Our conversation with Bernard-jiichan carried on for a little while. I spoke to Lindsey on the phone once a week, but we did not get to see each other in person often. Moreover, this time jii-chan offered his persective on the stories I’ve told him, so it might sound like something entirely new to Lindsey.

As expected from jii-chan, he took good care of me. I guess that is fitting for a gentleman.

Obviously I could not talk about the X-Playing cards, so I had to cut a large part out of the whole story about my job, but then again there was not much I had to do everyday as a High Card member. So far it’s enough to give Lindsey the gist of my daily routine.

The usual Lindsey is homely and easily forgettable, but he is honestly a handsome guy. Perhaps he used to be quite popular.

Once, I asked him if he was ever going go get married, but he said that he was too occupied with the orphanage to consider marriage. Apparently, he had been separated from his partner then.

However, I remember that at that time, with a smile blooming on his face as he hugged me, Lindsey told me that he was truly happy just to be with us.

That said, Lindsey also had his own life. He deserved a chance to spread his wings a little. If I managed to do well at Pinochle and get a raise, on top of buying the property, I would also be able to hire people. That would make things easier for Lindsey.

——Just like that, 3 hours had passed. Somehow Bernard-jiichan still kept up with me at the orphanage.

But our presence really did gave rise to a big fuss. Afterall, seeing an unusual visitor, moreover one who was willing to play with them, made the children very excited.

The first thing we did was to play chase. The kids had limitless physical stamina, and that aside they took turns playing, so I became reasonably exhausted. On the other hand, perhaps because jii-chan had a great sense of when to use his stamina, although he must have been running as fast as I was, he did not even seem to be out of breath.

Soon after that, a magic show was set up in the cafeteria. Jii-chan made use of handkerchiefs, trump cards, and other stuff which we already had at the orphanage, and tricked them to disappear or change—thus the kids got excited all over again.

The kids did not even spare a glance at me, but they seem happy nevertheless. Finally, as jii-chan said, “won’t we play together again when I visit?” the show came to a close.

At around the same time Lindsey came back home, so I asked, “how was your date?”, and while looking embarrassed he gave me a V-sign using his fingers. It was known for a fact that this guy enjoyed romance novels and films, but when it comes to his personal romantic ventures, I had no clue about what kind of guy he was. I really did not get what a V-sign means, but I guess I’ll ask him on the phone next time.

Then when the night fell, jii-chan and I hopped to our cars and returned to the branch office. The kids waved their hands at us as they usually did, but this time I’m sure they were directed at jii-chan.

Jason would have to take a lot of time to think about breaking up with you before he does it, and he certainly doesn't want to. But his constant thoughts of you getting into danger or being hurt like he was because of his lifestyle he can't think of another option in order to keep you safe.

When he does break up with you he tries his best to stay emotionless and will keep all emotion in until he's walked away from you and you can't see him if he can. He wants to break things off as clean as possible, and in doing this emotionally he can hopefully prevent you from trying to make him stay.

Jason instantly has regret about what he did and leaving you but he sticks to his decision as he feels like it's to late to turn back. He's believed he was doing the right thing for a long time and doesn't want to instantly ruin the plan he's decided on just to potentially put you in danger for a longer amount of time.

The regret eats him alive and he's in pain because of the break up for an incredibly long time, it may even be something he never recovers from. However, he firmly believes that you're a lot safer now without him and hopes you're doing well without him putting your life at risk.

He's so angry and stressed about the breakup that he forces himself into crime fighting binges and constantly puts himself in danger to get in as many fights as he can whilst getting rid of crime in Gotham at the same time. By doing this Jason is able to get out everything the breakup has been fuelling inside of him while also making Gotham a safer place for you to live in, even if he can't be with you.

After doing this for so long he realises that these feelings won't go away and that he can't cope without you. You calmed him and humbled him during the times he was ready to go on rampages and he realises that without you he'll only cause more terror and damage in the city than good, which is the opposite to what he wanted from his actions.

Jason will start to watch you from a distance in order to get closer to you again without directly putting you in danger again. He's desperate to see you with his own eyes and the idea of something happening to you without him knowing further pushes him to watch over you and protect you without you potentially realising that he's there.

If you've moved on from Jason he'd be absolutely heartbroken and consumed by his own anger. He'd act out and would potentially put himself in many life threatening situations just to distract himself, and he'll get seriously hurt as a result. People he's close to would try to intervene, but to Jason it would be too late to change anything and may even result in behaviour stemming from his Arkham Knight days.

If you don't move on and you're just as hurt by the breakup as he is then he'll be incredibly upset by it. He would instantly realise how much of a mistake it was to leave you, especially in the way that he did it, so he makes it his new goal to make you happy again and ensure your safety by being close to you as much as he can rather than keeping his distance.

He'd approach you on a quiet night when he doesn't have much crime to deal with and would try to sit you down for a long conversation where he's honest and open with you. He'd be severely upset and emotional during the conversation but his main point would be apologising to you and asking for another chance if you'd give it to him.

HI HI HI, I saw you talking about Douma. So as the number 1 Douma fan in the whole world/j I've come to ramble >:3 (Both with Cg and Little HCSS Since I see him being a flip!!!) (note: I'll keep these as spoiler free as possible until you're caught up or unless you're ok with being spoiled about his backstory :3) LITTLE HCS: -He is a pretty picky and spoiled little! He needs to have things be perfect! If he is given something that he doesn't like or want (I.e clothes, toys, blankets, or even food) than he will just refuse to use it. Just completely pretending it doesn't exist or asks (politely demand) for the thing he actually wants hehehe -He looves making messes while Little! be it with paint, playdough, slime, glitter glue, glitter, anything he can get his hands on and makes a mess with he will!! The amount of glitter he has gotten stuck in the Tatami mats is insane hehehe -He LOVEESSS BATHS!! Especially Bubble baths!! He has dozen of bath toys and soaps he uses! He could stay in the bath for houuurs if he could!! And while he does prefer it warm, he won't get upset either if it starts to cool down after a while! He very well could stay in their even when the water becomes ice cold hehehe CAREGIVER HCS:

-He is super affectionate as a caregiver!! he loves spoiling his Littles and giving them everything and more! And he is more than happy to break his wallet if one of them wants to buy every toy they see at the store hehehe -He is a really good story teller!! He loves reading storybooks to his Littles and will do silly voices for all the characters!! But when he notices his Little is getting sleepy, than he is a master at starting to slowly tone it down little by little until they're asleep -He is SUPER patient with his Littles too! It is near impossible to get him upset, even if his Little is punching, biting or kicking him (read Akaza) he'll never lose his smile and gentle voice! He'll just wait for them to calm down before finding a way to solve their problem!!

All in All he finds both roles fulfilling in a way!! He likes making people happy and taking care of others- ESPECIALLY if they are people he's fond of!! Like Akaza, Daki and Gyutaro! And seeing them let down their walls with him and the soft moments when they're cuddled up to him somehow always sparks a bit of warmth in his chest ^^ And being Little let's him experience a childhood he never got to have!! He gets to just let go for a while and not be the one in charge and taking care of everybody else! He can just be a kid, and play as much as he wants without worrying about being the adult in the room ^^

Spoilers are fine if they happen, I don't really care. I don't go looking for them but it comes with the territory of hyperfixation on a series that you haven't actually finished

~Oh he would be so fussy with just about everything. Favorite food from yesterday? Yeah well now he hates it. Toy that he wanted but it’s a slightly different design/color? Having a melt down

~I was going to say that all that glitter makes it impossible to wash out, but then I agree that Douma would love bubble baths so maybe it was all a ploy. Now Akaza on the other hand is screaming. He is going to find glitter on him for a month and he is none to thrilled about it.

~Oh good heavens he just becomes one with the water. Imagining just slowly sinking further into the water when his caregiver wants him to come out- like ‘nuu you can’t make me’

~Awww super clingy as a caregiver. Just wants to make sure that his little one knows that he’s always going to be there for them. Any little is spoiled rotten and Douma then is probably just like ‘well how did that happen’ as though he wasn’t the cause

~Also roll with me for a moment, cat regressor Akaza, but more in the sense that he’s like a feral cat. Also sharp nails cause of the you know whole demon thing, Douma just has ‘kitten scratches’ on his arms from trying to carry the little who very much did not want to be held

Now here’s some headcanons that have been bouncing around in my brain the last 24 hours >:3

I have more thoughts on him taking care of Daki and Gyutaro but my brain won’t let me put them into words (eventually I will) so just regressor headcanons for now

~Kokushibo would be Douma’s main caregiver, or at least the one most likely around when he’s regressed. That or Akaza, but I just don’t see Akaza putting up with him alone lol

~Clingiest baby. If someone isn’t paying attention to him at all times he’s going to do something drastic to make sure that they do. (Like trying to break some decoration, or color on the walls or throw glitter at Akaza)

~Honestly, I just think his favorite pass time is annoying Akaza, and the other can’t even get angry at him because he’s like three years old. Also because Kokushibo will absolutely get on his case if he thinks Akaza is being mean to the baby. And Douma 100% knows this and uses it to his advantage. All just silly pointless things that any ‘younger’ brother would do to their older sibling

~Enjoys it when Nakime plays music for him. Now did it take him a bunch of times to get her to actually play him a song and not just teleport him away? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Best way to get a nap is just lying next to her and listening to her play

~Drags Akaza into headspace without meaning to whenever Akaza swears that he could babysit. It’s just that Douma wants to play make believe with the other, because it’s boring if Akaza just sits there. Most likely that ends up with Kokushibo having to look after two little ones.

~Absolutely preens at the idea of being the ‘older brother’ who’s constantly wanting to help with Akaza when he’s super small.

-Marcus, Percy, Arin, Sora, WF, and Euphie have mega sleep-overs where they buy a bunch of food from the crossroads and play games (they do everything except sleep)
