Basketball bad boys, anyone?

Yeah, so these are my Kirisaki Daiichi redesigns. The uncrowned kings and their respective squads have all the fun potential and I intend to use it.

Kirisaki Daiichi and Hanamiya being the most slept on team for character design of them all because you can’t make a canonical “bad boy” team and not have them be emo, goth, and punk for the funsies. For the visual “pen egg chest qua” (je ne sais quoi). For the fun, stereotypical edgelord flair we all deserve to indulge in every now and then.

Makoto’s og design simply didn’t scream spider enough for me and I was tired of so many key characters having this longish, same shade of black hair (him, Himuro, Mibuchi, etc). Like, I know giving the black and brown a colored tint can subtract from the uniqueness of the GOM, but not even a little? So, yeah, fuck allat, I’m using desaturated colors every now and then.

I also loved drawing Makoto in some casual clothes and much needed drip. Villains are required to serve most. I wanted to draw the rest of them in some casual outfits because trust Kojiro and honestly all of them dress immaculately but life and time restraints. Maybe later.

Story wise, each player and Makoto maybe have their own reasons for turning to hurting others through basketball and I hope you catch some of the story threads I threw in. Whether or not they deserve or have the capacity to change is entirely up to you all with Makoto having the most potential to be entirely complex or cartoonishly evil (I like both). I’m a sucker for a bit of character complexity and things that leave room for interpretation.

Casual Kiridai still hits, especially now that I know the first image exists

How'd you think kiridai, haizaki, imayoshi, nash and jason would use insta? (I know it isn't popular in Japan but still)

Hanamiya Makoto

his account used to be public but he made it private after getting fed up of having to delete comments like “you scumbag you broke my friend’s ribs rot in hell” from his posts which were just cute pictures of the kiridai cat (yes i’m bringing this ancient headcanon back) 

so now he only allows follows from people he knows and trusts which means literally just the kiridai team, imayoshi, maybe a couple classmates, and his mum 

and then within that circle, he has the other kiridai boys on his close friends list and they’re the ones who see the stories that ‘reveal his true nature’ 

like hanamiya sees that someone who played against him has made a post about their journey going through shoulder rehab (no guessing who gave them their shoulder issues), so he reposts that post to his close friends story with the caption “time for a round two?”

meanwhile the posts his mum sees are just pictures of the kiridai cat or pages from some books he’s been reading recently

(n.b. hanamiya’s mum very rarely uses instagram. she only uses the account to keep up with family members, and only made it in the first place because hanamiya had just made his and she wanted to make sure he didn’t get cyberbullied. 

meanwhile her son is the one who has been repeatedly suspended from instagram for bullying.)

Hara Kazuya

has a lot of accounts and if not for the fact that he has basketball and other hobbies he would be chronically online

so there’s one main account which has just a couple photos that make him look cool (a photo of him dunking, or him drumming with good lighting) and occasionally he’ll post a picture on his stories of the city under a dawn sky and a note of the time so everyone knows he’s out grinding streetball at stupid o’clock. 

the main account is his only public account and he only really has it so that, if anyone (family friends, basketball players from other schools) search him up, those curated posts are all they’ll see. he only posts that occasional story in order to see if anyone’s been stalking him.

then there’s the finsta which is what he’s most active on. he posts several times a week on this account and the posts are all either 1) shitposts and memes that make little to no sense, 2) pictures of fellow kiridai members at very bad angles, or 3) photos from matches that he wants to mock, like a picture of kiyoshi’s face in agony as his knee got broken with the caption “tfw tanaka-sensei sets a pop quiz.”

and finally hara has his assortment of troll accounts, most of which he uses to pretend to be a high school girl living in the general Tokyo area so that he can catfish classmates when he’s bored. 

hara has so many of these accounts that he’s created a cinematic universe of his own with elaborate storylines about the tumultuous friendships between these non-existent girls. they’ve become kiridai’s answer to d&d whenever the boys are bored.

plus these catfish accounts have now become strategic. several of the ‘girls’ are in talking stages, and even online relationships with, basketball players from other schools. this means that a) hara can get intel from the players and b) as soon as any important match comes around, he breaks up with/ghosts the guy, in the hope that it’ll make them place worse.

it goes without saying that it was hanamiya who invented this innovative technique of psychological warfare but hara’s the one who puts the hours in - to the point where it would be a little suspicious how well he can pretend to be a teen girl in love if not for the shit-eating grin on his face whenever he goes through his collection of screenshots of messages begging “her” to take them back

Furuhashi Kojiro 

has two Instagram accounts

account number one is the one his teammates/family/friends follow. it’s a private account that he doesn’t use very much apart from liking friends’ posts. he has a few photos on there, but mostly photos of scenery from holidays

account number two is public, with around 10k followers. it’s completely anonymous and no one irl knows he has it. this account posts quite regularly and every post is an aesthetic picture either of his plants or what he’s baked recently. and when i say aesthetic, i mean aesthetic: the perfect warm lighting and usually some berries or something framing the centrepiece of the photo. 

the captions are usually quite short and wholesome: “making melonpan can be difficult but i find the challenge refreshing” “when the days become stressful, i turn to these larch bonsai to remind myself to stand tall” “i am trying a new macaroon recipe. may it bring great riches.”

he’s also started posting some reels on this account, mostly timelapses of bread rising or plants growing etc

furu uses very few hashtags but somehow still gets super high engagement. his followers adore him and have collectively assumed he’s a fem lesbian living in the countryside somewhere with her beloved girlfriend. (furuhashi naturally never corrects anyone because he wants to keep it anonymous.) the comments are all “cottagecore queen” “i owe all my mental health to you” “the only unproblematic account on Instagram” 

so yeah, on instagram, furu is considered an angel

Jason Silver

this man has not posted a single photo where he is not shirtless

and his stories are like 30% videos from streetball practice and 70% thirst traps which he pretends he’s posting to show his gains... but everyone knows he’s just posting them to try attract the three women who followed him back

his following is around 50% ‘baddies’, 45% nba players, and 5% friends and a few streetballers that he’s played against before

(he follows very few streetballers because he thinks it’s beneath him to follow losers and see how they’re improving. he’s so good at basketball he has no need for that, duh.)

(in reality he has no need to stalk prospective opponents because nash does it for him.)

also actually headcanon that most of jason’s posts are videos of him breaking the hoop while dunking or just generally basketball action shots, because jason can’t pose in front of a camera to save his life

you can’t blame him really - that’s a lot of man to fit in one small lens

Haizaki Shougo

no profile photo, no posts: 100% anonymous account. man just uses his Instagram account to get material to jerk off too - pretty much every single account he follows is of an onlyfans model. (he would still be following some female classmates and kise’s ex girlfriend if not for the fact that they’ve all blocked him.)

in the end, haizaki has no friends to interact with and no aesthetic life he can post about, so why would be bother having a more social instagram

added bonus of the anonymous account is that he can use it to stalk others - and he does like his stalking. 

sometimes he stalks the gom’s accounts, and he tells himself it’s just to make fun of them being desperate for likes or looking pretentious, but really he gets a “what could have been” feeling from scrolling through all the photos (and it hurts -- especially seeing videos of them playing together like back in middle school.)

and sometimes haizaki stalks his fukuda sogo teammates. again, he tells himself it’s just to mock them, and he’ll see photos of them hanging out together and be like “what fucking losers who would want to be seen with them.” but there’s a little pang of loneliness in his heart all the same.

Yamazaki Hiroshi

has had the same instagram account since he was 10 and he never deletes or archives any posts so if you scroll far down enough, you’ll find videos of pre-pubescent him and hara doing ‘parkour’ (literally just jumping over benches and off swings) or those chain posts like “share this with five friends or you’ll be haunted forever.)

zaki’s is a private account with a couple hundred followers - his teammates obviously but also family, cousins, some classmates, some of hara’s catfish accounts, and even a couple fellow high school basketballers from distant enough teams that they somehow haven’t realised that zaki is a member of the infamous kiridai. 

he posts semi-regularly and mostly just very normal, mundane posts - photos from family holidays, a tasty udon noodle bowl he had the other day and maybe the occasional streetball photo (typically with one of the kiridai boys in the frame instead of zaki – zaki’s not a huge fan of photos of himself)

zaki’s feed is mostly hara’s shitposts and also streaming clips from his various video games, and if you do ever see his account in the ‘wild’, it will be him backing up hara’s finsta after hara made a particularly outrageous comment somewhere

because a real friendship takes two people: Person 1 who just stirs shit up, and Person 2 who defends Person 2’s shit-stirring by cursing out every commenter who criticises them

Renga Fantasy AU

I've seen lost of fantasy Au's with Langa being the prince and Reki either the cute gardener, the adorable captain of the army, or any other common role that will be the prince's love interest... but what about Prince Reki?

I can see it like this:

Joe is the head of the cook and Reki's paternal figure number #1.

Cherry is the first advisor of the royal family and Reki's paternal figure #2.

Shadow is a guard and probably Reki's main bodyguard, he acts like he is annoyed by Reki's too energic and loud personality but in reality he is a big softie and has a weakness for the young and gentle prince, he is Reki's older sibling figure.

Miya is the son of a noble family, probably training for either being court sorcerer or knight, he is Reki's closest friend despite being younger, he sees Reki as his old brother and is very protective of him because in his opinion (and in everybody else's opinion for that matter) the redhead is too nice for his own good and someone needs to take care of him for god's sake! Of course he will deny it for ever and still be the tsundere he is.

Langa can be the son of a merchant and a doctor from another kingdom, after his dad dies his mother decides to go back to her home in the Kyan's kingdom (Okinawa), because of her reputation as a good doctor she gets a job in the palace as court physician. Langa stays with her at the palace and he could be either training for knight, physician or maybe sorcerer too but he hasn't decided yet, or even training for advisor under Cherry's wing. For the time being he just study with Reki.

Now in this au's Prince Langa main trouble is he feeling lonely or incomplete, Reki being the sun he is complement him and his trouble is of course his self confidence, I want to keep it that way even if Reki is the prince now.

So Langa feel not sad anymore but definitely off since his dad died, he used to love traveling with him, try new things, he loved the most all the things he could learn from the items he got to sell, he wanted to be a merchant like him but now he is not sure anymore, that's why that for now he is just studying along with the prince as he decides what he want to do with his life, he is not unhappy but he can't help but feel there is something missing, that's it until he meets the ray of sunshine that is Prince Reki, the royal is gentle and unlike other royal member he has met (due both if his parents jobs) he doesn't treat the rest with superiority, he traits everyone the same, with kindness, a warm and genuine smile, he actually doesn't act like how he was taught princes are supposed to act, he is loud and very energetic, he is polite and all, but he doesn't emanate an aura of someone to be afraid off or someone you feel intimidate with, he makes you feel like you are with a friend, he will talk and talk enthusiastically to no end... unless you show him you were bored, which was not rare to happen, with the prince being too kind and easygoing is was easy for others to forget he was the prince. But Langa could hear him for hours and never get bored, Reki showed him the palace and different places of the kingdom, he show him his drawings, all his crafts, the prince was incredible with smithy, he designed most of the best warriors' armors, as well as some of the innovative artifacts that helped so much in the kingdom, he showed him his passion for his realm and his passion for his hobbies, he was amazing... it's such a shame the prince is not capable to see it himself.

Reki for his part, he is the genius, creative sunshine we know. He is energetic and almost all the people loves him. Almost, because there is still the royal and nobles assholes that think he won't be a proper ruler because of his personality. As well as the people that get fed up with his energy. Those all are the people less liked in the kingdom. Though is really a trouble that the royal ones hold such power, because they really chose violence when it comes to Reki's self confidence. Especially because the most deep root for his insecurities comes from no other than his passed away father.

The king was... not a good man, the kingdom was not in ruins but the people were not happy, his family was not either, he would lash out to his wife and daughters, telling them they were good just to show of, to serve him, he was abusive with this staff on the palace and to his people, but who got the worst treatment was the young prince, since a child Reki was unquiet, loud, energic, totally the opposite to a centered, reserved and serious prince, he was also too kind with everyone no matter how much he told him he was above all the people, but Reki refused to be rude or mean to anyone, the only people that he lashed out to were the rude and cruel royals that abused of their power and were mean to people with no status or power. The king ruled with an iron fist and with stronger severity he tried to rise his heir, but Reki's golden heart was always stronger, however it didn't protected him from the abuse, the hard punishments and the constant reminders of how a failure he was, how he was worthless, how he was a mistake, how easy it would be for him to replace him if not were for the fact he needed a boy of royal blood to be his heir and he had no one, how annoying he was, that there was something wrong with him. And all the people that thought the same as his father had no seconds thoughts to remind him of the same in every. Single. Opportunity.

It was such a relief when the king died from a mysterious illness, and if anyone ever thought about it as a coup from the queen and the royal staff? Well nobody blamed them, but that was just a rumor and they were fine without him anyways.

Indeed, after the king's death the Kingdome went through a prosperity that haven't been seen in years. Despite what the king and his lackyes believed the Queen was actually a very well skilled ruler, she fixed the mess her former husband made and bring a new era to her people, she made new allies, she cleaned the corrupted government and brought new opportunities to the kingdom of Okinawa, the people were happy again. And her son, his ideas for artifacts to make certain tasks easier, his enthusiasm about cultural development, not mention that despite what his father said Reki was really smart, a total pride for his tutors even if his chaotic nature gave them green hairs, also his ideas to improve the army of the Kingdome, his ideas helped a lot to their realm's development. Many people called him the inventor prince.

However there were some royal asses that were not happy with him, there were invertors for that, there were artists, musicians, artisans for the cultural things, a prince shouldn't be look being so friendly and informal to commoners, shouldn't be so loud and idiot.

Not to mention the people that just... were fed up with his chit chat, and okay, they get it, Reki's personality could be overwhelming and even obnoxious to some people, but they needed to be so rude about it? The fact that must of this people were royal visitors didn´t help at all, Reki just felt he was embarrassing his mother and the Kingdome, no matter how many time she and the royal advisor Kaoru told him otherwise, or the fact that those people were usually not good allies at all.

Years of abuse and constantly hearing how a waste you were are hard to heal.

But, the love and support of the people that truly loved him helped Reki a lot, it was a long path but he was getting there. Though, the person that were really close to him, and you know who these persons are, know that sometimes the thoughts gets too loud on Reki's head, but they are there for him, and are happy to see that everyday the sunshine prince is doing better and better.

Well, and then of course the boys met and all of that, they help each other to find what was missing, to discover how much loved and worth they are.

The Queen and the court physician ship them, because this is my fucking au and I say love is love, you are who you are, no labels :)

Kaoru, Kojiro, Miya and Hiromi are definitely fondly exasperate with their mutual pining and just want them to just kiss already and spare their poor souls out of their misery.

About Ad*m... I don't know yet honestly.

In one hand I'm so tempted to make him not existing in this au. On the other hand he could be a major villain, maybe a lord wanting to make coup to the kingdome with Tadashi being a spy loyal to Queen Kyan. And I really want Langa to beat the shit out if him for messing up with his sun, but well, idk.

Pairing Dynamics of Hanamiya + Kiridai

Inspired by how in the “best pair” ranking in Kurofes, it specifically said that there were a lot of votes for pairs involving Hanamiya and the rest of Kiridai. So I’m just gonna ramble about them with some headcanons.

Furuhashi - Hanamiya

My most favorite

Everyone in Kiridai isn’t too fazed by Hanamiya’s anger. At least his “baseline anger”, cause we’ve seen even Furuhashi being surprised by Hanamiya being especially angry. 

 But I just love Furuhashi’s overall cool-collected demeanor to Hanamiya’s short fuse in particular.

My favorite genre of images (the anime versions are cute but I think I prefer the manga ones overall)

When Hanamiya was first building up the starter lineup and sizing up the team members, Hanamiya acknowledged Furuhashi’s skills as a basketball player but  was especially drawn in by the dark aura Furuhashi gave off and the glint in Furuhashi’s dead-eyes, with Furuhashi being the most eager to give rough play a try.

Other players were reluctant about it, but Furuhashi was all in at the start.

 Hanamiya was impressed by how much of a natural Furuhashi was at it

And also amused by the way Furuhashi purposely acts obtuse about it when confronted.

Furuhashi is the most onboard with it and is willing to try any “new methods” Hanamiya suggests, including the “finger snaps” ones.

They have a mutually beneficial relationship. Hanamiya benefits from Furuhashi’s willingness to participate in his methods, and Furuhashi gets to satiate his sadistic needs.

Furuhashi is a comforting calm presence for Hanamiya. 

Though he can be a tad annoyed with how Furuhashi doesn’t really mince words or will call out his bullshit without hesitating (with the same monotone voice lol) Source: The Kiridai epilogue.

Seto - Hanamiya

Self explanatory but still sweet.

Canonically understands Hanamiya the most.

Seto’s the one person in the group that Hanamiya can in some way, let his guard down 

Not overtly sappy but since Seto’s the one who can come close to understanding Hanamiya’s mind, Hanamiya is more willing to drop a pinch of vulnerability.

With Hanamiya’s “Did you really think I’d say that, idiot?” moments, Seto can catch on the times where there was some truth to Hanamiya’s “lie”

I like to think Seto and Hanamiya had a similar first interaction as Imayoshi and Hanamiya did back in junior high, where Imayoshi was the first to catch on to Hanamiya's fake goody two shoes act (see chapter 6 of Replace V).

Except unlike Imayoshi, Seto was never condescending. And Seto’s reason for catching on wasn’t based on some cynical belief like “there’s no such thing as a good person”, Seto’s just not stupid.

And of course, Hanamiya addressing Seto by his first name….cute

The crumbs we got in the 10th anniversary disc were honestly so cute, so glad we got to hear “Kentaro” from Hanamiya again.

Yamazaki - Hanamiya

This one is cute to me. I love how chill Yamazaki is with Hanamiya

He just has this grin whenever he interacts with him

Hanamiya is put off by Yamazaki’s abrasiveness and honestly had some doubts about adding him to the starting lineup, with him being either reluctant or too obvious with the roughplay when he gave it a try. He had some concerns about Yamazaki being too much of a goody two shoes.

But his basketball skills were enough, more than enough even. 

Especially with Hanamiya clearing putting more focus on the team’s “foundational skills”, post-Seirin v. Rakuzan, which I believe Yamazaki has the most of (aside from Hanamiya himself)

Hanamiya has mixed feelings overall about Yamazaki, but had eventually grown accustomed to this presence, enough to a point where it would be odd if he wasn’t there.

Even though Yamazaki can be a pain in the ass who enjoys pushing his buttons a bit too much.

Hara - Hanamiya

Sad we don’t really have much canon interactions between them. I believe it was just in the manga, where Hanamiya yelled at him and Yamazaki, but even then it was moreso at Yamazaki.

Mentioned this in a prior post, but Hara and Hanamiya tag team with their respective positions in the Health and Disciplinary committees

Holding these positions allows the Kiridai basketball club to keep the rough-play hush hush from the school, as they can circumvent any reports that may come in.

This goes with my headcanon that they practice their rough play on the third-string players, and some of them want to report them. But are met with threats from both Hanamiya and Hara.

Like Furuhashi, Hara was eager to participate in the rough play. But less for sadistic reasons and moreso to piss off people. Either way, this made things easier for Hanamiya.

Hara teases Hanamiya like everyone else but is loyal to him (and the rest of the team but probably wouldn’t admit it.)

When Hanamiya needs “something done”, Hara’s the one he’ll ask. And Hara would normally comply without question.

I completely subscribe to Hara calling Hanamiya “boss” or “sir”

Although Hanamiya can be annoyed by them, having to reel them in at times, both Yamazaki and Hara are comforting presences in their own way. He doesn’t realize it but he needs their spunk to balance things out.

He would realize  this if the two of them were gone for a while, and it becomes “annoyingly quiet”.

“Can’t live with them, can’t live without them” kind of thing.

kiridai + haizaki if they were dog owners attending a puppy class

Hanamiya Makoto

Bought a breed that needs good socialisation (I’m thinking a serious police lines Dutch Shepherd cause he’d want something with brains and drive but also something not “normie” as a Malinois) so puppy class it is to get the dog amiable around others.

The dog acts like it’s perfectly trained half the time: just a couple months old and already has perfect focus, and obviously Hanamiya goes above and beyond with training in his spare time, so the dog responds to cues perfectly, and Hanamiya has perfect timing with marking and rewarding behaviours because he’s just that sort of person

The other half of the time, the dog is kicking off because another puppy looked at them. 

And the trainer’s telling Hanamiya just to relax, shorten up his leash a bit, take a deep breath, but they can see his eyes just glazing over with fury every time the barking starts up again.

It hurts having to alternate between “Hanamiya, can you and [dog] demonstrate this behaviour because [dog] does it perfectly” and “right, someone will go get a barrier to calm [dog] down a bit” but Hanamiya’s going to have to get used to it, because that’s what you buy with an police lines import. 

The dog is always going to be a bit nuts, just like his owner ;) 

(Don’t choose a serious dog breed for clout as a first time owner, how about that Makoto?)

Seto Kentaro 

For Seto, I’m thinking he buys a small lapdog type terrier, maybe an English toy terrier, or maybe an English bulldog (although obviously I don’t recommend buying a breed with as many health issues as the English bulldog, and I’m pretty sure Seto would at least do the research on that sort of thing) 

Anyway, Seto’s the biggest guy with the smallest dog

Like when the puppy takes its mid-class snooze, he curls up on Seto’s shoe and he’s half the size of his owner’s foot. 

The main issue that they need to work on is separation anxiety; because Seto never really goes anywhere, the poor dog’s expects his owner to be with him all the time. So if Seto needs to go to the toilet and hands someone the leash, the poor puppy is just stood there whining sadly Seto’s back. He’s just too used to having his 6ft4 guardian with him at all times. 

Anyhow, Seto’s a weird one to teach because he’s not the world’s best dog trainer - he tends to be quite casual about everything, and he’s not hugely strict so in turn the dog’s quite 50/50 about actually following commands. (Think Seto saying “down”, puppy just staring at him while wagging his tail like mad and not making any move to lie down, until Seto’s like, “fuck it, you’re too cute for your own good” and gives him the treat anyway)

But the thing is, despite this half-hearted attitude to training, Seto knows the theory like it’s no one’s business. The trainer will offer him some advice and  Seto’s like “oh, so just using the Premack Principle?” or “so just conditioning more cut-off signals while they’re still sub-threshold?” 

Like, yes but how do you know those words? Spend less time reading and more time working your dog please

(And please join me in imagining the trainer telling Seto to call his dog away with kissy sounds or a high-pitched voice, rather than pulling on the leash, and the sheer awkwardness on Seto’s face as he attempts his best baby voice.)

Yamazaki Hiroshi

Thought he wanted a proper working lines dog (some sort of spaniel breed probably) because he read on the internet that they’re healthier and “perfect for [his] active lifestyle” but he didn’t realise how much work a working line dog needs and now he’s come to the puppy class in desperate need of help. 

Dark circles under his eyes and his hands are permanently covered in cuts and scars from those sharp little puppy teeth

Yamazaki’s the guy who’s always absent-mindedly petting his dog even when the trainer tells him not to while working on a certain behaviour

Yamazaki’s also that guy who’s always taking notes after class, always asking questions (comes back every week like “about the biting...”), and he always does his homework, so his dog shows the most improvement by the end of the course

He gets the little graduation certificate and he’s trying to bite back the happy/proud tears (meanwhile the dog’s trying its damnedest to get a hold of the certificate and rip it to shreds)

Furuhashi Kojiro

He’s just a good conscientious owner who did all the research before he bought his puppy, and has been training them from the beginning and figured a puppy class was the right thing to do just in case

(N.B. I have absolutely no idea what kind of dog Furu would want cause, in my mind, he’s normally a cat person. But I’m assuming that a rare and quiet breed that’s not the most clingy would be right up Furu’s alley, so Kishu Ken it is.)  

Honestly Furu rocks up to the puppy class and both his and the puppy’s minds are a bit blown: Furuhashi’s because he didn’t realise how little everyone else had trained their puppies, and the puppy’s because it’s gone from being used to life with its quiet owner in a quiet house going on quiet walks to a classroom surrounded by lots of other very excited dogs

But the puppy soon settles, as does Furuhashi, and for the most part, their time at the puppy classes goes quite smoothly 

(As it often does if people just do their homework between classes)

The only time they have any issues is in any exercise where Furuhashi has to be a bit more animate

Like an exercise where you make your voice and body language all excited to get the dog riled up so they can learn to calm down as soon as you calm down: Furuhashi’s idea of “getting excited” is one small awkward and a monotone “good puppy”

Meanwhile the puppy’s staring at him like “he’s a bit boring, but he’s my bit boring”

(And on a separate note, Furuhashi definitely ends up bringing his sister to some of classes. She’s still staying with their parents, who won’t let her get a dog, so she’s living vicariously through Furu’s dog ownership. And, Furu being the good big brother that he is, only encourages her interests. So if she wants to be around puppies more, he takes her to the classes. And if she’s getting bored, he hands her his puppy’s leash so that she can do the exercises and get the trainer’s guidance instead of him.)

Hara Kazuya

The dog is Hara’s partner’s/friend’s, but Hara comes along for moral support and to play with the other puppies before the class starts

Actually, you know what, we’ll say this is an older characters AU where Yamazaki and Hara are roommates and he’s come with Zaki and his lunatic spaniel

Hara takes the “class” in “puppy class” seriously, and by that I mean he acts like a class clown as if he’s still in school - he views a successful class as a class where he makes the trainer laugh at least once, and flirts with one of the assistants at least once

Zaki’s probably wondering why he asked Hara to come because now, every time a puppy starts barking, Hara’s whispering in their ear “Hanamiya when someone tells him to be nice”; or a puppy pees all over the floor and then it’s “you after a night out”

Having said that, Hara’s also a great training tool cause puppies love him and he always gets them very over-excited 

So, when the homework was working on your puppies not jumping up on people, the trainer gets Hara to be the guinea pig, cause he’s the ultimate test

Haizaki Shougo 

Probably only attending the classes because he was court ordered to be there or something after his dog’s already showing dangerous behaviour - Haizaki’s the kind of owner who could screw up a puppy, but he’s also the kind who buys a puppy who’s probably genetically screwed up

He falls for those horrid guard breed puppy ads online (you know the ones - with the pictures of barking dogs Photoshopped into flames or whatever and with the caption like “UNREAL DRIVE!! CRAZY STRUCTURE!! SUPER PROTECTIVE!! buy your bundle of joy from us today, perfect for a first time owner <3)

(In case you don’t know what I mean, think something like this)

Anyway so Haizaki gets a Presa Canario, maybe a bully, or maybe a Tosa Inu cause he’s in Japan and, if anyone in KNB is interested in dog fighting, it’s Haizaki because he’s just not a great person

Haizaki rocks up to classes very reluctantly and could not care less about them

He keeps letting the leash get too long so his puppy keeps getting in the other dog’s faces and upsetting them; he’s on his phone half the time; and he just doesn’t take on board any advice

For example the trainer talks to him about loose leash walking and Haizaki just zones out - cause in his mind, there’s no point putting the effort in to train them when he’s a big guy who can easily hold back even a 40kg dog

So the trainer thinks Haizaki’s pretty much a lost cause, poor dog, etc

But then, one fateful day, when the dog’s barking their head off for the thousandth time, the trainer gives Haizaki a tip and it works! 

And something clicks in Haizaki’s brain and he realises he doesn’t have to put up with his dog being a ‘nuisance’ - he can just put some effort in and train them and make life happier for the both of them

After that things are much smoother sailing and Haizaki actually starts engaging with the class and asking the trainer for advice on the (many) other issues the dog has

It takes a while for Haizaki and the puppy to graduate out of the class, just because of all the damage that needs undoing, but the fact that Haizaki sticks around, even after his court-ordered time is up, is already good news 

The dog will never be 100% in certain environments but at least they walk nicely for the most part and knows some commands

And it’s safe to say that, when Haizaki spots the dog trainer a few months later, they’re the first teacher that Haizaki’s ever stopped to say hello to

He won't admit it when he's jealous 

But there's no need to cuz it's very obvious that he is

He'll be kinda shy and awkward about it since he doesn't really know what to do in situations like these

Most of the time, it's never anything serious and can always be solved with a tight hug and a few words of reassurance

On the small chance that he actually really is jealous…

He'll try to spend as much time with you as possible 

He'll practically drag you all around the city just to be alone with you

When he's jealous, everyone would know immediately

He'll either get really pouty or aggressively affectionate

Furuhashi isn't one to easily get jealous

In the rare case that he actually does, he'll be very quiet about it

He’ll basically become more possessive of you

As if he isn't very possessive already 

If he's actually really jealous, he'll step up his PDA game a bit

You both watched about four movies in total since he was there. After dinner, you both went back to your room. You got on your bed, and he sat beside you again.

“So, how is basketball?” You asked, tilting your head.

“Eh, it’s okay. Ever since we lost, we have constantly been practicing.”

“I see; it must be rough.”

“Yeah, that is why we are looking for a manager,” Yamazaki said. You were surprised since Hanamiya seemed like the type to want to do everything himself.

“Really?”

“Yeah, on that note. I was wondering if you wanted to be our manager?” He asked, turning his entire body towards you. Your eyes widened as you looked over at him, and you quickly shook your head.

“N-No way~.”

“Why not?”

“I-uhm-”

“Is it because of how we play?”

“Well, yeah… and Hanamiya kinda scares me,” you looked down, hugging your stuffed animal. Yamazaki rubbed his neck and looked off to the side.

“Can I be honest with you?”

“Sure~ won’t change my mind, though.” You said, and he chuckled slightly.

“Well, he wouldn’t do anything to hurt you deliberately… I don’t think. Maybe, okay, he is sadistic. So I can’t guarantee that, but it was his and Hara’s idea.”

“You didn’t help your case none, at all.”

“Yeah, I know. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I just can’t even attempt to lie to you,” he said. You laughed, and he cracked a small smile before pulling you close. A slight blush was on your cheeks, but you allowed him to pull you on top of his chest as he laid down. You both began to cuddle, and you fell quiet, closing your eyes. You only opened them again when he started to speak again.

“Please? For me? It would mean we are together again, and I can walk you home all the time.”

“Zaki, I don’t feel comfortable. Plus, a lot of schools hate you guys. What if I become the target? I am not much of a fighter,”

“I will protect you; the basketball team will protect you.”

“But~” you trailed off when Yamazaki cupped your cheeks slightly.

“You have nothing to worry about. I promise,” he said. You met his eyes, and a blush covered your cheeks before sighing softly.

“I need to think about it,”

“Mm, okay, but try and come up with an answer by tomorrow. Or else Hanamiya is going to ask you himself,” he warned.

“Huh?”

“He already said if I couldn’t convince you. He would.”

“Oh, uhm…” You trailed off and hid your face in his chest. He tightened his arms around you and placed a small kiss on your head. The action caused your cheeks to heat up. You pulled your head up from his chest and looked at him, surprised. He had that typical boyish grin on his face. He couldn’t help but admire how innocent and cute you looked from his action.

“What was that for?”

“What?”

“The kiss?”

“Just a friendly gesture, unless you want it to mean more,” he teased. You slapped his chest, huffing with a bluff.

“Idiot, you can’t do that.”

“Yes, we can; it’s not like it was on the lips. It was on the head; friends do it all the time.”

“So, you and the basketball team do it?”

“Hell no,”

“I thought friends did it.”

“Basketball team is teammates, not necessarily friends. Me and you, we are friends,” he said. You rolled your eyes, but he cupped your face and brought it down to him.

“H-Hiroshi~ stop….” You said, and he laughed, letting your face go.

“Sorry, sorry. It’s so fun to tease you, though, you just turn so red, and it’s a cute look.”

“I hate you,” you huffed. You rolled off of him and turned your back to him. He wrapped his arms around you, holding you to his chest.

“Don’t be mad; I am sorry.”

“Fine…”

You both fell quiet again, and you leaned into his hold. Cuddling was a thing you guys always did, but it has been a while since he held you like this. You felt your heart race a bit as he nuzzled his face into your back.

“I missed this. Can we make this normal again?”

“Yeah, whenever you aren’t busy.”

“Alright, every Friday and when my parents aren’t home, and I spend the night.”

“Deal.”

You turned to face him, and he smiled at you before closing his eyes. You did the same, and you both began to drift off to sleep.

Your mother knocked on the door two hours later to let Yamazaki know the spare room was ready. When she got no answer, she walked in and covered her mouth at the most adorable sight before her. Your head was on his chest, and he held you protectively to him. She took a picture of you two and sent it to his mom. She was definitely, going to frame this and hang it on the wall of many memories. She quietly shut the door, not even bothering to wake them up. After all, she watched Yamazaki grow up and knew she could trust him.

The following day, your phone went off, and you let a small yawn out. You buried your face into the warmth that surrounded you. Arms tightened around your waist, and your eyes slowly opened as the alarm was shut off. You looked up and met the sleepy eyes of your neighbor and close friend.

“How did you sleep?”

“I slept good, you?” You asked, slowly getting up, but he pulled you back down. He didn’t let you go and sighed softly.

“I want to sleep longer, can’t we be late? Or skip?”

“No, my mom would kill us both.”

“Fair, your mom can be terrifying if bad choices are made.”

You both got up, and he went to the spare bedroom to get ready for school, and you did the same.
