I'd love to take a scenic train ride in the snow to go visit my family in PA, but noooo, AmTrack is stupidly expensive and it'd be cheaper to get gas and drive and I'd still have to go all the way to Salisbury or whatever the fuck a Kannapolis is to get an train to Harrisburg AND THEN get a ride out to where my family is since they're like 20 miles out from Harrisburg, and even then, EVEN FUCKING THEN I'd have to walk carefully because let's be honest, if it snows in NC they just lob the snow on the sidewalk, and I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same in PA.

yall underestimate how much i love the stanarrator dynamic... they only really have each other so of course they're gonna bond eventually and yeah they kinda hate each other but they also kinda love each other and they are ABLE to work together... look at the figurines ending... + i really just like the idea that the narrator isn't familiar with feeling love and he's afraid of not being in control of his own emotions so thats why hes trying not to show it since he doesnt like being vulnerable like that. theyre both just trying to make the best of the situation they're in so what better option than kissing men

I've just been thinking about this so like all those Jaune smut/ship posts are a little weird and I don't really like them. Like firstly he doesn't act like himself at all but I know this fandom i shouldn't have expected that much. But his entire character revolves around how he's such a nice and oblivious person who is always in the worst place to be in the wrong time. He suffers hella imposter syndrome and is a huge failure boy (not derogatory). If a female character literally breathes on screen she's somehow in a ship post with him which is honestly a little impressive.

People often forget about Jaune being the guy who had to cheat to get accepted, and how he always had to get his life saved by Pyyhra, or how he literally didn't know how to sword fight with the sword he had. And his arc shows him over coming those odds, but he's still not the strong, alpha male, fuckboy, y'all think he is.

Also these are probably also the people who had a problem with Bumblebee in volume 9 because "they came out of nowhere and the writers just gave into the shippers". THOSE TWO HAD BEEN PRACTICALLY EDGING THE SHIP SINCE VOLUME 3! Monty wrote gay people. I need to pull up that one Danny Motta clip about this. I could pull up every time they were obviously alluding to them being into women/each other but I don't have the time nor the energy to argue with you.

When people start shipping canonically lesbian characters with a male character it is weird. Now some people argue that because people ship RubyxWeiss it's ok to do it the other way too. Ruby and Weiss aren't confirmed either way, Blake and Yang are. I literally don't care what way you ship them if they're not in a committed(healthy) relationship or haven't been confirmed in canon. Also y'all have never heard of female friends or sisters for some reason. Jaune and Ruby were a sibling dynamic from the get go but whatever I'm not trying to get myself killed. Jaune and Weiss do actually have chemistry, so does OscarxRuby.

Lastly, all of yall have been largely mischaracterizing Jaune because you want him to be a dominant but mostly empty character who you can place yourself in the position of. It's really the same problem as the isekai genre. But Jaune isn't the dominant type who acts like a fuck boy.

Obviously Jaune's the bottom, like he's the one wearing the collar in these scenarios, dumbass.

DUDE so fucking real. I used to be so productive during those years, but now I can only get out one piece of art a week if I'm lucky...

Regular life and trying to make a living these days means you simply don't have time for the things you used to enjoy, and it's the most soul-sucking thing ever.

I'm trying my hardest to make time, but this prioritization you have to do with the limited amount of time you have makes you not want to do anything at all. And I'm trying not to blame myself for it. I've worked so hard in these last few years to make life easier on me in the long run, but the more I work, the more the weight of knowing how little free time I have gets heavier. It's just life. I tell myself this all the time. I simply wish you didn't have to be miserable for so much of your life simply so you can live a "good" one.

There will come a point where you will stop being 18-22 and your art output will slow dramatically, either from life circumstances, work, or schooling, and you will feel the urge to blame yourself for it. Don't!

Just because I like Starlight Express doesn't mean I like Andrew lloyd webber. There are so many other people that go towards making that show amazing. My appreciation goes to the cast and crew, not the writer.

This is a rant about the beginnings of episodes 4 and 5 of ONE.

I’ve never seen this mentioned by anyone in the ONE fandom before and it is quite upsetting.

There is a lot of untapped potential and theories in those two short audios, proof of routine, the silence that; even for moment, unsettles deeply. It feels lonely; everything about those scenes, considering what they imply, suddenly exude a tremendous amount of loneliness and silence. A pattern perhaps.

Those scenes confused me when I first watched the show, but they were something I had noticed immediately. It was foreshadowing, yet no one had spoken about it at the time the episodes came out, nor after the finale.

Somehow this upsets me.

I wish more people would come to notice these details, yet they are overshadowed by the humming at the end of episode 8. It is unclear when exactly these moments take place, but it is a small glimpse of airy’s daily life in the waterfall universe.

It’s mundane, it seems unimportant. Wood chopping, the waterfall, vines rustling. The sounds of a fire, a small cough, a distant running stream. These aren’t spoken about enough.

I highly recommend going back and listening to them. They are interesting. Maybe I’ve just rewatched this show too many times.

Nevertheless, those two scenes are very dear to me and I would love for people to discuss about them and make up their own theories about them.

I feel like the whole point, the entire idea, was that the original artwork was once. It will never happen again, and that is horrible but it's so so very beautiful. If one were to recreate the original person the artwork was made after, he would not be the same, he would not have the same soul, exactly like the art. All of this on top of the new plaque. Hate it.

the david zwirner gallery and the felix gonzalez torres foundation in the smithsonian removed the descriptive plaque for portrait of ross in la by felix gonzalez-torres. the old plaque explained portrait for ross' origins as the artist's partner's aids related death, and replaced it with a plaque with absolutely no information about the piece itself, who ross was, or who gonzalez-torres was either. portrait of ross was also reeranged to lay on the floor long ways instead of in a pile as it typically is situated, and the plaque outside the exhibition FOR GONZALEZ-TORRES omits his sexuality, as well as his aids related death. i'm in utter disbelief

Let's talk double standards in the HotD Fandom. Now these mostly focus on the way TBs act towards TGs so before reading this know that if you are TB you are getting called out

Let's start with one of my favorites. The Strong boys being bastards.

TB screams about how we shouldn't hate on bastards in the show or in real life. That they had no choice in that aspect of their life. Which is fair and true but they then turn around and yell at ANYONE who points out the Strong boys are infact bastards. God forbid you do what you preach?

Tbs hate Otto because he schemes and wanted his blood on the throne. But they love Corlys even though he did the exact same thing...multiple times. Both used their daughters in hopes the King would have a son with her and that son would sit the throne. Corlys failed so he turned to Rhaenyra and in the end had to pray Jace didn't fuck him over. Both are schemers, both put their daughter out there to be Queen. They did the same thing but since Corlys sided with Rhaenyra now this is swept under the rug.

Calling Criston a Pedo for sleeping with Rhaenyra even though he told her NO multiple times, all while going heart eyes for the Daemyra brothel scene...yeah, explain that to me without seeming racist or like you have double standards.

Yet again something to do with Criston vs Daemyra. TBs especially Daemyra fans LOVED the scene of Daemon and her on Driftmark the night of Daemons WIFE'S funeral. Yes funeral! But they hate Alicent and Criston for having a sexual relationship AFTER Viserys was long dead. They also love to say Rhaenyra is showing progressiveness by sleeping with Harwin, all while hating Alicent for even thinking about sex.

Daemon kills a four year old boy? Oh thats fine a son for a son is fair. But Aemond wanting to take Lucs eye after all these years? Now that's psychotic behavior.

Rhaenyra not giving a flying fuck her brother lost his eye and infant asking for him to be sharply questioned, which meant tortured (and yes it did you can literally look up a quote of Maegor stating little Prince Viserys be sharply questioned before the nine year old boy is tortured) is all good. But Alicent watching as her husband doesn't give a fuck their son lost a eye, but carefree over a insult and then demand for Lucs eye in a EMOTIONAL AND DESPERATE STATE, is wrong?

Rhaenyra wanting to kill Aemond after Lucs death is warranted. But Aegon wanting Rhaenyra dead after Baby Jaehaerys died isn't supposedly?

can you unearth the amount of literary allusion, cinematography, their basic significance and the plethora of other things yingdu has given? as a literature major who has a keen interest in 'literature and (it's relationship with) other arts (and cultural studies)' let me tell you, it takes a trained scholar to understand the nuance of artistic representation beyond the popular grip of 'plot'. It's not even the advanced theories rather it's the clear idea about the basics of artistic representation that differentiates an ignorant viewer and a critical thinker.

"fan theories were better" so write then? see where it goes and what it signifies in the long run? Every artist has a vision and the plot is a vehicle to achieve that vision, not the other way around.

Just wanna roughly quote a renowned filmmaker : when you are a (classical) music enthusiast, you need to know the basics before joining a circle of other enthusiasts. when you are a literature lover, you have to have a sense of contemporary literary criticism. every 'hobby' needs some prerequisite knowledge. but you know what? if you have money in your pocket, you can go and watch a movie and boom, you are a cinema critic!

cheap internet access has done the same thing. and about popular media...if you are feeling that ' fanservice ' is diluting the plot, think twice because it's very hypocritical to be in a fandom (even being into shipping stuff) and getting surprised (like a genteel Victorian gentleman) at fanservice. Fanservice is the DEMAND of popular media. If you all were so much into serious stuff, the beautiful cinematography of 'the eye' should have been a dominant discourse now. And many other things.

season 1 and 2 had many weird lines for 'apparently' no reason at all, some things are very weird (and to some extent felt creepy to me), now pick them and bash them.

I am very critical of link click, and I absolutely DO NOT mind shitting on link click's weak points if one has solid and sound points. Link Click has so much potential and that's why it has immense pressure of not fucking up.

Lemme say that again: In 2013, it was expected that gay characters would be censored in children’s mass media.

Remember Korra? How she and Asami had to settle for ambiguous handholding rather than a kiss? That was fully a year after House of Hades came out. Nickelodeon said No Gays, the Children™ can’t handle that. Too risky. And people said man that stinks, but that’s how these things go in 2014 America.

Gay marriage was literally still illegal in the vast majority of US states. As of October 8th, 2013 (House of Hades release date) Gay Marriage was only a thing in thirteen fucking states. California had only legalized it that year.

Gay people were still very much on the fringes of society. It was an acceptable political position on both sides of the aisle to be against the existence and equal rights of gay people.

Nico was legitimately a landmark character in queer representation. To my knowledge, there wasn’t before an openly gay main character in a bestselling ya/middle grade fantasy fiction series. It simply was not a thing. They didn’t exist. They weren’t allowed to exist.

I remember people crying. Finally. It was a watershed moment. Kids all across the world finally got someone who represented them. It was such a big fucking deal. And it was controversial!!! Not for the reasons it is today, but because people thought gay kids having representation was inappropriate.

Is Nico’s coming out a great scene? No, these days it leaves a lot to be desired. It’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination and I’m sure Rick wishes he could change it. But the fact that’s the case is a wonderful reflection of how far we’ve come.

All of your gay heroes in children’s media have Nico Di Angelo to thank. It was important, and good. It deserves to be celebrated, even if we’ve progressed past it since.
