personally, I don’t have a preference.”
‘Does that mean he’s done both?’ Toya’s mind wanders for a bit before he vigorously shakes his head. He has a bad habit of comparing himself to Keigo’s past lovers…even though, truthfully, he has no idea who they were.
“We still don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. Please, don’t feel pressured, babe. You can always change your mind,” Keigo reassures through the phone. Toya takes a deep breath.
“Could…could I bottom?”
The flight to Kyushu by plane was about two hours, but Hawks had apparently pulled some strings, so much so that Toya had a fucking limo pick him up. Toya’s heart is practically beating out of his chest. He’d worn his nicest black button-up that he could find with slacks and the shoes he normally wore to the office, but something in his mind was still nagging. What if he did something wrong? What if Keigo suddenly changed his mind? He squeezes his eyes shut tightly, trying to divert his attention from his anxious thoughts. It’s just sex. It shouldn’t be so complicated. Right?
The car slows to a stop, and Toya’s heart skips a beat. He thanks the driver as he steps out, and, suddenly, he’s face-to-face with Hawks’ impressive Hero Agency. He looks around, his mouth suddenly dry, but little to no one seems to be out this late. Granted, it’s eight o’clock in the evening on a Sunday. Part of him was worried Hawks’ fans would be swarming the front, but there’s only a few people going about their business up and down the sidewalks. Toya runs a hand through his snow-white hair as he steps forward and walks in the front door.
Instantly, the lobby atmosphere changes on a dime. It’s flocking with sidekicks and interns shuffling papers and going over schedules, but, when Toya walks in, the door closing behind him, all eyes are suddenly turned in his direction. Toya blinks, internally panicking.
“Endeavor’s son is the reason for the NDA?” One of the sidekicks whispers within earshot, and a chill runs down Toya’s spine.
‘He had his sidekicks sign an NDA?’
The white-haired man gulps as he walks toward the golden elevator that Kei told him to use, feeling extremely uncomfortable under the starry-eyed stares. He steps into the elevator with legs that feel like jelly before he presses the button for the top floor. The doors close, and faint Taylor Swift plays over the speakers, putting Toya at ease as he shakes his head and laughs to himself.
Ding!
Toya straightens up as the elevator comes to a stop, and the doors open, revealing a small hallway with a simple blue door at the end.
“Okay…okay…I can do this,” Toya mutters under his breath as he strides toward the door. He inhales sharply before raising his fist to knock. Before he can make contact, the door swings open.
“ There’s my handsome boyfriend,” Keigo sings sweetly, cupping Toya’s cheek with his hand and wrapping the other around his waist. Before Toya can blink, Keigo’s sweet lips are pressing against his, and he melts into the familiar embrace. The kiss is innocent but deep and full of passion. It ends almost as quickly as it began. Keigo pulls back, looking his boyfriend up and down with a soft, genuine smile.
“You look nice,” He beams, gesturing to Toya’s outfit. Toya takes in the scene before him. Keigo isn’t dressed up like he is…not by a longshot. He’s wearing gray sweatpants that leave little to the imagination and a black compression T-shirt that shows off every rippling curve of his muscles… so many muscles.
Toya tries to tear his eyes away from his lover’s bulging biceps as he puts his hands on his hips, subtly flexing them, but his attention is brought elsewhere when the scent of cinnamon and roses reaches his nose. Keigo steps to the side, moving his broad crimson wings out of the way and folding them inward. A soft gasp leaves Toya’s lips. His penthouse is incredible. There’s a crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling above a glass table with a red velvet couch. The floors are marble, and the walls are painted a very pale sky blue. Several small caramel-colored candles sit on the table, tiny wisps of flame burning brightly and making the sweet scents sift throughout the room. The lights are dimmed, shrouding the darkened penthouse in a soft amber hue mixing with the flamelight. Toya’s heart stutters in his chest when he sees the trail of rose petals behind Keigo, leading down the hallway…most certainly to the Pro Hero’s bedroom.
“Shall we?” Keigo smirks slyly, flashing his brilliant white teeth as he holds his arm out for Toya. Sweat beads on the back of Toya’s neck as he tentatively clutches Keigo’s arm, kicking his shoes off at the door, and the Pro leads him down the hallway.
“So…what…how is this gonna go?” Toya stumbles over his words, his heart pounding so hard against his ribcage that he’s worried it might fracture. Keigo grins, his golden eyes sparkling in the dimmed light as they stop in front of his closed bedroom door.
“However you want it to. I figured we’d just snuggle up and watch that pirate show you won’t stop talking about,” Keigo offers calmly, giving him a chaste kiss on his cheek.
“ Our Flag Means Death ? That’s all you wanna do? Watch that?” Toya mutters absentmindedly, staring blankly at his partner. Keigo shrugs as he puts his hand on the doorknob, and Toya blurts:
“Aren’t we fucking tonight?”
Keigo pauses. “Let’s just see where things go. I’ll let you tell me what you’re ready for when you’re ready for it.”
“I thought that’s what my phone call to you was for,” Toya grumbles.
“T…It’s your first time. I don’t see any need to rush into anything. I want this to be good for you, okay?” Keigo sighs as he pushes the door open. Toya’s never seen Keigo’s bedroom. Not in its entirety at least. He’s seen glimpses through the pictures Kei has sent him before, but it’s absolutely incredible. The bed is huge ; probably to accommodate Hawks’ wings when they’re fully spread. It’s at least a California King with a fluffy silver comforter that looks so delicately smooth and soft. The pillows are the same shade as Kei’s feathers, neatly arranged in a U shape angling out from the dark mahogany headboard, almost like a nest. An enormous flat-screen TV hangs on the wall opposite the bed. The room smells just as divine as the rest of the penthouse, and the lighting is soft and romantic. Toya’s palms feel overwhelmingly clammy as he walks past Kei, who closes the door behind them.
“OH MY GOD!”
“OH MY GOD!”
“THAT WAS SO GOOD!”
“HOW LONG UNTIL THE NEXT EPISODE???”
“Kei, you haven’t even seen season one,” Toya laughs as he closes out of episode three of season two.
“I DON’T CARE! THAT WAS SO GOOD!” Keigo Takami squeals, wings fluttering as he holds his hands against his cheeks. Toya can’t help but feel warmth bloom in his chest when he sees the sparkles in his lover’s eyes. Time seems to slow for a few minutes, and the room is silent save for the sound of their breathing.
“Well…,” Toya mumbles, voice lilting off into a faded whisper as he interlocks his fingers with Hawks’. “What do we do now?”
The Pro Hero’s smile turns from ecstatic to a sly smirk, and he squeezes his partner’s hand. Hawks climbs on top of Toya, looming over him and placing his hands on either side of his head, palms flat against the headboard. Toya feels his heart skip a beat, and then, Kei is kissing him. It’s achingly intentional, their lips fitting together like a perfect puzzle piece. Toya’s eyelids flutter shut, and he feels Keigo’s feathers caress the sides of his face, cupping it the same way his hand would. It tickles slightly, but the soft vanes feel tender and intimate on his skin. Toya hums softly in satisfaction, and he shudders when Keigo’s tongue gently prods against his lip. He opens his mouth enough for Keigo to French kiss him, and a groan rumbles from his throat as their tongues teasingly play with one another. His hands reach up to run through Kei’s blonde locks, combing through the tangles with ease and silently begging for more passion.
“I love you,” Keigo whispers, pulling back just enough to get his words out before sloppily connecting their lips once again in a heated kiss.
“I love you, too,” Toya echoes just as passionately between hasty lip locks. He feels Keigo shifting in the bed, putting his legs on the outside of Toya’s and slightly sitting on Toya’s thighs. A weak moan muffles in Toya’s throat through the intense kisses, and he feels lust stirring deep within. Finally, Hawks pulls back, a string of saliva still linking their lips before he practically pounces, sinking his teeth into the side of Toya’s neck.
“ Fuck ,” Toya gasps, his voice low and raspy as he cranes his neck for Keigo to get a better angle. His breath staggers when he feels Keigo’s hands at his chest, frantically unbuttoning his shirt until he’s fully exposed. Suddenly, warm calloused hands are massaging his pecs, and Toya has to stop himself from moaning like a porn star at the unexpected touch. Keigo sucks on his collarbone, tongue tracing against pale flesh as he firmly rubs slow circles on his lover’s chest. He thumbs at Toya’s nipples, and the white-haired man practically dissolves.
“ Kei ,” Toya moans, flexing into the touch. Keigo’s lips slowly travel down his neck, past his collarbone, between his pecs, and Toya shivers in pleasure. Keigo’s tongue drags across his skin, giving Toya goosebumps. Toya sighs in an uncharacteristically high-pitched whimper as Hawks kisses his body, traveling lower past his ribs and down his stomach. Toya’s uncomfortably hard in his pants now, and his face turns beet red when Keigo shifts so his face is level with his clothed erection.
“Let’s both get comfortable now, shall we?” Keigo quips with a sultry grin, his eyes devilishly glinting as he rolls to the side and starts stripping. Immediately, Toya shrugs off his unbuttoned shirt and starts fumbling with his belt. Within a few moments, they’re both completely naked on Keigo’s bed.
“Where was I?” Keigo hums flirtatiously as he puts his hands on Toya’s knees, spreading his legs as he looms over him. Toya gulps, his eyes glued to Hawks’ golden gaze as the Pro Hero leans down, kissing his waist and traveling closer to the mostly-shaved white happy trail leading to Toya’s stiff, leaking cock. A flurry of red feathers separates from Hawks’ impressive wings, rummaging in the nearby nightstand before zipping back with a bottle of lube. Toya’s cock twitches at the sight.
“We’re gonna go nice and slow…okay? We’ll only do your comfort level. The second and I mean the second you feel too uncomfortable or painful or have any second thoughts, let me know…and I’ll stop everything. We’ll go at your pace, okay?” Keigo mumbles as he tenderly kisses Toya’s tip, making him whimper and nod vigorously as the Pro starts coating his fingers in lube.
“I’m gonna try to work you open more than usual so it won’t hurt as bad. It’s your first time…so it might hurt a bit. Is that okay?”
“Please,” Toya begs, almost embarrassed at the desperation in his words. Delicately, Keigo reaches between Toya’s spread legs, rubbing slow circles against the tight ring of muscle. Toya closes his eyes, groaning as he lets his head fall back into the pillow, focusing on the feeling of his boyfriend’s touch. He gasps, back arching slightly when he feels the first finger slip in.
“Relax, baby,” Keigo croons as he carefully massages his insides, curling his finger just enough for Toya to feel it.
“ Mmmmngh~Kei~ ,” He sighs, breath coming out heated as his heart pounds in his chest. Keigo feels the tissue give, prompting him to slip another finger in. Before long, he has him stretched out to four fingers.
“Ohhh~ Keigo ~,” Touya moans loud and long, eyelids fluttering.
“You alright, T?” Keigo checks in, pupils practically swallowing his irises as he looks up at the dumbstruck look of ecstasy on his lover’s face.
“ Ah~! Ah-eh-ah-ohhh, fuck, ” Toya wails in response, rocking his hips against Keigo’s fingers in an attempt to get even deeper stimulation. Kei’s done this before, but not four fingers. The stretch feels good …even though it probably shouldn’t. There is a dull pain, but there’s so much lube that it’s nothing compared to the pleasure. Toya’s completely lost, especially when Hawks intentionally taps at his prostate every so often.
“You’re doing so good, baby. Just a little while longer…and then I’m gonna fuck you,” Keigo sighs, getting off on seeing his boyfriend a moaning mess…all because of him. His own cock pulses between his legs, but Kei is surprisingly patient…at least when it comes to this.
“Fuck me, Kei… pleeeease, oh , god ,” Toya begs, tongue lolling out of his mouth as he practically drools. Carnal need stirs in Keigo’s gut, and he tenderly slips his fingers out. Toya gasps at the empty feeling, heart stuttering and dropping, but Hawks quickly starts lubing up his cock, ready to fill him up even more. Tears prick at Toya’s eyes as his emotions start going into overdrive; he needs Keigo.
“It’s alright, baby. You just relax,” The Pro says calmly, grunting as he slowly starts pressing into his lover. Toya’s eyes go wide, jaw dropping and hitching on a wordless scream as he’s stretched. Keigo’s a little bigger than what he’s used to…enough for him to really notice. Hawks’ eyes soften, and his breathy sighs are peppered with quiet moans as he pushes all the way inside.
“I’m gonna leave it in for a bit, and you tell me when you’re ready for me to move. Your body’s not used to it yet. I want it to hurt as little as possible,” Keigo murmurs.
“Y-you don’t have to explain everything,” Toya cracks a half-hearted smile as he tries to focus on his own breathing. The pain is more noticeable with this than with his fingers. Minutes feel like hours to Toya, but, eventually, his body gets used to the feeling. He nods, and Keigo begins to rock his hips. The shock of pleasure is like lightning.
“ Fuck , you’re tight,” Keigo mutters harshly under his breath, keeping a steady, deliberate pace. He’s so turned on, he could come at any moment, but he’s trying to get Toya to come first.
“Don’t stop! Don’t stop !” Toya cries out, hands turning to fists in the sheets. Keigo tightly grips Toya’s shoulders, rutting up into his guts in a steady rhythm. One of his longer and more pliable feathers parts from his wings, flexibly wrapping around Toya’s throbbing cock. Toya screams, shocking himself at the intense pleasure surging through his veins as Keigo indirectly jerks him off while fucking every thought out of his head.
“That’s it. That’s my good boy; lemme hear how much you’re enjoying this,” Hawks demands, his voice rough but full of devotion.
“Ohhhh… soooo goooood ,” The white-haired man groans, and Keigo’s feathers stand on end. Every exhale is a horny moan.
“Gonna come soon,” Keigo rasps in warning, and Toya finally lifts his head to lock eyes with Keigo.
“Come inside me- fuck -come inside me, please !” Toya stutters, voice pitching higher and higher and getting louder and louder with every thrust. His words alone are enough to send the Pro over the edge, and he comes with a strangled gasp as he empties into his lover. Frantically, the feather squeezes Toya’s cock in just the right ways, and, within seconds, he’s gushing all over it. Hawks’ name is on his lips as the last of his seed drips onto the feather, which limply releases its grip and flops onto the bed beside them. Without warning, Toya reaches up, wrapping his arms around Keigo’s neck and passionately kissing him, harsh breath hissing out of his nose. Keigo kisses him back, hums of satisfaction rumbling in their throats as they come down from their highs.
“That might’ve been the strongest orgasm you’ve ever given me,” Toya laughs sheepishly as he pulls away, a purely blissed-out expression spreading across his face.
“You’re welcome…now…I’ve gotta pull out. Just breathe,” Keigo hushes, gently cupping the side of Toya’s face in an attempt to keep him grounded. Toya winces at the sensation, and, when they finally separate, it feels like a part of him is missing. A quiet gasp leaves his lips, and more tears prick at his eyes again.
“Shhhh. Shhhh, I’m right here, love,” Keigo hushes, pecking him on the cheek before wrapping him up in his arms and crimson wings.
“It hurts,” Toya whimpers, curling up into the fetal position and twitching at the soreness between his legs.
“I know, baby. It’ll feel better when you’re used to it,” Keigo murmurs reassuringly, squeezing him tightly as he presses loving kisses to his sweaty forehead. “What do you say we get in the shower and then go to bed, hmm?” He offers, and Toya thinks it over before nodding wordlessly.
“Better?” Hawks chuckles as he holds his boyfriend under clean silk sheets, running his hands through his damp hair.
“Mhm,” Toya mumbles, nuzzling into Kei’s bare chest. “Tired.”
“Your first time was that exhausting?” Kei sneers cheekily, and Toya grumbles something sarcastic under his breath.
“I love you, too,” Hawks snickers as he lets his eyelids flutter shut.
Momo rewrite anon here!
This is techinally consider to be the Momo Rewrite universe thing. I know awhile back the MHA critical community gathered to talk about OCs, I was too shy to saying, but I have an idea for an OC. I don't have a name for her, but I gave her the place holder name for her is Yukiya some translates of her name are: snow, good fortune, and happiness. She's the twin sister of Shoto. She has Rei's white hair, and Endeavor's eyes. (The fact she has any resemblance to her father pisses her off.) Yukiya was the one kid who rebelled against her father, and even her mother a lot.
Yukiya responded with anger towards what was happening. She was very local about her distaste for the sexism her father had towards her older sister, her mom, and herself. Yukiya was also born quirkless, which means her father paid even LESS attention to her, and consider her to be even less of a failure. Which she interlized and always feels the need to prove she can be just as good with people that have quirks. She also has Autism. She stims via flapping her hands, rocking back and forth, and considering Shoto struggles with social cues, she definitely does. She's very blunt, honest, and assured of herself. In Japanese society, that is something that is... not encouraged and her mom would have to often apologize to other people, and she comes across as mean, but totally doesn't mean to her. She needs concise, straight-to-the-point directions and communication. She really fucking hates the whole "you're suppose to know my intent via my body language and the aura of the room", because that IS a thing going on with Japan. She masks super hard to the point she gets burn outs. She also wants to be prove she's as capable as her neurotypical peers as well. SO. When Yukiya reaches the age of 11, she runs away from home. She just couldn't take it anymore and lives on the streets. Here, she falls into the vigilante team and is taken in by this place called The Underground. (In my AU, it's where a bunch of people who don't fit into hero society or Japanese society here dwell, and the kids are taken care of.) She's taught mechanics and is quite good at it. During the ages of 15-16, she becomes this steampunk vigilante, and often goes out doing things. Which the adults disapprove bc she's a teenager. I also have an idea of Bakugo having a sister who's a villain. Let me know what you all think! So her overall struggles is her learning to trust people and put down those walls, opening up, saying sorry, and learning how to be a kid again because she's jaded by the world at age 15-16. (Also if anyone is wondering, yes, I'm Autistic.)
All good ideas! The idea of Shoto having a quirkless twin sister opens up a lot of plot points. A good way to explore the discrimination and power differentials within both the Todorokis and MHA. Also I don't know if you knew this but Fuyumi actually has Endeavor's eyes in the manga that the anime changed to Rei's eyes.
I have my own Todoroki OC, Rin who's Rei's estranged younger sister and quirkless. Well, she's technically not a Todoroki, but you get the idea. She indirectly prevents Rei from burning Shoto and makes it her mission to save her sister and niblings.
I don't dabble with OCs that much, but MHA has so many options of exploration that OCs are actually a good way to connect with the story
Bnha gem au:
On a scale from 1 to 10:
How stable are the fusions?
Oh, good one!
For "not making this post miles long" purposes let's just make the Deku Squad.
The rates are the stability of the fusion. If you guys want to suggest names feel free to do so. Most of the names I picked are just for the meme.
Iida & Uraraka (Tenko): The responsible but fun friend. Can go from super nice to super scary in a second. You should listen to them, they know better. 10/10 team mom
Asui & Uraraka (Best Girl, that’s it, that's her name, you can thank Baku Squad for that): Friendly, pretty, most adorable fusion you'll ever met? Check. Also the most salty? Definitely. Don't disrespect her or she will destroy your whole career with just a few words. Baku Squad absolutely adores her and she will often hang out with them much for Bakugo's displeasure. 10/10 Best. Girl.
Midoriya & Todoroki (Shouku): Loves being himself and will often fuse just to get a break from the real world. Absolutely war machine, he’s kind but don't test his patience. 9/10 because ✨️trauma✨️
Todoroki & Uraraka (Just a Friend, yes thats their name, again, thanks Baku Squad): Deku's babysitter. Fuse when Deku is being a stubborn block head and isolating himself for no reason. They're the only one that can get through him and convince him to stop, either because they're too sweet, and Deku can't say no to them or because they can be more stubborn than him, and THEN Deku can't say no to them. 8/10 Deku's fan club's president
Iida & Todoroki (Bruce Wayne, fr they should stop letting Denki name they're fusions): Knight in shining armor. What a gentleman, best boy BEST MAN. That's it, that's him. Also a sociopath that fantasies about killing people who hurt his loved ones I guess but STILL. 7/10 BATMAN
Midoriya & Asui (Emerald, this one was Uraraka's Idea): I head somewhere that some frogs can actually change their genders, and since in this AU they are "gems", Emerald identify as both she/he. Dry sarcastic humor. No one ever knows if he's being serious or not. Uraraka is her favorite person. 7/10 Green
Asui & Iida: Never fused. Probably won't ever either. But would probably be a 7/10
Uraraka & Midoriya (Izocha, I can't joke-name them. They're too pure): Caring and sweet, Izocha will give you cavities if you're not careful. Master of close combat, she will wreck your ass if you hurt her friends. Only fuses in danger situations otherwise is a blushing mess. Why walk? Float. 6/10 *blushes and stutters*
Iida & Midoriya (Sonic, I need REAL NAMES): Responsible in the front; Rebel in the back. Can spend hours on the same subject. Smart-ass, kind of annoying at times. Will kill for their friends if necessary... 5/10 GOTTA GO FAST
Asui & Todoroki (not rated): The first time was also the last they fused because of Tsuyu's problem with cold, so she (the fusion) just slept the whole time. Because of that they don't know anything about her, not even her name. ??/10
Bonus:
Yaoyorozu & Todoroki (IDK, you choose. I'm tired): Absolutely mad Queen. Started as a he, but as they felt more confident change to she. Sugar mommy, will pay for everything, where does she get the money? No one knows! Was a 5/10 at first but as both of them got more comfortable changed to a 9/10.
Iida & Yaoyorozu (President): The Líder of the group. Always come up with the best plans. Even Bakugou listen and respects them. Fuses pretty frequently compared to the others. 10.000/10 incredibly difficult to make them lose it.
More thoughts on the Rebel!Todoroki AU
I'm now actively thinking on this. Why.
My main thought starting this line of thinking is about how none of the Todoroki's ever blow the whistle on Endeavour in canon; while some of it (a lot of it, unfortunately, knowing Hori) is probably about not wanting to ruin his life, since they've secretly loved him all this time or whatever, it's probably also based in a few more practical facts: not wanting themselves to get dragged into the mud, wanting not to drag their mother into the mud, and an Endeavor-born lack of faith in heroic accountability which is completely canon, to the point where they may have gotten assassinated if they made too big a stink about it. While those same practical motivations are still there, so no blatant call outs of what he did, in this AU there is far less mercy in how they discuss Endeavour to outsiders.
Fuyumi, here, is still rather soft spoken, and when she talks to reporters, she always leaves them with a positive impression, until they review what she actually said, and not how she said it, and they realize she never once actually referred to Endeavour as her father, or as someone related to her, or in any sort of relaxed way indicating that they're family; it's just 'Endeavour, Endeavour', over and over again, always carefully proper in how she refers to him by his hero name, which is de facto his job title.
Moreover, they then realize she never says anything nice about him; hell, she barely talks about him at all! Summed up, she basically says that, 'Yes, I have heard about a hero named Endeavour' and that 'Yes, I have heard he has done (this newsworthy thing); I heard about it on the news just yesterday'.
It leaves every interview she gives ultimately unusable for how utterly empty and lifeless they all are.
Natsuo, meanwhile, is less subtle. And by less subtle, I mean he has one line about Endeavour he gives to anyone who asks him, every time he's asked about him: "Every day I wake up I pray he trips over a banana and dies."
Nothing else. He says that one line, says bye, and walks off, and has done this for years. He's a cryptid like figure for those that pay attention to this kind of thing, and in the hero forums more focused on the celebrity end they have long running debates on if he actually means that, or if this entire thing is this strange, elaborate joke he's been running on anyone who pays attention to him; he never goes into any other detail, and every other Todoroki refuses to comment on this, even Endeavour (if for different reasons than his children).
Rei... the thing is with Rei is her life is kinda utterly destroyed. Natsuo and Fuyumi care about things like their reputations, if they'll be believed, and her reputation, but Rei herself? Nah, she's gone through eight cycles of the stages of grief while she's been trapped in the psych ward, and Rei no longer cares about those petty things; at this point in her life? Rei wants one thing, and one thing only:
To kill Endeavour with her own hands.
And since she decided that, she started acting better, to get good evaluations and to get her husband to visit her as she gets 'cured'; she lies and lies and lies to every therapist about whatever they want to hear, she acts calm and sensible and buries all her negative feelings deep down inside her, while carefully practicing small, but controlled uses of her Quirk in ways that no one else can tell.
And she does this for years, slowly cycling into a deeper insanity, because as it turns out? Endeavour doesn't actually care if she's 'better' or not; he got what he needed from her, and while leaving her locked up is a money drain, he's got the cash to burn and it's more convenient for him to just have his inconvenient wife locked away, far from the prying eyes of the media, than to let her out and risk an incident of some kind. By the time he actually does go to visit her, she's at a level of fucked up far beyond she had ever been outside, even at her worst, and there is zero hesitation in her when he finally appears before he, repentant. As it turns out, all her children have grown up, but they've all drifted further and farther away from Endeavour as they aged; he lives alone now in his massive house and the last time he got a chance to talk to his prized heir in private, without the cameras watching, so they could have a real conversation? Shoto froze the hand that touched him solid before walking off without saying a word, and it was only then that the reality started to sink in.
Rei then acts, as she has been for years now, and the second he lowers his guard, he stabs him in the face with a shiv she made out of ice. Here, Endeavour doesn't get a cosmetic scar from a Nomu, no. Here, he loses an eye to his wife.
And as for Shoto? Well. In this, at least, he is his mother's son: Shoto well and truly does not care about the media; he was burned by them when he was young and grew up distrusting them, and never once saw a reason to change that stance; at this point, he basiclly considers them more noise pollution more than anything legitimate, and the media classes that UA put the students in in their third year did nothing to change this impression, no matter how hard Present Mic tried.
As a hero, Shoto is many ways... raw. He doesn't focus on how his costume looks, or talking to his fans, or getting his image out there, or even having an image, he just... saves people, half out of defiance of his father's way of life, where saving people is just a tool to help his image rather than being a reason in itself, and half out his genuinely good nature.
Out of spite, he's reverted to an older form of heroism, and people noticed that. There are plenty of hero 'traditionalists' who see him do his own thing, be blunt and uncurated and hate it, but he nevertheless has a steady and growing fanbase for how straight forward he is; among his fans, he's known as the 'Rebel Hero' and over time he eventually took to calling himself that because he never really bothered with a hero name beyond 'Shoto'. He's never been able to break into the highest ranks of heroism, and probably never will (not that he cares), but in sheer amount of fans he's actually in the top twenty or thirty of heroes in Japan.
To be fair, he only gets away with it because he's Endeavour's son, because he never needs to generate his own popularity when the media loves to use him for an easy scandel when nothing's going on, and when his sheer notoriety protects him from the worst abuses of the Hero Commision, because unlike others, if Endeavour's son, the one everyone knows and is an active hero, was to suddenly disappear, Japan would lose it's shit, and they're smart enough to know that, even if Shoto himself isn't away of how dangerous the waters he treads in are at times.
All of this, of course, makes his response to questions about Endeavour infamous: he says absolutely nothing.
On the rare, rare, rare occasions he deigns to talk to a reporter, if that reporter dares to mention his father the same thing always happens:
First, he uses his version of the Endeavour patented, 'I don't care if you live or die so I'll gladly walk over your lifeless corpse' stare on that reporter for about thirty seconds. Then he walks off without saying a word.
And then he never acknowledges that reporter's existence ever again.
And this is not because he's trying to spare anyone's reputation, or even to try and harm Endeavour; his contempt of the media is that low that he genuinely thinks talking about his father with them is a complete waste of time.
...Well, anyways, beyond all that, a few more thoughts on this AU concept as a whole: there is no Dabi here, he genuinely died. There is, in fact, no AFO at all, and the greater plot of MHA basiclly isn't happening; All Might is, depending on when whatever story is happening is in the timeline, either in his final years of heroism or retired, and with no successor, because Izuku ruins Shoto's glorious clusterfuck. The people are there, sure, but society isn't quite at that point of seconds away from falling to pieces, so they're all in different places (if I commit to more world building on this I'll try to figure out where the more relevent people actually are). If this ends up with a greater plot beyond 'various stories of AU Todorokis', I like to think it'd focus on the HC as the main villains in how they're controlling and perverting heroism.
I like the idea of Shoto killing his father and going on a villain origin story as part of a long running psychotic break, I really do, but I honestly also like the 'Rebel Hero' dynamic I literally just came up with today; I'm conflicted. As kind of a middle ground it's easy to put off Rei's confrontation until years after he becomes a hero, and even justify it (because, you know. Never coming to see her is an Endeavour thing to do) so I can get both, but it feels like a cop out, like I'm refusing to commit.
Meanwhile, while working on how Rei is thinking (that is to say, I took the canon blank slate and blatantly made shit up), I'm wondering if I should make her a villain, here; after stabbing Endeavour, she escapes, and takes on a lot of the Dabi energy this story doesn't really have. No real development, just the idea of it: I'm still on the fence if it's good or not, but I think it's interesting so I'm mulling it over, and waiting to see what happens in my rotten swamp of a mind.
I think this is one of my few non-critical posts? I don't think it belongs in the usual 'mha/bnha critical' tags I use, anyways.
'Just A Kiss' - Todoroki x Fem OC - Part 1
Tumblr media
Wren's father is the notorious Endeavor's sidekick. Envious, jealous and greedy, Wren is thrust into hero training at an early age because of her father's failed career.
Her end goal? Its not to become the greatest hero.
It's to beat Shoto Todoroki.
She's always running, running, running to catch up to Endeavor's son, Shoto Todoroki. But instead of running ahead of him, a series of incidents causes her to end up running into his arms instead..
Au: Classic enemies to lovers. This is the prologue btw.
My father has always had an inferiority complex. You can’t blame the guy - being the sidekick of a pro hero is hard to be happy about. Especially for a man as prideful as Hita Oizawa.
As a young girl, I should’ve been happy that my father never spoke of his job, or his employer, inside of the stone walls of our house. It sickened father and he wouldn’t allow anyone to utter the number two hero’s name at home, even out of his own mouth.
He channeled that resentment elsewhere.
His anger towards his failure at a pro hero career resulted in determination to make me the next number one hero, even when I was a little girl.
“Again.” His gruff voice ordered.
I heaved out ragged breaths, my chest struggling to rise and fall. “We’ve been at this for hours.” My small limbs ached and my head pounded as if a sledgehammer was hitting it repeatedly. I wouldn’t have put it pass my father to do so.
“You’re not doing it well enough Wren. Again.”
Obeying his command - obliging was better than rebelling - I once again heaved up the heavy rock from our backyard and slammed it onto the unearthed soil. The ground shook beneath us and my knees buckled from the impact. From behind me, standing with his arms crossed in the shade of the veranda, I could sense his disappointment rolling off of him in waves. “Can we finish now?” My voice came out high pitched - hopeful. Day in, day out, I was forced to train in that very backyard. Picking up and tossing the earth. Mending it over again. Growing and summoning. Dying and languishing.
“You picked up less than last time.”
“But Father I-“
“His son recently mastered both of his quirks Wren. You can’t even master one.”
His words were laced with venom, and they cut to my core.
It was no secret that my father had wanted a son. He got a daughter.
It was blatantly obvious that he expected great things from me. I always underpreformed.
He never hid the fact that he wanted me to be the best. And I was always second to Shoto Todoroki.
Standing in the glaring sun with every muscle in my body screaming in overexertion and tears burning in my eyes, it became clear that my father and I had at least one thing in common.
We were desperately running behind a Todoroki, grasping at air to catch up. And we absolutely despised them and ourselves for it.
Across the street, Endeavor’s hearty laugh from inside his house rang out over the roaring in my ears.
the scent wafts in, her name making him beg on his knees chap 1.1
pairing: dabi / todoroki touya x fem!oc / reader (MODERN AU)
summary: He mentions her name after 6 months in therapy, absentmindedly narrating vivid memories of her. She was the only good thing during his darkest times.
(In which Touya returns home after rebelling against his family for 7 years. And no, it wasn't about forgiveness. He wanted to fix himself because of a certain someone.)
themes: nsfw, domestic abuse, violence, alcoholism, cigarette smoking, toxic relationships, mental health, co-dependency and other related themes (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)
notes: for this one, pls keep in mind that touya didn't have much scars on his face; mostly are on his body to accomodate the plot; charas might be ooc since this is modern au
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Todoroki Touya has returned; it wasn't a drill.
The eldest of the Todoroki family has returned, and it was all over the news like wildfire. Pictures of him were around tabloids and newspapers, imprinted on TV screens along with family pictures of his 13-year-old self as news anchors and writers all over Japan broadcasted about the Endeavor Corp. finally having its original heir back to where he belonged. Two years ago, Todoroki Shouto announced he wouldn't be the one to replace his father, Todoroki Enji as the owner and CEO of their family business. However, Shouto focused on one part of the Endeavor Corp., particularly their sports and training business, as he wanted to become a personal trainer someday.
Touya was aware of what was happening on the business side of his family despite his rebellion seven years ago. After all, he saw them all over the news, watched his father on TV, and observed how everything was faring for them. So when he returned to the main house, he was a bit surprised at a few details he had missed. For one, his mother, Todoroki Rei, had already been discharged from the mental ward, faring well and welcoming him back with a big, warm hug and fat tears rolling down her cheeks. It also seemed that things were a lot better between his parents, but some of them still held reluctance to forgive their father.
Particularly him and Natsuo.
Enji was aware of their hatred towards him, hence he would talk to them politically, as Enji the CEO of the Endeavor Corp., not as their own father. Touya believed it was only fair. He would've resorted to violence if that wasn't the case. Speaking of which, that was another reason, he returned.
"I have to settle things between this family and me once and for all," he informed them on the first day of his return. "I need to talk to Father."
He knew what Enji would say to him. His father will apologize and be remorseful over what happened. He will also mention about him being his successor in the future, even though he was having none of it.
"I don't need that title anymore," Touya coldly argued, resisting the urge to punch him in the face as he knew he wouldn't defend himself after everything he had done to them since they were kids. "Not from you, specifically."
Enji understood. Touya meant, "I will have that title by my own hands, not because you passed it to me cheap because Shouto didn't want it anymore." Afterwards, his father explained everything he was required to do before his first day in the company. He also mentioned something along the lines of, "You need to undergo rehab and therapy for a while. I knew what you have been up to these past seven years with your cigarette addiction and alcoholism."
Before, Touya would violently react, would be against his decision and say, "You're just scared because I might surpass you." Now, he just nodded at his direction much to Enji's surprise.
"Why are you so shocked? You think I will half-ass my return to this family?" Touya questioned, slightly mocking him.
"I know you wouldn't," Enji commented.
And before Touya left his office, he added: "Just so you know, I am not doing this for the family."
Enji raised a questioning brow.
"I'm doing this because of a certain someone."
------
The first few months of Touya's rehab and therapy were tough as shit, gnawing at him like sharp nails and digging his soul like he was trapped in darkness. He felt overwhelmed by everything, talking about his feelings all day, breaking out of his shell, and slightly wanting to just break things and be alone. Touya craved darkness at some point, the urge to be violent creeping on his shoulder like the devil even though a rational part of him warned him that it would not be the best choice. He wanted to destroy himself at this point, missing the familiar pain his piercings left on his ears and nose. He was breathing hard to calm himself, persuading his brain to shut its damn trap.
It's getting annoying, fucking shit. Everything's been chaotic.
The first few days were blank, spending it staring at mindless paintings and counting how many times the water from the faucet dropped in the sink. It was eerie yet relaxing, the silence enveloping him like a plague until it bit back to tell him how much madness he needed to unleash but couldn't. He secretly had his mp3 player in his pocket, and he would watch the door and the shadow underneath, checking if someone would come in. To this day, he still couldn't take it out.
He missed that damn voice, but he needed to be patient. He shouldn't miss her. He shouldn't think about her. This is nothing, he convinced himself. This is nothing compared to all the abuse I've endured before. The angry stare. The hateful remarks. The violent beatings. The disapproval underlying Enji's tone. His rough hand smacking him in the face. The burning scars left on his skin from the heating iron. The pitiful stares. The blood he spat from his mouth.
Everything.
EVERYTHING.
I WANNA DIE.
Out of panic, he quickly reached for the mp3 player from his pocket, a secret he kept from the treatment center. He wasn't supposed to have any gadgets with him, but he knew he had to. He couldn't drink alcohol. He couldn't smoke a stick to curb this annoying feeling. He cannot destroy shit. But he had to hear that soothing voice. He had to endure.
He put in the earbuds and played the audio, his breathing coming down in sighs as he felt himself relaxing.
"Touya..."
"Yes, call me that," he said to no one, tears streaming down as he smiled in satisfaction.
"Touya..."
"Touya..."
"Are you awake?"
"I made you breakfast."
"Touya..."
"Do you want me to take an off day from work?"
"Yes," he answered, hugging the pillow beside him and imagining it was her. "Just stay. Stay with me."
"Touya..."
"I love you..."
"Touya..."
I love you too.
------
Touya has learned something, and that therapy was another form of circle from hell, or that was just him. He heard people preach about therapy all the time, that undergoing therapy healed them, made them see the light at the end of the tunnel, and had them humbled in a way they could never explain. Touya wished it was the same for him, but nah. It wasn't. Therapy was another circle from hell. It made him too vulnerable, too open he could feel the burnt scars on his skin itching too much the more the therapist asked him about himself.
He also thought his therapist couldn't care less about his minimal responses, the first few days boring him as the man asked about his name, how old he was, what he did for a living after he ran away, what helped him cope—you know, the basic questions every therapist could ask for.
"Todoroki Touya. 26. I did odd jobs. Alcohol. Cigarettes. Fighting."
The therapist looked displeased, he noted. He probably wanted more answers than that.
"Have you been in therapy before?"
"No."
"What do you expect from this session?"
"I don't know."
"Why are you seeking therapy?"
If he was being honest, Touya's answer would be: "I don't know? Just to get this shit done, I guess?" Not like he would be rude now. After all, he returned as Todoroki Touya after seven years of rebelling. He should keep his damn trap if he wanted them all back.
Even her.
"Do you want to become a better person?"
"Yes."
