Guys while hallucinating on my new meds, I came to the realization that Mihawk was out on the open seas as swordsman since he was a teenager maybe even younger…. Did he ever finish a normal education?

Scratch that did he even have a normal education? Does he know math? Can my guy tell me the quadratic formula? Like I think we all forget as individuals how much school taught us yes the school system is broken blah blah but guys we understand germ theory and how birds fly and chemistry and biology that people just 60 years ago wouldn’t have known and would have killed to know, like I’m sure he can write and I’m pretty sure he can read but does he know how the moon pulls the tide? Did he know the earth wasn’t flat until he saw a globe for the first time?

Have we as individuals been bamboozled by the stoic gothic refinement of luxury that Mihawk projects we completely overlooked they fact the guy probably doesn’t know salt is a rock? Like wanna bet he saw how cool the over the top refined gay goth was and just like tailored that too his vibe but he’s never actually read a classic in his life?

What I’m trying to get at is Shanks who grew up around some of the smartest people in the world who spoke multiple languages, one was a doctor and you know Rayliegh who definitely doubled as a quartermaster might have a higher education then Mihawk.

Like I think it would be funny if Shanks was the guy who read books on Philosophy and artistic historical movements throughout the world (cough to impress Mihawk cough) and Mihawk doesn’t know how fish breathe underwater and has never read anything higher the a YA novel. (Which are awesome books but talk about reading a book by its cover! Lol… I’ll see myself out.)

Hello there, I absolutely adore your Dogday writings, especially the mix between fluff and angst 😍. From your pinned post I wasn't quite sure if you accept requests, but if you do I was wondering if you could please write something about Dogday not being used to gentle touches like pets or hugs.

I would think after being strung up in that cell for who knows how long and always fearing that the mini critters, catnap or something else comes to harm him, he would be kinda scared or startled at first when reader hugs or pets him until he notices that they're not going to hurt him.

So basically him being touch starved 😊

How is it that you heal with just your fingers?

Dogday aches. He aches all over, in his arms, in his chest. He aches where the stitches lie, where his legs used to be. He aches in legs he doesn't even possess anymore, and it's all torture.

He has his bad days, just like everyone else. He has his days where it hurts to just exist, days where he wishes he didn't just so he can have a moment of peace, of painlessness. He feels guilty about it, about even thinking of leaving you, but he can't help it. Your strongest pain meds hardly make a dent in him, thanks to either skewed biology or lack of potency.

It makes you cry in sympathy. And your tears feel like a balm. He can fight his pain if it means soothing yours. And it seems you feel the same way.

Your hands are gentle. They touch him, so lightly that he doesn't notice them sometimes.

Sometimes your palm presses into his back as he struggles to breathe through his sorrow. He jerks from you, and you retreat, but he always chases after he realizes. A kind touch is foreign after so long strung up by belts and fed bit by bit to hungry mongrels, but it is sought after all the same.

Dogday fights for your touches. They make his skin prickle and pinch until he body follows his brain, relaxing into your warm embrace. His aches dull as your fingers knead into his back, into his muscles, or whatever acts like them now.

It never leaves. But you make it take a backseat. You replace the pain with a heaviness that wears on his soul, a feeling he doesn't remember ever knowing before. He sleeps easier with you nearby, the heaviness safe, secure. . .

It's peaceful.

It's peace.

Dogday only knows peace when his body sags into your lap, when the sun warms his back and you comb through his fur, scratching along his scalp with your nails.

Sometimes he cries, but you always wipe the tears away, and he's left warm and golden in your wake.
