Something that just hit is that in A Rift Apart we find out that the Lombaxes could various records of other dimensions they visited. So i would but the Lombaxes had records on things such as Ultra Beasts since they were not confined by things like Dimensionators too travel since they naturally had that ability which probably would have been a huge deal too the Lombaxes

The fact Knack is practically considered canon in the Ratchet and Clank was a very insane move from Insomniac.

I won't be surprised if an Ultra Beast encounter gave them some extra hope after multiple failures on the first few prototypes. Crafting technology that could cross dimensions ain't exactly easy to find the formulas for, much less make. Even moreso on a huge time crunch.

Hopes will get shattered as motivation drops. Then appears an unknown portal followed by an equally unidentified creature. Scanners read both share the exact same energy. Their otherworldly visitor seems to be on a more friendly exploration than to cause trouble.

Even if the footage of the incident was mundane in nature, it held major importance to the Lombaxes. It embodies hope that the impossible can happen.
