Hi, I’m just wondering if you know when requests will be open again?

Hello there!

So, I've been in grad school for a few years now. I've even gotten my Masters degree now! :D And, I've been SWAMPED. In short, I haven't had much time to write. Plus, by the time my day is done, writing is the last thing I'm in the mood for.

Next semester looks different for me, as I am nearly done with my coursework! But, that doesn't mean I'll completely have my free time. I will need to start job searching, as well as starting work on my dissertation.

However, with the new games coming out soon, and with my life changes, there is a chance that I may come back sometime next year, perhaps early to mid-year? No guarantee, but that's when I think requests may open again. I would probably wipe most of the requests in the inbox, as I've been stuck on em for a while (may keep a couple, though).

Additionally, as I've mentioned before, I was thinking of making this a multi-fandom account. I was specifically toying with adding Stardew Valley and perhaps Undertale to request choices. On Undertale, there would be increased restrictions, as I am not interested in writing X reader romantic/pairing requests for all characters; would primarily be platonic (which can still include a reader, of course).

But, nothing is set in stone. I appreciate you coming by and checking in, though!

I love this blog!!! Could you please write relationship headcanons about Tabitha (the male Team Magma admin, but from the remake OmegaRuby) with a reader who is a woman (INTJ) he works with and has a lighthearted rivalry with? NSFW would be great, with him as the dom!

Hi there! I don’t really do the Meyer-Briggs stuff - not really my thing. But I understand it was a way to get your reader’s personality across. So, I mainly went by a few explanations of that type online, although I only integrated it here and there. Hopefully, it’s accurate! Also, since you said “reader he works with” I assumed they were also in Team Magma.

I imagined this took place during the story, but NOT at the climax of the story, if that makes sense!

One last note - included tiny bits of manga lore. Mainly because it’s nice having more to work with for characters with fewer appearances!

I haven’t been feeling up to writing NSFW lately (I have like 5 asks in my inbox that are stuck right now because of it). I’ll release this as SFW for now, feel free to send another ask!

✩When you joined Magma, you were assigned under one of the admins, Tabitha. Well, that was actually a codename, but you knew him only as Tabitha. He’s not always the easiest person to get along with, but luckily, you two were similar enough to where you could see where the other was coming from.

✩You quickly peaked his interest; he frequently complimented your thoughtfulness and overall rationality - critical for a researcher to have! While he seemed to appreciate your perspective, it was hard to get a word in edgewise with him. But when he did listen to you, you felt like he paid attention to what you said. Which meant a lot, coming from him.

☾But, you felt his respect shift into something else. Subtle things caught your attention - it felt like he was testing you. Started asking you to run the calculations he usually ran, asked YOU to do the fieldwork in the more dangerous (read: hot) areas, so on and so forth. At first, you thought he was just giving you the hard work he didn’t want to do, but he seemed awfully pleased when you succeeded. And, he always praised you.

☾Funny enough, he started timing things. How fast could you run the data? Collect that sample? Write the report for Maxie? Initially, he was always faster than you - not surprising given he’s been around longer. But eventually you began to give him a challenge - now that seemed to excite him.

✩Thus, you ended up together. A lot. Whether it was simply staying the lab for 10 hours a day, or having a field work day to examine geological activity, or even thwarting those who would interfere with Maxie’s plans, you ended up by his side more often than not.

☾This went on for months, although it flew by, really. And, while it developed over time, you eventually ended up in a relationship with him.

✩To say Tabitha was dedicated to his work would be factually correct; however, workaholic was a more apt description. The man was relentless. After all, there was always a #3 ready to take his place - and he couldn’t let that happen.

☾So… anyone in a relationship with him would have to adapt to his often hectic work schedule. Of course, he tries not to make things too stressful - he’s not one for constant stress. But, in some ways, that work brought excitement to your relationship. Especially as some of Magma’s plans began to unfold.

☾That shouldn’t be an issue, though. After all, he joined Magma to better the world (and his own standing in it, of course). So, he fully assumes that you have the same goals in mind. (If not, this would require a long conversation…)

✩Tabitha would suddenly be assigned to a seemingly random area (at least, to you, with your limited knowledge), and then the two of you would be off. With him as your boss, he’d just assign you to the mission as well. It was easy to justify needing an assistant.

✩So, one day you might be in Mossdeep, the next, a tiny town covered in ash. The traveling was tiring at times, but it was also the most time you had with him alone.

☾You preferred traveling alone with him. Not just you had him to yourself, rather, he acted differently. Tabitha in leader-mode was more worried about the job being done right; he could delegate, but you could sense he trusted his own abilities more than most other people’s.

☾But around you, he seemed more relaxed, even when you two were working. Was it because he thought you were capable? Or that he just liked being around you? You couldn’t say. But you knew he seemed a little less tense, and that he laughed a LOT more (to the point where it was funny, given he laughs a lot in GENERAL)

✩And, you made the most of your time together. While you were not the most social person in the world, you were still able to convince him that you two should go out on non work related things every now and then. Dinner at a nice ocean side restaurant in Slateport, shopping in Lilycove, even taking a detour now and then to see some of the many ruins that dot Hoenn’s landscape.

✩Overall, being in a relationship with him ranged from completely over the top to each of you doing your own separate thing for days on end. To be fair, you think it worked better that way. It gave you time to recover! Especially after some of the more… memorable dates he took you on.

✩All in all, you looked forward to whatever your future held for you two; given your plans in Magma, you were certain it was going to be bright.

i don’t wanna be a killjoy but if you’re playing pokemon arceus please take the time to learn about the ainu people, their ongoing struggle to keep their culture alive, and the colonisation of hokkaido (the area the sinnoh region is based on)

the game itself has a good bit of colonialist themes and indigenous erasure, which means it’s up to fans to educate themselves and be mindful of what things they internalise. this isn’t a call out or guilt trip, i’m just asking people to be aware of the context behind the media they consume.

additionally, consider boosting ainu voices (especially about the game itself), donating to ainu individuals, and spreading awareness on the subject as allies.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

This is pure (and somewhat late) self indulgent writing doodles for you.  I just felt like writing for Grimsley, and it’s the end of the year, so here ya go, Grimsley HCs for the holidays and New Years.  For where this takes place in the timeline, this is Alolan-form Grimsley!  Also using a bit of lore? from Masters, which isn’t canon, but when you’re working with minor characters, you’re already working with crumbs, so I’ll take everything I can get!  I tend to HC Alolan Grimsley as being down on his luck so to speak, so that’s also intertwined here.

✩ For most of his life, the end of the year was both exhilarating yet exhausting for Grimsley.  

✩ The holidays?  Exhausting.  Back when he lived at his family’s estate, he learned that the holidays weren’t just for bonding, or giving gifts, or even just relaxing.  

☾ No, the holidays were time for strategy.  It was one of the few times the entire family was gathered together, which presented an important opportunity, not a time to unwind.  Planning new business ventures. Keeping up with the progress or failures of various family members, including the children.  Even the gifts were tracked! Keeping track of who gave what, and importantly, the worth of each gift. As an adult, he found it all so petty and distasteful.

☾ As a kid, he was unaware of course, but by the time he was a teen, he caught on.  And while he’s well aware most families aren’t as messed up as his, those early experiences still more or less ruined the holidays for him.

✩ So, he usually doesn’t do much to celebrate.  Sure, if he’s invited to go somewhere by someone he’s close to, such as a friend or even a significant other, he would happily accompany them, but he’s not one to make yearly plans for the holidays. 

☾ He DOES enjoy the holidays is vicariously through others, though. While he typically won’t enjoy them much on his own, that doesn’t mean he has to bring everyone else down. 

☾ If anything, back when he had money, he used to be quite generous with gifts.  And as someone who was quite good at reading people and picking up on small clues to what they might like, it was rare for Grimsley to give a gift that was unwanted.  Even if it was just through gifts, if it made the receiver happy, it made him happy.

☾ Now, though, that wasn’t exactly an option. Besides, a lot of the people he used to know are no longer in contact with him. 

✩ If he wasn’t spending his holiday time alone or by just doing non-holiday things (battling and surfing, most likely), he liked to take walks in the cities.  While Alola was sunny and bright during the holidays, decorations were still put up, lights were wound around the palm trees, and people celebrated just as cheerfully as those in Unova.

☾ And while it may sound creepy, watching other people doing their holiday shopping or enjoying the festivities was still nice. In a way, their happiness was contagious?

☾ Often, when he saw someone stuck on a decision of what to buy, he’d play a small game of trying to figure out what’d they end up deciding on.  Having so little to go off of, he wasn’t always right, but it was still fun regardless.

✩ Now, AFTER the holidays had passed, that’s when things got better.

✩ A new year is quite exciting, after all.  A chance for change. But for better or worse?  At this point in his life, it felt like a flip of a coin.  But, that’s still a chance, and he wasn’t one to squander chances.

✩ So, he liked to celebrate New Years, in whatever small ways he could.

☾ Some years, he’d wander over to Nanu’s to pop in and say hi.  Usually, the old man was more than content to spend the day alone with his cats.  Nanu wasn’t fond of the noise or the crowds or most of everything that went into a New Years celebration.  So, Grimsley usually just said hi; sometimes they’d go for sushi for lunch, but that was about it.

✩ One thing he consistently did every year since he arrived in Alola was watch the fireworks from the beach.  They weren’t quite as flashy or grand as the displays in Castelia City, but in some ways, he preferred these shows better.  Maybe it’s because he could watch them by the ocean?

✩ Honestly, he wished he could ride his Sharpedo while the fireworks were going on above him.  Now THAT would be exciting.  And dangerous.  And that danger is half the fun, of course.  But… That wouldn’t happen.  The event organizers were pretty strict and had the whole area blocked off.

☾ And, he did once try it, but he nearly got caught.  Well, he actually was spotted, but he was able to outride them.

☾ He’d be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy the whole encounter…

☾ But, what he enjoyed most about that time was the view.  As he rode deeper into the ocean, the wind pulling at his hair and clothing, he turned to look at the coast.  The fireworks went off, bursts of blue, red and yellow in both the sky and in the reflection of the water below.  The city glimmered just as bright in the distance.  The sounds of the waves and wind and fireworks overhead, combined with the lights against the dark backdrop of night, was breathtaking.  

✩ While not every New Years show has been quite as exciting, he still managed to enjoy himself each year. He hoped luck would be on his side for the next.

Can I request Piers with a s/o that has an overprotective Yveltal?S/o wants them to get along and Yveltal just wakes up every day and chooses violence. Yveltal can communicate with people (like a lot of legendaries) but just flat out refuses to talk to Piers out of sheer defiance and dislike and Piers is just as stubborn (Ngl this is a lil oc self indulgent for me haha 😅)

✩You had Yveltal a while before you even met Piers. Through some twist in fate, you and the legendary ended up together, and ever since then, the giant bird had practically been inseparable from you.

☾For better or worse.

✩You knew that Yveltal would give ANY romantic partners trouble. After all, you had to warn guests to avoid certain sections of the room and to NOT make eye contact with the grumpy legendary in the corner. Luckily, nothing major had happened. The sounds Yveltal made whenever someone so much as LOOKED at them kept them far enough away.

✩As much as you loved the Pokemon, they could be a pain. For every moment where you curled up together, burying your face into the bird’s fluffy grey mane, there was at least one moment where you had to keep the legendary from blasting anyone who so much as looked at you the wrong way with a ball of dark energy. It was a lot of work.

☾Heck, you even had to get a huge house just so the Pokemon could fit inside!

✩But, even you didn’t expect so much trouble when you started dating Piers. You told him it would just take time. Surely, the legendary would warm up to him in time… Right?

☾“Hey, Yveltal, can we watch a movie in the living room?”

☾“OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE ROOM. ME IN BETWEEN. That would fine.” The legendary replied. You swore they wore a grin, even though the Pokemon had limited facial expressions. They KNEW what it was doing.

☾And, this was a common occurrence.

✩On Piers’ side, he wasn’t in a hurry. He worked with a lot of tough Pokemon; they all came around when they were ready. If anything, trying to force the bond to form would just backfire. And if it didn’t work out in the end, they could probably learn to at least live together.

☾….Besides that, in complete honesty, he was terrified of the bird. Did they look cool? Definitely. Did he want to get to know them? Of course! Was the death bird capable of killing him and everything in the general area? WITHOUT A DOUBT.

☾To be fair, TECHNICALLY they weren’t a legendary of death. They just absorbed the life force of everything around them. Totally different, right?

☾As much as he told himself that, he still avoided the bird. Maybe time would do the trick, let the Pokemon get used to the idea of him being around?

☾Nine months later, and yeah, the bird is still mad and still rather snappy and growly.

✩Previously, he had tried talking to Yveltal. Tried asking if anything he did was bothering them. Or if he could do anything that would make them more comfortable? Maybe they could strike some sort of compromise or something?

☾Each time, the legendary just glared at him, huffed, and let out a growl before wandering off. Piers took that as a firm “No.”

✩Then, finally, SOMETHING happened.

✩Normally, you took Yveltal with you everywhere. But, every once in a while, the legendary just did NOT want to go into its Pokeball. After about an hour of coaxing, you had to leave to avoid being late for an appointment. Needless to say, taking a violent and overprotective legendary into public is not a great idea. So, you told Yveltal you’d be back soon, emphasized to be nice to Piers, and told your boyfriend you’d be back as soon as possible. And to call if he had any problems.

☾He definitely didn’t want problems while you were away, so Piers just holed himself up in his room for the entire time. He thought about working on some songs, but nothing came to mind; maybe it was because of nerves? He opted to just listen to music instead.

☾Feeling like something new, he turned on a variety online radio station that mainly played metal. A little outside of his normal tastes, but it’s nice to go outside of your comfort zone. Especially during writing blocks!

✩Time went by. With the sun just starting to fall, Piers figured it’d be time to get up and move around a bit. Turning, he froze.

☾He saw a bright blue eye peering into his room through the doorway. It seemed the legendary had its head resting on the hallway floor, watching him. Yveltal was perfectly calm; oddly, it reminded him of when Skuntank was just lounging around.

☾The song that was on ended, transitioning into a commercial break. Yveltal’s eye wided, and they lifted their head. Staring at him, moving their head further into the room to get closer. Piers honestly couldn’t tell what the bird was thinking, but he stood as still as possible.

☾This went on for a couple of minutes. Just a stare down between the two of them. Then- Piers jumped! A song came on, and of ALL things, it had to be death metal. And it started off LOUD.

☾He was about to slowly shift toward the computer to switch it off… But, Yveltal stopped staring at him. Actually, they just laid their head right back down, and closed their eyes. And… rolled over! Somehow, the legendary looked like a Liepard laying on its back. Annnnnnd, Piers heard a crash as the Pokemon knocked something in the hall over with a limb or their tail. He wasn’t about to check it now.

☾Eventually, the song ended, and Yveltal opened an eye lazily. Curious, Piers bought up some other death metal songs. And, just like before, the bird relaxed.

✩The death bird likes death metal?

☾“So… you like metal, huh?” Piers asked, not expecting an answer.

☾“If that’s what this is called, YES.”

☾Piers, surprised, didn’t really know how to respond other than giving the bird a grin.

☾Well, at least it was ONE thing it liked beyond you!

✩So, Piers texted you to head up to his room when you got home. Intentionally, he turned off the music when he heard your steps on the stairs. You went up, careful to avoid stepping on Yveltal, noting how odd it was for the bird to be halfway in the hallway.

☾With a grin, he glanced at you, then put on the music. And, just like that, Yveltal rolled over with a sigh. You were at a loss for words. The ONLY time you ever saw the Pokemon so calm was when you were with Yveltal alone!

✩You two tested it. And Yveltal consistently liked that genre of music! Actually, they liked anything along those lines, even if it was less intense, but death metal was their favorite.

✩So, you put a set of speakers in Yveltal’s room (yes, they had a room), and you now found you could at least compromise with the Pokemon to give you and Piers some time alone now. WITHOUT a grumbling bird next to them at all times.

✩And, slowly, Piers felt the legendary was warming up to him. They certainly weren’t on a friendly basis, but at least Piers could come into rooms now without the bird growling! And, their shared interest in music gave them something to bond over, which was certainly progress. With time, perhaps they could get along?

☾But for now, having a legendary sprawled out across the floor like a cat was good enough for him! Even if it meant their conversations were often nothing more than Yveltal asking him to “MAKE IT LOUDER!”

Another little thing

So, I found another thing that may be of interest.  I haven’t seen anyone talking about it, so here we go:

Now, the roaring.  In Ralsei’s explanation, we see what are (apparently) three titans:

Notice their “faces.”  I’m pretty sure this has been pointed out, but it looks awfully familiar..

“Power?”

As far as I can tell, the distinction between “power” and “determination” has not be cleared up yet.  Regardless though...

Have you checked out some of the official merch?  In particular, a certain T-shirt (that Toby apparently designed with a ball point mouse?!)

I’d zoom in, but I don’t think it’s necessary.  Again, look at the face.  It’s a little distorted (prolly cause Toby was drawing with a mouse), but doesn’t that look oddly similar to the Titans?  The shirt is called Stay Determined, which you can find on the Fangamer site.  Another link to determination!  However, I find the fact that this design element is not just used HERE for Asriel, but also for the Titans.  It’s one of those things that doesn’t seem to be a coincidence.

Now, what does that mean?  I dunno.  I know a lot of people who post these kinds of things like to make predictions, but I’m not really going that far. Obviously, you could draw some potential theories, but this is just a weird, tiny thing I wanted to point out, so I’m not doing major predictions.

It could be a link to Asriel, who is called “The G*d of Hyperde*th,” after all.  Or, perhaps its a link to “g*d-like” beings in general?  From what little we know of the Titans, they seems to possess incredible power. Thus, this could be a symbolic visual (the determination/power symbol on the face) that Toby is using to indicate “g*dlike” power, whatever that may end up meaning.  There’s certainly enough references to G*d, ang*ls, and the like in this game.  Or, as I said earlier, it could be some sort of Asriel link.  OR it could be both.  

Or... maybe it’s nothing at all. :)

Either way, I just figured I’d point it out.  I only poke into the DR tag every once in a while, so feel free to let me know if this has already been discussed!

Cat Time

I haven’t posted any cat pictures lately.  So, here’s a couple of cute pictures.  Don’t know when I’ll be able to post more requests, as November is always really busy for me!

(In the second picture, I got up to get water, and when I came back, Boba was stuffing his face in my head phone cup!  I was an a stream with friends, and I guess he heard them and got curious. :)   )

I DO! I will accept characters from any of the mainline games, 1-8. I've been playing since the games first came out forever ago. :)

Unova is actually my favorite region, and I'd love to do more with those characters!

Also, I’m SO sorry this took me like - ten years to finish. I hope it was worth the wait!

✩Dating Kukui was an experience, to say the least. While you two weren’t living together yet, there was always something exciting going on.

☾It was not uncommon for you to come over and, once his home was in sight, you’d start to hear crashing or crunching or just all around chaos. You were only worried about this in the beginning; eventually, you just learned it was his own type of research.

☾(You had an agreement that you would call before entering, JUST in case. Not very fun, getting a face full of Flamethrower!)

☾And of course, Kukui had many other responsibilities, too. Developing the Alolan Pokemon League was a secret you were in on. Then there were all of the new trainers he had to guide, too. What free time he had was limited, but he made sure to include you in it.

☾….Most of the time.

✩Sometimes, when he was supposed to have free time, he would randomly flake out on you, or say he “had something to do.” Nothing wrong with that, he has his own life, after all. What bothered you is that he wouldn’t usually tell you what he was up to. You were his partner, and you didn’t like the feeling that he was… hiding something from you.

✩Overall, there was a pattern to his absence. He was often gone on the weekends and in the evenings, and it seemed like it came in spurts. He’d be busy for a week or two, then be more available, then he would be busy again.

✩But, you didn’t want to be one of those creepy partners who tried to do detective work or anything like that. You trusted him. You didn’t think he was up to anything weird, or even anything that would hurt you or anyone else. You just wanted to know what he was up to…

✩Eventually, though, you caught him in a direct lie.

✩You texted him to see if he’d be free on a Saturday. He said not during the day; he’d be wrapped up in some pretty tricky and dangerous lab work for most of the day, but would drop down at your house later tonight.

✩You sighed as you saw the text show up on your phone, and told him that was fine. At the very least, you could get errands done before he came over.

☾You went to Hau'oli City to do your shopping, which took a couple hours. You planned to spend a little more time in town, but found yourself tuckered out fairly quickly. You decided to just cut your shopping short, even though there was plenty of day left.

☾You walked back to Iki town, passing the lab as you were about to go through Route 1. You thought for a moment. It was rather odd that Kukui would tell you not to come because he was doing “something dangerous…”

☾Honestly, much of what he does is “dangerous” in your mind. There is basically NOTHING he does that ISN’T dangerous. The man often put holes in the ceiling with his research into Pokemon moves. You had a repair person on speed dial for that very reason.

☾So… If this was WORSE than his normal work… Needless to say, you were worried. You’re not sure why you didn’t think of this before.

✩So, you quickened your pace, slowing when you saw the lab. The bright Alolan sun was shining, the waves lapping calmly at the sand… and not another sound beyond the ocean. Normally, if Kukui was working with the Pokemon, you’d hear all sorts of crashing and banging and explosions by now. Yet, all was peaceful, for the moment.

☾As you approached the lab, you still heard nothing. Taking a chance, you opened the door with your key and went in. All the lights were off. Rockruff greeted you with a happy bark as you turned on the light, the little Pokemon rushing up to you for pets. You gave the Pokemon what it wanted, but were distracted with trying to figure things out. Where was Kukui?

☾And, hardly a second after that thought, you heard the jingling of keys. The sound came from the back door. You waved Rockruff to follow you, just in case you needed protection. It wasn’t a major concern, as Melemele tended to be one of the most peaceful islands, but you could never be sure.

✩As you got to the door, it opened. You froze. Luckily, it ended up being a familiar face: your boyfriend.

✩You both stood there, staring at each for a minute until Kukui broke the silence. “Hey, uh… What’re you doing here? I was going to meet you at your house, right?”

☾You told him you got worried about his research, to which he broke out laughing. “Sorry, Y/N,” he said in between laughs, “It’s nice that you thought of me, but... you know, I’ve been doing this for years! It’ll be fine, promise!”

✩But, something else was on your mind. This has been going on so long, so you just went out and finally said it. You asked him where he went. Wasn’t he supposed to be in the lab all day?

☾He got visibly nervous at this; you knew he wasn’t the best liar. Even when he was trying to hide presents from you, it was easy to read him. His voice usually changes, and his expressions become more animated. He gave you an awkward smile, shifting uncomfortably. “Just, ah, had to move things outside. Was getting way too Overheat-ed for the lab, so I figured the beach would be safer!”

✩You were about to let him off with that explanation, but then noticed something poking out of his lab pocket. Something bright and colorful… Curious, you asked him what it was.

☾He froze again, stuttering a bit. “O-oh, it’s nothing- just something I picked up along the beach, must’ve washed up to shore…”

☾You asked to see it. Kukui did not respond. Eventually, with a sigh, looking defeated, he took the thing out of his pocket and handed it to you.

☾It was something fabric-y, like a stretching fabric. You unfolded it, and… it was a mask? It looked familiar… Red, yellow, green and blue, the colors of some of the more common Pokemon types.

☾Then, it hit you. This was a wrestling mask. Wrestling. Akala. The… Battle Royal Dome… THE MASKED ROYAL?!

✩You stared at him. It seemed so obvious now. The body type (Kukui is surprisingly ripped for a professor), the facial hair, voice, mannerisms… Even battling styles!

☾“So… You’re…” You start.

☾“Yeah… Look, I’m really sorry, Y/N. I should’ve told ya sooner. I just like keeping things, well, separate, you know?”

✩Rockruff whined a bit. The little puppy sensed the tension, and seemed a bit worried. They bit the hem of Kukui’s lab coat and pulled a little. He bent down to soothe the Pokemon. Eventually, you guide them both over to a couple of stools on the other end of the lab. This was going to take a while.

✩In truth, you were a little hurt. You were happy he had hobbies; if anything, relieved. He worked so hard all the time, you’re glad he had something he did mostly for fun. But WHY couldn’t he just have told you?

☾“Why? Why did you hide all this? How long have you been doing this?”

☾He leaned back a bit, rubbing his face before responding. “Well… I wanna do both things. But, in a way, I think most people won’t be able to separate them. If everyone knows I’m a researcher who ALSO fights in Battle Royal challenges, they can’t see past that. Some other researchers are pretty serious, and they might not take my research seriously, after seeing I’m basically a celebrity over there. And, it’s not so bad on the other side, the other fighters don’t really care. But, the fans will sure see me different, you know?”

☾He sighed. You let him keep talking. “Sometimes, I just kinda want a break, Y/N. I love my research. I think about it when I wake up, and it’s the last thing I think about before going to sleep. Well… Most of the time. That’s been changing lately.” He said with a wink.

✩You laugh a little. You knew he loved his research, you didn’t have any problem with it. It was just a part of being in a relationship with a rather passionate researcher.

☾He continues. “But, that’s basically what I like about being the Masked Royal. It keeps me from, like, getting Burn-ed Up. I love all that research, but it’s a break. It’s fun. If everyone knew I was the professor AND the Masked Royal, that’d all be over.”

☾At this point, you began to feel bad. Despite being his partner, you not only didn’t realize he was the Masked Royal (even though it was SO obvious), you didn’t notice how much stress he’s been under. It’s true, he had a ton to do. But he basically always did it with a smile. Just goes to show that even something you love can just be too much, sometimes...

✩And after all that, all you could do was pull him into an embrace.

☾“You alright, Y/N?”

☾You told him yes, but also told him how you felt. As you did so, you felt him hold you tighter.

☾……..Which was awkward, considering the two of you were currently seated on two tiny stools with a little rock puppy at your feet, fast asleep.

☾But as you got to the end of your thoughts, he pulled you into a kiss, one hand resting on the back of your head. Deep, but not sensual - a loving kiss. It lasted just long enough for you to recollect yourself, and then ended with him continuing to hold you.

✩“I’m sorry for putting you through that. I really am. I should have thought how this would’ve made you feel.”

☾You tell him it’s okay; now that everything’s out, and you’ve heard his side, it all makes sense.

✩You let a few moments pass in silence, enjoying being close to him. A thought comes to you.

☾“Think you can get me tickets to your next match?” You ask, smiling up at him.

☾“Uh, sure.” He pauses; his eyes suddenly light up. “Wait, you wanna see me? In a match?”

☾You nod.

☾He jumps up, pulling you up with him into another hug (and knocking over a stool). At least standing and hugging was easier on the back. Rockruff, startled, jumped aside as well, looking up curiously at the two of you.

☾“Next match is tomorrow! How does front row seats sound? You’ll feel the gust with each Darkest Lariat, the heat from Incineroar’s flame, the-”

✩He keeps going. And going. And you let him, happy to see him excited. The rest of the day was spent talking about the Battle Royal, what you should expect, his own thoughts on Battle Royal fighting in general, how he started fighting there… Everything. Basically, he caught you up on everything you missed so far.

✩As planned, you eventually dropped by your house at the end of the day, heading to bed early so you’d be ready for what tomorrow had in store for you.
