“How about the one where two leprechauns won an all expense paid trip to Italy where they were later abducted by Space Turtles to fight in an intergalactic war over some girl’s g-string?
If you believe that…what’s wrong with you?”
—-Johnathan Frakes (Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction)

Last night my "In progress" list on Tubi combined in my subconscious to create a dream about an episode of Beyond Belief in which Jonathan Frakes was wearing the motorcycle outfit from the third season premiere of Hannibal
If you can make your brain do that, I highly recommend it

Okay so I almost never, ever, ever have personal posts but I’m hoping to find my audience here on Tumblr ‘cause my gosh do I gotta vent over something SUPER niche but also SUPER FRUSTRATING.
Y’all know that show Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction?
Y’all know how it’s supposed to show you a series of short stories, some of which are based on true stories and some of which are completely made up, and you have to guess which were which and then you get to see if your answers are right at the end of the show?
Well in rewatching an episode, IT LIED TO ME. IT LIED TO US. IT LIED.
Since watching the show as a kid, I’ve consumed a fair amount horror and sci-fi anthologies, especially The Twilight Zone and Night Gallery. Because of that, I (usually) IMMEDIATELY KNOW when a piece of fiction is inspired by an episode of those shows, or the stories that inspired those episodes.
So I’m watching an episode of Beyond Belief where one of the short stories was nearly a CARBON COPY of a Night Gallery episode from 1970, which was based off a short story written by André Maurois in 1931, BOTH OF WHICH ARE FICTIONAL.
So I’m immediately like, “Psh, that’s false,”
BUT NO.
THEY SAID THE STORY WAS TRUE.
TRUE? TRUE?!?!?!?!
What made it true?! Was the fact that it was based off a story that was truly written, despite the story itself being fictional, enough? If so, what other stories that were supposedly true were actually false? Was the story from 1931 actually true and I just never knew it???? And what about the segments that are clearly based off The Twlight Zone being called false? Do I now need to rewatch this entire series and fact check these people who have long since stopped working on its production?????????
Anyway, this very small thing has made me upset and I felt the need to share it. Thanks for reading!

William Corzine from Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, season 2, episode 1, was an avatar of The End, no I am not taking criticism at this time.

It's actually impossible to take the magnus archives seriously if you consider for second that every statement is almost identical to a beyond belief: fact or fiction episode. nothing is scary when you can imagine Jonathan frakes coming in at the end to ask you a question
