Sitting in my room? Looking over my schedule?” “This can’t be right. I asked for a single this year.” Scoffing, the other young man shook his head. “Dude, do you not check your email during the summer? I’ve known I’ve had a roommate for over a month.”

;-- modern verse: noctis' childhood friend, LUNAFREYA NOX FLEURET
Tumblr media
luna is noctis' long-known friend since he was the age of four, and she was eight respectfully ( her and gladio had known noctis the longest: curtesy of @.excultum in regards to gladio ). she also came from a wealthy family like noctis, and their families have been in cahoots with one another for generations due to their business coexisting with one another. luna was the youngest out of two, ravus being her older brother, and she was introduced to noctis bc he was usually alone with only the nannies and his dad to play with ( gladio added in according to how @.excultum wants to put him in / still a wip ). being the oldest between the two, luna felt like she was meant to play the role of noctis' caretaker: happily holding hands as they walked down the street to the store, bandaging his boo-boos when he got hurt, helping him out with his schoolwork, and overall playing with him.
they both were happy spending time with one another.
unlike noctis who was homeschooled most of his life, luna attended private schools where she excelled academically as an honors student. during her middle school years, she fell in love with writing and enjoyed writing poems and short stories based on fiction. it was then she would show and tell her hobby to noctis though his mind wasn't as advanced as hers to comprehend a lot of her writings just yet. but noctis did enjoy hearing her speak, and that was more than enough for luna to keep showing her friend her writings.
entering high school, it was then luna took her writings seriously and entered her writings to several contests and scholarship opportunities. she had her entire intuition paid off when she wrote her first collection of poems and got recognized by her dream university ( even tho she didn't have to worry so much about money considering her wealth, but she didn't like things to be handed to her ). these series of poems also were published with the help of publishers interested in putting her work out there, and it was then she knew what she wanted to do: become an author.
it was also during high school that luna helped awaken noctis' musical talent. bc of her poems, noctis found it neat to try and turn the poems into songs, roughly making a beat using his hands, feet, and his voice to sing them as how he imagined they would sound if they have been actual songs. the way he was able to make up something at the top of his head with what little he had astonished luna, and she encouraged him to keep working on his talent. noctis wasn't too sure about it and thought it was merely just a little fun, but luna insisted he kept it up and had offered up her poems for inspiration on his part.
and bc luna knew everything ( according to noctis ), of course he was going to trust her and continued on this new path he had accidentally paved himself.
after luna graduated high school and moved a couple cities over to go to her dream university, there wasn't much contact between her and noctis due to her amount of college work, but also working on publishing a new book : this time it was a fiction novel than a collection of poems. she would be able to exchange a few messages here and there between her and noctis while he struggles his way through high school, and she struggled through college. they had each other's back as the two would confide in each other with personal things they would only feel comfortable with each other talking about ( relationships, school stress, assholes, etc. )
**key note: i decided not to ship noctis x lunafreya romantically in modern verse bc they were more like siblings than anything so no dating between them.
when noctis mentioned he had started a small band with his friends gladio and ignis and wanted to start working on small gigs here and there once they band was in tip-tip shape, luna strongly supported his decision and suggested she help them spread the word by posting announcements on her blogs and around campus whenever he'd give her the word. ( spoiler alert: she became their main source of getting around to large audiences ).
noctis would also send her recording samples of what the band played and, despite her not being a huge fan of the music they played, luna was still supportive and on board with everything bc it made noctis happy, and that was all she wanted for him. noctis would occasionally ask her to write him a few poems they could potentially turn into songs and give her credit if she would like for them to perform them publicly to which she would when she had the time and didn't mind if they performed them all the same. this would undoubtedly make her so happy and jokingly say she could be their lyricist if they paid her ( spoiler alert: a couple of the band's songs were co-written with her help ).
things were going decently well. luna was near finishing up her college work and moving along the line of getting her book published until tragedy struck that halted her progress.
a call from her mum telling her that noctis was in the hospital due to an overdose.
it was completely out of left field since noctis never told her about taking drugs of any kind, and it sort of stung pretty bad that a secret like that had been kept from her. there was also the thought of his friends like gladio and ignis who she knew about being awful influences on him or not doing a good job watching over him. so many emotions crossed her mind as she drove herself back home to go see him and prayed with all of her might that noctis would survive.
fortunately, noctis was okay but would have to go through a lot of rehabilitation to get him back on track. that was also when luna first met prompto, the boy that saved noctis' life. she was indebted to him despite him saying "i was just at the wrong place at the right time" and from then on out, she entrusted prompto with noctis' well being and asked him to check up with her if things went array: luna has had her skeptical opinions over gladio and ignis since the incident.
she also had a lengthy talk with noctis about the whole situation which soured their relationship a tiny bit until they both rekindled their broken bond in the longer run.
but flash forward, and she is still supportive of noctis and his band, continuing her support from afar as she finished up college and got around to publishing her book which she had to scrap it all and start from the beginning due to the influence she received from noctis' incident. it garnered massive success, making her a best selling author, and she continues to tour and work on writings on her own while keeping contact with noctis and the boys and helping them with whatever she can.

Date Night -Ravus Nox Fleuret-
masterlist | request
Prompt: Hi! can I request some happy Ravus moments? maybe a date in Altissia, it seems like a romantic spots and because BOATS.
Pairings: Ravus Nox Fleuret x Reader
Summary:
Word Count: 708
Tumblr media
It was rare for you and Ravus to have a date night. Most nights he spend in Gralea doing something important with the empire, someday you didn’t see him at all and only got a good morning/night text.
So when Ravus promised you an entire weekend in Altissia, you were a little suspicious. You remained in that frame of mind through packing your bags, driving to Galdin Quay, even on the boat you expected his phone to ring and call him into work. It wasn’t until the bright sea-surrounded city came into your view that you knew this weekend would be yours.
The first day the two of you spend at home. Enjoying the alone time together and doing whatever you please. The second was out exploring. Trying a new restaurant or two, window shopping at new shops, and hitting your favorite locations.
You didn’t have much planned for the final day. The two of you had decided the night before to do whatever you felt like. Whether it was going out, staying in or a mix of both. However it wasn’t long after you eaten breakfast that Ravus informed you that he would be out a majority of the day, so you decided to do the same.
All day you spend walking around Altissia, taking the Gondola to new places, finally checking out the Totomostro arena you always wanted to see, shopping at new shops, tasting different treats and just sitting by the ocean, breathing in the fresh sea smell.
Once the sky shifted from a blue to an orange, you started to go back home. As expected, you were the only one home. Just to be sure you called out Ravus’ name a couple times, but stopped when a piece of paper on the counter caught your eye.
Dear, Y/n. I apologize out last day together in Altissia was taken, But our final night still stands. Please put on the outfit I placed on the bed. I’ll be picking you up at 7. -Ravus
Running to your room, you see your favorite outfit all laid out on the bed. As excitement fills you, you quickly run to the shower and get ready faster than you ever have.
You were touching up when a soft knock on the bedroom door caught your attention. You look at the reflection of the door and see the familiar silverette standing in the doorway. Turning around to face him, you look him up and down.
A smile quickly forced itself on your face as you realized what he’s wearing. It was the same suit he wore for your 1st anniversary. One that fit him perfectly and complemented his silver hair amazingly.
You stare at him in awe for a moment before composing yourself. “You look nice.” “As do you, Are you almost ready.” You nodded in response before walking towards him. He held out his hand for you to take before guiding you out the door and onto the busy streets.
“Can I ask where we’re going?” You glancing around but see nothing familiar. “Everywhere.” You look up at him in confused but quickly go along with it.
The first stop was dinner. He took you a restaurant the pair of you were very familiar with. You made it a tradition to go here whenever you were in Altissia, Next was your favorite pastry shop. After finishing your confection, Ravus led you down to the gondolas. Your heart tighten at the small, yet meaningful action. You always thought there was something romantic about the gondolas. The fact that you get to sit back and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
Resting your head back, you close your eyes rest your eyes until you hear the sudden sound of water. You open your eyes to see a small, secluded spot overlooking a waterfall came into view.
Completely entranced, you didn’t notice Ravus take your hand and gently guide you off the gondola and to a solo bench. Everything felt as if it stood still. You only heard the sounds of the sea water hitting the rocks. No vendors tell you about their latest sale, or cell phones ringing. No people talking in the background or shoes hitting the ground.
Just the two of you.

Ravus x reader who where friends before the fall of tenebrae and got separated during the chaos, the y find eachother again in Altissia before its attacked
now ravus is def one of the og babygirls if you don't think so argue with the wall.
nav.
You think to yourself, well how did you get into this situation?
For all intents and purposes, you were a plain Altissian diplomat preparing for the arrival of the Prince of Lucis and his entourage. Now you were in a hotel across the city surrounded by soldiers of Niflheim, and sitting from you, is a pair of familiar siblings. You were aware of their presence too, as they had 'accompanied' the Oracle. (Everyone else knew that she was essentially a hostage.) But Secretary Claustra, your boss, had instructed you to go about as normal, something far more easily said than done.
You clear your throat, and a cup of now lukewarm tea in your hands is still full. You did not have it in yourself to take even a sip, much less snack on any of the delicious-looking tea cakes being offered to you.
"It truly has been some time, but I am delighted to see you doing well," is what Lunafreya breaks the silence with. Quite frankly you're just glad that she is here. At least you could still get the feeling that she was the same kindhearted girl you had met years prior. Ravus on the other hand? You could only hide your grimace so well. But you couldn't blame him for that.
"Same here, Lady Lunafreya, I have fond memories of our childhood, and while it is a bit late, you have my congratulations on your upcoming nuptials as well," Your smile is tight. Polite and practiced, but you could only hope she knows that truly, you were glad she was happy.
"Please call me Luna."
"Luna it is."
The short conversation continues without any problems. An attendant, who seems just as nervous as you were, is announced at the doorway. With so many gazes on her, she stutters that it was another fitting for the Oracle's wedding gown.
Lunafreya smiles gently, more for the young woman's sake than anything, as the poor thing shook like a leaf. Before quietly excusing herself, she takes your hands in her own, giving them a gentle squeeze. Ravus only nods in response to her goodbyes for the afternoon. You hear her footsteps, alongside the attendant and the guards assigned to her, retreating down the hall.
Which left you awkwardly sipping at the same cup of tea you had received when you sat down.
"I am... I am glad that you are doing well too," You almost miss it. Placing your teacup down onto the small saucer, you see now that it was Ravus being far more hesitant now that Lunafreya was gone.
A part of you thinks, that maybe he had not changed as much as you thought he did. As you grew up in Tenebrae, you had considered Ravus just as much of a friend as you did for Lunafreya, best friends even. But then, it all went terribly wrong, as all things in this world seemed wont to do, and now you had made it here.
"You don't need to be a stranger Ravus," Your tone is much lighter, "If I remember, you were the chatty one, even talking us out of trouble for a lot of your pranks."
Across from you, you might have thought he blushed. Poorly hidden behind your hand, you snort.
"I suppose not," He agrees. For a time, it was just you both reminiscing about your shared childhood. But like all good things, this meeting too comes to an end. You hesitate in saying goodbye because it sounds final. Like with Lunafreya, you take Ravus' hands into your own, much to Ravus' surprise when you even take hold of his metal one too.
Promises to meet again, such as when the wedding preparations and the summoning of the Leviathan were over, were made. You collect your things and make your way out.
Naively you hope that things can stay like this for a while. Yet when you stare outside into the waters surrounding Altissia, all you feel is unease.

wip fashion au - part 5
Your banter with Cindy continued until both of you sat down in the lecture hall. Professor Besithia showed up not long after, clearing his throat and glaring at the entire classroom until the chatter eventually died down.
“Good morning, everyone,” Besithia eventually began. “If any of you have read the syllabus before, you must have realized that we won’t have our regular lecture today. I have invited a guest to give a lecture in my place. He’s a guest researcher who’s visiting our university from Tenebrae until the end of the year. Any materials of his lecture may come up on your exam, so I expect you to pay as much attention to it as my own regular lecture.”
A wave of low groan sweeped the lecture hall while Professor Besithia turned his attention to someone sitting on the front row. “Mr. Fleuret? Whenever you’re ready, the floor is yours.”
“Thank you, Professor Besithia.”
The guest lecturer turned out to be a tall, silver-haired man wearing a grey suit. He stood up from his seat and walked towards the lecture podium in a few long strides, soon replacing Besithia in glaring down the rest of the lecture hall.
The man cleared his throat, then tapped at a couple buttons on his laptop to activate the hall’s presentation mode. Within seconds, the lights in the room dimmed and the front wall projected a slide with the man’s information, including a close-up photo that made you realize that the man had a mismatched pair of eyes - one blue and the other purple.
“Good morning, everyone. My name is Ravus Nox Fleuret, and I’m a PhD candidate in Trauma Surgery at Fenestala Research Hospital in Paglia, Tenebrae,” he began. “Before we begin, I’d like to first extend my thanks to Professor Besithia, who’s been kind enough to invite me to…”
You could hardly hear what the guest lecturer said next. All that you could focus on was the projection of his full name on the wall before you.
Nox Fleuret. Just like the last name of Luna.
And didn’t he say that he was from Tenebrae?
Could it be that they were related?
“... Huh. Interesting,” Cindy suddenly remarked, completely derailing the train of thoughts that was beginning to form inside your brain. “The guy’s wearing a really advanced prosthetic arm.”
“Huh? What?”
You trained your eyes from the graphs and bullet points on the slideshow towards Ravus, but didn’t notice anything out of ordinary at first. There was nothing bulky or telling of hiding a prosthetic about his clothing - if anything, the suit looked quite well-fitted to his measurements. However, on a second glance, you noticed that his left hand was very dark compared to his right one, and belatedly realized that he was wearing a glove.
“... So as you may imagine, a trauma surgeon is not only expected to be well-trained in scientific research. Certain clinical and physical skills are also required, in particular when handling patients with brain damage.”
Ravus paused to step away from the podium. He then pulled off the black leather glove, revealing a prosthetic hand underneath. While a sharp gasp echoed through the room, Ravus calmly rolled up the sleeve of his suit jacket and shirt, revealing more of the steel prosthetic that reached at least past his elbow.
“After my accident, I was… lucky to get my hands on this prosthetic, literally and figuratively speaking,” he spoke afterwards in a lower tone, almost like a mutter. “But there are many others who aren’t as fortunate as I was. And for some, the lack of access to the right - and suitable - technology could mean the loss of a career built upon decades of study and experience. Or it can simply mean a loss of freedom, both physically and financially. In short, a death to one’s own independence.”
Ravus then raised his prosthetic hand to his eye level and demonstrated its fingers opening and closing, demonstrating how precise and dextrous they could be. “So my question and challenge to you, future engineers, is this: what can you do to make this world a better place for people like me? How can you not only develop a technology that can help with a problem, but also make it accessible to anyone who is truly in need of such technology?”
At this point, Ravus barely needed to do anything to get the attention of the students. All eyes in the lecture hall were on him. The tense silence lasted for the entire time Ravus unrolled the sleeve of his shirt to cover most of his prosthetic, then he turned his somber glance back to the audience. “That is all. Thank you for listening.”

Hey. Hey Joi. My beloved. What elements do you think the FFXV lads and queens would bend? I want Aranea to firebend so she can light me on fire in a godfearing way
Air:
Noctis, but he keeps forgetting he’s a bender.
Ravus, but he’s shit at it
Water:
Ignis, which is ironic given his name.
Luna, and it isn’t just because her name means moon.
Earth:
Cindy. I don’t know, I just really feel like she would be an earth bender.
Gladio. You’d think with his temper he’s be a fire bender, but nah
Nyx, but he’s the same type of earth bender as our king Momo. Unrivaled, raw skill
Fire:
Aranea, but I couldn’t see her like. Being with the Fire Nation. I still see her just being on her own.
Prompto, but it surprises everyone for some reason. He’s really good at it, too!

Galahdian Dreams - 16 (Nyx Ulric/Reader)
Synopsis: Your father was the king of Insomnia. He was good and just. You never thought you’d meet anyone like him after he was taken from the world. Your Uncle Regis, has taken the throne and followed through on your father’s plans. It was good to see the city in capable hands.
Enter Nyx Ulric, refugee, Glaive, fighter…how is it he can see all your secrets? He knows how to set you off and he’s promised to not let you go…(AU for sure, Regis wasn’t supposed to take the throne, and our lovely Nyx has more of a past then we thought…)
Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Five Part Six Part Seven Part Eight Part Nine Part Ten Part Eleven  Part Twelve  Part Thirteen  Part Fourteen  Part Fifteen
Tumblr media
Nyx looked at his reflection in the Citadel window. It had been a long time since he’d worn anything traditional. It felt odd, and yet comforting. When he spoke to Doris about seeing if someone had something for him to borrow, she smiled at him and made a call.
He was always amazed at his people. Every single one of them respected his decision to remain hidden away from Insomnia’s political stage. Yet, at the drop of the hat…they pulled out the works to make him presentable. Doris may have only been the cook for the royal family, but she knew the tailors, the farmers, and everything else.
So, when Lila’s mother Analise came forward with a beautifully embroidered achkan jacket it wasn’t entirely a surprise. However, the detailing in it nearly brought him to tears. He could tell they had been working on this for a long time.
“I will wear this proudly.” He told her tracing over the breast area where his family crest was.
“It was our honor to make it for you.” Analise bowed her head, little Lila quickly following suit to match her elders around her, “We hope it brings you wisdom…it was your mother’s intention to have this be your coronation garb.”
“You…you kept it this entire time?” Nyx looked at as she nodded before looking at all of them, “All of you…you didn’t need to do this…there are more important things…”
“Of course, we did.” Doris stepped over to him touching his arm gently with a smile as she looked at everyone else, “For hearth and home child…when home is no longer a building over your head…it’s in those around you. It’s in the traditions you carry forward. I know Selena at least taught you that…”
His mother did, and he was happy to be reminded of it. The last few months he’d forgotten it…the last few weeks he’d been reminded of how much he needed to hold onto it. So, in his time away from guarding a former princess he’d been working on a strategy to change everything.
You had helped him with so much and his people were better for it. Still it wasn’t enough to change everything. It was time for him to come forward…and so he waited to be summoned. Drautos had set up an appointment with King Regis under the guise of needing to speak about some change in leadership in the Refugee Ward. Not entirely a lie…
His head lifted when heard footsteps approaching him in the hall. His eyes widened slightly before he bowed, “Your grace…”
“Please…” The soft frail voice of Lady…no…Queen Lunafreya spoke over him, “be at ease. It isn’t necessary…I’m a person of the people…”
“Of course.” He straightened up looking at her. Still wearing her mourning band, he frowned a little, “Let me express how sorry I am for your loss…losing your parents…it’s not easy.”
She looked up at him a little surprised, “Thank you…you’re one of the few people I believe when they say that.”
“I know the feeling personally.” He smiled sadly taking in a deep breath, “It’s a gap that takes a long time to fill again.”
“But it does…fill again?” She asked him quietly.
He looked out the window and gave a small smile when he saw you entering the green house below. Your image was distorted by the windows, but he could tell you were filling up your watering cans about to make your rounds, “Yes…yes it does.”
“Forgive me. I’ve become rude in my grief…” Luna smiled at him a little as she looked out the window before looking back to him, “I recognize you. You were Y/N’s guard the last time I was here…but I don’t know your name.”
“Nyx Ulric, your majesty.” He bowed slightly again before looking at her, “And I am still her personal guard.”
“Looking from afar today?” She smirked as he blushed, “Or something else?”
“Something else. I’ve just returned from the front a few weeks ago…I have an appointment with the king.” Nyx told her quietly.
“I see.” She nodded slowly, “I’m glad to hear he’s still receiving people.”
Nyx could hear an underlying tone of distress, “Ma’am, is everything alright?”
The sharp intake of breath was clearly visible as she attempted to relax her shoulders, “It’s hard to sit by when your country is on fire. As Oracle…I’m supposed to represent peace and help anyone…no matter what…but as Queen of Tenebrae…I desire see results and my home restored to order and it just feels like I am the only one worried about it…”
“Not taking your calls?” He smirked a little trying to lighten the mood a little. It worked, she laughed a little, “Listen…I am the last person who should be saying anything…but in King Regis’ defense, this last year he’s become king, taken over a world he was only supposed to have a hand in. He’s doing the best he can with what he was trained for, which is to council people, not lead. Just give him a little time.”
“But he can see a solider immediately?” She snapped back before grimacing, “I’m sorry, that’s not fair…”
“It’s alright. You’re angry, you should be. I appreciate that you at least recognize that it’s not my fault.” He smiled a little before he saw Drautos behind her beckoning for him to follow him, “You’ll have to excuse me…”
“Of course, good luck.” Luna hugged herself as he stepped around her.
Nyx paused before holding up a finger to Drautos and turning around to the retreating queen, “Your majesty…”
She turned to him as he bowed again before standing straight and proud, “Yes?”
“I just want you to know…when I am able…I will give you whatever aide I can.” Nyx watched her eyes widen with confusion before they began to brim with tears, “I promise.”
He bowed once more leaving her in the hall approaching Drautos who was giving him a quizzical look, “What was that about?”
“Hopefully forming a bridge for the future.” Nyx told him as they turned the corner walking straight for the king’s office.
“So, you’re serious about this…” Drautos stopped in hall as Nyx passed him, “You’re going to expose yourself to Regis?”
Nyx stopped and looked at him before nodding, “I am. It’s time. We need a real voice. Y/N has done so much, but it’s time to stop sitting by and only scraping by. If we’re going to fight the wars for Lucis…then we need feel safe here. We need the same rights.”
Drautos cleared his throat before wiping a hand over his face, “As you command sir…”
“Aww…buddy…” Nyx smirked stepping toward him, “Never thought I’d grow up, did you?”
“Don’t ruin this…” He growled at him as he began walking again. He slowed just before the door as he spoke slowly, “I never doubted you, Nyx. You have so much of your father in you, there was no way you’d not become the man we all know you are. I’m just happy to see you embracing it.”
Nyx stared at him for a moment before looking away licking his lips, “I miss him…and mom…and Lena…”
Drautos frowned reaching over to touch his arm firmly, “You are making them proud. I know it doesn’t feel like it matters…and it doesn’t stop the ache…but you are.”
Nyx nodded clearing his throat before adjusting his clothes, “How do I look?”
“Like a king.” Drautos smiled before knocking on the door. They both heard Regis on the other side calling them to entering. Drautos took the lead, “Thank you for seeing us today your majesty.”
“Of course. My niece put a lot of effort in solidifying your people here…” Regis spoke as he finished some paperwork not looking up as Drautos shut the door, “it would be negligent of me not see her hard work remain.”
“I’m happy to hear you say that.” Nyx spoke watching Regis’ hand stop. Slowly his eyes rose to meet Nyx’s, “I want the same thing.”
“Ulric…” Regis stared at him for a moment longer before returning to the paperwork. He finished the last sentence before setting his pen down, “Your leave isn’t up yet and you’re already looking to add additional duties to your roster?”
“It’s a bit more complicated than that, sir. May I sit?” Nyx waved his hand to the chair in front of the desk.
“Of course.” Regis smiled at him as he leaned back waiting. After a moment he took a deep breath, “I’m feeling a bit of uneasiness in here…”
“Titus…” Nyx took in a breath, “Could you give us a moment?”
“Yes sir, of course.” Nyx looked back at Regis seeing his eyes narrow as Drautos excused himself.
“Hm…” Regis titled his head a little, “I sense that this is a heavier conversation then just helping to manage your people’s affairs.”
“Not really…” Nyx looked down smiling a little, “Sorry…Uh…I’m a bit out of practice…Uh…I need to apologize to you, to start.”
Regis’ eyes widened slightly before he nodded slowly, “Go on…”
“I…came here from Galahd…and became a soldier. Someone who could just blend into the crowd and fade away in a busy metropolis.” Nyx raised his eyes looking at him feeling his chest tighten with nerves, “But I’m not a soldier…I-I’m uh a leader…”
Regis let out a soft sigh letting his shoulders slump a little before he stood up moving around the desk taking a seat in the empty chair next to Nyx. Before he spoke, he reached over touching Nyx’s shoulder gently, “I know exactly who you are, Nyx Ulric.”
Nyx felt his eyes widen as he stared into Regis’ eyes, “No…I don’t think you do.”
Regis smiled as he spoke softly with a great deal of care, “You have your mother’s eyes…but I think she was right…your carry yourself differently. She said it was like your father, Anders. She had the most loving and heartbreaking look on her face as we watched walk toward the city with your guards.”
“You…you met my mother?” Nyx felt everything he had been preparing for just shatter around him.
“I did.” Regis moved his hand taking a deep breath, “I couldn’t let my brother head to a sovereign nation by himself, could I?”
“No…I…suppose not…” Nyx looked away from him shaking his head, “Why didn’t you say anything?”
Regis shut his eyes hanging his head, “Six months before you walked into my city…I had lost my brother and his wife. Two beautiful souls taken from us too soon, and I was left to care for my niece. She was broken and her recovery would take long time.”
“Then I saw you come before me. Kneeling to pledge you service to my kingdom…also broken…having lost not just your country…but your family. I could relate in your pain a little. I could understand wanting anonymity. People need time to grieve and heal…perhaps that’s what you were doing…” Regis looked at him with a pained expression, “If it was your intention to keep yourself safe, I didn’t want to expose you. Or if it was your intention to leave your city behind…who was I to stop you?”
“So instead I made sure to keep an eye on you myself. It was the least I could do to honor your mother…” Regis sighed a little, “Now I feel it’s my turn to apologize. I’m so sorry I didn’t see how the orders were handed out…”
Nyx swallowed before he nodded, “That’s why I’m coming forward…that can’t happen again. We can’t keep living like we’re second class citizens…worse…like we’re nothing but cannon fodder…”
Regis sighed again putting his hands over his face before lacing his fingers together looking at Nyx, “I wish to grant you everything…I do…”
Nyx frowned seeing the conflict racing in Regis’ eyes, “But?”
“There are reasons why I cannot move…I am trying to set everything right but doing so puts Y/N at great risk…” Regis frowned staring at him, “She’s not ready for what I have planned.”
Nyx felt his fists clenched, “Part of your plan marrying her off to the Prince of Tenebrae?”
“I assure you that is not happening…” Regis leaned back exasperated, “No, it was suggested…I have no intention of making her marry anyone she doesn’t choose, but as I said…plans are in motion…that is…a ruse I’m using to busy a few parties.”
“You should have told her that. She’s…”
“I know.” Regis frowned as he spoke firmly, “But I need her anger to be real…I need everyone to be distracted by the prospect of her getting out of the way.”
Then it dawned on him what Regis was doing as he sat back in the chair. He was trying to put you back on the throne, “What do you need from me?”
Regis stood up moving back behind his desk, “Well your majesty…I need you to play along…let’s discuss how we’re going to help one another.”
A few hours later he was walking with his arms behind his back a pensive look on his face. He wasn’t expecting today to go how it did, and yet…there was a plan made and he knew more than before…much more.
He stepped up to your new office knocking on the door and waited. He smiled when heard your voice calling to enter. Cracking the door, he stuck his head in only, “Can I steal you away?”
You looked up face brightening with a smile when he entered, “Nyx! What are you doing here?”
“I had some business to take care of…thought I’d drop in.” He shut the door behind himself as you stood up, “That okay?”
“Of course…” You walked over to him looking him up and down making him smirk a little, “You look…”
“Good, right?” He spoke confidently tugging at his jacket.
“Very.” You stopped in front of him smiling as your eyes twinkled.
He chuckled a little feeling his ears get hot, “Yeah…uh…”
“Bashful?” You asked him sliding your arms around his waist which surprised him. You used to be very reserved before he left. Had distance made the heart grow fonder?
“Uh…maybe a little. Used of just being a grunt.” He smiled before holding you in his arms, “How much longer do you have to work?”
“I’m not working on anything important…really I’ve been trying to avoid councilmembers all day…” You sighed a little, “They’re not letting up…”
Nyx nodded slowly wishing he could tell you everything was eventually going to work out fine. That the marriage proposal was all a lie, “…then…let’s get out of here…”
You tilted your head a little, “I can’t just leave, and you know that…”
“Yes, I do.” He smiled a little before nudging your nose with his, “But I’m pretty Titus will do anything for me today. So…grab a coat…walk me home.”
“How can I refuse a well-dressed man?” You giggled walking back around your desk, “What were you doing here anyway? What business couldn’t wait until next week?”
“Hm…let’s talk about that later.” He smiled at you raising his hands up when you looked worried, “Don’t worry, everything is fine. Better then fine.”
“If you say so…” You locked everything up checking it twice before grabbing your coat and a hat that he recognized as his, but that wasn’t what bothered him.
“Everything alright?” He asked as you walked back to him, “That’s a lot of locked drawers.”
“Uh…been a bit paranoid lately…I just…” You looked at your desk as put pulled on the jacket, “I’ve felt as if things have been moved lately…I just want to be sure nothing goes missing.”
“I can have the crew come through and set up some security.” He frowned looking around the room already seeing were the cameras could be installed.
“I can’t do that…Some things are so sensitive I can’t risk it.” You smiled at him tugging on the hat, “I appreciate you trying though.”
“Just let me know if I can do something. I’m here to make your life easier and safer.” He opened the door for you.
“You know I will.” You stepped out and he led you through the halls as you chit chatted with one another.
“Y/N…” He watched your hair practically stand on end as you both rounded a corner hearing the familiar tones of a foreign prince, “You said you were busy…”
“I am.” You kept walking as Nyx glanced back looking at Ravus. He felt his jaw clench as he turned away.
“Doing what? We need to discuss…”
“I’m sorry I’m busy…I’m needed outside the Citadel.” You kept going as he approached you both from behind him, “Another time.”
“Y/N!” Ravus reached forward to grab you but was intercepted by a firm grip crushing his wrist. He glared at Nyx as he was forced back.
“Do not…lay a hand on her, without her permission.” Nyx practically growled at him his eyes holding an icy glare.
“You will lose your job for this…” Ravus spat at him, “I’ll make sure of it.”
Nyx shrugged letting him go watching his rub his wrist like a wounded dog, “I’m not on the clock…Ma’am, we need to go, or we’ll be late…”
You looked up at him as he ushered you into the stairwell that would lead them out only hearing Ravus throwing a mild tantrum. Neither of you spoke as he ushered them out past the guards walking toward the street. He pulled out his phone tell Drautos what was going on and left it that.
You both remained silent as they walked through the city. He felt miles apart from you, despite being right next to you. He hated that you both had to keep your distance still…right now more then ever he wanted to comfort you and be comforted…
“Nyx…” He was brought out of his thoughts as you whispered to him reaching out squeezing his hand, “what was that back there?”
He swallowed before he forced a smile taking his hand away, “It’s…I just didn’t…He shouldn’t have tried to grab you…”
“And we knew that was a problem already…you didn’t need to almost break his wrist, that could have gotten you into a lot of trouble.” You chided him making a face that for some reason frustrated him, “Nyx, what’s really going?”
“I don’t…I don’t wanna talk about this right now…” He started walking again.
You followed behind him as he started undoing his jacket. Today was just beginning to be too much. He wasn’t sure if he could keep things from you, and now everything was beginning to boil up. He was losing control…
“Nyx!” You reached out grabbing his arm getting him to look at you.
“Nothing’s is…” He started to say shutting his eyes.
“Something is! So, what is it?” You sniped back quickly as worried filled your delicate eyes, “Nyx…this isn’t…”
“I want to marry you!” He shouted throwing his hands out getting you to stop as he went on, “I want to marry you…not him…and I want to hold you in front of everyone and I want to kiss you whenever I want!”
He let out a heavy sigh turning from you for a moment feeling embarrassment rise to his cheeks before he turned back speaking softly, “I want…you…I want to grow old with you, have kids, the whole thing…and seeing him just push around like a thing and not a person…”
He looked down to his feet and kept his gaze down until you spoke. Your voice was crystal clear, “Okay…yes.”
His eyes snapped up meeting your face. Your smile was shining brightly in your eyes. He cleared his throat, “I…I wasn’t actually…asking…”
“Okay…” You smirked a little as you walked past him, “Guess now you know the answer when you do.”
How you continued to surprise him was truly incredible, and he loved it…He loved you...and yet he hadn’t told you yet. He should fix that.
He took a few long strides to catch up to you. Glancing over he could see the rose color on your cheeks as you smiled. He smiled looking forward, “I love you.”
He looked back when you looked at him. He didn’t think your smile could get bigger…he was glad to be proven wrong, “I love you too, Nyx.”
There it was. A promise. A deal sealed to always return home at night. To make it back from every trip. Loving you was simply like coming home…and like any good Galahdian…he’d do anything for hearth and home.

Middlemarch: Alternate Universe [Ravus/Reader] Finale
Tumblr media
AN: This final chapter of Middlemarch was a long time coming. I’m so sorry for how long it took!
There are purposely some stuff left unanswered and open ended, though if asked, I will elaborate on it :3

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After the Trial of the Archean
It was immensely awkward, you decided in that moment. Why? Because after that moment of affection and intimacy from the High Commander, it seemed as if the both of you had taken five enormous steps backwards in terms of your relationship. Despite your past together as playmates, and despite the fact that he had saved you, Ravus still seemed to resent you immensely. The morning after you recovered your memories of your connection to Ravus, you’d been greeted with the old stoic and borderline antagonistic attitude you’d seen briefly. When confronted, Ravus had simply huffed, stated that nothing good could come of any relationship with a Lucian, he’d taken his paperwork and all but stomped out of the room. Occasionally, you’d see Ravus come check on your recovery progress, but it had been the last that you had personally spoken with him.
His eyes are not the same. You observed during one of his visits to check on your health. A metal arm, and a different colored eye. Probably from the aftermath of trying to wear the Ring of the Lucii. There were so many questions that you wanted to ask him. Why did you stop writing to me?
Had I done something wrong?
Why are you so cold to me now?
It’s been three days since you’d last spoken with the broody man, and the bitterness was starting to build up again. Just like it did when Noctis abandoned you in favor of his love, Lunafreya, you felt the loneliness build. Except, unlike the last times, where you had Ravus and then Cor, this time you had no one. With Ravus seemingly abandoning you as well, you’d been left as prey for the one person you knew who liked to mess with people the most.
Yes, as of right now, you were being dragged around from location to location by the Chancellor of Niflheim himself, Ardyn Izunia. You’d protested heavily when the auburn headed man practically stormed your room and swept you off your feet, carrying you like a sack of potatoes as he seemed to teleport in the same manner of those blessed by the Crystal.
Once Ardyn seemed to touch back down onto solid ground, he let you squirm out of his hold, aiming a rather mischievous look at you. “So? How was my driving?”
What in the- Driving? You groaned as your stomach turned unpleasantly, “I think I’m gonna puke.” You’d used the King’s power to phase and teleport before, but never through such a long distance. At least, you gathered this from the sudden fact that you were outside the airship, in a military base. Though appreciating the fact that Ardyn had given you some time to regain your footing, you still gave him a stern glare. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Aww. You don’t want to see your beloved friends? I thought I told you that your beloved Prince was waiting.” Ardyn pouted heavily, and while you admitted that the look worked for him, it still didn’t seem right that a man his age would pout.
The twitching in your cheek came out of nowhere as you opened your mouth to shoot out a snarky reply. You were interrupted by a loud thud when you tried to snark back, bringing a halt to your statement as Ardyn tsked, waving his hand for you to follow. “Come hither. Wouldn’t want anyone getting killed now.”
Ardyn walked off before you could answer, leaving you following behind at a slow pace. What the hell is wrong with this guy?
“I’d say that’s far enough.” you suddenly heard Ardyn chide, like an adult scolding children, though you snickered at the irony. “A hand, Highness?” Your eyes narrowed, Highness?
“Not from you.”
“Oh, but I’m here to help.”
“And how is that?”
The familiar voices had you sprinting at full speed, catching Ravus’s eye as you practically slid around the corner to see your friends.
“By first bringing back something you lost.” you heard Ardyn answer.
“What do you mean by-”
“NOCT!” You practically screeched, sprinting past Ravus and Ardyn to glomp your friend.
All around you, there were gasps of surprise. The man in your arms froze, unable to move in his disbelief, afraid that everything was a dream. That you weren’t really in his arms. “Y-Y/N?”
“I’m so glad you’re all okay!” You cried in relief at seeing your childhood friends and brother.
“We thought you died!” Gladio looked on the verge of tears as he ran to engulf you and Noctis in a great hug. Prompto and Ignis followed soon after, and you allowed yourself to grin in happiness at being reunited with those you had considered your family.
“Y/N… You shouldn’t be running around so soon.” Ravus protested, extending a hand, something resembling worry passing over his face for just the briefest of moments. When you only ignored the older man, his face hardened, schooled into another stoic mask as he turned his attention to Ardyn. “I told you not to bother them.”
“I could let dear Y/N die of boredom, now could I?” Ardyn argued with a tone that suggested a lack of seriousness. “To torture your Little Light by abandoning them in that cold metal prison… how cruel.” The Chancellor tsked, a knowing glint to his eyes as he started to walk away. “Come now, Commander. Make haste.” His sly gaze spoke volumes as he stared at Noctis, “When next we meet, it’ll be across the seas. Just so happens we have business of our own with the tutelary deity, don’t we?”
Ravus refused to acknowledge Ardyn, his gaze set upon your form, still surrounded by your friends. There was an almost pleading sadness to his eyes when he stared after you, but you stubbornly refused to acknowledge him in return. Something about Ardyn was hauntingly familiar as he bid the group farewell and walked away with Ravus. You shook your head in confusion, forcing your mind away from the matter, simply happy to have been reunited with Noctis and Gladio.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
During the Trial of Leviathan
You missed being able to throw your weapon and teleport, especially now that the entirety of Altissia was under siege by the Hydraean and Niflheim forces. Noctis, Gladio, Prompto, and Ignis had all begged for you to stay with the evacuated civilians, but you couldn’t sit back and let your friends do all the fighting. The minute that the Hydraean appeared to answer Noctis’ call, you’d sprinted back into the city just before the waves rose to form a barrier. When the Niflheim airships encroached upon the city, seeming to head towards the Alter of the Tidemother, you sprinted faster, slipping the communications earpiece that Ignis had given you into your left ear. The floor rumbled as the waves shook the water bound city, and still you didn’t stumble. “Ignis? What’s going on?” “Y/N! Whatever you do, stay far away from the city!” It’s your brother’s voice that advises you from the earpiece, sounding like he was running somewhere.
“Uh…” You paused your sprint to look around for a higher vantage point, “Maybe too late for that.” There’s an exasperated groan from the other end of the comm link from your older brother. “Fine… just… play it safe, okay? I can’t lose you.”
You’re about to respond when an angry roar shakes the area. Stand on top of a building after having scaled the walkways and side tiles, you could see the Hydraean screech in anger from afar before attacking a flying speck… who you assumed to be Noctis. Remembering that you should have responded to Gladio, you spoke in a winded voice. “I’ll stay away from anything overwhelming, but it’s still my job to protect Noctis.” The tired sigh from Gladiolus brings a regretful frown to your face, knowing that your big brother only wanted you to be safe from harm. “I guess that’s all I can really ask for, huh… Love you, sis.” “Love you, too, big bro.” Was the response you gave before jumping towards another rooftop, making your way towards the Altar of the Tidemother.
You’re just about halfway to the altar when a bright beam lights up the sky, the ground shaking violently following. The Archenn rises from the water to challenge the Hydraean, and your comms piece crackles to life, Ignis’ voice filtering through. “Noct! Do you read me?” You could hear Ignis call over the comms unit before Titan slammed a fist into the water, creating a shockwave that knocked the approaching airships out of the sky and into the city.
Too focused on keeping your balance on top of one of the Altissian buildings, you failed to notice that one of the airships had crashed into a towering piece of architecture, sending debris plummeting down around you.
“Ah! Damn!” You cursed, eyes darting around for a building that was still stable. When you didn’t see any to climb up towards, you sprinted over to the edge of the building, deciding that down into the water was better than getting crushed by pieces of building. “Let’s hope the water isn’t too turbulent.” You muttered before jumping off in a pencil dive.
Not even 15 minutes later
You coughed and sputtered as you tread water, once more having been knocked under the Altissian waters from the violent waves that crashed around the once beautiful city. The communication device fizzled in your ear, emitting only a few words from your brother, Prompto, and Ignis before dying from all the water damage.
“Great. Just great.” You muttered as you swam towards the closest ledge and pulled yourself out of the tepid water. Yanking the device out of your ear before it shocked you, you took a minute to rest your muscles, sea water dripping off your body as an exhausted groan left your lips. “Okay… Altar… that’s where I need to go.”
Climbing to your feet, you glanced around the street for any sign of enemies before allowing your gaze to drift upwards, wanting to get on top of another rooftop. Even among the rubble that littered the street, there wasn’t any easy way to climb up to the rooftops. “Okay then… I guess we’re doing this the old fashion way.” The sigh that escaped your lips was cut short by the distinct sound of a screeching Magitek soldier. “Astrals preserve me.” You cursed with a roll of your eyes, turning in place to summon your greatsword in a flash of crystalline light just as a large group of Niflheim puppet soldiers rounded the corner of the building towards you, surrounding you on all sides.
You’d seen the inhuman soldiers fight before, but had never personally fought one until now. As such, you remained a cautious distance away from the Niflheim puppets as they attacked with random patterns and seemingly zero team coordination. There was no technique for you to be weary of, no pattern for you to exploit. Just the overwhelming number of them. They were just mindless toys of the Niflheim Empire, but that was fine. You’d faced greater odds before. It took a little bit of time on your part, as well as the use of some thunder elemancy, but all the Magitek soldiers eventually fell at your feet.
“Waste of my time!” You growled, moving to scale the nearest wall in order to get a better vantage point of the city. Explosions and gunfire could be heard all around you, though you barely paid attention to anything besides the beam of light from the Altar. “Gotta get to Noct and Luna.” You muttered before sprint forward once more, doing your best to dodge the magitek armors that patrolled the ruins near the Altar.
The closer you came to the Altar, you began to notice the skies darken, rain falling as the Archaean and Hydraean departed. The beam of bright light that was once your waypoint dimmed and disappeared just as you rounded the corner and onto the path towards the altar. “No, no, no, no!” You pleaded under your breath, “Please don’t be too late to save them.”
For all the resentment you held towards Lunafreya, you didn’t hate the older woman. She had supported and protected Noctis during the darkest times of his childhood, and you swore to protect those that your King cared for.
But now, as your eyes took in the scene before you… of two tall familiar figures standing over the fallen lovers, you realized that you’d failed. The radiant glow from Lady Lunafreya dimmed until it was extinguished, though you still forced your tired feet to stumble forward, stopping to stand beside Ravus and Ignis, an expression of horror on your face.
“No…” the grief in Ravus’ voice gave you pause as he stumbled disbelieving towards Luna’s body. You could understand part of the grief, having lost your father only days before, but you couldn’t imagine losing your entire family.
“Ravus…” you lifted a hand to reach out to him, but the Prince of Tenebrae continued forward, a growl to his tone.
“First, the Lucians stole from me my mother…” Your breathing paused as you scrambled through your memory for what little you remembered of the old reports on the attack. We didn’t… But we weren’t the ones that killed the Queen. Eyes darting to rest on Ravus’ back, your body tensed as he continued to speak, drawing his sword to strike down the unconscious Noctis. “And now they make a sacrifice of my sister!”
Ignis reacts just a split second faster than you do, stopping Ravus’ downward strike. Bewildered and still shocked from the lack of life in both Lunafreya and Noctis, you missed the two protectors’ exchange until Ignis roughly shoved Ravus back, taking the enraged and grief-stricken Prince on and pleading for him to return to his senses.
Trusting Ignis to handle calming Ravus down, you dashed forward and fell to your knees, checking both Oracle and King for heartbeats. “If I can do one thing right this day, please let it be to save them.” You pray, utilizing what little first aid you learned. As was expected of a King’s Sworn Shield, you confirmed that Noctis was okay first before moving onto Lady Lunafreya. The rain had long since washed away most of the evidence, but from the trail of blood from the altar proper to where the two lovers lay, you knew that Luna had lost too much blood for your meager first aid to be able to do anything about. Still, you worked to staunch the bleeding, using as much Curative Magic as your body could produce, hoping that you could at least prolong her life enough for proper aid to arrive.
Don’t die, You begged, pulling at all your magical reserves as you forced yourself to use the unnatural magic. Don’t die, Lunafreya. Don’t leave Noctis. Don’t leave Ravus. Please! Healing magic was never supposed to be used by a Lucian, only the Oracles of Tenebrae, and despite using everything you had in your body, the spell did nothing. Exhausted and without energy, you slouched forward with a miserable sob. “No! What good am I if I can’t even save one life?”
Before you knew it, a body sank heavily to the floor beside you, reaching out towards Luna’s body. “But… part of me always hoped… that I might see you happy one day. Your burdens lifted, free to live and love as you please.” Your eyes darted away from such a private moment between brother and sister, though it didn’t stop you from hearing, “You would have made a beautiful bride.”
Your eyes darted to stare at Noctis, silently agreeing that Luna would indeed have made a beautiful bride for Noctis. The Fates are cruel. You lamented as the darkness was briefly illuminated by Luna’s passing, her spirit appearing above the water… beautiful, benevolent, and lively as she smiled towards her brother, who begged for her not to go. And as you watched Ravus sob, something within you mourned with him.
Once upon a time, Ravus had been the light to coax you away from the darkness. As you shifted weakly to sit beside him, you knew that it was time you acted as his light.
Hesitantly, you extended a trembling hand to rest on his Magitek arm, drawing mournful heterochromatic eyes to your own. Nothing was said between the two of you, though Ravus raised his right hand to grasp your own.
Please stay with me. His eyes plead, tears trailing downwards with the rain.
A squeeze of your hand was all the answer that the Prince needed, I won’t leave you.
After a small lot of time, the group of you could hear thudding footsteps approach. “Gladio!” You raised your head from where it rested on Ravus’ shoulder to stare at your older brother, only to furrow when he ignored Ignis’ follow up questions in favor of staring at the man beside you.
“Well, well.” Your brother muttered a little too elegantly as he approached. “What have we here?”
You rose, your greatsword summoned with the intention to block your brother’s attack upon Ravus, but even summoning your weapon proved too exhausting, and you slipped, slumping into Ravus’ firm back, which remained steady even as he blocked Gladio’s strike, “You… “ Ravus growled, staring up at your brother’s towering form. “Ardyn.”
“Ardyn?” Blinking in confusion, you watched in horror as the illusion dropped, and Ardyn Izunia stood before the lot of you, Niflheim soldiers surging forward to detain all of you.
Watching as they manhandled Ignis and Ravus ignited a fury within you. And despite how exhausted you already were, you called upon the power bestowed to you by the late King Regis. A powerful surge of electricity discharged from your body, shocking the troops around you and Ravus enough for the Prince to distract Ardyn. Weakened from reaching far over your limit, you reacted too late to block the descent of Ardyn’s arm to your neck, hearing only the cry of your name from Ignis and Ravus before your vision went black and you slumped forward into the Chancellor.
The next you woke, Noctis had sealed himself into the Crystal and eternal night had fallen over the world.
Y/N
I know if you were awake, you would have yelled at me for doing this. But I have a destiny to fulfill. I wanted to be there for you when you woke up, but the world couldn’t wait. While I take care of what I need to, I’m leaving everything to you, Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto. And do me a favor? Live for yourself. I know you spent your entire life training to protect me, but I don’t want your life to go to waste. Ravus promised me that you’d be safe in Tenebrae, and I hope that when I do return, you’ll have your own story to tell me.
With Love,
Noctis
You sighed as you read the letter in your hand for probably the fiftieth time since you woke up. The pristine room seemed to taunt you as you sat in the soft bed, mulling over Noctis’ request. “Live for myself, huh?” An anxious laugh escaped your lips, “How to even begin…”
“You could start by trying to leave the bed.” A voice suggested dryly from the room entrance.
The smile that rose to your lips didn’t go unnoticed as Ravus stepped further into the room, closing the door behind him as he balanced a tray of food you. “Good morning, Ravus.” You greeted your host… though caretaker seemed a more appropriate title for the Prince of Tenebrae at that point.
Setting the tray of food down onto the small tea table, Ravus strolled forward to extend a hand, urging you to your feet gently as he stood by you for support. “It is actually closer to the afternoon, but that is of no consequence.” With one arm supporting your waist, the ex-Commander extended his left arm to pull out a plush chair before guiding you to the seat. “You should eat to recover your strength.” The last of the Nox Fleurets suggested, buttering a slice of bread for you before handing it over.
Muttering a soft ‘thank you,’ you took the buttered croissant, noting with affection that Ravus had remembered your love of spreading a copious amount of butter onto your bread. “You remembered how I like my butter.”
The ex-High Commander allowed his lips to curl at the edges, “I don’t think I could ever forget your bad habits.”
“Hmph.” You stuck your nose up and pouted haughtily as you bit into the bread, chewing and swallowing before answering Ravus. “Butter makes everything better, Rae.” Ravus merely continued to smile, his only answer being a soft chuckle as he set about fixing you a cup of tea.
Now that he wasn’t looking at you so closely, you could see the well hidden exhaustion on the twenty-eight year old. Having been trained to read people, you could tell that recent events had truly taken a toll on your childhood friend. “I can practically feel your stare burning a hole into me, Y/N.” Ravus’ blue and purple eyes suddenly meet yours, “I suspect you have some questions.” Unfortunately, you were never that subtle with your observations…
Licking your lips to get rid of the butter and crumbs, but also as a nervous habit, you set the croissant down. “I understand all that Ignis told me… about the Starscourge… about Ardyn’s true identity… and about Noctis’ role in all this. But what I don’t understand is why I’m here in Tenebrae. I appreciate what you’ve done for my friends and I… and I’m more grateful that you’ve allowed me to stay here but… Surely your contempt of Lucians has not magically disappeared.”
“You needed a safe place to rest and recover.”
“I could have done that in Lucis. My brother and sister would have looked after me.” You quickly refuted Ravus’ reasoning. “Ravus… I know you promised to protect me when we were children… but… in light of what happened… I don’t think you should feel obligated to protect me.”
Blue and purple eyes gazed upon you with hurt and outrage, “You think that I allowed your stay here out of some misplaced sense of obligation?”
Not letting his tone affect you, you merely stared back at the Tenebraen Prince calmly, “Ravus… What else am I supposed to think of this situation? You cut off all connection with me for over ten years, and when I see you again, you make it no mystery that you abhor Lucians. And now, for whatever reason, you’ve suddenly taken an interest in my well-being.” Ravus almost looked ashamed for a moment, “So, I’m asking you now, Ravus. Why am I here?”
The silence that descended upon the room was tense and awkward. And when Ravus wouldn’t meet your eyes, you just wanted to kick yourself. And why can’t I keep my fat mouth shut. He was being nice, Y/N. Nice after ten years of ignoring your existence. And now he’s lost his little sister, and you’re being ungrateful. Sighing heavily, you took a breath before speaking, an apology on the tip of your tongue.
“Ravus, I-”
“... Is it too much to not wish to be alone?”
The heartbroken and stressed edge to Ravus’ voice brought a wince to your face. And there you go, Y/N. Congratulations on being the most insensitive a-hole on this side of the planet. “Rae…”
“My sister is dead, Y/N. The last of my family has been taken from me and I…” His voice caught as his head turned to look in your direction, tearful eyes meeting yours. “She was all I had left. And now I have nothing.” You weren’t entirely sure if Ravus had even allowed himself to mourn. “Would you fault me for wanting a friend?”
You were on your feet before your brain had time to think about it. It’s not too much to ask. You want to say, but what leaves your lips is, “I’m here.” Your legs fail the moment that you put weight on them, and while you don’t scream or emote, you cry on the inside when Ravus catches you. WHAT IS THIS HORRIBLE CLICHE.
Hoping that the moment hadn’t been ruined as you’re gently guided to the floor, you continue to speak, sinking to your knees alongside Ravus. “I’ll be here for you, Ravus. Until you no longer need me.”
Something in Ravus’ expression cracks and he pulls you close, embracing you as his body trembles, “Oh, Little Light. I don’t think there will be a time where I won’t need you.”

Imagine being the first one to trust Ravus when he joins the journey
Tumblr media
You understood why the guys were so cautious around him, but still. You guys opted to stay in a hotel to take it easy on everyone for a bit. “I don’t think we can all sleep comfortably in one room” Prompto stuttered out “s’fine one of you guys can room with me” you didn’t even look at them. You really didn’t care.
You never like sharing a room so whenever the guys got a hotel you got yourself a separate. No havinv to hurry up in the bathroom, no sensoring your language, no having to get up and go change somewhere else. Goddamn life could be great.
They all looked at you, Ravus especially. “However we’re gonna need an extra room card, you go inside I’ll go get it. Just put my bag inside for me” you handed your card to Ravus and started to head for the elevator.
“I’m gonna head to the vending machine and see what they’ve got.” Prompto said before running to catch up to you so that he wouldn’t have to wait for the elevator.
The rest of them were silent. Still tired from their most recent battle and inner demons. Ravus shuffled his bag and yours onto his arm ao could open the door. He caught the stare of Gladiolus that was telling him not to try anything. He blinked and went into your now shared room.
“I’m so tired that my legs hurt” you told Prompto while staring at the ceiling of the elevator. “Heh~, then why did you offer to go” he looked at you with concern in his eyes. “Prompto, you could basically taste the tension in there I would rather just get away from it and still be in pain then still be there and be in pain.” He nodded, the elevator dinged and you both got out. You went to the vending machine where he stood looking at it as if it ate his shoe. “Hey, you ready to head back up” you sighed out, six you were tired. He shook his head ‘no’ “okay well I am so night” “night” he never took his eyes off of those chips.
Ravus was exhausted to say the least. After today’s hunt, his first hunt.He took his things and yours, inside the room.He put your things on your bed and then sat down on the one that he claimed to be his own for the night. Letting his hot hands drag down his face. Why did you offer to share a room with him, the others barely trust him, so why did you?
You stuffed your in-ears and let ‘The Ink Spots’ fill your mind. You were kind of scared to go back to that tension filled area but you had no other choice. Not only were you in desperate need of a shower, but you also would like to sleep on that oh so comfortable bed considering that you won’t have it tomorrow.
Once you opened the door you saw Ravus who looked to be very very deep in his own thoughts. “Uhm” you tried to get his attention, it didn’t work so you tries a little harder and louder “UHM” it worked “sorry to interrupt your brooding but do you wanna take a shower first or should I?” You questioned.
No matter how tired and upset he was Ravus had always considered himself a gentleman. “No, you may” he said “thank you” you remembered your manners.
As he heard the water running Ravus wondered why you would trust him with your belongings? He believes that it is quite foolish of you to trust some one you barely knew anymore. “If you’re wondering why I chose to trust you, it’s because everyone deserves a second chance.” Ravus directed his gaze to fix yours, eyebrows furrowed with great confusion. How in the hell could you know what he was thinking. “I don’t know why but you’re just not that hard to read” you shrugged and hung your towel behind the bathroom door and started to put on your socks for the night. It matched your oversized night shirt and comfy yoga pants. “Bathroom’s free” you got up to get your hairbrush.You saw him have his own inward struggle “I won’t touch anything of yours if that’s what you’re worried about” you tried to calm him. He paused to look at you “That is not my issue in spite of that, thank you”. You were surprised, hopefully this wouldn’t be as bad as it was last time.

Nsfw oneshot Ravus x fem!reader & prompt "Hey, cut it out. It’s the holidays" 😚
nsfw under the cut
Read responsibly!
A lingering touch on your hip, another pulling you nearly flush against him as you both dance on the ballroom floor.
Despite being in the Citadel as his sister and the Prince, well King now, had thrown a small ball to celebrate the approaching holiday and new year, where he would scold behavior like this, Ravus had no qualms about his touches, both frisky and not.
“You’re no fair,” You whine, after he pulls away from another deep kiss, one that left you both breathless and weak in the knees.
Ravus said nothing, but his usual stern look made way for a hint of a teasing smile and you gape at him in surprise.
No way, Ravus of all people-! If you weren’t surrounded by a good amount of Lucis’ and Tenebrae’s nobility you would have let out a less than dignified curse.
But instead, you smile in return. And Ravus blinks, before raising an eyebrow in interest.
Taking his hand, you lead him to the ballroom floor again, this time standing much closer as you both begin to dance anew.
Particularly when he twirls you around, your hands linger just above the waistband of his pants. You hear him inhale.
Later when the festivities die down and you both have snuck off to a much more, private, setting, Ravus, keeping you in place, both hands on the side of your head, eyes focused only on you.
You only grin, “Hey cut it out, it’s the holidays.”
Ravus breathes out a laugh.
Despite your believed discreetness, hearing rumors of ghosts in the Citadel, who’s noises were just hidden away by the crowd of people, you both flush the next time you meet your in-law, who’s knowing smile makes you want to hide under your reports.

Okay, so, I had the coolest dream last night, I’m absolutely buzzing.
I was with the gang in FFXV, and we where all trying to survive a... Dino Apocalypse.
The Crowned City was literally looking like a 100 years of inactivity; kinda desolate even tho there where people around (in a panic or getting eaten).
Ravus was with us and I seriously think he was my boyfriend because we just... had that connection and he was always around me, kinda like... protecting?
Anyway, So, I’m sorta cramped between Ravus and Gladio in the back seat of this... Jeep- like an army Jeep. Jurassic Park kinda Jeep. XD Ignis was Driving and Noctis was in the passenger seat while Prompto was in the back trunk (like a truck only smaller) as the shooter who would shoot any and all Velociraptors that came screaming at us. And they did. Very terrifying.
We also climbed buildings for safer traveling over the Dino-infested streets below, and I even took a round with the gun, in the back trunk even tho Ravus did NOT like it at all. But I killed a Tyrannosaurus Rex! 8D Shot it.... maybe 150 times in the heart (thick hide and sometimes I missed XC) with a rifle.
There was also a time where I nearly got devoured by one of those lake monsters... a... Mosasaurus. Scary, but I survived because MAGIC!
;3; This would be an awesome AU or even a Game aaaaa. Maybe even an RP. LMAO
I love dreaming dreams like this!

All by yourself
A respected doctor in Insomnia. You love your job, but it seems like it sabotages everything else. Gladio's return to your life comes unexpectedly and helping Prince Ravus with his new prosthetic arm is quite a task, but finding balance seems the most difficult of your challenges. Especially in your love life.
