lord help me i'm about to become the patient every doctor hates and argue with my psychiatrist based on google
#listen the woman is very nice i'm glad she picked up on my polite hinting around my anxiety/possible pmdd and prescribed zoloft#but also she's so overly cautious that it's driving me fucking crazy#she made me get vitamin testing and an ecg. okay sure no harm in that#she wrote me a prescription for high-dose vitamin d supplements. fine it's actually cheaper than otc stuff#but now she's making me go to a fucking cardiologist because i have respiratory sinus arrhythmia??#respiratory sinus arrhythmia is fucking good for you!! it means your heart is healthy and has good parasympathetic output!!#(admittedly my ecg just says 'sinus arrhythmia' and 'normal variant' so theoretically it COULD be a different type of sinus arrhythmia)#(but like. it's fucking not. i don't have heart disease and i've never had a head injury or taken digoxin#and also i can literally feel my heart rate change when i inhale and exhale and i've been aware of it for years)#and also!!! i cannot find a single goddamn paper that even suggests methylphenidate is unsafe in people with sinus arrhythmia!!!#also as dental students we send a lot of consult requests to cardiologists so i KNOW how much cardiologists hate doing unnecessary consults#like they are NOT nice about it they get extremely bitchy and passive-aggressive#anyway. i did make a cardiologist appointment so if she can provide me with an actual good reason for concern i'll keep it#but if not then i'm cancelling that sucker. sorry i'm not wasting my time and money just so a cardiologist can tell me#that i'm allowed to keep taking the medication that i've been taking for 7 goddamn years with no issues#personal post shut up

By Bonnie Petrie
When Garret Beckner was 37 years old, he started having chest pains.
“I remember going to the doctor and getting that checked out,” Beckner said. “They said, ‘Hey, you're almost 40, type 2 diabetic, with a sedentary office job. Let's check your heart out.’”
At the time, Beckner was a pretty typical American office worker, with his "butt glued in a chair" at least eight hours a day. He hiked some on weekends with his wife and baby daughter, and his type 2 diabetes was well controlled, but, he did do a whole lot of sitting around.
“So they gave me the stress test,” Beckner said. “They gave me all the different diagnostics, and looked at my heart. I had no issues.”
Beckner said his heart was declared healthy, and he was then referred gastroenterologist who diagnosed him with acid reflux.
“So at least as far back as 2017 I know that my heart was in good condition” Beckner said.
He had no reason to believe that had changed when 2020 rolled around, and a novel coronavirus moved into town.
The Beckners had what he describes as a strong, reinforced bubble that included other COVID-conscious people. Their daughter went to daycare, but it was an in-home situation with other people in their bubble.
They made it through the first year of brutal COVID waves unscathed. But the coronavirus caught up with them eventually.
“We'd moved to San Antonio in October of 2021. We wanted to be closer to family. We were kind of chasing a dream,” Beckner said. “We couldn't find an in-home daycare, so we had to bring our daughter to one of those places that’s got multiple rooms, multiple classes.”
Within a week, Beckner said, his daughter had brought COVID home. All three of them got sick. His daughter shook it off quickly. His wife got quite ill but then recovered quickly and fully.
For Beckner, it was not like that at all. He didn’t recover quickly. In fact, he said, he hasn’t recovered at all. Beckner developed long COVID, and while trying to uncover the causes of his multiple, debilitating symptoms, his doctor sent him to a cardiologist.
“They said we'll do the full workup, kind of similar to what I'd had done years prior,” Beckner said. “Only this time, I couldn't make it through the stress test. I couldn't even get through it.”
Beckner was quickly scheduled for an angiogram, a test that would look at his coronary blood vessels to see if they were blocked. He was sedated for the procedure, and when he woke up, the person who performed the test was by his side.
“I just remember seeing his face as soon as I woke up,” Beckner said. “He was like, ‘you have three clogged arteries. We're gonna have to get you to a specialist.”
But wait, Beckner thought, he was only 42, and when he had that cardiac workup back in 2017 he got a clean bill of health. This couldn’t be right. But it was.
“Literally seven days after that consult, I was in surgery” Beckner said. “I had three arteries on the left side that were basically completely blocked, and if they didn't get me into surgery for bypass…inevitable heart attack, it was a matter of time.”
His heart had been a ticking time bomb.
And Beckner is not alone. Research beginning early in the pandemic and continuing to today has consistently found that for at least a year after being infected with the COVID virus, people may be at increased risk of developing a new heart-related problem. Those problems can range from blood clots to arrythmias to a sudden, catastrophic heart attack.
What’s going on? Researchers are slowly beginning to tease that out, and the answer may come down to a single word. Inflammation.
In this episode of Petrie Dish, Bonnie talked with Dr. Dara Lee Lewis, a Harvard Medical School instructor in medicine at Brigham and Women’s, and director of noninvasive testing and co-director of the Women’s Cardiology Program at the Lown Cardiology Group in Boston.

Broken People PART I (James Wilson fanfic)
“Why do we ended up finding more broken people thinking we can fix them?”
Part II - Part III - Part IV - Part V - Part VI
Word count : 1.7k
Summary
Lynette the cardiologist had a trouble with drug abuse as she deals with a heavy painful migraine. She suspects that she’s going through a withdrawal after getting off the drugs. James comes to the rescue.
Authors note : I haven’t write in years guys. It’s shit but at least I tried.
WARNING: DRUG ABUSE‼️
Tumblr media
The headache was killing Lynette on the inside. She was supposed to head on to work today but she decided to give Cuddy a call to let her know that she has a fever going on and that she would not be able to get to work on time. Cuddy gave a green light, but Lynette felt bad on the inside. Because she lied, she skipped her therapy session for a while now. She made a mistake by making an appointment at the hospital where she worked at. She could lose her credibility, people would question her. Its not a good reputation for someone with a great cardiologist reputation to uphold in the hospital. So she skipped, and it has gotten worst.
Truth be told, she cried into the night yesterday, she couldn’t stop bawling for whatever reason. Someone as so fragile as her can’t work in the hospital where she associates with death most of the time. But no she doesn’t lose any patients. All her patients that she treated most of the time are alive and well. Though some are in recovery. But there’s just one that she couldn’t save, and that was her dad. A doctor can’t treat a family. It would risk malpractice. It would risk her credibility, but it felt unfair if comparing to whatever House does with his patients but he always gets away with it. Along with Foreman, Cameron and Chase. They all got away with it.
She still blames herself every night but yesterday had been the boiling point and she can’t help but breaking down. She’s at the edge of her bed, her head in her hands while she leaning forward trying to hold herself together. “Iron deficiency with cephalalgia. Should eat probably..” she muttered to herself.
Suddenly the doorbell rang and it surprised Lynette, she didn’t expect any guests today. She walked over sloppily to the door, as she unlocked it. The first thing she saw was the soft brown eyes peering into hers. She was bright red looking at this surprise. Not to mention that she was only in her jogger pants and a crop T-shirt. She wasn’t fully prepared for this so she hides her tummy with her forearm but it doesn’t actually help.
“Hey..” Wilson started. “Heard that you got sick, I got you a little something to help..” he said while lifting a bag in his left hand. Lynette was still surprised but she managed to composed herself. Smiling softly at him, she invited him in while gesturing her hand and stepped to the side to give him room to walk in. She closed the door behind him as she go towards the toilet to composed herself for a while.
While she looks at herself in the mirror, her hair was disheveled and her face looked so dull so she washes her face and combed her hair nicely. She went outside to find Wilson on the couch, sitting and waiting for her. She tiredly head to the kitchen to make him a cup of tea. She hardly personally talks to Wilson at work unless if its all about work. She met some of his patients for a consult or a second opinion if it concerning the chests of a patient but other than that, she doesn’t always talk to him.
On the other hand, Wilson fidgets with his fingers. He was surprised at himself that he made it this far because he never thought he would ever do something like this. He has a crush on Lynette but never really wanting to say it because he knows House will get on his back and ream him on it. So he doesn’t confide or told anyone for 6 whole months and it was a personal record even for him. Lynette can be kind of reserved but he was worried because she has been taking pills every now and then just like House do. So when Cuddy told him that she’s not coming into work today, his worries intensified and he just had to come and see her.
Lynette walks towards the couch with the cup of tea in her right hand. She sat next to Wilson, putting the cup of tea infront of him while looking at his eyes, maybe for an answer. But she didn’t think of any reasons else other than a patient.
“Is this about a patient?” She composed herself. Wilson unconsciously eyes her, she was too skinny, with her pelvic bones literally exposed and too protruding. His worries needlessly intensified more.
“Um no, Cuddy told me you weren’t coming in so that she was trying to find another cardiologist to consult.” He stopped.
“I just got worried about you for a second..” he added. Lynette tiringly smiled. “Thank you.” She said.
Wilson awkwardly drinks the cup of tea. “Oh! This is nice. I like this. I think I had a similar taste of this years before..” he commented. “It’s just peach tea. Peace is my favourite scent and fruit.” Lynette commented. Then there was an awkward prolonged silence until Lynette reaches for the bag on the table that Wilson brought. It smelled delicious. It allured her.
“You hungry?” Wilson questions as her hands reached for the food container. Lynette smiled. “Yea I haven’t been able to eat these days, but its coming on to me now.” Lynette shyly says as she grabbed the chopsticks and pluck them. She helps herself to the Chinese food, she was impatient. Wilson looked at her adoringly. He was in love with her. He wanted to confessed but scared that she might run away considering she is a little reserved. Wilson watches as she chows down the food in her throat.
“You should go a little slower than that..” he commented. Lynette looked at him and slowed down with her chewing. After examining Wilson for a while. She knew that he isn’t here just to visit her. She puts down the food container and slowly wipes her mouth with the napkin.
“You’re not here just to visit me Wilson.” She started.
“Please, just call me James.” He looked at her with uncertainty plastered on his face.
Lynette just quietly looked at him waiting for some sort of answer before the unthinkable happened. She started to feel the food is lunging out of stomach. She quickly gets up to run to the toilet. She threw up all the content from her stomach. Wilson jumped up and ran after her, holding her hair up while she vomited the rest into the toilet. Wilson strokes her back gently. After she finished throwing up, she couldn’t get up. She was just too weak so Wilson carried her bridal style to her bedroom, pushing the bedsheets away, he put her gently onto the bed. He measures her pulses and found a thermometer on the bed table. He puts it in her mouth right under the tongue.
“Your hearts rates normal, temperature is also fine. Maybe a mild case of gastroenteritis. Do you have the meds for it? Or do you want me to prescribe you?” He asked gently. She looked at him and pointing to the drawer. He got her cue and took out what it seemed a bag full of medicines. He was looking for the right one to give it to her. “Loperamide..” he mutters quietly.
He passed her a cup of water to swallow the pill down which she gladly took. “You definitely need a lot of rest. You should tell Cuddy that you cant work for a few days.” He commented, looking at her with his puppy eyes. Lynette smiled tiringly.
“I can manage, thank you Wils— James. Thank you James. I felt better just a tiny bit. You should get going. Works calling. Your pagers been ringing a while and you didn’t even check.” Lynette worries.
“I did. Its that one annoying call from House..” he rolls his eyes. “Can I come back to check on you later, please?” He professed.
“You know you don’t have to..” she squirmed.
“I want to see you again. I want to be always to get to see you again.” He confessed. Lynette tilted her head in confusion but now its crystal clear. She slowly sat up, hating the headache again. She stood up, looking up at him. She gave him a warm hug. A hug that she needed for quite some time now. Wilson was surprised, but he smiled and hugged her even tighter. “I smelled like vomit though.” She professed. “Nothing I cant handle.” He smiles back. “I’ll come back to see you later..” he kissed her cheeks before leaving.
When Wilson closed the door behind him, he had the most giddy look on his face but he knew he had to control it because if House sees it, he will never hear the end of it.
The wild thoughts were running through Lynettes head.
Did he actually confessed that he likes me? That he wanted to see me everytime? Why didn’t I realise this before?
She thought a lot so the headache sneakily comes back after the euphoric moment that Lynette got really cranky. But she wanted herself to get sorted first so she hit the showers..feeling the euphoric energy flowed through her thinking about James that he is gonna come back to see her again. She closed her mouth with both her palms feeling giddy in the shower but pissed right afterwards that her headache gotten so much worse.
After showering, she was feeling the adrenaline rushing so she decided to clean up her house even though it was a drag trying to bear with the pain in her mind, but she needs to at least makes her house looked more presentable. She never expected that James would confessed. She didn’t see this before. It was a sign that she ignored every possibility for a love life at the hospital. It was supposed to be that way, for the sake of professionalism.
“I shouldn’t get my hopes up or anything. I should just let this go through the flow..” she calmed herself down after cleaning. A while later she continue to finish the food that James brought over.
A knock was heard from across the room. Lynette panicked, and that triggers the sudden migraine to come back. Its getting so bad lately that she contemplates to try taking the pills again but she promised herself that she wont be a drug user. She went to get the door with smile all over the face that slowly faded. She had another surprise guest coming in.
“House?”

Kiridai if Kiridai were involved in agriculture
Britain edition because I know little to nothing about Japanese agriculture
Hanamiya Makoto
Large animal and equine vet
The type of vet who sells various prescription drugs under the counter (or, to be specific, from the boot of his car): everyone knows and no one calls him out on it, because cheaper drugs are cheaper drugs
There’s a rumour that he used to be a specialist small animal cardiologist abroad, best in the country, and only moved because he may or may not have made an ethically dubious decision that may or may not have resulted in his breaking criminal law
But he also has a great eye for spotting lameness that another vet would miss, and in general his diagnoses are never wrong, so livestock owners flock to him because one consultation almost always gets the job done, and equine owners flock to him because he always finds a problem to explain their paranoia
Yamazaki Hiroshi
Has a flock of sheep in the Uplands
I.e. he spends lambing season in sideways rain and gales, getting soaked to the skin and swearing that he’ll give up on sheep, and yet he never does and never will
Breeds for meat, but dreams of a world where he could breed primarily for wool and earn a living from it
Has a couple wethers living in his house full time - all were orphaned at birth and thus hand-reared by him, making him too attached to them to send them to slaughter
Also has a slightly deranged collie that still hasn’t quite figured out why it has to leave said wethers alone but herd all the other sheep
Names as many of his sheep as his memory can manage, even though he knows it just makes the goodbyes harder
Furuhashi Kojiro
Flower farmer - has some bee hives on the side, and grows seasonal vegetables, but his primary focus/income is cut flowers
Has a good 400 varieties of flowers (everything from Achillea to Weigela) growing on his land for commercial use, most of which he will cut and organise for wedding and hotel arrangements and bouquets
Also grows his own rose breeds (one purple to red climbing rose; one mostly white with hints of purple Damask rose) but he rarely, if ever, sells any of the progeny. They’re practically his children, after all - you don’t sell your children
Some of them will see the inside of rose shows, and the climbing rose has been planted at a rose garden, but otherwise they spend his days in his garden
Meanwhile, the other flowers and the foliage both get sold throughout the year, as does the honey and the vegetables (at the local village market), and, though he doesn’t love cutting them, he doesn’t miss them like he would the roses
Doesn’t use any insecticide or herbicide and very much judges flower farmers that do
If he’s not silently tending to his plants for hours on end, then he’s grumbling about the loss of insects, and if he’s not grumbling about the loss of insects, he’s frowning reading the latest reports on climate change
His plans for the future involve an exceptionally sharp pair of scissors and a Bonsai tree
Seto Kentato
Large animal vet
Tried small animal for a while, and then equine, but neither worked because he found the owners talked too much or ‘loved their animals too much’ (aka made them obese). Hence moving onto, and sticking with, large animal.
The farmers he works with know that he doesn’t like to talk too much, and can be brusque, but none of them care because he’s the best large animal vet in the area
Doesn’t particularly like cows but, for reasons unknown, cows really like him (and bulls despise him)
Can be found sleeping at the back of the clinic whenever he’s not on call
Thinking about getting some training and specialising in large zoo animals, for the added challenge - something about rhinos and elephants is calling his name
Hara Kazuya
He was a man child struggling with boredom and too much money for his own good, who therefore decided he’d try his hand at farming
Wasn’t initially sure what to farm - at one point, he was seriously considering snails - until he read that the ostrich industry had collapsed because no one could figure out how to keep them healthy in the UK. And he took that as a challenge.
Hence Hara, the ostrich farmer.
Went through a phase where he had his hair dyed half black and half white, to rep the ostriches
Keeps saying he’ll get a dangerous animal license, so he can get some pet zebras to continue with “the theme”… the mad* lad might just do it
He’s also the kind of owner to ask whether he can give his ostriches weed to help them chill out “because it works for people in the States”… it’s safe to say that his local vets avoid doing his call-outs as much as possible,
The ostriches like him though :)
The business is profitable, the animals are healthy so clearly he’s doing something right
*and by mad, I mean despicable. do not keep wild animals as pets.

Understanding Blood Pressure
Blood pressure is measured in two numbers:
Systolic pressure: The top number, indicates the pressure when your heart beats.
Diastolic pressure: The bottom number, represents the pressure when your heart rests between beats.
A blood pressure (BP) reading of 120/80 mmHg or lower is considered normal. Hypertension is diagnosed when your blood pressure consistently measures above 130/80 mmHg.
Causes of Hypertension
While the exact cause of primary hypertension (the most common type) is unknown, several factors contribute to its development: The reason of high blood pressure may include:
Age: The risk of hypertension increases with age.
Family history: A family history of high blood pressure can elevate your risk.
Obesity: Excess weight puts added strain on your heart and blood vessels.
Lack of physical activity: Regular exercise helps lower blood pressure.
Diet: High intake of sodium and low potassium intake can contribute to hypertension.
Smoking: Smoking damages blood vessels and elevates blood pressure.
Stress: Chronic stress can elevate blood pressure.
Chronic conditions: Conditions like kidney disease, sleep apnea, and diabetes can increase the risk.
Symptoms of Hypertension
The insidious nature of hypertension is often referred to as the "silent killer" because it often doesn't cause noticeable blood pressure too high symptoms in its early stages. However, some people may experience:
Headaches
Dizziness
Shortness of breath
Nosebleeds
Fatigue
Consult our cardiologist in Gurugram if you are experiencing the above high blood pressure symptoms.
Complications of Hypertension
Uncontrolled hypertension can lead to serious health issues, including:
Heart attack
Stroke
Heart failure
Kidney damage
Vision problems
Prevention and Management
While there's no cure for hypertension, several lifestyle changes and medical interventions can help manage it effectively:
Healthy diet: Reduce sodium intake, increase potassium-rich foods, and focus on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.
Regular exercise: Set a goal for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week.
Weight management: Losing even a small amount of weight can significantly lower blood pressure.
Limit alcohol and caffeine: Excessive consumption can elevate blood pressure.
Quit smoking: Smoking damages blood vessels and increases blood pressure.
Manage stress: Practice relaxation techniques such as meditation or yoga.
Medication: If lifestyle changes aren't enough, your doctor may prescribe blood pressure medication.
Regular blood pressure checks are essential for monitoring and managing hypertension. By adopting healthy habits and working closely with your healthcare provider, you can effectively control your blood pressure and reduce your risk of serious complications.
Consult our cardiology hospital in Gurugram if you need treatment for high blood pressure disease.

Understanding the Holter Monitor Test in Kolkata: An Essential Tool for Heart Health
Heart health monitoring has become increasingly sophisticated, allowing doctors to detect and address potential issues with precision. One such diagnostic tool is the Holter monitor test, which records heart activity over 24 hours. This test provides a detailed picture of heart rhythm, allowing doctors to diagnose conditions that may not be detected during a standard ECG. For those in Kolkata, finding a reliable facility to perform a Holter monitor test is straightforward, and the test is available at various leading hospitals and diagnostic centers. Here’s an overview of what the test entails and what you can expect regarding the 24-hour Holter monitor test cost in Kolkata.
What is a Holter Monitor Test?
A Holter monitor test is a continuous recording of heart activity over an extended period, usually 24 hours, but sometimes longer if needed. Unlike a traditional ECG, which captures heart activity for a few seconds, a Holter monitor provides a longer-term view, making it effective for detecting irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias), episodes of dizziness, palpitations, or other symptoms that may not appear during a brief ECG.
The Holter monitor is a small, wearable device connected to the chest with electrodes. It records every heartbeat, allowing doctors to review a detailed log of cardiac activity and identify patterns or abnormalities. Patients can go about their daily activities during the test, as the monitor is designed to be portable and discreet.
Why Take a Holter Monitor Test?
There are several reasons why a doctor might recommend a Holter monitor test in Kolkata, including:
Detecting Irregular Heartbeats (Arrhythmias): Arrhythmias are irregular heartbeats that can cause palpitations, dizziness, or even fainting spells. A Holter monitor can catch these irregularities that a regular ECG might miss.
Evaluating Heart Conditions: For individuals with existing heart issues like angina or heart disease, a Holter monitor helps assess heart function and determine if any adjustments to treatment are needed.
Monitoring Post-Treatment Recovery: After heart procedures such as bypass surgery, angioplasty, or pacemaker installation, doctors often use a Holter monitor to ensure the heart is recovering as expected.
Understanding Unexplained Symptoms: Symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, or lightheadedness may be related to heart problems, and a Holter monitor can provide clues to the underlying cause.
What to Expect During the Holter Monitor Test
The test is straightforward and non-invasive. During an initial visit, a technician will place electrodes on your chest, which connect to a small recording device. This device, the Holter monitor, can be worn under clothing and will continuously record your heart’s activity.
You’ll be advised to carry on with normal activities while wearing the monitor, although some precautions—like avoiding water (to prevent damage to the device)—are necessary. After the 24-hour monitoring period, you’ll return to the facility to have the device removed, and the data will be analyzed by a cardiologist.
24-Hour Holter Monitor Test Cost in Kolkata
The 24-hour Holter monitor test cost in Kolkata can vary depending on the hospital or diagnostic center. On average, you can expect to pay between ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 for the test, although this range may fluctuate based on the facility, duration of monitoring (some tests may last 48 hours or longer), and the specific analysis requirements. Many top hospitals and diagnostic centers in Kolkata provide the test, often with options for online reports and follow-up consultations to discuss results.
Benefits of the Holter Monitor Test
The Holter monitor test offers significant advantages for diagnosing heart conditions:
Continuous Monitoring: It provides a complete 24-hour record, making it easier to detect intermittent arrhythmias and heart rate abnormalities that are not visible in short-term ECGs.
Non-Invasive: The test is painless and requires no injections or surgical procedures.
Real-Life Heart Monitoring: Since you can carry on with normal activities, the test captures how your heart responds to real-life situations, making it highly accurate.
Choosing a Facility for the Holter Monitor Test in Kolkata
When choosing a hospital or diagnostic center for a Holter monitor test in Kolkata, consider factors such as the center’s reputation, the expertise of its cardiology team, and the availability of facilities for data analysis and follow-up consultations. Many of Kolkata’s top hospitals offer this test along with comprehensive cardiac care services, ensuring that patients receive accurate results and appropriate guidance.
Conclusion
The Holter monitor test is a valuable diagnostic tool for anyone experiencing heart-related symptoms or those who need regular heart monitoring. If you’re considering the test, Kolkata offers many reputable facilities with expert cardiologists and advanced technology. With a typical 24-hour Holter monitor test cost in Kolkata of around ₹2,000 to ₹4,000, this test is accessible and provides essential insights into heart health, paving the way for timely intervention and better management of cardiac conditions. If you’re experiencing symptoms or simply wish to monitor your heart health, a Holter monitor test could be the key to a healthier heart and peace of mind.

With cardiovascular diseases being one of the leading causes of mortality globally, timely intervention and expert care are essential. In this guide, we will explore how to identify the best cardiologist in Lucknow, the importance of specialized heart care, and what you can expect during your consultations and treatments.
Understanding Cardiovascular Health
What Is Cardiovascular Health?
Cardiovascular health refers to the well-being of the heart and blood vessels, which is crucial for overall health. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) encompass a range of conditions affecting the heart, including coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders, and heart failure. Understanding the significance of cardiovascular health is the first step towards prevention and treatment.
Why See a Cardiologist?
A cardiologist is a specialist trained to diagnose and treat heart-related conditions. Here are some key reasons to consult the best heart doctor in Lucknow:
Expert Diagnosis: Cardiologists use advanced diagnostic tools to assess heart function and detect issues early.
Specialized Treatment: They can recommend tailored treatment plans, including lifestyle changes, medication, and surgical options when necessary.

4. Valvular Heart Disease
This condition affects one or more of the heart’s valves, disrupting normal blood flow. Treatment may involve medication or surgical valve repair or replacement.
5. Congenital Heart Defects
Some individuals are born with heart defects that can affect heart function. Treatment approaches vary widely depending on the severity and type of defect.
The Importance of Regular Check-Ups
Regular check-ups with a cardiologist are crucial, especially for individuals with risk factors for heart disease, such as:
Family History: A family history of heart disease increases your risk.
Diabetes: Individuals with diabetes are at higher risk for heart problems.

Post-Bypass Angioplasty In Chennai
Understanding Post-Bypass Angioplasty
Post-bypass angioplasty, also referred to as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), is a medical procedure designed to address blockages or narrowing in the coronary arteries after bypass surgery. During this procedure, a catheter with a balloon at its tip is inserted into the affected artery, where the balloon is inflated to compress the plaque or blockage and restore blood flow. Stenting is commonly employed to keep the artery open, effectively enhancing blood flow to the heart muscle, alleviating symptoms, and reducing the risk of future cardiac complications.
Causes Leading to Post-Bypass Angioplasty
Several factors can necessitate post-bypass angioplasty, including:
Restenosis: This is the most common cause, where the treated artery narrows again over time due to the body’s healing response, often involving the proliferation of smooth muscle cells.
Lifestyle Factors: Unhealthy lifestyle choices such as smoking, a high-fat diet, insufficient physical activity, and chronic stress can contribute to recurrent arterial blockages after angioplasty.
Diabetes: Individuals with diabetes are at a higher risk, as the condition can accelerate atherosclerosis and impair the healing process.
Why Choose Dr. M. Kathiresan for Post-Bypass Angioplasty in Chennai
Selecting a highly qualified cardiologist is crucial for successful post-bypass angioplasty. Dr. M. Kathiresan, a renowned interventional cardiologist in Chennai, possesses extensive expertise in performing this procedure. Here are some compelling reasons to consider Dr. M. Kathiresan for your post-bypass angioplasty needs:
Minimally Invasive Techniques: Dr. Kathiresan specializes in advanced techniques that ensure a faster recovery for patients.
Comprehensive Care: From initial consultations to post-operative follow-ups, he provides personalized care throughout the treatment journey.
State-of-the-Art Technology: Utilizing the latest medical equipment, Dr. Kathiresan ensures that each procedure is performed safely and effectively.
Treatment Approach Post-Angioplasty
After post-bypass angioplasty, a comprehensive treatment plan is vital for optimal recovery and long-term heart health. Key components include:
Medications:
Antiplatelet agents: Such as aspirin or clopidogrel to prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of restenosis.
Statins: To lower cholesterol and mitigate atherosclerosis risk.
Beta-blockers: To manage blood pressure and reduce heart workload.
ACE inhibitors or ARBs: To control blood pressure and enhance heart function.
Nitrates: To manage angina.
Lifestyle Modifications:
Smoking Cessation: Stopping smoking is essential for maintaining heart health.
Weight Management: Maintaining a healthy weight reduces heart disease risk.
Stress Management: Finding effective stress-reduction strategies, such as yoga or meditation, is essential.
Cardiac Rehabilitation:
Structured exercise programs and educational support aid recovery and promote heart health.
Psychosocial Support:
Emotional support from family, friends, or mental health professionals can be beneficial.
Cost of Post-Bypass Angioplasty in Chennai
The cost of post-bypass angioplasty in Chennai typically ranges from ₹2 lakh to ₹4 lakh. Factors influencing the cost include:
Type of Stent: Drug-eluting stents tend to be pricier; however, they are effective in lowering the risk of re-blockage when compared to bare-metal stents.
Hospital Amenities: Premium facilities may charge higher fees for procedures and post-operative care.
Health Insurance: Most insurance plans cover a significant portion of angioplasty expenses, helping to alleviate financial concerns.
Patients are encouraged to consult hospitals for detailed package information and insurance coverage options.
Overview of the Procedure
Diagnostic Evaluation: Comprehensive assessments through imaging and tests to identify post-bypass issues.
Angioplasty Technique: A catheter is inserted into the blocked artery, and a balloon is inflated to widen it, with potential stent placement to maintain blood flow.
Guidance Technology: Advanced imaging aids precise navigation during the procedure.
Recovery and Monitoring: Patients are closely monitored post-procedure for recovery and potential complications.
Benefits of Post-Bypass Angioplasty
Post-bypass angioplasty offers several advantages, including:
Improved Blood Flow: The primary goal is to restore blood flow through narrowed or blocked grafts, alleviating symptoms like chest pain and enhancing heart function.
Symptom Relief: Patients can experience significant relief from chest pain and shortness of breath, improving their overall quality of life.
Reduced Risk of Future Heart Events: By enhancing blood flow and minimizing blockages, the procedure can lower the risk of future cardiac events, such as heart attacks or the need for repeat bypass surgery.
Risks Associated with Post-Bypass Angioplasty
Although post-bypass angioplasty is generally safe, potential risks include:
Infection: A rare risk at the catheter insertion site.
Bleeding: Minor bleeding may occur at the insertion site, but severe cases are uncommon.
Allergic Reactions: Some individuals may react to the contrast dye used during the procedure.
Steps Involved in Post-Bypass Angioplasty
Catheter Insertion: A catheter with a balloon is inserted through the groin or wrist and guided to the blocked artery.
Balloon Expansion: The catheter's balloon is inflated to expand the artery, facilitating improved blood flow.
Stent Insertion: A stent is typically positioned to maintain the artery's openness and reduce the risk of future blockages.
Post-Procedure Monitoring: Patients are monitored for complications and given medications to prevent clot formation.
This minimally invasive approach provides a quicker recovery compared to repeat bypass surgery.
Conclusion
Post-bypass angioplasty in Chennai is a crucial step in managing patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass surgery. It requires diligent monitoring and follow-up to ensure the procedure's success and the patient's long-term health. Adhering to prescribed medications and lifestyle changes is vital for maintaining the patency of grafts and preventing complications. Regular check-ups, including imaging studies and stress tests, are essential for evaluating cardiac health. Patient education and support play a significant role in promoting a heart-healthy lifestyle. For more details: https://drkathiresan.com/angioplasty-treatment-in-chennai

Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement (TMVR) Expert Doctor in Jaipur - Dr. Ravinder Singh Rao
Tumblr media
When it comes to advanced heart care, Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement (TMVR) is a cutting-edge procedure that is revolutionizing the treatment of mitral valve disease. In the city of Jaipur, one name stands out as a pioneer in this field – Dr. Ravinder Singh Rao. As a highly skilled and experienced cardiologist, Dr. Rao has earned a reputation as the go-to expert for TMVR procedures in Rajasthan and beyond.
What is Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement (TMVR)
TMVR is a minimally invasive procedure used to replace a diseased or dysfunctional mitral valve without the need for traditional open-heart surgery. The mitral valve plays a crucial role in the heart, controlling the flow of blood between the left atrium and left ventricle. When this valve becomes damaged or leaky, it can lead to serious heart conditions, including mitral regurgitation, heart failure, and arrhythmias.
In TMVR, a catheter is inserted through a small incision, usually in the groin, and guided to the heart. The damaged mitral valve is then replaced with a prosthetic valve, restoring normal blood flow and improving heart function. TMVR is especially beneficial for high-risk patients who may not be suitable candidates for conventional surgery.
Why Choose Dr. Ravinder Singh Rao for TMVR in Jaipur
Dr. Ravinder Singh Rao is one of the leading interventional cardiologists in Jaipur, with a focus on structural heart diseases. He is renowned for his expertise in performing Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement with precision and a high success rate. Below are some of the reasons why Dr. Rao is the preferred choice for patients seeking TMVR treatment:
1. Extensive Experience and Expertise
With years of experience in interventional cardiology, Dr. Ravinder Singh Rao has performed numerous TMVR procedures, helping countless patients regain their quality of life. His deep understanding of the complexities of mitral valve disease and his skill in utilizing the latest advancements in heart care make him one of the top experts in the country.
2. Cutting-Edge Technology and Techniques
Dr. Rao stays at the forefront of medical technology, utilizing the most advanced tools and techniques in transcatheter valve replacement. His state-of-the-art clinic in Jaipur is equipped with the latest diagnostic and surgical equipment, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care.
3. Personalized Patient Care

4. High Success Rate
The success rate of TMVR procedures performed by Dr. Ravinder Singh Rao is exceptionally high, thanks to his meticulous attention to detail and expertise in handling even the most complex cases. His track record of successful outcomes has made him a trusted name among patients and referring physicians alike.
Who Can Benefit from TMVR?
TMVR is typically recommended for patients who suffer from severe mitral regurgitation or mitral valve disease and are considered high-risk for traditional open-heart surgery. These patients may include:
Elderly individuals with multiple health conditions
Patients with previous heart surgeries
Patients with weakened heart function
Dr. Rao carefully evaluates each patient to determine if they are a suitable candidate for TMVR. The minimally invasive nature of the procedure makes it an attractive option for patients who are looking for a less invasive solution with a faster recovery time.
The TMVR Procedure: What to Expect
For patients undergoing TMVR with Dr. Ravinder Singh Rao, the journey begins with a thorough assessment and diagnostic tests to evaluate the condition of the mitral valve and overall heart health. Dr. Rao takes the time to explain the procedure in detail, addressing any concerns and ensuring that the patient is fully prepared.
During the procedure, a catheter is inserted through a small incision in the leg and guided through the blood vessels to the heart. The damaged mitral valve is replaced with a prosthetic valve, which immediately begins to regulate blood flow. The entire procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and patients typically spend a short time in the hospital for recovery.
Benefits of TMVR
Minimally invasive, no need for open-heart surgery
Shorter hospital stay and recovery time
Reduced risk of complications
Effective for high-risk patients
Post-TMVR Care and Recovery
Recovery after TMVR is generally faster and easier compared to traditional mitral valve surgery. Patients are closely monitored for a short period in the hospital and can usually resume normal activities within a few weeks. Dr. Rao provides comprehensive post-operative care, including follow-up visits to ensure that the new valve is functioning properly and that the patient is on the road to recovery.
Follow-Up Care
After the procedure, regular follow-up appointments are crucial to monitor the patient’s progress. Dr. Rao ensures that every patient receives the necessary guidance on lifestyle changes, medication management, and heart health to maintain optimal outcomes.
Why Early Treatment of Mitral Valve Disease is Crucial
Mitral valve disease, particularly mitral regurgitation, can lead to serious complications if left untreated. Symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and swelling in the legs can worsen over time, eventually leading to heart failure or other life-threatening conditions. Early detection and treatment are essential to prevent the progression of the disease.
Dr. Rao emphasizes the importance of timely intervention, especially for patients experiencing severe symptoms. With TMVR, many patients can avoid the risks associated with delayed treatment and enjoy a better quality of life.
Consultation and Appointment with Dr. Ravinder Singh Rao
If you or a loved one is experiencing symptoms of mitral valve disease, or if you have been diagnosed with mitral regurgitation, it’s important to consult a specialist as soon as possible. Dr. Ravinder Singh Rao, the leading TMVR expert in Jaipur, offers consultations to evaluate your condition and recommend the most appropriate treatment options.
