I think the reason a big sector of the mha fandom who doesn't see the flaws of the ending it's the same type of sector who praises a work following "real world logic" over the themes presented in that work that should've been respected.

A lot of arguments in favor of the ending end up being "well shigaraki killed people, he getting killed is good do you want criminals in the street? You have a broken moral" which is an obtuse argument.

Let me give an example: steven universe

a lot of people got mad for the ending because it was "unrealistic", a lot of people wanted to see steven beat to pulp the diamonds, yeah they're criminals however that wouldn't match the themes of the show, steven universe is about second chances, to resolve things without violence, to improve and accept yourself, you can dislike the ending, but you can't say isn't thematically accurate, the steven who tries to understand and help other enemy gems and help them to get better for the whole show, in the final moment killing and beating to death the big bad of the show doesn't make sense. Call it unrealistic, but the show had something to say, and stick to it.

You dont see this happening in mha, i saw people praising it for being realistic but, realism doesn't automatically make a work better, specially when that wasn't the original premise. A lot of much eloquent people than me have pointed out why this ending is deeply flawed (like for example how constantly we're being told to save the villans but not actually doing it), so i just wanted to point out how a lot of people care more about a work being "morally good" (and only in certain aspects) rather than being consistent and follow what message that wants to transmite.

Is something really sad, because it makes discussion and analysis something less about how well a work of art show us and present us its message and more a "you are a bad person because you wanted the villan to live"

Katsuki Bakugou and The Symbol of Peace

I was thinking about something... When I see analysis of Bakugou's character I always see talks about how he's perceptive of others weaknesses and strengths, how he also knows his strengths, but not his own weakness, things that he starts to perceive after Kamino. Which is true, in fact, as it's always brought up, he himself says "If you keep looking down on everyone else, you'll never be able to see your own weakness." But even though this is true I think it's not all there is.

Bakugou starts to see his faults after Kamino, because he started to see the things he thought were strengths as weaknesses. He begins to understand how All Might's symbol and some of his traits that make him seem great to the public, to society, are weak, because now that the symbol crumbled all that remained were weak foundations. All Might's symbol made him think that to be strong you'd have to do it alone because no one could even begin to think about surpassing you or even keep up with you.

That's what this is about, and that's what he's trying to fix later on in the series, when he follows Izuku, when he lets Endeavour and Shoto help save Izuku, when he explains to Endeavour why they can't leave Izuku and Toshinori alone with each other, when he tries to convince Izuku to come back to UA.

Following this line of thought, I think we can also say that in a way when Katsuki said "Tell me Izuku, can I still catch up to you?" he was fully seeing Izuku as the symbol of peace, and saw him take the same route of All Might, and so he was afraid that like every other superhero couldn't keep up with All Might, Izuku was becoming something like that to Katsuki and everyone else. "I'm the one who steps up when the nerd can't handle it all on his own", Katsuki is also saying that Izuku will never fully be like All Might and that he will personally make sure of it, because he'll always have someone to be at his side.

Alright so I've been trying to put together an MHA Steven Universe AU, but I'm struggling to figure out a couple of the roles! So I'm enlisting all of you wonderful people to help!

Heres what I have so far

Ruby- Katsuki

Sapphire- Izuku

Garnet- bakudeku (named Katsudori in the au)

Steven- Eri(?)

Connie- Kota(?)

Lapis- Hawks

Peridot- Shigaraki

Jasper- Dabi

I have had ideas for the other roles, but nothing quite fit the way I wanted it to. My request to you all is to comment and/or reblog with your suggestions for the remaining roles as well as other suggestions for who to put into Steven and Connies roles as i'm not entirely certain about them yet. What do you think of Childhood Friends Izuku & Momo?

I think it’s adorable and can make a really cute story depending on how it goes.

“How do you know Yaoyorozu?” Uraraka asked Izuku, after Momo had made a comment about another lawsuit at Bakugou that had the teenager stomp off.

“We met when we were about… seven.” Izuku said.

“I was kidnapped,” Momo said casually. “I got free but didn’t know where I was or what to do. Izuku found me, and helped me get to his place.”

“Seeing a girl my age bloody and bruised…” Izuku shook his head. “I had to help.”

“Friends ever since, hence my knowledge of Bakugou,” Momo scowled. “He’s a thorn.”

Izuku shrugged, not caring. He didn’t see a reason why to bother with his old ‘friend’. He had Momo, and she mattered a lot more to him than a boy who’d bullied him his entire life.

So in all, I think it’s cute! I’d love to see more of it, if it’s ends in friends to lovers or just fluffy friendship!
