Michael Jackson Documentary

Last night I watched a documentary on Michael Jacksons and the circumstances surrounding his death. According to this documentary he was being administered the drug Propopol which I may be spelling incorrectly. It was said that this is a powerful drug used to anesthetise people and that he supposedly needed this to sleep. Why would someone feel the need to be anesthetized in order to fall asleep on a regular basis? Then I wondered if someone may have been bombarding him with unwanted noise or a barrage of constant dialogue or static noise which I have experienced before. I think the purpose of it or one of them is to bombard a person, keep them stressed out, maybe keeping them up at night which then would result in waking up later and getting less done during the day. In addition, at such times the subject or target may appear to be very quiet or distracted and may even at times look lost when in fact they may be trying to concentrate to be able to hear something at a low volume that is somehow broadcast or directed at them. Ironically this is happening to me as I write this and the purpose of it is to distract me from writing this. In my experience the group doing this wants to run down their subject financially by wasting their time and have made several racist and anti-Gay remarks on a regular basis when engaging in, among other things, economic terrorism in the process. I have no idea and think it is probably a long stretch however if someone is distracted enough or if the abusers are successful in interfering in subjects ability to work and earn money there may be an expectation that a wealthy person would sell off some assets to raise cash. Since this group of losers have engaged in real estate mobbing it would not surprise me at all. Maybe they have an expectation that such assets could be bought at less than fair market value. Who knows however I thought that it was an interesting question.

OK…

I listened to a lot of music this year, and I am not going to prattle on about it all this time because there's too much. These are the albums that came out this year that I really liked. They aren't in a specific order, but they are in a general order (closer to the top just means I listened to it more often, or responded enthusiastically/felt really strongly about it). I have been doing a lot of radio this year, and so I've listened to so much music. It's not trying to be a definitive top 100 list, I am sure I missed some gems, but these are things I personally liked. Then there are some special mentions at the end that include some reissues that include some reworked/additional material, and some compilations/live albums as well. Genres are all over the place, from heavy to light to weird to weirder. Check things out and enjoy the adventure.

400 to go 🥳🥳

Pandora and the Flying Dutchman (1951, dir. Albert Lewin): One of the most gorgeous technicolor films I've seen yet. The central romance is captivating, if marred by an undercurrent of misogyny, and Ava Gardner gives a leading lady performance for the ages. This is also one of the more artistic melodramas of the era, an underrated gem for sure.

Nine Queens (2000, dir. Fabián Bielinsky): I'm not a big fan of heist movies but this was pretty fun. The plot had a lot of twists and turns without ever losing me, it felt very expertly crafted.

Lone Star (1996, dir. John Sayles): This felt a bit like Giant updated for the 90s, with the blend of melodrama and racial politics, and I very much enjoyed it. I was especially impressed by how the flashbacks were filmed.

Wadjda (2012, dir. Haifaa al-Mansour): The story is fairly conventional and the tone of the film is mostly light but what really got to me was how it depicted a horrifying everyday reality for women living in Saudi Arabia without ever explicitly calling attention to it - because that's just what it's like!

Alice (1988, dir. Jan Švankmajer): Stop-motion animation already kind of freaks me out so this movie was a nightmare for me. A very creative, well crafted nightmare.

Rain Man (1988, dir. Barry Levinson): On the one hand, there are some cool shots, the music is really good and Tom Cruise's performance is excellent. On the other, Dustin Hoffman's portrayal of Raymond felt too close to caricature and it really dragged the whole movie down.

Come Drink with Me (1966, dir. King Hu): A lot of fun, if weirdly structured. The special effects were both pretty bad and an absolute delight.

Blue Velvet (1986, dir. David Lynch): I'm not sure I get Lynch but I think I appreciated this movie a lot more due to having recently seen Inland Empire and kind of hating it. This is a more restrained Lynch, a friendlier one, which is a weird thing to say about a movie that starts with a severed ear being discovered in a field and only gets more fucked up from there, but it's true.

A BIG PART OF THIS CAMPAIGN DIRECTED AT ME HAS REPEATEDLY INCLUDED RACIAL SLURS AND GAY BASHING ON A CONSTANT BASIS IN ADDITION TO THE USE OF VOICE CLONE APPS, AND THEY USE THE TERM BODY DOUBLE OFTEN. I BELIEVE SEVERAL PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE TERRORISM DIRECTED AT ME COULD GET THE DEATH PENALTY IN COURT AS RICO ACT AND RACKETEERING APPLY. I ACTUALLY THINK A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE INCLUDING ELLA AND DENNIS FELCHER AS WELL AS HER KIDS SHOULD BE EXECUTED AND I AM NOT KIDDING.
