TVD Rebekah gets a bad rep. In TO I know she's a bit more appreciated. Damon would OFC sleep with her. Had nothing to do with Elena. He prefers vampire women (at least after s1) and he was looking to blow off steam, feel desired, and just have fun. He needed it (after Elena hurt him for no reason) and Rebekah needed it too. Why the Damon hate about it??? Stefan sleeping with her is similar. They have history and he was looking to move on. Stefan with her was a bit more calculated, hence why Damon outs him.
Rebekah is a huge parallel for Damon and Stefan. Damon had more intention, and he got exactly what he expected from Elena.
Rebekah tried to kill Elena at the open of 3x14. In 3x6, it was Esther who sent Vicki to kill her, so Esther was behind Delena's first aid scene. Elena nearly died by fire because of Esther, so Damon decided to make a point while making her jealous. He felt that if Elena can meet with Esther after Esther nearly killed her, and do so while expecting him not to care... then he can sleep with Rebekah after Rebekah nearly killed her, and do so while expecting her not to care. What's good for Elena should be good for Damon, period. Despite the fact that sleeping with Rebekah was all about Elena, Damon claimed he did it for himself because of her comment. "Elena. Did you get what you want?" Because she said she got what she wanted, Damon claimed to get what he wanted. That's why he lied to her about his reason for sleeping with Rebekah. Elena pisses off Damon, he's mad and has to get over it. He gets over it when he has sex with Rebekah because angry sex is good sex and quite the release lol. Damon pisses off Elena because she finds out he slept with Reekah. So then it's her turn to be mad, and her need to get over it. She gets over it when Rebekah abducts Damon to torture him because it's one thing to be mad at him, and another to be mad to the point of wanting him dead. It's at this time Stefan realizes she's in love with Damon.
Damon and Elena are so madly in love with each other... they're making each other mad lol
For Stefan, sleeping with Rebekah was solely about losing Elena, and he's quite ashamed of it. He has serious post-sex regret. He knew it would piss off Elena, so he tried to sneak out and keep it a secret. He wasn't trying to move on from Elena, but more or less biding his time because he truly believed the cure for vampirism would pull her back to him. A momentary need for pleasure is what I'd term their sex. He didn't expect Klaus to catch him sneaking out, and he's even more bothered when Klaus tells Damon because he knows he's gonna get outed for it. Stefan doesn't have the dual purpose Damon has, and I feel that has a lot to do with the parallel between them. Rather than making a point like Damon, I feel Stefan's entire parallel to Damon is the point. In 4x12, Klaus and Damon spend time in the cellar. 3x14 was Stefan's revenge against Klaus and his love for Elena. In 4x12, Kol tries to cut off Jeremy's arms. 3x14, he was breaking Matt's fingers.
In 4x12, Elena is helping Jeremy kill Kol. 3x14, Damon was killing Kol after he broke Matt's fingers.
After killing Kol, Elena finds out Stefan slept with Rebekah. 3x15, she found out Damon slept with Rebekah.
In 4x12, Elena's plan with Stefan was to sideline Rebekah. 3x14, Elena's plan with Stefan was to sideline Damon.
I consider it insanely important for fans to question Elena's thought process because I'm quite certain these parallels exist for a reason. I'm still working on my analysis post for 3x14, so I'll stop there.

[ 𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 ] : sender and receiver are finally about to kiss, but are interrupted. / 1922 :)
ㅤㅤthe original finds himself to be at a bit of an impasse, the soft jazz filling the speakeasy an admittedly pleasant melody to accompany his misery. on the one hand, he is with his stefan again. on the other, rebekah has taken an alarming interest in him. it leaves a pit in his stomach, imagining the possibility that his old flame would be snatched up by his darling sister. he knows he would be incapable of tolerating that, the obvious chemistry and connection between the two evoking a deep-seated sense of dread. his quick mind is plotting ways to separate the pair, none of them pleasant. before he stoops to that, however, he focuses on attempting to worm his way back into stefan's heart. they have a history, after all, an advantage rebekah cannot hope to compete with. so he starts with heated glances, lingering touches, dances that are perhaps a tad too intimate, his intentions a bit too obvious.
ㅤㅤit appears to work, klaus managing to sequester his ripper away to a secluded corner. his arms are resting along the top of the booth, stefan tucked rather close. just as he begins to lean in however, rebekah reappears, blonde curls seeming especially bright as they cut through this moment of his with stefan. upper lip curling slightly in annoyance, he leans back against the cushion, bitter taste on his tongue. ❛ you certainly have a way of making an entrance, dear sister. ❜ the promising atmosphere is promptly ruined as the other mikaelson joins them, klaus picking up his glass, intending to drown his sorrows. ❛ i suppose i will simply have to bide my time, ❜ he murmurs, drawing a suspicious glance from his sister. but his hooded gaze remains on stefan, dimples appearing in response to his knowing smirk.

"He said nothing more, but Ben, I don't think he meant to tell me the numbers."
Benjamin drew back with a growl, slamming his fist into a cupped hand.
"I don't believe it was a ploy, but a slipup made in confidence," Rebekah persisted. "Bradford isn't clever enough for that. He must have heard it from Lee."
"Lee," Benjamin echoed, the name dripping from his lips akin to poison. "That damned fool...how could Bradford even entertain the idea that he'd be our soundest choice? Why, he's already bungled countless arrangements, and his sheer arrogance alone...!" Trailing off, his nostrils flared and he punched his cupped palm anew. "I would take our suspicions to Washington personally, but he won't hear of it. I've already told him about Lee and his potential treason, and he waved it off as hearsay." Embittered, he shook his head. "I never told you this, but Anna and Abigail relayed information suggesting Lee is a traitor. I've been biding my time, attempting to glean intelligence and prove once and for all that he is conspiring with the enemy, but it's been all for naught... And unfortunately, the fumbled words of some lobcock aren't enough to sway the general."
As always, Rebekah acted as a grounding point, her words soothing and gentle as she touched his arm. "Think about it. Bradford isn't loyal to Washington in the slightest, but I don't believe he's the sort to willingly hand over the Continental Army to the British either. Lee is the one acting in duplicity. He's got something up his sleeve and he's about to march off with a third of our men."
Rolling his lips together, Benjamin nodded, completely nettled. "I don't disagree," he replied. "The problem is finding incriminating evidence of this truth... Surely, he wouldn't be so foolish as to write out the plans, nor hide them in plain sight. Bradford, on the other hand..." Eyes alight, he suggested, "Perhaps he is foolish enough. Although I agree that he's not intent on ruining our ranks, he might still hold some sort of evidence that could lead us directly to Lee's plans. The only problem is distracting Bradford enough to get inside his tent."
It wouldn't be so difficult, given the excitement of preparing for battle, but the idea of sending Rebekah into the fray, which he knew she would volunteer for, didn't sit well with him.
"We'll send Caleb," Benjamin decided. "I don't want you anywhere near either of those snakes. The less likely they are to realize your involvement, the better."
"When did you speak with Bradford?"
"When he ordered me to accompany the battalion," she answered.
"Why would he tell this to you and no one else?"
"I don't --"
Rebekah hadn't time to finish her sentence before Ben had given himself an answer.
"He wanted you to tell me. He's purposely feeding us false numbers to lower our defenses...to make us come under-prepared."
The very mention of Bradford's involvement had sent him into a blind rage, prompting him to slam his hands against the rim of the tub, sending ripples vibrating through the water.
"Goddamn him! I knew he was a part of this -- I knew it!"
Benjamin had managed to work himself up into a frenzy, angered by the man who had chosen to be his enemy despite their common cause, and Rebekah was concerned that it might very well be clouding his judgment. He took her hands pleadingly and she looked up into his beryl eyes, burning with perseverence.
"What else did Bradford say? Even if these numbers aren't true, I'll need to check with my scouts...it's doubtful he's brainwashed an entire detachment with his treasonous tripe."
"He said nothing more, but Ben, I don't think he meant to tell me the numbers. I don't believe it was a ploy, but a slipup made in confidence. Bradford isn't clever enough for that. He must have heard it from Lee."
She squeezed Ben's hands reassuringly, "Think about it. Bradford isn't loyal to Washington in the slightest, but I don't believe he's the sort to willingly hand over the Continental Army to the British either. Lee is the one acting in duplicity. He's got something up his sleeve and he's about to march off with a third of our men."

Aurora tutted in annoyance at Amara's refusal to call a hunter to answer their questions. Had she ever tried? Most certainly she had spent most of her life avoiding interacting with spirits, never bothering summoning one to speak. "They would refuse simply because of some witch's grudge? Why should they do her biding?" Aurora scoffed.
Whether the cure was meant for Amara or not, what would the hunters care about some witch's vendetta? "Tell them we want it for Silas then. Who cares?" Aurora scoffed. She wanted the cure gone, used on someone so that it could never be used on her or sought by Rebekah.
to amaras surprise, @ladamedemartel didn't seem to be too shocked about the existence of these hunters. perhaps she had already met too many hunters in her life, most were after vampires, after all. perhaps she had already had the dubious pleasure of meeting one of them. amara knew these people were driven people – they only had one goal in mind and they disdained any form of immortality. even if it was just the lesser form of vampirism.
"i cannot just … summon one." amara retorted with visible aversion. she did not wish to have to interact with one of them. usually - or quite often - there isn't only one voice. there are many and they are angry. if they weren't, they'd already found peace.
"the cure isn't meant for me. or for any vampire. that is not their mission. they would refuse to help," amara continued to explain. the cure was meant for silas only; amara knew this for sure. she had witnessed its creation while she slowly (and still so scaringly quickly) withered away for the first time.
