Guys, please read the FAQ in my pinned posed before sending asks, like the ask button says. You don't have to read them all- just a quick check to see if i have answered your question already and especially to see my stance on requests.

I'm not taking drawing requests at the moment. If I hit an art block and start taking requests, I'll make a post about it and update my pinned post.

Currently there isn't actually a plot line I'm following- its more of a "day in the life of the neighborhood" kind'a thing.

The main points of interest though is Wally's home being alive and it watches him sleep at night.. this causes Wally to have terrible sleeping problems and anxiety. But no one knows Home is the culprit..

Another point of interest is Julie secretly actually being a huge beast that is simply disguising herself as this pretty little harmless neighbor.. she truly is a nice person and loves her friends, but she has disguised herself to look this way so that people wouldn't be afraid of her. Only Frank knows what she really looks like..

And lastly, Eddie is a real human from our/another world. He was somehow brought here to the neighborhood.. he has no memory of his original life..

Octo is intended to kind'a have normal old man problems- he's kind'a far sighted, has a cranky back, gets tired easy, gets winded faster than he used to.. other than that and the natural aches and sores that came after his major injury- (that comic you're referencing) he's relatively ok! :00 (Those dizzy spells that I talked about come from when he overworks himself.. normal old man things! <:D)

Seafoam is intended to be the youngest of his siblings, and his eldest sister was a rotten egg that had kids way too young.. and her kids were ALSO rotten eggs that had THEIR kids way too young. One of those kids being Red. So because of the age gap between him and his sister, and both generations having kids at like 20 years old... Seafoam is 55-65 and Red, his great nephew, is like 4-6...

Spider crab tends to not interact a whole lot with Pinwheel and Tuna, since they are a little too high energy and loud for him. 😅 But Coco and Red are nice company. :)

Spider does worry about the crewmembers that are missing limbs or eyes.. he does his best to offer help without overstepping. Sometimes those things are sensitive to talk about.. Also Spider sure looks old, but I pictured him being somewhere in his late 30s. Stress will add a lot of age to your face... 😅

I can see Spider crab, Louis and Tuna spending the most time in the kitchen just to be around Ellie. Although if one of them comes for a visit and one of the other 2 is already there, they probably wont stick around long. <XD Spider doesn't like Louis or Tuna's noise and Tuna like's to be alone with Ellie to talk peacefully.. As to who cooks when she cant... I can see the crew eating things that don't need to be cooked until she gets better. Pre-baked bread, easy sandwiches, etc- in an emergency though I can see the crew catching fish and Louis cooking them for the crew :))

Red might have nightmares yeah.. although his family were pretty rotten so this new crew is actually rather nice.. also Coco is his favorite playmate :))

I'm thinking she met Cuttlefish the same time the rest of the crew did. As for what made them friends, I kind'a like the idea that Urchin can see right through Cuttle's facade. She's not used to having someone see through all her lies, see the REAL her.. and still want to be her friend. Its nice.. 🥺

I haven't decided what the neighbors reactions would be since I have no plans for Julie to reveal herself.. though even if she did, I have a feeling she would want to maintain her smaller form. Even if it takes more energy..

To Julie, this body represents who she really is. Who she really wants to be. This is how she want's the world to see her. Even if the truth got out and everyone accepted her. She'd stay in her smaller form anyways..

So far I don't have intentions for there to have been any tenants before Wally.. or at least no one will ever find out who they were or what happened to them.

As for how old Home is, I haven't decided this and its also a complete mystery to the neighbors. Poppy has lived there ever since she was a child and Home was already there when she moved in..

Now Home could get creative and find different ways to harm or even kill those it doesn't like.. but thankfully Home doesn't have any intentions to hurt anyone, especially not Wally. Home wouldn't even try to significantly hurt Barnaby, despite him getting in the way of Homes plans.. although Home cant resist the occasional stubbed toe or splinter out of frustration...

As for adding stuff to Home's body.. if Wally purposefully slapped a strip of duct tape on the wall, that wouldn't really become a part of Homes body. Things only really attach to Home if they are significant.

Examples being a new shelf. An added wall to split a room, cutting a hole in the wall and installing a window, ripping up carpet and installing hardwood floors, etc. The nail holding up a picture frame or that nail gun plugged into the wall are not apart of Home..

Though that's not to say Home cant control the outlets, it can! But that would only give Home the power to turn the nail gun on and off. Home cant make the gun fire..

As for plants, even if they engulf Home and grow in-between the floorboards, Home cannot control plants.. or if there was moss or some kind of fungus growing on the walls? If it ate away at the wood that plank would just die off and Home couldn't feel/control it anymore..

Lastly, Home being able to move things quickly is kind'a what you would imagine. Home moves them as fast as that object can reasonably move. How fast do you think you could slam a door? How fast do you think the window would slam down shut if you gave it all your might?

My idea is that Wally only really has sleepovers with Barnaby. He would have sleep overs with Howdy too, but that Pillar's on a pretty tight sleeping schedule/routine <XD

Now Barnaby has noticed that Wally sleeps better when he crashes at his place. Because of this he has started offering his house as a getaway for Wally when ever he notices he seems a little extra tired..

Something to note; neither Barnaby nor Wally think something is wrong with Wally's house because of this- they're just starting to think that Wally's anxiety is worse when he's alone..

Welcome to Ask Fazbear 'n friends! A FNAF Ask account ran by a rando who is nostalgic for the early fnaf nonsense-furry era!!!!! Account originated on Deviantart in 2019. Some disclaimers (as previously stated.) I started this ask account originally when I was about 16 and drew a LOT for it in 2019-2020 specifically. Because of this, there are some things that are either silly or may come across incorrectly. Here are sum clearer-ups: (Only specifying because I used to get dumb questions on DA a lot from people who ignore the possibility of context) -I don't ship william afton x mangle/mangle's "kid/dog soul". I ship springtrap (the furry animatronic) with Mangle (the furry animatronic). No soul business involved in that context. Theyre just two angsty furries thats it. think tony crynight. -I USED to ship Vanny x William Afton. I started this account before security breach came out and revealed the two to be father and daughter and I didn't think it was possible bc William was a dead corpse for longer than however old vanessa looked. My version of vanny (like everyone elses at the time) was nothing at all like canon vanny anyway, so I consider her more of an OC than of the character Vanessa. I'll likely try to bring back the "Vanny oc" character, her current changed name is Penny until I decide what else to do with her. Any asks to Vanny/Vanessa will go to the canon version of her -I had a whole ask arc about characters wearing "femboy clothing". and have had drawn responses implying suggestive/sexual things. It was always just a joke to me but I think the lengths I went were a little uncomfortable for me to be drawing as a teen and posting to a large audience. I want my content to be appropriate for anyone to enjoy so consider that type of humor incredibly toned down now. All of the characters are physically asexual bc they are robots made for kids.

Chapter 7: A Passing Shower

Two pin-ups. Both boring. Let's move on.

(And wow, we got translated titles now! Cool.)

It's Fireworks Season (CAN THIS GAME GO A SINGLE DAY WITHOUT A FUCKING EVENT)! Shugo wants to watch a show irl but Rena demands they watch the virtual fireworks because...she has severe allergies that prevent her from going to the beach, I guess. Ouka comes up and Shugo immediately thinks he's gonna see some bikini-clad tits...and Ouka shows up in her dog form in an applauadable troll move.

Ouka comes bringing news about a hidden event. The gag was supposed to meet up with Hotaru later but---GO! GO AND LEAVE A NOTE IMPLYING YOU WERE RAPTURED!

At the Cursed And Deadly Secluded Forest Manor, Shugo and Mireille are ready for some horror. Rena...not so much. She's clearly freaked but puts on a brave face for her brother. Inside, they find a nice manor interior. Rena thinks a suit of armor winks at her somehow. Ouka hits and...it's just a suit of armor. Mireille outright calls her a pussy and Rena denies it. Her proof? Nearly killing her own twin brother over being spooked by Kamiya. Shugo wisely stays in his lane and ignores his twin sister's manslaughter.

Rena proceeds to break off the first rule of being in a haunted house: don't run off by yourself. Chasing her, Shugo and Mireille run into monsters called Invisibles. Shugo chops them down easily and runs off for his sister...surprising Mireille, who remembers that Invisibles are supposed to be pretty tough enemies. Is Shugo getting stronger? His general track record suggests...no.

Rena is still lost by herself, bemoaning how she wanted to keep her fear of spooky stuff a secret from Shugo. First, the insult comes when she walks into a torture chamber. Then the injury...she gets ambushed by a Lich Lord. Shugo jumps in to defend her with Mireille and Ouka in tow. Shugo recognizes the Lich Lord's element as Dark so he commands Mireille to hit it with Thunder spells and tells Ouka to focus on wearing down its HP. He then asks Rena to use her Hunter's Bane to increase all of their attack accuracies because wizard types are notoriously hard to hit. As Ouka and Mireille observes, our boy Shugo is becoming quite the Chad...an RPG Chad. The best kind of Chad. Rena observes that he's truly becoming like Kite.

They defeat the Lich and head back to Town Square, making back in time for the fireworks. Rena asks when Shugo suddenly transitioned from pull-ups to toilet training (i.e. how did he get so strong). Apparently Shugo been grinding offscreen. He's also checked out newsgroups, read the FAQs...all because he didn't want to rely on the bracelet too much. Rena asks why he decided to give a shit all of a sudden. Shugo smiles and says he promised her he'd be a hero. To keep us from experiencing actual pride in our protagonist, Shugo quickly mocks his sister for being afraid of ghosts. Rena brushes it off before reminding Shugo (and informing us) that entrance exams are coming up so their days playing .hack are numbered. Shugo thinks about Aura for a second...before Hotaru shows up to catch the fireworks. Sadly, it looks like there's going to be no fireworks because it's raining. Despite being Emperor of Trolls, long may he reign, it turns out the rain wasn't Balmung's doing. The background music changes too. Everybody hears it...and the chapter ends with everybody seeing Aura.

THOUGHTS:

Finally, a decent chapter again.

Shugo's development feels kinda rushed and forced (in the "let's make this kid strong enough to last against the next enemy without questions being asked" kind of way) but it's nice to see him being allowed to be competent for once. And those are realistic methods to improve in a game in a short time in real life. Plus, nice sibling moment with no incest subtext! I didn't know they knew how to do that.

(TW) I don't know if you've answered thus BUT in ep 4 (i think) Laito us clearly harassing Yui and humiliating her in the church. He does the same in the game. But does he r@pe her or just sucks her blood? Cuz it wasn't clear and the scene itself was so confusing

OOH OH!!!! OK!! I’ve been meaning to talk about this for a LOOOONG time LOL! Because it is very confusing going over it for the first time! I’ll break down the scene that it was based off of in the game (HDB Dark 09) and episode 4 in the anime.

Buckle up fellas! I’ll give y’all a brain blast.

For some tangential and/or extra reading, here’s my entire HDB analysis and an analysis I’ve done on episode 4 before. Definitely not required to read this one though!

And as always, more under the cut!

GAME VERSION:

So in Dark 09, we start out with Yui being at the church. She’s reminiscing all the warm memories she had at the church, so she came to pray. However, Laito comes in, teases her that she expected a “knight in shining armor” (although this isn’t important, it’s just funny in an awful way), and asked her if she came to “pray.” However, he says プレイ (purei) not 祈る (inoru- “to pray”). The katakana spelling of “pray” can also be translated to “play” (or even prey) in English. So the double (or even triple, depending on the context) meaning is very interesting. He knows Yui came to pray, but he is considering this time with her to be more of a “playtime.” He uses this same double meaning in his song, “Bloody Sabbath.”

Laito furthers a guardian angel motif by comparing them to his familiars he has watching over Yui. This is how Yui finds out that he has familiars watching her every move. He continues to harass Yui in the same Laito fashion, with rhetoric similar to the one in episode 4.

Laito: Exactly. I don’t think I need to remind you, but on days like this…It aches so badly… Yui: …! Laito: Even the Church is a place I would rather avoid if it wasn’t for these special conditions.But today I am especially greedy. I want you. I want to pin you down and drink your blood to my heart’s content.

Here’s just some snippets of Laito’s harassment upon Yui. In my HDB analysis, I mention this:

On top of him continuing to gaslight Yui, this scene takes place in a church. It’s incredibly symbolic to the shame Yui feels before and especially after she is forced to endure Laito’s games. The church is a home for her, and for Laito to take that away from her by making her ashamed of practicing her religion anymore is soul crushing. 

Not exactly related to whether or not Laito rapes Yui in this scene, but I do love this scene so much because of how symbolic it is. So let me compare it to the church scene in the anime.

ANIME VERSION:

This scene is a lot shorter than it is in the game. Laito says a lot of the similar things in Dark 09 like “wanting to expose Yui” and how much he wants to drink her blood, and how he’s getting excited by her facial expressions, etc etc etc. I think most of us know this scene well. It is also revealed in this scene that Yui’s being watched by familiars, but on top of that, we learn how Yui was given to the brothers by the church. This doesn’t happen in the game, but I felt like I needed to put it in anyways.

BOTH SCENES AND CONCLUSION:

Both scenes still have the blood sucking motifs and actions. We all know how blood sucking is still a sexual activity. So regardless of Laito raping Yui, this is still assault, and most definitely sexual harassment and assault given his words that he wants to expose Yui and give her love––which we know is a sexual kind, whether through sex or blood sucking. It’s still making Yui vulnerable in a nonconsensual manner. She’s still going through sexual trauma regardless. Even if they weren’t vampires, this would still be sexual assault.

So in Dark 09, we know that he does not rape Yui. Why? Well, the first time he rapes her is in Maniac 07. We know this because of this exchange and rhetoric that I also mention in my HDB analysis:

Laito: Fufufu…Oh well, it’s okay. Seems like it’s almost the right time. I’ve gotten worked up as well. I’ll do even more pleasurable things to you, okay? Yui: Let me go…already… Laito: Fu…Come on, the starting shot has been fired. (5)

And in Maniac 08, Laito and Yui have this exchange:

Laito: More importantly, hey? How was that thing from the other day? Does it still hurt? Yui: …! Laito: So it really does after all~ Nfu~ Ah…Rather than ‘hurting’, the term ‘aching’ might be more accurate. Did it feel better than usual? Yui: …!

Laito: Well, you’d be in trouble if such a small thing already left you in shock.

So we know something different happened than usual. By the wording of Laito treating it as such a “small thing,” it can be implied that this is when he first raped her, considering he’s used to being sexually abused in that manner with Cordelia. Obviously, it is not a small thing, but he’s trying to write it off as one. It’s kind of like saying “oh you didn’t know *insert fact here?* I thought that was common knowledge!” kind of teasing or just general statements.

So from Dark 09, we know that Yui did not get raped in the church. For episode 4? It is harder to tell on that scene alone because a lot of it is meant for interpretation, so I believe you could go either way with that scene. Analysis can’t do much for that scene, unless if you were to argue two ways. In the start of episode 5, Yui’s just remembering what Laito said about how she’s a sacrifice. She does not act like how she acts in Maniac 08. However, that’s just my opinion and regardless, the anime is not as good as the visual novel when it comes to showing and not telling, and it is a pretty short runtime. So they had to cut a lot of it out. But once again, I think you could interpret it either way in the anime.

If you were to base it solely off of the source material, then no, she did not get raped in episode 4.

How regularly is “regularly”?: great question! LOL. it depends on the flow of fanfics that get uploaded, which i do not have any control over, but i’m looking forward to do this twice a month. after all, it’s only me doing this and i often run on a tight schedule.

Why are you doing this?: from the beginning, my blog has hosted conversations about RPF (real people fiction) and crewfu pairings. this has evolved into people sending me updates about certain fics in the crewfu tags every now and then, but i wanna take the next step and just do these things myself. after all, i’m already lurking in the tags often to see the fics that get posted. as someone who is both a writer and a reader, i wanna appreciate fanfic writers and help out other people that want to read fanfic and consume more fandom content!

Will it be AO3 only?: well, ao3 has a very helpful tag system that makes finding fics incredibly easy, as well as allowing people with no accounts to like and comment on fics, so that’s the site i will personally look in for fanworks. but if there are any fics you’ve written or liked in any other platforms, such as wattpad, you can always contact me through my inbox (send an ask or a dm!), and i’ll make sure to include for the next fanfic spotlight :)

Does it mean you won’t reply to fic asks anymore?: yeah, i guess. since i’ll be doing the searching myself it seems counterproductive. but if i ever skip a fic or again, it’s in another platform, or you’ve posted/read the fic a while ago and you want to get more traction on it, hit me up and i’ll take it into consideration!

Will you read every single one of the fics on your list?: oh no. again, i run on a tight schedule, and also i have my own taste when it comes to fics. i won’t be reviewing fics or any of the sort, and my intention extends to simply sharing these fics to this page so people will have easier access to them :) that’s where ao3 tagging becomes SUPER useful!!!

So what’s the criteria for the way you’ll sort out the fics in your list?: word count, going from lowest to highest. in case of fics in other platforms, i guess i’ll put them at the top of the list. i’ll also be looking for fairly recent fics, so let me know if you want any old-ish fic to be included.

I see you talking mostly about 5up/Steve and Steve/Apollo. Can I still send/see other crewfu fics?: why yes absolutely! my goal is to push every fic which heavily features regular crewfu characters - 5uptic and supdog just happen to be very popular pairings. so, to give you a list: core 4 (5up, hafu, dk, steve), apollo, aipha, annie, janet, kimi, ellum, koji… you know the drill. it doesn’t have to be centered on a relationship, or about 5up in specific, etc. my only requirement is that any of the previously mentioned members are a central part of the fic or are HEAVILY featured in it (sorry, minecraft fics with 50+ tags who only mention 5up as an afterthought won’t make the cut :/).

Isn’t shipping Bad™?: well, it’s a little more nuanced than that. i will go out of my way to discourage and shame people who often violate CCs’ boundaries by acting like so and so has a crush on this person, or that this and that are Actually Into Each Other or secretly dating. any sort of tinhat bullshit is a big nono (think larries). but i run on the assumption that people who write rpf understand that what they’re doing is simply write a completely fictional story using real life personalities, and understand the boundaries necessary to do it - aka they’re not tinhats, they understand they can’t assume everything about CCs’ thoughts and personalities, they understand that what they’re writing is strictly fiction, they keep these works only in fandom circles, etc. (but again, it’s only one me doing this, so please be kind if i don’t happen to know that this person is Actually a tinhat or whatever).

There’s a post pinned to the top of this blog where I ask people to read the FAQ and a few other posts before sending a message. One of those posts requests that folks send one question per message. Please read those posts and keep that in mind for next time.

1) How is Arnav trying to get khushi after the engagement is over like I mentioned he threw a party trying to impress her and then tells her not to come. He is openly says he doesn't believe in love on new year then how.

I believe this is covered in the recaps of the relevant episodes, but briefly:

Arnav threw a party to show Khushi what his life was like. She'd seen his family life and his work but she hadn't been exposed to the social expectations he was under as a fashion mogul. He was trying to introduce her to things like industry parties, parties with alcohol, parties with Jazz and catered food that isn't served buffet style.

He only told Khushi not to attend when she, herself, expressed that she'd be uncomfortable there. But her excitement over jalebi and chaat made it clear that she wasn’t uncomfortable about the party, she just didn’t like his idea of a party. Which in his mind translated to a rejection of him, his likes and dislikes, and his desire to show her a part of himself that he hadn’t been able to so far.

Arnav doesn’t believe in love as Khushi and Anjali describe it -- filmy nonsense that amounts to people unable to use common sense. He tries to articulate what he feels in this scene -- he finds it hard to believe he’d ever trust someone with all of himself in that way. He honestly can’t imagine sharing The Tragedy with anyone, and definitely cannot imagine someone understanding it and still loving him. In a way, Arnav is trying to tell Khushi that what he feels for her is deeper than her interpretation of love. After all, he timed his actions so they saw each other at midnight. He doesn’t understand exactly what he feels but he understands that it’s important, and he mistakenly believes that Khushi wants some fairytale and won’t be able to accept his reality.

2)what was he going to say to nani when they asked his opinion on khushi during puja.

What is this AU about?

Mirror Diamond, at the very basics, is a swap between Lapis and Steven, but with (quite) a few twists! Like steven being in the Mirror since he was 14 (He was born before Canon, and so was Greg since he is his father!) and Lapis was rejuvenated for an unhealthy amount of time- being stuck in a rejuvenator since the war and was only found around the time Canon! Steven was born. Hence her shorter size and her struggles with controlling water other than her wings.

How did Steven get in the mirror?

None of the gems knew about Rose being pink, not even Pearl! So when it was revealed through an accident (Steven reveals during one of his first asks, here, that he ‘was really angry, and glowed bright pink’) that leaves the Crystal Gems into shock basically. Bismuth reacts on instinct at seeing the diamond eyes that she attacks with one of her hammer-arms, causing sufficient enough force to poof him - and kill his human body. Originally, the Mirror was for interrogation purposes, suggested by Pearl who was still in shock. Once they found out they wouldn’t get answers from the mirror, they realized what they had done, but by then they thought it had been too late- thinking that Steven’s gem was now non-sentient, like they believed Canon! Lapis to be when she was in the mirror.

Ryan coughed abruptly and then he grumbled. Something to the effect about you, being stubborn. "To who, exactly?" Ryan teased, pointing out yet again that the cabanas were empty at the moment.

This time, he leaned in towards you just slightly. Raising a hand. Tenderly brushing sweaty and damp strands of hair back out of your eyes as the light breeze blew and blew them right into your eyes. His eyes locked on yours for a few long and silent seconds during which your heart was beating like a runaway train, so loudly that you swore he had to have heard it. He leaned in even more. Licking his lips as his eyes settled on your mouth and lingered.

"You." it slipped out in a breathy whisper as you mirrored the way he'd leaned in towards you, leaning in towards him. Close enough that when you said it, your mouth brushed boldly up against his. When he swore quietly, your breath caught in your throat and you had about a split second to ask yourself what exactly you were hoping to accomplish, because he was reaching out. Pulling you into his lap. And then he was standing. Walking straight towards one of the bigger and more private cabanas near the side of the pool further away from any potential prying eyes.

Your mouth opened, you were about to ask what was going on, but instead, your words were silenced as he pressed a finger against your lips. Most people are interested in participating as artists, with a whopping total of 156 responses (47.7%). 100 responses are interested in buying the zine (30.6%), and 71 indicated interest in participating as writers (21.7%). 

⯈ Price Range

Survey participants chose from four different ranges: $15-$20, $20-$30, $30-$40, and $50+. The results for just purchasing the zine were closely tied at 114 responses for the $15-$20 tier, and 115 for the $20-$30 tier, with only 9 responses for the $30-$40 tier. For zine + merch bundles, there were 49 responses for the $20-$30 tier, 128 responses for the $30-$40 tier, and 34 responses for the $50+ tier. 

⯈ Zine Funds

Zine funds indicate where the profits would go. We were deciding between for profit, non-profit, and split profit. The results were largely in favor of split-profit (48.7%) with solely for-profit in second place (36.1%) and solely non-profit last (15.1%). We have decided to go with split profit. Specific charitable organization(s) will be decided after final contributors weigh in.

⯈ Zine Format

Most want a physical zine (76.9%) while a lot want both physical and digital formats available (14.7%), and some want just a digital copy (8.4%). We plan on having both a physical and digital option, and depending on the amount of applications we receive, we’re also open to the idea of having an expanded digital version so we can increase the number of accepting contributors while remaining economical.

I had messaged Simon questions about Witchcraft and corrected him on his false information. He seems to think witchcraft started at the Salem Witch trials, when it has spanned history from the stone age people's. He basically said before these trials, all "witches" we're midwives and nurses which simply isn't true. There is a wide wide history of these trials before Salem in England and Scotland. Aside from this, witches existed! They were druids, pagans, seers etc. It showed a severe lack of knowledge on the part of the writer. I found that strange, given that they write a character who speaks about history often and is, you know, a cryptid? Don't forget he claims to have lived in England.

I also put some questions to him concerning creatures like him, saying they might not reveal themselves to him because of who he is, and that they likely know better given everything he has written. He called me manipulative? Which didn't make sense.

I guess I was trying to prompt the writer into an interesting discussion. I was very interested in their supposed knowledge on a topic important to me and I meant nothing negative by this. There was more than one person trying to have this discussion, and yet he pinned all the anons on one person, despite his all knowing IP tracker.

I found conversations with him confusing. It seemed as soon as I messaged him, he decided I was somebody he disliked and my opinion meant nothing. I wasn't rude and I just asked that he was respectful of others beliefs if they don't harm anybody. He told me he wouldn't participate in my fantasy and he owed me nothing. I never asked him to believe, just to be respectful. I'm not a Christian or a Muslim, but I respect their beliefs and rights to worship. Not only has he disrespected my beliefs and my religion, but he has disrespected every religion. Somehow his followers didn't see how that is wrong.

Witchcraft and folklore is actually one of my big interests so I hope you don’t mind if I geek out for a moment.

If you go to Simon’s blog or read his FAQ, you’ll notice most of his explanations are very simplified, and not simplified in the “history for beginners” way, but simplified in the “leaving out huge chunks of information” way.

He’s also extremely Eurocentric.

So anything he says about witchcraft is going to be coming through that lens.  He’s not going to be considering things like folk beliefs or traditions from non-European regions or the evolution of witchcraft over time.

He’s not going to consider how magical thinking leads to the evolution of magical practice over time, and therefore what we in the Western world would recognise as witchcraft existing in most times and places.

In most cultures, even the traditions used to get rid of a witch or a witch’s power are witchcraft-esque (and folklorists study this stuff).

Obviously, his statement about Salem is completely wrong.  Salem came very late even for witch trials.  There were trials happening all through Europe before that, and The Church has used allegations of witchcraft as a reason to persecute people whenever it was convenient for them (see also; antisemitism).

The thing about whether witches were midwives and nurses is that at that time, midwives and nurses were considered witches.  There was no difference. That’s why when you read about Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg in the Discworld books, most of what they do is healing and midwifery, because Terry Pratchett based them on real history.

It doesn’t mean witches didn’t do things other that midwifery or nursing. Especially if you read some of the things that were considered healing at those times, there wasn’t a distinction made between the healing part and the magical part.  If you needed to leave the poultice on until the next full moon (ie, one month) then the full moon would be as significant as whatever was in the poultice.

As for prompting questions or having an interesting discussion, I don’t think Simon particularly wants to have an interesting discussion.  I think he enjoys hearing his own opinion too much to listen to someone else’s.

I will not write reylo, nor do i want any of my writing to be associated with reylo. Please don’t tag my fics as reylo if you reblog them, and please please please don’t insert Rey into the reader, it just makes me so incredibly uncomfortable and the ship fully disgusts me. I also will not write “””bendemption”””, any fics about “””Ben Solo”””, or any fics set in the D/LF canon of TROS. 

I will not write heavy angst (such as breakups or divorce between reader and the character, infidelity/cheating where the character is cheating on reader or vice versa, torture or violence against the reader, MCD/reader death, hurt-no-comfort, dub-con, non-con). 4. WHEN IS [INSERT FIC HERE] UPDATING???

Whenever it’s ready to be updated. Please stop asking me this question you guys lol I do this in my free time for fun, I have a lot of factors that affect the timeliness of fic/chapter updates. I am so grateful that people like my writing but I am just one girl who is doing her best. I really appreciate everyone’s patience!

5. Can we send in prompt requests/submissions for Sinday?

YES – please check my description for when I am accepting prompts. Please don’t ask me if I’m accepting prompts if the description says I’m not. I keep it updated, I promise.

While I am always accepting prompt requests or submissions, I reserve the right to deny or delete any prompts I don’t want to write. I will usually always respond to the ask saying that I won’t write it, so you don’t have to wait around for something that never comes, because I do believe in being courteous.

Any prompts that request themes, tropes, kinks, or characters/ships that I have listed above will be deleted and you will be blocked. Please give me the respect of reading through my guidelines, if you wish for me to make content for you.

6. I’m confused about some of the terms you use and events you have on the blog. What’s sinday? Is it different than After Hours or Sleepover? What’s the difference between requests, headcanons, and thots?

Sinday = On the first Sunday of every month I open up prompt submissions. I always make an announcement post when sinday has arrived, and now with the new pin feature i’ll be keeping those announcement posts pinned to the top of the blog when it’s the appropriate day.  If you’re ever unsure, the description at the top of my blod says either “prompts are open!” or “prompts are closed”. When in doubt, just check there and you’ll know if I’m accepting submissions! 

Zannah After Hours = This is usually a part of Sinday, where later in the evening I post the nsfw/smutty content. This means prompts that people have sent in, oneshots that i’ve written of my own accord, and any art i’ve made that I want to share. But Zannah After Hours can happen any day of the week lol, especially during sleepovers. 

Sleepover = A chance for us all to hang out! I reblog a bunch of ask lists and ask games, people send in questions, or they send in asking for advice, or telling us about their day, or anything else they’d like to share. We talk about all sorts of things, it’s a great way for us as a community to just hang out and spend an evening together. I often will like put on a face mask and get snacks or something, or have a movie on in the background to help make it feel like we’re all sleeping over at my house and giggling together! 

Prompt Submissions (also called Imagines) = These are scenarios that you guys send in to me, that you want me to write. It’s usually only a sentence, an idea you guys have, and then I get inspired by that and write out anywhere from like 500-1k words based around the idea. These can be sweet, silly, angsty, or smutty! For example: “what would happen if Flip heard someone catcalling you?”

Headcanon requests = These are topics you guys send in that you’d like for me to go into some detail on in a casual way. It’s not fully fleshed out prose writing, but is instead a series of bullet points listing how I think the characters would respond to a scenario, or how they feel about a topic. For example: In what ways does Pale show he loves you?

Thots/General Shenanigans = These are just opinions that you guys have that you want to share with the world! It’s not expecting writing from me, it’s just you guys shouting out into the void and us all shouting back! For example: Clyde Logan is so thicc and I want to climb him like a tree.

7. Do you have a taglist for when you upload new writing?

Yes! Please see the link in my description, which will take you to a google form. You can select which characters you’d like to be notified for, as well as what type of writing (chapter fics/oneshots/prompt fills). 

8. Can you help me develop ideas for my fic?

While I am very flattered that you would consider me, I’m going to have to respectfully decline. I spend so much time developing ideas for my own professional writing and my hobby fanfic, that my brain tends to be fried and I’m of no help to anyone lol

9. Will you be my beta author?

Again, while I am very flattered, I will have to decline. Editing takes up most of my own free time, and I’m afraid I’m fried by the time I would be able to edit your stories.

10. Do you do RP threads?

Generally speaking, no.

11. Can I send you writing that I’ve done through the inbox/submissions box?

No. While I am flattered that you’d like to share writing with me, I really prefer to be tagged in a post you’ve made yourself, rather than posting your writing for you. You can tag my directly via the @ function, or you can use any of the following in the # section of the post:

Sato Ryuji [RECEPTION] Tokyo Memorial Event report (.....sort of)

man where do I begin It’s my first time attending these type of solo events so bear with me :’D Please also take all this with a pinch of salt because a) it’s been almost a month and as much as I will never forget this day, my memory is still a little fuzzy, and b) major fangirling happenage. If anyone has any other questions besides what was discussed here, feel free to drop an ask and I’ll try my best to answer them :)

The slot I got was at 9:30am on the 12th February in Tokyo. The event for this day was held at the Zendentsu Hall, which holds about 400-500 people. It is also located somewhere near Ochanomizu (heh heh that location...)

So once we were there, we were supposed to get in line to enter the lobby area, where ticket checking will commence. The event this time uses an e-ticket so we’d have to have our mobiles ready with the ticket page for them to check. Once we were done with our tickets, there was another table where random lots were spread out, face down, for us to pick one and that determined our seat.

I got the A row, 3rd seat which was like 2nd row from the stage (the first row was named XA). I WAS ALREADY PANICKING BECAUSE A) I DIDN’T HAVE ANYTHING PLANNED TO SAY AND B) OBVIOUSLY BEING IN FRONT MEANT YOU WERE CLOSER TO THEM AND YOU WOULD BE THE FIRST FEW FOR THE HAND-OVER/HANDSHAKE EVENT SJKSJKDJFK

So I’m gonna go in order of the events that happened:

Talk event

Secret event (although this part, I’m just guessing lol)

Handshake/ hand-over event

Talk Event We start off with Ishikawa-san introducing himself as the emcee, opening the event and welcoming everyone present that day. He then introduces Ryuji and he walks out from the side of the stage (mind you, looking all sleepy and blinking his eyes blearily wwwww). So .....if you’re a Ryuji fan, you know how so very well the boy loves to mumble. So, yes, he mumbles his introduction as he characteristically comments how early it was (xDD) and thanks us for being there with him. So this is the part where we go through the book together and Ryuji (attempts to) share his thoughts on each individual picture or shoot. This was all done via presentation slides, as seen from the above picture. Of course, it being butts early in the morning and Ryuji, being Ryuji, mostly failed to get through this part with ease xD He mostly stated the obvious things at first (like with the library shoot, he was all “ah, books. books.... more books... I already have a book in my hand, yet I seem to be searching for something”) until Ishikawa-san was all like “please further describe the picture ^ ^;;” and while he did in fact get serious for a bit, he eventually admitted he had not much clue of what to say (lmao smh I swear).

When it came to the Goth loli pictures he straight out skipped most every one of them (”tsugi... tsugi... tsugi...” LMAO). Okay well, he did talk about the first photo at least. But the pointer person, basically the person who was controlling the slides (let’s call him “pointer-san” for now), pauses on one of the pictures, reluctant to let Ryuji skip without talking about any one of them and straight up ZOOMS INTO his face, forcing him to talk about the shoot (xD). Yes, Pointer-san was the highlight of this segment, bless Pointer-san They basically zoomed into a couple of pictures so there was no escape for Ryuji not to speak about it. There were times however where after zooming into the pictures, Pointer-san had troubles zooming out so they took some time, to which Ryuji thought they were doing it on purpose and was all “next... next.... yes, nEEXXXTT” (hahahaha!!)

After the talk session, we moved on to the Q&A corner which I’m not going to delve into unfortunately because of my limited japanese :’D Trust me I would very much butcher it instead. I would say, however, that they were all very interesting questions I never would have thought of myself! If anyone has any links of translations from tweets or whatsoever, feel free to let me know and I’ll insert them here :D

Secret Event (???) After the talk, Ishikawa-san then led us to the next part where apparently there was a special present one of us from the audience would be receiving. The present would be something of Ryuji’s possession and he would randomly choose the lucky winner via our seating arrangement.

The special present for our slot was a necklace HAKUEI-san gave Ryuji (which he was wearing that day). Ryuji chose someone (albeit after taking so SO long to decide whilst sitting in yankee position) from the H row, 3rd Seat, and the reason being was he’d went out to eat with HAKUEI-san some days earlier. The lucky girl was ushered up on stage and Ryuji removed his necklace to put it onto her wrist.

Handshake/Hand-over event So once everything was done, it was finally time for the handshake and hand-over event. (Okay so this is where my limited japanese fails me because one of the crew people was talking waaaay too fast ^ ^; but I think) They first asked if anyone was in a rush, and that they would like to go first, to which most of the girls who responded were actually from the further back row. So they were allowed first before the first row of guests had their turn. Basically, there were 2 tables: One of which to place our belongings, and the other one where the actual handshaking and handing over will occur.

So basically, with the event, you get three books with special covers only the people who went for the event would get, plus a special bromide. I think there were basically 6 different special covers? 1. The school boy look 2. the one with the traditional paper umbrella 3. the one in the library 4. the one with the sofa 5. the white prince and then 6. the white-sweater nekomimi one (correct me if I’m wrong).

So basically you go up to him once it’s your turn, shake his hand, say what you need to say and he hands you the books. He basically shakes you with both his hands (*instant death*) in a gentle, almost feather-like touch (not gonna lie, I even froze a little). 

Ryuji’s appearance

He was wearing a white shirt (or possibly a tank top) underneath, with a khaki coloured coat over it. And some reeeaaallly really long pants that seemed to sweep the floor (smh this kid wyd). His typical signature look imo (basically as seen on the first picture above). It was pretty casual compared to the first 2 Tokyo events + Osaka’s. I’m pretty sure he had brown contacts on too. It was the nice sort of brown that wasn’t too light or too dark but it was obvious enough that they were contacts ww I couldn’t see his shoes but for one split second while he was adjusting his pants, I saw heels???? Kind of like these ones from that one show he was in??

Although I’m not entirely sure about this! They were definitely heels of some sort though because they were making so much noise while he was walking around ww His hair was styled similarly to most of his event days, slightly permed. However, for this day, he had his bangs pinned up (kill me, kill me now). So it sort of looked like Shion’s character in Fourze, except instead of a headband, his front hair was pinned up.

So prior to the day I went, I’ve been reading reports for the first 2 events in Tokyo and apparently Ryuji was down with the cold? To which was pretty visible even for this day because he was still coughing quite a bit and even had to pause for a few sips of water at times ):

Some FAQs I’ve gotten from some friends (LOL)

Yes, his hands were indeed soft (people mentioned how warm they were but I think that might just be because he wasn’t feeling well? LOL I DON’T KNOW)

Yes, he was as beautiful up close as he is in pictures

Um... no unfortunately I wasn’t close enough to smell him (but other people apparently said he smelled nice? lol)

Yes, his skin was pika-pika but I wouldn’t say it was flawless :X

Yes, it was a blessing to witness that glorious, wide forehead in person

Yes, it was just like staring straight into the sun

Unfortunately I was too distracted and blinded by the person himself to notice whether he was wearing any earrings orzzz

Yes, he has my soul and he can gladly keep it I don’t know how I am still alive

And finally, no, I do not think he is as tall as people made him out to be sorry wwww (although, yes I am pretty short but I came up to his eyes/nose at least so xD)

(Some more personal notes lol otherwise you can stop reading here) You can really see/tell how patient he is with everyone during the handshake. I’ve seen reports of how he really looks at you and pays attention to what you have to say, and I can 100% vouch this is 100% true ww He was really gentle with the way he holds your hands too. And if you could, I really recommend reading users’ reports of their handshake segment because most of them were cute wwwww (in terms of Ryuji and the audience). It wasn’t anything special for my turn but it definitely was something I would remember and take to my grave xD Funny side story: 2 days before my trip (also the first day of Reception’s Tokyo event), I too had caught a cold and was worried as hell I’d somehow pass on my cold to him if I hadn’t healed on time. Once I read the reports that day I was all “WELP... NEVERMIND” LOL I ended up healing faster than he did though :’D

If you’re ever planning on going for one of these, really, my #1 advice is: know what you want to say and talk fast. I’m not even kidding, they’ll legit usher you away if you’re taking way too long :’DDD (also, it saves you the embarrassment of stuttering like an idiot so)

I finally started getting enough repeats that I felt vindicated adding a FAQ. If you’ve asked me one of these questions in the past, don’t sweat it! All that means is that you helped alert me to a common concern that needs to be addressed. 

Why join the army if it's not the highest paid, the most prestigious, or the most well treated? For many people, it's a family tradition. You'd be incredibly surprised how much loyalty a person can have to any given branch strictly based on their familial relations. For others, it seems to be the most direct service when it comes to helping people, probably courtesy of seeing the National Guard being so prominent. Civilians have no idea how the military works; they think the navy just sails around, the air force just flies around, and the Marines just...idk...do whatever Marines do. Plus people think the army is just the Default Military. It's like the army is the “generic brand,” you know, like someone saying “Q-Tip” when they mean “cotton swab.” Others, quite frankly, couldn't join the other forces. You'd be surprised; I knew many people who originally wanted to join another branch but either weren't smart enough or weren't physically fit enough. I distinctly remember someone in basic saying he originally was going AF, but when he brought his ASVAB scores to their recruiter office they literally told him “the army recruiters are down the hall.” What does this piece of jargon mean/do soldiers actually use this jargon? See this post and if you still have questions be sure to send me a clarified ask. My soldier character received a(n) ______ wound from combat. Would this get him discharged?

To clarify, wounds both combat and non combat can get a soldier discharged, so your soldier doesn't have to be in combat to be wounded severely enough to warrant a medboard.

Eye: if there is permanent vision damage that drops the eyes below the standards associated with Army Regulation 40-501 paragraph 3-16e, which for reference is: (1) Vision that cannot be corrected with ordinary spectacle lenses (contact lenses or other special corrective devices (telescopic lenses, etc.) are unacceptable) to at least:

20/60 in one eye and 20/60 in the other eye, or

20/50 in one eye and 20/80 in the other eye, or

20/40 in one eye and 20/100 in the other eye, or

20/20 in one eye and 20/800 in the other eye; or

(2) An eye has been enucleated. (removed) Ergo it's up to you if your soldiers meets those standards after an eye injury. If your question is, “if he goes blind in one/two eyes” then the answer is “yes.” If your soldier is “legally blind” in one eye but it is correctable with lenses/surgery, the army covers that and actually allows active duty soldiers to get corrective lens surgery even without eye injury, so barring an unreasonably long recovery time I don't see why that wouldn't apply.

Ear: harder question. If your hearing is damaged enough, (”enough” being a subjective term) your soldier might at the very least face a mandatory reclass, which means the army will assign them a new MOS and they will not only have to go back to school for training in that MOS but they won't be able to do their current job any more. If the hearing loss is more severe, they may be medboarded instead. The exact numbers of acceptable hearing are probably not of interest to you but suffice it to say it's up to you whether the soldier's hearing is bad enough to warrant a discharge. I will say that soldiers being slightly hard of hearing isn't unheard of and it's also not unheard of for soldiers to be able to pass the hearing test but still have poor hearing in the field.

Limb: if the limb is amputated or otherwise non functional, it is grounds for a medboard. However, some soldiers have successfully been able to return to active duty with missing parts, although the vast majority of these numbers are those who've lost hands/fingers. Whole arms, toe, foot, and below-the-knee amputees are much less likely to return to active duty, although it's not impossible. IOW unlikely but up to you. Other: unless the wound or a mental illness would otherwise disable the soldier, there would be no medboard.

tl;dr: do you WANT it to be enough to get them discharged??  Also read this post about aftereffects of being medboarded via combat wounds.

I'm writing a fantasy/sci-fi story and I have to make up ranks. How do you suggest I start?/I have a soldier whose duties include X, Y, and Z. What rank would he be? Read these posts about ranks and if your question still isn’t answered then send a more detailed post explaining what you need. I will not help you come up with imaginary ranks. You should consider reading @scriptshrink‘s post on PTSD. It’s a clinical assessment but it contains valuable information I consider nigh essential for writing PTSD characters. Other than that, I don’t have PTSD, (or at least PTSD associated with combat) so I don’t feel entirely right answering this question. I can tell you with some confidence that while their medical needs would be met by the army as far as medication goes and officially mental health is considered a priority, unofficially the military’s stance on mental illness is “you’re fucking weak.” How long are soldiers in combat? Generally? They aren’t often even IN combat, at least not in the current war. It’s absolutely a falsehood that most soldiers will see combat. Having said that, a firefight might last a few seconds to a few days, although with our current enemies I’d lean more towards seconds/minutes. Our biggest concern atm is actually IEDs.  What are the fraternization rules regarding soldiers/is fraternization really that strict? Short answer yes, the army does tend to take fraternization that seriously, but as with most rules it’s often dependent on the chain of command when it comes to just HOW seriously they take it. There might be demotions, article 15s, verbal and written counselling, changes of station, and there might be, you know...nothing. Personally I think the rules were a lot more strict when I was at home than when I was deployed. During deployment I think people can get away with pretty much anything because in a lot of cases it’d be significantly more detrimental to the unit if they punish the soldier than if they just let it go on until it becomes a problem.  Are women really called “females” in military environments? Yes, as are men called “males.” Calling female service members ladies, women, or girls is considered rude/derogatory. The only exception is female officers, who are called “ladies” as male officers are called “gentlemen.” It’s also now unacceptable in the military to disparage troops by using “girls/ladies/women” as insults. How much money does _____ make? The answer depends not only on the soldier’s rank but also their marital status, deployment status, and their Time in Service (TiS). You can read a good article about it here, but you can always just google “this year’s military pay chart” and something basic will come up. Be sure to take into account whether they have kids or take care of a parent! Where do soldiers get medical care? We normally get seen at the TMC, or Troop Medical Clinic. It can be as small as a trailer or as big as a multi-story hospital. If more intense care is needed, we might be sent to an actual hospital. But soldiers can also just get medical care at any location that offers medical care, whether civilian hospitals or clinics. They won’t be expected to foot the bill as long as they present proof that they’re active duty. Your leadership should be informed if you use civilian health care and if you acquire any medicine from them, and this is considered a sort of “no other option” choice so it shouldn’t be done willy-nilly. Does not (typically) apply to dental or mental health.

What are the most common injuries soldiers face? In combat we most frequently see extremity injuries, (52% of all injuries) and usually from explosives (75%). TBIs are also a common problem. When a soldier is hurt in combat we usually use the word “wounded” over the word “injured.” For the general army, I’d probably say sprained/twisted ankles. In most of the TMCs I went to, you don’t even get examined if you just walk in and say “I twisted my ankle.” They’d just throw you some ACE bandages, some ibuprofen, and the recommendation to ice it. It’s just such a mundane and boring injury, but it’s woefully common not only because of our level of physical exertion, but because the army won’t let you keep off your feet and you’ll be forced to keep working on that bad ankle so that you’ll continue to have problems with it forever.

What kinds of medical conditions disqualify you from service? I’ve gone into more depth/information about it here, but basically any chronic illness will be scrutinized by the military before you join. Mental illness included. If you’ve had bronchitis before, or an invasive surgery, (especially one involving pins or other foreign entities) that might be a DQ. Most allergies are a DQ, although it’s possible to get a waiver for less severe ones. IBS, diabetes, anemia and other similar chronic illnesses are an auto DQ. Even acid reflux is taken into account.  If you develop a chronic illness while enlisted, depending on the severity and how manageable it is, you might be permitted to stay in or you might be medboarded. There are active duty service members with diabetes for example, but if it becomes too much for the army/you to handle, separation might be initiated. So as is so often the case, if you want your soldier to develop a chronic illness, you’ll have to decide just how manageable the illness is. The army will allot time for medical care and give any necessary medication to the soldier.

What is the proper way to capitalize ranks and branches of service?

If you’re listing the rank itself, it’s not capitalized. If you’re using the rank as a title, it is capitalized. ”As the colonel trailed off, the sergeant left without saying a word.” ”As Colonel Vaughn trailed off, Sergeant Torres left without saying a word.” Similarly, if you’re directly saying “the U.S. Army,” it’s capitalized, but if you just say “the army,” it’s not. This is as far as grammar is concerned. As far as the inner workings of the actual military are concerned, these words are often capitalized regardless of their actual practical application. So while I recommend you write the story with the above rules, anything written by a service member will probably vary.

Fair, no excuses. But for for context, I was a poor gay loner welfare kid from an abusive home and was targeted by military recruiters who hung around my high school from freshman year until after I graduated. I was convinced that I had no other options and that I would never make it otherwise. I did four years and got out as soon as I could.

Hello! Hindi’s not my first language, so I try to understand the show as best as I can without subtitles and that’s why I appreciate your recaps so much! I am sure you’ve answered this somewhere before, but I tried looking and couldn’t find it. In the flashback of Arnav’s mom running to commit suicide, it’s at Anjali’s wedding where Arnav looks like he’s in his teens. However, Anjali and Shyam only celebrate their 3rd wedding anniversary. How does this timeline add up? Thank you!

Also, why does Arnav instantly suspect Khushi instead of Shyam during the terrace reveal scene at Akash and Payal’s wedding? Especially given that he loves Khushi, knows her character, and she’s mentioned how she was engaged and it broke off? Separate question, how does Arnav’s dad die? Thank you!!

1. How does this timeline add up? Anjali wasn't marrying Shaym in the flashbacks. It was some unnamed groom who left her at the altar when her parents died. There were around ten years between that wedding and her marriage to Shyam. In the beginning of the serial, Anjali makes multiple references to The Circumstances surrounding her marriage, implying that her devotion to Shyam stems from how grateful she feels that he married her at all.

2. why does Arnav instantly suspect Khushi instead of Shyam during the terrace reveal scene at Akash and Payal’s wedding? He doesn't. Arnav literally sees them in an embrace, and hears Shyam confess his love and Khushi demand that he leave Anjali. There’s no ambiguity. The truth -- that Shyam tricked Khushi into an engagement and she didn't realise he was Anjali's husband until it was too late and when she found out, she and her family told no one despite Payal marrying into the same household -- is so absurd that the audience only believes it because they saw it happen. Arnav didn't know Khushi's character, he'd known her for about six months. To put this into perspective, he’d known Shyam for over three years -- looked up to him as a father-figure -- and Shyam still managed to betray Di. Additionally, Khushi came into Arnav’s life through a series of suspicious coincidences and it took a lot for Arnav to begin trusting that she didn’t have an ulterior motive. The terrace stuff tore all that down. Arnav did love Khushi, but it was a feeling based largely on lust and not unshakable trust. Their nascent relationship was tested way too soon and almost broke as a result. There's a lot of discourse on my blog about this, some of this is here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. 3. Separate question, how does Arnav’s dad die? He killed himself shortly after his wife committed suicide. Arnav mentions it in Episode 317 in an argument with Dadi. He tells Khushi about it in Episode 333, where they show the full flashback sequence.
