♠️♥️High Card Short Story 9 “Dear You, Our Customer” (1/1)♦️♣️
(Scrapped version of limited SS distributed at s1e01-12 theater screening.)

Welcome to Pinochle Automobiles, Old Maid branch office. As for a reservation.....I understand. Please, make yourself comfortable in this seat over here.
Pleased to make your acquaintance. My name is Symons, the office manager. For starters, would you prefer coffee or tea?
Unfortunately, all of our employees are currently out of the office, therefore I will be the one tending to you. Are you looking for a car today?
So that’s not the case. Then, what kind of business are you----is that so. You[*] happen to be someone I know.
No...... In fact, I’ve heard from the president that you were coming to visit. As you know, we are an organization not meant to be exposed to public, thus I apologize for attempting to test you earlier.
Let’s see.....branch office manager of Pinochle---Leo had been assuming the duty of a branch office manager. There used to be a time when he was a little morose, but the branch office has also become lively, and these days he seems to be enjoying himself. He is scolding his subordinates everyday, though. That’s correct. I’ve been his caretaker since he was still sucking his fingers, so I’m deeply moved by how much he’s grown.
Sato is very diligent, I would say that she’s working very hard....that’s because she possesses a strong sense of responsibility. That’s right, his father Jiro and I are old acquaintances, I often hear about how he’s doing as well. If he hadn’t put his hopes and trust in Sato, he wouldn’t have allowed her to join Pinochle.
Ah....Vijay Kumar Singh is the same as always. Could that houseplant over there possibly be Johnny.....I’m sure that child too would relay the information of your visit.
What are the chances.....you also happen to be familiar with Redgrave. Did he do anything impolite to you, such as inviting you out to dinner.... In any case, he is also a serious person with common sense at heart, he is not a bad guy at all. That being said, please do not hesitate to let us know should he cross a line.
And then Finn Oldman is..... thank you very much for your kind words, but you don’t have to worry. Social etiquettes and manners can be learned on a future date. On the contrary, there is no dignity in those without resolution. I see it in him.....so please continue to watch over him. I’m certain that you will not regret it.
Oh, look. It appears that everyone seems to have returned. Let’s greet them.
If you would let me lead the way---.
♠️♥️♦️♣️
TL notes: As mentioned above, Muno said that this is a scrapped version of what should be distributed physically on April 8. Title of the revised SS is “Dear My Frivolous Senior”, and I assume it must be in a similar format. I love this SS though, I think it’s the first time I got emotional while reading haha. [*] Basically Bernard treats the reader as a guest and calls us You but in a very polite manner (he’s very polite the entire time).

please please can we get fukuzawa awkwardly having to tell ranpo he’s dating reader and the two of them start fighting and reader is subjected to it??? 😍😍
haha yeah. first ask that imma answer, let me know if you guys want more. my asks are open for any (except mineta gross) mha, ouran, or bungo characters :)
{this one is gonna be done with she/her pronouns but if you ask for gender neutral or he/him or any other pronouns, i can do it}
---
The clock struck two when Y/N looked at her phone, leg bouncing up and down in a way that always annoyed the people around her. Great. It was thirty minutes past their meeting time and her boyfriend still had not shown up with what she understood was his adopted son.
It had been a good plan. Meet on neutral territory, gas up (what Y/N assumed was) a teenage boy with a sweets addiction, and then break the news. Y/N was not sure why they needed to go through such lengthy troubles to inform her boyfriend’s son that they were dating. He was at least old enough to understand what dating was. And from what she had heard from Kunikida, Fukuzawa’s son had a very prominent dating life of his own. But Y/N trusted her boyfriend, no matter how many times he looked off into the distance with quiet wisdom that felt vague.
Y/N sipped her tea, realizing that caffeine would only worsen her anxiety. It didn’t matter how many times Fukuzawa and Kunikida tried to tell her that the meeting wouldn’t be a big deal and that the son would love her, she wasn’t so sure. He was working at the Armed Detective Agency and was good at what he did. At least those were Kunikida’s words as Y/N and him were quietly reading in the same room as they did on Saturday nights. While Y/N appreciated Kunikida for his straight forward/driven personality, he did not fare well in comforting her.
Which brought her to her boyfriend. His solid, piercing eyes would always soften as she talked about her day over their dinner dates and he would brush the back of his hand on her cheek in the moments they were alone with one another. While Y/N rarely noticed because she herself was too infatuated with him, Fukuzawa cared deeply for her after seven months of dating. Their last hurdle was introducing Y/N to Ranpo. Fukuzawa was not at all worried since Y/N had a knack for making sweets and made people feel as if they were special when she smiled at them. There was never a shortage of praise around her.
Y/N checked her phone again, hoping that an apology text would come through and she would not be left in the dark. That however was proving difficult. Fukuzawa was driving with Ranpo eating cotton candy in the passenger seat. He had to be bribed away from the sweets table Dazai had set up for some ungodly known reason to mess with Atsushi. It was embarrassing how long it took for Kunikida to pry Ranpo’s little grubby hands away from the snacks and then another amount of time for Fukuzawa to get Ranpo to put on his seatbelt.
It made Fukuzawa nervous that he was so late. He knew Y/N would be understanding, it was part of the reason he enjoyed her company so much. Knowing her, she would probably be bouncing her knee and staring down at the table, overthinking things. He, of course, was right.
As Fukuzawa was pulling into the parking lot, he spotted his girlfriend’s car. It was pristine, as always, and had a small cat paw sticker on the back left bumper. He smiled inwardly, realizing that he had been waiting for this. There was a future with Y/N and Fukuzawa couldn’t wait.
Ranpo still had yet to get out of the car, his glasses dangling from his shirt pocket and a light dusting of sugar crystals on his lips. He was pouting, of course. Kunikida did not pack enough snacks for the car ride, meaning Ranpo did not have the mental energy to get out of the car and go into whatever flop coffee shop the president insisted they go into. People were so stupid and Ranpo already just finished a case that was so obvious. The local police really needed to be more useful.
“Get out of the car,” Fukuzawa said, getting more and more agitated.
“No,” Ranpo said.
“Let’s go. I promise there will be sweets inside the shop.”
“So? There were sweets at the agency.”
Fukuzawa rolled his eyes, knowing Ranpo would sit in the car out of stubbornness. “Ranpo-”
“Yukichi?” A soft voice called out from the entrance of the cafe.
Fukuzawa turned to see Y/N standing right outside. She had a to-go cup of something hot in her hands, jacket sleeves pulled over her hands to stop the warmth from burning her skin. Even though it was overcast and windy, Y/N still seemed to have a certain glow about her that always took Fukuzawa’s breath away. She waved timidly, not knowing why he was awkwardly standing behind his parked car with a weird defensive stance. He nodded over to her, giving her a genuine smile before turning his head back to the car and glaring.
“Is everything okay?”
Y/N began to approach her boyfriend. The only other time she had seen her boyfriend have this stance was when she had bumped into some eyebrowless pale emo kid in an accident at the mall. Fukuzawa seemed to pick the weird fights, but she just smiled through it. His eyes held a certain annoyance the Y/N had not seen before. Her eyebrows furrowed as she took a step off the curb. Fukuzawa held out his hand, motioning her to not get closer. Y/N paused, unsure about his demeanor.
“Ranpo, don’t make me ask again.” Fukuzawa’s voice held a bass to it that Y/N had never heard before. She could only assume it was his dad voice that he has never had to use with her.
The window rolled down on the old car for just a crack. “I don’t remember a question being asked.”
The voice was whiny and slightly muffled, as if the speaker had sweets in his mouth. Fukuzawa rolled his eyes and put his hand on the glass. Y/N was slightly shocked by her boyfriend, but decided to let him do his thing. She was not a parent and the closest time she had ever been was when she had a babysitting gig decades ago when she was a teen. While she was interested in a family, she had neither the time nor mental capacity to follow through. So she stepped back onto the curb and took a sip of her tea, relishing in the warmth it provided.
“Ranpo, if you don’t get out of the damned car, there will be no sweets at the agency for a year.”
A clear threat had been made.
The door slammed into the car next to it, causing a dent that Fukuzawa watched form. Out from the passenger seat, a short man with a slight pout crawled out of the car. Definitely not the young teenager Y/N had been expecting. He was only slightly taller than Y/N and wore a cape. In fact, he looked like a full grown adult, maybe only ten years younger than Y/N. Her face said it all, though neither men were looking at her. They just stared one another down before Fukuzawa remembered his loving girlfriend stood awkwardly behind him. He motioned for her to come over.
Ranpo did not look impressed as he looked her up and down. Y/N looked too ordinary to know Fukuzawa in her jeans and plain jacket combo. Her shoes were dirty from all the yard work she had done throughout the years. As she got closer, Ranpo watched closely as Fukuzawa gently touched the small of her back before wrapping his arm around her waist. While Ranpo had never seen the President act like this, he did not care.
“Ranpo, I would like you to meet-”
Ranpo yawned loudly. “She’s way too old for me. Almost to hag status.”
Y/N’s eyes widened. She began to stumble over her words, not knowing how to respond. Fukuzawa’s cheeks burned with embarrassment. He couldn’t believe that Ranpo would even think he was trying to set them up. Ranpo made a disgusted face.
“No offense lady, but you don’t even look fun. Like all you do is sit in the dark and contemplate the excitement of frostingless yellow cake.”
How do you respond to that?
Y/N looked down, not sure if she wanted to laugh or cry. She was suddenly thankful for the sudden gust of wind that burned her cheeks, a sign that snow was rolling in. Who insults like that? The little sniffle that Y/N let out set Fukuzawa back into the present instead of the daydream he had slipped into where Ranpo got his ass beat.
“You can’t talk to her like that,” Fukuzawa said sternly. “And she’s not here for you.”
“Obviously. She could never handle the Greatest Detective.”
“No!” Fukuzawa said, tightening his grip on her waist. “I wanted you two to meet because we’ve been dating for a while and I thought it was finally time for you two to meet.”
Ranpo suddenly scoffed dramatically. Once. Twice. Three times. “And here I thought we agreed never to keep secrets! And all this time you’ve been giving your praise to someone else!”
Fukuzawa looked at the small man incredulously. “I’m allowed to date, Ranpo.”
“Not really!” Ranpo exclaimed, throwing his hands up into the air. Those who were passing by continuously glanced, wondering why they were arguing so loudly in a public space. “How gross is that! You’re like centuries old!”
“Look, I just thought you’d want to be in the know. If I had known you’d throw a tantrum, I would have just waited until after we were married.”
In that moment, Ranpo and Y/N spoke simultaneously:
“Tantrum?!”
“Married!?”
“Oh I’ll show you a tantrum!”
Ranpo pushed the old car to make it move back and forth in its parked place before beginning to punch the glass. There was no real power behind his throws, so there were soft thumps being emitted. Next he started to kick the tires, also without power behind his movements. He truly had transformed into a toddler, making the people walking by walk a little faster. He came off as some random crazy person on the street rather than an acclaimed detective.
Fukuzawa didn’t know where to look until a warm soft hand held his cheek, guiding his eyes towards Y/N’s. She smiled softly, ignoring Ranpo as he began to get physical. Her smile caused a chain reaction in Fukuzawa’s heart, making him resist the urge to get down on one knee at that very instance. He did have the ring adding weight to his pocket. She kissed his forehead, making him awkwardly bend down as she chuckled against his skin.
“You want to marry me?”
Fukuzawa blushed slightly. “In due time, of course.”
She chuckled again and nodded. “Of course.”
“I’m not calling her mom!”

Sheathed Claws (Part 1)
(Yandere Fukuzawa feat.Ranpo as his evil sidekick)
Summary: As a former Assassin himself, the formidable Silver Wolf Yukichi Fukuzawa can see through seemingly perfect disguises. You really should not have chosen ADA to work after fleeing the Order of the Clock Tower.
Notes: I wrote this instead of polishing my Tetchou fic, someone yells at me to do things in order- You can sense clear parental issues here, so enjoy! The reader’s ability is modelled after Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights, the ability to control air currents. She is a former assassin leader of the Order of Clock tower, her superior being Lady Agatha Christie. I could have wrote this as a full fic, but I got too excited about a Mori fic and just...went with easy way with this one. The next part would be out next week by the latest.
Special thanks to @killuwumi and @bungoose for beta reading this mess! You guys are the best :))
Warnings: Female reader, Power imbalance, possessive behaviours(in future chapters), mild yandere themes, Ranpo gives horrible relationship advices
You thought your facade is good enough, that your acquaintances are none the wiser. And you are correct, at least to a certain degree. But for a fellow former Assassin, it is not that difficult to decipher from the way you carry yourself. Fukuzawa, the president of your current organization, for one.
You had paid an old friend a good sum, who happens to be a government official, to cleanse your dirty past. Nobody would find anything now, not even yourself.
To avoid any suspicions, you created this bubbly innocent girl mask for your coworkers, to gain their trust so even if the Order finds out about you they would have a hard time pursuing you. You never were particularly close to anyone, even when you let Naomi come to your shopping trips from time to time after her endless pleas. “Your western style is just so cute! I want to try it!!” Of course, you cannot say no. Guess Lady Christie was right, if you wear a mask long enough it would fuse in with your true self.
You act just like any other secretary in the ADA, polite, properly-dressed, hardworking and always ready to pick up any agent’s slack on paperwork(mainly Dazai’s). He notices how you would blend well with the background with that quiet nature, your presence barely noticeable, just like what he used to be in his assassin days. You also have a sweet voice and would look up to him with those adorable feline-like eyes while reading meeting reports to him.
No, no Yukichi, she is your employee, not a stray kitten you encountered in a park. You cannot pat her on the head or squeeze her cheeks, it would be inappropriate. He had to scold himself so very often, whenever you smile to greet him at his desk or wish him a good evening when you leave work. Maybe that is why he hired you, a foreigner with little work experience in Japan.
Since you are only a clerk, Fukuzawa assumed you did not possess a special ability, therefore he did not bother to check your background thoroughly. However, there is something that distinguishes you from the norms like Kirako Haruno or Naomi Tanizaki. Your quick reflexes are unusual for a civilian. His suspicions were confirmed thanks to Ranpo.
When Ranpo accidentally pushed one of his donuts off the table, you snatched a napkin, crouched down and caught the pastry with one hand. All done within half a second, without dropping a single sheet of the files on your other hand. Even Ranpo was impressed and gave you a few words of praise. You responded with a sheepish smile, but that smile does not look so harmless to Fukuzawa anymore. That is when Fukuzawa took a particular interest in you, who are you really? Those moves would take years of training to mould into one’s instincts.
You have hidden pockets in that skirt? He could just be paranoid, but that size is enough to fit a mini-gun or a dagger. In fact, you do carry these things around, old habits die hard. Decades of Assassin life had made you insecure without a weapon to hold. But young women often carry self-defence mechanisms right? Surely you would need them since you are just so cute. Is he just overthinking things?
Using his connections, the ADA president got a copy of your records from the Government Database. But they are nothing out of the ordinary, almost too normal. Maybe you are just blessed with natural talents, not some government spy. Because that could mean big problems, as Fukuzawa hates the government to stick their noses into his Agency.
“(Y/n)-san? She is a nice girl. She is always willing to help out everyone with their troubles. Hah, one time she even went to drag Dazai out from a ditch!”
“When the powers are out, (y/n)-chan brought lots and lots of candles for us. I cannot be more grateful.”
“She loves sweets and would often bake me some! (y/n)-chan calls me her test subject for her confectionery arts, not that I mind as long as I get half of her chocolate cookies!”
Only words of praise and gratitude, Fukuzawa cannot seem to find a single bit of negativity related to you? You are so friendly towards everyone, no one ever saw you in a different mood other than cheerfully happy.
The more Fukuzawa learns about you, the more invested he becomes. Even though it started as an investigation, he had grown fond of you rather quickly. Soon enough he finds himself smiling back to your greetings and goodbyes, even sneaking gazes full of fondness when you were not noticing.
Hm, so the agency president had taken a special interest in you huh? That is better than ideal. Now you can sleep soundly at night without ten traps set up in your apartment. People usually protect what they love right? Now you got the powerful Silver Wolf, an elite swordsman as your bodyguard!
These little actions did not get past the observations of Ranpo Edogawa. You are pleasant to have around, and if you marry the president would mean you would never leave the ADA right? He can have those delicious sweets for the rest of his days! His sensei is happy, and he got an endless supply of delicious food, sounds like a win-win to him.
So when Fukuzawa asked him to use his Ultra Deduction on you, little Ranpo did not suspect a thing and gladly obliged.
“(y/n)-chaan is a skilled assassin, with at least ten years of experience...And served in the Order of the Clock Tower as one of their finest knights, but she is currently on exile.” Ranpo and Fukuzawa exchange a glance, mixed with shock and horror. Both stayed silent for a while, digesting the unbelievable truth Ranpo just dug up.
So, his hunch was correct. But how can you, a charming lady who would help the elderly to cross the street, would give up your seat on the train to pregnant women, would help out anyone in need used to be a cold-blooded assassin? (These are all classic kindness gestures in Asia, in case anyone is confused)
Can Fukuzawa imagine you in black tights(eh idk how this came up), ending people’s lives while lurking in the shadows? No, it is physically impossible. He lived that kind of life, how can you turn out to appear so innocent? Unless you hid your evils exceptionally well. This sends a chill down his spine, the thought of someone who can fool the entire Agency of intelligent agents…
You may not harbour any ill-will towards them yet, but you still pose a major potential risk regardless. You can feed the agents poisonous cakes and even Kunikida would eat them without question. Some precautions need to be taken.
“Sensei, you like (y/n)-chan, right? Why not take her in and watch her every move, make sure she is no threat?” Another win-win situation, if you ask Ranpo. You would have all the time in the world to bake! Wouldn't that be amazing?
His smart apprentice never disappoints.

A3! Mizuno Kaya - Translation [SSR] The Company President of April 1st (2/3)
*Please read disclaimer on blog; default name set as Izumi
---
Izumi: (T-these people are…? They’re all wearing glasses and they kind of give off a rough vibe…)
Mizuno: Those guys are the members of the Development department. MIZUNO Enterprise also has an in-house engineering department. When we launch any sort of internet or other service, these guys carry out the development.
Izumi: I see. (But they feel kind of threatening though…)
Banri: Oi, you know what we’re talkin’ about, don’tcha?
Juza: It’s about the contract Kazunari-san agreed on.
Azami: It’s cause of you spoutin’ “that’s possible, that’s possible,” without any thought that the deadline’s become hard to deal with.
Omi: I’m glad you’re leaving it in our hands to develop it, but…
Taichi: It was way too tricky this time, y’know…! We ended up staying at the office overnight…!
Banri: What kinda selfish shit are you pullin’?
Kazunari: Ehh~! But guys, if it’s y’all at the Development department, then you totes got it under control, right!
Sakyo: Don’t just leave it all to someone else so lightly. Are you screwin’ with me? In the first place, you punk ass…!
Kazunari: Well, I trust everyone on the Dev team! And besides…!
Mizuno: Now, now, you two.
Sakyo: President…
Mizuno: Let’s find a way to come to an agreement that reduces our company’s workload while satisfying the other party as well.
Sakyo: …I understand.
Kazunari: Yeah, that works… Sorry to the Dev team too. I’ll consult with them again.
Izumi: (This issue was settled really well. As expected of President Mizuno…)
Mizuno: Now then, on that topic, how about we take a tour of the Development department next?
Izumi: Sure!
Taichi: Ahh, wait, don’t tell me—it’s the new hire’s tour around each department!?
Mizuno: Yes, I showed her the Sales department just now…
Sakyo: ! You…
Izumi: ? (This person’s staring at me with a surprised look on his face…)
Mizuno: What’s the matter, Sakyo-san?
Sakyo: …Well, it was quite a long time ago, I suppose. You don’t remember, huh?
Izumi: (Remember…? Also, speaking of Sakyo… AHH!) Could it be, Sakyo onii-chan…!?
Employees: SAKYO ONII-CHAN!?
Omi: Do you two know each other?
Sakyo: We lived in the same neighbourhood when we were kids.
Izumi: I made him play with me a lot, but then onii-chan moved away a short time later…
Mizuno: I see, you are… childhood friends.
Juza: Then it’s a long-awaited reunion.
Sakyo: I see, you’re already at the adult working age too, huh…
Banri: He’s legit wiping his tears away.
Azami: His old man-stink’s increasin’.
Sakyo: Shut it—who is?
Banri: New hire-chan, you’re thinking ‘bout where you’ll be assigned to from now on, right?
Taichi: It'll be easy to work if you have someone you know, so won’t you join the Development department? I wanna work with you too!
Omi: Yeah, we welcome you.
Azami: I just joined the company last year too. If you come to the Development department, I’ll take care of you.
Banri: I’ll teach you anything you want, so you can count on me.
Sakyo: If there’s somethin’ you don’t know, or that’s troubling you, or if there’s anything you wanna know, I’ll help you anytime.
Izumi: Thank you very much…! (I thought they were kind of intimidating before, but everyone’s really kind.)
-pause-
Sakyo: Well, the Development department’s noisy like this, but we have some pretty interesting points too.
Banri: By the way, oi, Hyodo! If you review the code you wrote, it’s trash, dumbass!
Juza: AHH? There’s no way it is. Your eyes are what’s trash, jackass.
Banri: The hell d’you say!?
Taichi: Omi-kun, I’ve lost my concentration~, help me~!
Omi: Perfect, the quiche just finished so how about you take a break? Please help yourselves if you’d like, too, President, Tachibana-san.
Mizuno: Thank you very much. Itadakimasu.
Izumi: Thank you very much!
Mizuno: Fushimi-kun uses the in-office oven and makes food and sweets for us like this.
Izumi: Wow, it looks and smells really great. Itadakimasu. …! It's delicious!
Omi: Haha, I’m glad.
Juza: The sweets Omi-san makes are real good. I’m sure you’ll like ‘em too.
Taichi: We also have Omi-kun’s tasty snacks! It’s cool and fun, so choose the Development department!
Mizuno: Now then, it’s about time for my meeting with everyone from the Secretarial department. Let’s head over together, Tachibana-san.
-pause-
Izumi: (I-I can’t believe I’m allowed to enter the President’s office…! It’ll be pretty hard to get a chance to in the future…)
Mizuno: Now then, let’s begin the meeting. Tachibana-san, please observe from over there.
Izumi: Yes!
Tsumugi: I’ve summarized the details from the meeting the other day. The related documents are over here.
Mizuno: They’re very easy to understand and this helps a lot. The flowers that you’ve placed out today are also very beautiful.
Izumi: (By flowers, he means that beautiful flower arrangement that’s decorating the President’s office, right?)
Mizuno: I’m always able to work comfortably thanks to you, Tsukioka-san. Thank you very much.
Tsumugi: Not at all. I’m glad I could be of help.
Azuma: Fufu, as expected of Tsumugi, the soothing secretary.
Tasuku: I’ve carried over the all the documents and items and such to be used in the prep meeting with the client.
Mizuno: Understood. Sorry for always leaving the physical work to you.
Tasuku: Please leave it to me anytime. Also, here’s this week’s training menu. Let’s go to the gym tomorrow too. I’ve prepared new protein and drinks.
Homare: Body building secretary Tasuku-kun’s special training menu and special drinks, hm?
Mizuno: Thank you very much. Could you also give me some advice on stretching when you have time between work?
Tasuku: Of course.
Hisoka: Did you sleep well yesterday, President?
Mizuno: Indeed. It’s all thanks to Mikage-san, the pleasant sleep support secretary.
Hisoka: That’s great. Today, I’ve prepared a drink to have before you sleep, and a nicely scented candle. I also found a cushion that feels snuggly, so please give it a try.
Mizuno: Fufu, I’m looking forward to them all.
Hisoka: And I’ve prepared marshmallows too.
Mizuno: The marshmallows Mikage-san prepares when I’m craving something a little bit sweet are truly delicious.
Azuma: Your skin condition also looks good, partly because of the good night’s sleep you got.
Mizuno: The cream Yukishiro-san recommended is very comfortable to use, and I apply it all the time.
Azuma: I’m glad you’ve taken a liking to it. Let’s go to the beauty-treatment salon another time.
Mizuno: Yes.
Guy: Beauty secretary Yukishiro really knows the President’s skin and hair well after all, huh?
Izumi: (I see, the President meets with people often, so things like that are important too.)
Azuma: Fufu, you look very nice today, President Mizuno. Nothing but respect for my President.
Mizuno: T-thank you very much…!
Homare: Now then, these are the documents and materials to be used in the conference at noon.
Mizuno: Impressive, they’re so artistic again this time!
Homare: Why, naturally!
Tsumugi: The documents and materials Homare-san, the fine arts secretary, makes are famous both in-house and among our client companies.
Homare: I have several artistic propositions as well, so please expect them.
Mizuno: Yes! I’m looking forward to it.
Guy: Regarding the documents you will use in the conference this afternoon—. Furthermore, regarding the schedule afterwards and getting in touch with each section to communicate with the client—.
Mizuno: I understand. On that issue, there’s also…
Guy: Understood.
Tasuku: Guy-san really is prompt in what he does.
Hisoka: That’s the secretarial android for you.
Homare: He also serves as the President’s security, so he is truly reliable.
Mizuno: What do you think, Tachibana-san? A meeting with the Secretarial department goes like this.
Tsumugi: President Mizuno is very busy, so the Secretarial department provides full backup for the management of his schedule and tasks.
Mizuno: Everyone supports me by making use of the skills each of them excel at, and it’s truly such a great help.
Izumi: That’s wonderful…!
Azuma: What do you think? Would you like to join the Secretarial department and try working with us?
Homare: That would be splendid. It is sure to be exciting!
Tasuku: The work of a secretary is also rewarding.
Guy: Yes. I will teach you anything if something is unclear to you.
Hisoka: Everyone in our department goes out to have tea and drinks together too.
Tsumugi: If you’re interested, then definitely join us. Even if you end up joining a different department, please don’t hesitate to call out to us as we’ll consult with you or lend you a hand anytime.
Izumi: Right, thank you very much! (Everyone’s so amazing…!) (I wonder if I’ll be able to contribute much in this company that’s full of such impressive people…?)
Tsumugi: Huh?
Tasuku: It looks like a fluorescent light is about to go out.
Izumi: ? I hear the sound of footsteps all of a sudden...
Mizuno: …!

It started when his father, smelling like expensive liquors and overbearing perfume, shoved a packet of folders at him and stated “You deal with it. Your father has a hang- headache” before staggering off back to his bedroom to sleep off yesterday’s social gathering.
He was ecstatic. His father began to trust him to handle things in the company. Before he was a mere fixture in the company, only present to speak pleasantries and let others know that Jacques Schnee had a well-bred son. But now he had responsibilities and power.
Whitley Schnee, soon-to-be-heir of the Schnee Dust Company since Weiss didn’t seem to care about it and Willow just left to join Atlas, will show everyone his worth, starting with.... a whole lot of complaints about their customer service.

2. Complaints
“This motor is covered under warranty. I still have the original receipt. You have to take it back.”
“Sorry, but the warranty only covers usage in automobiles. You said you tried installing it in a motorcycle, so your warranty is void.”
“...A motorcycle is an automobile, sir.”
“Look smartass, you’re getting on my nerves. You’re not going to get a refund from the Schnee Dust Company, got it?”
“Excuse me!? I want to talk to your manager. Now.”
“I am the manager. Now stop wasting my time.”
“Wh-”
Click.
Whitley’s eyebrows creased sharply as he closed the Scroll. He took slow deep breaths trying to get rid of the anger trembling through his body. A Schnee is like ice. They do not show their rage unless they can leverage it for their purposes. His teeth gritted once more and relaxed.
Those two-faced bastards. He knew the customer service staff were no good when they started fawning over him, telling him that “of course they got complaints when they couldn’t fulfill their requests” or “we got everything under control.”
In reality, they were all just disgusting liars who couldn’t do their job. If he hadn’t been suspicious of them, they might’ve gotten away with it. Those people had to be removed before they truly caused an incident; he cannot let such unsightly things remain.
He picked up the phone.

3. Fired.
“You can’t do this to us! This is going against our contract.”
“Just because you’re your father’s son doesn’t mean you have any power here.”
“You’re going to speak to my lawyer about unfair dismissal, kid!”
It’s funny. The half-dozen or so people who were fawning over him just hours earlier were now cursing and shaming him. Of course they were angry. He just told them they were all fired a couple minutes ago and stopped saying anything when they started yelling like a mob. His lips trembled, trying to stop himself from smiling.
Gods. He was so angry that he’s finding humor in it. Do they really think they have power here?
Bang.
A bald-headed tall man - the manager he spoke to last - slammed his hands onto his desk, looming over him as if to intimidate him with the threat of physical violence. The noise made him flinch slightly, breaking his facade of calm and causing the other guy to smirk mockingly at him.
Bastard.
This farce has gone on long enough.
“Okay. You can keep your jobs...”
Immediately, the six people leered triumphantly with the one at the head of the pack messing his desk up proudly stood up.
“Good kid, see you know when you’re in the wrong.”
“Yeah, smart like your father,” said the man at his desk about to pat him on the head. Immediately, he swatted the man’s hand away.
“...as I gather the audio logs for our lawyers to peruse and determine how much damage you’ve done to the company’s image.”
That silenced the room better than a dead body being found in it.
“If you didn’t do anything wrong, you’ll have my apologies and a bonus for your troubles. But if you’ve damaged our image... well, a company’s face is priceless - but I can definitely try to get back some recompense.”
He lifted a finger which everyone else in the room followed.
“That’s your first option. The other option is to resign quietly, and I will not pursue this in the future. You can take the time to think about it.
“You can-”
“You’re all dismissed. If you linger around a second longer,” he glared at the group, “I’m going to assume you’re taking the first option and want to be escorted out.”
Immediately, upon realizing who had the actual power in the room, the group of six began to scramble out of the room, but just as the bald-headed manager exited out the door, Whitley spoke up. The words caused the man to stiffen up.
“Except you. You don’t get an option, manager. You're fired. Wait to hear from my lawyers.”
He steepled his fingers together, a vicious satisfied smile on his lips.

4. Security Card
...Okay. That was scary. He honestly thought that baldy was going to hit him at the very end. In the future, he was going to have a bodyguard in the room or Klein just in case. He loosened his vest slightly, the cloth sticking to his back from the cold sweat.
It was weird though. Why did something like customer service go all the way up to the level of the President?
Wasn’t that something for managers or department heads to solve?
“Maybe it’s just a test from father,” Whitley spoke out loud. He shook his head.
Yeah, that was probably it.
----
Little did he know that his carelessly stated statement was caught by a hidden camera in his room.
----
The next day he found a folder on his desk and a white card with the label of 00 on it.

5. Assignment
“Hey, Klein,” Whitley asked cautiously as the loyal man handed him a glass of water, “Did father come into my room yesterday?”
He didn’t know what to make of the butler at times or how to treat him. Father said never to treat the help too kindly or they’ll take advantage of it, but Klein was someone he knew since he was born. He’s never seen him be anything but loyal and attentive. He wasn’t like the people he just dealt with.
Maybe he would’ve just dismissed him as just the help, but after having seen a very recent example of two-faced people, he couldn’t quite agree with his father’s assessment of Klein.
“Your father has gone on va-,” the man paused upon seeing the contents on the desk, particularly the white card on his desk. “That card?”
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a card like this before,” Whitley replied, “What does it actually do?”
Klein stared at the card quietly before saying, “Only the Master of the House could’ve given you that card. It will open every lock and file in the Schnee Dust Company. It means the Master has given you authority second to them.”
“Father must really trust me after I got results, right?” he proudly stated as he started shuffling through the documents. In doing so, he missed Klein’s smile, both proud and pained at the same time.
The cursory review made his self-praising words die in his throat.
“Wait...He wants me to solve all these?!” Whitley yelled. It wasn’t that the entire packet consisted of a single problem. The entire seventy-two page packet was a large list of overdue problems and documents that required his attention.
“Where’s father?”
“He’s currently on vacation. He won’t be here for a month.”
“Didn’t he just go on vacation two weeks ago? There should be someone to substitute while he’s gone?”
“...No, sir. This is how it always has been.”
“Haha. You’re joking. Or is this part of the test, Klein?” He laughed but it soon died on his throat, seeing the man’s grim face.
“I will not lie to you, young master.” Klein remarked before adding with a nudge of his head, “There’s a note.”
He’s right. There was. The script was in cursive; it would’ve been elegant and soft if it weren’t for the shakiness in it.
‘You have the right idea. Sometimes problems need to find the right people.’

6. Delegation
This was stupid. The purchasing of toilet paper or whether it had to be 2-ply or 3-ply or setting the price of bubble-gum at the employee store did not need to pass through the president’s desk.
Hell. It’s like anything that involved the tiniest amount of money or required the slightest authority needed to make its way to his desk.
This was not a functional solution. He’ll die of exhaustion by the end of the week if that continued.
And the answers from the department heads were incredibly unhelpful.
‘It has always been this way.’
But it hasn’t. Looking through the records only he could access, everything changed when his father inherited the company from his grandfather. His father first fired anyone that disagreed with him and then diverted anything that looked like it involved money up to the very top. Maybe it was important back then, but those measures certainly didn’t need to be used now.
His father ruled with an iron fist when it came to the company. No one dared to challenge his authority now.
His father was smart. Intelligent. These actions didn’t match that. Was this just another one of his tests? He wanted to believe that, but...
‘The only person you can trust is yourself. Everyone else can betray you. Even family. Only trust others if you have power over them, that is trust.’
...It did match what his father would do. And if there was nothing else he learned from all those official dinners and parties, he knew how to read people, especially his father and his mercurial temper.
With how many of these documents have been untouched and unread, what exactly is his father doing?
Come to think of it. When was the last time his father sat in front of a computer instead of going on vacation or to one of his many dinners with his business associates?
He shook his head. Impossible. His father definitely worked hard. How else would this company be standing if he was that neglectful? Maybe these files were just like the 5% of untouched work since he had so much wor-
His screen flickered as he clicked on another file. The pillar of red pointing downwards made him pale.

The Queen's Husband [4/?]
When her reign is threatened, the Queen of Ergona must find a husband to secure her throne.
Word Count: 4.909
Warnings: There's smut on the second half - don't read if you're under 18! English is not my first language, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes.
A/N: Grab your dresses and your tiaras - we're going to a royal wedding! This is my first time writing smut and it took me such a long time to make it somewhat decent (if anyone has any tips on how to write better smut, please help a friend out). And although it's pretty tame and lame, keep away from the last part if you're under 18. As always, thank you to every one who's been following this story - it turned out to be so much more than I was expecting and I am forever grateful to anyone who takes some time off their day to let me know their thoughts ♡

My masterlist
You and Captain Rogers were married on the first Sunday of October.
The bright summer months - mystical days when your relationship bloomed like flowers under warm sunlight - made way for fall. The air was growing colder and, early in the morning, you could see a white fog settling over Albeon, until the last remnants of the mid-year sun chased it away.
October’s arrival and the eminence of your wedding brought chills to your spine that had nothing to do with autumn. Everything was changing - your life, your kingdom, your heart. Outside the Keep’s walls, the streets were decorated with colorful flags, ribbons and balloons. Overnight, a group of street artists painted Main Street’s cobblestones with beautiful intricate chalk drawings of the most important moments of your reign. You’d never seen the capital - or Ergona, actually - in such high spirits.
To Lord Fury’s outrage, you ordered the Keep’s gates to be open on the wedding day. You simply turned your back on him as he berated about the dangers of letting the common folk in. Fury couldn’t change your mind - these people were your family. You may have growing affections for your groom, but you were walking down the aisle for them.
If they couldn’t see your sacrifices, may them at least know your love.
In the throne room, where the ceremony would take place, another chair sat on the dais. It was made of mahogany wood with gold accents, red velvet cushions and precious gems encrusted in it’s legs, armrests and back. The new throne was identical to the old one, albeit some five hundred years younger. It was a joint present from Lord Stark, the richest man in Ergona and your former guardian, and the Duke of Arvenia, Steve’s father: twin thrones to symbolize equal rulers, a first in your country’s history.
Steve himself said nothing when he first laid eyes on his throne. He kept a blank, neutral expression as his gaze quickly assessed the furniture, as if making mental inventory. He stiffly thanked Lord Stark and his father, before bowing to you and taking his leave, Sir Barnes hot on his heels.
Later that night, wrapped in the safe embrace of his arms, you asked him:
“Did you not like your throne?”
Steve sighed and pressed a kiss to the top of your head. You were in your usual spot outside your chambers, three nights before the wedding and his coronation. Your moments alone were even more sacred now that you had found the courage to kiss him. It was physically painful to be apart from him during the day, counting down the seconds until you could shed the heavy cloak of duty and just be young and enamored. Steve’s courtship was bolder, more passionate. He’d kiss you back with such devotion it’d leave your head spinning.
“It’s not that” he replied. “I’m just afraid I can’t be what you need. And what Ergona needs.”
You were so worried overthinking the endless possibilities regarding your union that you never stopped to wonder how Steve was faring. He was quick to accept your proposal - more concerned about the legitimacy of your request than the weight of it. And sure, he was no ordinary man, but maybe the prospect of becoming king was taking its toll on him. You’d been trained for your role for eighteen years, while Steve barely had four months to prepare.
“Do you regret our engagement?”
“No!” he exclaimed. “Of course not! I would never. It’s just… Overwhelming, I guess.”
He bit his lip, as if the pain of teeth on skin could bring him the right words.
“I don’t want to say I was never scared while in battle, because I was. I’ve felt the fear of dying, but I embraced it. I embraced the possibility of not coming back from war, of perishing at the enemy’s hand. I supposed that what made me a good soldier - embracing your fears makes it look as if you don’t have them, even if you’re terrified. But what I’m feeling now… I can hardly understand it.”
“If I failed in battle, it would mean my death and that was it. But if I fail as a king, my mistake will live on and on in the lives of all of those in Ergona who will suffer it’s consequences. It’s terrifying.”
“How do you do it?” he begged. “Please help me be the king you and our country deserve.”
Steve Rogers was a good man. And you were falling desperately in love with him.
You saw him very little after that. You aunt Virginia, Duchess of Foghar, and your cousin Morgan arrived from the East, taking up most of your free time. Morgan insisted on sleeping with you, which prevented Steve from lingering at you door, but you didn’t have it in your to break the little girl’s heart. Instead, on your last evening as a maiden, the two of you built a pillow fort and cast shadows in the wall, spinning a fantastic tale of lovers and dragons and a king and queen who ruled Ergona.
Your bridal gown was a magnificent alabaster piece made of thick fabric, with long sleeves, elongated neck and a train. Mother-of-pearl buttons fastened it to your front and silver embroidery drew intricate patterns from hem to shoulders, which were covered by thick a fur shawl. It was a garment made for heavy winter, not autumn, but you insisted on it since it was your mother’s wedding dress. The only addition were the mother-of-pearl clasps, shaped like stars - a nod to Steve’s shield.
It was sweltering hot inside the antechamber where you waited. A set of double doors kept you from the throne room, your future husband and what appeared to be the entire kingdom. You were never one to be nervous with large crowds - you couldn’t - a mask of nonchalance couldn't hold stop Sir Samuel Wilson, Captain of the Queen’s Guard, who stood by the entryway, from noticing your fingers twitching.
“Are you having second thoughts, Your Grace?” he joked. “I can’t get you out of here, just say the word.”
You snickered. Captain Wilson was one the nicest, most genuine people you knew. Your first act as a queen was to knight him - your childhood best friend from Foghar, who followed you all the way to Albeon because “someone has to look after your royal ass.”
“You can’t help me this time, Sam” you sighed.
“Don’t be dramatic. Steve’s a good guy, Y/N” he reasoned. “You chose well.”
“It’s not him I’m worried about.”
Sam raised one eyebrow.
“I thought you shouldn’t lie when you’re wearing that” he pointed to the crown atop your head, a heavy adornment made of white gold and diamonds. “You have feelings for Steve, which makes you anxious because you hate it when you can't control things."
Before you could come up with a witty response to Sam's very accurate conjecture, Lord Stark arrived, your bouquet in hands - edelweiss for courage, baby’s breath for purity and myrtle for good luck and love in your marriage. Sam excused himself to give you and your uncle some privacy, as well as announce to the grand hall the bride’s upcoming entrance.
Lord Stark cleared his throat.
“You look beautiful, kid” he praised, brown eyes glistening with the tears he was trying to hold back. “Are you ready to do this?”
“Not if you cry” you cooed, gently swiping your thumb on his under eye. His skin was thinning, marked by some wrinkles that weren’t there when you first found yourself in this antechamber. Albeon had taken a heavy toll on your uncle, but not once had he complained.
“I can’t help it” Uncle Tony shrugged. “You’re my oldest daughter, it doesn’t matter what biology says. And I’m happy for you - I’m just crying because that’s what dads do, I suppose.”
Very carefully, you pressed a kiss to his cheek. It was hard to move your head around with the crown. It’s weight forced you to stand still and look ahead in perfectly regal posture. Which was how you walked down the Dragon’s Keep throne room, left arm linked to your uncle’s, as soon as the double doors opened.
On nights you couldn’t sleep you’d often find yourself here, in this wide room built by your ancestors to celebrate their victories and reinforce their rule. It was fairly simple for a throne room - Asgard’s throne room, for instance, was much more opulent - with few ornaments apart from the regular flags and traditional marble arches. It’s grandeur was in the sheer size of it and the glass dome that reflected sunlight in thousands of colors, all of which painted your gown as you made your way to Steve, who stood broad-shouldered at the foot of the dais.
He was wearing his military garb, composed of dark blue jacket and white breeches. The jacket was adorned with all the medals he'd received during his relatively short but immensely successful career. Sir Barnes was on his left as the best man, wearing red, watching with a satisfied, happy smirk as Uncle Tony placed your hand in Steve’s.
Presiding the ceremony was The Ancient One, a tall, bald woman of unknown age who was the leader of the Church of Ergona. The only occasion she left the sacred city of Kamar-Taj was to celebrate royal weddings and coronations in Albeon. Beside her were Master Wong, Master Mordo and Lord Strange, himself a master of the unseen arts too.
She married you first. Took your joined hands and laced them together in golden cloth, as you and Steve recited vows of love, trust and respect. It was fairly simple, not much different that it would’ve been if you were a commoner couple. After brief twenty minutes or so, The Ancient One declared you husband and wife.
There was no kiss - your first duty as a wife held precedence over it. From behind Steve, Lord Strange came with the crown and Master Wong with the State Sword.
Steve knelt before you, his gaze locked on yours. With clammy palms, you took the State Sword, gently placing it on his right shoulder.
“Do you solemnly promise to govern the people of the Kingdom of Ergona, according to its respective laws and customs?”
“I do.”
“Do you solemnly promise to be guided by justice and mercy in all of your tasks and doings, placing your people’s need before your own even in the darkest hours?”
“I do.”
“Do you swear to protect your people from their enemies, even if it means waging war?”
“I do.”
“Do you swear to be fair in your decisions and respectful in your actions, making no distinctions between citizens?”
“I do.”
The tip of the sword weighed like thousand of bricks on Steve’s shoulder, but nothing compared to the golden crown you placed on his head. It was burdensome, soul-crushing - and he'd never felt closer to you.
No one but him noticed the way your hands lingered on the sides of his face or your soft smile when you announced:
“Rise, Steven, King of Ergona.”
The throne room erupted in cheers.
After the feast, Natasha and Wanda prepared you for your wedding night. Your corset was loosened, your skirts removed, your jewelry stored away. Natasha delicately rubbed lavender scented oil on your pulse points while Wanda brushed your hair. A new nightgown was laid on the bed: made of the purest white linen, with lace trimmings and buttons down the front. The perfect look for a virgin queen on her nuptials.
The wedding feast had been a success. Guests from lands near and far enjoyed a decadent dinner of the likes your halls hadn’t seen in a long time, courtesy of Anthony Stark, the Duke of Foghar, to celebrate the nuptials of his beloved niece. Talented musicians entertained the guests, which included the Wakandan royal family and Steve’s cousins, the Princes of Asgard. You and the new King were lavished with the most incredible gifts - gems, tapestries and even horses. All the while, your hand clasped his tightly. His wedding band dug into your palm, but the sharp sting of it was reassuring.
Whatever happened from now on, you were not alone anymore.
There was a brief knock on the door before your aunt Virginia swiftly walked in.
“The King is on his way” she announced as she made her way to you. “Are you ready for this?”
Worry creased her eyebrows, hardening her beautiful face. Here was the woman who raised you as her own - when your mother perished and your father sent you away, Virginia Stark gave you all the love her heart could muster. While your uncle was your advisor and therefore had a duty to aid your rule, your aunt was the hand on your back, ready to offer you her comforts when the weight of the crown was too much.
She couldn’t help your carry it, but now, with the arrival of a man that could, she worried not for the Queen, but for the young woman at the verge of consummating her marriage.
“Please say something” Natasha pleaded as she tugged on your sleeve. She was wearing a beautiful ball gown of forest green which complimented her hair perfectly.
“This must happen” you answered as if you were speaking to your subjects and not the people who knew you best. “I’m sure he will be… Kind.”
Natasha snorted but before she could say anything another knock echoed in the room, louder and more persistent this time. You nodded at Wanda, who opened it, revealing Steve.
“Ladies. My Queen” he greeted at the threshold. From behind him you could see the silhouette of your uncle Tony.
None of the women moved until you commanded:
“Please leave us.”
Bowing to you and then to Steve, the women left the room. When Wanda closed the door behind the King, she sent you a reassuring smile.
You remained still in front of the huge four-poster bed, watching as your new husband slowly made his way inside your room. The windows were closed with pale pink velvet drapes matching the seating in the furniture. During the day they offered the most beautiful view of the gardens, but tonight no one but you and Steve would be witness to whatever took place.
The soft yellow glow of the candles cast shadows on his beautiful face. He’d always been incredibly handsome and yet you were amazed by how striking he looked now: clothes a little rumpled, lips wine stained and eyes blown wide and dark. A fading red line on his forehead from where his crown had been all now.
“We don’t have to do anything tonight” he said and you knew he meant it.
He was standing right in front of you now, although five feet apart. The distance between you felt as big as the distance between the Earth and the Moon, nothing but gravitational pull holding you still.
“I’m not scared” your voice declared, chin held high.
Steve laughed, so softly it felt like a breeze rustling the petals of the rose courtyard.
“I don’t think anything could scare you” he smiled. “But I’d hate for you to regret this.”
Steve loved you. He truly did loved you.
You’d believed his words when he said them. Knowing him to be truthful and honest, you believed his declaration, even if the meaning of it was incomprehensible for you then. You’d know the love of family and the love of friends, but never the sweet, selfless love of a lover, and you honestly never thought you would. But then Steve came like a hurricane, unabashedly storming into your life. Your feelings - neat organized boxes you kept in a imaginary shelf - were scrambled and confused, drowning you in a cerulean sea of bewilderment.
You trusted your body: the aguish you felt when he was away, the incessant fluttering in your stomach when he was near. The heat that took over your veins and crumbled your defenses.
You felt his care in your skin. You saw it, in the green shades of his blue eyes. It was there, visible for only you in candlelight. When morning came maybe you wouldn’t see it again and you’d wonder if it was even real or just your young mind playing tricks. But tonight maybe, maybe, you could let him love you properly.
“Then I guess you should make me not regret it.”
His steps towards you were slow and measured. His boots made little sound on the wooden floor, but the wait was so agonizing you swore they thumped to the rhythm of your heartbeat. When he finally reached you, chest to chest and feet to feet, Steve took your chin in his hands, tilting your head so your eyes could meet.
The move was just like the first time, but the kiss was anything but. Steve’s lips were familiar now, safe territory where you could get lost in for hours. Your tongue had traced its shape and your teeth had pulled on it’s skin. You learned that a kiss was so much more than a press of mouths. There was a lot that could be soundlessly said: “I need you”, “Thank you for being here”, “I’m scared”, “I adore you”.
Your husband’s hands were on your hips, holding and squeezing with fervor. You threw you head back when he started kissing your neck, lips and beard trailing fire on the column of your throat. You barely held your gasp when he squeezed your bum.
“No,” he gruffed. “Let me hear you.”
Tentative fingers tangled in Steve’s hair, their grip tightening as his hands wandered further. Kissing him was the most divine delirium. The otherwise soft fabric of your nightdress now felt scratchy as it shielded your nudity. Even the rich velvet of his waistcoat couldn’t compare to the stroke of his skin.
You were panting heavily when Steve touched your foreheads, eyes glazed and lips plumped. You thought you’d gotten pretty good at reading him these past months - how the hues on his irises hinted at a thousand words he sometimes wouldn't say. He was a quiet one, your husband. He saved his voice for when it was necessary, not just to join the superfluous stream of words you sometimes were victim to.
“Are you sure?” he asked, hoarse and breathless and tantalizing.
You answered unbuttoning the first button on his waistcoat, then the second and third. He didn’t stop it when you pushed it off his broad shoulders and to the floor and then moved on to his tunic. Steve’s torso was a masterpiece of solid muscles under tanned skin. Some faded scars littered the expanse of it, souvenirs from battles past, but you thought they worked on reminding you he was real.
Carefully, you placed a kiss in the center on his left shoulder blade. His skin was warm and tasted salty, but you liked it. Under your palm, Steve’s heart raced.
“Y/N?” he whispered.
“Yes?”
“Can I remove your nightdress?”
You nodded, cheeks pressed to his chest so you could ground yourself in his heartbeat. Steve pecked you softly before kneeling.
“You have me on my knees, my Queen” he professed. “I will cherish you and love you until the end of my days.”
You shivered when he gently took your left foot in his hands, laying a kiss to your ankle. Slowly, his hands and lips moved upwards, trailing your calf, knee and thigh. Out of all of Natasha’s explanations about eroticism, she never mentioned the delirious feeling of a man’s beard touching skin - but then again, you were very fond of Steve’s beard.
When he reached your hip, the nightdress was sitting sideways in your body, covering everything but your leg. A hand went to Steve’s shoulder to steady yourself as he bit your hip bone. Everything was hot, as if the whole room was aflame. Blue eyes locked with yours before he lifted the rest of the fabric, rising as he revealed your body.
It was a strange sensation, sharing your nudity with someone. Of course you’d been nude in Wanda’s presence as she bathed you, or your aunt’s, or even as doctor’s, but it never felt so vulnerable. You wanted your body to be appreciated and desired - for Steve to bask in it the same way your were basking in his, but you couldn't help the shame and insecurity.
He saw the change in your demeanor, how your shoulders tensed and your arms moved to cover your middle section. Steve was hard as a rock, his erection straining his trousers in a terribly uncomfortable way. It wasn't his first time, but no past experience could compare to the reality of finally being with you, his beloved, whom he loved from afar for so long.
He hugged you, just like you did that night when he confessed his fears of ascending to the throne, and you relaxed. Your chest against his was heavenly, and your heartbeats harmonized as if all they ever needed was to touch each other through the skin.
“You’re so beautiful” he whispered. “I’m so happy. Thank you for marrying me.”
“Shouldn’t I be thanking you?” you joked.
He laughed and it was irresistible, so you kissed him again.
Cautiously, his fingers caressed your spine, sensually gazing over your bum and reached the back of your thigh. Sometime during the night - while you were fervently kissing him or trying not to faint, perhaps - you failed to notice how your intimacy was progressively getting wetter. Steve’s touch startled you, making you jump in his arms. He immediately removed his hand and apologized.
“I’m sorry, is this too much? I don’t want to hurt you.”
“No, no, no” you stuttered. “It was just sudden. But it felt… Good.”
Gods, what a shame. If only there was a guide on how to lose your virginity without making a complete mess of yourself!
“Should we lay down?” Steve suggested, an amused smirk on the corner of his mouth.
“Please.”
You swiftly sat on the bed, pulling on some furs to cover your modesty. Steve stood, hands on his waist as he watched his bride try to hide her inexperience. He wasn’t surprised - you were taught any kind of imperfection was a sign of weakness. Over the years, you learned of hundreds of different ways to hide your inabilities until you eventually overcame them. It was the way of your world. He had hoped to break down these barriers during your courtship, but time wasn’t on his side. It would be his lifelong mission to cherish you and your imperfections, no matter how big they may seem to you.
“I’m sorry. I don’t want to disappoint you, I’ll try to…”
“Take off my trousers” he interrupted your rambling.
“What?”
“Take off my trousers, Y/N.”
Attentively, as if fondling a bird, your hands moved to the front of his breeches. He look regal, almost imperial, even with chest bare of and hair mussed - and you, his disconcerted queen who could barely undo the fastings. It was comical, really, how you gawked at his cock when it sprung free. There was no way that would fit inside you.
“Now, could you please lay down?” Steve asked softly. It was a bit odd to guide you - he was used to you holding the power and making the decisions, not the other way around. Yet his manhood twitched at the sight of you obeying him and his heart soared knowing you trusted him enough to follow his lead.
You lowered your head on the pillows, body stiff as a board stretched on the rest of the bed. Steve laid on his elbows by your side and gravity made the front strands of his hair hang by his forehead - your angel on Earth.
“Will you let me touch you?” he murmured. “I promise I’ll stop if you don’t like it.”
You nodded, hypnotized by him, naked in your bed. Steve pecked your lips, your chin, your jaw and moved to your neck. Your feet started dragging the comforter on their own accord as he showered your throat with tiny bites and teasing licks, as if you were a delicacy he was just dying to taste. Your breath hitched when he reached you collarbone and sternum. His right hand took one breast as he would a petal, caressing it with the pad of his thumb.
You lost it when he took a nipple in his mouth, the soft skin peddling as he licked it. Steve decided he’d fight a thousand wars just to hear your moan like that.
His member was pressed to your stomach and you tentatively reached for it. It felt like iron and velvet at the same time. Your husband hissed at your touch, pulling your nipple from his mouth as he groaned your name.
“Did that hurt?” you asked.
“In the best possible way” he was so disheveled and it was glorious. Before you could let go of his cock, Steve wrapped his hand around yours and his member, his wrist tugging them up and down the hardness.
His sounds urged you on as he resumed his assault on your chest. He grunted particularly teasingly when the hand that was on not caressing him tugged his blonde strands.
Gingerly, his fingers found the apex of your thighs again. Slowly he dragged them across your labia, as if memorizing your intimacy with his digits. His thumb found your clit and he rubbed figure eights on it, making your body go lax on the mattress.
“Steve…” you whined, and he drunk from your desperate sounds.
It didn’t take long for you to come with two of his fingers inside you. You felt so full and so good and so intoxicated by his smell and presence. It was an out of body experience - reaching higher and higher until you just soared, Steve as your guide. As for him, he had the smuggest smile on his face as he watched you fall apart.
Your vision was blurry as he hovered over you, the picture of perfection, and kissed you again. Involuntarily, as if they knew that’s what they should do, your legs opened to him, and his hips locked to yours.
“May I?” he whispered right as you felt the tip of his cock on your entrance.
“Yes.”
It hurt like hell. As slow and gentle as Steve was, you couldn’t help the tears leaking from the corner of your eyes and the colorful expletives you yelled at him.
You both breathed in relief when he was fully sheathed in. His shoulders were red and dotted with half-moon marks from your nails and the muscles on his arms and back were tensed from sheer pleasure. It left a bad taste in his mouth - fucking you shouldn’t feel as divine as it did when you couldn’t feel it. But God almighty, the way your cunt squeezed him…
Slowly, he started moving, taking the salt of your tears with his lips and turning them into delight. Gradually, your whimpers turned to moans as you lost yourself to this new, euphoric feeling. Your right leg, the one he so fervently adored just moments prior, was hooked around his hips. A bead of sweat made its way down his forehead and you wanted to lick it and taste it, take it from him the way he was taking from you.
But it felt so much more than that. He was taking just as much as he was giving - your hands clasped together in the mattress was an anchor, a portal channeling your souls. His became yours and yours became his.
Steve came exclaiming your name, his semen leaking from your body to the mattress. It was a strange victory, to have him sweating and struggling to breathe, but you rejoiced in it anyway. Despite the ache between in your legs, you longed to do it again.
Your husband rolled over, collapsing next to you on the bed. He took your palm, still entwined with his, and kissed it. Dozens of kisses had been shared tonight, but mayhaps that was the most meaningful.
“Are you well?” he asked. “Are you in pain?”
“I’m fine” you assured him, and you were. The discomfort would fade, but this newfound happiness would stay. Not from sex, but from sharing. He was in your blood now - your husband, King and partner.
You tugged his forearm when he rose.
“Where are you going?”
“To get you a warm cloth” he explained.
“Stay” you pleaded. “Just a little bit.”
Steve pulled you to his embrace, limbs tangling and hearts meeting under the canopy.
“I love you, Y/N” he said. “And I’m not going anywhere.”
Your mouth opened on instinct, but your throat was raw. You wanted him to know that you knew and you believed. You wanted him to be sure that you'd meet him there, even if your steps were slow and sometimes unsure. The need to assure him that you were not on the same page yet, but yours was turning was vital - however unnecessary. Before you could utter anything, his thumb was on your lips, shushing you.
“I know you can’t say it back yet, but it’s fine. We have time.”
On the first Sunday of October, Captain Rogers became the Queen’s husband - and Steve became the keeper of your heart.

Tropes: Enemies to Lovers Season: Spring/ summer Pairing: Bang Chan X Reader (ft. Seo Changbin) AU: | Delinquent!Female Reader | Vice President!Bang Chan | School!AU | Non!Idol AU | Genre: Fluff Word Count: 1,5K Requested: Yes, (Reference)
They day of Chan’s and Y/n’s graduation had been about a month ago. The two were happy to be together at such a milestone in their lives. Everyone were friends and they all hung out together. Y/n had brought Hyunjin and Jeongin into the group, whilst Chan brought his known clique together at a hang out.
After the entire drama around Y/n, people at school finally seemed to know how to act like a decent person. They began to mind their own businesses and greeted her like a normal person. Y/n also seemed to be clicking with some more people as they acted normal around her. Most people seemed to be interested in her drawings, tattoos or piercings and even asked her where they could get theirs, secretly, done.
Y/n knew it would be great for business, but she told them ‘to wait until they got an approvement of their parents- unless they didn’t care about it then yeah sure go ahead, we are called the ‘District 9 Tattoo Parlour’ come on by!’
Even though she started to click with new people, she stayed loyal to her usual group, which were the boys. They had lunch together, especially now that they all had summer break. They had claimed an usual spot at the park, where they would order delivery and just enjoy their time together.
She began to have banter with Minho and Jisung, who were always ready for jokes and teasing. Y/n had an absolute soft spot for Felix. He is sweet and cute and how could you not love him? Chan would playfully pout as his girlfriend cooed at his younger friend’s cuteness.
Chan wasn’t the jealous type, he loves and trusts her and he is sure that she loves him too. Besides, he also trusted his friends to not do anything they will regret.
They all had gone to Y/n’s Busan beach house and spend days of their summer there. They had barbecued until they were physically sick of the grill and sang songs together around a campfire. The 3Racha unit had showed off their music skills to everyone, causing them to stare at the three in awe.
Everything felt like the pieces finally fell into place. Chan was going to study music at University soon and Y/n would be at the same university studying psychology, since she wanted to help people who have experienced the same things as she has in her life. Chan couldn’t be prouder of her. And she couldn’t have been prouder of him.
Speaking of proud, Y/n has been visiting her father in rehab a frequently. He continued to apologise for his thoughtless actions from the past, but the two had forgive him already. They continued to support him and cheer him on. He was making great process and Y/n was happy and proud to see her father back on the right track.
Y/n and Chan, who were now an official couple, have gone on countless dates. Dates to watch the lights on the bridge at the park were still their favourite. The snacks and the snuggles were just the best. Y/n would take Chan everywhere on her motor. He at first preferred going by car, until he realised that he got to hug her the whole ride.
Some more good news for the two was, that Sooyun was facing charged for invading privacy, fraud, attempt on murder and sabotage. Which honestly was quite sad for a girl with so much protentional and at such a young age. But she had brought it all upon herself and had to face jailtime for her actions.
Right now, Y/n would be at work at the parlour, where she would be the one who sets piercings and earrings. Chan had stepped out of his car and made his way into the parlour. He greeted his friends before walking to Y/n’s wing of the shop. She had her back turned to him so it was the perfect moment for him to mess with her a bit.
He creeped up on her and made sure she wasn’t holding anything that could potentially hurt herself. When she wasn’t, he grabbed her by the waist and picked her up so he could twirl her around, making her squeal in process. She giggled and turned to him after he had put her down. “Hello to you too Moonlight.” She muttered against his lips. “I have something for you.” He said with a bright smile plastered on his face. He dug in the pockets of his jacket and revealed a velvet box that was about the size of his hand. She was in shock at first, thinking that he was going to propose and she was ready to go panic mode, since they are quite young.
But when Chan opened the box, she saw two necklaces placed in the box. The silver and golden necklace was simple and cute. There was a sun and a moon inside of it, representing the two. She absolutely loved it and kissed her boyfriend all over his face as a thank you.
“I don’t have anything for you thought.” She pouted in the mirror after Chan had hung the piece around Y/n’s neck. “You could pierce my ears?” He suggested, making her turn around in surprise.
“You want your ears pierced?” “Yeah, I’ve been thinking about getting them ever since you got this job.” He smirked, before she excitedly clapped her hands and walked out to get her stuff ready.
“Sit still.” She murmurs as she dotted the spots on his ear where the earrings would be. He would stare at her concentrated face as she stood in front of him, he had to hold back the urge to tickle her, because he knew if he did that, everything would go downwards and she would feel guilty for the rest of their relationship. But he trusted her that she would go a great job.
“I can’t see well-Ah!” She shrieked when Chan brough her onto his lap, making her straddling him. She looked away from him for a second, feeling flustered at his bold action. It wasn’t like she hasn’t sat on his lap before, I mean. Have you seen his lips? Who wouldn’t want to make out with them? Y/n continued to work as she sat on his lap, since he wouldn’t let her go and before they knew it, Chan had earrings.
“You okay honey?” She asked him as she rested her hands on his chest. He was wearing a black blouse with his upper buttons still unbuttoned. She absolutely loved this look on her, since it was simple but sexy. The matching sun and moon necklace was now dangling onto his exposed chest, aside with the usual silver chain he was wearing. And he now looked even hotter with the silver earrings he got. It got herself staring at her good-looking boyfriend, which gave Chan a boost of confidence.
“Like what you see?” He smirked as he pulled her closer to his chest. “I guess I do now, especially since I have that hot-kind of influence on you.” She smirked back. “That’s because you are m sunshine and you keep me warm and fuzzy.” He cooed suddenly, pecking her lips right afterwards. “And I guess you’re hot too.” He laughed. “Excuse me, you think?” She scoffed playfully. She had slapped his chest as well in process, causing him to scoff this time before ending up in a tickle fight.
“No PDA in the parlour!” They heard Changbin yell from the other side of the curtain. Causing them both to fall into a fit of laughter.
Everything just seemed perfect. And they couldn’t wait to see how their story would go on together.

“wash the poison from off my skin / show me how to be whole again”
What is one thing that you took to show and tell as a kid? I have this oddly specific memory of bringing my little Snorlax plushie for one in pre-k. I remember thinking everyone thought I was weird for liking Pokemon as a girl. Do you remember losing your first tooth? I don't. Have you ever been addicted to a game? What game? I think I was addicted to World of Warcraft at a point, but it's honestly hard to tell. My depression was just so abysmal that it was the one thing I got even a smidge of not even joy, but active distraction out of because the options of what you can do in the game are essentially limitless. Are you afraid to pop a balloon? Not really, but it does make me jump because I don't like loud noises. Name one person you’d like to see this month. Bitch we fighting Covid, stay away from me. When was the last time you laughed when you shouldn’t have? I don’t know. Which was better: the first The Lion King or the second? They're nearly tied, honestly, but I prefer the original. Do any of your grandparents have a tattoo? I KNOW my maternal grandmother didn't, and I don't believe any other grandparent did, either. When was the last time you had a bubble bath? Not since I was a kid. What do you usually buy when you go to the corner store? You mean like, a gas station or dollar store? Something small like that? In that case, I'll usually look for a Mountain Dew Voltage sometimes along with something Reese's-related. Do you believe that your pets feel love towards you? My cat, absofuckinglutely. He so obviously loves me. I know my snake doesn't though, considering reptilian brains just physically aren't capable of creating that emotion. She does, however, obviously trust me and definitely seems to enjoy coming out of her terrarium and thus hanging out by me. Bubbles or sidewalk chalk? I loved drawing with chalk, but I like bubbles more. I just love how they catch light and have such beautiful colors to share. What do you use to tell time when your gone out somewhere? My phone. Are you proud of your body? FUCK no. I wish I still was, goddammit. I used to be so fit, and it's funny, because even back then at like, 118 lbs at 5'4'', I thought I was kinda chubby. Like bitch shut the fuck up. Watermelon or cherries? I honestly don't like either, but I'll definitely pick watermelon over cherries. They're disgusting. What is your all-time favourite song? "False Flags" by Massive Attack. Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? Biiiiiitch guess lmao. I think everyone has, though. What is the band you’ve listened to most lately? Definitely 3TEETH. Love 'em. Favourite brand of cookies? Hm, good question. They've gotta be good at making SOFT chocolate chip cookies, though. I don't enjoy crunchy cookies nearly as much. If you could meet anyone who lived before your time, who would it be? I don't really know. Oh, y'know, chatting with Edgar Allan Poe would probably be cool. Do you pay for your own things? I literally can't. It's embarrassing. Have you ever been rushed to the hospital in an ambulance? No. What is one thing you’d never want your parents to find out? Certain sexual things I've done, probably. When you were little, did you like Dr. Suess books? Of course. Have you ever felt trapped in a relationship? I felt that way in my friendship with Colleen, but no romantic relationships. What would you consider unforgivable? Rape. Like no, go to hell. Do you like eating out at restaurants? Pre-Covid, yeah. What do you dislike the most about being the gender that you are? Probably how heavily judged women are for having ANYTHING "wrong" with their appearance. You could be five pounds over what is "normal" for your height and you're seen as fat. One strand of body hair, and you're disgusting. Bushy eyebrows, you're now manly. I could go on and on. Do you think that weed/marijuana should be legalized? Yes. Rate your typing speed on a scale from 1 - 10? 10. Do you enjoy tanning? Ugh, no. Just sitting there doing nothing but sweating. Have you ever written anybody an anonymous note? I have not. What is your favorite condiment to go with french fries? Ketchup. Have you ever laid in a hammock? Yeah; we used to have one. It was the best when we lived in the woods. Do you blow dry your hair or do you let it air out? I just let it air dry. Candles or incense? I prefer incense. Can you juggle? No. Your favorite vegetable? Broccoli. Do you catch lizards? No; I don't like terrifying wildlife. I'd much rather just take pictures of the little guys and let them go about their business. If we returned to a world without internet, what aspect of online life would you miss the most? YouTube, haha. It's more unique and personal entertainment than television, imo. Are you craving anything aside from food, and if so, what? I want a new piercinggggg. What was the last change you made to your lifestyle? I'm *trying* to get back into regularly making art, along with reading. I'm also really trying to implement drinking more water into my day. What was the last thing you gave up doing? *shrug* What was the last thing to boost your self-esteem? What sort of things typically make you feel good about yourself? It really, really helped to hear my PHP group enjoy my poem about gay rights so much. I was so terrified and did NOT want my therapist to share it, but it turned out being very beneficial. To answer the second question, it's pretty much stuff like I just mentioned: positive reactions to things I create. When it comes to food, do you prefer crunchy or softer textures? Definitely softer. Do you prefer savory or sweet things for breakfast? Hm. Depends on the day, ig. What is something small that you take extremely personally? I'm blanking. What was going on the last time you couldn’t sleep? I just... couldn't sleep. That's not rare for me. Have you drawn anything recently? I recently drew a picture of a still from Rammstein's "Mutter" music video, and I'm now working on Sara's 'kat Alucard. If you're going somewhere close by, do you walk? No. One simply does not walk in this town and not fear being shot. Do you prefer colorful notebooks over plain ones? I like colorful ones, particularly those with a nice pattern or something on it. What's your most ambitious goal? I'd consider wanting to be a successful freelance photographer to be rather ambitious. Do you know anyone named Alex? Well, knew, by this point. One of my closest online friends that just got a boyfriend and fell off the face of the planet when we used to talk every day. I'm still hurt about it, honestly. What's your favorite kind of pie? I don't like pie because of the crust being so, well... crusty and crumbly. Have you ever chatted someone up and scored a date? No. How far would you go with someone you just met? Not very far at all. All you're getting is a hug, if even that. What's your favorite meal to have for dinner? I mean, it depends on what I feel like having. I don't have a set favorite meal. What do you daydream about? The future, mostly. People I miss. Have you ever known someone online and then met them in person? If so, which website did you meet on? Yes, Sara. <3 We met via YouTube back when it had much more social connection. Have you ever been to the beach? Yeah, a good number of times. When was the last time you were sick and what illness did you have? I don't believe I've been ill in any sort of way since I had that ungodly ear infection a few years ago. Have you ever been kicked out of somewhere? Yeah, Colleen's house. Mom once tried kicking me out of the car one night otw home, but I didn't listen. Have you ever intentionally trolled? No. How many siblings do your parents have? Mom has two brothers and I think one sister, and Dad has one sister. Who last held your hand? My niece or nephew, dragging me somewhere, haha. Have you seen all the Lord of the Rings movies? No, not interested. What was the last thing you watched on YouTube? I'm watching John Wolfe's playthrough of Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. It's so funny how like... every let's player I watch doesn't enjoy the game, like they miss the incredible symbolism and shy away from the advanced language, and sometimes it's just frustrating to watch them; I only do because I enjoy the game and want to see more people experience it and relive it vicariously. It's very high on my list of favorite games. What sport do you find yourself best at? I wouldn't know; I haven't played any sports in years. I was pretty good at softball as a kid, though. Do you think makeup on guys is freaky or sexy? My opinion shouldn't matter; a man can wear makeup whenever he damn well pleases without worrying what others think. But anyway, I tend to find it attractive, especially if it's goth makeup. Have you ever been accused of a crime you did not commit? No. Do you like pickles? I love dill pickles. What was the craziest moment of your life? Probably just lying in that hospital bed following my OD, my mom and two best friends just sitting there with me. It was such a weird, weird feeling. Like I was just so done, frustrated beyond what I can say. I remember thinking it was almost funny, just how it all built up and went wrong. Where do you spend most of your time? In my room on my bed. What is your favorite muffin? Chocolate chip. Would you ever get a boob job? I already know when/if I lose the weight I want to, it will be kind of a big deal to me and my atrocious body image to get a breast lift. Being overweight ~does things~ you know, and god knows I want every trace of it that can be erased gone. Would you ever go on a reality TV dating show? That's a massive "no" from me, buddy. Would you rather be inside or outside? It depends on where I am and the temperature outside, but generally, inside. Do you like the current president? Well, I voted for him, so I can't shit-talk much. I don't know the true depths of him as a person and all he stands for, though; when I decided I needed to vote, I just did some research on his core values. I don't have any complaints yet, from what I've seen at least, which isn't a lot. Do you whiten your teeth? I've used whitening strips before, but I don't now because they're not that effective. If it's financially plausible at some point in my life, teeth whitening is another thing I want to have medically done because of my previous horrible self-care. My teeth have a clear yellow tint and I hate it. Do you get cold easily? No; it's actually the opposite: I get hot easily. What was the worst sickness you ever had? Probably this one stomach bug I had where I just threw up relentlessly. Like eventually barely even bile would come up; it was just dry heaving. My stomach muscles were in agony. Was your childhood wasted by something? No, thankfully. Would you rather die during an adventure or die like a normal person? A normal person. The idea of having such a sudden death stresses me out for multiple reasons; I mostly don't want my family to just be suddenly devastated, and I honestly want to come to peace with the fact I was dying. Like, find my life's own closure instead of just having it ripped away. Have your parents ever tried to commit suicide? Jesus, I sure hope not. Do you have a gag reflex? A very strong one. Do you ever fantasize about trying drugs? I've wondered before what the effects of weed would be like for me, but "fantasize" is definitely the wrong word. Would you rather have sex before you’re married or wait till marriage? It'd be up to my partner, honestly, because I'm fine with either. What is the nastiest dare you have ever committed? I never did dares because I thought they were stupid. Like I'm not gonna do dumb shit just to show you I can. Do you know anyone who has been raped? I think I might? Have you ever asked someone for a tampon? Yeah. Do you have any exes you can’t stand anymore? No. Are you more of a phone or a computer person? Computer. Do you prefer headphones or earbuds? Earbuds. Headphones are just big and clunky and in the way when you use a laptop in bed, plus they irritate my skin. I like how earbuds actually go in your ears for more direct hearing. Would you ever consider adopting a child with a severe mental illness? If I wanted children, no, because I don't think I'm capable to give a child like that adequate care, being so mentally ill myself. I wouldn't want to risk worsening their condition. Favorite thing to do with a significant other? Play games together, particularly cute multiplayer ones that are more about the experience of playing together versus getting past difficult obstacles and such. Like for example, one of my favorite memories with Jason is simply playing Little Big Planet together. Favorite ice cream topping? I don't like many toppings on my ice cream, but I do love melted hot fudge. First boyfriend/girlfriend’s name? Aaron. Do you support PETA? Considering they are incredibly self-righteous extremists, no. Do you believe in the Big Bang Theory? Well, I believe in some sort of "god" figure that created the universe, so I don't think so. A condensed ball of nothing exploding to create something so extravagant? It sounds pretty far-fetched to me. But then again, maybe that semblance of a "god" I believe in created the universe through that, idk. It doesn't really matter now, though, does it. What happened happened, I'm not very concerned with it. What insect can you not stand the site of? It's more so larvae that I can't stand the sight of, like maggots and stuff. They make me squirm. Do you like Doctor Who? I've only seen one or two episodes, so I can't say. Do you approve of gay marriage? Of course I do. I'm bisexual and would like to get married, so I might marry a woman. Are you into politics? I'm really not. Do you think the world is ending soon? Nah, even though it sure does feel like it sometimes. Ever been to a mosh pit? No, they don't seem very fun at all. Do you like to debate? NO. NO NO NO. Do you like the band System of a Down? Yeah, I do. Are you German? It's a big part of my heritage. Do your parents like your best friend? Yes. Who’s someone you can act your complete self around? Sara, 100%. She's the only person I feel entirely comfortable around when it comes to being myself. Do you believe in Friday the 13th? I don't believe in there being any supernatural power to it, no. Who is your favorite rapper? Eminem. What age is your youngest aunt? Uhhhh I have no idea. Do you like bowling? Sure, it's fun. Do you like roasting marshmallows on a bonfire? I do. What shows or characters scared you as a child? Ghostface from the Scream series was my worst fucking nightmare. I couldn't even see pictures of him without crying. The King Ramses guy from Courage the Cowardly Dog also gave me a number of nightmares. Something about the way he was animated was very unnatural and unnerving to me.

Not to alarm you, but... whoa
This was sent to me in an email from MVT, a tactical training group I was planning on taking courses from in the future. This is how some of these guys feel, not to alarm anyone, I just wanted to show you how serious the situation is in America right now. What you are about to read is a mainstream view, as in millions and millions and millions of Americans feel this way but are largely silent at the moment. I don’t necessarily agree with everything he says, but I thought it would be worth sharing so you could feel the same sense of alarm I felt going through my emails... - REGIII, M.D., 32, RAM ‘Modern Alchemist’
“BLUF: What you need to hear, but don’t want to.
Let’s keep things simple, shall we.
We are facing the end of the Republic. It is easily argued that it already expired, the point being that now we face a deep state coup, massive election fraud, huge corruption, an attempted Marxist takeover, and foreign control from China.
Democrats are traitors to the Republic. Republicans are not much better. The rule of law is dead: nothing that Trump has attempted to do has been done. He is surrounded by the deep state. The three letter agencies (of which so many of you are so afraid) have sold out to the dark side. They are part of the deep state.
Many of you are sold on the PSYOP that there is a plan in place. You may follow QAnon. “Trust the plan.” There is no plan. The attorneys who have attempted to fight the election fraud in court are fools. Why? Because they are working in an old system, where they had success with big lawsuits in court, and cannot get their heads around the massive corruption of the rule of law and the court system. They are working in an old system that no longer has merit. The supreme court is not doing its job. The Lawyers will not save you; you have to save yourself.
I would like to be wrong, and I would be happy to be so. But I don’t think so. Unless Trump pulls a plan out of his ass, Biden is getting sworn in on the 20th of January. The reprieve we had during the four years of the Trump Presidency will be over.
Most of America is sleeping. They expect that we will get over this. They expect a ‘return to normal.’ That is not going to happen. In 2021, it will all be over. The Republic will be finally dead. They hate you, and will be after you. That means your livelihood, your family, even your very lives. It always happens with a socialist administration. Even when you tell yourself that “it can’t happen here.” America is the prize, and it will happen here more than anywhere else.
Thus we face huge normalcy bias and denial. And this is the key, what I want to talk about here today.
I wrote a recent article called “Trust in Combat.” What I didn’t do was give you the answer to the problem. I will do so today, however much you don’t want to hear it.
The Trust in Combat article focused on the problems with forming groups, and training, and all the inherent issues about ego that will destroy a group, which is formed before the actual need for that group. Thus, we form groups now which are aimed at surviving hard times, but are operating now in easy times. Thus, ego will play and when it comes time, when you are actually in combat and the rounds are flying, it is likely to all fall down.
And that is the issue. We are either facing war, or perhaps we are not facing war at all, given the somnolence of the American population. We would tell ourselves that at some point, they must wake up. But will they? Or will they go to the camps like the citizens of the USSR? Will they tell themselves that “it will be resolved in the courts.” I really don’t know. I don’t have a crystal ball. I have no idea how this will play out.
I will tell you that there is no point waiting until the Marxist coup is consolidated, and strongly in place. Unless Trump is able to pull something out of the bag (a PSYOP story that will keep many of you hesitating) then what needs to happen is that We The People stand up. But we know that We The People will not do this. The ‘conservatives’ are either corrupt, or as seen with many of the ‘MAGA’ voters, are too focused on picking up litter and being polite, despite the assaults from Antifa. There comes a time to forget about the litter, and be rude as fuck. We are facing a civilizational assault on Liberty and the United States Constitution. And all we really care about is picking up litter, being polite, and trying to get by. There is absolutely no point in keeping arms, for resisting tyranny, if you have absolutely no intention of using them. All these quotes about blades of grass and the American Riflemen make me laugh; weapons will be banned and everyone will hand them in, because they were conditioned and told to do so (see how many are wearing masks?) Except, of course, for those who won’t; the problem being that they will be small groups and individuals.
So, however we get there, we will be at war. Whether the left comes for us, and however we resist, whether it be in small or large groups, we will be at war. This means that hardly anyone is trained, or physically fit enough; we will end up in combat as a total shit show. It’s going to be a total disaster and a lot of people will unnecessarily die. But that is just the way it is, because hardly anyone has the foresight to get fit, prepared and trained before such an event. We will be suddenly involved in some sort of Bosnian civil war scenario with absolutely no preparation and no forming of trusted, reliable, teams in advance.
So what is the solution? Individually we must do all we can to get fit, trained and equipped. We just know that we cannot form groups before the war, because of the way we are (‘Rugged Individuals’), and even groups that already exist are most likely flawed because they are not tested in combat (not fully trusted and tested in advance). The moment that the rounds start flying, is exactly the moment when all the unspoken issues of ego and trust start appearing, and before you know it, no one is doing what you trained to do (or not trained?) No one is moving. See my ‘Trust in Combat” article if you have not read it already.
What needs to happen is that, when people finally wake up and realize that they need to fight back, they need discipline and organization. People fight for a couple of things, and those can be summed up as 1) the group, and love of the group / not wanting to appear a coward in front of them and 2) discipline. This discipline can be found in the military with UCMJ, Uniform Code of Military Justice. The military is a legitimate organization where in small teams, the ‘alpha’ personalities are kept in check by a mixture of UCMJ (the hard check) and a general understanding that for the team to succeed, leaders must be supported. If leaders are generally supported, then people will do less dying (assuming competent leadership), and the team will be successful. None of this takes away from the wider discussion of leaders, for example, listening to helpful planning suggestions, not being a nightmare of a leader (effective leadership) and the rest; thus assuming relative competence from leadership, it is a good idea that the leader is supported in his role. Otherwise “we break down, the machine breaks down.”
How does this happen in civilian groups, either formed now or formed after hostilities begin? The leader must be able to rely on his team. He must be able to assume discipline and adherence to orders. When he expects someone to move, they must move. There must be a system of some form of oath, and some form of UCMJ. If people fail to do as ordered in combat, or are willfully disobedient, then they will face effective discipline.
And we know that this is not an acceptable plan for all of you “you are not the boss of me” types. ‘Rugged Individualists” (LOL), who will die as such.
When we talk about some of our favorite things, like the Revolutionary War or the Civil War, and we refer to the organizations of the day, we have to realize that these were either Armies or Militias. The Colonial Militia was an actual military force with leaders and discipline. Yes, I know that the Bosnia x Rwanda situation that we are likely to face is not the same war as they fought, but the point being that you cannot expect men to rise to combat without training and discipline. Without that they are just a mob, and will likely be as effective. And for those that don’t want to hear it, this is also not he same as a ‘militia muster’ with untrained and unfit people showing up to ‘muster’ in a field and then going home. Again, just another form of a mob.
Take it or leave it, I provide this to you as a solution. Given that it is likely to be rejected, all I can tell you is that you are best at home defending your family from the socialist hell that will be unleashed in 2021. That in itself is not an effective remedy, and allows us to be taken down one by one.
As for Trump, if he is going to act, he needs to act now. This situation will not be solved in the courts, it can only be solved by supra-legal action. By which I mean the insurrection act and whole lot of members of the coup going to jail / the firing squad. This has been termed “Crossing the Rubicon” but he must do so mindful of the best interest of the Constitution. Consolidate power, fix it, and step down. This would be truly in the spirit of a Roman ‘Dictator.’ But I don’t think he has it in him, and I don’t believe that he is really playing ‘4D chess.’ Prove me wrong. I would rather be wrong, than face the hell of a civil war, which many of us will not survive, victorious or not.”

I Didn't Vote
Yep, you heard it right. On 11/3/20, I didn't go anywhere near the polls. I woke up, went to work, went home, and went to bed. Sure, I'd had a long day, but I certainly had a chance to swing by and punch my ticket. I thought about doing it. From the time I woke up I thought about it. But I just couldn't bring myself to do it, and I didn't really know why. Even the next day I couldn't figure it out. And I've been mulling it over since then. I still don't have a satisfying reason, but at least I have a reason. Actually, I have several.
Okay, let's get this out of the way. My first reason for not voting is ignorance. No, not on the part of the political candidates, or social media, or you. I didn't vote because I'm ignorant. I know so little about the two old guys (and there was a woman, too, right? That third-party so-and-so?) fighting to "rule" our country. Here's what I do know… First, Trump: He's filthy rich. He owns some companies (honestly couldn't tell you which ones). He had a TV show (can't remember the name) and a tower. He has been our president for the past four years, and he did some things that veterans and conservatives like (I can't tell you with certainty even one thing that he's responsible for changing). He's a republican, but I think he used to be a democrat. I also think his wife's name is Ivanka, he has a daughter, and his VP is Mike Pence. Lastly, people either love him or hate him, which has only further divided our nation. He comes off at different times as a megalomaniac, a bully, and an idiot (though he may not be any of those things. Who knows?). He has no filter, he has Twitter, and he claims that everyone else is out to lie, steal, and cheat to make him look bad, which is ironic, because his ridiculous hair does that all on its own. And now on to the other guy.
I actually forget Joe Biden's name a lot. I want to call him Pence or Kerry or even McCain. Seriously, though that's not saying much. I'm horrible with names. But I also forget what he looks like. When I think about him, all I see is Jim Carrey. Oh! That must be why I tend to call him Kerry in my head. Silly me. Now… what about him? He's a lifetime politician, he's democrat, and he's really old. I know that much. And his running mate is a woman, I think. Seems like he's probably going to be our next president based on the Electoral College, but I couldn't tell you with confidence what that means. And that's about it. Honestly, I don't know anymore than that.
But why don't I know more? Am I dumb? Well… I don't think so. I received a master's degree over a decade ago (with honors, no less), and I like to think I've only grown smarter and wiser since then. I love learning new things—ideas, talents, how things work. But one of those things just isn't politics. So, the second reason I didn't vote is disinterest (I'm racking up quite a compelling argument, I know). I've written about how I don't have a passion for BLM even though I think it's a worthy cause. And I think the main reason is because it falls under the "politics" umbrella in my mind. Too many people with too many emotions and not enough listening. I just don't have the stomach for it. I would rather spend my one life changing the world one person at a time. I'd rather show love to my neighbor (as a Christian), fix someone's knee pain (as a physical therapist), and help other people get their ideas across clearer (as an editor). And, if I'm being honest, all of the doom saying just doesn't scare me. I'm a country boy at heart, and I have simple needs. My family is small, and I have a cabin in the woods. I was sad when Y2K didn't happen. I love individual people, but I'm not a big fan of society. In large groups, people are mean and naïve. And so, fear just doesn't enter into the equation for me. Life is so much bigger than what the marketing campaigns claim.
If you haven't caught on yet, I'm a bit of a skeptic. I don't know if I was born that way, but I became aware of it in college. I didn't particularly like my research classes, but I loved learning how to read scientific articles. Specifically, I love learning how to recognize BS (Biased Science, that is…). I have a knack for seeing through it in any situation. I can generally tell when people are lying, and even though I don't know everything, I do understand concepts, theories, and ideas better than the average person. And like Aristotle (and Plato), I'm keenly aware of my own ignorance as well as that of others. I see how people embrace sensationalized "fake news" and assume causality just because of correlation. Everyone does it. I do it. But I'm aware of it. I'm aware of social media algorithms, of herd mentality, of confirmation bias. And so, the third reason I didn't vote is because I assume everyone is either lying or buying into lies (lying and bullying are my two biggest pet peeves, by the way). And we've already established that I don't have the time or the energy (or the mental capacity) to learn the truth of every political topic and use those truths to set everyone straight. But hey, at least I'm honest…
Remember when I said earlier that fear didn't factor into the equation for me? Yeah, obviously that’s not true. I mean, sure, I'm not afraid of societal collapse or the end of the world. But I'm obviously afraid of being wrong. We've established that I don't know much about Trump or Kerr—er… Biden. That I'm ignorant about politics, in general. And we know that I'm a skeptic—that I have to come to my own conclusions. And most of the time that looks like stubbornness. I hate being told what to do. I hate being micromanaged. I hate the virus on my computer that sets Bing as my default search engine instead of Google. I hate the alarm on my wife's van that makes me wear my seat belt. And I hate the Facebook banners that keep telling me it's my duty to vote. I'm a grown boy. I can make those decisions all on my own. And I will not blindly trust a random source with dubious intentions to make those decisions for me. And, as much as I love my friends, I don't buy their claims that it's my duty to vote, either. Countless brave men and women did not die for my DUTY to vote. They died for my freedom to do so. Same as my freedom to be a Christian. Which means I'm also free to NOT vote.
But why wouldn't I WANT to vote? Because I'm afraid of whom I would have voted for. I'm aware of where I live and what my local culture thinks. In short, I voted for Trump last time, and I probably would have voted for him this time. And I couldn't stomach that thought (side note: I do have one regret, and that’s not voting local. I do know people personally who were running for office--as well as local bills--but I missed the opportunity to vote on things that I DO know about because of my fear of voting for the “wrong” president). It’s not that I doubted that Trump would do positive things while in office (even though, as I said, I'm not sure what he actually did the past four years…), but I'm just so tired of everybody acting insane. There's a reason I don't have cable. There's a reason I only get on social media to post pictures and check my notifications. And while I don't buy into all the sensationalism claiming the president has ultimate power, I do believe that he has a microphone. And a Twitter account. And even though our government is based on checks and balances, our media definitely isn't. If Biden is, in fact, our president for the next four years, my only hope is that he'll keep his mouth shut.
Okay, everyone's mad at me now. And that's okay. I put myself out there. I was honest about my ignorance, my bias, and my fear, which is more than I can say about most other people (presidents included). And maybe my honesty will compel others (you?) to reevaluate the "truths" they (you?) assume are self-evident. It's taken me four years, but I finally understand what "Make America Great Again" means. What would it take for our country to be great? Accountability. That's it. If every man, woman, and child did everything possible to give back to our country, we WOULD be great. If we worked hard to repair crumbling buildings, if we painted breathtaking murals, if we learned classical philosophy and used it shape our thoughts, if we refused to blame someone else for our unhappiness, if we did everything in our INDIVIDUAL power to contribute to the greater whole, if we truly loved our neighbors and gave them the shirt off of our back regardless of their political leanings… THAT would make us great. Right now, we're all so divided. We're all so afraid and easily manipulated. I've chosen to put my time and energy into things "smaller" than politics, but that doesn't mean I don't care about the future of my country. Quite the opposite, in fact. And hopefully, when I'm dead and gone, my tombstone won't read, "The guy who didn't vote in the 2020 presidential election."

THE HATING GAME BY SALLY THORNE
Page Count: 387 pages Publisher: William Morrow Release Date: August 9th, 2016 Purchase Options: Amazon, Indiebound, Barnes and Noble [ Click Here For My Full Review ]
“Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She’s charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual. Trapped in a shared office together 40 (OK, 50 or 60) hours a week, they’ve become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship. There’s the Staring Game. The Mirror Game. The HR Game. Lucy can’t let Joshua beat her at anything—especially when a huge new promotion goes up for the taking. If Lucy wins this game, she’ll be Joshua’s boss. If she loses, she’ll resign. So why is she suddenly having steamy dreams about Joshua, and dressing for work like she’s got a hot date? After a perfectly innocent elevator ride ends with an earth-shattering kiss, Lucy starts to wonder whether she’s got Joshua Templeman all wrong. Maybe Lucy Hutton doesn’t hate Joshua Templeman. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.”
This book is what finally pushed me into reading adult romances. Yeah, I had read a couple before this one, but this is the book that made me fall in love with the genre. I know it’s been talked about by most everyone, but if you haven’t read it yet, this summer is the perfect time (especially with the movie in the works)!
THE KISS QUOTIENT (THE KISS QUOTIENT #1) BY HELEN HOANG
Page Count: 333 pages Publisher: Berkley Release Date: June 5th, 2018 Purchase Options: Amazon, Indiebound, Barnes and Noble [ Click Here For My Full Review ]
“Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases — a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old. It doesn’t help that Stella has Asperger’s and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice — with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can’t afford to turn down Stella’s offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan — from foreplay to more-than-missionary position… Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but to crave all the other things he’s making her feel. Soon, their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic… ”
Firstly, if you aren’t a fan of series, don’t worry. This is just a series of companion novels, so you don’t have to commit to them. But trust me when I say, after reading this, you will want to. I just love this book so much. These characters are just absolutely amazing and you will not regret picking this up!
JOSH AND HAZEL’S GUIDE TO NOT DATING BY CHRISTINA LAUREN
Page Count: 309 pages Publisher: Gallery Books Release Date: September 4th, 2018 Purchase Options: Amazon, Indiebound, Barnes and Noble [ Click Here For My Full Review ]
“Hazel Camille Bradford knows she’s a lot to take—and frankly, most men aren’t up to the challenge. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd don’t send them running, her lack of filter means she’ll say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment. Their loss. She’s a good soul in search of honest fun. Josh Im has known Hazel since college, where her zany playfulness proved completely incompatible with his mellow restraint. From the first night they met—when she gracelessly threw up on his shoes—to when she sent him an unintelligible email while in a post-surgical haze, Josh has always thought of Hazel more as a spectacle than a peer. But now, ten years later, after a cheating girlfriend has turned his life upside down, going out with Hazel is a breath of fresh air. Not that Josh and Hazel date. At least, not each other. Because setting each other up on progressively terrible double blind dates means there’s nothing between them…right?”
I have two Christina Lauren books on this list because I am addicted to their books. However, this one is by far my favorite of theirs. It’s a friends-to-lovers done so well, you won’t be able to put it down. I know I wasn’t able to.
RED, WHITE, AND ROYAL BLUE BY CASEY MCQUISTON
Page Count: 423 pages Publisher: St. Martin’s Griffin Release Date: May 14th, 2019 Purchase Options: Amazon, Indiebound, Barnes and Noble [ Click Here For My Full Review ]
“First Son Alex Claremont-Diaz is the closest thing to a prince this side of the Atlantic. With his intrepid sister and the Veep’s genius granddaughter, they’re the White House Trio, a beautiful millennial marketing strategy for his mother, President Ellen Claremont. International socialite duties do have downsides—namely, when photos of a confrontation with his longtime nemesis Prince Henry at a royal wedding leak to the tabloids and threaten American/British relations.
The plan for damage control: staging a fake friendship between the First Son and the Prince. Alex is busy enough handling his mother’s bloodthirsty opponents and his own political ambitions without an uptight royal slowing him down. But beneath Henry’s Prince Charming veneer, there’s a soft-hearted eccentric with a dry sense of humor and more than one ghost haunting him.
As President Claremont kicks off her reelection bid, Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret relationship with Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations. And Henry throws everything into question for Alex, an impulsive, charming guy who thought he knew everything: What is worth the sacrifice? How do you do all the good you can do? And, most importantly, how will history remember you?”
You all knew I would have to put this book on here. It’s my obsession. The love of my life. I know this book is getting a lot of hype right now, but let me tell you, it deserves all of it. This book is really something special. Not only is it an adorable romance with enemies-to-lovers and plenty of wit, but it’s also a powerful read that you don’t want to miss.
THE UNHONEYMOONERS BY CHRISTINA LAUREN
Page Count: 400 Publisher: May 14th, 2019 Release Date: Gallery Books Purchase Options: Amazon, Indiebound, Barnes and Noble [ Click Here For My Full Review ]
“Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in…well, everything. Her identical twin sister Ami, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a romantic comedy (gag) and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of Internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man. Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from eating bad shellfish, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And now there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs. Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him is suddenly at risk to become a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds, and her luck seems worse than ever. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of… lucky.”
While Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating may be my favorite Christina Lauren book, this one is pretty close. Enemies-to-lovers, fake datings, and basically every other classic trope everyone loves found their way into this extremely fun read.
WELL MET BY JEN DELUCA
Page Count: 336 Publisher: Berkley Release Date: September 3rd, 2019 Purchase Options: Amazon, Indiebound, Barnes and Noble [ Click Here For My Review Teaser ]
“Emily knew there would be strings attached when she relocated to the small town of Willow Creek, Maryland, for the summer to help her sister recover from an accident, but who could anticipate getting roped into volunteering for the local Renaissance Faire alongside her teenaged niece? Or that the irritating and inscrutable schoolteacher in charge of the volunteers would be so annoying that she finds it impossible to stop thinking about him? The faire is Simon’s family legacy and from the start he makes clear he doesn’t have time for Emily’s lighthearted approach to life, her oddball Shakespeare conspiracy theories, or her endless suggestions for new acts to shake things up. Yet on the faire grounds he becomes a different person, flirting freely with Emily when she’s in her revealing wench’s costume. But is this attraction real, or just part of the characters they’re portraying? This summer was only ever supposed to be a pit stop on the way to somewhere else for Emily, but soon she can’t seem to shake the fantasy of establishing something more with Simon, or a permanent home of her own in Willow Creek.”
Okay, I know this one won’t be published until summer is over, but I need to mention it. It’s absolutely amazing! Seriously, it’s completely worth the wait. The relationship is so perfect, the characters are all amazing, and it takes place at a Ren Faire!!! What more could you ask for?

What It Took for a Fox News Psychiatrist to Finally Lose His License https://nyti.ms/2MbUGZu
What It Took for a Fox News Psychiatrist to Finally Lose His License
Keith Ablow was a popular fixture on the cable channel until 2017, and a high-profile therapist. He left a trail of vulnerable female patients who claim he abused them.
By Ginia Bellafante | Published Dec. 20, 2019 | New York Times | Posted December 21, 2019 |
Late in 2009, a 28-year-old woman not long out of graduate school found herself in a stressful job at a Bronx hospital and decided it would be useful to talk to someone. Searching online, she came across the name of a psychiatrist, Keith Ablow.
Dr. Ablow was familiar to her from his writing, both his journalism and the best-selling thrillers he turned out — “Denial,’’ “Projection,” “Compulsion,’’ “Murder Suicide.’’ She had read all of those, as well as “Psychopath,’’ a book about a psychiatrist who prods the interior lives of strangers only to kill them, baroquely obscuring the distinction between patient and victim.
The woman — who has asked to be identified only by her confirmation name, Monique — found Dr. Ablow just as his media star was rising. That year, Roger Ailes had hired him as a regular contributor on Fox News, where he would remain until 2017, speculating about the mental states of political figures and presiding over viewer segments like “Normal or Nuts?”
Dr. Ablow offered counseling in the conventional sense, but he also conducted life-coaching via email. Monique engaged with him this way at first, but after she answered various questions about her past, mentioning adolescent bouts of depression, she agreed to see Dr. Ablow in person. His busy schedule meant that she would have to go to his primary office, in Newburyport, Mass. He was impressive to her, and so Monique made the five-hour trip for her first visit.
Over the next year and a half, Monique saw Dr. Ablow two or three times a week, at the reduced rate of $350 an hour. During this time she found herself coming unwound.
Her anxiety about work did not recede. On the contrary, she felt increasingly addled and insecure, and problems that had been latent for a long time resurfaced. She began cutting herself, something she hadn’t done in years.
Monique came to believe that Dr. Ablow had not only failed to help her; he left her more damaged than she already was. For his part, Dr. Ablow would maintain that whatever boundaries she thought he violated — the frequent texts and emails, the intimate revelations about his own life — were in the service of her treatment, well within the standard of sound psychiatric care.
As Monique would discover, it would take years — and several other patients coming forward with their own stories of manipulation — for Dr. Ablow’s transgressions to be taken seriously.
The case represents a core challenge of psychological treatment. At a cultural moment in which all kinds of relationships are policed for abuses of power imbalance, psychotherapy takes place in seclusion: two people, alone in a room, with one holding extraordinary influence over the other, just as it has been since Freud. It remains a world with murky oversight, and if you are harmed, it is not obvious what can be done.
By the time Monique left his care, her new marriage had fallen apart and she had developed a dependency on Valium, Xanax and Adderall. She also said she had drained her savings of $30,000 to pay for the treatment.
Most alarming, she had become obsessively, insidiously reliant on Dr. Ablow’s affirmation, a circumstance she and her lawyer would later suspect he engineered.
On an unusually hot late-summer morning, in a coffee shop just north of the city, Monique recounted how she had come under Dr. Ablow’s thrall. When she finally disentangled, she filed a complaint with the disciplinary board in New York that oversees psychiatrists — a body that works secretly and can take years to respond to charges. In this case, when it finally completed its initial review of Dr. Ablow, it found no reason to sanction him.
As we spoke over several hours, Monique’s caution gave way to a fluid and emotional narrative. It was easy to imagine her on the other side of conversations that played out this way hundreds of times. She was, in fact, a therapist herself.
That she had this training compounded the embarrassment anyone in her situation would surely feel. Monique was reflexively skeptical about human motivation. As a child she had resisted authority. How had she landed here?
From the beginning, Dr. Ablow presented himself as an idealized caretaker more than a guide. “As if he said, ‘Let down your guard, let go of everything and completely fall on me, because I will give you everything you ever needed. And you need nothing but to trust me,’” she reflected.
This was intoxicating to Monique. Her childhood had been marked by her father’s volatility, her mother’s emotional absence, a difficult relationship with her brother. With Dr. Ablow, she found herself in the strange state of feeling both further weakened by her past and protected from it.
If therapy is the project of overcoming, Monique belatedly came to believe that Dr. Ablow urged her neither toward strength nor self-reliance. “He did make me feel beautiful and precious and special,’’ she said. “But very broken.’’
On May 15, Dr. Ablow’s license was suspended in Massachusetts after an investigation determined that his continued practice was a threat to the “health, safety and welfare” of the public. He is appealing the ruling.
This article is based on interviews with Monique and others, including her current therapist as well as legal and medical documents obtained by The Times. Dr. Ablow did not respond to attempts to speak with him directly, but his lawyer, Paul Cirel, issued a statement on his behalf, writing in an email that his client would not “breach the ethical/confidentiality standards of his profession” and comment further.
Earlier this year, Dr. Ablow referred to the claims Monique made in her legal complaint to the health department in New York as “groundless.” He has categorically denied all allegations of sexual misconduct against him that have come up in subsequent cases. And he has said, as he did with Monique, that to whatever extent he revealed personal information with patients, he did so in the effort to help them work through issues of psychological importance.
On Feb. 5 next year, a hearing will take place in Massachusetts that will ultimately determine the future status of Dr. Ablow’s medical license.
From the outset, Monique had inklings of doubt about Dr. Ablow, but she easily suppressed them. Her first meeting with him ended with a prescription for an antidepressant. Although she found it curious that he would administer drugs so quickly, she deferred to his approach.
The boundary between patient and doctor was permeable from the start. Dr. Ablow took Monique to a taping at Fox; he connected her with a literary agent when she wanted to write. On one occasion, she mentioned she was near his office with her dog. This was in Newburyport, where she still went for treatment on occasion, running up bills in local inns, in addition to seeing him in New York. She knew Dr. Ablow had expressed an interest in meeting her dog, and he briefly left a session with another patient to come outside and play with him, she said.
Their sessions had an improvisational, transgressive tone. According to her official complaint, Dr. Ablow twice wondered, for no apparent therapeutic purpose, whether Monique had genital piercings. At one point, when she was describing a conflict with her father, Dr. Ablow responded: “Why don’t you tell your father to come stick a gun in my face and see what happens.”
Money was an ongoing problem for Monique, and she eventually questioned why so much of her costly time in therapy was spent listening to Dr. Ablow talk about issues he confronted in his own life — that his sister was drawn to broken men, that his son did a lot of pacing.
These confidences nonetheless made Monique feel as though she held outsize status with Dr. Ablow. Which made it all the more painful for Monique when she felt dismissed by him — when he would arrive late for their sessions, she said, or text and email during them.
Any of these incidents might have given her pause, but it took what she regarded as an explicit act of cruelty to compel her to leave. Early on, Monique had told Dr. Ablow that she feared, above all, being physically trapped — imprisoned, taken somewhere and locked up.
Many months later, during a disagreement about something relatively minor, she said, Dr. Ablow suggested that he might have to hospitalize her. Hospitalizing a distraught psychiatric patient is not an unreasonable course in certain circumstances, but Monique was certain he was preying on her vulnerabilities.
“I couldn’t trust him after that,” Monique said.
When Keith Ablow was in medical school at Johns Hopkins University in the 1980s, after graduating from Brown, he hoped to become an ophthalmologist. It was a mentor at Hopkins who suggested psychiatry, recognizing someone profoundly curious about other people’s lives.
His ambition was evident early on. He wrote the first of his 16 books, “Medical School: Getting In, Staying In, Staying Human,’’ while he was still a student. A paperback edition featured a blurb from The New England Journal of Medicine.
In the mid-1990s, Dr. Ablow was interviewed for a book, “In Session: The Bond Between Women and Their Therapists.’’ The author, Deborah Lott, had met him at a gathering of clinicians and found him to be insightful on the subject of boundaries and transference. Ms. Lott thought of him “as one of the good guys,’’ she said recently, “an advocate for women.”
Before his emergence at Fox, Dr. Ablow was a familiar presence on daytime talk shows, where he delivered advice with a brash compassion. Ms. Lott had lost track of him until his television appearances. As a Fox commentator, she said, his persona was radically different from the one she remembered. (A spokeswoman for Fox confirmed that Dr. Ablow’s contract was not renewed in 2017 and had no further comment.)
On TV, Dr. Ablow’s habit of diagnosing political leaders, particularly President Obama, who he believed suffered from abandonment issues that made him a weak leader, sparked criticism from a profession that maintains a fierce distaste for this sort of conjecture.
In 2014, Jeffrey Lieberman, chair of the psychiatry department at Columbia University, publicly denounced Dr. Ablow, who in turn responded with a clever press statement: “I am apparently joined by my nemesis Dr. Jeffrey Lieberman in rejecting the position that psychiatrists ought not comment on public figures. Lieberman condemned me as a ‘narcissistic self-promoter’ — yet he has never interviewed me.”
In November of that same year, Ms. Lott received a circumspect email from a young woman who had read her book and had questions about Dr. Ablow’s involvement. It was Monique. She was wondering what Dr. Ablow was doing in a book about boundaries. “She had no ax to grind,” Ms. Lott recalled, “other than trying to make sense out of what had happened.’’
Two years earlier, in 2012, Monique had outlined all of her allegations against Dr. Ablow in a lengthy complaint she made with New York State’s Office of Professional Medical Conduct, the agency empowered to suspend and revoke psychiatric licenses.
In these documents, she claimed that Dr. Ablow had crossed multiple boundaries, overwhelming her with details about himself — that he had been attracted to his children’s babysitters, for instance, and that his marriage was unfulfilling.
He asked her to coffee frequently. He encouraged her to move in with a female friend of his in Manhattan when Monique separated from her husband, only to later tell her that the roommate he recommended was “nuts.” He mentioned to Monique that he wanted to send a former all-star running back for the New York Giants to her as a patient. He also suggested that she date him.
At one point, while she was still seeing Dr. Ablow for regular therapy, he offered her a job with his life-coaching business. She took it, counseling people remotely. For a few months, she was both his patient and his employee.
In the course of her efforts to establish her own practice, Dr. Ablow encouraged Monique to move to Newburyport, which would be cheaper than New York.
She almost went through with it.
Monique had recently married a man after a four-year engagement, yet her ambivalence about him persisted. Dr. Ablow knew all about this. In fact, when she emailed him on the eve of her wedding, he gave her confounding advice. In his reply, he implicitly encouraged her to go through with it, at the same time remarking that marriage itself was “absurd.”
On the day she planned to move and leave her husband behind, in January 2011, a tremendous storm hit the Northeast. She decided to stay in New York, where she continued to see Dr. Ablow for another six months.
Once she made the decision to leave Dr. Ablow, Monique met with a Manhattan lawyer, Audrey Bedolis, who has concentrated in psychotherapeutic malpractice since the early 1990s.
Ms. Bedolis knew that cases without accusations of sexual misconduct, clear physical abuse or some other singular, dramatic incident are typically hard to litigate; she and her client eventually abandoned plans for a lawsuit. But Ms. Bedolis believed that the sheer volume of Dr. Ablow’s boundary trespasses would surely result in disciplinary action from state authorities.
In the dynamic between Monique and Dr. Ablow, Ms. Bedolis saw something all too familiar. Though she knew only Monique’s side of the story, it seemed to her a clear case of exploitation that, while it did not involve sex, was just as devastating. “First he medicated her when she never thought she should be medicated,’’ Ms. Bedolis said. “Then he lured her in as the only person who could help her.”
For several years, Monique waited to hear something from the conduct office in New York. In October 2017, the office finally wrote to say that it had found “insufficient evidence’’ to bring any charges of misconduct against Dr. Ablow.
One week after the New York board wrote to Monique saying that it would not sanction him, it sent a separate letter to Dr. Ablow, stating that in her case, he had failed to render proper care and treatment and that he prescribed medications inappropriately. He was told to refrain from boundary violations.
But there was no punishment for this; his license to practice psychiatry in New York remained in good standing.
This spring, however, based on Monique’s claims and the testimonies of four other female patients, as well as several former employees of Dr. Ablow’s, the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine ruled that Dr. Ablow practiced “in violation of law, regulations, and/or good and accepted medical practice.” As a result of that suspension, he consented to cease practice in New York, where a renewed investigation by the conduct office is underway.
Three of the women — like Monique, all young — told an investigator for the Massachusetts board that Dr. Ablow had become sexually involved with them during the course of their treatment. One of them said that he introduced her to sadomasochism and hit her with a belt during their encounters, exclaiming, “I own you.”
In a formal written response to the board, Dr. Ablow denied this, as well as the charges that he had been physically intimate with the other patients involved in the case.
In a statement issued in August, Dr. Ablow’s lawyer, Mr. Cirel, addressed the charges in a series of malpractice lawsuits brought against Dr. Ablow, which were settled out of court this year, as well as the allegations in the complaint to the state, writing: “We are pleased that the civil matters have been amicably resolved. Dr. Ablow can now focus his attention and resources on overturning the Board of Medicine’s order of temporary suspension, so that he can restore his medical license and resume helping patients into the future, as he has countless times in the past.”
Last winter, before the suits were settled, Dr. Ablow appeared on a Boston-area news show, where he addressed them and claimed to be a target of cancel culture. “A male, a public person and a Trump supporter,” Dr. Ablow said in the interview. “So am I surprised? Yeah. But shocked? No.”
In his rebuttal to the Massachusetts board, Dr. Ablow said that one of his accusers had a history of falsely accusing men of sexual misbehavior and that she had essentially confused what happened between them with the actions of a recurring character in his novels.
The documents filed in conjunction with Dr. Ablow’s suspension reveal something else as well — that in three separate instances in which his medical license came up for renewal in Massachusetts, between 2013 and 2017, he failed to notify the state that he was under investigation in New York. During the renewal process, an applicant is asked specifically if he or she is under investigation in a different state. Dr. Ablow said that he wasn’t.
After her time with Dr. Ablow, Monique was apprehensive about trusting a new therapist. Eventually she returned to the psychoanalyst she saw during her first year of graduate school, Robert Katz. Recently, she gave permission to Dr. Katz to speak about her experience with Dr. Ablow.
Monique entered treatment with him shaken by what had happened to her under Dr. Ablow’s care, he said. Dr. Katz viewed the boundary violations she described as a means of grooming her for a sexual relationship.
Of everything she brought up, Dr. Katz added, one detail stuck out most in his mind: that Dr. Ablow had suggested to Monique that she become an escort to earn the extra money she needed. (Dr. Ablow has denied ever saying this, and denied it again when another patient made the same claim.)
In recent years Monique has settled into a successful private practice (this is why she insisted on anonymity in exchange for participating in this article).
Still, even now, after all she has come to understand, she finds herself occasionally missing the connection she had with Dr. Ablow, longing again to experience how much she imagined she meant to him.
When a psychiatrist, psychologist or social worker is barred from practicing, it does not necessarily mean that they are prevented from dispensing advice, in an office, for profit. Life-coaching is a career open to almost anyone; requiring no credentials, it is largely unregulated.
After the suspension of his license, Dr. Ablow repositioned himself. The Ablow Center for Mind and Soul in Newburyport identifies Dr. Ablow on its website as someone who “practiced psychiatry for over 25 years before developing his own life-coaching, mentoring and spiritual counseling system.” Over the summer, he took courses in pastoral counseling at Liberty University, the evangelical Christian college in Lynchburg, Va.
The Ablow Center is expanding its services, including free therapy for veterans once a month. It also announced an essay contest for high-school and college students considering a career in counseling.
Beyond that, visitors to the center’s website can find regular blog posts from Dr. Ablow, like a recent entry with the headline, “Why a Depression and Anxiety Consultant Could Be the Key to Recovering.”
For anyone “still’’ feeling anxious or low, Dr. Ablow had some wisdom: “It may have nothing to do with you,” he wrote, “and everything to do with the treatments being offered to you.”

A Little Jealousy || Kim Mingyu
Summary: Mingyu x reader College Au where Mingyu is the reader’s knight in shining armor.
Genre: Angst maybe? For me at least. Floof!
Requested?: Yes! I hope you like it and feel free to request more!
“Y/N!” I heard my name being called as I walked out of my dorm building. Turning my head to the source of the sound I saw my friend, Vernon, half-jogging towards me. It brought a smile to my face and I waved at him as I waited for him to get to me. When he finally did he threw an arm around my shoulder and started walking towards the school, “Ready for class?”
“That’s one way to say it. I stayed up until 4am working on this speech if I don’t get an A I’m going to cry.” Vernon laughed as I took a deep breath, at least one of us was calm. The idea of giving a speech in front of the class was my worst fear and I’d been having anxiety over it for weeks. Public speaking was already terrifying but to add to it I was a little bigger than a lot of the girls at my school and a lot of people, especially the boys, seemed to like to comment on it. I had thought the kids in college would be more mature but so far they seemed not much different from the kids in my high school.
“Don’t worry,” Vernon said, pulling me out of my downward spiral, “You’ll get an A plus plus and graduate top of our class and become president or whatever you want to be and you can thank me in the future for being the one to encourage you,” as he finished talking he put a hand over his heart as though he was clutching it and looked to the sky. I laughed a little and shook my head. He was great at lightening the mood and I was grateful that he was able to make me laugh even when I felt like I’d rather crawl through a train of spiderwebs than go to class.
As we reached the door to the school building he finally took his arm off of my shoulder and opened the door, letting me walk in ahead of him. We walked to the classroom in silence and took our seats. I counted down the minutes and seconds until class started, unable to focus on anything else. The teacher greeting the class sent a spike of adrenaline to my heart. Everything seemed like a blur as she started calling people to do their presentations. When she finally called on me the rush of anxiety felt physically painful.
The walk to the front of the class simultaneously feeling way too fast and unbearably long. I started to overanalyze everything. Was my hair okay? Did I smell? Did my outfit match? Oh no… maybe a crop top was a bad idea. As I reached the front of the class it felt like everyone was staring at my choice of outfit, judging the way my stomach stood out in the high-waisted jeans or the thin strip of skin visible above the waistband. When I’d put it on this morning I’d felt cute and like it would give me confidence during my speech, but now I was feeling like it showed my figure too much. I looked around the class at everyone and felt my heart drop a little further as I locked eyes with Mingyu. He was in a couple of my classes and unfairly attractive. However, he wasn’t just good looks, he had an amazing personality to match and I was powerless to stop myself from falling for him. Seeing him staring at me I felt a thousand times more insecure and I tried my best to pull down the crop top I was wearing in an attempt to cover up the skin there.
Taking a breath I finally started my speech and with shaky hands read the words on my cards. The next few minutes passed by in a blur and at the end, I felt a wave of relief and pride in having managed not to cry or spontaneously combust. I immediately walked over to my seat, took the biggest breath I could manage, and slowly released it. Finally done with the assignment that had been causing me the most anxiety I felt like I could finally relax. After class was finally over Vernon and I went to the cafeteria, getting some food to celebrate me not fainting during my speech. As we were waiting for our food he suddenly had to go to the bathroom and left me waiting alone. I pretended to be texting someone on my phone to avoid eye contact as I waited. When the food was finally done I grabbed both of our trays and found a seat. Just as I was about to eat someone from my speech class came to my table and sneered at me.
“One meal isn’t enough for you?” he said and then turned his attention to my outfit gesturing very vaguely at my shirt, “Didn’t anyone ever tell you crop tops aren’t for people with your… body type?”
Deciding it’d be better to just ignore him I didn’t respond but I also didn’t eat, unable to stop myself from feeling a bit self-conscious at his words. I just looked down at the table and hoped either Vernon would come back quickly or this guy would go away. I found a third option to solve my problems in the form of a familiar voice yelling at the person making fun of me.
“Hey! Why don’t you stop being an ass and keep your unwanted and inaccurate opinions to yourself?” I turned in the direction of the voice and saw Mingyu walking over. My heart skipped a beat seeing him stick up for me. It felt like I should be a lead in a movie and I had to stop myself from getting lost in that ridiculous fantasy.
The guy who had been bugging me backed off but not without muttering something snotty under his breath and huffing. Mingyu sat down in the seat across from mine and smiled at me. I forced myself out of my shock to talk, “Thank you, for saying that.”
“No problem, that guy was a dick. Don’t listen to him by the way, you look great,” as he said this, Vernon finally came back, taking the seat next to me where I had set his tray.
“What did I miss?” He asked, digging into his food right away.
“I’ve gotta go,” Mingyu said, already standing up to go, “I’ll see you later, Y/N.”
“Oh, uh, bye Mingyu,” I responded, feeling slightly disappointed that he was leaving already.
A few days later I had a class with Mingyu again and I was oddly excited for a class for the first time since the beginning of the year. As much as I tried to stop myself from raising my hopes I couldn’t help but feel hopeful that maybe something would have somehow changed just because he stood up for me the other day. I put a little extra effort into getting ready, hoping he’d notice the extra effort. When I walked into the classroom he wasn’t there yet and I was slightly disappointed. As the clock ticked closer to class time I wondered if maybe he wasn’t going to show up today. I pulled out my phone to distract myself until class started and when the teacher arrived and started the class I gave up hope that he'd be coming today.
Ten minutes after class started I felt someone sit next to me and looked over to see Mingyu. He gave me a small smile, which I returned, and then focused on the teacher. I couldn’t get rid of the smile after he broke eye contact so I tried to hide my mouth behind my hand and did my best to focus on what was being taught.
“Hey, Y/N?” I heard as I was packing up after class.
“Yeah?” I said as I turned to see Mingyu already packed up and watching me.
“Um, I was wondering… if you wanted to go get some food with me?” He asked and my heart nearly skipped a beat as he bit his lower lip. I could feel the heat in my cheeks and simply nodded in response as I didn’t trust myself not to stutter if I actually spoke. My response made him smile and he waited for me to pack up my stuff. We walked to the cafeteria, making small talk on the way. When we got out food and sat down I was laughing at one of the jokes he made when suddenly Vernon came up to us.
“Hey! Fancy seeing you here!” He called out and took a seat next to me.
“Yes, not many people come to the school cafeteria so it was surely unlikely to see me here,” I responded sarcastically and rolled my eyes at him a little.
“I’m glad you get it,” he laughed and stole a bite of my food.
“Hey! Jerk go get your own food.” I punched him.
Vernon looked at me and smiled a big fake smile, “But yours tastes just fine.”
Rolling my eyes at him for the second time I turned my gaze back to Mingyu and saw that he was frowning slightly while staring down at his food. I frowned with him wondering what was wrong. Just as I was about to ask him he excused himself and started walking away. Without knowing what brought about the boldness I told Vernon he could have my food and followed Mingyu out. It took me a bit to catch up with him because of his long legs but when I did I reached for his arm to slow him down.
“Y/N? What are you doing? Aren’t you going to finish eating?”
“I wanted to talk to you, you seemed upset,” I answered, scrunching my eyebrows together and pouting slightly.
“I’m fine, honestly, just go eat with Vernon,” he said, stressing Vernon's name in a way that made it seem like it was Vernon he was upset with.
“Are you angry at Vernon?” I asked, tilting my head a little to the side. To my knowledge they didn’t see each other much outside of class so I didn’t know why he’d be angry at Vernon.
“I’m not… angry at him. He seems like a good dude, I just... nevermind. It’s stupid anyway.” He turned away and started walking again and I jogged to catch up with him and held onto his arm to stop him.
“It’s not stupid, please tell me. I wanna know what’s wrong.”
“It’s just… embarrassing and I feel stupid even saying it.”
“I won’t judge, it can be stupid, that’s fine,” I joked, attempting to lighten the mood. He looked down and muttered something but I couldn’t hear him.
“What did you say?” I asked, moving a bit closer to hear him.
He sighed and spoke up a bit, still avoiding eye contact, “I like you and it seems like you and Vernon like each other and I’m jealous.”
The smile that overtook my face was impossible to stop and I squeezed his arm, trying to make him look at me. It worked and he looked confused at the smile on my face. “I don’t like Vernon, we’re just friends” I assured him, “I like you too, Mingyu. When you stood up for me the other day I felt like a lead in a drama, where the leading male came to my rescue.”
He smiled and wrapped me in a hug, “I’ll stand up for you any day, I’ll be your personal knight in shining armor.”
“How could I ever repay my handsome knight?” I giggled and looked up at him.
He hummed as though he was thinking about it and feeling the vibrations in his chest made me smile more. “I think I know something,” he finally said, looking down at me.
“And what would that be?” In place of a verbal reply he leaned down slowly and I closed my eyes as he placed his lips on mine.
“I still don’t think that’s enough,” I said, “We’ll have to do this more. Maybe when we’re on dates, for example?”
“I think that could be arranged,” he smiled and wrapped his arms around me tighter.

“so what if we’re wild, we only live once.”
requested
BUCKLE IN FAM, BECAUSE THE NEWSIES IN HIGH SCHOOL FOR A MODERN AU WOULD OBVIOUSLY INCLUDE…
(also, keep in mind that this is based off of my experience in the american school system, any classes are ones that are offered at my own school.)
Bill
so he’s obviously head of the journalism staff
and he definitely is a part of yearbook too
and what is he interested in most??
chemistry
no one really understands why, but they don’t question it as long as he helps them with homework
and bill is 10/10 that guy who always has his homework done and let’s you borrow it
his worst class is by far history
he’s in choir and plays the piano for like, every song
he actually has a really nice set of pipes (he’s a tenor, too)
he’s terrible with dates
Darcy
so darcy is on yearbook because he can take the most stunning photos
and he is also a part of journalism, and his niche is critiquing
plays?? restaurants?? sports??
and yes, he goes to sporting events
and yes, romeo gives him a wink everytime he sees him at the baseball games
it’s a ship to end all ships
he isn’t quite sure what he wants to do in the future
i forgot to mention - these are headcanons for when each one is a senior in high school, i’m not working out ages in relation to each other. find someone more motivated for that
but he does know he wants to go to a really nice college
he’s definitely on chess club, and he’s a member of key club too
Katherine
journalism, guys. and she’s not into heavy creative writing, more like articles and interviews and such
president of debate
and her style game is strong - she, bill, and darcy are the three best dressed. facts.
she makes such pretty notes
and she slays in argument writing
english is obviously her favorite class, but a close second is her research class
and she actually sucks at cooking - she took culinary arts as a sophomore and set off the fire alarm twice
she has a free period in her schedule where she goes to the library and slaves over math
it doesn’t come easy to her
definitely has an old-school planner that is always full
Sarah
okay, i don’t know much about sarah - full disclosure, but i’ll try
so first of all, this girl is really put together
she has her schedule mapped out two months in advance, she remembers everyone’s birthday, and she already knows the vacation days during the year
she has library aide for one of her periods and knows every adult in the building by first name
she also happens to be an aide when kath has her free period and she is either the embodiment of the heart eye emoji or trying to help katherine with math
she loves psychology and already has plans to study it
she is in key club with darcy and also just volunteers a whole lot
her favorite is visiting and helping out animal shelters
she goes there so much that they finally just give her a job there
she doodles a lot on the side of her notes - it keeps her from falling asleep in science
the master of the messy top knot
Davey
okay, this boy does not know when to stop
he is taking all of the advanced classes he possibly can, and he’s stressing over them way too much
jack makes him like, 10 cups of stress relief tea daily
there’s also a running bet that the whole school is in on about whether he or kath will be valedictorian
specs says that davey will do it if he doesn’t have a heart attack before final exams
race says he’ll be so busy he’ll forget to even show up to graduation
also, while we’re at it, we need to talk about this boy’s notes. they are the hardest thing to decipher in this world, but if you can read his chicken scratch then you have a goldmine of helpful ways to study
he loves mnemonics with a burning passion and uses them at every chance he can get
his favorite class is chinese or math
and he’s definitely a part of future business leaders of america, mesa, and book club
Les
yes, this is for when les is a senior
he’s obviously not in the same year as the rest of the gang, but les as an 18 year old is gold
okay, first of all… heartthrob who genuinely doesn’t know it
he’s not actually officially part of any club, but he’s always staying after school afterward to like, float into the different club meetings
but he’s definitely an sbo - probably vice president or activities
he’s a part of band and definitely plays the saxophone
you know that means he starts off every class period by playing careless whisper
the teachers all really love him
he actually gets pretty good grades
and he is way overly competitive in review games, especially ones in history
he will wreck you
always goes off campus at lunch and walks into his next period a couple minutes late with a shake
Jack
did someone say art?????
jack does literally every form of it, and he does them all so well
davey seethes at this, but loves it when jack helps in in ceramics
he’s also really supportive of younger artists who are still perfecting their art, so he’s obviously the head of the art club
and he’s the paint master for drama club and all of their productions
he frequently falls asleep in english class
he’s also the president of latinos in action - chosen unanimously even though he wasn’t going for the position
y’all can fite me on latino! jack kelly
also, his signature style is a blue sweatshirt, and all of his clothes have paint on them
he’s also that kid who never has a pencil on him, and never returns the ones he is given just because he always forgets
Crutchie
so i don’t know where the headcanon about crutchie being on the swim team originated, but it is dear to my heart and lives on in this post
he is the nice™ jock
also, he wants to go into the medical field for sure
he had medical terminology as last class of the day and it makes his day 10 times more bright
he uses highlighters so much (but only the yellow ones)
also, crutchie is lowkey a style icon???
all of his teachers love him
he’s that kid that always raises his hand in a group discussion, and it’s one of two things: a lame pun that gets more groans than laughs, or a really insightful bit of knowledge
there is no in-between
definitely volunteers with sarah at the animal shelters and is a part of french club, even though he’s only ever gone to like, two meetings
Albert
albert wrestles, no one can convince me otherwise
but he’s also on dance co.
we love a well rounded boy - especially when he’ll pull up if you question his life choices
he is soooo salty, and he has no filter. Even in front of teachers.
anyone in his history class can attest to this - especially when they are going through america’s messy past
literally does not care about the majority of his classes
but he maintains a good gpa so he can be on the wrestling team
also, he failed his driving test twice, and when he got his license it didn’t make a difference since no one would trust him with a car anymore
but he’s actually really good in his business and marketing class
he frequently helps in the little store that the business class runs during lunch and stuff because he’s really good with money and change
Race
a part of dance company
and he hates the early morning practices with a passion but will just chug energy drinks to get through it
this boy doesn’t sleep… unless it’s in english
the most surprising thing about him is that he’s really good at math??
and he doesn’t even try - he’ll be talking all class period and then finish the homework in class in like, 10 minutes flat
it’s the same thing with physics
but it’s not like you can ask him for help, because he doesn’t really listen to the professor or follow their methods and steps
like i said earlier, race just doesn’t care
or so you think, but his shirt is always matching the color of his shoes and headphones, but then his hair is literal mess and he wears like, he only owns like, two different pairs of joggers
he’s honestly such a mystery
Buttons
okay, so buttons kills it at fashion, which is why he aces his fashion design class
he’s head costumer for all of the drama departments musicals and plays
he’s also really into art history, and he gets inspiration from art all the time
he’s definitely a part of key club and is a part of national honors society although he’s only ever gone to a couple meetings for both
he gets pretty decent grades in everything but physics, but he definitely tries to study for all of his classes
he goes stag to every school dance and deliberately tries to get his ships together for a song
coffee??? he only ever drinks it black
it’s how he stops romeo from taking his
he’s also a dork who color codes his notes because they help him study better
but he has no idea how to take notes for math class, so he kinda just does example problems and then is confused on how it ever did it in the first place
Elmer
so this is one musically talented boy
he plays the guitar, trumpet, and drums
it’s also an inside joke with him and jojo that they both play the castanets
but he’s definitely a part of any band the school offers - as well as pit for the musical
he’s a really chill, laid-back student that gets their work done and just hangs out
he is very nice and definitely a teacher aid for one of the english teachers
and he’s also a part of the poetry club
it’s to improve his songwriting as well as give him a place to destress
He’s definitely the guy who will always lend you his notes if you missed a day, but he’s also not that great at taking notes because his mind is always on something else
he’s also an attendance office aide for one of his periods
Henry
he took ballroom as a joke with mike, and he really ended up liking it
but he’s not a part of dance co. because their style is totally different from ballroom
He also has a lot of energy, so he’s that kid that’s always bouncing his leg up and down and making the desk behind him shake
but no one ever asks for him to stop because he has the biggest smile that you just can’t shut down??
he knows this, though, and he definitely uses it on teachers to get extensions on his work, and he does, like 80% of the time
his worst class is probably english because he can’t just sit down and read for long periods of time
but during the shakespeare unit he kills it because he’s always first to volunteer to read or do a part
his handwriting is very messy and he uses so many abbreviations not even davey knows what they’re saying
always races to be first in the lunch line
always one of the first people to be in class
Hot Shot
he has auto shop as his first class of the day and absolutely loves it
but he’s also that kid that hangs out with his friends in the middle of the hallway, bottlenecking the whole thing during passing time
thinks he’s the cool™ kid
wears leather jackets exclusively
he hates any core class
but secretly really likes his humanities class
he’s taking italian with spot and the poor teacher just can’t handle these two together
he’s also secretly good at basketball
the coach found out somehow and asks him every year to be on the team
but hot shot would rather die than be on a school team
Ike
has a youtube channel where he mostly posts prank videos especially those that involve the school
he ran for sbo and was elected as treasury, even though mike is the one who went to all of the meetings for like, two months straight
he is the epitome of a class clown, but it’s always in good fun
he always is wearing a black t-shirt under his sbo sweater
and since he’s an sbo he has to go to all the sports game to support and stuff and he cheers the absolute loudest
he does gymnastics with mike after school every day and at every sbo meeting he brings up how it needs to be a part of the sports at school
he never takes notes but can retain everything
his worst class is anything science related
but he’s secretly really good a history
A proud member of spanish club
Mike
mike is definitely the more artsy twin
he takes drawing and ceramics but can’t paint for the life of him
he’s a part of the art club with jack and is basically second in command there
he does gymnastics with ike after school and is on dance co.
he struggles with math and science but gets by okay
has a free period for first where he could be sleeping in or studying but instead he goes to auto shop to talk to hot shot
he definitely has a crush. hot shot won’t admit it, but he loves mike being there.
he usually wears bright colors with his dance co. jacket
doesn’t really like coffee, but he always has a coke on him - it’s his one weakness
is also a part of spanish club
Kenny
okay, so i know, like, nothing about kenny, so i’m just going with my gut based off of his photo
film is his passion and he wants to be a director one day
is 10/10 that kid in your photography class that spends 90% of the time making stop-motion videos
he’s very nice and is always lending jack pencils even though he knows he’ll never get them back
also, there’s a running gag that he and darcy are the same person, ike runs conspiracy theory videos on his youtube channel
his two favorite classes are film (duh) and theatre
he’s a part of the ensemble of every musical the school puts on
he’s even directed a show a couple of times for the spotlight showcase
he is like that background kind of kid that is a part of the big groups and is totally included but just doesn’t have a huge role in the big stuff
he hates having to write essays because he says it’s sucking the creativity out of writing
also likes psychology
JoJo
co-captain of the soccer team
also a madrigal with bill and specs (he’s a baritone)
always tries out for the school musicals, and he usually gets a main part
he takes quite a few advanced classes and it is not rare to find him passed out on one of the other newsies’ couch
he manages to keep a good gpa with his schedule
his favorite class besides madrigals is probably latinos in action, which he has the same period as jack
while he doesn’t play any instruments himself you can always find him hanging out in the band room at lunch
he is absolutely terrible in math but is taking college math now so he can get it done with and never have to do again for as long as he lives
his aspirations are pretty much all over the place at the moment, but he smiles through the uncertainty
“i feel like it’s fine”
Romeo
on the baseball team
a shameless flirt, especially with darcy
did someone say president of the asian american club??
he’s also a part of drama club because he has a passion for theatre
he can’t when it comes to math, though
so instead of getting frustrated he just writes notes in the calculators for people to find
he’ll also fall asleep in that class
he’s definitely a partner in crime with ike and frequently is a guest on his youtube channel
studying??? who’s she???
really good at debate, though. katherine keeps telling him he should join the club but he says his skills are beyond that of a club
Finch
on the track team and one of the fastest runners
it’s a good outlet for all of his energy
he takes notes in all of his classes since he learned all the strategies from avid, but he never looks back at them
surprisingly gets really good test scores, though
you know he takes wildlife biology and he memorizes like, every type of bird call
he can even mimic some of them - it’s how he wakes romeo up in math.
he also goes out every day for lunch, and his next period is english which he has with like, all of the boys, so he’s always throwing fries across the room for henry or mush to catch in their mouths
he beats his own school records every year so he’s like, constantly the athlete of the month
definitely goes to all of the different sports games and cheers very loud
carries a huge water bottle that he fills up during french class to get out of presentations
Kid Blink
first of all, this kid does not do any kind of sport because his depth perception rivals that of mine
which means it s u c k s
however, he kills it at math and physics is his one true love
If you need a study partner for either, he’s your guy. just know that he explains nothing and goes pretty fast. keep up and you can do math with him.
he lowkey hates history because it’s about a whole bunch of dead people who were problematic
he’s a part of mesa
he takes american sign language and it’s one of his favorite classes
he and smalls are constantly having conversations from across the room
a lot of the time it’s about the teacher, and one time they were caught by their chemistry teacher who knew asl
they got detention for like, a week because of it
Mush
here comes the heartthrob!!!!
very handsome, and his strong suit is engineering. which always shocks people.
which means he’s definitely a part of mesa and the engineering and technology club
he’s definitely the person to go to if you need help in physics. he explains things really well
the only bad part about it is that he also goes off on tangents when he’s explaining and you can get confused if you listen too long
he’s actually kind of a style icon, his hair is probably the best out of everyone
he always has headphones in, but one earbud is out so he can hear the teacher and whatnot
he cannot act for the life of him
but he has a good-natured laugh that makes up for the cringe
he also cannot dance
Smalls
okay, so smalls is a part of the asian american club, key club, and poetry club
even though he cannot write to save his life, they let him come because he’s uber supportive
there’s also a joke that he and spot are a part of the short™ club
lowkey, smalls started this joke because he finds it hilarious when spot gets upset
he actually takes interior design and it’s his favorite class
he’s really good with color
he also takes woodworking and makes the guys stuff for it
davey has a bookshelf and jack has a desk
takes asl with kid blink and loves it
is the kid who always has to stand up to take notes because seating charts always put him in the back, despite his height
Sniper
okay, so sniper is a cheerleader but don’t let that fool you - she’s also on the wrestling team and will take you down
albert is like her older brother and helps her with her business class
she regrets having taken it, but she needed another cte credit and thought it would be safer than welding
she has a criminal law class that she loves with all of her heart
she writes in all capitals
she’s also that kid that writes all of her essays handwritten to spite her english teacher which, on the first day of school, complain about her writing in all caps
she’s good with history and has it with albert and it’s her personal goal to get him to laugh at her comments in that class
studying??? sounds studious. and not a part of her aesthetic.
has an attendance office aide period where she mostly does the homework for her next class period
is that kid that always almost swears in class debates
Specs
first, our boy is president for madrigals (he’s a low bass)
then he’s a proud part of the book club
his thing is psychology, and he goes in hard, he and sarah sit next to each other and talk in hushed whispers about all the cool stuff they learn
he takes very neat notes
but only has to look at them two or three times before he’s ready to take a test
is always an ensemble member in the school musicals
he is also a library aide and constantly smells like old books
very organized
his locker always has everything you could possibly need - a jacket, hat, bag of trail mix, water, etc.
the mom friend™
Spot
first of all, he’s that kid who always sits in the same seat. if you’re sitting in his seat, you’re dead. don’t @ him.
he hates science with a burning passion and is so glad he finished all of his credits for it in junior year
is actually a bit of a history buff
but he never participates in class, just writes really good essays and aces every test
and speaking of writing
he’s actually really into creative writing
who did you think started the writing club???
but he’s no less tough
he always wears a leather jacket, a red shirt, cuffs the bottom of his jeans, and has his pen tucked behind his ear
he doesn’t really take notes, and he only writes in pen
Tommy Boy
captain of dance company
is having none of race’s idiocy at practices either
but he’s actually really funny and nice, all the teachers love him
can’t write a summary in english for the life of him but will write a 10 page essay on why dance company is a part of the performing arts and deserves just as much recognition as theatre, choir, and band
only ever eats out of the vending machines for lunch
is a part of french club
really likes culinary arts because his one weakness is sugar
can’t do any form of art other than dance
but he doesn’t need to - he’s that good
notes??? what are those???
