So if Din was working with Ranzer Malik and his crew during that period, there may be gaps in his knowledge. Perhaps he got called back to defend Mandalore and arrived too late? He knows the planet has been glassed, and he knows about Moff Gideon, suggesting perhaps he was captured at one point. I wonder if he was rescued by COTW members? Din doesn't seem to have known the Armorer in his younger years, although she's aware of his history, so maybe they met after the purge? It would explain a lot

This is all quite possible! I’m hoping this is a backstory we get in season 3. Din would’ve had to know Moff Gideon was in charge of the Purge and that he was supposed to have been executed for war crimes, and he also would’ve had to know that the Night of a Thousand Tears occurred in the first place. Him being with Ran makes sense for his breaks in knowledge, and so does hunting on Mos Eisley. I hope we’ll find out soon!

Something that's been on my mind is that I don't know how much other fans know of the timeline re: the Night of a Thousand Tears. It seemingly follows on from Bo-Katan accepting the darksaber from Sabine Wren, if the Armorer's words are anything to go by, so it happened about a year prior to the Battle of Yavin (when Luke Skywalker destroyed the first Death Star). I have to wonder if Din was working with Ranzer Malik at the time? It would explain his lack of knowledge if he wasn't present then?
