the Isaac-Danny-Paul dynamic is sooo compelling to me I can’t stop thinking about it, like!! Isaac manipulates Danny and keeps him under his thumb and acts like he’s always doing favors and taking care of him, and Danny sort of wants to ingratiate himself into this dynamic, but mostly he sees Paul as his team, his responsibility. Paul is his person. In episode 4, Danny’s so so angry at Paul but he’s still trying to protect him, he’s still trying to de-escalate Isaac’s violence up until the moment that Paul puts Danny and Isaac on the same level (“when you guys die, literally no one will care”), and that’s when Danny lashes out. Even when he’s won the battle with Isaac, even when he’s played him and gotten everything he wanted, Danny can’t help but re-create that dynamic, demanding Paul tell him everything while lying to him “for his own good,” telling Paul he’s responsible for the house and then “forgiving” him for it, acting like they’re equals when Danny still has to be on top, to be in charge, to be correct. he just wanted them to be the same but he can’t let them be equals!!!!! He can’t relinquish his control until every other option has been spent and then it’s too late!!!! It’s so sad!!!! it’s so real!!!!
